Very professional service, not students but friendly older gentlemen. Very fine food. The espresso was also excellent. If you finally want to eat well and are fed up with fish n chips and these often incompetent work n travel service employees, Mazzaro is highly recommended! :-)

We came to Mazaro just to have a coffee and a desert and were refused to be served because apparently you can t order deserts without food. Going to various restaurants for years I ve honestly ve never encounter a rule like this. Extremely rude and unprofessional service.

We dined last night. We had decided that the best restaurant in the world was at the Danieli in Venice overlooking the Grande Canal. Sorry Danieli, youve been eclipsed. The Mazzaro is across the street from Hyde Park. The food is exceptional, the service is perfect and the prices are a fraction of what we pay elsewhere. Last night we had two courses and a bottle of wine for a total of $198.00 AUD. The equivalent at the Danieli was $800.00 AUD. I cant believe its taken me 32 years to find Mazzaro. You will not find better quality, quantity or prices in Sydney.

The food was slightly expensive, but mostly worth it. I dined with 3 people, and ordered the mushroom rissoto, beef cheeks, cypriot haloumi, pumpkin ravioli and affogato and apple pie for dessert. The total was 152 and the sparkling water cost 10 dollars. The rissoto and pumpkin ravioli was average, but the Cypriot haloumi and beef cheeks were so yummy- the presentation was nice and the service was great! The atmosphere was also very nice and the tables were nicely spaced out. The affogato with liquer was delicious, and the decontructed apple pie was sooo good aswell. I reccomend coming here!

My wife chose the restaurant because it was in the Entertainment program. She and a friend opted for the set menu because they had timed tickets to the Ramses II exhibition nearby. At the end of the meal the manager refused to give the discount, despite the rules clearly stating that it applies to specials and set menus. Very embarrassing as she was shouting lunch for her friends birthday. When she wrote to the owner later pointing this out, with a copy of the relevant clause, he doubled down on his position. Its a sneaky ploy for a restaurant to attract customers by offering a discount, then inventing their own rules to deny it. Entertainment have been informed.

Old world class meets great food in the CBD. I enjoyed the set price menu which was not only excellent but a great value. Peter was a seasoned waiter that topped off the whole experience. I ve already recommended this place to a local as it s a real find . I can t wait to go back on a future visit.

This is truly one of the best restaurants in Sydney. The food was so amazing and the service top notch. Our waiter Peter was so attentive and kind and made our experience memorable. It was so nice to be taken care of by a professional. We started with the calamari and had the barramundi fish for our main dishes. Both were exceptional. This restaurant should not be missed when in Sydney. We will be back very soon.

Hardly anyone in restaurant, first red flag on a Friday night. Rude waiters. Ordered the special linguine, pasta was super super al dente (almost like it was made hours before). You could pick up the entire mound of pasta in one forkful because of how dry it was. Pasta had no flavour. Felt like I was eating half cooked pasta with chilli....

What a wonderful restaurant. Impeccable old fashioned service. Peter & Karina looked after us like family. The food was delicious. The pork chop cooked to perfection - juicy to the last mouthful. We will definitely be back and can highly recommend this restaurant.

We are visitors from Perth, Western Australia, and found this Italian restaurant quite by accident. It was a nice find. The food was top rate, the service impeccable, and the general atmosphere was relaxed. We have recommended the restaurant to our family and will definitely come back on our next holiday in Sydney.

Our second visit to Mazzaro. It was next door to our hotel. Medium to high priced menu was delivered with the best ingredients, perfectly prepared, and presented. Tonight our star dish was the angel hair pasta with seafood, capers, chillies and spinach. Really enjoyed this with an Australian Riesling.

The only dining stop on my whirlwind visit to Sydney, and it did not disappoint. The staff were prompt and polite. The environment was relaxing. A great beef carpaccio, decent broccolini and mashed potato, and succulent steak. Oh were I to live in the same state as this restaurant.

