Ordered 4 courses meal for 2 pax with 2 sides and 1 sashimi for entree. The moment I entered the restaurant to the point I exit the premise, everything was flawless. The staff are so professional, very positive ambience, helpful, attentive and cheerful. Foods were immaculate, fresh produced ingredients combined with awesome cooking skill as well as very well balanced flavor in every single dish. Not to forget, they have great options for cocktail and mocktail too. They really put an effort to make your tummy and soul happy. Special thanks to Melissa and Simon who assisted me. Looking forward to see you guys next time.

Had a nice 4-course dinner here. The place also has a nice view overlooking Circular Quay and is in an easily accessible location via public transport. Would recommend the scallop sashimi, and the quail; both very unique dishes. The scallop was tender and the sweet cucumber complemented it well. The quail comes with a jus as well as a mango puree and a (?)carrot sauce all of which enriched the juiciness of the quail meat. Service was lovely, all the staff are very keen and friendly (especially the manager) and bathrooms and amenities excellent. The little snacks were great and they even offered more but we were too full 🤗

Came here on a great sunny afternoon and was kindly greeted by staff! They asked if there was any special occasion for us which we didn’t have but i assume they do special writing and touches if it is! The window seat was so nice, and a great spot to just look over the water and people. I like how they have the seating angled so that both people can see. The decor was so pretty and sleek. We got the three course set and found that we were quite full! Of course with some small additions of oysters, sashimi and potato sides. The dishes were spaced out quite nicely and in between dishes they would clean our plates and the table which was a very nice luxury experience! The oysters were nice and the mignonette was very nice. The sashimi was played very nice and was just okay in my opinion. Maybe a skip from me! The snacks were really great, the sushi roll was my least favourite, the flavour was just soso. The toro tart was really good and it was light and it had a good combination of the crunch texture and the soft sashimi. The warm octopus cruller was really nice and it was warm, I liked the white strawberry too. The bread was nice and and the miso butter was so good, I wish there was more butter!!! We got the kingfish which was nice with the cream but there were small pieces of jelly that were bursting with flavour! The beef tartare nice, with the nori chips, i feel like it was just okay. I would maybe recommend trying another dish instead! The toothfish was so good, it wasn’t too caramelised or sweet which I find some other places do. I liked the sauce with it as well. The fish was cooked well. The stockyard chuck tail flap was really good too, just on its own, the additional things on the plate were okay though. The steak was so flavourful and buttery! The potatoes were nice, quite crispy !!! The pre dessert was a great fresh palate cleanser. As for desserts, the forest berry saka was not that great in my opinion, it was nice but there was a strange flavour in between I can’t really describe. I much preferred the yuzu mille feuille was was the perfect balance of fresh and creamy!!! The petit fours were nice, the fudge was my favourite!! I like the mandarin spritz as a drink! Overall a great place with great food, love the service and vibes. Perfect for a special occasion!

5/5 experience all round. Firstly the service was impeccable, everyone was friendly and accommodating and paid attention to details. The food was amazing and unique, and you can tell that care has been taken to every aspect of the dishes through its flavours and colours. Everything tasted fresh and was a delight to the palette. Loved the nice touches including scented hand towels, plates and tiny treats at the end of our 2 course menu. Lovely atmosphere during lunch on weekends with not too many crowds - though I'd imagine it'll only get busier from here with their new chef hat award! Highly recommend their lunch menu if you're on a slightly smaller budget, exceptional value and would definitely return again. Thanks to all staff for making my friend and my dining experiences so lovely!

