It's a new opening restaurant in town. I came here the first time and ate curry. The food was ok, and a bit salty. I might visit again to try different dishes next time. I like the self-ordering monitor, which is simple to use with pictures and very convenient.
Finally a Kokoro in Surrey! I had read previous reviews about the parking situation. There is no parking at the resto, however, at City Hall across the street there is Public Parking on P1. It is 1.50 an hour or a flat $3.00 for the evening after 4PM. I paid $3 and it covered the whole night. Food: I come here for the mazesoba. For my fellow filipino's I'd describe it as a Japanese version of palabok. We ordered Katsu Curry and Carbonara Mazesoba this time. Both were good and did not disappoint. There is free upgrade to large size.. Also you have the option of free rice ball at the end to soak up your sauce. It's a diff flavour profile and worth it if you have the space. Service: I was seated right away. There are tablets on each table to order. The food came out quite quick as well. If uou need something, the servers are attentive and did check up on us through out our meal. You also have the option to call them through the tablet. Overall, I'll be back! If you're in the area, come by and give them a try if you're looking for something a little diff from your normal ramen. Though if you're craving that, they have that too!
Mazesoba here never gets boring, and the ramen is solid too. I’m not vegan, but I tried their vegan option, and it was great, kind of like tomato pasta. The staff was really friendly. I think some people here are a bit harsh on new places. You can always give feedback to help them improve. Overall, great food, a nice atmosphere, and friendly staff. We weren’t sure about parking at first, but when we called, they gave clear instructions, so no issues there. I like supporting new local restaurants, and I’d say I’m a pretty picky customer. I can be harsh when needed, like if I give feedback and they ignore it or don’t put in the effort. But here, I had some minor feedback and they were really open to it.
Visited the new location but slightly disappointed with the quality and quantity of the food. I’ve visited the Brentwood and the North Road locations however surprised that the Chashu Bowl was very empty. Usually they fill it up at the other locations and the taste of the Ebi Mayo was dissatisfying. For $14.65, you would expect that it would be better tasting. Parking isn’t the best either as we had to park across the street at the Library/City Hall. Service was great and they had a screen where you could order and split the bill without making it confusing.
If you're hoping for quality food or attentive service, this place just isn’t it. From the start, it was a frustrating experience. We were told to order on a tablet, which would’ve been fine—except that no server checked in afterward, not even for basics like water. The ramen and maze soba took ages, and when the dishes were finally ready, they sat on the kitchen counter untouched for a good ten minutes. Servers just glanced over, ignored them, and walked away as if the food—or we—didn’t exist. The restaurant wasn’t even busy, yet tables were cluttered and the staff seemed totally out of sync. When our ramen finally arrived, the noodles were soggy and almost brothless. The maze soba was a letdown too—overcooked and so sticky it wouldn’t even mix. After that, we waited ages for the bill, eventually calling someone over just to pay. I’m genuinely unsure if the servers were undertrained or if this is just how things run here, but the food and service left a lot to be desired. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but I feel there’s room for serious improvement. Unfortunately, it’s a one-and-done visit for me.
Went on soft opening day 1. food tasted good, service was a bit slow (kinda expected on day 1). Hard to find parking. Sadly, my wife and I both had diarrhea overnight, maybe from the raw egg yoke? Might be awhile before we go back again :(
Been here twice and while the service still has some improvement to be done (long wait times) I find this to be a recommendable ramen resto in Surrey with affordable prices. Katsu is consistent, good proportion and excellent crisp. I did wish there was Katsu sauce to accompany it. I found that sharing mazesoba with ramen (not eating it together but bouncing off from each dish) is a perfect balance, going from a vinegar-based flavour to a savoury rich broth. Also - it is free to upsize so, why not. Not pictured here but their Tokyo Milk Tea was incredible. Please order it to complete your experience!
I recently checked out this location, the new spot specializing in Mazesoba Japanese noodles in Surrey. The restaurant is fresh and clean, with modern furniture that really makes it feel inviting. One thing I loved was the tablet at each table. They make ordering super easy and let you take your time browsing the menu, which is a nice touch. The service was pretty solid, too—everyone was friendly and attentive. Now, the food is still finding its footing. The Mazesoba noodles were decent, but I can see the potential for them to really shine. Overall, I think it is definitely worth a visit. With its cool atmosphere and a unique way to order, I have a feeling this place is going to become a local favorite. I can’t wait to go back and see how they evolve!
