15 Bligh St, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia
Classic French dishes showcased in a sophisticated venue featuring a lively bar & vintage decor.
Walking in the city and we found this chic restaurant with live music, the welcome was amazing and it was busy. We didn’t have a reservation but the manager accommodated us. We had the duck parfait which was very good. We also had the crab which was the star of the night. For main course we all had the Boeuf Bourguignon that was cooked for eight hours and served with a mushroom sauce. It was good. The manager recommended to have vegetables on the side which were quite expensive but tasty.
My partner and I had an incredible dining experience at Restaurant Hubert. From the moment we stepped inside, the warm, intimate atmosphere paired with soothing jazz music set the perfect tone for the evening. The food was nothing short of exceptional. The duck parfait was luxuriously creamy and absolutely delicious—a true standout. The prime beef tartare, served with perfectly crisp chips, was another highlight, and the lamb was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor. The staff, especially those at the bar, were so friendly and engaging, making us feel right at home. Their attention to detail and warm demeanor added to the overall experience. Restaurant Hubert is a gem, and we can’t wait to return for another unforgettable evening!
Hubert in Sydney is truly a hidden gem! The French cuisine is absolutely exquisite, with every dish prepared to perfection. The live jazz music every evening creates an amazing ambiance that transports you straight to Paris. On top of that, the service is outstanding—attentive, friendly, and professional. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.
The restaurant located at the basement of a commercial building. The settings were classy and nostalgic. Upon our arrival, there was blue songs performance which was quite impressive. We were not familiar with French cuisine. We just ordered a few main course for sharing all tasted very good, especially the chicken which was quite a big one. It overruled my stereotypes of French cuisine. The servant was polite and helpful. It was an interesting dinning experience.
Absolutely loved our evening at Restaurant Hubert! The live jazz created such a vibrant atmosphere, and the meal was beautifully crafted and full of flavor. The service was attentive and welcoming, making the experience even better. Highly recommend this gem for anyone looking for a memorable night out!
Restaurant Hubert is a true gem in Sydney! The cozy, vintage atmosphere combined with the live jazz band makes for an unforgettable dining experience – the music was absolutely a highlight. We tried the in-season white asparagus, which was delicate, fresh, and beautifully prepared. Every detail, from the ambiance to the service, is thoughtfully done. Highly recommend for a special night out or anyone looking to enjoy incredible food with a side of live jazz!
Hubert is a true gem in the heart of Sydney. From the moment you walk in, you’re transported to a Parisian-style bistro with warm lighting, vintage decor, and an ambiance that’s both romantic and lively. The attention to detail is impeccable, making the dining experience feel truly special. The menu is a celebration of classic French cuisine, beautifully executed with rich flavors and perfect presentation. The duck is exquisite—crispy skin with tender meat, complemented by expertly crafted sauces. The steak frites are perfectly cooked, and the handmade pasta options are also exceptional. Every dish is a testament to their dedication to quality and authenticity. The service is flawless, with staff who are friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about both the menu and the wine list, which is extensive and thoughtfully curated. They make excellent recommendations that pair wonderfully with each course. Dining at Hubert feels like a special occasion, whether you’re celebrating or just indulging in a memorable meal. It’s one of those places that makes you want to come back for every birthday, anniversary, or just any time you crave a truly exceptional dining experience. Highly recommended!
Walked in on a Saturday night at 5pm and was situated at the bar as no booth or table was available for 2. The vibe is amazing as always and the service was impeccable. Food was delicious and came out of the kitchen at a good pace. Highly recommend the Escargot and duck parfait but all the dishes we had were great. Live jazz started just after 6pm and we caught a little bit of it before leaving. Would definitely be back but recommend booking in advance!
One of the very best restaurants in Sydney. Excellent staff, creative and delicious food, great cocktails and the ambience cannot be beat in Sydney.
Absolute banger of a place. Live jazz band throughout lunch, service out of sight and food to die for. I can t believe I haven t been here earlier but definitely will return.
Had an exceptional dining experience featuring authentic French cuisine and attentive service. Even as walk-ins, we couldnt watch the live jazz performance, but the ambiance was simply superb. Highly recommend this gem!
Nice
Our all time favorites are Passionfruit Souffle, Crab and Espelette, Duck Perfect and Prime Beef Tartare.
Had a good happy hour here. Christina who served our table was so nice and wonderful. The parfait was delicious.
I visited Sydney on my honeymoon. I heard that this is a restaurant you must visit when you come to Sydney, so I booked a bar table. When Koreans come, they seem to eat sirloin steak and kimchi gratin, so we wanted to eat it like this too, right? But Im so lucky!!!! JUN, a Korean employee, came and recommended something unique and delicious instead of the typical Korean course. Wine too!! For those of you who have some extra money or want to spend more on food, try the sirloin steak as it is a steak that starts with B.. blah (A under the sirloin steak.. hahaha) And try the crab + bread. Other than that, escargot and mushrooms were also recommended, but since there were two of us, we couldnt try them due to the issue of not being able to eat them all haha. Anyway, this is a must-visit restaurant when you come to Sydney! Theres also a jazz performance, so the atmosphere is good and the food is delicious haha. I hope you visit. Im not sorry I spent the money!!! Thank you so much, Jun
Amazing ambience and an amazing experience. Had the lobster for the night
Koreans Favorite Restaurant Hubert Its dark because its underground. The price is expensive. $400 for 5 people The food is delicious, but honestly, I dont know much about it for someone like me. The jazz performance and dessert creme brûlée are delicious. Im not sure because the menu is complicated. Its better to ask a staff member to explain.
