Amazing Greek taverna offering amazing food. Lamb cutlets are to die for. The owner, authentic Greek, is friendly and has a great personality. Highly recommend. Visited 18th and 19th Dec 2024, from malaga, Spain.

We re there for team lunch. Good was not bad, and it was hard to get attention from staff but they re polite. But we sat outside and it was WAY too noisy and dusty.

We went as a family of varying ages. The service and food were amazing. The owner learnt that it was my birthday and provided a complimentary dessert with a sparkler. He also gave my mum a gift of Greek confectionery. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience, and we would definitely go again.

Finally a Greek restaurant that is not just limited to traditional dishes and other excellent mezze from elsewhere. It s high-level gastronomy, I recommend Exohico (lamb) with a sublime reduction and the Xifias (sworfish). Be careful, hearty but refined dish. Unavoidable

Just had our second feast at Medusa Greek Taverna, and I m starting to think they might be witches with how they ve bewitched my taste buds! The service was smoother than a Greek love ballad, and the food was so incredible I almost tried to take a bath in it. Hats off to the chef and the whole team you ve got us hooked! If you haven t checked this place out yet, your taste buds are missing out on the adventure of a lifetime!

We had a show to see at 8 pm at state theatre we turned up at restaurant at 7 pm. They sorted a table and bought our meal out promptly so we didn t miss our show.great service and food was very nice would definitely go back again .

We were a party of 4 and opted for the signature feast. The food was faultless and the flavours were on point. Portion sizes were very decent too. Probably one of the best Greek food I have tried to date.

Authentic good quality Greek food

Came here for a birthday lunch with a party of 9pax. Service was decent but food was too greasy, regardless how subjective it may be for the cuisine. It was also quite bland, lacked flavours across all dishes in the banquet unfortunately. Located in the CBD, close to offices and town hall station. Also single cubicle bathroom makes it quite inconvenient for busy periods. During office hours appears to be quite a popular venue. Wouldnt be rushing back...

3.5 stars. Tried the banquet menu and it was okay for $80pp. The highlights include the flatbreads & the chicken souvlaki. It gets a bit noisy and crowded inside and the service could use a bit more warmth but otherwise, a good experience.

Great location and nice view in cbd area. Very exciting menu with different dishes. We tried most of the famous and unique greek foods and they all tasted well and nice. One of the must to go greek restaurants in Sydney. Don t forget to taste the desserts too.

This place requires booking, I guarantee they cannot take walk ins on Saturday because of how busy they are! I dined with 2 and we spent around $156. We ordered exohiko, feta with honey, spanikopita and prawns with bread. For dessert, I pointed to a picture of bougatsa, and the waitress served us the coconut ravani cake.. but other than that, the service was very nice- they poured us water and switched our plates regularly! The feta, spanikopita and prawns were delicious! The exohiko was alright, the lamb and filo were delicious but the sauces didnt really pair well- but thats not the restuarants fault. Overall, I recommend this restuarant! The food is good, service is nice and the atmosphere is very nice aswell.

Best Greek in a long time. Food was delicious, we had the banquet for 59 and were beyond full (had to get doggy bags). Service was quick and friendly and the place was buzzing on a random Tuesday night. Well be back

This is a rare gem - great food, great ambience and great service. The portion sizes are great too, we all had to get takeaway boxes, had the leftover for lunch the next day so great value! If youre planning a friends / family gathreing over a nice meal, you cant go wrong with Medusa Greek Taverna. Theres a good reason this restaurant has been around for as long as I can remember! P.s. For the main, I ordered the Kotopoulo tis Santorinis, it was DELICIOUS.

A well run Greek restaurant that won t disappoint. Food (which is why we re here) is very well presented and importantly has a great taste. Worth visiting time again. And I doubt Peter is ready for retirement!

The first time I dined here (2 couples) was remarkable, to say the least. Everything was on point, and not a thing could be faulted. This time for my fiances birthday (13 of us) it was a little disappointing. The service was great, the atmosphere was great, however the food this time was not that great. Lamb shoulder was bland and seamed somewhat boiled, mousakka had far too much of one spice(cinnamon)in it, and very little flavour apart from that spice. Im not sure if the chef had changed or what happened, but between the first time and this time, something has gone wrong. I hope I can give 5 stars all around sometime.

Hardly any options for vegetarians

After reading the great reviews on Medusa we had to try this gorgeous place, fabulous family owned restaurant for over 18 years. The restaurant is really lovely, clean and beautifully decorated, loved the Greek music too. We were so impressed with the warm and welcoming staff. We were the first to arrive for lunch but the restaurant filled quickly and it was obvious many patrons had been here before, always a good sign. We ordered the prawns and scallops in a creamy chilli sauce which was a sensational dish. Would have loved to have tried the Medusa dessert but the serving sizes are so generous we just could not! We will definitely be returning to this gem in the city to sample more delicious dishes. Highly recommended.