This was my third time dining here in the past month. The first time was great. The atmosphere was amazing, good service, tasty hot food, and easy to order right at the table on the tablet provided. The last couple times my experience has not been as great. Both times the wait for the food was much longer than it shouldve been. The tonkatsu I had ordered with my ramen was cold. Not warm, but cold. The ramen I had while it tasted alright, the noodles were all tangled up, and the ramen itself was not very hot. I had also ordered pan fried gyoza, and by the time it got to the table, it was cold. Ive never been to a ramen place and had food that had arrived cold, or even luke warm, so I was pretty disappointed. Im hoping the next time I visit that I will have a better experience, if not, I probably wont be back.
The experience was overall negative as ordering was done through a tablet at the table, and the kitchen was completely closed. It did not feel like a typical ramen restaurant where the staff engage and interact with you, and where the kitchen is visible and you can see the food being prepared. The entire experience felt mechanical, cold, and detached. Unfortunately I will not visit again as there are other ramen restaurants with better atmosphere and experience. Vegetarian options: There are only two vegan friendly ramen options.
I ordered the Chicken Karaage rice bowl which is my go to, from the other locations. But this one fell short. Theres something different about it, like it was dry. And the marinated egg felt like it wasnt marinated enough. I feel the prep work could be done better. It wasnt as flavourful as the other locations Ive been to. I feel like the Rice is also different. Service wise it was okay. The server was slow and I can tell shes new and shes by herself but I think they should have 2 servers during dinner time.
So great!
Surrey has gradually entered some Asian restaurants. This is the first time I tried this ramen shop. The taste is okay. The fried ribs are hard to describe. The ribs feel like they are made from minced meat. Well, this restaurant is special... The price is generally not very expensive
Food is good esp hot ramen on a cold day/night.
First time customer here last night and let me tell you, the food and service was amazing. Shoutout to the server that helped us. He was patient and understanding with our request and took time to answer questions we have about the food. I was recommended Mala ramen as I really like very spicy food, but for some reason, the soup tasted quite bland and oily. Maybe Ill try the second recommendation, which is Tamago, next time. Otherwise i love this new place
we ordered a takeout and everything was so dry. the mazesoba was dry, the takoyaki and karaage was dry and tough on the outside (not crispy, just tough and hard to bite), even the rice was dry. was so excited cause everything looked tasty, but oh well it s very disappointing. we ve never had such problems in another branch before. please do better.
Good food + friendly servers = Best place
I came in and waited at the entrance for 10 minutes to be seated. 3 different servers walked pass me without greeting. I finally asked one server if I can have a sit anywhere. He then instructed me to keep waiting even the restaurant was half empty. Yes, it wasn t even busy. I left.
Excellent experience. Food, service and atmosphere is awesome. Prices very reasonable. Parking easy to find on nearby side streets. Will visit again.
Don t go. So disappointed! Recommend to go to Kokoro at other locations. I am a fan of Kokoro went to many locations including Downtown, Kitsilano, Metrotown and Lougheed. This Surrey location definitely has different quality of food, lower grade or the chef doesn t cook with the same ingredients(?). I went to many locations and those other locations mentioned above are very delicious and have the same quality/taste.
They say they are open until 10 but they actually close the kitchen at 930. They should change their closing hours to say 930pm. I came here one time at 9:33 pm and they turned me away saying kitchen is closed. So its useless to say they are open until 10 when they can only serve you 30 mins before that. Besides, their ramen is just meh. Decent for Surrey standards. But nothing spectacular. If you can choose to go to other Authentic Ramen shops in DT, you should go for that.
The place has a-lot of potential but the food was ok. We ordered curry bowl - it is on a saltier side, value platter -chips and fries are very salty, had it redone but it took literally 1hr and 45mins, not sure why. Tamago ramen was very good. We also ordered tiramisu which took also 45mins even if we followed up. There was no compensation offered whatsoever and still billed in full. The server was nice though and sincere. I hope they will improve but I definitely won t take my family here again.