One of my favourite restaurants in sydney been going for about 2 years now since new owners TIM. everything from the food to the service is perfect everything is also well priced. The pork chop is amazing the entrées are great and the portions are large and im a fairly large man. The manager tim is great very friendly and a overall gentleman.

Very poor food. I had the Special chicken pasta and it seemed like it was made a few days ago. Chicken was off in flavour and the pasta and sauce was very dry. Also they tried to charge me for an extra bottle of wine. I think they thought we were tourists. I do not reccomend this resturant.

Came in early and was looked after but staff were not really interested in chatting, you were a customer and that was it. When I found out I should have got a discount staying next door, they werent interested said I should have told them before I had my meal. Thats not good customer service in my opinion. Meal was good but pricey as you had to pay extra for sides.

My recent visit here was a complete letdown. I ordered a rare steak, but it arrived overcooked and devoid of juiciness. The angel hair pasta was also overcooked and had a mushy texture. The staff showed no concern for my dissatisfaction, and the overall atmosphere was lackluster. I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my disappointing experience.

Good and tasty food, have a feel and taste of Italian and European food with different dishes than pasta and pizza. 4 stars coz small list of cocktails and no music,not very cozy ambiance but quite simple. Recommended for good food and simple and clean setup. Good price for the set menu.

This restaurant is a SCAM! On their website they advertise a set menu but when we showed up they said in order to get the set menu we had to have called in advance. 1. What are weird requirement 2. No where ok their website do they mention that. Furthermore the waiter stated he is not willing to discuss that policy Wow. Stay away

Took my wife here for her 40th birthday and the food was top notch and the service was authentic Italian fine dining style.

Thank you to the wonderful guys at Mazzaro for our dinner this week. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, food was absolutely delicious, good wine selection list. I had the scallops for entree and the rainbow trout for main, my husband had the eye fillet for main. We shared the semi freddo with home made passionfruit marshallow - yum!!!

The meal was simply amazing! The food was sublime and the service fantastic! The fried sand whiting was delicate and delicious, the pork cutlet was a large, juicy and flavorful chop. Even the sourdough and olives were great!

My fiancé and I had such a wonderful time here on out summer holiday. The food was excellent, the service was impeccable, and the view of Hyde Park through the sunset was simply lovely. My only critique is that the pumpkin/gorgonzola ravioli should be a menu staple because it is way too good to only be a special! Some of the best Italian food Ive had in Australia - could not recommend more :)

Average food. A bit expensive but portions are a decent size. The squid was tough. Not everything on the online menu is actually on the restaurant menu. I did hear another person complain about their steak. I wouldnt personally go back. Nice people though.

I visited Mazzaro restaurant for the first time a few days ago. We were having lunch with my friend. I liked absolutely everything about this restaurant- the cuisine, the place, the atmosphere and the great service. It is conveniently located close to Hyde park, Central Station and Town Hall.

Great Italian specialising in seafood

I had a pleasant experience. It was pricey as expected for a restaurant but worth it for the quality and large portions. The staff were friendly and quite welcoming. I had the salmon and it was delicious, my bf had the pork and it was 2 large cutlets (a tad bit undercooked to his liking as it was pink in the middle) but tasty. Also ordered potatoes on the side ($8) as I thought it was small portions but was wrong. Very delicious would recommend

A group of us had a fixed price 2 course meal here. It wasnt as good as I was expecting based on a look at their normal menu, but I guess it was toned down for the fixed price. Lots of fish on the menu and only one pasta dish. The service was very efficient and well organised.

From when we entered the restaurant, we were made to feel like family. Its a bit on the pricey side but the meals were excellent.

No frills, no nonsense, just good food. I had the braised beef cheek and an eye fillet which were both very well prepared and presented. (The sizes could have been a little bigger, but then again, I eat a lot.) I can recommend them for anybody looking for a good meal in a pleasant setting with a storefront towards Hyde Park.

Underwhelming experience tbh... The duck was pretty ordinary. The barramundi fillet was falling apart on a pile of rice soaked in soy sauce... Not a place for a special occasion for sure, and it is rather overpriced. The service was good but Im not coming back.

