The bun bo hue is not really spicy or tangy but still tastes good, salad rolls and peanut sauce is pretty good too.
today we just came here for the first time. i was very impressive by their friendly attitude, the food was so good, especially the Bun Bo Hue hits different from other resto ive tried before. definitely come back for sure!
Hidden gym in an unsuspecting part of town. The pho dac biet is delicious and comparable to other places like pho tam and pho777 but their bun bo hue is actually on another level and sets them apart from the other. Haven't tried their combination platters yet but will be back to!
Bad service, no honesty. We ordered 5 beef dishes but asked them to switch to 3 dishes. They refused and said kitchen already prepared the order. We were ok. Then they served only 4 dishes and didn’t let us know that 1 dish is not available until we asked them. They said they gave us more food on other dishes but my girlfriend who just came there a week ago said that the proportion is the same, they didn’t add any extra. Not coming back there again for sure. But the food was not too bad. That’s why I gave 2 stars.
Amazing hole in the wall Viet Restaurant! The Bon bo Hue here is excellent with generous portions of protein. The large sizes here are huge and priced well! The interior is clean, brightly lit and spacious. There's also plenty of free parking. The customer service here is also amazing! Will definitely come back here to try the house special next time! 🙂
The food was so so. We ordered pork Chop Rice and Bun Bo Hue spicy Hue Noodle. The pork Chop was not grilled but pan fried , the bbh is a bit oily
Review from Canadian-born Asian Guy eating his way through the Vietnamese restaurants in the Lower Mainland. I eat a lot of Bun Bo Hue. It’s my go-to order at most restaurants that offer it. I’ve heard that Huong Viet does a pretty mean bowl so I was excited to try it. I’m going straight to the point and saying that this is one of the better bowls that I’ve had in awhile and will place it in my top 3. The combination of the flavourful broth, the ingredients included and the wallet friendly price makes this a winner. Expect to see cuts of brisket, Vietnamese ham, pork ball, pork hock and a cube of pork blood. If you don’t like the latter you can ask them to exclude the blood from your order. I apologize I didn’t take a picture because I was too busy devouring it. I will update with a picture the next time I come back. **Note: they are closed till late this month as they’re on vacation. Better to call first before visiting to make sure they’re back.
I ordered the lemongrass chicken with spring roll and husband ordered the 3 meats on rice. It was 8pm when we came so there was no other customer in the restaurant. The food was flavourful and the spring rolls were really delicious. I’m docking one star off because this is probably the only Vietnamese restaurant I’ve been to in a really long time that served the lemongrass chicken bone in. It also wasn’t fully cut so it was very difficult eating the chicken attached to all its other adjacent parts. Also the bone fragments, blood and the marrow were falling into the vermicelli making it extremely frustrating to eat. I managed to eat the meal but with the need to constantly spit out hard fragments and congealed chicken blood. Also, it was over cooked. I will come back again to try other things but I’m sadly disappointed with the chicken which is usually my go to. Pro - no taxes and no cost for take out containers.
pho chin nam gan / lemon bo tai
Every time I come to Vancouver we stop by this place. Great food. Come and meet very nice people. I like their soups and they are vietnae coffee. Please stop by. The restaurant is small and cozy, crowded with Vietnamese and Asian people. Fast service, diverse dishes. Delicious. A bit noisy because Vietnamese guests are talking loudly
I like the Bun Bo Hue here :-)
Staff is very welcoming and the food portions are beyond generous. Local and authentic Vietnamese food that never fails to impress
10/10. No notes.
Good bun bo and pho. Service was slow but they are really friendly!