Been 3 times. They have Coke Zero on the list however never available. Needs to be addressed. Also need to check up more. Everytime I want to pay my bill I have to make myself seen and wave someone down. The ladies are doing their best but check up on your customers. Otherwise they are friendly and greet you well. Only giving 3 stars because of those two things
Its like fine , like any other Kokoro location except my noodles were a little bit undercooked and hard to eat. The upside of coming to this location is that the inside is really nice , they got ordering tablets , curtains and like 2 chandeliers. Staff and service are great
Food is fine, took over 30 minutes to deliver a basic ramen that typically takes 5 minutes to assemble
I recently visited the new Tokyo Kokoro Mazesoba location in Surrey, and I was really impressed! Even though the staff are still in training, they were very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the food is fantastic. The mazesoba was packed with flavor, with just the right amount of spice, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The portions were generous, and I loved the variety of toppings you could mix in. I can t wait to come back as the team settles in even more!
Delicious food and the staff is very friendly :). Totally recommended.
Very good
Great to have access to Ramen and Mazesoba close to Surrey Central. Definitely the best in the nearby area
Excellent food and service!
Food is awesome, friendly staff and the space is real nice!
The Mazisoba I had here was delicious! Easily some of the best Ive ever tasted!
FLY IN MY TOKYO MILK TEA!!!!!! Lost my appetite when I noticed (second sip) the extra toppings in my milk tea floating with the ice. Did not get a chance to take a picture of it- I just immediately crashed TF out and told the server. Thank you for the new cup of milk tho. Hopefully the owners and managers read this and make sure they do a proper quality assurance OF EVERYTHING moving forward. Could not finish my bowl and didnt touch my bao bun and new drink after I noticed the fly :( the server NELSON knows the truth. Btw Im a big fan of the kokoro restaurants. Sad to have a terrible first impression of this NEW restaurant to celebrate my moms birthday also. :(( Owners pls email me so i can send you the video of what was in my second cup of milk tea. Ty
Food is decent, but absolutely not worth the waiting times. Went in with a reservation for 2 people at 9pm and ordered Ramen, was told at 9:30pm that they had run out of Ramen noodles and that we needed to change our order. We decided to just have our dinner for to go, and only received our orders at 10pm. An hour just to have food to eat at home. I feel bad for the servers because it seems like they re overworked, usually with 2-3 people to manage the whole place (even with the tablets, it s clearly not enough). The restaurant has only opened recently, so it s understandable that they re going through some adjustments, but management just seems lackluster.
The food was delicious. We had the Niku Mazesoba. A very nice discovery. The service provided by the people was nice and JP was a great host to welcome us and to explain us the menu. Well come again ! Food : 5/5
I came for dinner on October 27 around 8 PM, and it was really busy. I ordered the original and deluxe ramen, but it took almost an hour to get our food. It was a bit frustrating, especially since people who came in after us got their food and finished before we even got ours. I felt bad for the servers there were only 2-3 of them, and they were rushing to help everyone. The host did an amazing job staying calm and professional, even with all the chaos. He was all around and that must be a lot for him yet he managed it so well. It seems like they don t have enough staff, and the servers looked overworked. I can only imagine how tough it was in the kitchen. Many customers were unhappy with the long wait times for their orders, and I think management should consider ways to speed up food preparation. Reducing the wait could really improve the experience for everyone.
I recently visited Kokoro Japanese Ramen House in Surrey, and it was a fantastic experience! The ambiance was warm and inviting, perfect for enjoying a cozy bowl of ramen. The staff was welcoming and attentive, ensuring we felt taken care of from start to finish. The ramen itself was outstanding. I tried their signature tonkotsu ramen, and the broth was rich, flavorful, and full of depth. The noodles had the perfect chew, and the toppings, especially the tender chashu pork, were fresh and added great texture and flavor to the dish. They also offer a variety of ramen options, so there s something for every palate. I highly recommend Kokoro Japanese Ramen House to any ramen lovers in Surrey. Whether you re a fan of classic flavors or looking to try something new, this place is worth a visit!
