This is a new kind of French revolution. Peek into a sultry pocket of Paris, set amidst Sydney’s resurgence of rollicking times. At Parlour, good taste triumphs over all. Layered in history, there’s always room for making some of your own. For cosying up, or causing a Seine. So come as you are, and settle in. Parlour roars to life for the early risers, and burns the midnight oil for a late-night rendezvous. Cafe au lait to Kir Royale. Croissants to caviar. Welcome to Parlour, Sydney’s new way to soirée.
Fantastic spot tucked away in the heart of the Sydney CBD. Went during happy hour and had their $2 oysters, escargot, beef tartare and fries. Drinks included gin and tonic with a martini. Highly recommend and great service. Toilets are accessed by going upstairs to the lobby of the hotel itself.
It has been awhile since we had such an outstanding chicken liver parfait! Not since Bentley.. and I have tried many in between! It has something special and a little grand about the place. Fresh champaigne and oysters always a plus. Tuna- eell you can see how fresh it is! And lovely balanced veef tartare. Definetly recommend to pop in! We r coming back for sure!
I had a post theatre happy hour at Parlour. The decor and food were amazing. I also appreciated watching the dynamic between the floor manager and her staff, it felt very organised, friendly and respectful. Thanks for a lovely afternoon!
Lovely vibe bar & restaurant in CBD! I love how it looks vintage interior. It's in the middle of the city but really quiet and cozy. They also have great happy hour deals(escargot, oyster,drinks-as of Nov24).
Our visit was a rollercoaster experience. We started off at an absolute high. Beautiful venue, lovely dining ambience, and great cocktails to start the evening. We were also thoroughly impressed with our entrees, but unfortunately things went downhill from there. Fifteen minutes must have gone by when we realised there was no sign of our mains. We initially didn't mind as we weren't in a rush. After what must have been another 10 minutes of waiting, we decided to ask the staff about our mains. We were told that there was only one chef in the kitchen that night and our food is on the way. It would have been another 10 minutes before our duck confit finally arrived, at which point they needed to be amazing to make up for the long wait. Unfortunately, they were average at best. I found them to be too salty, small, and not quite filling off the bone. We understand that things don't always go according to plan when running a restaurant, but we felt the situation could have been handled a lot better. We were left clueless until we decided to approach a staff (the restaurant wasn't busy and we're sure any staff could see we have been waiting for quite some time). Even after we did, we barely got an apology. Unfortunately that soured our experience and doubt we would return.
This is a five star experience, can highly recommended going during Happy Hour to enjoy some mini martini’s, charcuterie, and more! Excellent service with a beautiful vibe!
The oysters were incredibly fresh and had a lovely creamy texture. They were delicious! The escargot, served in a flavourful herb butter, was another highlight. The combination of flavours was perfect. I was thoroughly impressed with the quality and service.
Great French ambiance with a lot of fun and flair. Food was actually really good. Highly recommend the steak frites, one of the best I've had. Service, however, could be better. The waiters were super friendly, knowledgeable, and overall helpful. The maitre d, however, was somewhat rude and left us with a bad taste in our mouth (not literally, of course, as the food was delicious)
The prices are reasonable and the taste is delicious. The clerk was also very kind. Not to mention the art deco interior.
Maybe it was Christmas rush but place was short staffed. Front of house did not know menu...but service in rushed time was fab. Veg option on prixe fix dull. Ratatouile is just veg...no balance of carbs protein or veg. I would like to see the souffle in prixe fixe to give vegos better choice. The onion soup did not have enough cheese. The ice profiteroles are unique
There is a familiar theme running here. Food and atmosphere are lovely. Wait staff friendly and helpful. Huge disconnect between the order and service, looks like they are using Gowings as a dark kitchen for parlour with plates being ferried down the floors. But Parlours orders being bumped. Staff training is creating a mind the gap experience. Overall the experience doesnt match the reasonably hefty price.
Staff are great. Food is great. Drinks are great. We came for an hour or so with 2 young kids after a busy day in the city when it wasn t busy and they looked after us.
Unfortunately, our experience on Thursday 28 November was quite disappointing. We booked for 6pm and clearly stated it was a pre-theatre meal, mentioning on arrival that our show started at 7.30pm. In fact, we arrived at 5.50pm, giving ample time to dine. Despite ordering promptly, our first course didn t arrive until 6.28pm (I had taken a photo, hence I know the exact arrival time). We ate quickly, anticipating our mains would follow soon. By 6.50pm, we had to enquire about their whereabouts and cancelled our dessert order. The waiter assured us, It s coming. At 7pm, we asked again but were fobbed off with the same response. At 7.05pm, we pressed once more and were told, Less than one minute. Our mains finally arrived at 7.10pm. Adding to our frustration, we noticed other diners who arrived after us and ordered the same dishes were served well before us. We had to wolf down our meals to leave by 7.25pm and make it to the show on time. It s such a shame because the food itself was good, but we couldn t enjoy it due to the delays. A final waitress did try to apologise, but overall, we left very disappointed.
