Dine on classic French fare at our homage to the quintessential brasserie.
Dec 2024 update : Food was delicious, great interaction with Sommelier to pick a bottle of wine for our food. Steak was delicious need better seasoning or topper, just wish menu had better side options. I would call it what it is, 1Kg Rib Eye on the menu is a tomahawk! Creme brulee was absolutely delicious! Wine selection, at least for red it's a bit out of reach, only one page of wine under 200 about 10 bottles of Pinot Noir, not talking about gross stuff like blend or Shiraz no wonder only 1-2 other table had a bottle ordered, white was more practical. For check for 2 about $450 good dinner. Dec 2023 Review: Food and service was amazing! Henry was our server, enjoyed the food. Creme brulee pour a bit of dark liquor(brandy, congc, even scotch) on it and torch it, gives it better temperature and flavor! Will be back to try the octopus.
Food is so so, my trout was soaked with olive oil, the lamb is soaked with gravy which spoiled the taste of the lamb. Don’t expect service or friendliness here: The manager who seated us, sat with a groups of women instead of coming back to offer water refill or dessert. The waitress who collected our dishes didn’t offer the dessert menu. I am not sure if I would like to recommend this restaurant.
Great food, great vibe, great service. We celebrated our anniversary earlier this year here and came back to celebrate my partner’s birthday 2 weeks ago. Definitely will come back again in the future :)
The steak was huge and very well cooked. Food prices are reasonable giving the location and atmosphere, beautifully designed restaurant. Wine is a bit expensive tho ($33/glass). Fit for a fun and fancy but not too serious and formal date, as the restaurant is pretty laid back and noisy.
Hidden away off George st behind Tottis. Visiting from UK to see family and my son booked this for 5:30 on Wednesday. Was quiet when got there and buzzing and busy an hour later. Staff were polite and attentive to our needs. Food all good. More than we we pay normally but worth it.
One of my fave French restaurants in Sydney, the entrees were so good! The chicken liver pate was not gamey and so smooth, with the addition of the sweet jam and pickles it was my favourite dish of the night. The scallops and prawns was so fresh and cooked so nicely and the steak was well seasoned, tender and pink on the inside.
Old style charm. Everything we ate was amazing 👏 The steak and fish of the day was cooked to perfection but the Mango soufle with mango ice cream was hands down the best dish I've had in a long time. It was like eating cloudy pillows of mango Service was faultless. So attentive. 💯
The overall experience was absolutely delightful. The food was truly exceptional - each dish was beautifully prepared and bursting with flavor. The ambience of the restaurant was both classy and elegant, creating a truly beautiful dining atmosphere. The staff were not only well-trained but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, providing excellent recommendations and ensuring that every aspect of our meal was perfect. The selection of wines was extensive and impressive, adding to the overall enjoyment of the evening. Every single dish we tried was simply amazing, and we are already looking forward to returning to this fantastic venue
French restaurant with Australian size meal But still so delicious
Its what you would expect of a chic city restaurant. However l say this without any disrespect to this wonderful establishment the food whilst not dissapointing was below par. Believing you are 5 star is only part of it.
Am I french now?
I had my birthday lunch with my girlfriends here a couple weeks ago. Food was good, vibe was good as I remember from previous visits. However, very disappointed due to the very poor service. First, I was rushed and asked 4 times if we were ready to order, I thought I made it very clear that I would let the waitress know when I m ready the second time I was asked. She was obviously very impatient and not having her best day. Second, every dish I ordered, she would make a rude comment about how small the portion is, it wouldn t be enough for my group. Am I only allowed to order the most expensive seafood platter as she recommended? Third, cocktails arrived 35 minutes after we ordered, understood its busy weekend lunch time, but that seemed a bit too slow. Fourth, she misheard one side dish of carrots and ordered us couscous instead. Ordinarily I would ve been completely fine as it could just been a simple mistake. When the couscous was served and I asked what is this dish? She said it in the rudest possible manner this comes with the duck , so we all looked at each other and thought ok maybe the carrots will arrive later, but it never did. When I was asked to put a number on the machine for tips, I got the first smile from her of that day.
Great food duck was delicious! Not that keen on mango soufflé
Great Food, But Quite Noisy I had a great dining experience at Felix! The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. However, the noise level was much higher than I expected, which made it a bit hard to fully enjoy the atmosphere. Despite that, the quality of the meal and overall service were fantastic. I d recommend it for the food, but it might not be ideal if you re looking for a quieter dining experience.
Being here twice , first time was a great experience. With good food and service but then a couple of weeks ago we come back with my partner and left disappointed due of drop on quality of the food , had to sent back our Duck coz it was really salty and couldn t have it because it takes 45 mins to get it back so we swap for steak ( which was good , but not what we wanted at first ) also they are not doing anymore tartare at the table. Good service and attentive , but still not enough.
I had a disappointing experience at Félix this time, especially since I had visited two years ago and had a much better time. The problems started right away when I had to ask for water three times before it arrived, and it came after the appetizers, which was not ideal. The beef tartare used to be a highlight of the meal, made at the table, but now they serve it already mixed. For the main course, we ordered the duck, which I remember being presented beautifully presented at the table, then be back to the kitchen to cut it and return it, but this time was just dropped already cut and it was over-salted and almost inedible. After waiting 50 minutes, we had to send it back. We chose a steak as a last minute option, hoping it would be a quick fix, but it didn t impress. On the positive side, the sides were very good. Overall, it was a frustrating experience, and I was really disappointed compared to my previous visit.
