80 Campbell St, Surry Hills NSW 2010, Australia
Rating based on all the amazing recommendations I’ve gotten for this place but how I thought it was a pretty average spot. I would say 3.5/5. The vibes were good and staff excellent! The food could be found elsewhere. I did very much enjoy the focaccia bread and butter though!
Didn’t live up to the hype. This is the type of restaurant where the quality of ingredients & simplicity should shine but honestly it didn’t. Key lowlights were the Crudo (salmon was extremely fishy), Spaghetti Gamberi (tasted & texture was like a Chinese veggie noodle dish). Everything else tasted fine but nothing to write home about. Service was good & bubbly, but point off for olive oil off a dish being spilt onto the table by the server.
The table is too cramped and food is average. However the service was really good so I’ll give 5 stars for services. It will be a nice to go to when you’re in the area but not worth a booking.
It was our first time there, we were so excited to finally try it. And we weren’t disappointed at all ! The staff is so friendly, and the food is amazing. From the starter to the desert there’s no part we didn’t enjoy. It worth the price and the wait. Highly recommended !
Pellegrino 2000 is perfect for catching up with friends or a cozy date night! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with delicious drinks, a thoughtful wine selection, and food that’s just beautifully prepared. Our experience was made even better by the fantastic service from Olivia — so attentive and welcoming. Definitely a spot to keep coming back to!

A small and cozy Italian restaurant located in Surry Hills. Despite not having made a reservation, we had to wait for a good half hour, even though it was a Monday. But it was definitely worth it in the end. (We recommend making a reservation.) As we come from Italy and are familiar with these dishes, we found the food to be excellent. The artichokes were of high quality, the eggplant Parmesan was superb (even better than my mom's), and the Milanese-style pork is definitely worth trying. The tiramisu was generous and one of the best we've had in Sydney. Everything was accompanied by a bottle of excellent Italian wine. The tables are small, and the prices are on the higher side, but this is justified by the choice and quality of the products. The waiter was very helpful in recommending wines. To reach five stars, I would have preferred if the restaurant door had been closed and the fan turned off. Despite this, we recommend it 100%. ---
Great place for friends to catch up or a date night. The ambience was great, and the service was fantastic. The people working their seemed to be very happy, joking with each other and always have a smile on their faces. It gives the place a happy and relaxed vibe. We all enjoyed the focaccia, the crudo, and the prawn ravioli. The artichokes were a bit too salty, and the lamb was good but a bit dry. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. Oh yes, the cocktails were great.
Every bite was delicious! We looked at what we had each ordered, and decided not to share mine was so yummy! Service was attentive. Its a little bit noisy, but we talked a lot, so guilty of adding to it. We had a lovely evening with family. Food
Special night ruined :( we were having a lovely evening but had ordered the eggplant parmigiana This turned up completely blackened, smelling burnt and categorically inedible. I m really not one to complain but this was very much black and burnt to a crisp. I was then told that this is how it is served, and that it was just caramelised. This was quite bizarre. I just don t really think the message got through it wasn t a matter of debate, they d just left it in the oven too long. If they d admitted it and tried again, fair play but we were told that it was just a matter of interpretation and that we were wrong. The vibe was cool but very strange to be gas lit by the manager. It was a shame as it ruined a special night. Sadly I don t think we will come back, despite the hype.

Excellent service, atmosphere and food, as per usual. So happy this little trattoria remains a Surry Hills treasure. Always coming back. Xx
This is a cute little hidden gem in Surry Hills! Ive been twice and enjoy the food, wine and atmosphere great for a date, or with friends. Theres also tablea down in the basement thats charming and cool too. Enjoy! Ps. We ordered a number of dishes and wine but didnt take pics! Foccacia, crudo di mare, fritto misto, vongole spaghetti, bucatini, veal. Yum!

Great experience
Good food & great service!
Nice restaurant but disappointed to have come all the way for nothing. Arriving at 10:20 p.m. on a Saturday, the restaurant is supposed to close at midnight. There are 5 free tables outside, we are refused to eat for two because according to the waiter there is no room inside and outside it is not possible. No more explanation of why we cant eat outside. I ask if we can wait for a place to become available inside, I am told no because by then the kitchen will be closed I left frustrated with the impression of not having been considered. They turned away two other groups of two behind us as well, so at least we werent the problem. Maybe we should adjust the times if 1h40 before closing it is no longer possible to come and eat :/
Very good experience, Good vibe, amazing and welcoming service team with great recommendations on the food and wine. Delicious gluten free bread, mains and side dish were a little salty Highly recommend Food : 5/5
Might have been the best meal of my life. Top notch.
Had a fabulous evening. Set menu was amazing. Cant go past the dumplings.
The good - nice place to be, beautiful great staff - friendly, polite, efficient good negroni fun music, can be too loud depending on where you sit The bad - the food is simply not good enough. Its about as good as mediocre quality pub food. It really is not good. I cant stress this enough. The calamari was not crispy, barely had any flavour, the pellegrino sauce is basically big mac sauce. The spaghetti with mushrooms was awful. The crumbed fish was decent for pub standard. If I served this level of Italian food up at home I would be ashamed. Conclusion - I would go for drinks and tapas style starters. I would not recommend the bigger plates of food.
Didn t take any photos because I was too busy eating! But everything that came out was superb. Pasta was incredible, even the butter for the bread! Staff were wonderful too. Can t wait to go back.
