New York New York Greek Restaurant is one of the few left Greek family owned and operated restaurants specializing in authentic Greek cuisine in a New York atmosphere. Along with our traditional Greek dishes, we offer seafood, steak, pasta and more for dinner. Each dish is prepared using only the freshest, finest quality ingredients and all of our Greek products are imported from Greece!
Got take out from here. It was horrible. This place used to be good years ago but not anymore. The rice was dry and had no flavor. The potatoes were hard. Called to complain and the manager was too good to even come to the phone. Will not be going back and it's a shame because I've ben a customer for years .
Great for before a show at Bell theater, Calamari was perfect, lemon potato was a wonderful revelation to me and Ecmeq dessert is like eating a sweet cloud. Didn't like the potato based Moussaka, always had it as eggplant but that's just me. Baklava looked crispy and honeyed, companion enjoyed it. Would go back for Lamb dishes.
Met some friends for dinner. The restaurant was clean and bright. The server was excellent and most helpful on our orders. Most efficient on bringing drinks and serving. Food is a little more pricey there, but we'll worth it. We would be happy to go there again.
Went here with my husband on Saturday night. We both ordered the same Kalamari Platter. The calamari was not as I had remembered it from 7 years ago when we visited last. What we were served was thick, overcooked, and chewy calamari. The tomato’s were overripe and mealy, and the rice was overcooked. The pita was also a bit tough like it was toasted then sat to dry out. Was really disappointing to spend $65 for two plates of food of that quality. :( Edit May 28/24 - The restaurant replied below but they must be talking about someone else. My husband and I haven’t travelled in years because we have small kids and we have never been to Greece. We also never ordered alcohol, and we didn’t finish our plates, or ask for discounts. So clearly they are thinking we are someone else. We were polite to our server, but figured there was no use saying something in the restaurant because we didn’t want to eat the same calamari even if remade. So, now after the incredibly aggressive response from the owner clearly mistaking us for other customers, we will continue to not recommend as clearly they’re also really rude.
Went to this place with my family a couple of weeks ago and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered the Monster platter and it was delicious. We could also make a few substitutions to it and I was really happy with that flexibility. I think that the prices are a bit on the higher side but the food is quiet delicious. If you like Greek Food, you should totally check this place out.
Came here with my boyfriend as he highly recommended it and I was not disappointed! The servers who served us took very good care of us and gave us very good recommendations on what foods to eat! And the food was delectable~ Would highly recommend if you're craving for some calamari/greek food! Will come here again in the future, bringing my family with me.
This is definitely one of the best Greek Restaurants to go to in Surrey! I've been to this restaurant just a handful of times but it never disappoints. The servings are good, price is fair, food tastes great, and the servers are wonderful! Overall, the experience was amazing! To break it down, here are the PROS & CONS: PROS: - Food tastes great - Servings are big and priced fairly (especially the roast lamb 👀) - Friendly staff CONS: (sorry, can't really think of anything else) - The location is in south Surrey Note: the picture attached is the roast lamb and chicken parmigiana 👌
This restaurant has very accommodating staff, it was easy to make a reservation for a large number of people and they stored the cake that was brought for the party. The restaurant is clean, organized, and decorated nicely. At the back the wall is a mural with the twin towers which makes sense because of the name of the restaurant but is somewhat off-putting. The entire restaurant eating area of the restaurant has windows facing outside toward the parking lot and roads which isn't much of a view but still enjoyable, especially at night. The staff are friendly and patient when it comes to ordering and changing or fixing orders. If something is wrong simply ask nicely for them to fix it and they will. The food is delicious, the lamb was perfectly tender and of a good portion, as was the rest of their food. Everything is reasonably priced for the portions you get. The desserts are slightly more expensive but quite delicious. There is a lack of parking in the surrounding area which can make it harder for large numbers of people to all come at once. (It is wheelchair accessible) Overall a very enjoyable time and place to eat delicious Greek food.
Pretty good Greek food. Id go with lamb over prawn next time. Server was great!
The food is great every time we come here! Great flavors and one of our favorite go to restaurants in the area.
The staff here have horrible attitudes. Look at their replies for proof.
Best Greek Food in Surrey. Well run. Reasonable prices for great food.
I always get pick orders from this authentic Greek diner thus never get disappointments.the foods great and the staff super friendly
EVERYTHING IS SOOOOOOOO GOOD HERE!!!
Great food and great service! Been going here for many years and they never disappoint
Great food, great service. A little pricey (but everything is now) There were some loud people and a screaming child, but thats not the restaurants fault, it is a family place.
We ordered the hummus to start. The portion size was approx. 3 tbsp. of hummus with pita for $12.99. We told the waitress that there was an issue with the very small portion size and she said she will give that feedback to management... that was it. No refund and no desire to make it right. The servers are totally checked out. They rarely came to the table. Its like they have no atonomy in their jobs at all. I almost felt bad for them. DONT EAT HERE We then ordered the roast lamb and prawn Souvlaki. Expensive and VERY bland. We went on a Friday night at prime dinner time... the restaurant was almost empty... that should have been our first clue! To sum up: Staff dont care Venue is very old and outdated. Bathrooms are disgusting Food is marginal but they charge $$$$$ We will never come back here and we have told our friends to do the same. What a rip off.