Food was a bit disappointing for such a well credentialed place . Group of 4 for dinner . The Steak tartare entree had far too much acidity , overwhelmed the dish . Fish for mains were quite good . My friends wife had the lamb chops , she couldnt eat them , tough and lot of fat left on . Manager apologised and didnt charge . Wine way over priced . Wouldnt return.
Great French feel and ambience. Great service and brilliant wine list.
A wonderful experience and ambience. Certainly worth the experience and looking forward to going back again soon.
Tasty food, very kind and knowledgeable service from Hendra. Do recommend!
Ate at Felix 26 July in evening and though food was nice, the experience for all four of us was horrific. The service was terrible with waiters absent and inattentive and when physically present at our table, the waiters were ineffective and absentminded. Our chairs got bumped by waiters passing behind us numerous times as they were rushing around. It was annoying! There was an atmosphere of chaos and confusion as the waiters would rush around with an air and look of busyness though what they were busy with was not clear because they were not carrying food, plates or drinks. The two headwaiters were standing around chatting for long periods of time - ignorant of the disasterous service. Despite complaining to our waiters, nothing changed. Other tables around us also struggled with getting the attention of the waiters. We wont be going back anytime soon. The service in the bar area was good though.
Booked at 645pm on a Saturday. Service good. Food good. Beautiful room ambiance destroyed by constant loud music and noise of passing people from the lane way that runs alongside of the restaurant. Buzzing is nice.. this was not. Maybe quieter in back of restaurant or avoid weekends.
Went here recently with my friends and had a wonderful experience.
Not just my favourite French restaurant but also my fav in Sydney. Menu is always amazing, staff are lovely, amazing atmosphere, beautiful selection of wines and bespoke cocktails. I treat myself to Felix every year for my birthday plus any other major celebration. If i could give more stars I would!
Very nice! Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian option. I had mushroom soup (not sure it was vegetarian), very yummy, and vegetables filled with wild rice, very yummy! Parking: This is a restaurant in a tiny inner city street, where people walk. For parking you need to find parking places in the city. Much cheaper is to use public transport and walk. It is close to Wynyard train, bus and light rail (tram) station. Kid-friendliness: It is mostly business people in the city that use this fancy restaurant.
absolute lovely dinner
Mixed reviews- went here with my mother after the theatre. Good service from waitresses and nice environment. We had prawns and very shortly after eating them my mother was suddenly violently sick- she was fine beforehand. She then was sick multiple times in the bathrooms (and into the night at home). The manager Michelle was dismissive and ultimately very rude - taking down 0 information or record from us and saying it wasn t the food and clearly her. Unfortunately we ve all had a dodgy prawn before and this was certainly that. Perhaps left too long on the ice display I suspect. We left swiftly without finishing our food or drinks and paying the full bill for the food poisoning privilege. Suggestion to management- it s not about the payment of the food- we didn t come for a free meal. Regardless of your opinion of a customers medical state you should be taking it seriously to ensure you don t get another case from the same batch- basic food safety. A kinder more caring approach wouldn t go a miss either. Won t be returning- perhaps if you re coming here and can t afford a day off stick to meat and veg based plates.
Came with my daughter post theatre, arriving in evening. We only wanted something light so ordered prawns ( entree size ) with 3 side dishes of salad , zucchini and fries .. all to share. I had one prawn and a selection of the sides. Within a short space of time my stomach started to feel uncomfortable and after around 20 minutes I had to rush to the bathroom where I was profusely sick. We told the manager that I had been sick and likely to be the food, probably the prawn. He dismissed this as impossible after such a short time. I was sick again and when I returned to the table we were brought the bill, paid and left. The manager gave me his card with a telephone number ... for what ? He never took my details. When I got home I was sick a number of times and by the morning I had stopped. To say this was not a reaction to some off food is absolute nonsense. I am fit and well, have no allergies and felt perfectly fine before I arrived that eve. We had not been drinking before nor eaten. We are not demanding and dont expect free food , but some recognition of the fact that I was served food ( probably one very off prawn ) that resulted in a serious stomach upset and ruined the evening, would have been right and correct behaviour. Reducing the bill might have helped take the edge off it, but denying my stomach upset was the fault of the restaurant is disgraceful. Of course we wont go back, that goes without saying. What I cannot understand is that it seems , from the reviews Ive since read, that the management do not respond to any of them, good or bad. Poor show.
Visited again last night, the pate and steak tartare were great starters to share, the John Dory was a spectacular main made more special by the broth. Dont leave a drop, even if you need to ask for a spoon. Compliments to the chef. Leave some space for dessert, the souffle was perfect. Delicious food all round. Buzzing with diners and those just popping in for a drink. Service is personal and attentive. Thanks for a great evening.
Phenomenal food, beautifully cooked and so delicious. Thank you.
Beetroot salad entree very little taste. Main of 1 kg rib eye on bone was cooked perfectly. Side of cauliflower in butter was too generous in the butter and wasn t popular . A delicious dessert for two of Tarte Tartin would be perfect for 4. Service was at a very average cafe quality, no follow up on how the meals were etc.
I had the pleasure of going to felix a few nights ago and thought it was exceptional. I regularly dine out but never get greeted so well by the host as Hayley did. This truly made Felix go to the next level for me. The food was also delicious. I will be returning
This is my second visit to this restaurant. The roast duck is really amazing, and the beef tartare is very delicious. My family and I had a wonderful dinner together!
We had a great experience. The food was excellent, but the service was above and beyond. Folks in our party had allergies, and one of the servers took time to go beg a small ramekin of plain mayo because they only had premade flavored mayo. Within 30 seconds of my drink being empty, I was offered another. The servers obviously work as a team, backing each other up so that they can be everywhere at once.