The food was so beyond average. The service and vibes are amazing but the portions are really small for the price. Focaccia was burnt and crispy, I enjoy a more fluffy focaccia.
I was excited to visit Pellegrino 2000 during my first trip to Sydney, especially for a special dinner with my partner, but the experience was ultimately disappointing. While the prawn ravioli was delicious, the banquet meal was underwhelming. Shared plates for the entree and dessert only equated to one normal serving, which felt misleading for the price. The service was the biggest letdown. The waiter focused entirely on my partner, ignoring me for most of the evening. It even started to feel intentional when he repeatedly bumped into me without acknowledgment. Sadly, Pellegrino 2000 didn t live up to the hype for me and wound up being a lackluster experience.
The service was remarkable!
We loved this quaint, authentic Italian restaurant in Surrey Hills. Food is amazing, wine list impeccable and service was great. Highly recommend if youre in the area.
Easy 5-stars. The staff were fantastic all evening especially Dario who looked after us. Food was great, some of the best burrata we ve had and the pasta was perfect too. Overall great experience and prices were very good too.
Amazing food - particularly recommend the focaccia and crudo entrees and the tiramisu dessert.
Excellent friendly service, deliciously presented food that makes me want to come back to try even more on their menu. Highly recommend the prawn pastas and tiramisu
What a place. Picked it at random because I was staying nearby. I felt like pasta, so booked a seat for 1 at the bar. It was Saturday night and the place was rammed. Yet, the staff, couldnt have been any happier, friendlier, professional or polite. Food was pretty good. Nothing life changing but still delicious. The restaurant itself is super cool. Would come back purely because of the staff and the vibe. The good food was almost just a bonus.
Such a great experience! We ordered the focaccia and truffle butter, prosciutto e bufala, and the pappardelle al bolognese. Every dish was so delicious, but the highlight would actually be the focaccia and butter (I still think about it everyday). The best part about this place was the service, especially from Priscilla. Priscilla sat down with us and explained every single menu, helping us to choose the right dishes for our appetite level. She s very friendly and welcoming. I would say the service she has provided is the most memorable one out of all the nice restaurants I have been to.
Honestly, I followed Taylor Swift to this restaurant.
A funky place with great service. Focaccia with truffle butter and the burrata were excellent. Seafood spaghetti and bolognese were nice but not mind blowing. However the real star were the desserts. The tiramisu and banana creme caramel were out of this world amazing. Do not skip desserts if you go here. Thank you for a lovely birthday lunch :)
My husband and I had such a great time, the food was excellent, the service was wonderful. Everything was perfect, the environment was lovely too. We re definitely coming back.
What a beautiful restaurant. Incredible ambience, attentive, friendly staff and delicious fresh food that tasted like it was cooked by someone that cared. The eggplant part was a highlight! Loved it and cant wait to eat there again next time Im in Sydney.
The food is good but not amazing. We got to try 3 entrees, 3 mains and 2 desserts. Sitting on the high stools is a bit uncomfortable. Service is good and friendly
Just a phenomenal dining experience.
I picked this restaurant for a date. To say that the experience was perfect would be an understatement. The food, the atmosphere everything about a good evening was made better by my experience here Would recommend the celler, as a great location to take a date or someone VERY special in your life
Ok food but very expensive.
I think this place is overrated. The pasta was too salty, and the other dishes and starters were just average, nothing special. It was also my friend s birthday, and they charged us an extra $10 per person just to cut the cake! Honestly, just skip the cake, haha. While it s common for restaurants to have extra fees, $10 per person is outrageous. For a group of 10, that s $100!
Food is either too salty or way too sour. The bread is the best.
The food, the drinks, the service, the atmosphere are all INCREDIBLE. Definitely worth a visit if you re craving really good Italian!
Absolutely wonderful food and service. Will definitely be back
We had the focaccia, frito misto, eggplant parmigiana and snapper - all are delicious!
What a wonderful experience dining here was. The service and the food it was all just amazing. The music could be turned down a smidge but that was the only small negative. Would come back again and again. Thank you Team
Went here to catch up with girlfriends, food recommendations were great - would recommend the eggplant and banana caramel dessert. Service was amazing, and made the night even better, thank you Olivia for looking after us
Superb atmosphere in this small but cozy restaurant serving lovely Italian fare. Small menu but everything is fantastic on it.
Came here with my wifes family as a table of 4 with a pram. Definitely not the most roomy of restaurants if you have a pram/baby with you. But lets be honest with ourselves, you probably visit restaurants like this with your friends/colleagues or potential casual dates. The food to me was average compared to other similar type venues in Surry Hills but the service is top notch! My brother in law says there is a huge waiting list to eat the restaurant but honestly I feel its all hype and FOMO lol... Worth a visit to say you have dined here to feel relevant with your friend circle I guess. 4 people eating a casual lunch was $377 (3 drinks included), was it an experience worth $377? Nah~ their best dish was bread and truffle butter.
Great restaurant. Great food and service staff were very friendly. Great romantic night out.
I love the food, the service and the atmosphere.
Loved the place, the underground section is a very good date night vibe. Dominique our waiter took great care of us, helped us by explaining the menu with great customer service.
Atmosphere is A+ as is the service. The food was between average and excellent. Focaccia with truffle butter, Snow pea sprouts, crudo di mare and vitello tonnato were all excellent. Great wine list by the glass. The pasta was good not great and the pork schnitzel was average - overcooked and too dry / hard.
