My experience was so good especially with the server Ms. Krisha, she suggested me the dishes I should try and I trusted her and she didn t let me down. I had an absolutely amazing experience at The Honest Restaurant, and I cant recommend it enough! If youre craving authentic Indian street food, this place is an absolute gem. The flavors were spot-on, delivering that rich, bold taste that you can only find on the bustling streets of India. Every dish was perfectly spiced, fresh, and absolutely delicious it felt like I was transported straight to a street food stall in Gujarat, Delhi&Mumbai. A special shoutout to Krisha, who took care of us with exceptional service. She was warm, attentive, and really knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations and making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The service was bad, and the staff didn t seem to know much about the restaurant. The food was very poor. Even though it s called a Gujarati restaurant, they don t know how to cook Gujarati food. The food was oily, smelled bad, and had no taste. They couldn t even make good coffee. I wouldn t tell anyone to go there, not even for free.

The only reason why I m giving overall 3 rating is because their food is really good. Their service literally sucks. Let s say 1 star from each of us. We are a family of 3, and ordered 3 items through Uber Eats. These people just sent 2 items, which arrived almost an hour after the order was placed. After calling the guy who delivered, he said he got only 1 package. Understandable as it s not his fault. Called the restaurant and they said that 1 item just got out of stock. They didn t have the decency to either let the delivery guy know so that he can give us a call, or replace that item with something else. Here we are, a family of 3 adjusting with a dinner of 2. It just felt stupid and idiotic that the guys running this business couldn t even think of informing the delivery guy, let alone the customer.

It was empty n after eating the food I realize why

Beware of the cheeky server! During my visit with family, I was shocked by how gratuity was handled. At the end of the meal, the server claimed, We encourage customers to pay 18%, and before I could even decide what I felt was reasonable, she selected the option on the credit card payment machine by herself and expected me to pay. I found this extremely pushy and inappropriate but refrained from blasting her as I did not want to create a commotion. This isn t the first time I ve noticed questionable practices at this restaurant. Previously, their Unlimited Thali rule forced everyone at the table to order an unlimited option or settle for a limited version yet another way they try to squeeze more out of their customers. Considering how expensive the food is already, this behavior is unacceptable. I hope the owners take note and address these concerns. Has anyone else faced similar issues with gratuity here?

Honestly, Im so glad I stumbled upon this place! The Indian street food and Gujarati cuisine are insane! You can tell the owner is super passionate about sharing their culture through food. The service is warm and fuzzy, like youre part of the family. 10/10, would totally recommend.Were already planning our next visit!

I ordered Maharaja thali. I would rate it 3.75 out of 5. It can be better. I would recommend it though. Maybe more healthy options for breads and more variety of vegetables.

Me and my friend went here for dine in . It was my first time visiting this restaurant . I am Gujarati and I was very happy after finding all Gujarati food on their menu . I ordered kadhi khichdi , Manchurian , and kaju shake . It was good quantity is bit less but still it was amazing apart from this the customer service was best . Thanks to the boy working there and I think his name was vedant. I found amazing service .

We were a group of 20 for a Deepawali celebration and we really enjoyed the dinner. The owners Purak & Daksh made us feel special. The service was excellent and the Maharaja Thali was awesome. First time had an authentic Gujarati thali in Vancouver. Everything in the thali was delicious. Quantity was good too. Great food at a great price. The owners and servers were excellent. They brought so many extra things to the table for us to try free. Will definitely come back to try other items.

Food is a bit hit or miss. I loved it last time I was here before the current visit. But on this visit, on Aug 23rd, the food quality was so so. I found the server to be a bit weird. We (group of 3) asked to be seated at a corner table, sure it was meant for 5 people, and we were told that it was reserved even though the place was almost empty. And when another group of 4 walks in and just went to that spot, and she did not say anything. Not very customer service oriented, at least to us

I had ordered Khaman, White Dhokla and Pav Bhaji, unfortunately everything stale. I reached out to the desk , and he in turn had a word with the kitchen staff and they accepted that the batter used to prepare the dish was stale. I have no qualms with anyone but my point is you should not risk anyone s life for an order , a human life is way more than an order. A humble request to respect human health and not do this to anyone ever. Also I am amazed there was no apology and the restaurant didn t even tried reaching out to me as promised so compelled to post here.