Wow this place has slipped . beef tartar is no longer deconstructed, and the service is extremely haphazard. Multiple people coming to serve the various stages of your evening, and infrequently. Staff very lacklustre and the patrons within the restaurant are extremely unrefined. Get me back to the eastern suburbs!
Really enjoyable experience. Super fresh seafood, the cote de bouef was perfectly cooked and great flavour. Excellent wine list is massive with a great selection off the corovin. We ate on the Saturday night and the venue was heaving busy which put pressure on the kitchen and service staff. Unfortunately it has was a bit longer wait for entrees than I would expect the quality was faultless. I look forward to dinning at Felix again midweek when the restaurant is a little quieter.
A genuinely unique place with beautiful food, efficient service, AND it doesnt cost a fortune
Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free options Food
Might be the best restaurant in Sydney; service is exceptional every time, and the food is even better.
Beef cooked perfectly, tender and juicy. Liver pate is very creamy and smooth. Service is friendly and attentive Recommended dishes Steak
Excellent food and service, nice French - Australian touch. Perhaps a bit loud, but still 5 solid stars.
I had an absolutely terrible experience at this restaurant. The staff member, who seemed to have a French accent, made it incredibly hard for us to understand him due to his unclear pronunciation. While it s true that we struggled a bit with the listening, his attitude was what really stood out. He smirked and rolled his eyes, making it clear he was mocking us. To make things worse, we were seated at the worst table in the house, right next to the door. For some reason, we were treated differently from other guests. When we asked for sparkling water, he just plopped the bottle on the table and walked away, while other tables were regularly checked on and served properly with their glasses refilled. The most infuriating part was when we left. He sarcastically said ThAnK YoU, ThAnK YoU! in this mocking tone, pretending to be playful but clearly trying to be rude. This was, without a doubt, the most uncomfortable and unpleasant dining experience I ve had. It felt like we were being singled out for no reason other than who we are. Would not recommend this place at all.
Amazing food, service and atmosphere. The minute steak was amazing, as was the crème brûlée. 10/10. Will definitely be back.
My Favourites: Coquille saint-jacques (scallops) and the wagyu steak frites
Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was good!
It s quite disgusting when you come for a nice dinner and pay a premium price and the place is just filled with high end escorts. Nearly everyone in the restaurant. And yes, I heard them talking in the bathroom about it. So there s no speculation to it. Nice food, never coming back though. Thanks.
Very delicious French cuisine. Highly recommend these two
After a lovely meal and beautiful service tonight we were very rudely informed by the female Maître d that we needed to vacate the table just after desert had been served. At this point we had been seated for just on 2 hours and had dropped almost $700 on a birthday dinner for four. Felix had impressed us with a lovely evening and had even provided a complementary birthday desert but then ruined the evening. My wife was completely mortified and the table left confused, insulted and enraged at what had just transpired. My wife swore on the spot that she would never return to Felix and then we were left waiting trying to get the bill and feeling completely unwelcome and unwanted. For context we have been coming here for almost every special family celebration for the last 10 years. The food was lovely and the service other than that from the female Maître d was excellent. It s very sad when a single staff members actions and attitude can literally destroy such a special day but the utter contempt, distain and disrespect that we were treated with has left us no choice but to vow never to return to Felix and end our family tradition of celebrating here.
Fabulous as always, Benoit was fantastic! Merci!
Loved the atmosphere and the service we went for dessert so I need to try the food next time! What we ordered was very nice but if youre a super chocolate person it might not be your best option.
We had the snapper tartare, prawns, pate for entrees - tartare and pate was excellent. Steak frites for lunch, also very tasty and really impressed how they made so many for us at the same time! Great service, classy venue and excellent food, would definitely come back.
Absolutely sensational! Service was attentive, friendly and fun. Wine list by the glass and bottle excellent. The food was perfect, absolutely excelled in flavour, quality and taste. The restaurant is beautifully furnished bistro style. Cannot wait to go back. Steak tartare made at the table is a winner, the chicken liver parfait one of the best I have ever had. Steak frites main perfection.
Very good food, good location. I think is very nice to go once in a while Need to make reservation for dinner hours Food : 5/5
If you are French don t go there. So overrated for what you get.. unfortunately I will not come back. But thanks for the lovely lady who were our waitress, she was very nice !
Felix was buzzing last night, such a great vibe. We were heading to the theatre afterwards and were in and out in an hour. Oysters were delicious, pate was so so and our minute steaks were perfect. Yes, its $$$ but our waitress Jo really looked after us so a big thank you to her!
Nice and cosy. Onion soup tastes pretty good but was quite salty.
There are Korean staff and they are friendly :) The atmosphere was nice and delicious
Excellence in French fine dining right in Angel place. Impeccable friendly service, lovely atmosphere, fast and friendly service. Lots of office people have found the best kept secret in Sydney! Comfy Indoor and outdoor seating. Not the cheapest, but nothing good is cheap. Very nice tempting menu. The Filet Mignon is absolutely divine- melt in your mouth and the souffle reminds me of the original movie Sabrina with Audrey Hepburn!
Fantastic experience, will return
Delicious perfectly cooked steaks. Beautiful restaurant, lovely staff.
The food at Felix was absolutely amazing. The tartare was so delicious and I would go back just for that. The scallop was so buttery and the french onion soup was extremely comforting. The steak frites were exceptional and the steak was perfectly good to medium rare. To top it all off, our server Benoit was checking up on everything at exactly the right time and provided us with great assistance throughout the night.
