Was here with an Indian friend who recommended it. The food was good, service friendly.

As a international visitor, this was the best place we found. Went there two days in a row. Food taste really good. Service was really good. Little pricey but worth every penny. Clean. Great vibes. Highly recommend. Loved it. Vegetarian options: Kadai paneer, vegetarian bariyani

The taste was extremely disappointing, and to make matters worse, I found a hair strand in my chicken piece. I was appalled by the lack of an apology for this unacceptable situation. When I went to pay, the staff nonchalantly informed me that they hadn t charged me for the dish with the hair, but this hardly made up for the poor experience I endured. Additionally, I found it off-putting when the staff mentioned they cater to a specific target audience, which only added to the feeling of being unwelcome. Overall, this experience did not meet my expectations at all.

Had a lovely experience here last night. The food was totally delicious. Our favourite was the semolina prawns and butter chicken.

Wonderful place with delicious fulfilling food and great service. The team were all really lovely and happy to help with all our requests. Hasi was incredibly helpful and accommodating, both in taking our booking over the phone and in person. Definitely recommend! Kid-friendliness: They offer high chairs, and kindly stored the pram out of the way for us. Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible, steps leading down into the restaurant.

Great food and service

My friends and I visited this restaurant two weeks ago for the first time. I can say that the overall experience was fine. The place was spacious, and they had a nice Diwali theme for decoration. But the food experience was disappointing. I have been to many Indian restaurants, and compared to those, the biryani here was the worst. The rice was too watery, and there was no real flavor to it. The portion size for all the dishes were smaller than other places. It is completely acceptable but even the taste wasnt great. We ordered Pani Puri, Paneer Takatak, Lasooni Dal Tadka, Classic Naan, Malai Soya Chap, Chicken Dum Biryani, and Rasmalai. The only things we liked were the Pani Puri and Lasooni Dal Tadka. Everything else was just okay. I am not sure if its overrated, but for me and my friends, it did not live up to expectations. Maybe its just not our type.

Amazing food, really attentive staff. Highly recommend! Love the touch of Indian Bollywood music and we really appreciated the music being at the volume it was. The gulab jamun is delicious!! We got the non veg banquet and it was definitely worth the price!

Everything we ordered was wonderful. The kebabs are some of the juiciest you will ever have. Great service, great ambiance, and food that absolutely delivers. Make sure you come hungry.

Great food and service! They can do better with cleanliness maybe, the floor was really sticky and we had to change two tables to finally get to a clean one.

Its a restaurant in a basement....very stuffy. The prices are on a higher side, but the portion sizes are too small.

One of the best Indian food so far in Sydney

Tucked underneath the city streets, The Grand Palace is an oasis of great service, excellent food and an overall wonderful experience. Would recommend them to anybody who was looking for somewhere to eat in Sydney, there was nothing to fault or criticise.

Group of 4 of us went here for pre show meal on Saturday 16/11/24. It was the 2nd time Ive eaten here and both times have been a joy. The food served is wonderful. Ive not been to India so cant comment on how authentic it is but it is definately worth a visit. Lost 1 star as the service for a 5.30 visit was a little sluggush but it may have been because it was so early in dinner service. definately recommend TGP.

Horrible goat parda biriyani which was recommended by the staff . It was bland , oily , and lacked seasoning. It took them more than 15 mins to come to my table to take my order ,I had to call them several times , maybe they are under staffed bcz I could only see 2 people. Its located underground, so the ambience is not that great. I went there reading through all the great reviews... Not sure how anyone liked this place, Did I try the wrong dish ?? Maybe. Well folks if you read through my review I will like to suggest an alternative place that is The spice room , awesome place with delicious food and hospitable staff.

Great food and service, but they need to consider their environment in which their customers dine..1, the AC is set too cold & blows directly into peoples necks 2, the lighting in the restaurant is way too bright 3, those heavy chairs being pulled back & forth on the floor are way too loud!

I got the chicken tikki masala and it was the most spicy Indian food I ve ever had. It was so spicy that we couldn t even eat half of it. It might have been good, but making it so spicy ruined it. In the end, we only ate half the meal because it was just so miserable to eat. Sweating, running nose, etc, and normally I like spicy food. Didn t come with white rice or anything rather so just know you have to pay extra for that.