Hands down one of the kindest, and impeccable treatments we have ever had a restaurant. The service was what really made this night. They re incredibly attentive and friendly. The food is divine. the cocktails were next tier (the lemon sorbet one was unreal). We have eaten around the world and these guys really know their stuff. Don t skip on this one!
There are always reasons to not give a place 5 stars. I couldnt find any reasons not to give Pellegrino 2000 a fully solid review. Food was incredible, service was top notch, the vibe was also incredible! They played all sorts of italo-disco all evening which I loved, and accommodated some of the plates to me as a single dinner (offering a half portion at half cost) - I loved this because I came alone but still wanted to try a few items! Great drinks too. I sat at the bar, across from the food prep zone. The head chef took an interest in helping me pick items to try and I was able to talk food with her. I was mesmerised watching the kitchen and bar churn out well-made and creative italian fare. Next time I find myself across the Pacific in Sydney, Im certainly going back!
Awesome service, I loved the tiramisu (1 of the best I ve had, I could taste the coffee and alcohol so strongly), I loved the prawn pasta (forgot the name of it but the taste was so unique it reminded me a bit of Asian fusion food), I loved the truffle butter. Only bad thing is that the lighting is too dim for reading the menu ..
Sat at the outside bar for a quick meal under the brain fryer (super hot overhead IR heater). Staff were great. Pasta was fine but probably overpriced as was the surprise $20 glass of whatever it was that they suggested was a good alternative to a cider. So $77 for a bit of a watch your elbows spot at the bar, some bread, pasta and glass of wine. Today at lunch I had a magnificent genuine Italian pasta and soft drink in Alexandria for $14 all up. I get it, the city is expensive and yuppys need feeding lol
We wandered into Pellegrino on a Monday night, drawn in by the ambiance and busy tables and were lucky to be squeezed in after a 30 min wait. The food was absolutely divine (very high quality ingredients) with the tonno standing out in particular. Even the butter that came with the focaccia was incredible. The service was great, lovely wine recommendations. It happened to be a special occasion and we couldnt have picked a better spot! Will absolutely be going back.
What a cute and authentic Italian restaurant and Bar. Great place for catching up with friends !
Delicious food and service!
Definitely recommend this place for a romantic dinner. Very intimate environment, good music, professional staff. And obviously incredible food!
Thomas and Ed behind the bar kept us amused, informed and entertained, made us excellent cocktails with grace and panache and ensured we tried all the most delicious items on the menu. Made us feel valued, welcome and more fun than we probably really are. Will definitely be back!
Devine. Im not big on Italian in Australia but this was *chefs kiss*. Especially being gluten free - could not believe how accommodating, fresh and flavourful every bite was 10/10 recommend
Rock star waitress . Efficient and attentive service.Great drinks and food. Smooth and polished all the way through .It s good not to have to ask for the water to be topped up plates cleared and orders to be taken. Tiramisu very nice. Booking again. Parking: Street parking. Wheelchair accessibility: On entry level and outside good wheelchair access.
My all time favourite Sydney eatery. I come here on average bi monthly and have done since it opened. The service is exceptional, the food is exceptional and the atmosphere is uniquely special. All the food is beyond but the bread and butter is a non negotiable - it s too good. I also love the desserts, like I could go there just for a sweet stop on its own ! Thank you Pellegrino team, you re always always on point !
Vibes all round! Ate here recently downstairs in the cellar and my god was it a mood. A love a low lit space for dinner. The food exceeded my expectations and the crème caramel was amazing! The staff we had on our table made us laugh so much she was so lovely!
I will come back for the desserts. Food was great but the desserts delicious!
Very nice, intimate and welcoming place. Alessandro invites us and follows us carefully, giving us advice on the dishes proposed, with detail and passion. We eat very well, really well prepared focaccia and Italian pasta. After 3 weeks of abstinence from pasta, Pellegrino was a real refuge here in Sydney. Thanks to Alessandro for everything
About 3 different staff reminded us that we were the first sitting and had to be out in a short space of time felt hurried and that I could not relax to enjoy the meal. The food was tasty and expensive.
It was my first time at Pellegrino2000 and what an amazing experience. Incredible atmosphere down in the cantine and the level of food was top notch. I would rate that Carbonara with an A+.
One of the best Italians in Australia
Amazing food, great service. I can see why the waiting list is so long. Highly recommend. Food : 5/5
**Recommended Dishes:** - Focaccia with Truffle Butter - Tonno & Stracciatella - Twice Cooked Octopus - Pork alla Milanese Appetizers are so good, even worth trying than spaghetti. Focaccia and all the sides today are exceptional. Twice Cooked Octopus has a unique flavor with celery, preserved chili, potatoes, and olive oil. Each ingredient stands out with bread. Tuna is fresh and also worth ordering. Both pasta dish are quite dry , which is a contrast to the oilier style like Ragazzi. Pecorino Rigatoni is cooked al dente with a strong cheese flavor. Prawn Linguine has a texture of Chongqing noodles , cooked a firm with small shrimp pieces. Pork Cutlet is a crispy& big dish with thinly sliced pork. Unlike Japanese pork cutlets, this one seems to be marinated beforehand, imparting a unique flavor to the meat. The restaurant features typical Italian décor with dim lighting and a vibrant, exotic music, making it ideal for a romantic date. The service is also attentive and patient.
