Okay, first time here last night. Came as a large group with a reservation. Took 30 minutes to get our drink orders and another 25 after that to take our food order. Wish I listened to the reviews and did not come here at all. The menu and qualitiy of the food is that of a Torcadero or Olympia pizza except its not cheap AT ALL. The prices are that of high quality family owned greek restaraunt that you can always count on for being exceptional. The quality was not good. The small greek salad was 17 dollars. The tomato slices were so large I had to cut them in half, and there was not even olive oil or lemon drizzled on or any type of dressing. It was fresh though, minus some of the olives tasting funny. The calamari was super whatever. At a greek restaurant of all places, youd think ypu could count on them for calamari. It was a decent portion, but all rings, no legs on the calamari, and a little over cooked. Id give it a 6 out of 10. I am a calamari Connoisseur. The seafood Alfredo was making heavy cream and garlic with zero other flavoring. There were about 5 larger prawns in there and the quantity of baby shrimps and scallops was quite reasonable, it was the sauce that killed it for us. Please add some white wine and tone down on the garlic. Same for the tzatiki and houmous. They have a large drink menu, i did not have any, but they were cult classics and a lot of blended, coconut milk features which did sound quite yummy, and hard to find at most places these days. Our server was a young gentleman who was quite wonderful, and he did a great job. There was an autogratuity added to our bill as we were with a larger group. The bill for my son and I was 165.00! I went for dinner the night before to earls with my hubby and we each had a main, and 4 drinks and our bill was 150 and it was a way more pleasant dining experience. I definitely will not be back here, I think there is potential, they clearly do well for themselves hence why they dont feel the need to fine tune the quality of the food. Food was great, kids meals should include drink and not be charged an extra $3, kids meal should also include one scoop of ice cream for the price of the meal, considering competitive pricing. Some cutlery was not very clean however the wine glass was sparkling with no lip or water marks as seen at competitors. Some friendly staff. Waitress seemed a bit irritated when my child would talk to her. Could have been an off day. Would go back again for the food. Great steak and Greek salad. Kids meal was a decent portion but would be nice to have veggies on the plate as an option rather than just fries.

This was a favorite of my husbands years ago, and this was my first opportunity to try it. Everything was absolutely delicious! I had chicken and prawn souvlaki and it was probably the best Ive had. The place was just how I pictured it would be, and definitely full of personality. Highly recommend!

I ve ordered takeout here a couple times because I love the greek food. Tonight was my first time dining in and I was blown away! We had Alyssa taking care of us and she was the best. So accommodating with our special requests, speedy and best of all, she seemed like she actually cared. Which is so rare to see these days in the restaurant industry. 5 stars for sure, will be back.

I absolutely love visiting Royal Oak, especially on Wednesdays for their amazing pasta special! Its become a midweek treat that I look forward to every time. The baked lasagna is the star of the show rich meat sauce, and gooey cheese, all baked to perfection. Its comfort food at its finest. The portions are generous, and the flavor is incredible. If youre a pasta lover, you have to check out on Wednesdays. The Greek food is delicious as well. Roast lamb is my go too!

The worst place for having dinner on Fathers Day. Waiting one hour and a half and had to leave because we got no service. Other people waited hours too. We gave up to wait and left. Worst experience I had at such a restaurant where people waited hours to get served.

Royal Oak Restaurant provided a warm and family-oriented atmosphere, which likely contributed o a pleasant dining experience. While the food was generally good, there were some minor issues. The roast lamb, although very tender, had some salty spots, and although the portion of meat was satisfactory, the rice accompaniment was lacking. On the other hand, the dessert, a creamy pudding-style dish, was just the right balance of sweetness and firmness.Considering the price in relation to the food quality and serving sizes, it seems you might recommend this restaurant more for special occasions rather than casual dining.

I wasnt too sure about this place at first but me and my gf enjoyed a lot more than expected. The roast lamb is very delicious and tender and Im very glad that the waitress suggested me this. Worth every price for that alone and it is definitely tempting me to go back to this place again just for the lambs.