Your chef , staff , food , amazing

Every time I come to Sydney, I will make time to have dinner or lunch here . Every time they surprise me with the taste. I am a vegetarian and would say their chefs special broccoli starte r is one the best starters I ate both healthy and tasty. Veg Handi biryani is also my favourite . One of the worst dining place in syndey the biryani is the worst you could ever have . The staff is very less considerate they dont even provide a proper service and very low food quality and worst taste . Such a bad customer experience. Highly disappointed.

If we could, we would leave 0 stars. We went 10/07. The restaurant is underground, and the atmosphere is claustrophobic with loud music and can overall be best described as dungeon-esque. We overlooked this as we thought perhaps this was a very traditional Indian setting. Once seated, we ignored the hole in the table and the fact that we had to ask for new plates as the ones on the table had dried food and fingerprint stains all over them. Even the new plates were not fully clean but we regretfully ignored this. In hindsight we should have left right then. We really tried to enjoy our experience as at first the servers were welcoming. We ordered pani puri, chicken tikka masala and lamb shank masala + 2saffron rice as well as a classic virgin mocktail. The pani puri was underwhelming, we did not finish what was served of it. The lamb shank masala: The curry was thick from the amount of spice poured in it. The mouth feel was somehow clumpy, powdery and greasy all at once. The meat was way too overpowered by something that tasted like bay leaf. It instantly made us feel sick. Then the chicken tikka masala was better than the lamb shank, but for a fine dining restaurant, it was 2/10 at most. We asked for it to be more spicy, so instead of adjusting the spice levels in the gravy itself, they added raw chunks of fresh chilli inside. It was a bit bland in comparison to the lamb shank which was way too overpowering. We packed the chicken tikka masala to go as we didn t want to waste any food. The lamb shank was left unfinished as it tasted too bad to even consider taking back. Regardless, we still had to throw away the to go box on the way home as we felt that we got food poisoning. My friend was hauled over outside the restaurant trying not to puke. I m surprised we made it all the way home before puking. Overall, this is definitely not the place to go for a fine dining experience. At the checkout, we commented that the food was underwhelming and that the spices were just not right in quantity and harmony. We only complained about the lamb shank masala. The response received was condescending. The waiter smirked and said, Is this your first time trying Indian food. No, but it was our first time having Indian food that bad. We were then told that they would do better next time. There will be no next time. We came here because of all the great reviews. Don t make the same mistake we did, save yourselves. -Amina F

We had a dinner last night there with couple of friends, food was not as excepted but the service provided by the manager was excellent I don t know his name but knew that he is from Darjeeling , he asked us how was the food when we gave him our honest review he accepted and went beyond . You are an amazing host you are a treasure to your workplace . Keep up the same hospitality and your warm welcoming attitude. Grand palace got the best manager . He knows how to handle customers feedback. You are the best!

My partner and I were visiting Sydney and this became one of the highlights of our trip. The chef certainly hits the mark when it comes to authentic Indian cuisine. We have not stopped raving about how delicious our meals were on top of lovely, genuine service and an amazing atmosphere. You can see a lot of effort goes into making this a special place to eat and enjoy company with friends and family. Amazing!

The ambience is good but the management and staff and food is worst . I ordered a pint and they delivered a schooner. Seriously? When I asked them the waiter said it s just little less? I said I am happy to pay but for gesture I am not going to consume it so better to take it. Waiter and the bartender were so rude. We ordered some Naan and they intensionally did not deliver it. With frustration we left the table. Owner said we are so busy today because of VIVID. Festival and it s ok if you are not happy. Serious it was my first and last visit. It s my honest review to you guys !! I am sure you should learn some hospitality to run the business in Sydney

2 stars for the service: - sat us in the worst spot by the dirty dishes saying all other tables were going to be full for a group coming in (all tables were not full) - asked if we wanted apps and main meal separate we asked for apps first and then he s like actually no just do it all at once, like okay why did you ask then lol - mediocre food; naan was good, butter chicken was mid just very sweet, fish pakora was good but not crunchy. Spent over $100 on naan, butter chicken, fish pakora, and two drinks. Didn t give onions and mirchi on side for free paid $8 for it and when they brought it it was just onions smothered in chutney - no mirchi had to ask for it

Good place to visit

Dropped in on a Tuesday night during a business visit to Sydney. It s a well hidden little gem. Pretty busy with what I m guessing were many locals, really nice family atmosphere. Staff were friendly and attentive and the food was incredible. I love Indian food and have eaten it world over (including India) and this was up there with the best. Highly recommend. Thank you.