Enjoyed a lovely dinner. Fabulous food, delightful staff. Thank you. Food
Visited twice during our trip to Sydney last week, we enjoyed the prawn linguine and the focaccia bread with truffle butter (a must order for us). Very nice and cosy atmosphere. Would give the other mains a go if we dined in a larger group.
I went to lunch at Pellegrino 2000 with my dad who was visiting Sydney for the weekend (thanks for lunch dad). The carbonara was one of the best pasta dishes Ive eaten. With the knowledge dad was covering the bill, I took the staff recommendation to add freshly shaved truffle which took it to another level. The flavour and saltiness of the guanciale was intense but not overpowering - just like baby bears porridge it was just right. The sauce was so good that I had to order a serve of bread to wipe it all up. I worked so hard to get every last drop that they wouldnt have even needed to wash my bowl after. A must try for pasta lovers!
Celebrated a friends birthday in July. Love the moody interior down stairs. High quality service, phenomenal food (we got a set menu) and they make a perfect dirty martini. Parking: Surry hills can be difficult to find parking, to find parking close by the restaurant I recommend allowing some extra time.
Nice location and good service. We had the menu del giorno, apart for the focaccia we didn t like the rest, prawns ravioli was ok and so was the Milanese. Interesting dessert.
By far, the BEST pasta Ive ever eaten in my entire life. Highly recommend you enjoy the tastes and feels of this incredible space. If you can, try and secure a booking in the Cellar - well worth it!
Nice restaurant we really enjoyed our dinner
We had an excellent lunch at Pellegrino 2000. Reservation is highly recommended and was quite straight forward to book online. Every dish we had was delicious. Highly recommended!
Best gluten free pasta and bread I ve ever had
A warm and relaxed space with excellent food.
Impeccable service, the atmosphere is second to none and all the food we had was delicious! We will definitely be coming back on a regular basis!
Really enjoyed our meal here. Couldn t fault service or food really and the timing of courses was perfect. Knocked off half a star for the crème caramel which the big pile of cream just didn t add too much to the dish. Also knocked off another half star for the music which was a bit loud and annoying at times. Also the bathroom was crazy dark. Couldn t see anything in there! Otherwise a very good meal here.
My favorites were Tuna stracciatella, Veal Cutlet, Bolognese pasta and Banana Crème Caramel. Focaccia with truffle batter was also great! The atmosphere was very nice.I felt like I was in Italy Food
We love the atmosphere of the restaurant! Really nice staff! Food was amazing! High quality! Highly recommended.
Highlights were the focaccia w truffle butter , prosciutto, kingfish/salmon/scallop, tuna as well as the fish and tiramisu. The banana crème caramel was pretty special, where combination of the crème caramel and banana whipped cream elevated the banana flavour 1000%. However, each individual element on its own tasted subtly of banana. Personally, I didn t enjoy any of the pastas - the seafood pasta had an interesting taste (that left me confused ??), while the ragu was too salty and the rigatoni didn t have much flavour at all. I also relayed this feedback to a staff member. On this note, the service was fantastic from being greeted at the door, attentive at our table as well as seeing us out. My friend liked this restaurant a lot more than Tottis! I agree on the tapas/ entree items as well as dessert, however the pastas were slightly disappointing. Note that the ambient lighting was a bit too ambient and I could barely see the menu and the food I would recommend this spot to others !
Pellegrino 2000 is positively darling. Fantastic atmosphere with a smart menu stacked with good options. The pappardelle bolognaise has the silkiest pasta and the ragu is packed with flavour. The Milanese veal is also a must try. My fav was the octopus and potato with parsley, holy cow what a dish, so tasty I should have ordered two portions. Affogato is the perfect way to end the meal. The service is so attentive and the wait staff know the menu really well. The atmosphere is cosy and cool. Kind of old school Italy with fantastically nostalgic artwork. Awesome place for friend catch ups, date nights and Sunday lunches. We went for my sister s birthday and it was an excellent choice. Can t wait to go back and try more of the menu. Oh and great cocktails Vegetarian options: Vege options on the menu are noted Dietary restrictions: All dietaries are noted on the menu and servers also ask about restrictions prior to ordering Parking: Street parking only. Limited and can be tricky depending on day and also time. Paid timed parking Kid-friendliness: Leave the kids at home and enjoy some adult time
Overall exceptional experience. Wonderful team who were very informative and knew what they were talking about. Great recommendations and could not fault the food. The music and atmosphere were vibrant. Had a great time with the family.
Amazing service! Jordan was so attentive and it was great to have a chat to him whilst enjoying our food. The desserts very incredible!
Not a bad location. We sat outside. They have heaters as it was a tad cold. We had the Spaghetti with Vongole and except the Vongole were not Vongole. They were clams hoping no one would notice. I noticed. The actual sauce was tasty and pasta well cooked. A little on the light side. Could have been a bit more pasta in the plate. We also had the Carbonara which was pretty well put together but a real carbonara. We also had 2 Pappardelle Bolognese which the kids finished. I think its a tad on the expensive side. Service was excellent.
The ambiance is intimate and dim, setting the perfect mood. Staffs are so friendly!!! However, the food is a big letdown. Despite my hopes, the limited menu and high prices just don t match up. We ordered two pastas and the veal; the veal was passable at $48, but the pasta $38each was chewy and poorly cooked. Not worth the price, unfortunately. As well as the cocktails.. $18 for 2sips size. And the burrata.. its meant to be soft and silky but find yourself a chewy one there :( There are so many other restaurants with the same prices and better foods.