We had a wonderful evening here tonight. The food and service were both excellent. At the end of our meal, the manager noticed we were celebrating an anniversary and kindly offered us a complimentary soufflé for dessert. It was such a thoughtful gesture. Highly recommend this restaurant!
The absolute pinnacle for the complete dining experience. The moment you enter and make your way down to the entrance, you feel like you re going down into a mystical cave which showcases the amazing Sydney heritage. The greeting at the counter through to the seating and wait staff was absolutely perfect and I never say that. Everything we ordered from the food to the cocktails just left us lost for words as to flavours and quality. Special mention the Bavette Steak which is a must try in your lifetime you simply will not find better anywhere. The ambiance complimented with the incredible live jazz band just really did make it a wonderful experience that I highly recommend, you will not regret it.
A jazz bar with a nice atmosphere. I went as a walk-in on a Friday evening and didnt have to wait long before getting a corner seat (if you want to sit a little further outside, you can wait a bit longer). It was crowded and noisy, so the corner seat was actually nice. (It was a little disappointing because the employees were passing by) I recommend going in time for the jazz performance. All performance halls are filled by reservation only. Even if you are in a corner, the live music is played through the speakers, so you can fully feel the atmosphere even without looking. A lot of people order sirloin and kimchi gratin, but instead of gratin, they order pomes and potatoes. These potatoes are crazier than meat. The outside and inside go well together with the sauce. Everyone, please try the potatoes.
Loved dining here it s such a vibe. The live music is the perfect volume, staff are lovely and the food is 10/10. A must in Sydney .
Hubert is a no error choice. Food is amazing the environment is great and the atmosphere is boosted by the Jazz plaid live. Food
Mint
attended a wedding dinner in their private room, which was very unique in itself as well as the food which was amazing, definitely worth a try!
The food is excellent, but its all bout the ambience and the sweet sounds of that jazz! What a restaurant!
Great atmosphere Delicious food Great setvice Avoid Tarte tatin. Food : 5/5 |
I made a reservation and went. First of all, the live performance was great I changed my reservation time once. Email response is very friendly. I had high expectations, but the r posted in some of the reviews is secretly there Some servers are a bit bad. Food ordered: Yukhoe tartare & kimchi gratin Its just okay
The atmosphere is good and the staff is friendly. If you want to eat while listening to jazz, you should make a reservation!
I visited during happy hour on a Friday and there were a lot of people so I had to wait for over 30 minutes. I could hear music and the atmosphere was nice, but the bar space was small so the overall atmosphere was very hectic. However, because it is filled with only locals, the reviews that say it does not feel like you are in a foreign country because there are too many Koreans are not correct. We recommend a reserved table so that there is space between you and you can have a calm conversation and enjoy food and wine. If you are visiting as a walk-in without a reservation, I expect it would be better to avoid Friday or the weekend and go on a weekday.
I enjoyed the meal so much. I thought it was 1% when I paid for the tip at the end, so I pressed 1 and only got a 0.01 dollar tip. Im so sorry.
Great spot, great food and with a live Jazz band, Great vibes! You must be an absolute snob if you cant enjoy yourself here.
Everything here is divine. The food is exceptional, the wait staff attentive and knowledgeable, including with respect to wine (and arent snobby about providing options at the lower end of the budgetary scale!). Be sure to book early to snag a table close to the front where you can enjoy the fantastic jazz players. The gruyere souffle was outstanding and the steaks never disappoint. Go with your appetite and savour every moment.
Nice food, nice day, and nice people.
The food is delicious, the taste buds are amazing, and the French restaurant has a great atmosphere. I celebrated my anniversary here with my boyfriend. The atmosphere was full from the door to the basement, and the service was attentive. Every waiter came over with a smile and took care of the meal. Taste, there will be jazz performances during the meal to increase the fun of dining. It is suitable for dates or friends to come for dinner and drinks. The wine list is also rich in choices. I will come back to taste this beautiful restaurant
A fine dining experience in a very elegant environment with quite possibly the best burger I have ever had. Service was fantastic with a little bit of light jazz playing in the background, a truly magical experience.
Really love this place
The raw kingfish with brown butter bonito shoyu sauce was to die for!!! Over our 2 week trip in Australia/NZ, this was my FAV dish hands down. Order some bread to sop up the delicious sauce...OMG yummy!!! Great drinks too. A bit pricey but worth it, given the overall experience and wonderful jazz music!!!
I was worried because I couldnt speak English, but they were friendly and the atmosphere was really nice. I highly recommend you visit when you come to Sydney.