Just ordered one lamb souvlaki with an extra skewer and paid $45. Quantity was very less. A bit disappointed.
Been eating here for 20 plus years and its always been hit or miss. Most recent visit was a miss. Everything was just lowend. Kalimari was meh. Pita was cold and dry when it used to be warm and buttered. Service was meh. I get that restaurants are struggling but they are cutting corners that shouldnt be cut. I was too hungry to care and finished my food but I wont be back. Too many options to drop $100 for 2 with no booze and have it be that meh.
Got the greek platter for 2 and 1 red velvet cake, the food was exquisite. But for 120$ I can find cheaper food at almost the same level of flavor.
Absolutely disgusting food. This place is obviously under new management. This place used to be the best Greek food around town. Stay far away from this place.
Was initially excited to return to NYNY and have my go-to kalamari dinner. Recipe has changed and not at all like it used to be. Batter is very light, bland and served with no tentacles. I was quite disappointed to say the least. I sent an email expressing my candid feedback regarding the Kalamari and their hefty price increases (for instance, the platter for 2 went from $50 to $60ish to $75 and now $95!! Another occasion I was charged $.50 for lemon when I asked for hot lemon water and wasn t told of the charge for lemon prior. Crazy to be charged for lemon when I ve never been charged for this at any other restaurant before). To my utter shock I received a callous response from the owner, who told me We understand your frustration about our prices, which are not at all hefty compared to other decent and upscale Greek restaurants because obviously you haven t been out there in the real world . WOW. Imagine my shock to see this kind of response from the owner to talk so disrespectfully to a longtime local customer. APALLING. From reading other reviews here it doesn t seem like I m the only one giving them feedback about their lackluster kalamari but they don t seem to care. They went on to talk about how the quality of their kalamari is actually better now and that real kalamari is not fried. Yes thanks for pointing out the obvious but if they read my email concerns they would ve noted my complaint was of the batter and the missing tentacles. Definitely won t be returning to this overpriced restaurant when there are so many other authentic Greek restaurants who do not price gouge their customers for mediocre food.
Kalamari has completely changed from their previous recipe along with their portions. Very disappointing.
Place is way over priced. Opa fast food has better calamari for fraction of the price. This place just doesn t have that $40 a plate appeal. Everyone also needs to read how the owner responds to bad reviews. It s quite comical.
Roast lamb was my favorite. Love it every time
The service was lovely, the staff was all super friendly. The restaurant is quite noisy when full. There s no mood music, just the babble of conversations. The moussaka was yummy, but the other items in the platter were underwhelming. The rice was barely warm and the Greek salad was quite bland. Serving sizes were noticeably smaller than my last visit about a year ago. Still a perfectly reasonable meal, just don t expect to take home leftovers. The platters include only half a piece of pita bread and there was a small charge for hot water.
Went here with friends, as we were all craving lamb. Service is great, but to be honest, I ve had better lamb at another Greek restaurant. For the price of the entree, the lamb was overcooked and a bit dry. I was going to send it back, but didn t want to make a fuss. Company was great which made up for the quality of the food. May have to give it a 2nd chance.
We went here on a perfect time. The food was excellent. Jessica did a great job and the kitchen staff too. Definitely gonna go back here and eat again with my family. Kid-friendliness: High chair for kids are available.
Absolutely delicious roast lamb with all the standard Greek sides. Im a hungry guy, but I could not finish the humongous plate. A tad expensive, but worth it.
I didn t get enough portions. Please do better next time.
NO NICE PLACE ,, WAY TOO COSTLY !!!!! , DESSERT BAD !! , FOOD AVERAGE NO TOO BIG SERVINS ,,.NOT GREEK CHINA Food : 3/5
Its a delicious Greek meal, the salad is very fresh, but the pita bread is very scarce now...
Always have a great time here whenever I visit this restaurant which so happens to be every time Im in the lower mainland. Food is always expertly prepared with huge portions. Service is always attentive as well. Decor could use a bit of updating but otherwise fantastic ambiance.
I ordered delivery the eggplant parmesan and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised how delicious it was. Definitely a Greek spin on it but it was lovely and I will definitely have it again. The Greek potatoes were so good I wish I would have ordered more.
Expected food to be better, ordered the roast lamb. Large portion sizes, great service. Calamari on the greasy side. Party atmosphere on a Friday night.
Everyone and everything happening that evening was so exceptional. The service was amazing and so much gratitude. Food
Consistently always happy to eat at your place. Glad to have such a great atmosphere in our neighborhood. Love the moussaka! Parking: Kittens!
The spareribs were old, you could taste and smell that they were, couldn t eat them, and 2 family members were sick (diarrhea) before the meal was over. Absolutely horrible.
Hands down one of the best greek restaurants in the lower mainland area. Food was amazing with great portion sizes, great selection of alcohol, great service and time in the restaurant was quick with little wait time for food. Would highly recommend this restaurant
Had heard so much about this place- ordered pickup for two chicken souvlaki platters and it was so flavourless. The food was cold had to reheat it, just the flavour I cannot get over it was sooooo tasteless!
Greek flavored food highly recommended. the unique flavor in a pleasant environment with extensive facilities and first class service.