I have been dining here for years and the quality of the food and perfect service never fails. Possibly the best steak (eye fillet) and fish (barramundi) in Sydney city. My favourite secret dining experience.

We shared a wonderful meal with friends midweek. Superb menu and wide choice of wines. Service was deft and welcoming. We had a great celebration in a quiet and formal setting. Highly recommended. In addition, menu offered tasty GF options! We will be back again!

I have been there at lunch with my friend. As usual I have received an exceptional service and enjoyed the atmosphere and the delicious food. What I would recommend to order in this restaurant if you have spare 15 minutes over lunch time is coffee. Coffee is one of best here.

Well located next to hyde park, this is not a big resturant, but i liked it, it felt kinda of personal and relatable. Went on a Monday night, for my wifes birthday. Wanted something a little different and special and they delivered in spades. Had a selection of entrees. The calamari was gently cooked, the beef cheeks feel apart, and the prawns were packed full of flavour. For the mains my wife hasd the salmon with pea puree and I had duck breast with white chocolate and beetroot ganache both were epic. For Desert we shared a creme brulee. Couldnt fault the food and the service was also top draw. Not a cheap place to eat, but in this case you definitely get what you pay for in terms of quality and we were very well looked after. I dont live in Sydney but if I did I would eat here again..

The restaurant is well placed near the Hyde Park in Sydney City CBD. Its easily accessible by public transportation. I am not sure about parking, that may be tricky as the CBD is always busy. The place has a nice atmosphere and the staff is friendly. We ordered garlic bread for entree. I liked it, though my wife found it a bit too salty for her taste. For mains, we ordered duck breast with sides of potato chips and Greek salad (see picture). The duck is superb. Best one I ever had. It came with some leaves and beans and some sauce with cocktail cherries. This made the whole taste unique. We loved it. We ordered 2 desserts from the dessert menu too. The place is not cheap (not crazy expensive either) thus I wouldnt go there every Friday night, but for celebrations we will definitely go there again.

Nice dine in atmosphere, well priced for great quality food. Fresh and delicious natural oysters. Prefectly seasonsed medium rare eye fillet with veal jus and amazing mash. Saffron angel hair spaghetti with prawns, smoked salmon all round great tasting dish. Vanilla bean creme brulee with baklava ice cream great way to finish off a good dinner.

I didnt feel it was very welcoming. Although some of the food was great especially the tomatoes. The salad was delicious! The mains were not bad. Overall it was nice. Would I come back? Not in a hurry. There was no real stand out to bring me back.

Regrettably one of the worst dining experiences ever. Perfunctory service from start to finish. My entree only meal of Seafood Chowder with Prawns and Muscles could easily have doubled as a can of Heinz cream soup of some variety with, I counted, 4 pieces of prawn and 1 muscle. Partners Crispy Skin Salmon arrived with soft skin and grey flesh. We mentioned on arrival that we were staying next door at the Hyde Park Inn which stated in their guest information that a 10% discount would be given by Mazarro to their guests if dining there. Yet at bill time no 10% discount appeared. To top it off, a total bill of $101 included $7.50 being for a bottle of still water. Ive had better service and food at countless places.

I was going to give the restaurant at least three stars for the decent food that we had last night but honestly, I was incredibly disappointed with the poor service and the ATTITUDE from the waiter. The differences between how he treated us compared to his regulars were evidently clear. He welcomed his regulars with open arms, kissed and laughed his way with them in that small restaurant so that we could all hear. But when we would ask for a new knife or some ketchup on the side, he didn t even acknowledge or reply back to us and just walked off. Yes, he did bring what we had asked for.. but it was definitely accompanied with a great amount of negative energy and attitude. He was just plain out unfriendly and very short to us. So why the difference in service? Are we just making sure we keep the regular customers happy during this pandemic? Yep. Never going back here again. Even if the food was top notch (which is wasn t btw) the service was shocking and very unwelcoming.