Utterly disappointed. This is the second time I have been to Felix. The first time I went, it was with my partner to celebrate his birthday and I have to say that honestly, the duck breast was immaculate so much so that I decided to bring my mum to try it when she was in town to visit me. However, this time was a huge and complete disappointment, we ordered mostly the sames dishes, and of course the duck breast that I had been raving to my mum about, telling her that it was perfect and amazing and she would never taste a better one. Was I in for a huge disappointment..... When it came, the dressing was different and bitter and the duck breast was dried and overcooked, nothing like what i had with my partner 6 months ago in November 2023, so much so that we took it upon ourselves to inform the server to which he said he will inform the chef. However, no one came and explained to us or apologised to us about this. I understand that people have different tastes in food, but this wasnt a matter of seasoning or taste, I daresay it was a matter of quality and handling/seasoning of the ingredients and meat itself.
Fantastic walk in dining experience with my friends. Food was exceptional as was the service. Well done to the chef team and floor staff.
It was my birthday on June 30, so I came here specially to have dinner. Danny, the waiter, is Taiwanese like us! very kind I must highly recommend him! Boss, please give him a raise! He is very serious and attentive to customer service and food introduction. Thanks to him for allowing us to enjoy an enjoyable and unforgettable birthday meal! Thanks! (The birthday dessert was also very delicious!!) Thanks Danny! Hope you have seen our message! Wish you good health and safety! Good work~~
The food was great, and the staff were super friendly and helpful.
We went for a birthday dinner. It was really delicious. Our waitress Jonathan provided a good service same level as we could find in France. I do recommend this french bistro as it feels back to Paris.
Update December 2023 The lane Felix is in has been covered and decorated with Christmas lights. The lane has a real buzz and is enchanting. The service, food and wine excellent. The special of champagne and salmon roe tarts is good. We always have a good time at the restaurant. We have been here a lot, as a couple and with friends. This French restaurant has it all. Food, service and location all excellent. The wine choice is extensive and the cocktails delicious! Best to go to in the warmer weather where you can get the full benefit of its inside/outside dining options. Its a good choice for a date, ask for a table overlooking the lane which is still undercover. If you are with a group of friends plenty of options from inside to the outside lane dining. It is a special spot for Christmas time as the lane is beautifully adorned with a tree and lights, magical! We have also been there for an anniversary mid week and it didnt disappoint. Highly recommended Love from your local guide-M Vegetarian options: Available on the menu Parking: Train to wynard or taxi best Kid-friendliness: Not for young kids good experience for 14 + get them use to the good life! Wheelchair accessibility: Yes tables outside restaurant in lane There is currently a structure over tables so rain proof
Old worldly charm, a buzzing vibe and excellent French fare!
We had the most fantastic time last night! As a group of friends from work, we headed to Felix for an unforgettable meal. Service was flawless, the ambience was unrivalled and the food was- unparalleled! We shared all of our dishes and couldn t fault a single one - sensational!
Tres Superbe .! The Steak Frites and the Minute Steak with Lyonnais Potatoes are truly delicious dishes. Just the right portions and beautifully aged, cut, cooked, presented and served. Truly fantastic quality and very well priced too. This restaurant is worth multiple visits as I have done this working week in Sydney. I will certainly visit again.
We keep going back to Felix only to sit at the bar and enjoy the same delicious cocktails and the exquisite steak tartare. Sadly they have changed the bread recently - which is not as good as the old one they used to serve. Hoping that this review help them to bring the old bread back :)
Very nice french restaurant in Sydney, great cocktails and had an amazing wagyu steak in red wine sauce, a but pricey but totally worth the experience! Steak was cooked to perfection
I had really high expectations of this place but the food was quite disappointing. The best dish was the tartare where they mix all of the ingredients in front of you but the steak and pastry dish we had was quite salty.
Great French Bistro in the heart of Sydney CBD. Seamless service. Beautiful food. The chicken terrine with bread is ethereal. Only negative for me were the chips Highly recommend 5 Stars
A divine experience ...it was the closest thing to Paris in Sydney! The food, service and atmosphere was excellent!
Pre-dinner drinks - great service and atmosphere!
Superb great service
A decent old-fashioned French restaurant in Sydney. It focuses on a sense of atmosphere. The French fries and Crème Brûlée are good.
A fantastic experience! As a starter, we tasted a delicious beef tartare prepared in front of us to our liking, a rib of beef reminiscent of a typically French meal that was just DELICIOUS and fries to die for. The most important point is the service!!! An incredible French team, with attentive service from Jo and wise advice from Agathe, a fantastic sommelier. Thank you a thousand times
Very nice French restaurant, one of the best in Sydney and good value for money. Both the steak frites and the half chicken were up there - both in taste and freshness. Very nice deserts - both the soufflé and the chocolate mousse were excellent. Great attentive service and very nice atmosphere. Highly recommended
In anticipation of a visit to Sydney for a birthday celebration, my research for a suitable special dining experience led me to Felix and we were so glad it did. Felix has a really positive vibe which is reflected in the friendly but informed and efficient staff. The atmosphere and decor is stunning, while the wonderful French menu contains some amazing dishes. We couldn t have wished for better and would heartily recommend Felix, especially for a special occasion.
Nice wine or cocktails place.
My favorite was Tartare de boeuf and Steak and dessert:) the atmosphere was very nice
Have been once before and it s a delightful experience to revisit this restaurant again. The staff are charming, food is of good quality. Although the service was perhaps a bit on the slow side. Good selection of drinks available.
Exceptional steak and frites
Pierre an mailis gave the most exceptional service I ve ever received, 10/10 would reckon!
Pierre & Mailis gave me the best experience fr thank you
Food and service were good. Disappointed to be seated near the bar when we d reserved a table two weeks in advance. Overall noise level made conversation difficult. Wine markup was excessive. That said food was good if a little overpriced. Dietary restrictions: Accommodated well
Amazing service and ambience! And the food definitely satisfies the taste buds
Have been before and enjoyed the food. Went on Friday night and had one of the worst mealsI have had out in a long time, rubbery over salted fish, it was not pleasant. Unfortunately, the waiter did not notice that most of my meal was left uneaten on my plate. Sorry Felix, I have loved you before, but you have lost me now.