I went there because it was near Surrey Central Station and it was delicious. In particular, one of the servers named Kean was very friendly and responsive!
I was here yesterday with my friends, and we had a really good time! I think our server was someone name Kian, he was really nice and friendly, he would come to our table to check if we were doing alright. Will definitely comeback soon!
I ve been eagerly waiting for this location to open, and it did not disappoint! The food is excellent, the service is exceptional, and the environment is spotless. Highly recommend Kokoro for an outstanding dining experience!
Called asking where to park as the lot right next to the restaurant said Residential Parking Only . The girl that answered the phone was not helpful at all, I asked her which street is the parking accessible from and she just said right there .. Right there WHERE? We went around the block 3 times and called again to ask for help, and she gave us the same dumb answer. We ended up going to a different Ramen restaurant, needless to say, we won t attempt to go back to this restaurant again.
Went there during their BOGO 50% off promo. Portion was noticeably smaller than the other locations. The service is not up to the usual standard too. The server basically keep the customers waiting outside in the rain and cold while there were a lot of empty tables in the restaurant. Maybe they should consider getting everyone seated first before chatting with other customers.
Very small but cozy environment! The staff were friendly and the food was amazing. Granted the wait time wasn t that long since it was grand opening day! I the deluxe mazesoba, definitely would recommend!
food is really bad. curry was so salty and karaage was too hard couldnt bite lol
No Parking, No waiting area, you have to wait outside in the rain and cold.
Nice atmosphere and nice service :)
The mazesoba is good. The sides are not that good. It seems crazy to me that they have this BOGO promo, which obviously brings in tons of customers, when they ve just opened and the staff still aren t fully accustomed to their tasks yet.. it s causing long wait times and slow service. It seems they don t have enough staff to deal with the chaos. Poor management
Not bad for Ramen. Just keep in mind that there is no parking in that area, unless you park under the City Hall in the other side of the building for $1.50 and hour, but you need to be going south on 104 avenue. Dont be tempted to park in the Mayflower building because youll be towed away. Ive seen some people doing that.
Went here to eat on the second day of the opening. Although there was a long queue, the food was delicious, and the ramen and fried dumplings were both authentic. Kian, the front desk employee, was very attentive to us and had a great attitude and service. Will visit again later. recommend!
Servers were very friendly and I got good faster than expected, Mala ramen is a must!
Great new addition to the evolving Surrey DT core food scene. Check them out for some delicious authentic Japanese dishes!
Nice atmosphere great to have this new restaurant in this area. It was busy during dinner time but all of staffs were nice and kind. Highly recommend Meat Lover Mazesoba. So flavorful! Vegetarian options: My wife is Vegetarian she loved Veggie Bliss!
My god, steer clear. - Used the waitlist tablet to sign up for a table only to be told (after waiting) that it didnt do anything and that I shouldve just waited for the hostess. - Shown to a table with no tablet so I couldnt order anything. Attempts to get some help yielded nothing despite how empty it is in here (there are a grand total of 11 other patrons between 5 tables with 2 waitresses to cover). - Dirty dishes, a floor covered in meat, and messy tables (this photo is from 5pm so... Leftovers from lunch?) - A 13 minute difference between when I got my food and when my dining companion did. - Nobody checked in on us, which is fine during a mad dash dinner rush but this place is (understandably) empty. To be fair, the food was decent but Id steer clear until they figure themselves out. Its almost like someone had this idea of what a great restaurant would be like on paper (chandeliers! Fountains! Tablets for ordering and queueing!), but had no idea how to execute on actually running the day to day. Maybe swap the pretentious curtains and four chandeliers for additional staff? Parking: Park a few blocks away and hoof it.
Love this place. Great for elder people and family group. I love the soup ramen the most
Best ramen in town
I had the pleasure of dining at the restaurant today. I went there with my mom and toddler. The staffs warmly welcomed and were attentive, making sure we had everything we needed through the meal. I ordered veggie option and my mom ordered deluxe mazesoba. I highly recommned following a guide on how to eat delicioously! We liked both meals. Were planning to visit this restuarant again!
Food was amazing
Nice place, good food (nothing extraordinary), regular portions, good service, parking hard to find, expensive.