We love this restaurant and bar. Always great food, cocktails and service.
lovely cozy low sensory atmosphere, 3 out of the 5 times i ve dined in staff are rude and dismissive. maybe it s because im a young disabled person and not the demographic they re aiming for? escargots is amazing, tartare is average. there s better options for french in the cbd
Lovely classy lunch spot with dim lighting, good food and great cocktails, away from the bustling crowds. It s made my shortlist
Waited for 10 minutes only to be told that theyre only taking hotel guests. That should be more clear.
Food was good, but service wasn t the best :(.
The team at Parlour were incredible and so accommodating for my partner and my anniversary. Food, people, drinks and atmosphere incredible- best restaurant I ve been to in a long time!
We had to leave quite quickly because we had a show at the State Theatre. It would help if the staff asked if there was an event you had to go to so the food was served a bit quicker. This is not to complain, the service was great, just a bit slow.
A lovely dinner before the show. Friendly service & perfect food in the gorgeous art deco State Theatre.
Great food and atmosphere
We found it by accident on our first night in Sydney and came back again on our last night in Sydney a month later. WE LOVED IT!!
Artistic attraction and close to the shopping and entertainment precinct
Parlour gets three stars and a shrug. The menu and atmosphere delivered some initial excitement, and its location is ideal for a meal before a show at the State Theatre. However, my much-anticipated market fish arrived bereft of its promised saffron and fennel. Instead, it was a rather pedestrian affair, served with soybeans. When I pointed out that it wasn t as described on the menu, I got an apology and an offer of a free side. I chose the potato gratin, but the fish, served with the new side, arrived both cold and overcooked. The wine list, while extensive, seems to carry a price tag that suggests you might be financing a small yacht rather than enjoying a dinner before a show. On a more positive note, the duck confit was, admittedly, quite nice. The crispy skin, tender meat and red wine based sauce made it a fantastic dish. Although a classic of french bistro classic, I took solace in the fact that I sidestepped the steak frites, which appeared to consist of approximately 99% chips, an unfortunate revelation for anyone hoping for steak, or, indeed, a meal with any modicum of balance. In summary, while the ambiance is charming and the duck confit provides a fleeting glimpse of greatness, this establishment feels like an overrated French bistro that s coasting on its location and atmosphere. Not terrible, but certainly not great.
We didnt have a reservation and took a chance to walk in for dinner. Although they were really busy, they went out of their way to accommodate us. The service was fantastic, the ambience was amazing, and the food was delicious. Well definitely be back.
The service was amazing, the food and drinks were perfect and the vibe was so good!!! We will definitely be coming back!
Food was so bland I only had 2 bites. Fries tasted like macdonalds. Entre was better then main
The most delicious oysters
This restaurant transports you straight to Paris with its elegant ambiance and chic décor. The food was exquisite, with each dish beautifully presented and bursting with authentic French flavors.
Absolutely great restaurant. Everything was excellent. Made sure we werent late for our show.
What a shame, wasted opportunity to make something special set within lovely surroundings. We went for Thursday night dinner. Not at all busy. First of all gave us the breakfast menu when it was dinner time. We ordered drinks which didnt arrive. Food arrived after about 30 mins and when we told waitress that our drinks hadnt arrived she went away to check. She returned and said my bad, I didnt write your drinks down. So we reordered drinks. Food was average at best. Wouldnt be surprised if the frites I had with my steak were from the freezer and my steak was overdone. Wont return because the actual experience didnt match where the menu and price points were pitched. Feels like the B team were on the Thursday night we were there.
Very good coffee break, with a comfy atmosphere
A late night snack at Parlour Lane quickly became the best steak and chips we have ever had. A perfectly cooked steak with delicious peppercorn sauce and piping hot, crunchy perfectly seasoned fries!! Outstanding late night service. Such a romantic setting, perfect lighting and music. Can t wait to dine again
Stopped in for lunch with my Wife and was really happy with everything, we chose the two course lunch menu and both courses - soup de jour and the steak frites were excellent. Service was very good and friendly. Unique location with bucket loads of charm.
Nice little place to eat when travelling in Sydney with limited Monday night options and they actually dont overcook their steak! Would go back.
Took my meal order, then ignored me. I even had to go to the bar to get my bill.