Came for a graduation dinner and they gave us a free dessert :)
Absolutely amazing place! Bravo! The atmosphere is reminiscent of 1920s France : classy, chic and elegant. Perfect for a date night! The menu had plenty of options, including my favourite: beef tartare, which was fresh and delicious! The staff were French, adding to the full French experience. Very friendly and helpful too! And a great wine selection! Recommend 100% and will definitely be back!
Excellent Service, very quick and attentive. Came for the famous duck but the steak really shocked me since it was better than steak specialty restaurants in CBD area. Atmosphere was also very nice, tiles and wood surrounding went perfectly with the establishment. Bit noisy but not too much that it interfered with having conversation. Price is very reasonable for the quality of food they provide. Deserts are highly recommended if you like rich taste. I never left any google reviews on any restaurants but this one deserves a praise. Exceeded my expectations, had lovely time.
You don t have to go France to have a french dining experience! Just go to Felix!!! I had a Ten experience!
Great manager & staff ...
I am reticent to rate this restaurant highly as I don t want anyone else to discover it as I want to make sure the next 1000 times I eat there I get a table. Put simply there are so many restaurants in Sydney, bars, clubs etc. I ve eaten at so many particularly because of my work sees that aspect a regular activity. A lot of them are nice, some of them are beautiful. This one is however special. I truly felt like a guest in a film set or that Id been transported to France. Every aspect was perfect. Decor, layout, lighting, ambience, staff, range of food and drink, sounds, smells etc. They have just got this right. Now added to this. I m great in the kitchen. Many say I should open a restaurant. I often eat out even at expensive places and my wife will say your steaks better etc etc. I feel same. Some places you ll pay $30-$50 for a main meal and think that was made by a finance major on student visas.. Not this place. I am absolutely sure they have an excellent head chef and real pros. Put simply the Chicken and the Brocollini side were the nicest versions of that I ve even had and the flavour of the mix in the Brocollini whatever they did is the nicest flavour I have ever tasted. Now don t get me wrong it was a decent fee to eat there but it was 5 star. My wife is absolutely gushing today on how special she felt there. Restaurant was full but service was perfect. We grabbed the table number we want and are booking for my birthday.
This is a nice French-inspired Sydney restaurant and bar. Theres plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area is a sheltered alley with a few eateries. It was hard to know which outdoor seats belonged to the bar.
Very average for the price, Im broaderline disappointed. Food was way too salty, services quite average. Setting too closely together with the next table which made us very uncomfortable. Dont get the onion soup, its like drinking saltwater. Duck was ok, fries was cold and not crispy. Zucchini, beef tartare were pretty good, but still too salty. Not a very good experience.
Beautifully adorned with friendly and attentive service. especially enjoyed the duck pithivier and carrots. Oysters are fresh and delicious. Recommend for date night Check out my food Instagram @erinxeats for more!
Arrived without a booking and they easily fitted us in which was very good. Chicken was overcooked sadly but the wood fired vegetables were incredible. Complimentary bread arrived and halfway through eating it our mains arrived. A little too quickly. The restaurant was busy but not full so wasn t sure why our food was served so quickly. Service was excellent.
Food was was very good but service not great . Sommelier was just trying to sell you the most expensive wines and rather pushy and service staff not very enthusiastic.
Not many places where the service is this good these days, especially in a big restaurant like this one. Food is also great of course. Can see why it s so popular day in day out.
Good service and wait staff. Food was horrendously overpriced. Started with the mademoiselle felix cocktail - good but a little sweet and the king prawns. Prawns were very nice, but tbh nothing I didnt feel I could cook at home. Ordered the steak frites main (an mbs 6-7 wagyu sirloin). Hugely disappointing. No wagyu melt in mouth sensation, no striations of fat when you cut through it. One of the leanest steaks Ive ever eaten. What I was served was not wagyu. Sides were nice, but a little ordinary, the smoked almonds in the broccoli was probably the highlight. Carrots a reasonable choice too. Vinaigrette on the salad was a little light on to cut through the jus from the mains. Desserts were good, but huge - the non sharing ones are mostly shareable sizes. Comprehensive wine list, but steep. Restaurant is very loud. A place to be seen but not a place to go for a top class meal. Not somewhere I would go again. Overall a disappointing culinary experience.
The entree was amazing, pate was smooth texture and rich. Main was very good. Steak perfectly cooked. I love duck but maybe dry age duck is not my style. Dessert was very good. I like creme brulee here. Overall nice experience
The restaurant you must to go ! The chicken liver very smooth with the pickles is awesome! The waygu steak $95 really very tender and good , with the sauce is fantastic! The roasted duck is great, but I felt the gravy is a little bit too rich ! Food : 5/5 |
Great space, great staff, amazing food. Overall experience is a 10 out of 10z
The service was superb ! Best I have seen in Sydney for a long time. Took guests from London and it was thriving. Food was terrific duck was a but dry but given the restaurant was full it was sensational. There is a reason I have three bookings I m the next 6 weeks! Thank you also for acknowledging our birthdays!
Amazing food and atmosphere. Perfect place for romantic dinner. The sommelier was particularly fantastic.
Steak and seafood is a staple here
I fine dine once every month and this place was so good. Top 2 steak places in Sydney. The sauce for the Minute Scotch fillet was to die for. Shouldve taken some photos but had no time to mess about. My fork was in there! The staff were excellent. Amazing atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Trout was excellent too but not on same level as steak. Def coming back here again
It was our first time here didn t expect much, but wow !! Everything was superb ! Both steaks and steak tartare amazing !! Will be coming back again soon!
