4/320 George St, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia
Sitting atop ivy, uccello takes its cues from the Italian coastline and provides a poolside oasis in the CBD.
We went here for the Two Park Christmas party and the service was exemplary! Food was amazing. Caviar stood out and I'm happy I didn't have to pay for that! 🤣🤣 My next favourite is the shrimp! Great umami! Least favourite dishes were the pastas. I was expecting more from the crab pasta but it just didn't hit as well as I wanted it to! Too sour and the crab was overpowered by the sauce. I would recommend this restaurant 100%!
Came in with reservation, while I was waiting to be seated, 3 different waiters asked about my table and they said just to wait for someone else to come and help me. If these table waiters are unable to help with seating, maybe just dont ask? Just say that someone is coming in to help me shortly? Why do i have to answer same questions over and over again? I’m not particularly impressed with the food. Garlic bread was too salty. The mojitos could be waaaaaaay better, and ridiculously overpriced ($15). The bars near australian museum did better mojitos than this. None of the food left any good impression. Vibe was too loud. Have to yell to talk with my table mates. And over those noise, they still put some music up. Was it worthy to go back? 🤷🏻♀️ i dont think so.
Uccello, located in Sydney’s Ivy Precinct, offers a unique Italian dining experience with a vibrant poolside ambiance 🌊✨. The menu features authentic Italian dishes like veal tartare, goat’s curd tortelli, and wood-fired proteins 🍝🔥, paired with an extensive selection of Italian wines 🍷. While many guests praise the attentive service and pleasant atmosphere 🤩, some have noted issues with portion sizes, pricing, and seasoning 🤔. Overall, it’s a great spot for a special occasion 🎉, but expectations may vary depending on personal preferences.
We went here last night and was a great experience. Food was perfect no issues at all. The gnocchi probably best we have ever had ( including what we have eaten in Italy). A bit of a weird location, it was a nice restaurant but joined onto a pool club which was a little bit loud. Price was a bit high for me spending $57 for a main size ragù pasta but it was very nice.
We came here for dinner. The location is really beautiful, and the service is good as well. As someone used to Italian food, there are a few small improvements that could be made (for example, they gave us buffalo mozzarella but called it burrata…), but overall the dishes are good! The tiramisu is very tasty (even though it doesn’t really resemble the REAL Italian tiramisu).
Came here for dinner as it was listed as a goodfood gift card restaurant and boy it did not disappoint at all! Food was immaculate and cooked perfectly with flavours that paired so nicely together. Scotch fillet melted in your mouth and cooked to a perfect med rare! Service was impeccable from the staff! Loved every single second of it, would come back again!
The food was amazing! We just walked in off the street on a Thursday night, seated straight away in a great spot and realised we were very lucky to get in straight away. All the staff were so attentive and genuinely lovely. The atmosphere was great, plenty of space between tables, loved the meal. Everything was perfect! The pool bar was just outside of the restaurant and looked awesome!
We came here for dinner on a Saturday. We had to wait 20 mins for a table although we had a booking which was a bit disappointing. But the service throughout the rest of the night compensated for that. Atmosphere is great too, especially with the Pool Club being adjacent. We shared a few dishes which were all great, with the ones worthy of a special mention being the carpaccio which was overall amazing, and the gnocchi which was very fluffy, soft, and had a great sauce. Price wasn’t too bad at $430 for 4 people including a few cocktails and a bottle of wine. A great option for a nice night out!
Such a great lunch with outstanding service and food to match highly recommended
Lovely staff but terrible food if you have any dietary requirements.
Unfortunately the restaurant gives onto a loud poolside club with music and drunk patrons galore. Also, you need to catch a cramped lift full of Merivale patrons off their chops by 6pm. Most unpleasant. Service was great, however.
Party of 4. Splendid food. However, despite being impressive, the wines are very expensive and ordering two x 100 dollar bottles( of the cheapest)...felt a bit stingy. Maybe we were . But the food is very good and we will go there again.
Amazing food and amazing service. Definitely the best Italian food Ive had in Sydney, and an amazing drink selection to go with it.
As an Italian I cannot recommend the food here. The pesto orecchiette tasted like cardboard and the Milanese was basically a schnitzel more suited to your local pub than a $175-a-head restaurant. The service was impeccable, friendly and professional.
Beautiful food. Excellent service. Full of the other half and those with corporate credit cards. I would recommend Ucello as a place to go for a celebration but be prepared to take out a small loan. Kid-friendliness: I would not take kids here. They will not appreciate it. Wheelchair accessibility: Lift to the restaurant from ground level
Claudia (the French one) was so beautiful and we experienced a fantastic meal. exceptional food, exceptional service. love from Canada
Shared banquet was a great experience. Range of food flavour and texture is well done. Waiters were a bit too quick to replace drinks that werent ordered so be aware. Worth the effort. $280-$300/head with drinks.