Best Roast Lamb in the Valley. Also had the Spanokopita and again best I have had. Service was top notched and was a pleasant change. These days many places service just isnt good anymore. We will be back more often.
Nickel and diming. Most places charge an automatic 18% gratuity for parties of 8 or more. New York New York applies the autograt for parties of 7 or more. One person in our party was charge $0.50 for a cup of hot water....surprised they didnt charge for my glass of cold water.
Food was ok not that impressive
This place is amazing, the food is delicious and the staff is so friendly
Roast Lamb is pretty incredible here. Rice and potatos are great. Pita and Tzatziki is awesome. One of the better Tzatziki dips. Greek salad has plentiful Feta but I personally prefer some kind of vinegar mixed in with my Greek salad.
Love their food. Hands down the best Greek food in Surrey.
Servers good manager sucks food gave Greek dining a brutal name. Take the drive to Greek Island restaurant on Langdon in Abbotsford
Was disappointed with price and the quality of food. Ordered 2 lamb roasts and both were so bland and without flavor. Not just the lamb but everything along with it. Ordered a small side of hummus and even that was disappointing. Paid 70+ which I wouldnt mind if the food was actually flavourful and of good quality. The lamb roasts were just a lot of fat. Honestly, anyone looking for awesome Greek food, I highly recommend Steffos in Vancouver. Great taste and at a much cheaper price. Worth the drive!!!
One word. AMAZING!!!!!
I tried so many Greek restaurants and this one was recommended by one of my family friends.I didn t not like the food much.Felt lack of flavour.service was good.
Ive been coming here for the better part of the decade, It was always my go to Greek place with the food and the ambience been always authentic and tasty.....BUT things have definitely changed as of late. First the prices are amongst the highest of them all, I was shocked to see that some items went up like 7 to 8$ higher. However the food was still good. But you can see they cut some corners. Like the Tszasiki sauce and the side are reduced. Second the staff. I dunno but they sure arent friendly anymore. I waited well over 35min to get our food and not even a sorry or anything didnt even ask can I get you a refill or would you like an appy. When I received my Calamari Dinner they served it with the smallest tszasiki sauce ever, I barely put 5 pieces in and I finished the sauce. I mentioned Id like more since it wasnt enough clearly and she brought me another but failed to mention its like almost 3$ for a tiny cup of it. When the bill came (80$) I wanted to have the sauce taken off and requested to talk to the manager not only she refused to get them she gave back a rude comment like it was my fault I cheaped out on the sauce or something. Needless to say I wasnt pleased with the whole experience. Im not someone whos picky but its 80$ and over an 1.5hr stay to enjoy some expensive Greek food. Go to the many other local ones. Their cheaper better portioned and definitely far better catering towards their costumers. I wish I didnt have to say this but I guess constructive criticism is now needed.
Disappointing experience. My wife and I dined here this evening (@ 6:00 on a Friday evening). When we were greeted we were asked if we had reservations; which we did not. We did not think this would be an issue as the restaurant was one third empty at the time. The older lady behind the cash register stopped the server as we were being seated, and had a few words with him before he was allowed to proceed. We were then sat at quite literally the worst table in the restaurant; a two seater in a small nook that had potted plants crowding it and where I had to remove a chair they had stored in behind before I had enough room to sit down. We were then told that we only had a 90 minute dining window. Perhaps she didn t like the way we looked? Let s just get one thing straight; by no means is this restaurant Le Crocodile or the St.Lawrence; and even they provide you with a 2.5 hour window. There is no reason that there should have been any window; particularly since the restaurant was 1/3 empty and during the prime 6-7pm dining time. To add insult to injury, another couple without reservations were sat in a booth just after we arrived and were not told that there was a dining window. As for the food itself, it wasn t the worst Greek I ve ever had, but it certainly wasn t the best. I had the roast lamb, which was overcooked and my wife s chicken souvlaki was overdone as well and dry. Doubtful if we ll go back here again.
Food was luke warm. Not impressed. Would not return
Ordered chicken pasta and like a lot of other restaurants lately...the food was ok, but the protein was a scarcity. I expect that if a restaurant charges in the high 20s for a portion of chicken pasta then finding the chicken iny dish should not be a mission.
Ordered through take out uber, pretty decent Greek Food. I originally came on to leave a good review and then was completely disgusted as to what I saw on customers reviews from this business. Never is it okay for the owner(s) to leave argumentative/rebuttal comments on customers reviews! Shame on you. If you do not agree with someone s review that is completely acceptable but please do not make your business, look bad. A standard run of the mill comment is how most businesses deal with negative comments. Take this as a learning lesson. Probably would stay clear of this restaurant as I fear they most likely treat guest in public the same, as still evident in their post back to customers.
This is by far the best Greek restaurant in the lower mainland. It gets really busy so I do recommend you make reservation in advance. Our server was so wonderful and kind and attentive. The food -- the calamari is so yummy and the roast lamb - best roast lamb ever and the potatoes are so flavorful. The rice is so delish too ! Cant recommend it enough !
Great roast lamb, friendly service, the portions are huge yet delicious, highly reccomended. Has a family restaurant feel so the staff actually care about the place
Best Greek food in town!!!
Great food with attentive staff.