Kitchen closed at 8.45pm is this a restaurant or should you not be a Cafe Incident on the rail network delayed by two hours but still got there only to find out the kitchen closed already There wouldn t be a restaurant in a one donkey town in Greece that closes its kitchen at 8.45 in the middle of summer Sydney a world class city

Just arrived at Sydney and this place was highly recommended on Google and it definitely lived up to the expectations! Was a lovely way to spend our first evening in Australia. Excellent food and excellent service. If I lived here it would definitely become one of my regular go to places! Can recommend the fava with the pita bread, the lamb cutlets and moussaka. The special menu also had some excellent different choices we had never tried before.

Rude

I went to Medusa for a team lunch and sadly had a bad experience. We arrived to the restaurant to enjoy lunch (8 people) sat down and decided what to order (the lunch set menu). The waiter came in and when we were about to order, a gentleman (assuming the owner/admin of the venue) reached out and said we could not place the order because all our group was not in yet and this was inconvenient for the kitchen. When I asked him why was that, this gentleman, in a very rude manner, replied this just would not work for them and the kitchen. I was extremely surprised, but then suddenly he seemed to realised what he suggested was odd and then accepted we place the order. However, he started to demand us to move and sit in certain spots of the table, so we were able to enjoy the set menu (once again in a very rude manner). We indicated we did not want to sit in that corner of the table as there was a very cold fan running and he rolled eyes at us and went to turn off the fan. Once again came back to demand we moved to certain places in the table with a very rude attitude. After all this, the environment got very uncomfortable and we decided to leave. Sadly cant comment on the food as we never got to it. Not coming back! Stay away if you want to be treated respectfully and enjoy a fun lunch time with your team!

Went to dinner with a friend of mine here who was new to the cuisine and we both really enjoyed it. Definitely want to come here again to try out more of the menu! We had a good time at the restaurant. Had authentic atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was ok. Had a diverse traditional menu, but the execution of some of the dishes couldve been better - e.g. the main was a bit too oily, and some of the items from the meze platter tasted as warmed canned food from Coles. However the greek salad was good and che chicken was juissy. I would visit again.

Food always nice, but cant have a conversation due to the noise.

Took one guest with some colleagues. Starter was good. But the main course (lamb and chicken) was too salty. When inquired about it, owner / manager told that lime was too strong . Anyhow they gave us a bottle of free wine. But that doesnt change the issue of over salty food.

Putting four stars as an encouragement but I wasn t swept off my feet. Had a business trip early dinner and decided to go for moussakas and a glass of ouzo. While the main tasted good, I am still looking for the aubergines in all the travels I made to Greece, the dish had plenty of aubergines and just a few potatoes at the bottom as a base here it was mostly potatoes with a lone aubergine on top so the taste was definitely not the one I was looking for The ouzo was nice and reasonably priced, but was for some reason served in the tiniest of glasses with a couple of ice cubes. Anyone who tasted ouzo will appreciate that you probably would want to have a slightly bigger recipient to top off with chilled water if so desired as it s pretty strong as is. Time and again I ve also seen the beverage served surrounded by ice cubes to keep it chilled but avoid additional further dilution due to melting once mixed as desired. Staff was quite diligent when asked to remedy though. You however wish they showed more initiative as the owner had to chip in too often in my humble opinion. A pleasant experience overall.

Delicious! We ordered the prawn and scallop pasta and lamb shoulder which were both amazing. The lamb fell off the bone it was so tender. We also had the spanakopita for starters which were very tasty. Portions were generous and left very full.

I left hungry. The banquet was underdone and yes we did identify to your team the issues with overcooked octopus, which was separate to the banquet. For our Yiayia to say would never go back there is telling something about your portion sizes.

Modern bright and inviting restaurant serving good quality, well presented tasty food. The quantities are generous and the options are wide ranging. Service is pleasant, professional and unrushed. We were there for lunch on a Monday and it was 80% full so probably advisable to book. Wine options are quite good and include retsina.

Overpriced. Ordered a souvlaki: fries were oily and undercooked. Lamp was bland. Lamb portion small given the price. A greek would be outraged. Ended up going to a zeus gyros shop for half the price as was still hungry.

We had the pleasure attending the most AMAZING Greek taverna right in the heart of Sydney. The staff are very attentive, friendly, welcoming and helpful when it was very difficult to make a decision on all the meals. Easy to choose for me, I went with the PAITHAKIA, marinated lamb cutlets with lemon potatoes and tzatziki. WOW! Attending a very well established premises I will admit I did eat the meat off the bone and didn t regret it one bit. Newcastle would adore a restaurant like this and the hospitality to match. I recently attended a team dinner featuring a set menu of Greek cuisine, and I must say, the main courses of Lamb and Vegetarian Moussaka were absolutely exceptional. Without a doubt, I highly recommend this restaurant for any team event or dinner with friends!

Came back to Medusa after 4 years and the food were still delicious and the service was fantastic. Taramosalata and Garithes Saganaki entrees were the stars of all our dishes.