Across all dimensions Hubert was absolutely delightful - a perfect spot for a special occasion, highly recommend getting the Steak au Poivre (requires pre-order)
Love the steak and very friendly customer service. Great place to hang out with friends. Food
Hubert was quite an experience. Especially with its entrance being a lone, wooden green door in the middle of a bustling corporate building. And as you entered the establishment, you could hear the music played by live jazz bands and the sounds of conservations. It just transport you to another tune and place. The staff and servers were very helpful and knew their menu very well. We were spoiled for choice so we had to ask them questions quite a few times and they were very obliging and never signed tired, frustrated or impatient. We finally settled on the seafood platter for entree and we demolished it. The oysters were really fresh and the sauce complemented it very well. The scallops were equally good, especially with the creamy sauce. But the surprising hero was the shredded calamari. I dont like calamari, but the way they made it, it was so palatable in its softness of texture and the refreshing dressingb that it was served in. The prawns were good, too. But it was the runt among the others. For main, we had the chateaubriand. I have known of Huberts reputation for its steak, but I had my reservations. But, I finally had to conform to public opinion. The steak was well cooked: it looked medium rare (my friends peference) but tasted medium (my preference) with its tenderness and juiciness. I felt like I neednt even have to chew. It could just slide down my throat. We just couldnt get enough of it. Dessert was good. We both enjoyed our choices: souffle and chocolate cake. The chocolate cake wasnt rich like a mudcake now light like a chocolate sponge, but more like a mousse. And it was perfect. Not too heavy after a our main but not too light for a fulfilling finish to the meal. Well This restaurant goes onto my starred list.
A hidden gem!!! Restaurant Hubert offers classic French dishes showcased in a sophisticated venue featuring a lively bar & vintage decor. The food is delicious, service is outstanding, and the atmosphere is great. The live music is an absolute joy. We tried Prime Beef Tartare, Duck Parfait, and Poisson du Jour and Pammes Frites (fish of the day). Booking in advance is essential. Highly recommended!!!
The food overall isnt bad. Kimchi gratin Surprisingly, it brings healing to tired Sydney foods. However, due to a shortage of whiskey, the price of the other whiskeys recommended is three times higher. Even though I made a reservation, I was taken to a seat where I couldnt see the jazz bar. The staff were all friendly but as nice as I expected. There was no atmosphere.
I went to Hubert with my partner to celebrate my birthday. The price is a bit expensive, but you get large portions, especially considering that this is a fine dining establishment. We actually did not expect to be so full. We got 1 starter and 2 mains and we were too full to get dessert despite how much we were looking forward to it. They also gave me a tiny cake to celebrate my birthday The atmosphere was great with the jazz band. Would love to come back..
Be sure to make a reservation in advance I really have no regrets about all the menu items. This is the only restaurant where I enjoyed everything.
Dietary restrictions: They use halal meat in the restaurant which is great Food
Was the overall experience great? No was it horrible? No Service was good, everyone was helpful. The environment is interesting with some unique touches. Wine selection was plenty- Serving sizes though just felt much smaller than a usual drink. Food was average/ below average. Snails were horrible in taste- there was also a small rock in on 2 of the snails- we notified the chef and it was removed from our bill. Steaks were not great either. for around $450 for two people, it really didnt meet my expectations.
One of the best dining experiences Ive ever had, I could not fault this restaurant if I tried. Flawless service, an exquisite menu of authentic French dishes, and an relaxed, cozy atmosphere. As for the live music, Calvin brought a fun and lively energy that made the evening unforgettable!
Fantastic experience at Hubert after waiting years to try them out. Its always been a bit difficult to book a spot at Hubert unless you do so weeks ahead so really recommend preplanning your visit. Youre struck by the old school atmosphere the moment you walk in, in a very good way. Plenty of candle light and wood surroundings and we felt comfortable straight away. With a live jazz band on stage, it perfected our experience even before the food. The service is very friendly and efficient and we were seated in no time. We chose the booth which is perfect for a couple. The food itself was spectacular. We would recommend the Mushroom au Poivre (remember to order some bread for the sauce) and the Sirloin steak. Everything was cooked perfected and the service here shone as they paced the courses perfectly. Since it was our anniversary, they also prepared little bite sized dessert for us since we were too full for a full dessert course. Awesome finish to our experience. Its no wonder this place is an establishment thats always booked out. I am looking forward to visiting again and would thoroughly recommend.
We came to Huberts for happy hour and I was super impressed. Loved the whole French jazz vibe! Cocktails were great and the staff very attentive. Hubert is a must if youre in the sydney city area.
Very cool venue. Clean, tidy and well-kept. Well above average for Sydney. Excellent service, including keeping the table cleared and tidy; again well above average for Sydney. Great food.
Always a perfect experience at Hubert
Went during the happy hour (5-6pm) for the negroni and duck parfait, would recommend
I was worried because the review mentioned racism (I even thought about canceling), but they were friendly and the food was delicious. The steak (cooking: medium) was well-cooked and tender. However, as a native Korean, I felt a little uncomfortable. I think its more because we dont drink wine or anything like that. A little salty and greasy overall? The dried seaweed was also delicious. And the atmosphere is really nice haha. I recommend you go there on a special day. The two of us spent about $200.
Immaculate service and unique atmosphere for one of the best meals I ve had in Sydney. Highly recommend coming with a group of friends, enjoy the live jazz and extensive wine selection.