Dear Oborozuki Team, I wanted to express my deepest gratitude for the extraordinary experience you created for us on the evening of my proposal. From the moment I reached out, your dedication and thoughtfulness exceeded every expectation. Despite how busy I knew you must be, your team stayed engaged and put so much effort into making our evening absolutely unforgettable. The private setup, complete with candles and flowers in a beautifully prepared venue, was beyond anything I could have imagined. It made the night feel incredibly personal and intimate, and it added a magical touch to such a significant moment in our lives. You created an atmosphere that was perfect in every way, and we felt so valued and cared for throughout the evening. Thank you, sincerely, for going above and beyond to help us celebrate. I am deeply grateful for all the care and attention you put into every detail—it made this memory one we will cherish forever. With heartfelt thanks, Ela

Had a really great dinner at Oborozuki. The Wagyu A5 beef was easily the highlight—super tender and full of flavor. If you're into quality beef, this is definitely the place to try it. The entrees were on point too, and the complimentary snacks and desserts were a nice touch that rounded out the meal perfectly. Everything was presented beautifully and tasted just as good as it looked. The service was another standout. The staff were friendly, attentive, and seemed genuinely happy to be there, which added to the overall relaxed vibe. It’s a perfect spot for a birthday, anniversary, or even just an excuse to treat yourself. Definitely worth checking out!

I am incredibly grateful that I chose to dine at Oborozuki to celebrate my 30th birthday. From the moment we walked in until the moment we stepped out, everything about the experience was an absolute delight! I felt that we were very well taken care of. The amazing food was elevated by the theatre and spectacle of the dining experience and I loved each of the three courses and each wine and sake pairing. Melissa was a fantastic host! Her humour and her attention to detail was incredible. I am looking forward to the next special occasion because I will be coming back!

Chef Novi did a fantastic job; she cooked each dish perfectly, taking into account the size of the ingredients and our specific requests. All the waitresses were very nice and professional, giving us enough privacy while also ensuring that finished dishes were promptly cleared and our water glasses were always full. The Sommelier Kim was both knowledgeable and friendly. My wife loved the beautiful Edo Keiko but, as shes not a strong drinker, couldn t manage the full sake pairing. The sommelier graciously offered her a complimentary smaller portion of the sake pairing. Except the beautiful Edo Keiko, the soy sauce plate is also impressive. All plates and cutlery are stylish. The quality of the ingredients was exceptional the best of the best. The private teppanyaki room offered stunning views and complete privacy. This was the best meal we ve ever had in Australia! If there s one thing could be improved, that is the surcharged sashimi. The price is very decent and the quality is good, but compare to everything else, it s a little mediocre.

This was a five star experience in every way. I was worried it was going to be a bit pretentious as we dont often do fine dining, but the friendly waiters made us feel at ease every step of the way. Indeed, the highlight was the incredible hospitality and service - every member of the team went out of their way to surprise and delight us at every possible opportunity which made for a wonderful, unforgettable lunch experience. The food was also excellent, with the Glacier 51 Toothfish and Yuzu Mille Feuille particular highlights. I also appreciated how attentive they were in catering for my dietary requirements. The ambience was very pleasant, with an amazing view of the harbour and plenty of sunlight streaming in through the tall windows. Overall, this was a true hidden gem of an experience, and I couldnt recommend it highly enough. Dietary restrictions: Can cater for a garlic intolerance

I was very impressed by our dinner at Oborozuki. When looking at the menu I was thinking that a 3 course meal for almost 200 pp is very expensive, but all in all, around 10 dishes were presented, including amuse-bouche, pre dessert, and dessert. It ended up being a very complete and well balanced fine dining experience. I was very impressed at most of the dishes, in particular the various amuse-bouche, the beef tartare, the duck, and the toothfish. Flavours were interesting, not overly intense, and the fusion of Japanese and French was well executed. The ingredients tasted fresh and high quality. Service was outstanding, and the ambience of the restaurant is excellent. Its a beautiful, spacious, and well decorated venue and great for a celebration or special occasion. Whilst it is quite pricey, I think its well worth it for a high quality and interesting fine dining experience, especially as well executed French - Japanese fusion is rare in Sydney.