What a wonderful meal we had at Medusa tonight, the staff, the food and the ambience was all on point! We indulged in the banquet, it was amazing, so much flavour in every dish and the amount of food is very generous. We def will be coming again soon and bringing the family and friends with us. A superb family owned and run Greek restaurant. The tables have tableCLOTHS, the napkins are COTTON, the cutlery and glasses are CLEAN, the atmosphere is warm, welcoming and relaxed and the food is beautifully presented and extremely tasty. Highly recommended.

Food very salty and so was management. Paid for food on phone and used wrong card. Immediately asked to redo the transaction and told they wouldn t. Would not recommend and over rated.

Weve been going there for about 15 years and the food and service is always good. We are adventurists and like variety so weve tried most of the dishes and they are all good even though we do have a few favourites. They also have a specials offering that changes just to make sure you dont get too set in your ways. Weve also taken friends who have also enjoyed the food and service and have gone back after. Good variety to cater to all palates.

I have been a regular diner at Medusa since the day it opened years ago. The food has always been extremely reliable - you get a top class meal for a reasonable price. I ordered the Arni Souvlaki which was a very generously proportioned main course. The lamb was beautifully cooked and the sides were generous.

Staff are super friendly and welcoming. It s like going to a huge Greek family dinner. Got the banquet and it was sensational; absolutely enormous, bloody delicious; timing was perfect and so was the food. This place is on the money in every respect. 100% recommend. Be careful because you ll be rolling home if you get the banquet. If the food doesn t look good in the photos blame my photography.

We attended this resturdant after Melbourne cup (sober, just looking for a good dinner as our lunch wasnt filling enough), we were greeted by a rather grumpy older man who told us that as we didnt have a booking we had to sit outside, this was fine but when we asked if we could have the outdoor heater turned off, we were yelled out and told no, it was 30 degrees at 6pm... We sat down, the waitress was super nice, helpful and promptly took our order. About 15 minutes in, we asked a waiter if he could turn the heater off as we were all melting, he turned it off and went back inside only to be abused by the older man for turning it off. We got our food and it was great however through-out the night, I watched the older man abuse almost every single person on the waitstaff while sitting outside of the resturant but facing the main counter, it made me sick. When it came time to pay, we asked if we could split the bill in half and the older man came out with the eftpost machine, he was incredibly rude, borderline abusive. Told us to work out the amounts as he wasnt going to do it, I told him that we did not appreciate the way he had spoken to his waitstaff or to us as paying customers and he should be a bit more appreciative for our business despite the fact that we didnt have a reservation. He was rude boardline abusive and we left. He needs to retire... or I really hope the waitstaff quit and find a better place to work. Its all really a shame because the food is great but the service and attitude is horrendous... Never again.

We had our work Christmas party here recently. There were 24 of us and we ordered the banquet shared menu. It was absolutely fantastic. Food was impeccable and the service was outstanding. I think they normally close at 3pm to get ready for dinner service, but we were there until about 4pm and they let us stick around until we had finished our drinks. Would highly recommend this amazing restaurant! I will be back for sure.

Excellent meals, perfect location and the wait staff were legends. Would recommend for a party or function or just to dine in.

I have been visiting this restaurant for many years. The food is always very good, mains are large and the wine list is good with some good value wines.

Great venue with awesome food

Nice place to have greek food. We had backlava, quesadillas, pita bread and various dips, chips, greek salad. Food was tasty.

The food was delicious. The service was excellent. Very friendly and the atmosphere was great. Not to mention the fireworks display at 9pm. Will definitely go again and I highly recommend it. Food : 5/5

Based on all the positive google reviews, we spontaneously decided to dine here on a Wednesday evening. Arriving at 5.30pm, we were one of the first guests for the evening and were happily seated without a booking. I loved the clean and modern interior. It s a cosy restaurant with high ceilings, fairy lights wrapped around wooden frames and white tablecloths. The waitstaff were attentive and friendly. We were very full from the two entrees, main and bottle of red wine. I would highly recommend all the dishes and hope to try the dessert next time

Was not sure what to expect here, but found an interesting mix of traditional Greek and fish dishes. Swordfish with prawns marinated in lime chilli and honey sauce was superb (and a large portion). Well worth a visit.

Food is great but service was rude (our only crime was declining the offer for wine). Also, the noise inside was absolutely impossible. So - your choice

The chicken souvlaki was amazing. It was popping with colour (gotta say it was the best looking plate in the whole table). The chicken was moist with just the right amount of charring. Taste wonderful, too. I was quite full after the spread of entrees, but cant stop eating the chicken. (Sorry no photos since I was too busy digging in.) Everyone seems to be happy with their food (after a few jealous glances toward my plate and another who ordered the same). The desserts (baklava and coconut ravani) were too sweet for me, but most desserts on general are too sweet for me.

Excellent Greek restaurant, its become my favourite Greek restaurant in Sydney, food and service I cant fault it, 5 stars!