I ordered delivery. The woman who answered the phone was very pleasant. Food came within 40 minutes, as promised. Canucks playoffs are on so we thought it might take longer so that was nice. The delivery guy was friendly and professional. Food was packaged well.Id rate the lasagna 9/10. Its delivery style lasagna, nothing authentic, but good for what it is. Mama Maria didnt make it but we knew what we were getting into. We added some freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano which made it better. The garlic bread was good. We would have enjoyed 2 thinner pieces vs 1 thick piece but no big deal. Overall we are happy with Royal Oaks front of house order taker, cook, delivery gent, and lasagna deal - 2 small for $26 plus tax. $3 delivery charge plus tax brought it to $32 and change. Tipped the driver $5 cash. Please remember to tip your delivery person.

Wife and friend waited 1 hour for food never showed up then they had the nerve to charge for the 1drink they each had. No excuse no nothing. Addition: ordered at 6:40. Told waitress twice we re going to play. Finally cancelled meal at 7:35 when told they would pack up the meal for the theatre. Couple across from us came after us and got their appetizer and wine before us. Something went wrong. Please don t blame me for the bad service.

Have eaten here a few times. 1st time we ate here it was great, every other time after has been just ok. Tonight was the worst. Lamb was so salty I couldnt eat it. Notice on other reviews about food being too salty as well. Please take note. Waitress never came to ask how our meal was or I would have said it was way too salty. Tip was put on the bill with no way to change the amount up or down. We were a party of 2 so no need for the waitress to add the tip, I like to decide how much I am tipping and not being told what the tip is!!! Doubtful we will be back.

Our family has been going here for years. The food is amazing, consistently amazing. It is a family business that we are happy to support and will continue to return. They are also very accommodating with allergies and any special requests. Dietary restrictions: So nice to dine where they know what is in their food and can accommodate allergies.

We went for my birthday.onion soup I m sure was microwaved and terrible. They brought out starters ok but the main dish service was a disaster. Everyone finished there s before mine was even served. Ended up just getting to go. No comp on anything. Will not be going back. Very disappointed

My wife and I used to frequent Royal Oak often 25 years ago. We were in the neighborhood and decided to drop in for a nostalgic dinner. It was similar inside from what we remember . There was quite a few small flies around our table which wasn t great. My wife had the so called carbonara. Definitely not carbonara and more like jarred Alfredo. My pizza wasn t cooked long enough and had a soggy crust. We were disappointed and probably won t return. They seemed to have a bunch of regulars and maybe we were a one off. Still though, the restaurant needs a deep clean and get rid of the little flies. We weren t the only ones that noticed the flies neither.

I went to this restaurant for Valentines Day with my family and had an okay experience till I had noticed there was something in my food. There was toenail/finger nail clippings in my food. I felt sick after finding at least two and examining it. I was not a rude or disrespectful customer, so I had not expected this. I noticed the two Indian woman working there looking at me eat every now and then and giggle. I am so disgusted and will never eat here again. How dare you contaminate someones food like this...especially someone who has been coming here for years and never had any issues. This is disgusting. Not only was that in my food, but there is fruit-flies everywhere. This restaurant needs to shut down and whichever cook agreed to sabotage my meal needs to be locked up. I will be contacting a lawyer about this.

Went in for dinner on Valentines Day and was so disgusted by the number of flies in the restaurant. Makes you wonder how dirty the kitchen is. The health board needs to investigated. Will not be returning, and I dont recommend anyone else does.

This was a very disappointing evening for me when ordering food. It was over 45 minutes late and added to that it was barely warm. Yes it was New Years Eve. The driver basically through it at me when he arrived. When I phoned the restaurant to complain about it, I was called sweetheart which is very unprofessional and as well it was my fault. Not sure how cold and late food is my fault. The owner said they would credit me 10.00. Please be warned it s not as good as it sounds.