The place is nicely design, frenchy and unique. However, I wouldn t recomend here. The customer service is really bad. Given the time we come is very quiet. Staff could be more attentive and welcoming. we were served coldly. There is this guy that came to check in with us whether we finished our food. however, he could be more tact while looking when we finished to clear the dishes. We felt we are being rushed to leave, even though only us eating at the whole place. Given the nice design, this place could be improved by focusing on more about customer services side. this is a let down. and Don t come here if you aren t white.
Limited amount of choices in the menu but all very traditionally French ! Didn t have to wait to long for food and the atmosphere is great
Was staying at the hotel so I thought Id make use of the afternoon happy hour - sadly I was greeted poorly by the surly brunette boss lady, and sat in the worst seat possible - facing the back of the expresso machine. Perhaps she didnt think I had enough money to spend. No, the place was not full. Then the surly boss lady gives me attitude when I asked for the happy hour menu (when no menu was offered whilst others were seated around me). After finishing my oysters, snails, and a couple of beers, and putting the bill on my room, surly brunette boss lady then tells me I need to move on. Wow. Needless to say, I didnt visit the Parlour again for happy hour during my stay, and I spent my money elsewhere. Why have a happy hour to then make guests feel unwelcome? Its a pity as the QT hotel is lovely and I like staying there, the Parlour is excellent for breakfast, the wait staff are hard working and attentive. Perhaps the surly lady needs to find her happy place, or learn some customer service. Update: Went there today (13/8/24), table for 1. The maitre d and waitress were amazing. Attentive, efficient, polite, and just got on with the job. Bravo. Amazing. And enough for me to change my review to 5 stars. Congratulations!!!
We had a reservation today for brunch. Manager said they don t take reservations, even though I can make one right now via Google. She was rude and unpleasant from the time we got there until the second we left. Told us to hurry up ordering because the kitchen was closing for breakfast, literally three minutes after we sat down. She was not a nice person and should not be working in hospitality. She would excel in a job where being rude to people is a requisite skill. Shame our experience was marred by this nasty person, because the food was quite good.
Great service and food
Absolutely excellent, hidden Steak n dessert gem
Lovely staff, good food, and cozy atmosphere.
Let us first say this place has a terrific ambience. Very chic, good atmosphere. Coffee and food were fine. But it is all spoiled by bad service. From the moment you arrive, you are greeted with service with an attitude. Cold, unwelcoming bordering on the hostile. If only this place could fix up their service, it would be a good place to spend some time. But with the current level of service, there will be few who would come back.
We love the restaurant food but the lady served us had unfriendly attitude towards us. She seems to speak English acceptably but she has problem understanding English well as every time we asked her a question, she often answered something else, even though most of us were either born here or have been here for over 40 years except my mom. Anyway, my son has nuts allergy, we specified couple times to reinforce the importance of nuts free meal for him. She got a bit agitated, not sure whether she has no sense of severity of nuts allergy or it is just her. Anyway she said their kitchen doesn t serve any nut so we don t need to tell her again. Then the entree porc terrine came, we can see lots of pistachio inside the terrine, the gentleman that brought the dish to us wasn t informed by the lady but later on realised after we told him, he offered us to change. I told him I will simply swap my snapper crudo with my son s terrine as long as it doesn t contain any nuts, so no big deal. Later on, out of goodwill to prevent similar incident happening again under her care, my son tried to informed her that the terrine has nut in it, but we were shocked when we called her. She wasn t apologetic but blamed us not specifying what kind of nuts my son is allergic. But we told her when people say nuts allergy, it includes all sorts of nuts and we did say no nuts at all and she did say they don t serve any nut in their kitchen. She wasn t happy we told her and acted defensive, then all the way she gave us unfriendly look and attitude. At the end my mom needed to compliment her to cheer her up. Funny thing is that she understood my mom s basic English. However it can be problematic if some diners with medical conditions need to request dietary requirements, I don t think she can grasp the information correctly, it can be fatal!
Really good good service and atmosphere
The food and service were exceptional
Food and service fabulous an intimate place where you can actually have a conversation quality of the produce wonderful with some throwbacks from the past on the menu given a contemporary vibe been here twice and loved it both time ! Next time I ll have to make room for the crepes suzzette
Atmosphere is very good!!!the drink kir is amazing !!!
Not bad service on the whole, although they did bring the wrong entree, given it was quiet, wait staff could have been a bit more attentive. Great wine by the glass recommendations and superb wines. Steak with Frittes was as good as it gets, same with the parfait. If we go back I ll order just those, plenty filling enough. On the Downside the Confit Duck was way too salty and the crepes for dessert were like very heavy doughy thin pancakes, heavy going but nice fancy table preparation. It was surprising to have these not so good dishes given it s a small and specialised menu and a quiet night.