Visited 27 July. Food was decent, but not incredible. The venue itself is beautiful with great views. Service was unfortunately the biggest let down - staff themselves were polite and friendly but attentiveness and speed could use a large amount of work. Post meal when paying, the staff forgot to get my signature and called me asking me to provide all credit card details on the phone. Tried several times which failed. Both calls ended up with me racking up 60 dollars in roaming fees for the incomings, as well as having to pay a service fee to make payment online. Bit of a heft penalty given it was not even my mistake. I was offered a glass of champagne on my next visit but doubt I will be visiting again on my next trip to Sydney given the dampener put on my mood post a not inexpensive meal.

A Perfect Birthday Celebration! I recently celebrated my birthday at Oborozuki, and it was an unforgettable experience! This French-Japanese fusion fine dining restaurant exceeded all my expectations. From the moment we walked in, we were enveloped in an elegant and sophisticated ambiance that set the perfect tone for the evening. The menu is a beautiful marriage of French and Japanese cuisines. We were particularly impressed by the spanner crab and duck dishes, both of which were incredibly flavorful and artfully presented. The wine and sake pairings curated by Romain, the wine sommelier, and Kim, the sake sommelier, were spot-on, enhancing each dish and making the meal even more memorable. Special mention goes to our waitress, Federica, who provided impeccable service throughout the night. The team went above and beyond to accommodate my allergy, ensuring that every dish was safe for me to enjoy. To top it all off, they surprised me with a customized birthday cake that was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. Oborozuki made my birthday truly special, and I can t wait to return. Our waiter, Simon, as well as the other staff, were always attentive, keeping the dining table clean and our drinks topped up. Another highlight was a drink that was no longer on the menu was whipped up and served. I highly recommend the wine-sake pairing as it educates you on its origin and how it compliments the taste of the food. The ambience and music choice complimented the architecture of the establishment - if youre into that, enhancing the dining experience, it wasnt too loud. Perfect fusion, fine-dining in CBD Sydney Impressive delicate French/Japanese combination, Oborozuki has a luxurious set up, excellent service and most importantly delicious food. The lady chef and her team are mastering fantastic product and taste with great technique, honestly there is nothing to fault here at least for all we tried, which is rare these days, attention to detail, savours and presentation is top. To complement the experience the team on the floor that night, from Melissa, to Federica, and the sommeliers Harold (wine) and Kim (sake), have all provided friendly and excellent service on a Wednesday dinner. The food plate is perfectly sized, the four-course option is a good choice for food lovers :1 cold, 1 hot entrée, 1 main, 1 dessert , includes 3 mise en bouche to start, pre dessert Granita, and petit fours. The guest is treated with genuine generosity and attention something reminiscent of the old days. Open for dinner, lunch due to start early August I was told. I had booked here to celebrate my partner and Is anniversary. It was not a good start to the night. It was bucketing down and we were soaked upon arrival. The first person who took us to our table didnt offer to take our coats or umbrella and we had to wave someone down to do so as our seats were getting damp. The table we were sat at was undesirable and did not feel a part of the restaurant. A large factor for choosing to dine here was to have some type of view of Circular Quay. Our table was in the back corner of the restaurant with no view, the ceilings were low due to it being underneath the staircase and it was adjacent to the wine cellar/kitchen. Wed asked if there were any other tables available and were told no. Shortly after our drinks arrived however, the maitre d (I think) Melissa came over to check in on us and offered to move us to a table in the main dining area. This was the highlight of our night. Melissa was cheerful, charismatic and very helpful. The food was good. Well cooked and flavours were balanced/on the subtle side. The cocktails were great, although fairly pricey ~$30 each. Overall it was a good experience. Id recommend changing the booking site to include an option to choose a section of the restaurant to book a table, with a description of the dining area as we were misled with the photos available online regarding the seating arrangement. We also noticed multiple groups requesting for a change in table as they probably werent satisfied with where they were sat.