Bowl of soup very small, feels like cup size and over priced. Tastes like campbell soup with deadly amount of salt. Told our server about the it being overly salty, and got a reply roughly: Never heard anyone say that. What a great response. Kota Skaras the thigh & leg are ok, but the breast is very dry, tough, and bland taste. The salad came as the side was good tho, generous amount of feta and veggies tastes fresh. The pita bread was good too.

Our first time and last. Food was overly salty and oily. We mentioned it to our server and she looked at us blankly. It was so awkward. It was like, oh well, its your problem, We asked for cheese and chilly flakes and she didnt bring it to us; we were there 30 - 45 mins after we asked The dumb part is, it was not busy. So the excuse that they werent being attentive, didnt care about the quality is very alarming especially for the pricing. I have a saying, if its cheap, you cant complain, but if its worse than McDonalds, now we have a problem. Save your money. I didnt want to tip for the kitchen and service.

We had not been here for awhile and wow has the quality changed as well as the attention to the order . Three roasts lambs were so salty we couldn t even finish them. Out of 3 salads there was probably less than one tomato and the dressing was just oil no taste at all, but the veggies were fresh. The other thing that really spoke to the customer service was that we ordered a calamari dinner, and they gave us an appy , then charged for a dinner. When we called back the man said honest mistake .An honest mistake would be mistakenly thinking we ordered an appy and charging us for an appy. Overall, not the restaurant it used to be. Maybe new owners?

We Ordered 3 roast lambs and 1 calamari entree for take out. We picked it up and when we got home they gave us the calamari appetizer. On the bill they wrote calamari appetizer but charged us for the entree. We were given the appetizer with no rice, Greek salad or potato like we should have been. When we called them to explain the incident they told us it was an honest mistake that was not an honest mistake, an honest mistake would been thinking we ordered an appy and charging is for an appy but to write appy on the bill with the entree price was not a mistake. Our lamb was also disgustingly salty that we couldn t even finish it and there was absolutely no dressing on the Greek salad. Extremely bland. Just vegetables and feta. I use to really enjoy this restaurant but it has gone down hill immensely. (Maybe new owners running it?) For the price we paid it was definitely not worth the money. Would not recommend going here.

It was around 8 pm, we called several Greek restaurants, no one answered, except Royal Oak. To be honest, we havent tried it before and I was really craving roast lamb. We ordered take out and the food was so delicious, huge portions, full of flavor, bread is fresh, potatoes are tasty, rice is yummy. I highly recommend this little gem and I will for sure visit again and again.

Not the best Greek restaurant Ive been to, but overall it was pretty good. Since this was our first time here, we ordered the Greek Platter which gave us a variety of food to eat. Some of the food was a little bland and the lamb was tough but the portions were a lot more than we expected. We had enough for dinner the next night. The staff was great and the service was amazing. Just a note that the main parking is in the back of the building and for a first timer, it was not easy to get to.

I wish there had been more useful reviews before I visited this place for the first time after seeing its existence for so many years.. it said the pizza here was good?? I found nothing special about their signature Royal oak pizza at all. There was no interesting sauce and it was pretty salty. I did kind of like the mango coconut daquiri though.

Wanderful place with a wonderful lady. It s a family business and they do it very well for many years now from generation to generation. Tasty food options and very nice staff and owners. They have a bar too. I recommend this place to have a nice time. These 5stars are mostly for the service.

Pasta night is the night to go, and the table service is good. Portion can be a little excessive depending on the plate. Would recommend for the Greek platters.