We had an amazing experience at the restaurant, largely thanks to our incredible waiter named bhumi .From the moment we sat down, she was friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing. She made excellent recommendations on both food and drinks, tailoring them to our preferences with great knowledge about the menu. We tried the Pav Bhaji and Aloo Paratha at Honest Restaurant, and both were delicious. Our server, Krisha, was friendly and informative, making the experience even better.

We tried ordering Fafda Jalebi 2 days ago as they said they are fully booked and can make order day after tomorrow by 12PM. When we went there, they said they dont have any order under my name. Only good thing that they aknowledge there mistake ang prepared our order as food was ready. We ordered Jalebi Fafda from 2 days ago. Quality of Jalebi is so bad, its seems like too stale.

Terrible experience. Servers consistently mess up orders and are excessively slow. Staff is unwelcoming, rude, and seems to avoid work. Atmosphere is stressful and unpleasant. Not recommended for anyone seeking a peaceful meal. Save yourself the frustration and dine elsewhere.

Disappointing experience. Ordered rava onion masala dosa, waited 20 minutes only to be told they made rava masala dosa instead. Agreed to take it, but 10 minutes later server falsely claimed order was never placed. Poor communication, long wait times, and dishonesty from staff. Ironic for a restaurant calling itself honest. Cannot recommend. Management needs to improve operations and customer service significantly.

We came in at 9:15 we were seated at 9:54 and served at 10:10 due to which I could not enjoy my food I was disappointed The worst part is people who came after us got seated it was then they pointed to the server that we have been waiting before them. I live gujarati food but I hate waiting never visiting again we wasted almost 60$

Honest should stop advertising about their unlimited thali. Its nonsensical that everyone in the group ought to order unlimited thalis as otherwise it becomes a limited thali for those who wanted to have unlimited thali. How can the restaurant force everyone to eat unlimited thali and not whatever they desire!! The owners need to be customer focused and keep things simple. While I wanted to just get up and leave however thought of first giving their thali a try hoping it would make my experience better however most of the veggies had way too much oil in it and the portion for a limited thali was so little!!!!. I have been there a few times and somehow I feel its going downhill. Though there are some good dishes that I like if theirs but they need to step up their game. Win over your customers and they will pay whatever price be.

I visited there first time in August 2024 to try South Indian dishes. The food is very tasty, delicious and 100% authentic. The areas of improvement is to: This place need more servers. I feel so bad for the only one girl works there as a server and being used by the restaurant as her peak capacity. It is very hard for a one server to maintain the service level as best, as well as it is also make a long wait for a customer to be seated when there are no one to welcome them. Please hire more servers so we can enjoy more visit there with less wait The second thing is please buy some new cutlery because they most of the glasses plates look too old specifically the transparent glasses. So basically I ordered loaded cheese puff it was cold , other than that I ordered veg biryani it was tasteless and also we ordered bhakri pizza there was not even proper stuffing or veggies on that and I have seen only cheese nothing else , service was good but as a Gujarati I won t visit this restaurant again you should at least serve delicious food with a good quality. I am seriously disappointed with your food.

The food was awful. We asked for sev usal at 11 30 am, and they open at 11 am, and said they were already out of it. How can you not have food right after half an hour of opening. The vada pav and dabeli were awful in taste, and most of the gujarati dishes were not available. Worst food and service, we got in honest. Calgary honest is far way better than this. Even the masala pav we ordered was very dry and not up to the mark. We drove specially for the gujarati food and brunch but got very disappointed. I would not recommend to any.

