Food was good. We came in without a reservation on the weekend. Quickly got a seat and food. There are two things that was out of the ordinary though. There was a weekend surcharge like $25 or something. That should have been more clearly communicated since it is neither norm nor a small amount on the bill. Secondly the staff is on the boundary of pushy vs. attentive. The food was really decent though.
While in Martin Place, Sydney, recently for the marathon I enjoyed two meals at this modern European (more Italian) restaurant in Phillip St. My first was a breakfast of eggs benedict with what I think was mortadella and accompanying sides of roast tomatoes and avacado. It was just delicious. The evening before the marathon I had Pumpkin ravioli and Italian bread with oil and balsamic vinegar. Again, very enjoyable. Just be aware if you are on your own and they offer sparkling water it does not come by the glass - you pay for a whole bottle. There is both indoor and outdoor seating and since it was coolish the gas fire heaters were on so nice and cosy even outside. I found one young gentleman in particular who happened to be on both times I was there friendly and charming. Apparently during the week there is a ‘happy hour’ for half priced pizza from 4:00 until 5:00 (not exactly sure if that is the correct time. There is a rather lovely bar and overall the decor is tasteful. I believe the restaurant is available for private functions.
Most recommended! We had a beautiful birthday lunch here. Everything was impeccable! I'll leave a few good pictures here knowing that I had such a good time that i forgot to take pictures midway. I was very pleased with the high standard of this restaurant. Staff were very polite and helpful. Food was delicious!! Soon to visit again 😊 Thank you
We shared the ravioli and eggplant parmigiana. It was the perfect amount of food with cocktails and tiramisu. Highly recommend.
This place has a wonderful atmosphere and a great selection of food and wine. Outside of that, our visit had a number of issues that unfortunately bring my scoring down. - Upon arrival, our waiter filled our glasses with sparkling water. As such, we assumed this was included. Our group tends not to drink this but opted to be polite and drink it. Upon receiving the bill, we discovered that we were charged for 2 bottles of sparkling and 3 bottles of still water, despite not being advised of a cost and not requesting the water. Throughout our seating, the waiter continued to refill glasses without being requested to. - Two of our guests were running late due to a personal issue. On their arrival, the waiter made quips about them being late. Despite this most likely being playful (and to encourage a tip), our guests and I did not appreciate it as they already felt guilty for being late. - The Steak Frites was ordered by one of our party and was brought out very undercooked compared to what they requested. - We all declined dessert at the end of the evening, and I requested the bill. Before the bill was brought in, they brought in a serving of ice cream and sang happy birthday, which we deliberately did not request. Upon receiving the bill, we had also been charged for the ice cream, which we did not order and assumed was complimentary due to the circumstance. The food is wonderful but I don't believe I would return.
New favourite in Sydney. Awesome service and great food, the pizza was quite unique. Super romantic for a cute date. Highly recommended. Thank you.
The Italian cuisine was delightful and I was intrigued by the quality of service this restaurant had to offer. The chefs and waiters were dedicated to their task to the customers. I would definitely come back again.
At the risk of not being able to get a table easily when I come next, this place deserves a rave review. The wait staff were so welcoming and lovely. The ambiance made me feel like I was on holiday and the food was tasty and filling. We tried the pate and it was so light and flavourful we will order it again next time. The fish pie was delicious. The pastry was light, layered and crunchy on top. It wasn’t soggy on the bottom. The fish was just right and not dry as in some other places. The only problem for us was we had a show to go to and had over ordered so had to eat faster than we should have. Next time we will ensure to allow enough time to savour each dish and to make time for dessert. We will be back! Post Script: came back two weeks later and had dessert! Devine 🤤
First time at this restaurant and I cannot express enough how amazing my experience was. I have to mention the 2 people who made this possible, Thomas and Andreas , professionalism and attention to detail in a genuine and welcoming manner is beyond !!! I ve dined in many high end restaurants and have not experienced that level of service for a very long time. The food was delicious, the drinks were amazing and all round a perfect dining experience!!! Thankyou again Andreas and Thomas .