Reply 12/6/2024: Thank you for your response and for acknowledging the issues we faced during our recent visit. We appreciate your apology and your efforts to provide your perspective on the situation. However, we feel it is important to clarify that, despite the manager s multiple apologies, her approach significantly impacted our dining experience. While she did return with a corrected bill, she aggressively stated it was impossible and implied we were dishonest because she saw us being served two refreshments. As customers, we found this behavior disappointing. We also noticed that the guests at the table next to us were sharing their desserts without issue, which added to our confusion regarding the enforcement of this policy. Furthermore, this policy did not seem to be enforced when we dined in the private room a month ago. The manager never mentioned that sharing would be an issue during our meal. The main issue is not the charge, but the attitude with which the situation was handled. There was an error with the bill, and we were then accused of lying. While misunderstandings can happen, the manager s attitude left us uncomfortable. Your response shifts the blame onto us by attributing the issue to our deviation from your standard practice, rather than addressing the manager s behavior. It also seems the manager might not have fully conveyed the entire story to you. She never stated that sharing was not allowed. Instead, she mentioned that substituting the entrée with a dessert might not be allowed and attributed this to the waitress, claiming we insisted on the dessert, which was not the case. We also want to acknowledge that the service from everyone else was great. The staff were attentive and friendly, which we appreciated. It is unfortunate that this incident negatively impacted our overall experience. Best regards, Z C

What a special experience! Outstanding service from the point I entered the venue to the point it was time so say goodbye. Exceptional food, with the duck and wagyu striploin being dishes that I will talk about for weeks. We had some dietary requirements and it was catered for seamlessly. The sake service is unique and luxurious. The sake sommelier is a wealth of knowledge and makes you curious about all the sake thats out there. A warm ambience paired with the best views over the harbour and meticulous attention to detail makes this one of the best dining experiences in Sydney.

Oborozuki has quickly become one of our favorite dining destinations, offering an exceptional experience that seamlessly blends exquisite cuisine with impeccable service. From the moment you step inside, the warm ambiance and elegant decor set the stage for an unforgettable meal. As vegans, my wife and I often face challenges finding restaurants that cater to our dietary preferences without compromising on taste or creativity. Oborozuki, however, surpasses all expectations with its innovative and delicious vegan options. The menu features a variety of meticulously crafted dishes that highlight the freshest ingredients, with each plate being a work of art in both presentation and flavor. What truly elevates Oborozuki above other fine dining establishments is its outstanding staff. The team is knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about providing an exceptional dining experience. Every visit feels personalized, with staff members eager to ensure that each guest feels welcome and well-cared for, regardless of their dietary preferences. A special mention must be made of Melissa, whose dedication and professionalism shine brightly. Melissas warm demeanor and insightful recommendations enhance the dining experience immensely.. Melissas enthusiasm for the restaurants offerings is contagious, and her attention to detail ensures that every aspect of the meal is perfect. In conclusion, Oborozuki is a gem in the culinary world. The combination of outstanding food, a beautiful setting, and an exceptional team, particularly the wonderful Melissa, makes every visit a memorable occasion. I highly recommend Oborozuki to anyone seeking an extraordinary experience!

Stepping into Oborozuki, youre hit with a vibe thats both sleek and relaxed, perfect for kicking back but fancy enough to make you feel special. Our server, Paline (hope got your name right!), was amazing friendly and on top of her game, making sure our evening was spot on. Lets talk food as it was perfection personified! I could discuss the entire menu but instead would love to highlight our favorites. The King Fish Tart set the standard of the nigh right from the start, mixing up fresh kingfish with a twist of apple that exploded on the tongue. Then came the 0Connor Beef Tartare, which ditched traditional crackers for brioche, adding an awesome twist that let the quality of the tartare do all the talking. The Maremma Duck was another highlight, recommended by Paline. It was tender, flavorful, and the cherry madeira sauce was the perfect sidekick, enhancing without overpowering. We kicked off our night with a complimentary Chardonnay for our anniversary (cheers to that!), followed by some seriously classy cocktails-the Yuzu Bees Knees and Calvados Tatin-both Complex and refreshing. Opting out of the wine pairings, we were still wowed by the sommeliers choices and ability to pair multiple dishes with a well rounded wine While the experience at Oborozuki comes witha premium price tag, it is unquestionably worth every cent for the exquisite food and impeccable service. In my view, Oborozuki doesnt just serve food; it offers a soul-warming, heart-healing journey that transports you from the Pacific shores of Japan to the rustic farms of France. I highly recommend Oborozuki for anyone looking to indulge in a dining experience that promises to be memorable.