Best restaurant in Sydney.
Best restaurant in Sydney, hands down. The space is incredible, the food sublime.
Not a single thing missing from this place! A jazzy, warm, wooded environment with an upscale feel and open late. Highly recommend!!!
We booked for a jazz Sunday lunch and were wowed. The food was good. We shared the mushroom in pepper sauce, duck pate, whole fish of the day and buttered greens and potatoes. The live entertainment from the jazz band was also very entertaining. Will definitely recommend
Thank you for a wonderful experience!
V warm service at Hubert! Sofiane was welcoming, attentive, and truly made our experience memorable.
Fantastic food (beef tartare was a standout, and the baguette with French butter was perfect for the bread lover in me), fantastic service (shout out to Michael), and fantastic atmosphere with the Jazz band doing their thing.
Best meal of my life!!!
The moodiest jazz with the most charismatic drummer Ive ever seen. A gorgeous glass of Riesling from Alsace. And great food every time.
Impeccable service, delicious food and a wonderful atmosphere. Hubert is one of our Sydney favorites that we keep coming back to. No matter where you sit, it is a vibe.
My partner and I celebrated our fifth anniversary and had an amazing dinner here! The staff and service was excellent and we couldn t have asked for better. Not to mention the vibes were both relaxed under candlelight yet sophisticated and piquant with live jazz. Our food highlights were the flank steak with bone marrow butter, which had a rich smokiness and was so juicy and was cooked perfectly (my man said it was one of the best he s had) and the duck parfait with the perfectly chewy Hubert baguette was so smooth and delicious that you didn t want to finish eating it. We also had the gruyere soufflé and it was so creamy and mellow, and the beef bourguignon was quite the well plated dish and the mushrooms were so juicy but the flavour of the beef could use a little more something. Overall we had a superb time and would love to come back again.
Thank you to the wonderful team, we ran a little late as we got lost in the city walking to the venue. It was my husbands birthday and we couldnt have picked a better restaurant to celebrate. The staff were gracious and accommodating allowing us to stay a little longer. Our waitress was divine and the service from the bar staff, impeccable. And, you cant go past the fantastic live Jazz in the centre of the dining Thank you Huberts for the wonderful experience - very memorable.
The food is delicious, the atmosphere is good, but the service is very bad. The staff is not friendly and looks arrogant. I had to ask for plates and glasses two or three times, no different from a street food restaurant, even though they charge a tip of $100.
Thanks Alex for great service. A great night celebrating my husbands birthday. Delicious food, enjoyable music and good atmosphere
Best French restaurant in Sydney! Cool place, cool jazz, amazing food!
Perfect!
Live jazz in an underground setting, with polished French cuisine. The food execution varies - core dishes including the steak are average and priced at a premium. However, the ambience and well stocked bar alone makes Hubert a veritable icon of Sydney.
Bad service Kid-friendliness: Unfriendly Food : 1/5 |
I visited the restaurant after 9 p.m. on November 7th. Then I sat down by the bar. The steak, wine, manners, and jazz music were all wonderful. I recommend Sirloin and b uf bourguignon Especially JUN, I enjoy the high quality meal for your excellent service. The first day of my trip to Sydney has come to a perfect conclusion
Food was awesome, but very dark with very loud music
Celebrated my friend s birthday , and it was such a private and memorable experience definitely worth it! The service was attentive, the ambiance was perfect, and the food was exceptional, especially the steaks. We all had a fantastic time. Highly recommend for a special occasion!
its a Parisian dream brought to life in the heart of Sydney. The moment you step inside, youre transported to a world of elegance and sophistication. The dimly lit ambiance, the soft jazz music, and the attentive staff create the perfect setting for a memorable dining experience. The escargots are a classic, cooked to perfection and served with a rich, garlicky butter. The steak frites is a carnivores dream, with the meat cooked to your liking and the fries crispy and golden. And lets not forget the layered potato. But the real highlight of the evening was the live jazz band. While Huberts is definitely a splurge, its worth every penny. Its a place where you can truly indulge and savor every bite. If youre looking for a truly memorable dining experience in Sydney, Huberts is a must-visit.
Its so popular that even though I made a reservation a month and a half in advance, there was only one table left. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious! The jazz performance was great and the atmosphere was so great that I could see why it was so popular! I had a bottle of orange wine, beer, mocktail, sirloin steak, kimchi gratin, and yukhoe tartare, and they were all good. The kimchi gratin tasted a bit like cheese kimchi pancake, but it was crunchy and so delicious! If you go to Sydney, I would recommend Hubert. It was a really cool place and a good meal. However, I recommend making a reservation.
Very nice place great service Dearest, be advised
I d been wanting to come here for ages. What a fantastic place. Feels like you re in France or New Orleans. The foods fantastic, the bands a joy, great night and experience all round. This place is a vibe.
Jun, our AMAZING server, was a wonderful guide for a fantastic dining experience.