Great food and atmosphere.
Beautiful food and excellent service. The staff were warm and attentive to a silver service standard. The food was delicious and the vibe was relaxed and unpretentious. I will be coming back.
Lovely food and atmosphere
Food was pretty average for the high price and was expecting more. Dissapointed in the pink negroni, which was way too sweet, and served with ice cubes instead of block ice for me. I was very excited to try this. The wagyu burger was overdone, and the starters and mains came out at the same time. I felt a bit neglected by the waitstaff because I am a young woman.
Like 5 stars hotels
Stunning restaurant with great food and excellent service. Will be back.
For the quality, prices were much less than we expected
This place is highly recommended Can praise it enough Food
Great food
This was an absolute pleasure to attend for my lunch today. It was a special day for me and this place topped it off. They accommodated us with a table without a reservation and the customer service was very good. The food was delightful and not over priced. Thoroughly recommended. Thank you.
Highly recommended. Everything was top notch.
I would like to start by saying the service and atmosphere were amazing, but the food really let me down I came here excited and walked out disappointed I ordered the crab spaghettini, pepperoni pizza and the mouse dessert. I saw the pasta was a favourite but I got the smallest portion compared to other people s photos, it was cold and the pasta was even crunchy in some bits, I am almost wondering if it was cooked by Chef Mike (the microwave) I was really looking forward to this night out and I am never one to complain but I was just so let down by the food, the service was amazing which is why I am giving it the 2 star
My guests always remark how much they enjoyed the experience because it makes them feel like they re on a mini vacation. Kid-friendliness: Fine dining, so not suitable for children under 16.
Staff were friendly, prompt and attentive. Service was excellent . We were a group of six, and all meals were served together. Food was outstanding. Thank you to all for a wonderful dinner.
Beautiful venue, fantastic food-what a gem!
Good taste, but aware of size!! The lobster pasta (I forgot its exact name) in the left pic, I feel can serve for 4. Really too much for 2 Food
Great venue highly recommend
The service was next level, The food was delicious Atmosphere was great, we had a larger group Parking: Rather difficult, with building alterations next door, so taking up quite a few parking bays Suggest train to St James, 4 min walk to restaurant
I am a tourist from other countries, I searched for this Italy restaurant on Google, I saw that the menu dishes on Google were around 30 Australian dollars, when ordering I asked the waiter to recommend a pizza and Italy, the waiter recommended my pasta on a small menu, he said that the portion was relatively large, and did not tell me my price, because I had seen the Google price in advance I didnt think much about it, and the result was 130 Australian dollars when I checked out, but he didnt tell me the price when ordering, In addition, the pizza I ordered was only 23 Australian dollars, I dont know if this is considered a deception to consumers to conceal the price
Would highly recommend for a go to lunch spot with fantastic and relax atmosphere
What a great dining experience. Great dishes and although very busy on the early Thursday evening that our group of 7, it was not a struggle to enjoy the table conversation.
The Staff were friendly, comforting & inviting. They ensured we were pleased throughout the whole night. The food was brought out promptly. The experience was 10/10 and we loved meeting the owner Angela she is so lovely.
Art Deco Interior and nice food even menu was a bit limited.
Fabulous place for a workday lunch or a lovely dinner. You get the high end experience without the ridiculous price. Service is excellent. Food is amazing. Portions are generous (keep that in mind when ordering so you leave some space for dessert, which also come in generous portions). Again, one of those solid places you will go back to over and over again.
Delicious food and good service
We booked the restaurant as a fill in before going to the theatre. We were pleasantly surprised. This restaurant is not a fill in but destination. Great food, service and decide 1st class. The wine list is extensive yet reasonable. We had pizza and after recently coming back from Italy, the pizzas were of the same class. I cannot wait to revisit the restaurant and try more of the menus which is a combination of Italian and French style cuisine which is a fantastic combination. Highly recommended and reasonably priced for fine dining
If I was still working in the CBD, this would be a regular haunt for business lunches. As it was, worked damn good for lunch with friends. A buzzy atmosphere, perhaps just a bit too noisy when full and after a few wines nearby, but nothing to complain about. Modern decor. An extensive wine list, by glass or bottle, and plenty of cocktail choice. Loved the menu options. Service very good throughout and every dish was a winner.