An excellent french experience in the centre of Sydney. A birthday and anniversary celebration (both milestones); and it was exquisite. Service is fantastic, the dishes are fabulous, and a great ambience. So why do I rate it a four (not a five)? Well, its to do with their drinks menu. Almost all restaurants in Sydney show prices by glass, then perhaps carafe, then bottle. But not Felix. It uses glass, Lrg Gls then Carafe (with mls - 150, 250, 450) shown below. But the fonts they use make it very difficult to see, so an assumption youre buying a bottle is incorrect. Oh, and the standard carafe in France is 500mls, so its hard for them to argue they are being french by selling by the carafe. A minor annoyance, but one that did sour our evening a bit.
An amazing night out
Service timings were extremely uncoordinated, entree came out in under 5 minutes however first drinks took close to 30. Waited 20 minites after mains been cleared to be offered desert menu and then another 20+ to have that order taken. Had to serve our own wine, which was well overpriced for the quality. Food just above standard gastro pub or modern cuisine restaurant with house bread being the highlight. $500 for two people
Went to Felix for my birthday celebration dinner. It was absolutely amazing with the customer service. The food was cooked to perfection. I wish the food portion can be slightly bigger.
My all time favourite and go to in Sydney. Had so many special memories here. The tartare is divine.
Went with a girl on a date. Amazing service & highly recommend!!!
Came long way from Melbourne, during our visit to Felix, arriving at 5:30 for an 8 pm reservation, the initial service was standard. We ordered two bottles of wine and sought dish recommendations from a French-accented waiter. However, disappointment arose with two identical cold appetizers and roast duck. Questioning the waiter s recommendation led to his sudden anger and inquiries about our background. Understandably upset, a friend left in frustration, reporting cultural discrimination to the manager. The manager acknowledged the issue, explaining the menus emphasis on cold dishes with an acceptable attitude. It was an unpleasant experience; prospective patrons should research the menu beforehand and carefully consider this establishment. (Image: Staff displaying unfriendly behaviour uploaded)
Excellent food with good products. I got the terrine (nice with a lot of pistachios) and the pithiviers de canard (very good and original! You don t find it in every French restaurants here). My friend got the steak frites and said it was the best of his life! A typical french bistro vibe that i really enjoyed in this alley, with some musicians playing. Almost felt in Paris ;) Attentive and friendly service by the staff, especially our French waiter who recommended some wine. I REALLY appreciated the free bread at the beginning but i wish they would give you a basket of bread instead of just one piece.
A wonderful place! The hustle and bustle, decor, crisp white linen, and waiting staff uniforms lend it a strong Parisian night out vibe. Service, food and wine also top notch. Bonus: as single diner I wasnt shoved off into some corner.
As usual, very reliable & classic. Sommelier Jackie is amazing!
Exceptional food and service, particularly the cote de boeuf. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Sydney.
Wonder why they are so popular. Ok food for top dollars.. Slow and dull service. Didnt enjoy at all. Very disappointed.
Great food great service great atmosphere
The food here is so, so, so good... everything was cooked to perfection. Staff were lovely. Decor was nice, but the music and restaurant are a bit loud. Cant be helped perhaps, as the area has a clubbing vibe and the restaurant is very busy, but be prepared if any guests are hard of hearing. Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is wheelchair accessible.
Matthew the manager is an excellent person and he served me extremely well. Jules is so good with the food he made me a big bowl of chicken and i enjoyed it so much. Taz made me so many drinks and she is beautiful and an excellent worker. Maddie is a sophisticated worker and gave me and excellent impression of felix. i will definitely be coming back here. 10/10
Have been here a number of times over the years and each time it s been a wonderful meal. The service is impeccable every staff member was very courteous to us. The steak was amazing ($270 for 660g is really expensive) but even for well done it tasted so good! Our total bill was $600 for 3 of us which is super expensive but in my opinion worth it for special occasions.
Great French Restaurant ! The steak was sensational.
Not sure how to put to words this has to be the most over hyped let down I ve ever dined at. Can t cook a steak right, bring a drink or meal out in any timely manner. Justin needs to attend and witness for himself, this is below sub par. Shocking experience.
Decent, but not amazing food.
The staff was amazing and food was also just as good.
Beautiful and very romantic French restaurant perfect for a date night, went there for valentines day dinner. Very difficult to book for special dates make sure to book well ahead (1.5-2 month ahead). Dim lighting making the space very romantic and intimate, only negative thing to comment is the tables are very close to each other, making conversations not so private between you and your partner, we had our neighbour table recommending food and wanting to socialise when we just want to keep it to ourselves that night. Decent portions and very fresh seafood. Service felt slightly rushed but considering it s a fully booked restaurant on a Valentine s Day it s acceptable. Would come back again on a less significant date.
We ate here over the weekend and it was absolutely delicious. I wish i could have given 5 stars but the dessert tart tartin was not enjoyable at all. I think something must of gone very wrong with the flavours as the waitress recommended it to us. Overall though the entrees and mains were amazing.
The food is divine, the ambience/atmosphere is amazing! Really loved this restaurant, the decor, food, everything, just fantastic. Oh and absolutely loved the visual seafood area. Looking forward to dining again soon.