Amazing and good
Hands down best Bun Bo hue in Guildford. The variety of protein they include like the pork blood and hock is unmatched. Love that they renovated so the atmosphere is upgraded. Highly recommend
For me, a Saigonese, this place has the best Vietnamese foods in the city
The best beef wrapped in leaves (thit bo la lot) that Ive tried so far and Ive been to many Vietnamese restaurants. Their bun bo hue is good here too. Service is just like any average Vietnamese restaurant. Service has always been fast every time we go. I also like to order party size of the beef wrapped in leaves uncooked or pay a little bit more for cooked for home BBQ s
Went here tons of time with my partner. The Bún Bò Hu is out of this world. I am a Vietnamese myself, I grew up there for 15 years of my life. There is just something about Canadian Vietnamese food that I feel lacking of aromas and authentic to me. Though, I am impressed by their BBH. I always go there for it. My partner also said their lemongrass chicken rice is good. I met 3 different staff on different occasions and they were kind and nice to me. Made me feel welcomed. The food is also affordable and the amount they are giving is worth the price. We are always extremely full after eating one dish. 10/10 would come back.
Huong Viet Dat Special Bun Bo Hue (15) / Pho Chin Nam Gan (15) / Bo Tai Lemon (25)
Good food
The best bun bo of the town. Strong of lemongrass flavors compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. Must try.
Drove by because of heavy traffic congestion due to road construction. Was very pleasantly surprised that this hole in the wall has really good food. Again, if you are in the area this is another must try.
This is the best Vietnamese food I ve had in Canada. The three types of grilled beef rolls is very tasty and the Bun Bo Hue is to die for. If you are in the area, it is a most stop.
The food was good, well-priced and came in big portions. Staff were nice enough to turn down the A/C at our request.
Great restaurant we loved it
The food is disgusting and dirty.
Bun Bo Hue is a must-try dish when you come here !!
As the one who is addicted to bun bo Hue in Vietnam. After trying some restaurants in Van, Surrey and Langley, this place gives me the most likely taste of it that I have to visit back everyweek.
Amazing Vietnamese food! USED TO BE CALLED SONG HUONG BUT ITS NAME CHANGED! Still the same owner and food!! It s the best in the lower mainland. Food tastes very authentic. I highly recommend coming here if you are looking for authentic Vietnamese food for an affordable price. They also have very cute decor inside. I love coming here for their famous Bún bò Hu and Bò 5 Món. Their spring rolls is also a must!
Go in tell them we have 6 ppls the waitress told us they dont have table. And I see there are 2 empty table with 4 seat and other opening as well. So we took off. 200% wont ever go to this restaurant again. They dont like new customers. Good luck if you go there. If Google wont let me give no star, I will if I can.
Seem like they dont like new customers, for sure wont go again.
Bad service. The owner i think she doesnt welcome new customers. Never come back again. Very upset
Bad service. Dont come here. U will have bad days after u visit thats place. The owner so bad she doesnt welcome customers
This is the most authentic vietnamese restaurant in BC. Ive been to vietnam 3 times. They taste just like the motherland.!^_^ thank you
This was my favourite place for Bun Bo Hue (BBH) whenever Im in Surrey. But recently, I had ordered 2 x BBH for takeout, and when I got home, they had given me pho noodles for both orders. BBH is just not the same with pho noodles. Unfortunately, it was just not worth the effort/time/gas to drive all the way back (wouldve been 30 mins round trip for me) to get the correct noodles. Was not impressed.
Really flavorful soups and noodle dishes at a reasonable price.
I keep coming back here because it is the only place in the Lower Mainland that I can get the unique Bun Bo Hue (item #1 on their menu) taste from central Vietnam. Today I tried their Bun Cha Ca (item #19) and I was even more impressed. The issue with authentic Vietnamese food is not that its not modified to fit the western taste. Its the very specific ingredients that are common in Vietnam, but doesnt really exist in America. Most other restaurants skip these ingredients resulting in ok-food, but Huong Viet knows their stuff. If you miss food from back home like I do, give it a try.
So good the number 1!!
Hardcore pho lover here. This place is a deep hidden gem in Surrey. No fancy decor and lots of people. Authentic viet food only
Authentic Vietnamese food from the Middle ( Hue city which is famous about their delicate cooking ). We love bun bo Hue and bo nhung dam( beef vinegar pot ). Their pho is good also.
hidden gem for Vietnamese food Id recommend the beef 3 or 5 ways and the bun bo hue
Excellent
The best Vietnamese restaurant in Surrey for 3 style BBQ beef and Hue style noodles. Really enjoy the foods here, this restaurant really bring the authentic taste of Vietnamese foods. Definitely a gem in town
Song Huong Surrey just changed it s name into HUONG VIET RESTAURANT. JUST THE NAME CHANGED, FOOD AND OWNER IS STILL THE SAME. I JUST CAME TO ORDER TODAY, IT TASTES AMAZING AS ALWAYS. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
my go to place for bun bo hue! delicious and the amount of toppings and noodles is perfect! in terms of pho, its good if you prefer the sweeter side of the broth.