Prawn starter was good, tiramisu dessert was good but pepperoni pizza tasted flat.
Exceptional dining. Beautiful flavours generous portions. Highly recommended
Perfection. Prawn and the octopus entrees full of flavour and grilled and cooked perfectly. Best veal saltinbocca weve ever had - this dish can often be too salty, but not here. Spanner crab tagliatelli had a generous amount of crab, more than many other places, in a lovely sauce and perfect pasta. Cant tolerate a restaurant that is stingy on quantity of serving size or amount of the main ingredients in a dish - this place is not such a place. Only 10 minutes stroll to Theatre Royal too! And only 10 mins stroll to Wilsons Parking Domain. Will definitely be back.
Food quality and taste was excellent and for the price. These guys have an amazing DNA with decades of experience running Bambini Trust, which is an Institution in Sydney. La Riviera is slightly more casual than Bambin but still great service and food. They are not trying to be flashy: rather consistently great food and service. Highly recommend it.
The best Veal Saltimbocca we have ever had. The broccolini was excellent.
Nice food & service. Best pizza!
Italian spot right outside Martin Place station staff are professional and friendly always a fan of whipped tarama and carbs (flat bread) - creamy umami delight felt the crab tagliatelle was underwhelming given its hype - perhaps more sauce was needed (?), not much flavour steak was good tho, tender and well paired with the bearnaise sauce solid tiramisu beautiful interior
Great overall dining experience! We had focaccia and stracciatella which both were great. Ravioli and crazy formagi pizza, the ravioli was delicious but the pizza unfortunately underwhelming. Side of broccolini and tiramisu for desert.
My wife and I enjoyed a beautiful dinner at La Riviera! The food was definitely worth the price and the vibe was just really good.
Tucked away in Sydney s legal district, La Riviera is a charming hidden gem that transports you away from the busy bustle of the CBD. We discovered this restaurant across the road from the Wilson car park, and it captured our eyes instantly. We decided to stop here for a quick dinner before the orchestra. Classic, yet livened up with a modern twist, the ambience transports you back to 1920s France or Italy. We were welcomed with a smile and led through the bar and up the stairs, to a table that was dimly lit by a beautiful copper lamp. We ordered two lychee martini mocktails, however the waiter served us alcoholic martinis instead. This minor mistake was redeemed through the octopus entree, which was seasoned and cooked beautifully and well-paired with the potatoes. For mains, we ordered the steak frites with chimmichurri, ricotta ravioli, and broccolini. We couldn t fault any of them, but the star of the night was definitely the ravioli! We regret not staying for dessert. We were also pleasantly surprised with how promptly the food and drinks were brought to our table. La Riviera is definitely a hidden gem and we can t wait to be back soon.
Fabulous breakfast spot, really charming intimate and classy. Service was excellent and food delivered promptly. Some very exquisite breakfast options.
Have to say was really surprised about the service outstanding with italian staff members giving that feeling of authentic and disengaging from the location in the CBD. Service 10/10 Food 9/10 Interior design and care for details 9/10
Fantastic venue and staff! Kevin and the team are amazing!! Held a private function here recently - nothing was a problem, food amazing and service outstanding. Could not recommend more highly! Parking: get a taxi
Excellent food. Fabulous ambience. Will definitely be back.
amazing atmosphere and food! very welcoming staff as well.
Only been there for drinks on a Friday with pizza, but good atmosphere, excellent service and excellent cocktails; daiquiri especially.
Surprised that this restaurant doesn t have more of a following. Food and ambiance was amazing. Many options of dining areas as well to accomodate many event types. The vault was great but the boxes on the ground should be cleaned up.