Entering this restaurant is similar to the seamless shot in Goodfellas entering the club behind Ray Liotta through the undergroung passage. You feel like youre apart of an exlcusive club where who knows what will happen. Leave your keys in the bowl at the door lol Jokes... You enter through a rather underwhelming frontage only to be greeted by an interior out of The Great Gatsby. A spiralling staircase that takes you up to a 1940s jazz club. Outstanding. Pretty dope French cuisine. They lose a star for no creme brulee! Very friendly service, great wine and atsmosphere Expensive af but worth it.
Visit after making a reservation a week in advance. Friendly guide & most of the staff are also very friendly! The food was also delicious, and seeing as they had kimchi gratin, it seems like this restaurant targets Asians. More than 70% of the tables are Korean. 20% Chinese. It felt like 10% local. The aperitif bread was delicious, so I ate it well, but the female server asked if she could bring me more, so I asked, Could we get more? I responded, and when I looked at the billing details, I saw a $10 charge! Of course, it was delicious, but if there was an extra charge, I probably wouldnt have eaten it... ! I enjoyed the kimchi gratin and saloin, but I dont recommend the escargot! It has no taste and the quantity is small!
Beautiful place
Ate at Hubert as part of small function. Great service. Food was also excellent. The chicken was delicious.
I love the style. I am sure I will be back!
This is one of my favourite restaurants to come eat. Love all the share dishes! This place is a must try. French flavours and a good atmosphere. The customer service is amazing too.
Extremely popular restaurant. Got a table after half an hour (walk-in after 8pm) on a Saturday. Seated near the bar. Pretty restaurant, dimly lit and very noisy. Ordered the escargot and duck liver parfait. Came with baguette - very nice. It s much nicer to be seated on the other side near the live band (been there previously and that was a much better location) so I ll remember to book ahead of time next time!
Nice vide and food
This place is truly special. Down in a basement in the heart of Sydney cbd. The food, the service, the ambience. All on point. I highly recommend especially for a romantic dinner.
I was worried because they said there were only Koreans, but there are a lot... But the food, atmosphere, and service are all good, so its worth it. Its a bit pricey, but I highly recommend it!
The food and atmosphere were really nice! All of our foods nicely cooked especially the sirlion and pommes anna! Highly recommend!
We ve been wanting to go here and finally had a chance after 2 years living in Sydney. I understand the hype now as food is excellent - not overrated at all. We got a bar seating, we were served by Nicholas and another bartender (we didn t get his name). They are so friendly and Nicholas was happy to made me an orange juice as i don t really drink . My partner got a free drink and they said it s for a farewell drink
exorcism
Wow My Nephew and his girlfriend took us to Huberts Lost for words The best fine dining restaurant I have been, Live Jazz band playing background With dark and romantic setting I can t fault this place The food was amazing The server explained every dish that was the table I recommend this place, a must to go if you are in Sydney
Classic , lovely night jazz
After finishing our concert, we often struggle to find a decent restaurant that s still open, but Hubert is always there for us. They stay open late, which is quite rare, and the food is far from just casual it s a high-quality dining experience. The French cuisine is some of the best I ve had in Sydney, and the staff are unbelievably kind and welcoming. I m so happy we have Hubert, and it s now one of my favorite places to go!
The food is too salty The atmosphere is good
This place is the best French restaurant in town. The staff is super friendly and they have amazing wine. Its perfect for a romantic night out or getting together with family. P.S. Perfect for those who love listening to jazz songs.
Excellent vibe, great food and best service. Loved it
Amazing service and atmosphere. Food was exceptional although would ve loved to have slightly larger portions - $30 for 6 escargots is a little disappointing compared to their competitor The Little Snail Bar and Restaurant .
You have to go and see for yourself Amazing! Food
It was a great place with the best atmosphere, service, and taste. Thank you for making it an unforgettable day~
This place is truly amazing... 100,000 stars arent enough lol Everyone, please stop by and try the snail dish, have a glass of wine, and enjoy some jazz The servers are really kind too
This place is outstanding! The food, the service and the atmosphere are all five stars! Food - duck parfait, snails, and wagyu steak were the highlights! Best French restaurant I ve been to in Australia. We will be back next time we re in Sydney.
Very good food and service
We had a great time and fantastic food, loved the atmosphere and music.
Best restaurant in Sydney in my opinion. Been to Mimi s, Armorica, bambini etc and no other restaurant in Sydney has the character or unique ambience this establishment has. Perfect date night spot for a special occasion. However I wish the management could implement a dress code. Classy place like this should require a formal/ semi formal dress code. Hate seeing people in hoodies and track pants and slides looking like they are going for a late night Kmart run while other people are dressed appropriately and match the setting. It s a mood killer and a dress code should be required. Other then that best place
During my short vacation in sydney I We recently dined at a restaurant Hubert . The experience was exceptional, marked by delicious cuisine and a welcoming atmosphere The food so delicious and impeccable service, and a family-friendly environment. I highly recommend it for a memorable dining experience. It was my first time french cuisine in Sydney
Absolutely phenomenal. A must.
Wow, just wow!!!
Such a shame to have had such a disappointing meal at Huberts to celebrate a special family occasion. Having eaten a delicious meal there before I was concerned when the previously exquisite butter tasted completely rank. I was treated to a lecture on French butter and then very rude and unpleasant service for the rest of the evening, to the point where we decided to skip the birthday dessert and leave altogether. Ridiculous behaviour for a professional waiter, a spoiled night and a huge waste of money.
