The Spice Room in Sydney

We had an amazing dinner. we didnt have a booking but here Staff named Gaurav was very welcoming and he accommodated us. The food was nicely cooked, presentable and came out fresh. The staff where friendly, welcoming and attentive. The atmosphere was nice.

Very warm and accommodating staff, served us with great quality food. We eat quite a lot of Indian / Asian food and this was very very good. Well done Spice Room !

Me and my friend ate Chicken biryani over there. Price is hectic. Couldnt even imagine that it would cost so much high. Talking about the food it was awful. I have tried biryani in so many places and so many resturants i have never tasted such bad taste of biryani over there. Honestly one of the worst experience of biryani as i am biryani lover.

The food is fantastic. Don t bother trying other Indian restaurants, this one is the best one. We have been coming here for years. Please try the pani puri shots, you won t be disappointed and the chicken tikka melts in your mouth!

Best chicken curry I have had!!! Plus the tandoor grill is amazing also. Service is A+. If you want quality Indian food come here. I also recommend coming in for a special occasion. They made my partners 40th birthday so special

I had the pleasure of dining at The Spice Room today, and it was an exceptional experience. The food was a perfect blend of authentic Indian flavors and beautifully presented dishes. The Palak Paneer and Mushroom Masala were highlights, bursting with rich and balanced spices. The ambiance was equally delightful. The warm lighting and intricate details made the dining experience even more special. Overall, the combination of flavorful food and a charming atmosphere makes The Spice Room a must-visit for anyone in Sydney.

Had a great Indian food here. Visited them twice in week, taste was same as it was earlier time. Dal Makhani (must have) is as good as u will find in Delhi (India), or I would say better in taste than what we have India. Must place for North Indian Food lover!! Keep going guys!!

Being of a northern Indian background, I ve had a lot of Indian food in my life; I think this makes my opinion particularly useful in trying to figure out if the Spice Room is authentic to its roots. In short, it is absolutely amazing. Its proximity to the Opera House and Circular Quay makes it the ideal place to grab dinner, and it s absolutely not a tourist trap. I can t wait to come again!

We came all the way from Melbourne to this restaurant on a friends recommendation and it was a horrible choice made. The rice served was cold, dal Takda had no tadka and baigan bharta had not salt or flavour. It was very a horrible experience. After complaining they said they will heat up the rice and redo Bharta. The rice came again luke warm.. I saw it was being heated in a microwave and clearly not heated well. We lost interest by then and just ate some food and left everything elesr. We were offered a complimentary nan by then we had lost interest in eating. We were give $10 discount and were told feedback will be passed to the chef but something told me that it was a check list. I will not recommend anyone to have food there.

Our experience was unfortunate very bad 2/5. We were seated in an area without air-conditioning ( to be fair given the option as the other tables were apparently booked). It was warm. Table water was warm too - no ice. Asked for mild dishes and was suggested a Dahl - it was more med - hot and too spicy for anyone. The remainder of dishes and service were average. Terrible dripping water leak in the bathroom that lands on your head as you enter toilets and slippery floors with bucket x2 catching water and a large wet tea towel ( not sure how this is safe by any means. The final straw was finding 2 large rocks in the naan which apparently broke off the tandoor. The children could have choked and broken teeth. Small apologies and no discount which was disappointing. I would never eat here again.

On my holiday in Sydney, I happened to visit The Spice Room- an indian restaurant to remind me of home. However the service in the restaurant did not remind me of home at all. Contrary to Indian hospitality it was a very sour experience. On asking for another tandoori roti, we were told that the kitchen was closed whereas it was an open kitchen and clearly visible that it was functioning. If you choose to serve a guest it is important that you satisfy them. When we bought it to the managers notice he said you can do whatever you want and at that point we decided to just eat the remaining food and walk off. The food was good but the service was pathetic and made the whole dinner experience very annoying especially for the expensive price tag. Highly disappointed.

An Indian restaurant I found by chance. Lamb curry has a bit of flavor, so it would be better to eat regular curry. The basic snack-like appetizer is delicious. Good atmosphere It was good to communicate with staff who were good at Korean.

Its the best Indian food Ive ever had! You must eat naan! I had two types of curry, chicken curry and beef curry, and both were very delicious!! Looking at other tables, I noticed they were eating different types of curry, but I think any type of curry would be delicious! Rishab staff kindly explained things to us and we ate delicious food!! He was the best person I met when I came to Sydney!! He speaks Korean well too! best!

Fantastic service from everyone here, especially Gorof who recommended us great dishes, because it was our first time having Indian food. Gorof knew exactly what we wanted! We will come back again soon!

This place is gorgeously outfitted, the flavors are great and the staff is friendly - my only feedback would be they the medium spice level is not very spicy at all. Im considered the spice wuss of my family and I would ve done a few more notches without breaking a sweat :) All in all would come back any time

Bhoomi served us and she was the best host. My 91 yr old dad gave her feedback for the temperature of the Ginger Masala Chai, next thing she brings another cup of complimentary chai at the same temperature that he required. That kind of attention is awesome . The food is always super. The Spice Room has become the place where we celebrate all our special days .

15% surcharge for no reason. Any kind of surcharge is not acceptable at any restaurant of this calibre. The service was also not good the waiters forgot to give us the menu. They also ignored us the whole time.

Yum yum yum. Had the grand banquet and it did not disappoint. All of the food was so flavourful and did not disappoint. Drinks were delicious as well. The service was superb and everyone was very polite. Thank you for the loveliest dinner!

3rd time of visiting, although first was 20 years ago. Second was 7 years ago and returned this year 2024! Excellent food, location, staff. Just a wee bit chilly, as weather certainly not what we expected, but it didnt dampen our spirits or appetites.