I had really good experience with some other honest outlets but the food at this location is not up to the mark. We ordered Pizza and Pav bhaji .Pizza tasted like they only had some cheese on the base no flavour of veggies or the sauce. Pav Bhaji was okay, Jain pav bhaji is too watery feels more like a soup.

I have been visiting this location since it opened, but todays experience was far below my expectations. The Pav Bhaji we ordered was cold and lacked flavor, and the Pulav had uncooked rice. Additionally, the Waiters forgot two kids meals, causing us to wait for an hour and a half. There seemed to be a shortage of staff, and there was no visible supervisor or manager to address the issues. This will be my last visit to this location, as it no longer meets the standard for Gujarati food. Sorry but its true experience.

Had the Maharaja Thali and it was super disappointing. Felt like the chef didnt even taste his own food before serving it. The vegetables didnt have any flavour profile, the thepla was hard, the sadest part was the undiyo was the most disappointing element on that plate. The only good thing that I can say was the roti, dhokla and puri was good. Highly disappointed wouldnt recommend it to someone who wants anything remotely authentic. On the other hand, my husband had the pav bhaji and he said it was tasty.

Worst food full of salt dosas was remake but still full of salt . Dosa batter need to be reviewed whoever is creating recepies for this franchise.We specifically went to try dosas with a family spent more then 150 dollar just for tasteless and salty Dosas.

We went to Honest this last Saturday & had 1 x Maharaja Thali , 1 x Veg Fried Rice , 1x Bahubali Sandwich & we tried the Channa Bhatura Set for the first time. Once again the Veg Fried Rice, Bahubali Sandwich were excellent . However I was surprised to see that the Channa Bhatura Set (2 x Bhatura, 1 Bowl of Channa, Raita in a small dish, Gulab Jamun , Onions & Carrots (North Indian Salad) had all these items & was very good in taste. (Infact the best in Lower Mainland). Maharaja Thali was again disappointing in lack of real vegetables like Okra, Eggplant, Cauliflower, Beans etc & we informed the same to the Staff to convey same to Owners. However there was one disturbing issue we observed & that was some persons brought a dog to sit with them on the sofas ! (I have never seen Dogs being allowed into a restaurant & that too a Veg Restaurant !) This should be stopped -if Honest Restaurant does not want to loose customers. All Restaurants normally place a board stating NO PETS or DOGS ALLOWED Overall the food at Honest is otherwise good , even though prices are about 15 % higher than other restaurants serving similar food. We re-visited Honest Restaurant after a few weeks again. We had two Maharaja Gujerati/Rajasthan Thalis, Bahubali Sandwich , Veg Fried Rice, Vada Pav, Lime Soda Spicy , Faloodas. The Maharaj Thalis cost $30 each & have free refills. Unfortunately though the Thali has Puris, Chappati, Parotta etc etc ,all the accompaniments are bean , lentil based Dhals & there were NO VEGETABLES -like Okra, Cauliflower, Eggplant , Potatoes etc. Further there was No Raita, Dahi or Yoghurt based dishes other than a Curd Yoghurt which appeared dry. The Crackers were not fried Papad but cheap fryums. There was Shrikhand & other Sweets, a Samosa & some kachori. Due to the lack of the items mentioned, the Thali left one with an Unsatisfied feeling. Thalis should have vegetables , yoghurt , raita & other standard items found in Gujerati Thalis -but with a sweetish taste. The Fried Rice was excellent however & very well made & unlike many restaurants in lower mainland (which do not have condiments to accompany) Honest Restaurant served it with Cut Green Chillis in Soya Sauce, Tomato & Chilli sauces. The Vada Pav was satisfactory but Faloodas were average. Previous occassion we had Masala Dosa , but the Coconut chutney was watery & tasteless - not spicy . The Dahi Vada we had earlier was too sweet & not made with spicy chillis. The Bahubali Sandwich was excellent . Overall the food at Honest is good . Restaurant is very clean , spacious, airy with nice ambience. The Service was excellent & Mr.Sahej & Ms. Anjali gave great service. We will continue to patronise Honest Restaurant & it is hoped the Owners modify their Thalis to include real vegetable dishes & youghurt items.