#1 in Sydney,, I really want to recommend it to everyone. It has the best taste and the best kindness
Food was amazing and the service was great. Best dish of the night was the pate.
The atmosphere is really nice... but the server here snorts because he doesnt give tips. Since I didnt order the main dish from the first time I ordered, he made a sad face and responded by saying, I should have ordered the main course, but I said Im full, so Ill look at it. Its so absurd that they immediately laughed in front of me when I clicked no tip when paying... . We ordered kimchi gratin, french fries, cream caramel, 1 wine glass, and 1 draft beer. Please note.
I ordered kimchi gratin and steak and both were delicious. However, I wasnt happy because the waiter forgot to order and my order came in 30 minutes late. If you order a drink and it doesnt come out within 10 minutes, call the waiter. 10000% of the orders did not go through.
I arrived without a reservation and they passed the responsibility from one to another to see who would serve me. After waiting to be seated (with free seats) for over ten minutes, I went to another location.
Excellent experience in Sydney. Vibe was great and the band was very cool. Waitstaffs are all very helpful and friendly. Definitely will go again
recently went for my wedding anniversary lunch. place was superb, food is 10 out of 10, service is top notch. the jazz music really lift up the ambience.
Restaurant Hubert was an amazing experience! The atmosphere, staff and music combine to create a wonderful place to relax and enjoy some amazing food.
Hubert was always my favorite place in Sydney and it has been awhile not to visit but the place is same as before. Beef Tartare was excellent- crispy chips are brilliant idea to serve with. Wine was nice and ambience is always the best! I will come back for the live music!
I was taken here by my brother and sister-in-law for my birthday and it was really a premier dining experience. The food was great (a novel experience trying escargot), the wine menu was well-designed and the staff were fantastic. The atmosphere is exactly right for this type of dining experience; fun, warm and low-key.
life jazz bar I felt like I was inside a La La Land jazz bar, and there were definitely a lot of Koreans. Half of the customers seemed to be Korean hahahahahahahahahahaha I think it has the sensibility and atmosphere that can satisfy Korean people. I made a reservation for 9:15, and it wasnt difficult to get a reservation, but if youre going to see the jazz bar, I recommend making a reservation in time for the performance. When I looked around, there were people leaving because they had to make room for them before the performance started, and their eyes looked very sad...
What an atmosphere, for those that enjoy their French cuisine its a known highlight in Sydney.
Oh. My. God. One of the best experiences of my life with live jazz music. Very attentive staff members and they surprisingly had halal options.
It feels like urging me to get out quickly.
There was a deadline of when we had to leave, due to them closely booking us to another party and due to this we were unable to order desert due to the time crunch. Food and service were good.
I previously came here 2 years ago and liked it a lot, but Im sad to say it wasnt nearly as good of an experience this time. I was shuttled into the overflow bar area. I asked whether I could get dinner but wasnt told it was a limited menu. I thought it was odd there were no good vegetable dishes on that menu. I ordered the steak frites and a mocktail. The mocktail was great and probably the best thing. The steak fries were fine but had an enormous strip of gristle running through the middle. Surprising given the dish was $55. The amount of fries was generous but too much. I left over half. There was a group of overserved women screaming constantly while I was there, which in the small overflow space is awful. The bar staff seemed to be overwhelmed and like they were all new. In my short time there, they broke about 4 glasses including directly in front of me into the sink with ice in it. So I then got to listen and watch to the drama unfolding before me as they had to change out all the ice and search for broken glass. Also took forever to get the check. I thought I was going to have a nice French meal listening to jazz, and this was just about the farthest experience from that.
Delicious food and amazing atmosphere. The staff were so kind and so helpful with the menu. The food was really tasty and the jazz band added such a nice touch to the dining experience. The gruyere soufflé was the yummiest thing I ve had. Would definitely come back again! Food
The food was really great. Amazing work done by the chefs. The one wait staff however could learn not to hover over people whilst finishing their food. We understand there was a 2 hour seating as mentioned in the booking, the 4 other staff who mentioned it on the way in. Overall was a really awkward experience with the gentleman there but definitely could improve on not rushing people out during meals when theyre aware of the deadline.
Food was proper fakn crackaaaa

We had our Anniversary Dinner here and it was amazing! The ambience was incredible as soon as you entered. You walk down a sophisticated stairway to enter the restaurant. As we arrived at the reservations desk, they handed us an anniversary card (actually a special events congratulations card) which was super nice. The food was incredible, my wife who doesn t generally like steak fell in love with it here. They know how to make high quality food. The service was impeccable as well. We were also dined with live jazz which definitely added to the ambience. Definitely not a cheap restaurant but definitely worth spoiling yourself on a special occasion for. Highly recommend trying this place!
Always a fancy, cozy, beautiful fine dining place to go to enjoy live jazz music with family and friends. We are in love with theor duck parfait. The staff was also friendly and did very quick service. Could be a long wait if you dont make a booking. The happy hour menu is really good. If you have chance make sure to get this one from 5-6pm only as you can enjoy some fancy finger and bar food in very good price. However, I didnt know the sparkling water costs $8/bottle so it was a bit expensive to me. Anyway, definitely a must try.