Came here on Valentines day with my partner and was so glad I made the decision to book here. Definitely recommend booking in advance for special occassions thats for sure. Food: very nice variety of classic French dishes to choose from on the menu, each tasting delicious and fresh. I would definitely recommend trying the T bone steak and also try the different entres. Drinks: broad variety of wines and cocktails. What I found incredible was even when the bar staff had run out of drinks to make cocktails listed on the menu, they custom made us drinks that tasted similar to what we had chosen to order off the menu Service: very professional and polite, could not have asked for nicer staff Environment: very dark and romantic, would suggest for special occassions and maybe a date night out if youre trying to wow ypur significant other.
Brilliant night out
Amazing food.
Came in for a late night dinner, staff were amazing! Very friendly and knowledgeable made us feel very welcome. Food was great as well, highly recommend the steak tartare (which is prepared at your table) and the steak frites. Definitely be back
Lovely service, great ambience, delicious food and wine. Pricey but you get what you pay for.
Felix never disappoints, from the first moment we walked in we felt welcomed, we were party of fours so had a lot to eat. I always had my eyes on the aged duck from their menu and I am so happy that I decided to order it, I never had a yummier duck before, our waiter was absolutely fabulous, (the young French gentleman from Madagascar) he was very polite and very excited about the Tart Tatin so we had to order that too! Felix s staff knows how to make people happy, from the Steak Frites to the house Terrine everything was such a treat. 10 s across the board for everything!
We happened up Felix, while checking out the city layout on our first night in Sydney. We reserved a table for that evening. This was the night before New years Eve. i was surprised to even get a reservation. Even though Felix is an upscale restaurant, they did not have issues with our casual attire. They had no problem that my 6yo still had his cup from McDonalds, and many workers came by our table just to talk to us. That was so friendly, i loved it. The food was so good, I devoured my steak before I remembered to take a picture. The deserts were also so good, and now my 6 year old goes on about how much he loves French food. Kid-friendliness: They gave my son a coloring sheet and some color pencils, kept him entertained the entire dinner. He was so proud he kept it.
A lovely date night location and experience. Mike our waiter were attentive and professional. The food tickled our taste buds and filled our bellies. Highly recommended.
Trying to enjoy a fine dining dinner is far from possible when you have a manager abusing a staff member in front on the seafood preparation bar for almost 5-10 minutes. She either hates her job or is just ridiculously rude in her manner to the way she handled telling off a staff member carrying a plate of napkins in front of other patrons. I can only assume she is a manager or perhaps owner due to her not being in waitressing attire and the way she walked around with her eftpos machine in hand. Various floor staff we dealt with were all super delightful. However Mediocre food paired with appalling management.
Normally we love Felix and have been here between 8 and 10 times. However tonight was really disappointing we spent well over $1000 on our family dinner out but we melted we were put in an area of the restaurant where the air con was broken and it was easily 30deg+ in the area we were seated in and it just made everything less enjoyable. The wait staff did their best but why they think its acceptable to seat people in an area of the restaurant that is so incredibly hot is ridiculous. t will be a long time before we come back
Very great service from Jo, the service completes the whole experience. Great food as well, if you don t know what to order just ask for recommendations. Food : 5/5
Absolutely fantastic. Can not fault the food or the service. From beginning to end it was one of the best meals I ve had in Sydney in over 11 years I ve been here.
Everything was delicious. Had Kingfish, chicken, duck pie, mash, brulee, and the pineapple thing. Out server was a gem. My only regret is I accidentally skipped the tipping option as our server was a G.
Where do I begin!!! An excellent date venue with amazing atmosphere and outstanding guest service. We ordered the sirloin steak frites and the Fish of the Day , which was a beautifully cooked snapper, along with the gnocchi and an array of crustaceans. This is one of the best restaurants in Sydney and for good reason too. We will definitely be back soon!
It s not French. No matter what cuisine the menu is, it wasn t even good. It was so much better years ago. What happened Félix?
Went to Felix recently for my wife birthday celebration dinner and was thoroughly impressed with the exceptional service. The staff was attentive, courteous, and went above and beyond to ensure a delightful dining experience. The menu featured a diverse array of delicious dishes, and the overall ambiance added to the enjoyable evening.
Short staffed on a Saturday night. We did not receive our drinks until after the main course was on the table getting cold. It was hard to flag down the waiter to ask when our drinks would come to the table. The Grand Marnier souffle with marmalade was bitter and inedible. The chicken was good.
All aspects was very good except the food was Excellent
Entrees and mains was beautiful. They had a huge drink menu and lovely cocktails as well. I had the steak frites which was delicious and their chicken was cooked to perfection
Lovely food, great service
Selection was limited, group menu was okay.
First time at Felix and loved it! Amazing food and service! About $550 for 4 people but worth it! Dietary restrictions: Amazing seafood options for pescatarians!
Fillet Mignon is AMAZING! Service is always really attentive and friendly. Ambiance is great. Outdoor seating is a great place to people watch too.
Wonderful staff. A lot gf options
Busy French restaurant with good service.
Warm and friendly staff and ambiance.
One of the BEST restaurant experiences my partner and I have ever had! Just a standout in all areas from food, to service, to atmosphere.
One of the best wine list in Sydney, and for sure the best steak tartare in Sydney. Great environment and definitely very good if you are after a fun night with your friends or with your love ones
The 1 kg rib eye steak and beef tartare were absolutely yummy. The chicken liver paté had a very irony metallic taste that was too strong for our liking. However, we would like to specially mention the exceptional hospitality of one of your asian lady staffs (I forgot to ask for her name). She was very quick in getting us a table for 7 people. When we asked if she could help us take a group photo, she helped us take many and even chose the best angle for us. She also gave us very good food recommendations.
The crown jewel of the Merivale group.