Definitely lived up to the hype, had the Szechuan mala ramen, very flavourful and yummy
This place is so bad. I called so many times on different days because I live very close and they never pick up the phone even when its not busy. They have really bad customer service and the food is overly salty. There is a better ramen shop near by. Will never eat here again.
Despite of telling server and conceirge so many times that my friend has an egg allergy they ignored it still gave my friend the minced meat with egg. And we saw the server laughing and they just remove the egg, so we asked the server to remade the whole bowl.. Its just so disappointing that the food is good but the service is garbage.
As a person with severe allergies, I wouldn t recommend this place. We told the workers two times, (first on the phone then in person), that I have life-threatening allergies and that we would like to have the egg removed from the dish. But I guess there wasn t any communication between the workers and they didn t remove it. It wasn t even that busy when we ordered. The employees were perfectly capable of handling this situation better. It s also very frustrating that the worker who was serving it only took it off the top and served it again, even with the knowledge that there is cross-contamination. Very disappointing service, I hope that they train their employees better.
Delicious food and friendly staff. Food came out quick. I cant wait to come back!
I love all the menu of Kokoro, serving well
I think the staff needs more training.
I went with my family to this new place near from home (just one block walk) cuz I been a lot of times in granville street location... so I know mazesoba... but here... the waiters just come to see us at the beggining and just when I order the food just for that... no attetion at all... and was not rlly busy time or hour... the food... its not like the same flavour and the portion different in granville location thats.. Ok.. but the costumer service here... was rlly bad.. they never approach to us for see if we need something or everything was ok?.. or if we want some free rice... I know u hav the screen to put it if u want.. but in other location the waiters they are rlly kind and want to take care of u... but not here... I waiting 10 min. For the free rice... and then 10 or 15 more to pay my bill... so.... its one block to my home... but I prefer travel 45 min. More to get a rlly good service and good attention like i felt in home in the granville mazesoba location... and never back to this place close to my home
The food was nice and the service was exceptional
I have tried the Kokoro in Lougheed, Brentwood, and Metrotown. This Kokoro is newly opened. The service is good, nice, but a bit slow maybe because this place is new. The food is very good. The most famous food here is the Mazesoba, but I love the Chashu Ramen with extra soft boiled eggs. If you want to order Maze, I recommend the Deluxe Maze. Definitely gonna come again. Parking is in the back of the building, mifht be hard to find. Vegetarian options: There are Vegan Maze and Ramen.
The staff was beautiful and friendly! The food was delicious. I will definitely visit again!!
came here because it opened up recently in our area, but it was a really bad experience. the servers were just talking amongst each other, didnt even tell us we should order through the tablets. it was peak dinner rush, but they really dont know how to handle it, and overall seemed inexperienced. sit down for 10 mins no water. when i finally got the attention of someone, they didnt really know how to answer the questions i had about any of the dishes. i dont know how they are getting some 5 star reviews i really think they have paid people for good reviews because it was a horrible time for me and my husband. food itself was just overly salty and my noodles were sticking together. i know they just opened so they have a lot to improve on but, as a chain restaurant this is not up to par with other locations. there were also a lot of dirty tables which were not being cleaned so other people were not getting seated. just a mess. take your money elsewhere. also take note... parking options are limited.
I like their foods! I ordered Mala ramen, that is so great for me. I could also choose the spicy level.
chicken karaage (9.49) / takoyaki (8.25) / tonkatsu (7.95) / deluxe mazesoba (19.65) / chashu ramen (17.95)
The portion was usually small even when you order the XL. They shouldnt call it XL actually. Its embarrassing. Service was pretty much non existent. They forgot to give you water sometimes, yet the lowest tips selection was 15% I think 12/15/18 would be more fair to their customers. I really dont know what service they offer to deserve a lowest tips of 15%. However, I forgot to mention, the last time I went there during their promotion period, one of the waitress was good though. She is a Japanese girl, and not the manager. She did provide us pretty good service and deserved a good tips.
very bad attention from the waitress, I ordered my dinner and a few minutes later she told me that she wouldnt take it because of the schedule, In the end he served it to me and after a few minutes he insisted that I leave the place due to the schedule, very bad service
I ve been here two times already! I love the ramen and the broth is so nice. It took a little while for the food to come though.
