259 George St, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia
The food is simply amazing & more importantly at a very reasonable price. Moreover, the quantity is big. Some dishes are enough for two ppl also. I'll be back to enjoy the good food here.
It's in the food court. The food was good, mine had a lot of coconut in my crispy chicken laska. The chicken was really crispy and tender. But was a bit disappointed with the soup. I think it was peak out they made mine in a rush .... Mine had a of bean sprouts than noodles. Otherwise is good. I might go there when it's a bit quieter time. The price is really decent mine cost $16.00.
Surprisingly the food taste and quality is not bad aka good for Chinese fast food. The dishes I tried is almost like home cooking taste. My default lunch venue in the city now and price is reasonable. We had haniese chicken rice and beef brisket wanton soup. Also tonnes of sitting.
To find price and quality of food like this is hard to find anywhere let alone in they city. They are always so welcoming even with the large amount of customers they have. Would highly recommend this place to anyone thats looking for great food at cheap prices. The portion sizes are solid as well definitely worth every dollar.
The food is incredibly authentic, and the service is friendly and fast. It's the perfect spot for office workers in the area. Prices are very affordable too. I've visited several times, and the quality is consistently excellent. My favorite dish is the XO stir-fried rice noodles with beef, today I tried the Hainan chicken rice, and it was incredibly tender. Highly recommended!
If you haven’t heard, seen or even been to famous chef inside the foodcourt of 259 George Street, then you might be missing out one of the most affordable Chinese meals in Sydney CBD. Coincidentally, I have noticed another store at Met Centre called famous lunch (not sure if it’s the same owner?). Famous chefs menu serves soup/ dry noodles, laksa, rice/ fried rice and stir fried noodle dishes. Under each category there’s upto 8 different variety of dishes to choose from, which makes your selection easier. An even easier choice for you to make are the daily specials, which normally include their signature or most sold meals. While all the meals are very affordable, they are also served in decent portion too. As for taste, you won’t get the same quality as the ones in Chinatown, but Famous aren’t too bad. The beef brisket soup offered generous amounts of beef & noodle and tasted not too bad. However, I didn’t particularly fancy the hainanese chicken rice too much. Compared to other restaurants and for similar prices at Chinatown, the portion was very small, chicken wasn’t boneless and there was no shallot or chilli sauce. Crispy chicken laksa was a great dish, large in portion and the chicken was nice. Another thing to note if you buy from famous and pay in cash, you save $1. It might not be much but it’s a small incentive and making it an affordable lunch.
Mar 2024: New takeaway in Sydney's worst office building/ food court! Glad they've moved in, excellent mix of classic Asian dishes. Do all the ones I've tried so far very well. All dishes $15+ but I guess that's where we are with the last 2 years of inflation... Good luck to them.
Delicious food and friendly service. They do get very busy during the weekday lunchtime. Orders can take a little longer than expected when they are busy but is always cooked fresh and to order. It's definitely worth checking them out!
Customer service was good and very informative but their vegetable and tofu items are not vegetarian. It has chicken stock but they say it is. Be careful.
Good food, best beef fried rice at a very good price.