We were keen for the Crepe Suzette Flambe but there was too many people that may get scared. I cant recommend a dish because what we had is not listed on this review.
Service was so good staff so polite but and it s a big but the food left me feeling quite disappointed, my steak was full of fat and tasteless and smothered in sauce that wasn t the best I ve had and for the price served with chips?? The wine is quite expensive and my husband had duck served with greens which wasn t green it was a melody is sloppy stuff and the duck was quite unremarkable. Won t be going again
My wife and I enjoyed the most superb food, wine and outstanding service at Parlour. A memorable lunch and we will most definitely return
I love that little tucked away piece of wanna be France. The service is great, the food is pretty good too. As a French guy ill recommend the duck, the bread, the parfait and the crepe suzette. The pasta while not really french are amazing too. While its a great dinner option for a night out in the city, i would not bother to go there for breakfast.
My son has treated me a superb dinner tonight with the BEST prawn cocktail. Every mouthful is super delicious
Good food and good service.
Went there few days ago and loved the food and service from the French waitress. Can t remember her name but she was amazing
Average food/service
Food was delicious and service was excellent. The decor is very interesting and made for a great atmosphere.
I recently dined at this beautiful restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was inviting and elegant. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who made sure every detail of our dining experience was perfect. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. I cant wait to return and explore more of the menu.
Lovely quiet restaurant in Sydney CBD.
The ambiance and food was incredible. The service was top notch and made sure that our every request was fulfilled promptly and with a smile. They also swapped a cocktail for me which I ordered after THEY noticed I did not enjoy after taking 1 or 2 sips, I did not even bring it up to them. Highly recommended for a wonderful meal, service and ambiance!
Beautiful place with great service and amazing food. I went for the steak frites and a glass of wine and was not disappointed at all. Cooked perfectly as I asked (rare) the steak was melting in the mouth. The beairnaise was delicious and so were the fries (not saying French fries as fries are actually originated from Belgium hahaha) Highly recommend this place
Great food, fantastic French atmosphere
This was my second visit to Parlour and it didnt disappoint! The food & service were excellent, and it is a great place to enjoy preshow dining.
We got greeted poorly,. Food was absolutely awful. Bland. Poorly presented. We didnt finish the food at all. We didnt get meal checked, or even asked how everything was when paying the bill. We felt unwelcome from the get go. We didnt receive the egg on our dish. We got asked if we were gonna pay cash or card as we sat down- we hadnt even ordered anything. It was honestly so awful. Some training needs to be implemented.
Service is good too! The fries are crispy and the quantity is huge haha! Be sure to order salmon and pasta~~><
Amazing environment with very friendly staff. You feel like you re in Paris!!!! Love it!!! Food was incredible and one of the best liver parfait we ve ever eaten!!!
This is an amazing little restaurant and bar. I ve been here a few times and never been disappointed. The food is incredible, service is excellent and you leave feeling like you have been to an authentic French restaurant.
Great service, great food, great ambiance. I absolutely LOVE this place. The steak frites is incredible.
Quirky very French stools and great crepe suzette cooked at your table.
Hands down one of the best steaks Ive ever had. Absolutely incredible
Food s not good
My partner and I had dinner at this French restaurant for our 12th anniversary and we were blown away! The atmosphere was really cool, being set in what looked like an old wing of the theatre next door. The drinks and food were amazing (especially the spiced pear martini, salmon gravlax and the rum baba dessert). Would definitely dine there again!
Amazing experience. Customer service was top notch. Every food item we tried was excellent. Hats off to the team. Highly recommend!!!
Never had such dismissive service. We had arrived in city to see a show at the State Theatre next door and approached the barista to ask if she was able to do a takeaway coffee (she was making coffees for dine in at the time). She asked if we had a reservation and I said no but simply wanted a coffee for takeaway as we had a show booked for next door. She said no cause it s too busy as we did not have a reservation. Unfortunately there were no other places for a coffee nearby open and the barista simply moved along and was not even willing to make one takeaway coffee which I would have waited for.
Well while in Paris we got ripped off in one of the restaurants but in Sydney I didn t expect it . Fish of the day was ocean trout , average size $45 it was drenched in some tasty buttery sauce and nothing else and the salad small bowl of cos and radicchio lettuce $14 when the plates with fish arrived I was embarrassed and felt stupid and my friend was also bit puzzled . Maybe your waiting staff should explain bit more . Anyway it was a bistro after all with over priced food on offer . The bistro decor and ambience was great .. shame about the food . Maybe the plate would look like something if you add couple of spears of asparagus or broccolini it s not that expensive but the dish would look better or give better explanations and offer better addition to your main meal
Great French Cafe/Bar, amazing orange juice
Great little French bistro. They forgot to bring our drinks out, even after checking on them a few times. But besides that staff were friendly and food was lovely.