All the food we ordered was amazing! Our family loved it, especially lamb. It was nice and soft, tender it didnt have that gross lamb smell like the one we buy from grocery stores. It was Perfection! Portion size was quiet big. Keep up the good work! We will be back for more thats for sure.
we love it
Ordered a pasta for take out. The chicken was so over cooked and chewy with bland sauce. Portion size is decent.
Aweasome authentic Greek cusine! Wonderful service and chill atmosphere:) Vegetarian options: Plenty on the menu and labled correctly as such. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options ,vegan options, and pescatarian options are available Parking: Free parking lot Wheelchair accessibility: There were no stairs that I saw, and the restaurant had movemable chairs and tables. Unsure about other wheelchair needs, though, to be fair
Prices have gone up, but the food is still good....
Nice Greek food.
Food was really good, service was okay, could use a renovation.
We came without reservations on a busy night. We were still seated right away and the food was delicious and prompt. I had the beef souvlaki and my husband had lamb. Both were tender. We shared the calamari which was perfectly done. The service was pleasant and friendly.
Food tast is not there any more
I always love Greek food but this one is really so so. The lamb was ok but the chicken tasted a bit weird. Also I really don t like it that they CHARGE FOR HOT WATER! Without letting us know while asking if we could replace the ice cold water with a plain cup of hot water, they charged us on the final bill. It s not about those few dollars. You have the right to charge anything but you need to show the price before people ordering. After Reply: Well too bad because we were only shown the wine menu not the drink/beverage menu at all! Ask your server please! Where was the menu and if she ever mentioned to us there was a charge for plain hot water! You were so defensive when it comes to the feedback from the customer. Too bad! You should have really taken any feedback gracefully! I also noticed a few other customers mentioned the same thing as I did about the older lady sitting behind the cash register who was quite rude.
The place has great Greek food, very good service and nice atmosphere. For sure a place you must visit.
We arrived 1 hour before closing, which they told us before getting seated. Our server June, was super friendly and you can tell that she knows her regulars.. We got the seafood Alfredo which was amazing, also got the roast lamb which was on the dry side.. but it was overall a great experience because of the service.. thanks june
Big portions, delicious plates, calid attention. 100%, recommended.
Good food. Serving was a loot wow, worth the proce and the taste lol everything was good! Food, staff, the place is clean
The best Greek place I have been to in Surrey. Roast lamb is an excellent choice at New York, New York. Attention to detail is evident given the cripsy exterior and perfectly cooked tender inside on every piece of lamb I have received. The calamari is just as good as the roast lamb. A thin crispy exterior cover the tender squid inside. The portions at New York, New York are generous. You will not leave feeling hungry as a platter comes with a tasty rice pilaf, pita, and potatoes. The ambience is nothing special. Circa late 1990s booths and decor. Not kitschy greek blue and white either. This is not a trendy, hipster place, but a straight forward old school restaurant. What is holding back New York, New York from a 5 star review in my mind is the price. The quality is very good, but their prices seem to be at least $5 more for their platters than other places. That kind of price difference adds up pretty quickly, and makes New York, New York more of a once in a while place then a staple when our family goes out for dinner.
Love this place. Special occasions with beloved family. Big portions.
EDIT: I see the owner responded to me, so I would like to touch base as I cant leave a second review. There was 6 meals ordered and 9 people. We also ordered a $19.99 Calamari and drinks. Its not like we had 9 people ordered 3 meals and tried to take up the majority of your restaurant. Are we realistically not spending enough money for you on a weekday. I do understand that we are a larger party, so thats why Im okay with 18%. Charging for hot water or plates is just pure greed. If I use more than my allocated napkin, do you want to add a quarter on there. An extra dish or two is not worth the charge you put on it. Youre just looking to catch people unaware to line your own pockets because people dont expect to pay for a dish so we can try a couple of the different options. Ive read the reviews on here and you try to bully people out of their opinions. These are my true comments. As stated before, wont come here and certainly will not recommend you to anyone. Our family had some of our overseas family here about a week and a half ago. They were very excited to try Greek food and we went a bit further out of our way to this area as this place had high reviews for food. We live in the Delta region, so its about a 30 minute drive from the Ladner area. The food was very good, but when we got out bill we were shocked. The restaurant charged $5.00 to share a plate that we paid for and $1.00 for hot water. They also charged 18% for the tip for the large group. The 18% we were more than happy to pay due to the large group, but paying $5.00 for a plate to share is ridiculous as its not like were not paying for the meal. We had a party of 9 people and ordered 6 meals, two appetizers, and a couple drinks. The least that we could have been told is that hot water was extra and that sharing would be extra. At that point with the sharing plates, it would almost be on par to just order an extra meal. We even bought a meal to go, so its not like we were skimping out! 1/5 stars, but the food brought it to 2 stars. The food was delicious, but based on principle will not be coming here again.
I came here because of the good reviews but definitely not worth it. The place was loud, the server was rushed, and the food had so much maybe MSG? that I couldnt sleep the whole night, which usually happens when I have MSG overload !! kept drinking water for the whole night. and honestly this is the first time we got charged plate sharing fee of $4 .. lol ... but we order a dish for everyone but just extra plates cost $4??!!! wow
Absolutely wonderful experience. Definitely will return with more people. The staff is super friendly and everything was served promptly 2nd contribution: Dinner again about a year later. Same experience. Masterful dinner.