I love that they have the pork and shrimp tapioca dumplings. A place I used to go to stopped selling them so I was glad to find them here. The three types of beef rolls were also very good. Service was super friendly.
Came here the other day because I have tried all the other Vietnamese places close by. Despite only having a few reviews they deserve much more. Tasty beef pho and the ladies serving were friendly. Ill be back again!
I came here by friend recommend and absolutely not disappointed with my decision with 30 driving. Hard to say the taste wasn t best but 90% Bun Bo taste from Saigon where i often eat this. I will come back again if have chance. Keep in touch.
Bun bo hue is the best
Love their bun cha ca!
tasty.
Very yummy
Bun Bo hue is good but imo not spicy enough and this is coming from a person that can barely handle their spice. If your looking for great service and great ambience...... its a Vietnamese restaurant, u go there for the food.
Love their beef wrap, always order that and share with friends
The bun Bo hue is top tier
The bun bo hue is best in YVR area!
Best!!!! Bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup) good service ,good food, gem in hiding
Delicious and perfectly cooked rice and meat
Hidden Gem
Service is slow and subpar and the pho was okay. Definitely not the best Ive had but its decent.
Best soup house in Surrey.. service is not great but food is great!
Amazing amazing pho just delicious and tasty broth with tons of ingredients and plenty of flavour.
great authentic Vietnamese cuisine but dont come here expecting a good service. You only come here for their tasty dishes . Try their bun bo hue, the best in Vancouver
Foods ok if you can deal with the owners and workers in the kitchen talking smack on everyone eating there. They constantly get their orders wrong. Bring a winter coat during fall /winter cause there is no heat. Seen rats running around
The food is delicious, the ingredients are rich and delicious
Been coming for years..been very happy
The wrap is very good.
Ok
The noodle shop are good. Service is great.
Very good meals
Bun Bo hue was good!
We have been there several times and always been happy with the quality of the food for a reasonable price with decent service.
,Very good
This place is lit by
Walking in the door sent me to Sái Gón. The smell of the food permeating the restaurant. Service is polite, professional and slow. The food is average Vietnamese food, but quite acceptable for the location. I would come back.
Average pho. Too much noodle to broth (may be good for some people). Decent broth, I go here only when I am starving. Otherwise its always Pho Tau Bay for me.
Good food and good price. Love their bun Bo hue noodle soup
Good, best service
Had banh bot loc and bun bo hue from here. Both were quite tasty. Id have to say, so far, this place has the best bun bo hue!
Love the food better then any other vietnamese place we know
Always great pho, warm and friendly service.
Warning, this is not fast food like most Vietnamese restaurants! However, best Bun Bo Hue soup in Surrey at this location. Bun Bo Hue = Spicy Pho Type soup served with bean sprouts and red cabbage. Their regular Pho is just average here. However if you have a larger party, try 5 kinds of beef. Its an amazing experience for your taste buds. It also comes with a numerous amount of veggies, so this might be a healthy option. Sadly, if you come here close to 10am expect to wait at least 30-45 minutes for your soup. They claim to open at 10 but dont actually start heating up the soup until 10 so disappointing wait times here. 5 stars for the food quality but 1 for service!
We really enjoy the Bun Bo Hue here!
good foods. great service.
We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and had to wait about 15 minutes just for a table, 5 more for someone to come and take our order. My friend who knows the owner said it s probably because there s no one help out in the kitchen. We both had the bun bo hue which was great, I haven t had bun bo hue that good for months. The atmosphere was alright.
Best place for specialty noodles: Bun Bo Hue !
got food poisoning twice I went there. So disapointed.