Foods were great. Welcome service and as we started to order .. both guest officer at the counter and the waiter, hospitality was not as great as it should be. But as we left and gave some tips, his smile was so huge ..
Average food but overpriced. Hope the food will improve
Surprised to be able to be seated without a booking on a show night. Our friendly wait person arranged our drinks and we ordered Citron Pasta and the Fish of the day. The Pasta was basic and buttery, the Fish was ok but not fantastic. Great atmosphere and convenient for The State Theatre
Food was subtle but excellent, and we couldn t fault a thing. The staff were so nice and overall a lovely dinner. Also, a great wine selection and quick service!
I went here with my partner for a quick dinner. We both werent incredibly hungry and we wanted a light and romantic dinner. The staff were both super friendly and attentive. We sat on the tables closest to the door towards the road. Place is clean, with a lovely dimly lit atmosphere. We did find the music quite loud however (we were seated directly under the speaker), so it made it a little hard for us to talk. We ordered the souffle, pork fillet, macaroni, and potato gratin. The souffle and potato gratin are amazing! Both came on dishes with a creamy sauce. The pork fillet was a little dry in the middle of the eye, but the rest was delicious and well seared. It came with a thick sauce that looked like curry paste but it turned out to be this delicious thick sauce. It also came with slices of poached apple that had a wonderful bite and texture. The macaroni was cooked beautifully. It was served in a butter, lemon and herb sauce. The butter in the sauce is definitely what stands out, but the lemon flavour and tartness was overpowering (I think a lot of juice was used). Id suggest using the zest and cutting down on the juice. But the butter and herbs was a wonderful flavour and gave the dish a lovely mouth feel, similar to butter noodles. Four dishes were the perfect amount for both of us. We definitely will go back.
Had breakfast here. Excellent coffee, friendly and attentive service, food portions were perfect (though needed to be on slightly larger plates to make it easier to eat). Probably the only thing that stopped from giving five stars was that the scrambled eggs were not as soft /fluffy as I prefer.
Without doubt, some of the best coffee in the whole of Sydney.
Fabulous ambience and great food and service
Loved it. a beautifully styled cafe
Great food, sides and wine list... beautiful art deco interior....
bland bring salt and pepper with you
Parlour offers diners a step back in time while delivering high-quality food and excellent service. Everything was delicious.
quiet small shop i sat in front of the shop the street little bit noisy
best place to go pre show at the state
We had a lovely time at Palour. It s got a casually romantic vibe with beautiful old-time decor. We enjoyed the food, it was simple yet delicious. Everything I d expect from French cuisine. I d recommend the potato gratin, freshly chuckled oysters and fish goujons. For dessert the coffee creme caramel was amazing!
Incredible ambiance, amazing food, well priced and excellent service, will definitely be back next trip to Sydney! Thank you Jacques for your table service!
Youd include this place in Lonely Planet if you were writing a travel guide for Sydney. Well, I would, anyway, if recommending restaurants for Lonely Planet was something I did. The food is tasty, the service is perky and the location is discrete - like a packet of spiral pasta or some muon thing. Noisy, crammed, dark - once the show starts next door the glass clinking stops and you get the place to yourself.... Well, not quite but there is a certain undeniable romantic intimacy here. Reminiscent of Bar Reggio in Darlinghurst - the food has a certain wholesome Italian-ness to it thats both filling and value for a city location. Book ahead with Google reserve... Makes the whole process pretty smooth. And no, the search engine Goliath didnt pay me to say that! A night to remember, a night to enjoy and maybe feel a little city centre hip. Do it, cubby!
A step back in time great atmosphere feels like Paris if I were there in the 1920s, fabulous meals with very attractive wait staff, recommended anytime GREAT COFFEE
Yum! Everything we had was delicious, including the wine. Friendly attentive staff. Has a great vibe and beautiful setting.
Good place n good food! Enjoyed
Beautiful art deco decor, very romantic and intimate vibe with candlelight on the tables for the dinner service. The food was simply presented but perfectly cooked, especially the fish. The potato gratin was delicious. Food
Two cheese soufflé was quite good I had it twice. Great food. Warm reception.
We are regular hotel guests and this time we are slightly disappointed. The lemon saffron macaroni was nice but needed some herbs to lift it up. We ordered a side of cherry tomato salad and this was wrong. It was served very very cold, almost frozen. I think tomatoes should be served at room temperature- very disappointing! The peas was ok but the bits of smoked meat in it was wrong, dry, hard and inedible. Rum baba for dessert. Two spoonfuls and no more. Too strong that it seemed like it was only rum over the cake and no syrup. The proportions of sugar vs rum is not right. We liked parlour cucina better - as it was. Going French would have been refreshing but the quality fell off the mark. French bistro style has warmth, the new Parlour is lacklustre and cold.