Amazing experience with exceptional food, wine and top tier service! Highly recommend and cant wait to return!!
Alright, if you don t go for anything else, you MUST go for dessert! I have never ever been so emotionally moved by a dessert, let alone two. Both the hazelnut tiramisu and banana creme caramel with banana chantilly cream were flawless. I m gonna shamelessly name drop here, but Taylor Swift was walking by my table as I was eating the dessert and as surreal as that was, I think I was genuinely more taken aback by the food haha Also, the prawn ravioli was an absolute banger
Great place to have dinner with your partner and family especially with the great ambiance. Walk-in and got the outdoor seating during winter but there were great gas heater so it was enjoyable. Some dishes was just alright but focaccia with the butter was delicious. Overall not too bad
Staff were lovely but food was completely overrated and disappointing
Beautiful place to eat. Very good quality.
Amicable service but not impressed by food.
It was really good!! The atmosphere was nice and the interior was nice. I heard its difficult to make a reservation, but its a must-see place
Delicious Italian food with friendly service. Love the focaccia with truffle butter, definitely a must try. Tiramisu was little too sweet but very creamy with a nutty flavor. Overall slightly overpriced for me, was expecting to get full for that price.
Best Cocktail exp
Expensive wines and the carbonara was not a carbonara! The aperitive, the vitello tonnato, was tasty though.
Exquisite food, ambiance and service. Party of six, we had the set menu which was wonderful. Prawn Ravioli and Crudo stand out dishes. Highly recommend. Cant wait to go back.
Amazing food, very attentive service!
My partner and I discovered Pellegrino 2000 a couple of months before Taylor Swifts visit earlier this year. We casually wandered up just after midday, and the only available seats were at the street-side counter. From there, we could easily listen to the Italian jazz, feel the summer breeze and watch the staff prepare the famous Prawn Ravioli. The Negronis are delicious, and the place has a laid-back yet sophisticated European feel. You have to try the Focaccia Burro. The bread is crisp on the outside, light and fluffy in the middle. The butter is soft and salty with herbs, parmesan, truffle and possibly anchovy and capers. Salty but not overpowering, just creamy, buttery, and wonderful. Everything else we ate was equally perfect - see pictures. We visited again within two weeks, and the experience was exactly the same. This led us to book a multi-generational family birthday lunch at the venue. We opted for a $90 set menu that kept us entertained and relaxed for a couple of hours grazing. The wine list is extensive and leans towards higher-priced producers. The only downside since Taylors visit was that they seemed a little busier than usual, and possibly as a result, the service wasnt quite as relaxed as during our first visits - though it could have just been the day we visited. Anyway, this is a minor issue, and I would go there again in a heartbeat.
the vibe was nice, but the food is too salty for me
Sat outside in the cold and still wowed at the experience. Loved the bants with the staff and the food. Must get bread, peppers with anchovy and calamari. Only bad thing was that the mains with the fries were a bit cold as it had been sitting on the bench near the kitchen for a while. They need to improve this process
Probably the best food we ve had in Sydney so far. The staff were also really friendly.
Busy. Expensive.
Absolutely phenomenal. Dined there a week ago for Sunday lunch during my quick trip to Sydney, sat at the bar and watched what s happening so closely and enjoyed everything! The best thing I ve felt and witnessed is the staff! So pleasant, attentive, very knowledgeable, and they communicate well one another to run the operation smoothly. I mean without they, you couldn t create the fantastic vibes/atmosphere I work in the hospitality industry and this experience here that I d like to bring back to our team Perfect example of a great trattoria! As for the meal, was offered a special combo of Artichokes alla Romana and Focaccia e burro that were served in half portion (perfect for the solo traveler, nice call and so very thoughtful!) both so delicious. Had a Bolognese which was prepared/served by the sous chef right in front of me, Buono From the first step into the restaurant till I left, it didn t disappoint. I d visit again in a heartbeat all the way back from Japan for another Pellegrino 2000 experience! (next time for dinner and wine!) Arigato!
Underwhelming service from staff. Our pasta took 30min to arrive (pasta doesn t take that long to cook) and yet we were constantly reminded that we would have to leave soon as there were other patrons coming. Behaviour from the staff was condescending. We didn t need to be reminded every 10 minutes.
The butter is to die for. Focaccia with butter is a must try!!!
Dont believe the hype, cool vibe but food is something that can be done at home, basic Italian cuisine. Service was prompt initially but forgotten shortly thereafter which equated to missing drinks having to be followed up and missing out on ordering an additional 4 bottles of vino. Cute for first date impressions.
The overall experience was thoroughly disappointing. The food was mediocre and especially so given its price. The prawn ravioli tasted like bland wontons swimming in a pool of butter. Other dishes: quail - much better than the ravioli but okay at best. The entrees tasted better than the mains. We had mediocre wine that was overpriced and I was served a 2023 Pinot noir when the menu showed a 2021. In short: I agree with all reviews that state this restaurant is nothing special and well overpriced for what you get.
This was the most enjoyable meal we ve had in such a long time. Every single dish was so delicious and the quality of the produce is outstanding. The vibe and atmosphere is so nice, it feels like you re in Europe. The service was amazing and so accomodating and friendly. Can t recommend this place enough!