An abosulte must when you are in Sydney.
It was worth the effort to make a reservation. It was so good~ You should definitely go there sometime..
Wow. What can I say. What an amazing restaurant. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive throughout our dinner and didnt miss a beat when it came to filling our wine glasses and clearing our table. The highlight of our dinner was the live Jazz music, the dimly lit atmosphere and the passionfruit soufflè (we would have ordered a 2nd one if we werent so full!!). The restaurant also gave us a card for our anniversary which made our night even more special and memeroable. Definitely recommend Restaurant Hubert to everyone and we will definitely be back.
A delightful experience with fantastic food, live jazz and attentive service. We thoroughly enjoyed the oysters, duck parfait, mushroom au poivre, and rib eye cote de boeuf. For cocktails, the negroni and absinthe frappe did not disappoint. Food : 5/5
Food and service are hard to beat in Sydney at the moment. The only improvement I could offer is the resident musicians are a little too loud, making conversation at the table a little difficult Food : 5/5
The food and ambience are excellent. But Hubert could really work on their service. I have asked for the tea menu at the start of the service. The waiter laughed it off and said he will get back to me. He came back to our table four times and not once did he give me their list of tea available. If there s no tea available , just say so. You would think if they have time to do a line out back. They would have time to serve the customers properly
Atmosphere music food everything is perfect Recommended to order several dishes and enjoy them with alcohol.
Everything was on point! The vibes were so chill, live jazz band. Really good for date nights! So many wine options! I can t get over w their cheese soufflé!
Theres a reason its popular. The performances, the food, everything was perfect.
Great live jazz music, beautiful meal and fantastic service - Luigi was attentive and looked after us. The steak was unbelievably tender, even though we cooked half of it very well done for my pregnant wife. All other condiments packed plenty of flavour. Will definitely come here again. Make sure you book well in advance as it hard to get a table.
Great lunch!
Nice atmosphere not too formal and great jazz band and delicious food especially the whole chicken and the pate. The tartine de pommes for dessert was delicious and their butter and bread and saucisson sec was the best. Expect to pay $120+ per person
I love this place. It s always a 10/10 for me. Amazing team and the service is fantastic.
Excellent service, fun and v interesting atmosphere, delicious food. Definitely come here!
Service is good. Food a bit strong for me - a bit salty. Romantic atmosphere surrounds you - candlelight dinner jazz live band. Recommended for couples dinner.
Great atmosphere and dining experience. Food was great and service, prompt. Live jazz is the cherry on top.
Great atmosphere with the live music, although it can be loud so might not suit everyone. Quality of the food and the service are always consistent. The steak is a favourite.
Exceptional experience
Ordered the staple (escargo) which I thought was quite good. Ive been to Paris before so I think it held up with the ones I tried there. The restaurant was a bit dark and noisy but I think that was intentional. Service was great and friendly. Throughly enjoyed my time here!
Incredible food and lovely atmosphere. I do love everything about this place, except the maître de on Sunday night was not particularly friendly or welcoming which you d think are pretty important attributes for that role.
Hubert made a reservation in advance! I went at 9:30, just in time for the evening performance! Everyone said the steak was delicious, so maybe I was expecting too much and it was a bit dry? (This is my standard) I liked the kimchi gratin because it tasted like Korea haha. The atmosphere is awesome! Haha. Its a place worth visiting at least once! Make a reservation and go!
My first time dine in here and won t be my last. The ambiance, the food and the service was great. And also for the first time I tried the escargot and I really like it.
The jazz was good, but it felt very subservient. The performance was really good, but the sound of people talking was so loud that I had a hard time concentrating. This may be because it is not a jazz bar.
After a couple of issues with the starter and the timing of the main course, Sarah the floor manager turned it around and made it a spectacular night. Definitely found a new favourite.
Thanks for a fantastic lunch and our first experience at Huberts. We will be back!
Staff are friendly. Its dark so its a little hard to see the menu. When I requested a wine suitable for sirloin steak, they very kindly thought about it with me. Mushroom dish is simple but delicious! Calculate at the table! Kid-friendliness: Children allowed
Always consistently amazing. Food was impeccable, service was top notch, and atmosphere and ambience was perfect.
Food, Service, Atmosphere and Music at Restaurant Hubert were all Out of This World. What a romantic evening I got to enjoy with my partner - live Jazz music, impeccable service with a smile and a stunning array of flavourful dishes. We started the evening with Pardon my French and the Whiskey Sour, both beverages stimulating and unique in their own ways. The Cod with a classic French béarnaise sauce was so delicate - definitely the best fish dish weve ever had at a Western restaurant. The Sirloin with bone marrow butter was also delightfully umami and tender. The Gruyere Souffle is a must-try dish - never have we ever enjoyed such a deeply cheesy souffle with a beautiful crusty top. Dont get me started about the desserts. The creme caramel was a dream - a simple dessert, yet, wonderfully smooth and silky. Last but not least, was the sinfully delicious Hubert Gateau. Such a luxurious and indulgent classic French dessert, layered with a chocolate-double mousse filling. One piece was not near enough.