Service: poured our own drinks for $85 a bottle. Asked for the bill and waited and waited and no waiting received. Food: ok but not French. Pretty standard fare - fish goujons = fish fingers, eggplant gratin = eggplant parmi. Tasted alright tho. Wine was good!
All dishes were so bland. The restaurant decor and services were excellent.
Nice little place. Breakfast super tasty
Had lunch here and surprisingly everything was really tasty! The staff are very friendly and professional and the prices are reasonable. I also liked the vibe. Recommended if you re in city and want to try something different!
Had lunch at the Parlour. Greeted by fabulous staff and served a superb array of French dishes. Fresh, delicious food and a very good selection of wine.
Over price and service was slow , didn t get served for 30 mins after we sat down , no vegan options I was offered a side , not that hard to have a vegan option :( was not satisfied actually worse restaurant I ve been to and I ve travelled around the world , room was nice however and staff friendly. Dietary restrictions: Vegan
We had a great time there. Excellent service, great food, awesome location.
Pre show quick dinner and drinks. The food was superb .bravo. The service a little stretched but very pleasant and welcoming ..
My first time at Parlour. Lovely setting, and the staff were very welcoming and efficient. Meal was fabulous. Only downside for me was the music was a tad loud. Made it difficult to quietly chat with my dinner guest.
Overpriced and average food. The wine list is good but most of the wine are $100+ or ~$300 which does not match the food quality and the venue. I will not come back and cant recommend this place, there are much better options in the CBD.
I went to this place, not with very high expectations, and what a surprise it was. The staff are very polite and friendly. I had Fish Goujons and my friend Pork Cutlet with Potato Gratin. The food was perfect and the price very reasonable. The perfect place to stop for dinner before a show at the State Theatre, or simply a romantic dinner.
Expensive + bad food + racism = perfect french restaurant. If you are colored, dont even think about to go. Food
5 stars to this cafe who s got everything right. Great service. I tried Kir Royale for the first time yesterday and I m sure to go there to have it again. Had some starters as well. Good portions and beautifully presented.
Visiting Sydney from Gold Coast Thought wed pull in here looked nice had 2 drinks 1 glass champagne @$32.00 Wife said that it was nice but dead flat 1 glass French beer (apparently) @#14.00 Again dead flat if thats the way the French drink it they can keep it Wouldve preferred a tooheys and a passion pop Wouldve thought it would be a lot better at those prices Wont be going back unless they offer a freeby or a refund Cant recommend
You cant pass by a beautiful lady at the door (each day a new one?) that ushers you into the retro rooms. Whatever we tried in our several visits was delicious. Ambiance - superb. Dont tell anyone what and how it is there because I am afraid there will be no tables for us available next time around. Lets keep it secret between us.
Loved this venue. Great for a date night dining experience. Celebrated our engagement here and were treated to complimentary champagne and a free dessert
Great atmosphere. Waiters were way to slow and not very friendly. Ive had better Charcuterie platters at Coles. Sorry but, please take your profession a little more seriously.
Yeah, yeah, nahhhhhhh. Nice people, average food. I dont like saying it but I have to be honest. Food : 3/5
The place s atmosphere is amazing. However, the food is maybe French inspired but doesn t taste like French dishes and I have some kind of experience as a French guy. For instance, the cassoulet is supposed to be a generous, not a sample hided being the duck leg. Overall, plates lack of taste.
Nice venue. Ok service. Average food, and overpriced. The beef cheeks were absolutely tasteless. The chicken liver parfait was underwhelming. It was difficult to get the waiters attention even though they were not busy tonight. Wouldnt recommend. Can go to Felix/Hubert/Bistro St Jacques for the same or less price
Eggplant gratin for lunch was so yum
Great French bistro
Great food, portions are quite small and pricey
Wonderful ambience for us. Quiet and cosy for lunch. Service was good and very friendly. Food was very good; a little small for the price.
The food was ok. The baguette had been in the oven a bit too long and was DARK brown on serving. The serving was small. The reason for the 1 star in serving was the absolute snop that served us. Yes, its a French restaurant, but you dont have to be dismissive, rude, non present and make us feel like we shouldnt be there. The lady at the front of the parlour should be serving people. She was extremely nice, accommodating and very helpful. The way she invited us in and let us look around was the pure readon we had lunch at the establishment. I dont think well be back woth the way we were treated by the otger staff OR how the staff treated the new staff. Extremely toxic environment.