I normally dont write restaurant reviews, but I was just checking if they were open today to order some take out. I want make this clear that they serve probably the best Greek food I have tasted since my friends family restaurant many years ago. I dont understand these expert critics. I wonder if they have ever had the pleasure of running their own restaurant or any other business. The owner and staff are lovely people and I drive all the way from New Westminster to get take out and we have dined in as well. The price is right for the quality and it is worth every penny.
Been going here for awhile now, and Ive always had a positive experience. However during a take out order they gave us the wrong order (We only ordered two items). Calling back we explained our order and instead of apologizing, and trying to fix the issue by correcting the order, the server as well as the manager talks back and blames us. It was just a bit strange to me how the customer service would be the manager talking back saying you did order this thats what the server said and continued to deny the mistake. Weve always ordered the same items with no problem. Really disappointed with the customer service and surprised at the reaction of the manager. I felt as if the situation couldve been handled a lot better as well as not talking back to a customer...
One staff member the healthy lady was too rude, took long time more than commitment and then started ignoring as well as told the other staff member to ignore me as food was not ready. It should not be the way of handling customer
Nice table for 6 and everyone ordered something different. I had the signiture meal, Roast Lamb L Astoria. (lamb shank that some call shoulder). Meal was extra hot, very flavorful, and a wonderful portion size. We also ordered the appetizer Kalamari (Calamari) for everyone to taste. It was good and very authentic Greek. The Warsteiner Beer went well with the lamb. Parking: Free parking in parking lot.
Had a very nice dinner. Service was excellent. Everyone was pleased with their food.
This restaurant consistently has the best Greek food Lower Mainland has to offer. Put it up against any downtown Greek restaurants and this place will definitely have the better food, quality and quantity in comparison. I used to dabble in the cheaper options that Surrey has to offer, but the price is worth it here and I just dont go anywhere else anymore. Stick to whats good, and this place is GOOD! Ive dined in, and gotten take out and they always have great customer service. Wheelchair accessibility: Restaurant is on the ground floor.
We had the worst service today . We ordered drinks but the drinks didn t make it to our table before our food . Our server was not very helpful.
This place is great. Good food and good service
One of the best Greek restaurant in Vancouver mainland , food & hospitality was top notch , loved the cosy American vibe Vegetarian options: Falafel bites were amazing. Parking: Plenty of parking spots
Best lamb ever!
Weve gotten it a few times over the years and its always been very good. We only ever get the souvlakis. This time around, we found the chicken to be quite bland without much color or spices. It was quite pale and just straight up lacked flavor. It didnt taste too far off from a plain chicken kabob cooked on an open flamed grill. As well, a couple of the potatoes lacked the usual delicious lemon flavor. So maybe they missed getting dipped in the marinade or something? Basically just a plain boiled potato. The beef souvlaki skewers we ordered on the side were perfect. Nice and pink inside with good flavor. Regardless - well be back. Weve never sat down to eat, but it was very lively on a Friday night when I picked up my order.
Chicken suvlaky tasted bland ,potatoes overcooked. My opinion only of course
Always great food ! Have never been disappointed.
Our first but not last visit, read reviews good n bad before choosing New York Greek, drinks were great along with the food and the portions, the both of us took what was left of our dishes home for the next day, our server do apologize cant recall her name was also great, only had one issue when checking in with covid passports, the lady who owns the place was uptight and not welcoming, she instantly put me in a mood with her attitude, if it wasnt for the charming waitress wed probably of had a cocktail and left.
Food was great and the service wonderful.
Had a retirement party for my boss here....I am not a big fan of Greek food but I had a really good meal and would take my wife here sometime as she loves Greek food.
Probably one of the best Greek food restaurants in Surrey. The portions are very good, tried the chicken parmigiana and was very satisfied. The staff are lovely. I like the vibe of this restaurant, it felt cozy. Will be paying another visit sometime.
Delicious food, and great proportions.
I went there with a friend for dinner tonight and we found the staff very pushy. We got there at 6pm and at 730, the server came up to us and said that our time for the table we were seated at was over. She then told us if we wanted dessert then we would have to take it to go. The server also told my friend she was told at the time she made reservations that we would only have 90 minutes. My friend said no one told her that and that the standard at other restaurants is usually 2 hrs. I gave it two stars because I do love the food however I took away 3 stars for very poor and pushy service. Its a shame because this was one of my favorite restaurants. The server never checked in on us to remind us of the time either if they have a strict 90 minute policy. People would like the feeling of being welcomed and not pushed out the door. So disappointed.
When I ordered takeout last week, it was the best calamari and spanakopita I have had in a very long time. The calamari was crispy and light and tender, the spanakopita was perfect. Then tonight I ordered through Uber eats, I specifically requested extra tzatziki in two places on the order, not only did my order arrive without any extra tzatziki, but the calamari was pale and limp and soggy. Very disappointed. When I called the restaurant to ask why they did not add the extra tzatziki as I requested, she stated that they would have had to charge me extra. I told her that was no problem why didn t they? She said because it takes too long. I gave it three stars instead of one star today because it was so good last week. Very very disappointed tonight, especially with the customer service, and the soggy limp calamari that I am now crisping up in my air fryer.