There will be street music during lunch to add to the mood
Tasty food, good service in spite of being short staffed, just be aware that youll need to spend quite a bit of money there. The only down I found was the acoustics of the venue, which made people chatting too loud, other than that great. Food
Loved this place! Really lively vibes while still maintaining its upscale status. The steak was cooked perfectly and the staff were really attentive. Special thanks to the male Vietnamese waiter (with clear glasses), who wasn t assigned to our table, yet still took the time to check in and gave us recommendations in Vietnamese. Extensive wine selection is expected, and definitely lived up to the hype.
Sensational dinner Tuesday evening Gnocchi was the star of the show Food
I have not experienced service on this level in a long time! The team are wonderful, they are warm but professional, have an eye for detail and just want you to have a memorable and carefree time enjoying the most delicious food including table mixed steak tartare. I can t wait to go back!
The restaurant has been recommended by a friend. The location is slightly hidden from the main streets and the entry is beautiful. The restaurant is classy and well present. The Felix cocktail was wonderful. Food is beautiful and worth the money
Excellent choice for a business lunch
Great spot, amazing French food. Well worth a visit!
Nestled in the comforts of Ash Lane, in the heart of Sydney sits a classic Parisian restaurant. Close to public transportation and at the heart of the late night scene. The food was not short of exceptional. Each dish we tried just melted in our mouths. It was cooked to perfection and was so full of flavour. The wait staff were the most attentive I have ever seen. They always gave an appropriate amount of time between orders and we prompt to bring dishes and refill our drinks. Very friendly and polite. It s perfect for a romantic dinner, casual dining or a business meeting.
It was only for a short time, but it was great.
Amazing food and desert. Excellent service and Wonderful atmosphere. A perfect way to finalise our trip to Sydney. Thank you very much. Food : 5/5
Felix is a standout in Sydneys culinary scene, and Ive had the pleasure of visiting several times. Renowned for its unwavering consistency, the restaurant is set in an effortlessly chic ambiance, making it a reliable choice for those seeking consistently good dining experiences. From attentive service to well-executed classic dishes, Felix maintains a standard of excellence that patrons can depend on. For those looking for a reliably satisfying option in Sydney, Felix proves to be a testament to enduring quality in both ambiance and culinary offerings.
I had the best experience ever at Felix on 20th Nov. The steak was at the best quality I have ever experienced in Aus, and the services were great too. All the staffs were very attentive and nice, especially the lady at the front who escorted us to our seats kept giving us great services beyond our expectation. Its a shame that we didnt ask her name, but gladly we were able to say thanks to her when we left. We were travelling Sydney for 10 days and the experience at Felix was one of the most impressive one. Definitely recommending Felix for its great food and the staffs who made our travel very special :)
I recently visited this venue, and it was truly an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the stage for a delightful evening. Food and drinks were great.
It was our first time, there were 4 of us and it was our friend s birthday. We ordered some appetizers, meat and fries, unfortunately the waiter dropped the aioli pot from the tray and stained the whole table and splashed my friend s dress. A horrible situation, after that, Mikele (a man in a suit) served us in a very cordial and friendly way, he made us forget the bad time and we ended up having a nice evening. We even wanted to tip him and he refused. We thought it was an elegant gesture, we will come back just for the way he treated us.
We had ordered a lot dishes for two people and we had a great night. Food overall was delicious, especially the kingfish was outstanding. Service was good and friendly too. The restaurant is a bit noisy so that s the downside as you sometime can t hear the person across you well. I hope they will add more variety to the menu.
Thoroughly enjoyed a weekend lunch here! Food was flavourful and delicious! The beef tartare was the best I ve had in Sydney by far!
Very good French brasserie with a superb wine list. The advice from William sommelier was fabulous, we were able to blind taste delicious wines. I recommend to all wine enthusiasts
We are international foodies and impressed by this French delight. The Australian Waygu beef steak with its slightly charred finish was perfection. The steak fries were excellent, but I would have preferred something more upscale as an option in a restaurant of this caliber. The finely seasoned steak tartare appetizer was prepared tableside and was simply one of the best versions I have experienced. There was something other worldly in the way the salmon dish melted in your mouth. The Grand Marnier Souffle, equal parts tart and sweet at the same time, is worth the 20 minute wait. I reommend ordering it as soon as your main course arrives. The baguettes where rustic and authentic served with a butter we couldnt get enough of. Service was chaotic but extremely personable. The resturant is unnecessarily loud. They could easily add sound panels to control that better also the chairs werent as comfortable as they should be. There wasnt a Cote De Rhone by the glass available which I thought was silly considering the significance of the region and there are plenty of good ones available at reasonable by the glass price points. Those are more suggestions than gripes as I would highly recommend going out of your way to experience this fine French restaurant.
Every waiter and waitress seems so busy but idk what they re busy about. We were sitting there over 20 minutes and no one came to ask us what we want for drinks, and no one offered water or whatsoever. Very disappointing experience
Good food, a bit busy on weekend nights and it s a bit of a hassle having to pay upfront $100 per person for reservation. However, food is good and they have decent wine at a reasonable price, so it works out in the end.
Excellent food with good atmosphere
All of the food was perfect. Service was top notch, especially the sommelier. Expensive but didnt disappoint.
The best steak in my life. We were supposed to order a 65 dollar steak but after hearing the tempting specials we ended up getting the 270 dollar steak. Every bit was worth it!! Shout out to our waiter Maxeme who made us feel very comfortable with a kind service. He needs a raise!!
Fantastic cocktails delivered with perfectly timed service. Classic elegant decor that feels brand new and at the same time, like an old favourite.
Excellent fine dining with a classical french bistro ambience, great for a date night or catch up with colleagues. Food was amazing and they have an extensive wine list. Prices are within expectations for Sydney fine dining.
Reasonable food is not outstanding, and the room is very noisy