Two of us went for coffee and snacks. We ordered the charcuterie board. Coffee was very good but the charcuterie board was underwhelming. Sausages were very dry. Service was very good.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would! Zero customer service! Food average. We were the only table for the night and had to wave and literally call out for service cause all 4 staff member was not paying attention to us at all!
Great
Un morceau parfait de Paris à Sydney Parlour is a beautiful contradiction. Tucked away and subtle, ye outrageously loud with its perfectly dressed mannequins behind free standing glass. The incredible drinks menu and food, makes you feel like you re having dinner in the middle of the cat walk during Paris fashion week. Service was lovely, personable and knowledgeable. The absolute standout for me was the wasabi sauce with the steak tartare. Highly recommend.
Excellent service and vibe , thoroughly enjoyed breakfast there.
Nice place for a meal before shows
Such a cute place that steps back in time. Very classy and great decor. Came for a few drinks and the service was good too.
gorgeous restaurant, food was great & loved the art deco vibes
The environment and design is excellent. The food was disappointing. We ordered steak hache, ratatouille, bread and a cheese with a couple of drinks. The mains were really bad quality, with a ratatouille looking like raw vegetables and tomato sauce. It is definitely possible to get better French food in another place for the prices offered in this one. Service from staff was good in general.
Just wanted to say all good but when a show is on couldnt they let you have lunch menu 11.30. I had travelled a long way & wanted to have a nice lunch but would not serve in time for show.
Fabulous intimate setting with exceptionally delicious French fare! So nice in the heart of the city..
Great french products! I d recommend the cheeses and charcuterie. The bread was good too. As a French person i m picky but this restaurant was exceptional ! The main fish of the day (trout) was fabulous ! Good service (thanks Felix!) and cozy warm atmosphere. Great wine list.
I enjoyed a relaxing evening, delicious food, wonderful wines and such lovely people looking after us!!!
Coffee and almond croissant tres chic along w decor and ambience
We came for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The service is extremely slow. The wait staff forget to come and take your order. We had to flag down someone to take our order. Originally we were going to order food but because of lack of service, we decided against and ordered a coffee and a chocolate croissant instead. Coffee was great, the croissant was tasty too. The breakfast menu looked tasty.
Amazing vibe
Went for breakfast as I was staying at the hotel. Service was poor, waited 5 minutes to be seated with tables free and staff walking back and forth then had one staff member who was quite rude and could not be bothered with basic etiquette. Food was ok and took a while to be delivered, my crumpets arrived face down and Im sure that was to hide the finger imprint in one. Coffee was good
Beautiful setting for dinner, great french dishes that were tasty and lovely staff. Would definitely recommend and come back!
Great little spot
I ve been to this place many times. The staff are nice, and the service is outstanding; the cocktails are excellent, the food is fabulous, and I had the best dessert ever here! It
The coffee creme brulee is awesome awesome awesome!!
Nice little cafe. Good food and drinks. Great location in town too.
Expensive drinks, decent food. Our group ordered a couple rounds of negronis and a share plate, at an exuberant price even for the CBD, only after being forced to a table and not being allowed to stand to wait for the rest of our group. Our server was incredibly rude and while maybe we caught her on an off day, her tone, service ability, and attitude were appalling. Super disappointing for such a quaint venue.
Although the ambience is good the service is very bad. We were celebrating a birthday and the food was very bad. We ordered some steaks and weve got hamburgers instead. Even the fried eggs had raw whites. The French fries really very disappointing. At the end they were charging a bottle of wine twice. I would never recommend this place.
Two of us went for a pre-theatre supper and thoroughly enjoyed everything. The Irish waiters were super friendly and professional at the same time. A hard act to pull off. The plum tomato tarte tatine was superb and the charcuterie plate perfect for 2. It couldnt be closer to the State Theatre if you decide to have another glass of grenache!
Great service lovely place but absolutely terrible coffee. Burned long black like I haven t go for long time
Food was sub par. Very salty and missing key flavours. Very pricey and servings are tiny for what you pay
Quaint and cute wine bar in the city, great service and food. Must come for happy hour!
This design of the bar is the saving grace . We were one of four tables and the wait for cocktails was well over 20 minutes. Staff seem disinterested to assist and snappy when asking about my current order . Sandwich with jus was below average. But I would give this venue another chance with the hope this was a one time event
The service here is exceptional. They also have the best coffee in Sydney which for me is essential. Im frequently here so everything has to be great otherwise I wouldnt be a regular here.