One of the worst restaurants in surrey. went there total of 4 times to see if it varies but what happens is usually within 1 minute of ordering the food arrives at your table - Hot on the outside but frozen cold in the middle and the meat is chewy because they microwaved the food every time. Its all frozen food they microwave and serve for 30$ per item average price. Microwaved food for 30$ plus tax is a worse deal than garbage mcdonalds food . Dont waste your money. Go to any restaurant then coming here. Also the waiters are always busy on their phone gossiping doing nothing while on phone. Jennifer is one of the waiters didnt provide any service and didnt even care about our dissatisfaction always had a rude voice. Even with 0 customers in the entire restaurant they failed to provide a cooked meal for nearly 70$ total for 2 people and provide a half decent service . Dont bother going there to spend premium money for worse than fastfood microwaved garbage. Edit : The store manager will publicly criticize you or call you out saying you re wrong as a customer then send out personal attacks is against you . The business is a total joke and possibly with Health hazard everyone beware they have been no ethical practices in service check out all the other negative reviews now imagine what type of procedures and complacency / oversight they are not following according to health code in the kitchen while serving you microwaved or reheated food for 70$

First time ordering from Royal Oak. Luckily the side of chicken I ordered for my dog was awesome. The baked seafood penne was a large portion - but I couldn t eat it. The sauce had broken or curdled and the whole item was left tasting really off (Doordash).

For a restaurant thst has stood by time, it is not bad. The food is actually really good than the service and ambience of the place. As a matter of fact my server looked a bit all over the place, not sure if it was her style or just a off day. However the taste and quality of food made up for it. I will definately be visiting again for that roast lamb.

Not very good dining experience considering it was my sons birthday. We didnt feel a welcoming vibe considering the food taste just a little more ordinary. Most of the people there were seniors from the old world speaking their languages. Middle aged men behind the counter were not on a smiling mood but look angry and seems a bit racist with attitude. This restaurant is old and smells. Our waitress though was nice and decent. Not coming back.

I used to eat here once a week. I have experienced horrible vibes from the owners based on pure discrimination. I have even had several employees tell me their own horror stories about being discriminated against. These people will never get my money again. Also, the quality of food has become extremely poor over time.

The everyones dinner was cold except the pizza it was actually amazing but everyones dinner was cold except the pizza and she took our orders before we had drinks!! She probably could have got another drink from everyone if we didnt feel so rushed to get out of there! Review is based on takeout experience. Food was ordered over the phone, and was ready for pickup at the agreed upon time. Everything was hot and fresh (or cold where applicable, like salads). Prices are good, and the portions are generous. The food is well cooked. The lamb shoulder was excellent - moist and well prepared. Tzatziki is great, and the pita was nice and fluffy. The place was busy inside, seemed to have a nice neighborhood pub vibe to it, with folks having a drink and watching the game when I stopped in to pickup the order. Definitely recommended if youre looking for good Greek food in the Fleetwood area.

Very much enjoyable dinner last night here at the Royal Oak Restaurant. The service was awesome, with our service being super nice and friendly, along with delicious food. We had a few appetizers and either the calamari or sautéed mushrooms being the best. Freshly friend calamari was tender and crispy batter. Mushrooms were also tender and has a ton of bite to them, a lot of flavor as well. We also had the garlic prawn appy which was not too bad. Prawns were decently flavoured and tender too. I think the pita bread could definitely be improved. Might come down to preferences but, would rather have a soft pita bread. Pita bread also did not seem as fresh as other items. Mains were awesome. Had the roast lamb (cant really go wrong here). Fall of the bone tender and tons of flavor from all the spices. The dish came with rich, salad and roast potatoes. Fairly large portion. I thunk the fav would have to be the chocolate torte for dessert. Loved the sponge cake here along with the chocolate sauce all over. The cake base was just the perfect level of spongy-ness for me and was also not overly too sweet. Loved it. We also tried their baklava which was pretty good. Generally not my kind if dessert tho.

I went here on the 21st of June for my boyfriends little brothers graduation the food was good but unfortunately I got strep throat from eating here, I did notice a worker was sitting at one of the tables in the main room cleaning dishes so I m assuming the dishes were not cleaned properly or someone in the kitchen had strep and sneezed or coughed onto my food :(

I ve always heard good things about this place and we finally tried it and it didnt disappoint at all three of us went in for a belated birthday dinner and all had greek dishes they were tasty husband had the calamari dinner and he said it didnt disappoint and it was tasty the salads are fresh the rice pilaf is full.of flavour our only complaint was from.our mother in law who joined us shes a senior and found our booth a little dark but otherwise this is a decent place with fresh good Greek food and friendly service staff well be back

Parking: The parking lot is small, but it seems like there is a spot when you need it. Wheelchair accessibility: The entrance is flat, and there are tables with chairs that can be moved.