The worst restaurant you will ever found in Surrey the staff is very rude. I ve ordered pav bhaji from this restaurant and the staff charged me for the extra butter. The food was also really bad and it feels like as if the food was not fresh and they really need to change the staff.

I ordered panipuri and it came with 12 pieces which I didn t know (my fault I didn t read it) but it was delicious and I ate it all and was completely full that I had to take the paranthans at home with me. The server was super kind to replace my gulab jamun with rasmalai that came with my 2 paranthans. Not just their service but their food was actually good and I m talking about the dahi that came with paranthans it wasn t just plain or watery where like most restaurant have their dahi was like home made and really delicious. My mom don t like to eat out and that s why she didn t order anything but she just came with me and she even tried it and was amazed was good it was and praised them. The paranthas weren t just fried in oil which I really loved that and it came with a desert that was a + point for sure!! Definitely coming back whenever I can. Thank you for everything.

I visited the restaurant with my family 2nd time today. I ignored serving issues 1st time because food was good. Today, I felt server were so unprofessional that they were running away from new visitors and even didnt care to provide simple water to a family of kids after taking order. We were just waiting and waiting, and 10mins passed. We canceled our order and left the restaurant. A restaurant can hire Sanjeev Kapoor for the kitchen. However, not properly giving training to their servers is full waste of money and hard work.

This is the best pure vegetarian spot to enjoy with family. The ambience is delightful, the food is tasty, and the prices are reasonable with plenty of options to choose from. A special shout-out to the Chinese food its incredibly delicious and brings back the authentic taste of Gujarats street Chinese food. My favourite is the Manchurian Fried Rice.

Food quantity was good, dry munchoorian was best of all the items we ordered, bahubali dosa was soggy, golgappa pani could be better and poor waitress was all by herself to serve the tables so was taking too long to get our food and drinks, need some music for good vibes! All you could hear was other people talking! Will come back to try other stuff

I trusted the reviews and tried their food but it didn t meet my expectations. The quality was not that good. It was sooo oily. Moreover it wasn t organized properly, after finishing one dish we had to order it twice because the second one was coming. It took so long that we were not even in mood to eat more.

Really slow service, and the server does not come for half hours or more. Well honestly not servers fault bec the management should know the importance of customers and time. We had ordered chole bhature, for which they made us wait one and half hours to get our food even after requesting several times. And they said yes for customizing to make spicy but again very disappointed.

This review is only based on customer service as I went there to pick up a skip order and being completely ignored by the servers. There was already a man standing before me waiting for same reason and on being asked he also said that he was waiting for more than 10 mins for being helped. Told one of the servers that we were waiting for our order and was asked to wait on the same spot. While a white person walked in after us and was acknowledged instantly. Request to the owner, please start teaching ur staff to be respectful towards other people doing their job and stop being racist.

The best vegetarian restaurant in BC offers great service and excellent food. The hospitality is top-notch, and the staff is exceptionally friendly. Management personally checks in with each guest to ensure they have a great experience. The quality of service and the attention to customer satisfaction that make all the difference.

We were there yesterday. Its a Gujarati restaurant, and food was a breath of fresh air. Different from what you get at all other North indian restaurants in surrey. We tried the Chinese bhel and the baseball sandwich. Both were good preparations, and the staff is nice. Will go again to try the rest of their food.

We ordered gujarati thali Ordered more rotis Employee said if you have shared the thali we will charge $3 for extra rotis which doesn t make any sense. We did not shared the food with each other they said no the thali was shared we did order 2 separate meals, which made our whole mood bad. Now We will Think about it before going to back restaurant.