Excellent
We showed up on a Saturday night with no booking before a show. We managed to get a 2 seats at the bar and started our express experience from there, as we only had 1hour to dine before we had to leave. We ordered the steak tartare, the leek tarte tartin to start. The TARTIN is an absolute MUST!!!! We shared the daube de boeuf. The meat was so tender and fell apart. To finish we had the bleu dauvergne and heidi gruyere cheeses. The bleu was The lady that served us that night was so authentically French and was so knowledgeable on the food and was even able to pair perfectly wines to match. Would definitely go back again and!!!
Really enjoyed the experience. Good food and amazing atmosphere.
Food was very nice. The coffee brûlée was not a brûlée!!! And most people would be disappointed. But service was abysmal!!! Having to top up our wine was not good when the bill was $400 a couple. There was literally no table service after main meals.
Wonderful place, beautiful atmosphere
Good fun, good food. Not the standard stereotypical restaurant. They cared about the design of the place as well as the presentation of the food. Good quality wines (but not inexpensive). While everything we ordered was good, preparing the crepes for dessert table-side was excellent.
An absolute gem everything was fabulous and service was great
This is a piece of Paris conveniently located in the Sydney CBB. The ambiance and fitout is outstanding. Excellent food and the bar stools are amazing. The only negative was that the meal was rushed. I asked for a break between courses but to no avail.
Expensive for the quality and they have slow service. Plus we waited 15 mins for coffees they left on the bench and till they went cold and then tried to serve to us.
The place is so cozy.. looks so exclusive from outside, but warm and and humble inside. And very good price too!! Really nice place to spend morning for coffee and small breakfast. Love it!
Favourite cafe.
This is my favourite coffee place when Im in the office. Great coffee, cool music and great atmosphere. Hands down the BEST element for this venue is the staff, they are all friendly, professional and make you feel right at home. Youll be returning their big smiles before you know it. There is nothing they cant make happen. Do yourself a favour and take a break in this cafe.
Friendly staff and great tunes! I ordered eggplant casarecce and it was delicious, it could be a bigger serve or come with bread, but it was worth it. I tried some of the lamb pappardelle and it was so good too!
Great atmosphere, amazing wine as well.
Wow James is the ultimate! Arrived and the staff dropped the ball, James picked it up and scored! I requested he make the food selection for us(difficult as I am keto and my partner likes carbs) He said I will talk with the chef! We had the best flavourful meal and left on a high for the theatre next door Thank you James!! Ps he declined a tip, so show your appreciation for great service!
cute place
Very nice little eatery
Beautiful venue with great service and nice offerings
I love coming here for business meetings with clients. The ambience is very unique and a nice change of pace from the regular coffee nights around town...
Good breakfast. Stayed at the hotel for 2 days and enjoyed the food. Service was a bit chaotic though.
Lovely little bar!
perfect for a quick breakfast where you just want perfectly cooked eggs prior to check out...
Wonderful restaurant - the curly haired bartender was very affectionate and talented.
Great service
The decor is amazing
The lamb pasta was delicious, simple and very well seasoned, super yummy. The burruta and rosemary focaccia were really good too. Just found the arancini ordinary. Would recommend and come back.
8 dollars for large flat white.. this is place is expensive that too for no reason.
It was a very good experience for us. We ordered the eggplant pasta. My friend is real Italian and she said it was amazing. The latte was also fantastic! Highly recommend. Sorry I forgot to take a photo. It all went down my stomach. Lol
Went there on Friday night for a drink. Great atmosphere but sadly the bartender didnt knew how to make a dirty martini. He had to look up the recipe on his phone which is okay as you could tell hes new in the bar. He got there after making two (twist and classic martini) and with some help from us. Manager (with red blazer) didnt liked that and he insuated we were drunk by pouring a glass of water on our table.
No napkins Awful wines very dark and boring
Went there for dinner over the past weekend and was disappointed there was very little to choose from. I had the blue swimmer crab which was passable only. It would ve been tastier with some parmasian cheese.
The new French inspired menu is excellent - we had chicken liver pate, cheese and perfectly cooked crispy skin salmon. The delightful Art Deco theatre decor makes this a very special bit of secret Sydney to discover
Cute little arty caffè
The best service, food and ambiance of any restaurant Ive been to so far in Sydney within this price bracket. The most surprising thing is that even on the busiest of days you can just walk in and find a table without a reservation.
4 days in advance I booked for dinner for my partners birthday. When we arrived we were ignored for 5 minute then told our table would be ready In a couple of minutes. After another 5 minutes I asked about the progress of our table and was then told we didn t have a booking. The staff member continued to try and convince me I didn t have a booking, even after I showed him multiple emails confirming my booking. No responsibility was taken at all and no apology. Horrible customer service and obviously booking counts for nothing.
Great place for food and privacy, love the vibe, the staff are nice and the food is delicious