Some of the best food I ve ever had, incredibly attentive, knowledgeable and friendly staff Focaccia with truffle butter incredible Tuna tartare w/ stracciatella incredible Breasola incredible to the point we had to ask where they get it Prawn ravioli wild Verde negroni s delicious
Food, service and atmosphere was amazing. The truffle butter with the focaccia is delicious. The anchovies and peppers were also a standout. The crudo de mare was also another highlight! Beautiful selection of cocktails and wines.
Loved it! Everything was Perfecto! Fantastico
The food was a delight, atmosphere relaxed but buzzing with patrons on a Monday evening. The staff member downstairs was very helpful and patient to our family of six that included a couple of children made the experience even better. We all thoroughly enjoyed the evening, thank you.
All the staff are always so friendly and knowledgeable of both the menu and wine pairings. I always enjoy my experience here. Tonight having dinner by myself, the bartender Andrew was really engaging and I really enjoyed the new dish on the menu, the pappaedelle alle bolognese. 10/10 every time I come.
Flawless Italian food served to perfection. Impeccable service. Incredible atmosphere. Best americano cocktail I ve ever had.
Wonderful cosy trattoria in Surrey Hills. We had a beautiful vitello tonnato, cotoletta Milanese and rigatoni carbonara that brought us right back to Italy. Staff were friendly and wine list compact but thoughtful.
Food, atmosphere and wine were all good but the exceptional service of Celia was fantastic. Celia gave great recommendations and looked after out every need. Great experience. Will be back.
Had an amazing experience at Pellegrino 2000 for a Friday lunch. Service was friendly and attentive. Started with the focaccia with truffle butter and the calamari, which both were lovely and flavoursome. The off menu cacio e pepe (vegetarian option) was one of the best I have have (especially since I am a cacio e pepe fanatic). The fish of the day, with potato puree and zucchini flowers was beautiful, moist and full of flavour. Side of cavolo nero was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. Coffee at the end of the meal was lovely. We were served by Celia who was charming and attentive, and answered our questions about the food and the restaurant. We were seated downstairs in the cellar where the atmosphere was great! Overall, it was a wonderful experience and exceeded our expectations. Would return!
Cant fault anything food was amazing, great service we had the fish of the day which was absolutely yum, the fried pizza ,the octopus salad, spaghetti with clams really nice and we had the profiteroles with ice cream all were delicious
great overall
Came here for my birthday very cool atmosphere and great choice of music! Service is 10/10 all staff are attentive and friendly. We ordered the parpadelle ragu which was cooked to perfection and the spaghetti pipis that were nice and flavoursome. Highly recommend the tiramisu tasted like a hazelnut gelato! The crème caramel and banana cream was nice. Loved the little candle. Tay Tay knows her food!
Came to this restaurant bc it s known as the restaurant Taylor swift and Sabrina carpenter dined in!! Hahaha. I m such a focaccia girl and I can say this is easily the best focaccia I ve ever eaten!! Super fresh and It also goes so well with the Tonno & stracciatella my friend and I were blown away by it 10/10!! We both ordered the Pappardelle alle Bolognese as well, my friend loved it, It but it was probs a 7/10 to me..? Still good, but the focaccia and tonno wowed me even more. Cosy restaurant, cute date place. Great ambience.
Food is extremely salty and in very small portion. Not worth the price they charged. Service is good though. Food : 2/5 |
Molto Bene!! Came here for a Birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. Had the pleasure of dining down in the cellar which added to the dining experience. The food was delicious for every course that we ordered; the standouts being the octopus, carbonara and tiramisu, along with the house focaccia. Would highly recommend to anyone that enjoys Italian dinning, will definitely be coming back!
Pre theatre dinner was delicious. Seated in cellar, lovely atmosphere n cosy. Service excellent n friendly. Food delicious. Vitello tonnato yum. Spaghetti vongole double yum. Great way to start the evening.
Food was excellent, service was great. The drinks were super tasty. My favourite was the octopus, and their pasta was really fresh. 100% recommend, date night or casual night with friends
Legendary food, service and atmosphere
One of the best in Sydney
What a find! We were very fortunate to score a walk in at the bar which was the best spot in the place. The vibe, the staff and the food were next level. Tom & Andrew were amazing hosts. Cannot wait to go back and try more of the menu!
The pastas were great, especially the papperdelle The girl that served us was super nice with a great energy. The shop was tastefully decorated create atmosphere. 5/5 easy
Beautiful decor, lovely service. Very well done Italian classics as well as some more modern entrees which were just as divine. Will have to return to try more! Dietary restrictions: Very accomodating, showing great care
One of our favourite Italian spots in Sydney - the food and service is always amazing!
My new favourite restaurant in Sydney! Went with some of my friends and we all loved it so much. The vibe of this place is immaculate and the food tops it as well. The tuna starter was our favourite, along with the buffalo mozzarella. Camille was a great waitress, she was so polite and did an amazing job. The guy who took our order was also fantastic and knew everything about the dishes. You can tell they have heaps of experience! Kudos to Taylor swift and Sabrina carpenter for coming here otherwise I wouldn t have known about this restaurant. Will be back soon!
Amazing selection of wines. The pasta quality is really amazing.