As always they never disappoint.. absolutely delicious
Good food..my family likes dining here
Didnt go there
Delicious ! Athenian prawns were fantastic!
12-Mar-2021, Unfortunately the owner has been changed. The quality of roasted lamb has been lowered a lot!! Dont be fooled by my previous post. Avoid them until they change back the quality. Change to 0 star if I could!! Old review of mine several years ago as below. Now please dont order roasted lamb at least.
Really good food and good service. Its not a fast food place. Take the time to sit down and enjoy the food.
The Roast Lamb dinner was the best Ive had out of many over the years.
Best one!
Located in a strip mall with parking this Greek restaurant with well laid out seating area and pleasant decor was our choice on a early Saturday evening . Our server was courteous and professional answering our questions regarding items on the menu There was four of us this evening ordering a side Greek salad and mussels as appetizers Both where very good especially the mussels. We ordered the platter for two, beef kabob and a shrimp kabob. The food was excellent and so plentiful with the meats all cooked to perfection . Especially the pork chops in the shared platter. So much food we had lots to take home. Highly recommended, would definitely return.
It was not what wed heard about.
Nice ambience
They do not smile when you enter. Cannot make small talk. Only ask you for more money. No bar to sit at. They frown when they serve you. Food is overpriced and full of butter and oil. Give you a spoon of tzatziki sauce. I asked for a job a few years ago. And all she tells me is the bus does not come at night and her dad is on vacation so there is no job. You get a view of nothing. There is a wall to cover any sight of traffic or trees-that was horrible restaurant construction. Liquor store has better alcohol then there overpriced drinks-one shot=$11 No. It was you and the servers never smile.
Great service, great meal
Solid portions by Greek restaurant standard. Can get a bit pricey but the food is absolutely delicious, and great for celebrations.
The prices increases are crazy. Platters used to be $17.99. Portions also a lot smaller.
Great environment and service was great and attentive. The portions were also plentiful and everything came out from the kitchen really fast. Just wished the pita was toasted and taziki was lacking flavor. The lamb main I ordered was really soft, but the chicken dish was great. I would recommend this place to others.
Has been awhile since Ive been out for Greek food. Ordered chicken souvlaki and feel it was a good portion for me..not dried out. Nice to have all the sides but would rather have had more salad than large portion of rice and potatoe wedge. Seemed above average in price point but seems all restaurants are charging more as food prices are increasing. Service was good and very friendly.
Food was average
Really Good food
Great food and drinks. The service is always good. Great dining experience
The foods so good and the server very nice and friendly
Great Greek place in Surrey! The roast lamb was soft, tender and tasted amazing. The only con is that the portion of the rice is pretty small compared to other Greek restaurants Ive been to in the Lower Mainland. The restaurant was nice and clean and not very busy when we went. Also, everything else tasted great including the calamari appetizer.
Great food and service. They went out of their way to fit us in without a reservation on a very busy night.
The food is always excellent and delicious. The waitresses are nice and attentive. I highly recommend it

Very big portions. Tasty food.
Servings were generous.
Pretty big portions. I thought it was fair value for the taste, size and experience. Had the roast lamb shoulder for just under $30. Hit the spot, Id go back. Easy parking.
Best Greek food in Surrey. Always excellent. Large menu, friendly staff and good selection of wines. Bonus - great prices! And still excellent months later!
The New York New York restaurant that we have always loved is no more. I had been going here since I was 15 years old and I am now 34. Its always been a comfort food spot just knowing that youre going to get delicious food with generous portions. Unfortunately it appears its changed ownership and new recipes are being used. I havent had bad food in a while, and as much as it pains me to say this was just bad food. I could look past the smaller portions - but the lack of flavour is tough to swallow (literally). No more garlic butter, no more delicious combinations of savory goodness. Just bland, stale textured food. Bummed because we very rarely treat ourselves for takeout and this was a big time disappointment. I feel its unethical to operate under the same name, but have nothing similar to what many have been used to for over a decade. 2 stars because the girl at the front was friendly and gorgeous. Hope the new owners can get their hands on the previous recipes!
Where a regular here. One of the best Greek restaurants I Surrey...
Loved this authentic Greek restaurant!!!
Good
Went to have dinner here with my girlfriend. Everything was going great. The calamari was great. I order a chicken souvlaki and my girlfriend ordered a lamb souvlaki. Food was tasting good and when I went to try a piece of my gf s lamb, I notice that there was hair in it. Wasn t mad about it, it happens. Told our waiter who was an older blonde lady and she was super nice about it! Apologized and voided my meal for us. Honestly wasn t looking for a free meal but happy that our waiter did something. So as we were waiting to pay, we noticed another piece of hair in the lamb souvlaki on my girlfriend s plate. Thinking that it was maybe from the same hair we wanted to let our waiter know, however a different waiter came to take our payment. Younger blonde lady. So when I went to explain the situation to her, she immediately became defensive. Saying how it s extremely rare to find one piece of hair let alone two. Basically insinuating that we planted the hair ourselves. Completely rude about it. We just wanted to let her know what we had found and was not looking for anything else seeing how they had voided one of our meals already. I wish I had stuck up for myself more but I was just shocked on how she had treated us and made us feel like sh*t. She was very dismissive and didn t show any cause for concern in ensuring our dining experience to be pleasant. In turn she proceeded to gas-light us. Completely ruined the evening. I am not desperate enough to plant hair in my food just to get free Greek food. Sucks that my family and I will have to go somewhere else now! Wish I could ve gotten the second waiters name as she was worst than the hair in the food. Would ve given zero stars if I could.