The food was incredible! Dined at this restaurant in a group setting and can I just say the octopus melts in your mouth and steak frits divine ! Drinks were also good service was a bit slow but only because there was about 15 of us so that s understandable, overall I cannot wait to return here ! It s such a great restaurant
Restaurant food was excellent, food was fairly priced with exquisite flavours. But they forced a gratuity onto a table of 6. This is not New York ta-ta
Great spot in the middle of the city. Beautiful room, very spacious, luxurious leather banquets and spectacular pink chandelier. Food was mostly Italian inspired dishes with few French flavours. We shared kingfish crudo, grilled octopus and wood fired prawns for entree and crab spaghetti, rib eye steak and broccolini for mains. Finished with tiramisu and bombolini. Divine! All dishes were beautifully presented and really tasty. The wine list is a great selection of Italian, French and Australian wines and cocktail list is a twist on classics. Try the pink negroni, you can thank me later. Staff is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. All around fantastic experience and we will be back.
What a great spot! Had an early dinner before show, had some oysters with Venetian topping, zucchini flowers stuffed with 4 cheeses, pepperoni pizza, lamb ragu pasta and whole flounder. Yum! Friendly staff, beer on tap and great wine selection. Didn t have time to try desserts, will be definitely back.
- refined & excellent dishes - beautiful frame - very nice staff
This is a fabulous restaurant with a modern sophisticated feel and vibe. The food was outstanding and the service was impressive
Food was absolutely delicious, excellent service the staff was very helpful. Highly recommended !!!
Attentive staff, tasty food, but my favourite part is how comfy and relaxing the atmosphere feels like! Jazz/Lounge music, modern and fancy furniture. I had a great experience.
Not only does La Riviera provide delicious prawns, fish and pasta for lunch and dinner (I can attest to both) the staff hospitality and service is warm and second to none!
The lobster pasta that was recommended by a lovely staff called Ori was delicious. Thank you for services and hospitality. Highly recommended for sea food and pasta lovers.
The food was wonderful. Service excellent and a great atmosphere made for a memorable night out.
we had our lunch yesterday the food was superb, Excellent food.
Top quality food; well-pitched menu; personable attentive staff. That s the formula.
Thanks again La Riviera. Lovely food, perfect service. Lots of vibe but quiet enough to hear a conversation. A great place for a pre-theatre meal .. 3 minute walk to The Theatre Royal. Thanks for looking after us so well
We had the BEST time at La Riviera! All of the dishes were delicious - especially the tiramisu Our superstar waitress, Oriola was incredible at making us feel so welcome and attended to. I m excited to come back again!
Food was divine, and affordable fine dining, service was amazing, the place was scenic and spacious. Would definitely eat here again
A quiet and elegant western restaurant, a good choice for chatting and chatting!
Lovely cadre for a romantic dinner for 2. Food was very well executed. Staff were very attentive and really made the evening. This is a little Sydney gem and it scores 5/5 for value for money. It s a must go . We ll definitely be back.
Came here for the first time and had an enjoyable dinner experience with some friends. Food was quite delicious and service was on point. The restaurant had a very lovely ambience and makes for a great date night / dinner with friends. To note - had a bit of an issue with the billing at the end which left a sour taste in our mouths. However, mistakes do happen and would be willing to forget about it and possibly be back in the future. Overall: 7.5/10
Restaurant had a really nice ambiance which would be perfect for a date night. For the entree, I really enjoyed the butter and bread. The butter was fragrant and the olive bread was warm and soft. My favourite dish was the seafood pasta. We had veal for the mains but it was too salty. Was looking forward to the tiramisu but the coffee dusting was too overpowering and bitter.