Good service, great environment, average food. Went to Pellegrino with high expectations after seen some very good reviews. The place has a great atmosphere, perfect for a date. But the food it is suppose to be an Italian restaurant. The pasta was sticky and dry. Definitely not worth the money. Food
Terrible service , loud , lack of care for price of meals ! Cafe service .. for premium price
Absolutely superb! I went recently to celebrate my birthday and was absolutely blown away across the board. Such a beautiful little place and I can see why its a favourite of Nigella Lawson, Jamie Oliver and most recently Taylor Swift! Highly recommend! Kid-friendliness: Upstairs is fine. Dont recommend bringing them downstairs to the cellar.
Made a reservation while one the attendees fall ill with flu a day before. Called their phone a day before booking time to try cancel with no one picked up THREE TIMES. Now they are trying to charge me 80/per head when I finally got through on the day of lunching booking, 20mins ahead Im not paying for their unresponsiveness
Food was primo. Service was top-notch (passionate and knowledgeable ambassadors!), although felt wait staff were one short downstairs. Atmosphere was spot on. Loved the experience. Definitely coming back for more!
Food is very authentic and service is excellent
Great Italian food and drinks in Surry, cant go wrong
Had a pleasant enough lunch but was quite disappointed to see waitstaff breaking up polystyrene boxes into small pieces in the street and putting the pieces into council recycling bins. Pieces of polystyrene were left on the footpath. I politely raised my concern about the recyclability of polystyrene with another member of waitstaff who showed no apparent interest. Were it not for this, I would give 3-4 stars.
Dan is the man
In a dark city corner of Surry Hills, theres this Italian joint that fancies itself the don of the dining scene. Classy and nostalgic. Step inside, and it s like you ve wandered onto the set of a Fellini film the kitchen staff are putting on a show, all vibes. The focaccia? Fluffy, crusty, straight from Nonnas kitchen. But that truffle butter? Its like theyve dredged it up from the depths of the Bosphorus salty. Now, onto the crab pasta divine, with tomatoes so ripe they could start a revolution. The bar and desserts? Theyre like treasures waiting to be discovered, but thats a job for another day. Would we go back? Definitely.
Excellent food and great service with a varied twist on the traditional Italian cuisine.
Incredible dining experience last night. Jordan, our waiter, provided the best service experience we have had in Sydney in recent years. Superb food, great value, I can t wait to go back.
Unbelievable food and service, my wife and I drove from Newcastle on Sunday for an early lunch with our son and his partner , I m licking my lips just thinking about the delicious food that we had 10/10
A beautiful restaurant decorated very well. It has an excellent atmosphere and the staff is very attentive and friendly. Our waitress explained the menu of the day, which includes antipasti, pasta of the day, then the second dish with a side and a desert. She gave her personal recommendations, which were all delicious and couldn t be more appropiate. We loved the focaccia and its butter, calamari, the artichokes also the pasta and the second dishes with the compliment side. Generous portions and we definitely left feeling full, after a delicious hazelnut mascarpone tiramisu.
Pellegrino 2000 has been on my list for a few months now so when the opportunity came to visit with a few friends I was very excited! Between 4 girls we got for entree - 2 servings of focaccia, crudo di mare, polpo & patete, for main - spaghetti crab & pomodorini, ravioli, prawns and brown butter, and for dessert - profiteroles, tiramisu, and crema caramello alla banana. The entrees were definitely a highlight and loved them all. The mains were alright and we all preferred the ravioli over the spaghetti. Dessert was also a crowd favourite, in particular the tiramisu and the banana crème. The staff were also very lovely. Would highly recommend and visit again.
Absolute gem! This place hits the mark every time - great service, delicious food, great wine options. Great atmosphere - I love getting a seat at the bar (especially if youre dining solo)
Very pleasant experience, service was excellent and the food was delicious.
Delicious food in an intimate setting. Staff were attentive and friendly. The ravioli was divine.
The food is incredibly tasty and atmosphere was great
At Pellegrino 2000, the menu isnt extensive but they do each of their dishes well. The foccacia with the truffle butter is a must! Crudo di Mare is my go to and the burratta and octopus were also delicious. I was lucky enough to get a table on a Sunday arvo as a walk in. The tiramisu was a great way to finish the meal!
I visited here on my first night and returned on my last night the food is amazing the staff were brilliant especially Andrew the whole atmosphere is is bang on I would recommend giving this place a try. Thanks to all the staff who looked after us first class Food
Such a beautiful and intimate place for lunch. The waiter/bartender was amazing at explaining the menu and was very charismatic the whole time. Food was exceptional and the cocktails are to die for. Would definitely come back to try more.
Perfect date night. Wonderful food and ambience. The service was a stand out - our waitress was SO lovely. Would definitely recommend.
Could not have been more disappointed with the food. Our Fritto Misto was great and as you would expect, the octopus (polpo e patate) was very unpleasant. The octopus was like chewing a rubber boot. Our pasta with crab was the biggest let down. A sauce that I assume had sugar added, so sweet and packed with chunks of raw garlic. Very un-Italian to have a sauce so overly sweet. Such a shame as the actual spaghetti was sensational, ruined by a bad sauce. Dessert was 50/50 the tiramisu was fantastic but the crème caramel was thick, lumpy and heavy. We were also not fans of a big plate of what was called chantilly cream, felt more like a plate of air and sickly to eat. The drinks were superb and our waiter was fantastic. Wish that the food met the high standard expected due to the hype.