I thought at first was good but the quality of the food is terrible considering its a Greek Restaurant. I ordered Calamari dinner ,seafood pasta and it was absolutely fail. Calamari was soaking in oil ,pasta was just nothing but cream very bland . My son said that it was a terrible meal. Again after 6 months later craving for pasta I have no choice ordered same pasta but sadly, the cook doesnt seem to understand or see what theyre offering to customers, the pasta taste like nothing. My 10 year old daughter can cook better than guys. Never going back to this restaurant . I recommend other Greek Restaurant ..

As usual excellent meals and portions. Had 2 roast lambs, prawn solvaki, chicken oregano, chicken teriyaki and pizza with pineapple for 2 sons birthday dinner. Greek salads, rice, roast potatoes and pita breads included. Tzakiki is great although extra large side was missed.

Royal Oak is a vegetarian restaurant. I love their vegetarian pizza, lasagna and pasta. Vegetarian platter is not recommended unless you like sour food.

We reserved Thanksgiving dinner for last night as we enjoyed it so much last year. I don t think I ever want to cook thanksgiving dinner again. Everyone is always so kind and friendly. The food is delicious every time and the homemade cheesecake is to die for. Thank you for an all around amazing service every time.

1) I got 2 orders of escargot and it was by far the worst my husband and I have had. It was completely black with parts melting off, the taste was extremely bland and lacked seasoning. It had the texture/appearance/taste of the ones in a can. 2) The garlic bread was also quite charred, tasted burnt and was way too oily. Will not be ordering from, nor be coming back to this restaurant ever again

Went for dinner last night. Hadn t been for over 5 years I think or more? Food was excellent. Shared the vegetarian platter with hubby. It was a good value as we took home leftovers. Best dolmades ever with a creamy lemon dill sauce. Great for families or couples. They have nice cozy booths. The bathrooms are updated. I am looking forward to eating here again or take out. Vegetarian options: Dolmades spanakopita and potatoes and rice and bread Dietary restrictions: They will do their best to accommodate. Not sure if any gluten free or vegan options but a few good vegetarian options. Would be great if they had more. Like a veggie only moussaka or vegan dessert. Parking: Ample parking around the back. Few spots in front. Kid-friendliness: High chairs available (I think) Wheelchair accessibility: Yes except for second level.

We have been dinning here since the 70s. The food and service are really good.

Prime rib was so thin, dry and way overcooked. Same went for the salmon Oscar. Baked french onion tasted good, but it was like the cook just sprinkled cold cheese on top of soft bread in the bowl of soup. Best thing we had was the side of rice and the soft drink.

Pizza is excellent and the taste and quality of their souvlaki is wonderful. I was not expecting the food to be this good, but I was very pleasantly surprised!

Loved the Lamb slouvaki, great service.Friendly staff Confortable seating. Cant wait to visit next time we come to BC

Very vanilla boring food....Greek doesnt compare to the competitions greek food. Bland unseasoned proteins and Greek salad had zero olive oil or lemon. Rice was decent and potato was good. Menu was unending, promising everything 2 everyone and really missing the mark for flavour and my choice of fare. Overall...my Greek Food is waaaay more authentic,fresh and certainly more attention to flavour. Not my choice for Greek and too much on the menu. Even if u do 1 thing really well you will be successful but when u attempt too many items it is like a set up for failure. Less is more js. Cocktails however looked legit and proper. Food was delicious, although the French oinon soup was way too salty. However at our table of 6, two of us were served the wrong meal and were told if they give us the correct meal it would take a long time (they wrre super busy) so would be faster if we kept the wrong dish.