IMPRESSIVE Having experienced many top restaurants in Sydney, I considered Oborozuki to be the very best Japanese / French restaurant in Sydney on my preferred list. Location of the Restaurant is convenient and accessible, a very good spot close to the Sydney Opera House. Interior design is set in a contemporary theme, and the ambience is elegance. I love the high ceiling and high windows with an opulence overlooking the Sydney harbour. One of the best parts is that ACOUSTIC within the restaurant interiors is reasonably good, it is NOT a noisy space like most restaurants of all so-called 5 Stars restaurants. Chefs Culinary skills are very high. Each dish / meal is cooked to perfection. Presentations of each dish are carefully designed in beautiful art form with a tremendous sense of theatre. Sake selection complement our dishes are heavenly divine, same as all our dishes selection in the evening. The selection of all produce and cooking truly confirmed their passion for culinary excellence in Oborozuki. Services are good with trained waiters and waitresses despite their young look. Highly recommend Oborozuki. We will return for our next dinner soon. Elizabeth TD 08 May 2024

I came here for dinner, receiving a warm welcome from loving and caring staff. A resturant with a breathtaking view of the harbour gives the diners a feeling of a time gone by. Being a relatively new resturant, their dishes still have some room to improve. However, the staff I dealt with made the experience truly magical. Dimitri who hosted us was charming and charismatic, while Kim who waited on us was always helpful, and a wealth of knowledge regarding the food. I whole heartedly recommend for a special occasion, or if youd like to show a loved one a slice of heaven with a harbour view.

You will be surprisingly full after either a three or four course meal at Oborozuki. A French-Japanese fusion restaurant with amazing Circular Quay views. Watch the ferries come and go as you sip on a delicious Japanese cocktail. Enjoy optional extras like super delectable imperedor sashimi as the sun sets behind the city skyline. Three courses consists of two first courses and a main. An additional fourth course is a dessert. All which you have a choice. Theres additional starters, amuse bouche, and palate cleansers which are included at no additional cost. Stand out dishes tonight was the ikura gunkan, scallops, marron, steak tartare, and the tooth fish. But to be honest every dish tasted better than it looks, which is no small task as they all looked simply picture perfect. The staff were super friendly and attentive and the whole experience was more relaxed than other fine diners. I strongly recommend Oborozuki to anyone wanting to enjoy a fantastic meal in an iconic location. Allow two and a half hours for four courses.

The staff are warm and helpful, a particular mention for our server Alicia {sp?} who was exceptional. The starters were beautiful, but a bit under seasoned, apart from the gunkan, which was a contender for dish of the evening. Any misses we re more than compensated by the wins. Oborozuki s Kaiseki misses the mark. This Chinese take on a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner with sprinkles of expensive produce such as sea urchin, beluga caviar, truffle shavings, abalone and toothfish will certainly attract the shamelessly self promoting Tick Tockers. For $400pp the sashimi wasn t fresh for an establishment of this calibre and the desserts were underwhelming beyond belief. Shrewd diners after an authentic Japanese dining experience will see past the facade.