Delicious, classic, perfectly executed Italian food
One of my favorite restaurants in Sydney. The service was so good, the waiter explained everything on the menu and gave us very good recommendations. We had the burrata, peppers, focaccia with truffle butter (!), artichokes, the spagetthi e seppie, ravioli di Gamberi and the tiramisu, and it was all amazing. The ravioli and the truffle butter was probably my absolute favorites. Have recommended to all our friends.
Very nice and elegant food with awesome staff especially Daniel the bar tender who was super amazing. Will be back for sure Food
A beautifully decorated restaurant with excellent atmosphere and very attentive and friendly staff. Our waitress explained the menu thoroughly to us and gave her personal recommendations, which were all delicious. We loved the fritto misto (one of the best we ve ever had) and the pastas and milanese were incredible for main. Generous portions and we definitely left feeling full, only able to share one dessert between the four of us (a delicious hazelnut mascarpone tiramisu).
the atmosphere and service was an experience like no other. the food was exceptional. will definitely be coming again
Food is good but there are much better places in Sydney for pasta (Acqua e Farina, Camelia Grove). Service was ridiculous though and overcharged us for items we didn t order and added extra dishes. Wine room downstairs is great. Overall average Italian in a nice location with mediocre service! Don t @ me
Dined here twice for dinner and had solidly delicious meals (+ great desserts!!) with genuinely friendly and attentive service both times. Easily will come back and recommend to friends.
Booked this place for my birthday because of the hype. First of all got judged by the amount of food I was considering to order. Was told that the dishes I ordered would not be enough to feed my table. First of all we are all smaller eaters, and I understand this may be normal culture overseas but I do not appreciate being told that. Whatever we ordered ended up being more than enough to satisfy us. The food and pasta did not live up to the hype. Yes it was good but not amazing level. Also, 10$ per person cakeage fee is outrageous. We should have been alerted of this fee before I surrendered my cake to the kitchen to be cut. I was expecting maybe 5$ per person. If I knew it would be that much, I would just take the cake out of the restaurant and have it elsewhere. Asked for a dessert menu and never received it. The one positive was that this restaurant was very vegetarian friendly, albeit you must ask the waitstaff for options as they are not on the menu. Otherwise they were relatively attentive and tried to make my experience a good one.
Absolute vibes, one of the best meals we have had in Sydney. We sat at the Bar and every dish was on fire. Andrew behind the bar was a pro and the drinks he made were great. Give the man a raise! We will be back for sure.
Love the vibe and the interior of the restaurant. We sat in the lower ground floor and absolutely like the atmosphere. Staffs were very nice and helpful. They introduced all the signature dishes and explained the menu to us. But if you do not know any Italian, you may need to take some time to study the menu. We ordered the polpo and patate (octopus). The octopus was perfectly cooked. Very soft and the sauce was a bit citrus and very appetising. The highly recommended focaccia worth a try. The highlight is definitely the truffle butter. Couldn t stop eating it with the delicious butter. But it was quite a big piece so make sure you leave some room for the other dishes. The spaghetti crab with pomodorini tasted a bit average and the portion of crab meat was less than expected. I wish they could have put more in the pasta. The Milanese was a bit disappointing because it looked great but tasted a bit dry. Maybe veal schnitzel was just not our thing.
Loved every bit of the experience at Pellegrino 2000. The food was heavenly and the staff attentive and helpful (especially with translating the menu!). Will definitely come back again and again.
An amazing Italian dining experience, the pastas definitely stole the show. Special shout out to the prawn ravioli, the prawns were so plumpy and flavourful. The pastas were also cooked al dente, with a great bite and chew - very enjoyable experience!
Its not even the end of February, and I can already say that I have found one of my top restaurants of the year. Though it was 5pm and bright as hell outside, the downstairs dining area made it feel like it was late at night. I loved the moody wine cellar, the artwork, the music all of it really! If I had to recommend somewhere for a first date, this would be it. Here s what we ordered: Focaccia e burro Artichokes alla Romana Peppers acqua pazza Prosciutto & bufala Tomato & melone, buffalo curd Polpo & patate Crudo di mare Polentini & mortadella Rigatoni all Amatriciana Ravioli, prawns & brown butter Spaghetti al nero, crab, zucchine & pistachio Crema caramello alla banana Lemon delizia, pistachio. Yeah, we pretty much ordered the whole menu and I ain t mad. Everything stood out for me especially the Rigatoni, and despite the Ravioli being more on the salty side, I would go back and order it again and again.
Just had lunch here. Everyone working there was awesome: Polite, knowledgeable and funny. Will definitely be back. 6 plates of food but not a misstep in them. Thank you
Very good cuisine, staff was lovely and the spot was great as well! Very neighborhood friendly vibe. Pasta was delicious !
I went for dinner last night as a solo diner and had a great time sitting at the bar. The food was delicious (had the prawn ravioli and banana crème caramel), though there was no way I could eat all of that banana cream, to say that the amount given was decadent would be a gross understatement! The staff were highly professional and friendly and made sure everything was well.
Absolutely enjoyed our time here, so much so that we have rebooked again for this Friday!
I hope Taylor Swift paid her bill. She can certainly afford to do so. Too many wealthy celebrities go for free.
Friendly staff and welcoming, warm vibe is enough to check this place out once. Food wise, our entrees were good (truffle butter that came with focaccia was yummy, artichoke was good too and octopus salad hit the spot) BUT pastas (crab spaghetti and ravioli) were disappointing. Someone in the kitchen was VERY generous with the salt and shrimp-dumpling ravioli wasnt really what I was looking for.