Traditional Greek food, very generous proportions. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Delicious!!!?
The roast lamb was soft, tender and tasted amazing. They increased their price alot and food portion small comparison to other Greek places around them.
A fine Greek restaurant to spend the evening with friends and neighbors.
Fantastic authentic Greek restaurant with excellent service! Best Greek restaurant around!
Was delightfully surprised, the meat was tender and my kids loved it. Cant wait to come back :)
Went with my son and we both had souvlaki. He had chicken and I had beef. Both were delicious. My favourite restaurant for Greek food. Always a great meal. Staff is friendly and attentive. Parking: Free parking Kid-friendliness: There were several families there when we were there Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible
Really bland food, chicken souvlaki was dry. And potato was under seasoned no lemon on it at all, and greek salad had no flavour. Could have made this at home, way. Better. This is why I dont eat out.
Very dissappointed with this unauthentic Greek restaurant I had the Moussaka which never even resembled Mossaka in any way There was no meat sauce, a layer of potato and a layer of cheese. It wasnt even made today it was reheated from yesterday! Brutal food thete are many real greek restaurants out there this is NOT one of them! Stay away, this is NOT greek food!
I ordered the Monster Platter via Uber Eats around an hour before closing time and was pleasantly surprised that my food still arrived fresh, hot, and tasted really good. I m usually hesitant to order food via delivery especially when its over $100, but I am thoroughly impressed with the quality and speed of service.
Just picked up food from here today and it was delicious. Definitely will be back here for more Greek food!
In the last two years we have spent almost $2000 at New York New York. When the pandemic hit, we supported them by ordering in. When they started opening their doors again, we were one of the first customers back. We ve brought family and friends here. Even when their prices started increasing and their portion sizes went down, we stayed on, trying to support a business Now this is the last straw! Tonight, we went there and were told there was a shared plate charge of $4.00 plus tax on that sharing as well. Talk about two-bitting your customers to death. My wife and I are at the age where having a plate each is just too much food. Loyalty is meaningless, just increase the price and the customers will pay it of course! WE WILL NOT. I find this practice horrible and will show my discontent with my feet (we will NOT go back). These people have absolutely no management skills whatsoever. How much is it going to cost them to find good customers like us. Good management is about keeping loyal customers, providing good service and good portion service. What used to be $23.95 is now $29.95. This is a 36% increase with 20% less on the plate less shrimp, less salad, less rice, no butter, half a potato gone, smaller pita bread, etc. etc. Do we need to add another $4 to the bill as well now for doing nothing other than providing an extra plate? Two years ago, our bill used to be around $35. today it s $55 a 36% increase in two years (now that is inflation at its finest). It s not worth it at all and obviously we will not be going back!!! When you read the reviews avoid anyone who has written more than 10 reviews. These people are paid reviewers and likely never been to the restaurant. Click on ONE STAR or the LOWEST to see the truth. Check out Josh, Kevin, Bruce, Daniella, Lawrence, Amarita and more for HONEST OPINIONS. This is a mediocre restaurant and really nothing to write home about. Where we used to get six prawns with the souvlaki we now get five, where we used to get clarified butter (garlic or plain) we now get none. Where the potatoes used to have two halves, we now get one half. The owner is obviously lying, I am well supported be many other comments. Because of the price increases (gouging) up over 36% in two years (which the owner calls moderate) I would recommend this place to no one. Let us compare Old Spaghetti Factory in October 2020 was $ 29.52 and yesterday in October 2022 it was $ 31.64. At New York Greek in October 2020 our meal was $36.78 and yesterday October 2022 it was $ 59.59 not including TIPS. That is a 62% increase and for anyone who wants it I have the bills to prove it. How does the owner of New York New York justify this. We welcome your comments below.
Came here for dinner with several family members. The meals and service was great. The 18% gratuity understable as there were 8 of us. What absolutely annoyed me and will make me not come back again was a $4 plate sharing fee. What the hell is a sharing fee. My daughters wanted to share a plate instead of getting their own meals so we were dinged $4 for sharing a plate. You would think the owners would be appreciative of people coming in and spending money in person versus ordering off of a food delivery service. Our meal was almost $300 but the owners could not live without a $4 fee. Next time my family and I will spend our money elsewhere. What a fantastic way to sour a great evening.
Good food. Family style place. Had the roast lamb. Good portion, tender meat. Food
Fantastic food, wonderful service, highly recommend.
My wife went there the other night with our daughter and 2 well behaved kids at opening. They were told they can stay an hour only??? Their appies came and enjoyed and they were just going to order from the main menu when the hostess came to tell them their hour was up and they had to leave. They spent almost $200 and still they were told their hour was up. Who does that?? They were somewhat regular diners there so it wasnt like they were new there. Unfortunately they will never go back there after that experience. These people need a wakeup call.