If you re looking for ramen, this isn t the place for you. Even the server mentioned that ramen isn t their specialty, despite what the name might suggest. The experience fell far short of expectations. I wouldn t return and definitely wouldn t recommend it to anyone. The overall quality was very underwhelming no chicken options, and the ramen was extremely bland. The flavor didn t live up to the ambiance. Vegetarian options: Just one vegetarian ramen option
Went here for the first time for dinner. It s new to my taste and I m in love with it. Ordered Tamago ramen as recommended by the server is absolutely amazing. Great service I m coming back! Comments about Food being bland is so funny. Don t generalize all their menu if one order didn t meet your taste. Don t deserved such hate Highly recommended place especially during these cold seasons!
No parking at all
First of all the restaurant is super clean and the food is 10 out of 10 best ramen in Vancouver once you come here then this place will be your spot when you crave ramen.
Ordered Tamago ramen and milk tea and it was the best! Also great customer service especially Kian who s very friendly and professional!
Cool spot, great food. Walking distance from Surrey Central Skytrain.
Food was highly disappointed. Chicken karrage is supposed to be crispy outside and moist inside. It was dried inside out here. Mentaiko mazesobas noodle was uncooked and tasted like rubber. Were not coming back
Food was decent but service was very poor
No parking, we see empty tables but was seated 30mins after. Another 45mins wait for our qty 2 ramen. Servers are just standing as the kitchen cannot cope with the evening rush. Terrible wait time.
Ramen was the only thing that was decent. Took close to an hour to get food upon ordering initially. Ebi Mayo and Katsu curry both came out cold and extra chewy, service was non-existent. Was excited for this new joint to be opening up in the area but was left very disappointed.
Got our first take-out order. Meat covered gyoza , karaage bao bun , katsu curry bowl and chashu ramen. It was all wonderful. The katsu was crispy and the curry bowl was very flavourful. The bao bun sauce was great. The meat topping for the gyoza was spicy and well balanced. We ordered medium heat and it was perfect. Service was excellent and we are thrilled about this addition to the neighborhood
Tried for the first time, cautiously optimistic as it was there first week, but was very pleased with the food. The Charsu on the ramen was perfect and the broth and noodles were delicious, but the winner was the karaage bao bun! Will definitely be back, happy to have this gem in walking distance.
The place looks nicely decorated and the service was great, but honestly the food was just good. Nothing actually extraordinary, recommended for a dinner out if you live nearby.
Mazesoba is wonderful here. I have enjoyed atmosphere with wonderful service
Atmosphere is nice. Food was good and fresh! Finally close one is open! I will be back for sure vegetarian option also good! Vegetarian options: Veggie bliss was so good!
Newly opened, well-decorated restaurant. Their service is excellent. Food is decent, their gyoza and curry mazesoba are must orders. Parking can be hideous but its in the back of the building
It was a good experience!
- amazing food - service was very helpful - takeout containers are very neat & environmentally friendly Food : 5/5
I luv it
Malay maze soba is amazing!!!!! I love it. Food
Good service and good food. Definitely will visit the restaurant again!
Ordered curry katsu mazesoba and iced match latte. Katsu was soo crispy! Location was convenient to visit with transit.
Finally!! They opened! Food is good, nice service, and clean :)
Big portions and service was fast! Always good! Probably the kokoro with the best atmos. Dont know how these entitled people complain
The food is great, service is friendly and the place is clean and has a great vibe.
Food took a while but understandable as they just opened. Delicious food and a pleasant ambience. Nice to have a restaurant like this locally. Ill be back !
The Meat Lover with half-boiled egg is SO TASTY!!!!!
Food was good as always. I liked that they have tablets to order food now. There s an underground parking across the street just fyi.
Really enjoyed the meal, we had the tamago ramen and shio mazesoba, highly recommend in this area, restaurant is comfortable to chill after all-day of work!
Best food in Surrey!! Friendly staffs , comfy seating and good vibe. Most authentic Japanese food I had. Highly recommend!