Restaurant policy for their Gujarati Thalis are insensible

Dont even try maharaja thali its not unlimited its scams. If you friend come with you just even try one bite from you that thali will be limited no more unlimited and there employee and owner reply on that really rude. Owner need to understand what customer need. one bite is not the whole thali if any one can try they oder next time. But owner has really bad attitude...

Love this place. Much better than the Honest in Bellevue - we travel often from Seattle area. Plenty of Jain options to pick from. The service is fantastic too - special call out for Bhoomi who is so friendly and caring. She goes out of the way to make sure the guests feel special. Dietary restrictions: Jain and Swami Narayan options galore

Me and my family went here for lunch. Once we ordered bhature and it took about 35 mins for ONE PLATE to come. And there were only three of us. after that we took the first bite and the inside was not cooked at all. We showed the staff and they said it was cooked and if compare their food to other restaurants it is very dry. I recommend to not come here

I had an exceptional dining experience at Honest Restaurant. The service was top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff. The taste is just like Gujarats Honest Restaurant. Its amazing, and the food they serve is delicious. However, the price does not match the quantity; the portions are very small. Despite this, the quality of the food is excellent. I am very satisfied with Honest Restaurant. Their sweet called Pan Barfi is amazing. Vegetarian options: 100% pure veg restaurant

Recently visited this restaurant it was very good experience , they have amazing Gujarati thali I guess biggest in west canada . I also have different Gujarati farsan . Not only Gujarati but I tried Pavbhaji , dosa , pulav , street food and many more thing . Everything was upto the mark they also have Swaminarayan and jain options available

It was ready good experience. Visited twice this month. Drove from Vancouver Island and stopped to find vegetarian options in Vancouver. Ordered Manchurian, Bhakhri pizza, Puff, Vada Pav was very delicious. Cassata ice cream tasted like cherry on the cake. Experienced Indian original taste in all items. Customer service was excellent. One of the best vegetarian restaurant in the Vancouver.

I had a great experience at this place. The pav bhaji almost tasted like the original Honest back in India. We also tried the sev khamani, which was good, but we didnt expect it would be served with lots of dry fruits on it because thats not how we get in Surat. I would love it without the dry fruits. Im excited to try the sandwiches and pulao during my next visit. Thanks for coming to Vancouver. As a Gujarati, it feels great to eat food that matches the taste of Gujarat.

Due to the quality of food and service of Honest chain, back in India, we went there for dinner with similar expectations. First of all, there was no body at the front to assign us the table. We had to wait there for some time to be attended (even after the waitress saw us couple of times, but ignored). Afterwards, when we ordered food, we specifically told the server to serve us munchow soup first and then main course. However, they served us Pav Bhaji first. Then, when we again called them for the same, they took the pav bhaji back. But then we were served Masala Dosa and Rose Lassi. We told them for the third time, but their answer was PLEASE START WITH MAIN COURSE FIRST, WE WILL BRING MUNCHOW SOUP LATER ON, DUE TO RUSH. (Note: there was no waiting, and 3-4 tables were also empty.) How can you say that to your customer that you compromise due to us being in rush!!! Also, the cutlury were dirty, so we had to ask them to change them. Due to the above mentioned incident, we had to cancel the the starter. Afterwards, when we asked the server to provide us the bill (the breakdown of items), she told us, DONT WORRT, WE DID NOT CHRGE YOU EXTRA, I KNOW YOU HAVE CANCELLED THE STARTER., but did not provide us the breakdown bill. Food was not bad but we are totally disappointed with the service we were provided.

Hi, well I visited in honest first time its really my first time experience in this restaurant. I visited a lot of places but this one is my favourite restaurant now because of the service and the staff. I met with Bhumi and Anjali who s doing work there they help me put for the food suggestion and i really enjoyed the food as well and they very good behave with everyone i wish they will be managers here because they manage well and we all like their services keep it up Bhumi and Anjali you are really good and i want to visit this place again and again in future. Thank you for best food we really love it .