Quite disappointed with our dinner at this venue. We have 2 kids at home, so a big thing for us is getting the most value out of this time together and we didnt get this here. We started at the bar which had a great view and nice drinks but was empty so we had the best pick for seats on the day. Good luck to anyone coming in later. For dinner - the food was fine/decent but were paying Quay prices so we expect a lot more. The wine was nice and Somm was great and knowledgeable. The wait staff were not. Why is the steak so tender? (Their best dish imo), was met with it is flame grilled (this was after checking with manager) - where is the knowledge, whimsy, pride or interest?!!! The venue was pretty empty for a Saturday, which we put down to a new restaurant with poor advertising but the reality is that good food packs out restaurants and that was missing. Ill close with very over priced for ok food. You can do a lot better with price and flavour and encourage you to do both! This is not fine dining

In pluses, we did get a bag to store our bag before placing it down and the waitress did guide us on how it was recommended to eat each dish. Our second wine bottle order was wrong (we didnt mind it since the bottle got opened already but this could have been avoided if the bottle was confirmed with my partner). Although venue is really nice, the air conditioning was dripping where we were seated. All in all, the experience was nice but for the price you pay, I think a few things could be improved.

Went on a business dinner on the 18th feb. I just wished that I had a bit more details on the dishes placed on the table. Giving me more explanation rather than just reading me the name of the dish would have been great. After all, this is fine dining. Where are the ingredients from and why this is being used ? I have specifically asked for a non alcoholic drink for one of my clients who doesn t drink alcohol and received a cocktail after drinking a few sips my client did not feel the best and asked me if alcohol was in it called the waiter and asked Is this a mocktail ? Or a cocktail? he apologised and took the drink away but this was pretty disappointing. At that price point I have to say, I am very picky. The place has a great atmosphere , the food was well presented but not a first class service.

One of the newest Japanese fine dining at Circular quay, Its 11 Course Kaiseki menu ($380pp)* brings Oborozuki to the upper echelon of fine dining in Sydney. With prices even higher than the tasting menus of Oncore ($340pp)* and Quay ($340pp)*, expectations of the food and services were high. Presentation of each dish was beautiful and immaculate. The ceramic and glass wares were delicate and elegant. Overall, the food was fine. Special mentions included the Chawanmushi and Somen noodles. None of the food were substandard yet at the same time, no dish really stood out. A core attraction of these fine-dining institutions is the careful cultivation of signature dishes that represented the philosophy of the culinary arts of both the chef and the restaurant. With Oncore, there was a beautiful floral motif with their signature kingfish, core apple dessert, and lamb. With Quay, there was a stronger emphasis on their unique take on seafood. Perhaps being a relatively new restaurant, Oborozuki s core identity has not yet been truly established. Despite the claim on the menu that each dish is a unique reflection of its time and place, little explanations or stories were made during the serving of each dish. Furthermore, there was no one true dish that would allow me a full association with Oborozuki unlike the other restaurants of this tier. (E.g. Tetsuya s confit of Ocean Trout, Oncore s Kingfish, Gidley s Spinalis etc) In terms of the environment, the interior design was aesthetically pleasing. However, despite the restaurant being at the harbour of Circular quay, both the view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera house were obscured. Being located at the new residential building next to the train station and wharf, both structures were just beyond the peripheral vision of the restaurant. Staff were polite but one could tell that they were inexperienced. The waitress who looked after our table could only provide the name of each dish served, without any extra information or backstory to the dishes Hence, although the food was nice, I really could not justify giving this restaurant a higher score solely due to its price point. *As of March 2023

December 23, 2023

We spent $1100 on our dinner (including 2 bottles of wine) The art of fine dining is for each dish to taste absolutely delicious and leave you wanting more. Unfortunately this was not the case. Although the menu is carefully crafted, there are only a few dishes out of 11 courses that stand out. The sea urchin and the abalone for me.. We were served a cold soup dish and it tasted exactly like creamed corn from a can. Quite a lot of the dishes felt like they were prepared and didn t have the freshness you would expect from paying $380 pp. The Lobster had been sitting, either under heat or prepared too early and it came out dry on the outside. The serving size is generous for 11 courses and it would benefit the chefs to decrease servings sizes so the final courses can be enjoyed. The service is good. The venue is stunning. The price is comparable to Quay and for the price I would expect the head chef to serve a dish, say hello, speak about the food and what makes it so special. A little bit of history about the foundations of the menu and the chef go a long way in high priced fine dining restaurants. My opinion is if you are charging a high price and lining yourself up with restaurants like Tetsuyas and Quay, then menu needs to be at that level also. It was not what you would expect for the price we payed.