I would like to thank the staff of Mazzaro Restaurant. The food was beautiful and could not be faulted. I had the Calamari for starter and the slow cooked beef cheek with pasta for main. I was too full for dessert but the rest of our table ordered the chefs special Tiramisu. They all agreed it is one of the best Tiramisus they had eaten. Again thank you for making our night memorable with good service and equally good food. It was a pleasure to dine at Mazzaro.

Nice atmosphere and the food was decent. The entrees and the starters was good! Mains were good also but not at the level of the entrees. Overall we enjoyed the food and the vibe despite corona. Service was okay...not the best not the worst.

Awful. Tasteless. Atrocious service. We ordered room service via the Hyde Park Inn. They brought the food without utensils or seasoning. The spaghetti Bolognese (we requested extra cheese) was actually unsalted papradelle with some horrible flavorless stew meat cubes on top. I was too exhausted to deal with it in the moment and assumed since we had a few days in the hotel it would be taken care of. We complained to the hotel staff in the morning when we asked for extra breakfast items as wed eaten ours up the night before...they took out the full plate of food and they told us good luck, you should have complained right away The next day we went into the restaurant and complained. Their response was everyone eats this, its rustic style. They would not give a refund and didnt even offer a compensatory meal. Nothing but a look of disgust and a dismissive wave. We complained to the hotel and they agreed the food was awful, that there were many complaints about not enough salt, and that the restaurant commonly would not hear complaints. A long story to say, dont bother eating here.

We had the 2 course menu, ordered a chowders for entree, seafood pasta and ocean trout for mains and a chocolate cake for dessert. The chowder was nice , but the seafood pasta was average, and the ocean trout was over cooked. I only had one bite of the fish and lost interest. We couldn t finish the meals, so asked for take away. When the bill comes, I showed them my entertainment book voucher 25% off total bill, and they didn t honour the voucher saying it can not apply to set menu. There were no terms in the entertainment book stating that it doesn t apply to certain choice of menu. they did give us a 10% off at the end. I wouldn t recommend this restaurant for its value and the taste.

Food was good but service was average/non-existent. We came here on a Wednesday night. The restaurant had less than 10 people. I was shown to my table and basically ignored whole night. If we wanted a menu, a drink, order food (or anything) we had to wave down a waitress. We found this really odd service since it looked like a nice restaurant and there was easily one waitress per table . The food itself was tasty and big portions. When paying the bill the waitress asked us to leave her a tip. I hate being asked, especially when she did not proactively engage us the whole night. Everyone on our table felt uncomfortable with this request however we left a tip and left.

This restaurant surpassed my expectations. They take gluten allergies/preferences into consideration when ordering. They can make a LOT of dishes GF and they offer GF bread as well! The server was very polite and professional. I snacked on fresh olives and bread to start and then ate the snapper which was AMAZING. It was cooked perfectly and served with lovely thinly cut mushrooms and a light broth sauce. The wine selection is beautiful. They could use more artwork on the walls, and it would be nice if meal service was available outside, but other than that my experience was absolutely wonderful. I will DEFINITELY be back!

We came here for dinner on Saturday and had the pleasant welcoming from a staff member. He made the experience so special with great humour. The atmosphere of the whole restaurant and Laneway was amazing and very enjoyable.

Dont go if you arent hungry. Serving sizes very generous and they taste great too.

My husband and I along with 70 others celebrated the 50th Anniversary of HMAS Vendetta sailing to Vietnam on Saturday. Our experience could not have been better. Professional service and attention to detail was without fault. The meals were delicious and well presented. Well worth the trip into Sydney!

The food is of a very high standard, the price is very reasonable, the decoration is just right, the transportation is convenient, and the restaurant manager is very friendly. It is a restaurant that you have to go to try.

The food was delicious and my entree was big enough that I couldn t finish my main, despite how delicious it was! There was a variety of unique desserts and it was so difficult to choose. The service was excellent and I m glad this place was recommended to me, as I ll definitely recommend it to anyone!

Pretty ok. The pork cutlets were perfectly cooked. The menu is heavily seafood based. Unlike most cbd restaurant, mazzaro is busy but each table is not cramped with one and another.