The dinner was delicious. I was surprised at the size of the roast lamb. It was huge. Enough to take home for 2 more meals. It was not only plentiful but one of the best roast lamb dishes Ive had. Lots of garlic. Yum. The ekmek was disappointing. Ive never had it before. It was mostly pastry (soggy on the bottom) with very little custard. I was hoping for a good taste of the custard. One of the things that put me off was how loud the restaurant was. I had trouble hearing the people I was with making conversation difficult. I should mention that we were there for dinner before a show, Comic Strippers (men) nearby. The restaurant was filled with mostly women. Many of them were talking and laughing loudly (too much wine?) making the experience less pleasant than it could have been. Not the fault of the restaurant, but they could have/should have asked folks to keep it down. Our server was delightful.
Every time I visit BC, I must come here to ingest their most flavourful and fall off the bone roast lamb. Ill make a bold statement and say if this restaurant was in Greektown, Toronto.. I would go there 90% of the time. Fight me. They also have their potatoes done perfectly with the right amount of sourness *chefs kiss*. Even the rice packs a flavourful punch. The salad always tastes super fresh. I leave satisfied every single time. Do not bother cheating with other Greek restaurants in the city because they are less of a drive... you will end up severely disappointed. This place is worth the gas. There is only one thing I wish this place had... Gyros.
Fair pricing, large portions. Food tasted great. Couldnt ask for anything more.
We ordered from skip the dishes and honestly was most horrible unflavoured meal I have had. Not to mention the order was 2 chicken souvlaki and literally smallest portion . Between the 2 orders if you are lucky one cup of rice. I spent over 60 dollars on a meal that could have been more appetizing Home made. Pita was all hard , just poor quality and chicken was literally plain chicken . Was so bad we didn t even eat . Save your money and go elsewhere or make it at home cause this by far was embarrassing. I wish I took a picture of the size. Nothing tasted good. I was so disappointed and turned off. Like was not worth even half the money. Was just awful . Very very bland boring no flavour food!!
Tried calling 3 days ago to make reservation to no avail. Phone line is either busy or they dont pick up. Its like they do not care to talk to you. I am very dissapointed and do not recommend going to a restaurant who treats there clients in this mannor.
Best Greek food I have found in Surrey.. Hands down!
Had the lamb was very very good Service was excellent Will definitely be going back
Food and service is always excellent. Best Greek food in the city
We had been going here for years. But not anymore. This was are first dinner out since the pandemic. The prices have really gone up! We decided to have the veggie platter for two, what a disappointment.
Good
Roasted lamb was good , I didnt like chicken soulvaki, chicken was dry and didnt like the quality of rice either.
COVID PRECAUTION in place. Their kalamari is so crunchy and melts in your mouth perfect with their tzatziki sauce. And the most loved Roast Lamb a LAstoria is the best! Definitely must try.
Wow this place is just what you would expect from a good Greek restaurant feels like youre at grammas place! Food is delicious, attentive service, cozy decor, well-heated (I went on a cold night and sat by a window, no draft). Its expensive, but you get what you pay for I guess.
Very good taste of food, I will visit them again
Our favourite Greek restaurant, with good food and great staff!
Tasty Food
The food is ok. A bit Over priced and not worth the money. Portions were small compared to other Greek restaurants.
Great calamari.
Really good food! Their lamb roast and calamari is the best!
Good very busy
Chicken here was kind of dry. But calamari and shrimp was great
God...
My husband and I went for our anniversary dinner on November 3rd. We have going their on our anniversary for over 20 years. My husband always has the Lamb roast, I had the veal. The portions are huge and the meat was amazing as usual. Most most of all the staff is amazing. Friendly and on the ball. You will not regret eating there. Oh and they gave us a free dessert.
Amazing food and friendly & professional service.
This restaurant is always one of my favorite spots to eat, as the food here is always delicious. The last visit I came with family and had the lamb L Astoria off the dinner menu and it was simply to die for. The meat literally melted like butter and in generously proportioned size, moreover the Greek salad was so full and crisp with not too much of any one thing and was very flavorful. New York new York greek restaurant Hasan amazing ambience as well for any kind of gathering. I give this restaurant and its very wonderful hosts, and entire staff that really make you feel like youre home when you sit to dine top marks. The prices are exceptionally reasonable for the portions and quality here. Bring youre apatite and come hungry I can promise you will leave very satisfied hands down one of the best Greek food restaurants in the lower mainland.
Amazing food and staff. Good place to eat at.
I love this place. Great aesthetic. Cheap cocktails. Awesome chicken Parm.
Best calamari I ever had. The service was really good and honest.Went in late but they were honest about closing time and our last minute late date night was still fun. I will bring my kids back next time. Cannot wait to have the calamari again.
The food, amazing. the staff are very kind and always friendly at this restaurant. The prices for the portion is well worth it however their dinner plate is bigger then the lunch portion as it should be there Id not enough stars that this reviewer can rave about ghis restaurant enough thank you for all the amazing moments when Me and my family come in.

First time coming here and we were not disappointed. My Chicken Parmigiano was great along with the Purple New York cocktail. Absolutely would recommend this place and next time will try out other cocktails which looked amazing