Great service and very innovative food
Good service, portions were good - price was high.... Overall a good option if you are heading to the local theatre
Perfect impromptu lunch experience. The atmosphere is perfect for any occasion whether it be intimate or for business. We were looked after by the perfect waitress - Maya who was both attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and provided recommendation which did not disappoint. We had the pleasure of trying several items on the menu all of which were expectational from the Grilled Octopus to the Gruyere souffle to the Ravioli alla Caprese Mascarpone, Ricotta & Meyer Lemon Butter and to finish the Chocolate Souffle - Hats off to the Chef - incredible. The finishing touch was the Mandarincello the perfect digestif. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, with warm lighting and elegant furnishings and is the perfect place for any occasion I highly recommend La Riviera Dining for anyone looking for an unforgettable dinning experience
Great breakfast but the atmosphere was literally and figuratively cold. Needs some warmth. It is no where near as good as Bambini was for breakfast
Snapper pie - wonderful. Quince Millefoglie - sublime. Staff - excellent. Full marks
Everything tasted divine. A lovely place for a special occasion.
Really enjoyed the food and ambiance at la Riviera. The fit out is subtlely glamourous and intimate. Food was amazing too- loved the addition of sweet balsamic and olive oil dip with the focaccia. The snapper pie had a beautiful caramelised onion flavour to it but wouldve preferred my pastry a bit thicker. The lasagne was a generous serve and tasted fantastic- not as tomato-ey as your typical lasagne. Dessert was a standout- loved the quince millefoglie- the pastry was so so crispy and the chantilly cream and stewed quince were a perfect combination
Great new addition to the CBD. Delicious food and very attentive service. Had dinner there on a Friday and went back again for breakfast a few days later. Highly recommend Food : 5/5 |
Went for a special date night. La Riviera was a delight from the moment we walked in the door. The ambiance, lovely service and the food was beyond expectation. Even the secret birthday surprise at the end was delight for my girl. Very romantic atmosphere, will definitely come again. Anna & Joseph Food
Really good food, elegant decor, great service and relaxing jazz music. Not a noisy restaurant.
I recently had my 50 th b day in the stunning top level. Kevin and the team created an incredible experience for me and it was seamless from contact to end. They are professional and old experienced in delivering proper service. And the food amazing thankyou
Great taste of food Had a pasta and steak worth the price flavour was awesome and good place for anniversary Will visit again
Had a delightful breakfast
Genuinely the best dining experience we ve ever had! Highlights were definitely the gruyere cheese souffle, the chocolate soufflé, and the Tiramisu. The staff were also such lovely people and very welcoming. Couldn t recommend more!
Excellent in all respects
We stopped by here for a Friday evening pre dinner drink. They have a fantastic wine list and the venue is gorgeous, the service and staff are very good too!
I loved the decor and waiters. The taramasalata with the warm bread was to die for, without forgetting the chicken Caesar salad which was marvellous. Bravo to the chef
Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! In all aspect! Foods are so good! Service is superb! Must go place!:) enjoyed here! Thank you so much!
A superb dining experience in Sydney s cbd with exceptional service and quality food offering. A must visit
Food and service is fine, but they put a $45 tip on the bill for themselves and told me it was mandatory. I like tipping and am a generous tipper, but $45 is more than I would typically leave. The fact it was mandatory and undisclosed made me feel ripped off. I would not go back or recommend to anyone.
Wonderful experience. Delicious food.
Terrible service. Terrible venue. Completely forgotten. Food good. Not a warm service. Shame. Expected so much more.
Really enjoyed our dinner, sensational food, oysters, lobster frites, flounder & buffalo panacotta. Well Matched wine by the glass and generous size serve. Staff were very attentive, timing was excellent. We will be back.
Hidden gem at the business end of the City, brilliant food thats beautifully presented, attentive service and a lovely spacious dining room which allows for conversation. If you can make it to dessert you have to try the Panna Cotta - its flavours were simply incredible.
Dined with four others last night (Nov. 26th) one of whom has Coeliac Disease. She phoned ahead, spoke with the chef and enjoyed the most delicious, specially prepared meal! Service was impeccable. A beautiful room and friendly staff. We all had a great time and shall return. Thank you!