The Chef does a fantastic job. There is a subtle fusion of predominately Japanese flavors and textures with a hint of western ingredients. The service was impeccable, and the kagami was incredibly beautiful. I have dined at many Japanese restaurants, including in Japan, and this has become my favorite.

They serve a 9 course menu containing authentic Japanese cuisine with some modern twists. Every guest is served at the same time which is a really neat concept. The Food was uniquely presented and delicious. Service was impeccable. This was the best dining experience I have ever had. We will be returning for future months menu. Be aware its Japanese cuisine not Japanese-Australian cuisine. They require reservation, we saw them turn 5 people away and focus on the current customers, explaining every single dish that they served. Amazing.

I had my first Kaiseiki dinner experience at Oborozuki. Kaiseiki dinner is an elaborate, multicourse dinner originating in Japan. Often reflecting the seasons, the dinner features an array of delicately prepared dishes with seasonal ingredients. It was an incredible experience, with each course carefully curated and featuring seasonal ingredients. The dishes are satisfying and yummy as well as the presentation.

The food was made with respect to perfection. Everything looks and tastes like the ingredients were carefully selected. They try to use the seasonal ingredients to bring the best flavor of the entire dish. Its not only a pleasure for your pallet, but also a joy to your eyes. We were also impressed by how tasty their sake was. Plus, the employees have always been very professional and nice.

This is the most overrated and underwhelming Japanese experience in Australia . I don t mind paying for a good dining experience but this was so overpriced . The food was mediocre at best. Will never come back here again . There are so many better Japanese restaurants in sydney .

A beautiful and refined restaurant. One of the finer places in Sydney at the moment. Truly worth visiting. Wine list and service were top notch. A tiny suggestion Id like to mention is, can you get rid of the plastic grass decoration on your sushi dish? It does not go with the look of the restaurant nor degustation meal. Also the egg omelette is rather boring, I could get that any where. The best dishes for me were the tofu soup and toothfish - incredible flavours! I would love to return again

Went to Oborozuki last night to celebrate a friends birthday and the everything was a 5/5. The atmosphere felt intimate, the food was amazing but it was our waiter Simon as well as the manager that truly made the experience so special. Simon had such a friendly and sweet energy, was very knowledgeable of the food and drinks being served, and the manager was very kind to provide us with such personalised drink suggestions. We had a lovely time chatting with the both of them throughout the night, and will definitely be returning because of the service. The new spring a la carte menu was such a delightful experience; highly recommend the ama ebi and lobster. :)

A most satisfying dining experience in all aspects. Beautiful, delicious food, stunningly presented, served by amiable, smiling attentive staff, enhanced by a very knowledgeable sommelier who excellently paired wined and sakes to match our food selections. The evening was made even more enjoyable by the elegant & tasteful, yet understated decor and lighting. It was a breath of fresh air to have good distancing between tables so different parties are not sitting on top of each other listening to each others conversations! I highly recommend Oborozuki and will definitely go back

I attended the soft opening last week and had the best Kaiseki fine dining experience ever! The interiors of this place is insane topping up with Sydney harbour views! The 10 course menu was impressive with my personal favourites - Ozaki Wagyu Ribeye, grilled fish, oysters and for those who can t leave a restaurant without a dessert - Matcha ice cream with mochi is a must and to die for. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable; they also have a Louise Vuitton suitcase where you can pick your own hand made glass for saké to make this experience super special, personalised and unforgettable! Highly recommend for anyone who s craving a fancy night out with the finest choices of food Sydney has to offer

The Kaiseki set menu includes 10 small dishes. The food is delicate and the atmosphere is relax. Services needs to be improved a little bit more at such fine dining level. The waitress touched my chopsticks when serving the dish. And no one showed the exit (different from entrance)after we paid the bill. $800+ for2pp.