I think I will visit again when I come to Sydney again! Everything is great! Everyone was so friendly The meat was delicious too! Why baguettes? The butter is really salty so I think there will be a lot of likes and dislikes. I was satisfied with the French fries.
A nice place to go listen to some live jazz. They play ~50 minute sets every hour and 20 minutes or so. Very expensive food though.
We love the whole Huberts experience - every time we go. It is consistently excellent - the food, the ambience, the music and the service.
The staff were very friendly and the restaurant had a great atmosphere! I went there during lunch and they were playing jazz, and I was lucky enough to hear the performance right in front of me. Personally, the sirloin steak was more delicious, and eating it with the kimchi gratin was good as it took away the greasiness.
The atmosphere at this restaurant is unique, and the food is outstanding. I highly recommend starting with the Escargot (Snails) and Pommes Anna (Layered Potato) as a side. The Sirloin steak is exceptional, the Murray Cod Vin Jaune is delicious, and the Chocolate Bar for dessert is to die for. However, the restaurant falls short in delivering a true jazz experience. Unlike renowned venues like Ronnie Scott s Jazz Club in London, where famous jazz artists engage with the audience, this place doesn t quite capture that authentic vibe especially since the band here plays a few pieces and then takes a break. Additionally, some of the staff can come across as a bit arrogant, which detracts from the overall experience. That said, despite its shortcomings as a jazz venue, the culinary experience here is truly worth it. The quality of the food and the unique atmosphere make it a place worth visiting. Be sure to book in advance to secure a table.
Perfect for group gatherings , it was worth it .
Good Very nice Food
Really very good and tasty food, the best we have had in Sydney. Everything is tasty and made with top quality ingredients.
This is a restaurant you have to experience at least once. Not only is the food spectacular, but the service is immaculate, and the ambience is to die for. Honestly? Book a table just for the jazz band that plays every night. They were killer.
This is a great live restaurant. The food was delicious and the passionate jazz performance was satisfying. I visited on my birthday, and the small congratulations I received warmed my heart.
Came here at 4:55pm for happy hour and waited in line. They sat people infront of me, their friends did not come until 30mins later. They should really sit people when the whole party is present because it s just wasting our time when we came here on time for the happy hour Food
Highly recommended, food, drinks, service and vibe are perfect Love the layered potatos Food
Great food, well-balanced, and a great vibe. It is a very intimate setting for special occasions.
So delicious! We particularly loved the duck liver parfait and pommes anna. But everything else we had (escargot, gruyère soufflé. beef bourginon, kimchi gratin, crème caramel, passion fruit soufflé) was delicious, too. The vibes were great. Loved the live music! Wonderful service.
Amazing place to visit, wonderful food, great atmosphere, attentive staff and live music while you eat. Loved every minute of it.
It was our first time trying Hubert for our anniversary and it could not have been any better. Definitely the aesthetic and live jazz music of the restaurant played an important role in making our experience so memorable. The service was spot on and all the staff were super friendly and professional. Lastly and most importantly, the food and dessert were absolutely epic and sensational!! Hands down one of the most delicious meals that I had in a while. Definitely coming back and would recommend it to whoever is looking for quality foods and drinks.
The happiest birthday of my life. I will never forget the night in Sydney where I had dinner while feeling like I was in a movie... But I went there because it was my birthday, and there were some people who got gifts and some who didnt, so it seems like it was a mixed bag, right?
The food and staff at this restaurant are next level amazing. Ive wanted to visit for a long time and it did not disappoint. FYI the food is very rich so take advice from staff when ordering and definitely share dishes.
Even though I arrived a little later than the reservation time, they kindly guided me. Crazy atmosphere. good music. Crazy amount and quality of food. The best French restaurant in Sydney. For 2 people, we ordered 3 dishes, wine and beer, and it came to about $170, but if you choose the menu well, it can be reasonably priced.
You wait two months for a table and then the waiters do everything to make you leave quickly. Besides it is the first place where they touch my phone
Awesome atmosphere, great steak taste. Great performance. Perfection However, do not eat goose mousse. Its disgusting. (Still, the waiter took it off the price list )
Very intimate placevto have cocktails and listen to some jazz
Sensational experience. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. cant wait to get back and experience more that Huberts has to offer.
Jeremy was the most amazing host!!! If you can ask for him
Flawless experience.
The food is expensive and a bit salty, but its delicious and the atmosphere is great!!
Best in Sydney, deserves a star honestly , would fit in Paris easily
The atmosphere is great and I was drawn in from the entrance! What you need to know! There is a tip box when paying. As you know, there is no tipping culture in Australia, and usually when you go to other restaurants in Australia, the staff will click no tip and pass to the card tab calculation screen. But here, they just open up the tip box and hand it out haha~ We didnt make any special request, and we didnt think we received the same service as at a regular restaurant where we would give a tip, so we clicked on the no tip box and the male server said Haha in an outrageous tone. He shouted very loudly and his attitude changed :) I felt something very subtle, but the atmosphere was very good! The food was also great to enjoy French flavors! Make your own decision~~
Great good served with a cool vibe and friendly and efficient wait staff. To top it off the jazz elevates the whole experience. I am not surprised that it is difficult to secure a booking.