Disappointed! If you are lover of original Honest flavour pavbhaji then I would say its not even near to their taste. Honest is popular for its pavbhaji and sadly this restaurant failed to deliver their original taste. I have visited Honest pavbhaji which is in Seattle and taste was almost same as original honest pavbhaji. If you observe some images of pavbhaji very closely pav is local and tasteless we can make better pav at home than this. One of the key element of Honest pavbhaji is their pav which is different (long and thin loaded with butter) compared to other pavbhaji which is missing here and due to that whole taste of pavbhaji becomes ordinary. Hope they will improve the taste of pavbhaji but for now its not even near to honest pavbhaji. Do not order cheese pavbhaji quantity of cheese is very less you can hardly taste it.

Restaurant was very busy . A good sign. First time for me. Made me feel I was in Gujarat , India. The food was exceptional. Tasty, flavourful but not overly spicy. We ordered the Maharaja Thali - it had 4 Sabzi, Khadi, daal and rice, puri, thepla, roti, three sweet dishes and several savoury sides such as samosa, kachori etc . And lassi. I would highly recommend this place. I know it s a new place and usually there are things to streamline, I would recommend to the owner to train the team of servers to check in on customers. Personally recommended to try there Maharaja Thali comes with 30+ items and all items are unlimited sufficient for one person. Never tried Gujrati food before but i love it so i will be continuing to try it more from here only.

It was our first time dine in experience after reading so many good and less bad reviews, We delhi People always comparing food with delhi India, and its hard to find the taste as we want to. However we ordered dosa uttpam vada pao fried rice , we didnt like anything apart from i liked vada pao which was ok kind . Sambhar was like arhar daal taste , i guess the best south indian is mayuri, we wanted momos they said they dont have and uttpam was under cooked not tasty at all and i ordered plain dosa for my little one and she didnt like since it tastes like different oil .. restaurant is good from inside not many people, may be because of week day anyways, service was good we wont go back to this one.. and we paid some 109$ including tip for 3 adults and one kid which I think is too much and gave tip also since no option for no tip or i am not sure

My honest review for honest restaurant is This is a must try place I went to the restaurant around 6pm and at that time there were around 7 filled tables Sehaj is the only person I saw who was serving around. He must be so tired after serving many customers. But he always had a great smile and explained everything very well. Also,

I ordered stuffed gollgappe and pav bhai. Gollgappe were only stuffed with ice cold curd with no chutneys and mashed potato in it. Pav Bhai was good but they lack in service. When my order arrived I requested her to bring extra buns and she confirmed iI. After waiting 15 mins for 2 buns, I requested her again and server was like she doesnt have any idea what Im talking about. In a meantime, I already finished eating bhaji and than, she brings the extra buns. There were hardly 2 customers in the restaurant and they have 2 servers so its quite irritating when you go to the restaurant for a good food and service but did not receive anything like that.

Good food, nice amenities and staff also provide nice service. Must try.

Had the best mumbai street food in a long time.

Great vegetarian restaurant in the neighbourhood. Really good atmosphere and welcoming staff. The foid options are very different from the other Indian joints in Surrey and thats not a bad thing. Its mainly Street food with shareable plates. We had a large variety including their dosa, sandwich, samosa, golgappe, puff, Manchurian, fried rice, noodles etc., the food was very tasty and authentic. This restaurant really Waris hard so that you dont miss non-veg options and enjoy what they have to offer. Will definitely be going here again.

I absolutely love this place! The staff was just super friendly! And the food was fantastic! This is my new favorite restaurant! I am going to come here again! I tried the pav bhaji, chlor bhature, and the hakka noodles, all of them were just amazing! I also tried the hot pot it was not the best but it was still delicious. Definitely recommend!