Last night I had the 10 course kaiseki at Oborozuki for the first time and I can NOT stop thinking about just how outstanding, meticulous, delicate and beautiful every single course was. WOW. The standouts for me included the steamed dish (chawanmushi, black truffle, sea urchin) which was a silky but complex umami flavour The seasonal sashimi had 7 different sashimi selections, each with their own unique texture and taste. It took me on a journey of fresh to rich. But the grilled dish was EVERYONES favourite and the star of the night. That ozaki A5 rib-eye just completely melted in the mouth. It was so marbled and the taste was simply addictive. The highest grade of wagyu prepared so perfectly. My goodness. Its very rare that I think course deserved all 5/5 stars but this was definitely it. I would 100000% recommend this restaurant for a decadent dinner. The presentation of the food and the view is just a plus.

I wasn t sure upon booking this new restaurant but I went trying anyway. As a Japanese food lover, I am sorry to say this is not authentic although pretty presentation. However, a copycat would never worth and never be the original. It s really disappointing to see they imitate someone s work and style while they supposed to create their own. They should do better I hope, and I wish they would. Price point is on a high side so the expectation is high but the experience was otherwise. Beautiful ambience though.

This restaurant backed by Tiffany the manager with great staff Mariia and David our waiter on the night is an extreme Japanese dining experience of the highest OF HIGH standards. Everything was attention to detail from the Sake glasses to the highest grade Wagu on the planet..and the drinks menu. The Teppanyaki master chef was Brilliant and although you need to have plenty of $$$$$$ for this experience it is in my opinion worth every cent ...The lobster and Wagu were my favourites.... Thankyou Tiffany and Team Oborozuki

December 23, 2022

The restaurant ambience is nice and decorated with beautiful décor. The food was not bad but was not outstanding. Service needs some improvement particularly when they seem to pride themselves a five star s standard. What really disappointing and reason to give one star was the imitation they copy from other famous chef. With the price they charge, they should have created their own signature dish rather than being a copycat. Their food presentation is good but there s lacking on the overall quality and tastes. Hopefully, they would stop being a copycat and creating something worthwhile for customers to enjoy and remember the experience that uniquely be from Oborozuki.

This is not a fine dining restaurant. They try to push you to buy alcohol. Team not professional. Last drinks at 10pm... All round terrible experience. Email said min spend was 450 a head...but for teppanyaki its 2k per room. Their solution buy more booze and take it home or leave it here and come back. 3 separate people tried to come in and push us to buy more booze...ever heard of RSA? Made us feel increasingly uncomfortable through the night. It was all about their policy.. Not about the customer. Fast food chains has policies because they hire kids. This place wasnt far off. Note Chef was a great guy.

For a restaurant that markets itself as a fine dining experience, nothing can be further from the truth. The meal, noting the level of service and fine details of the ingredients, should only be worth half the price per person. It s very obvious that they do everything to reduce costs for the sake of appearances - super inexperienced waiters and waitresses, who not only mumble unintelligible explanations, do not know the background and history of their ingredients other than the most superficial details, are also not very responsive. They do not check as to whether your tea needs refilling and come across as unhappy when you ask for your tea cup to be refilled (maybe because we weren t drinking alcohol). There are also waiters that just stand there. The seafood ingredients, whilst are good quality, is wasted by the way they prepare the dishes - eg. The oyster is still just in the end of coming out of the freezer, hence, they do not get the temperature right on the inner part of the oyster or sashimi dishes. There are no nigiri pieces either. They prepare a cheap crabmeat rice to fill you up, but obviously miss the hard work of preparing the rice in crab broth, hence the rice has only a plain flavour rather than have crab broth infused into the rice. It s also the first time, after eating at many of the top Kaiseki restaurants in Sydney and around the world that they charge for green tea. I doubt this place will last more than a year without some significant changes. Very obvious the owner is just trying to capitalise on a great location with the target segment that aren t picky or too experienced with high quality Japanese dining standards.