Food and service were absolutely top notch!
I went to dinner at Ucello with a girlfriend and was thoroughly impressed with the remarkable service and food. I always enjoy the pool backdrop as to me it is just so quintessentially Sydney. One thing I didn t much care for however was the noise. I appreciated the dj later on in the night but in the restaurant it makes it extremely difficult to hear your dining companion. The entree I selected off the menu was unavailable so I decided to progress straight to the main. As a result of that the staff thoughtfully brought out a complimentary entree to accompany my friends tuna dish. It was an antipasto style dish on which I enjoyed the cheese given I don t eat pork but it s definitely the thought that counts. My friends tuna was also exceptional. The mains were disappointing in that she had ordered a crab pasta entree size and I had ordered a main sized gnocchi. My gnocchi was truly sensational but the dish appeared smaller in size than the entree one. Greedily I wanted more Dessert was simple but faultless, a delicious raspberry sorbet and a glass of limoncello. Well worth visiting but don t come here expecting hearty Italian hospitality in the form of generous serve
Food superb. Service on point. Great friendly atmosphere.
Arrived at 1.15 and our lunch was served after 3pm. Felt forgotten as a table. Drinks didn t come that were ordered and my son s baby chino was actually a mini proper coffee!! Sat outside and now I m sick because of the cold. Happy Mother s Day!!!!
Delicious!
Absolutely amazing restaurant
The food and service are super!
Pricey but delicious.
Absolutely delicious and Great service Love this place. Food
Very disappointed...I was looking forward to this but had to cancel my reservation early in the day as a member of our party fell ill...and I was charged a $200 cancellation fee! It seems that if you don t cancel with at least 48 hours notice (which is unrealistic) they charge you. I will not try for another reservation and I will not recommend this restaurant if that is how they treat people! https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g255060-d1164379-r947372703-Uccello-Sydney_New_South_Wales.html#
The food and service were very good. It is a great place for special occasions. Quite pricy, though. Food : 5/5
A mainstay Italian. Great wine list. A tad expensive for what is or for what it was.
Enjoying the city and the atmosphere that s spawn as the sunlight fades and the lights of the city begin to transform the scene and the feel. For it is at this time, where you should find your way to George Street and traverse the crowds as you make your way towards the Ivy. It is along this path, you ll come to find Uccello. A short ride on the elevator isn t without some fun. You may come to experience the same fun on your short journey towards the sky. Hidden from curious gazes, the restaurant has a contemporary vibe and yet also evokes the ancient with columns that recall the Roman era and the stunning view. The surprise that lies ahead would lose its charm if it was disclosed! The appetising menu that draws inspiration and flavour from Italy s famous southern coast is a worthwhile experience. The staff, like invisible guardians, ensured an exceptional experience, materializing only when their presence was truly essential. When the moment to leave arrives, youll journey back to the city, where the vibrant echo of this fading haven will settle within you, leaving a profound sense of contentment.
Firstly the good, the service was attentive, pleasant and professional. The not so good, the food was of the quality you would expect to be served in your local Italian restaurant not a restaurant charging $50+ for a basic main size Lamb ragu pasta and not to mention the main size Lobster pasta $150 (we expected medallions of Lobster at this price not finally chopped meat) Was happy to try it but won t be back.
Came here for my birthday. We enjoyed the zucchini flower and rigatoni ragu. Extremely disappointed in their spanner crab linguine dish - sour to the point it masked the crab flavour, regret ordering the large portion. We had a small portion remaining on the dish which the waiter took away to inform the chef. No one came back, so we asked what their outcome was - I think he added too much lemon. We asked for the bill, which came back at the full price - odd considering they took away an unfinished dish. No apologies from the chef either... (service needs improvement)
Great service and good vegetarian options.
A busy Merivale property with a large open room facing the pool. Noisy. The patrons favour white shoes and tight pants The crab salad 50$ was short on any crab. The staff apologised and comped it. I prefer to get what I order The chicken main was adequate in size but a bit dry. The zucchini was just giant slices smothered in cheese. Dull No desert. Not recommended for food.
The food was absolutely delicious and staff were extremely friendly.
Absolutely delicious and great Service. Still love this place. Food
Great food and vibe if you have the money to afford
This is a beautiful space and the food is definitely very good. The staff however are not up to the job. Our experience was diminished by long waits to order and get check at end of meal. Also a request was completely ignored. I think there are better experiences to be had elsewhere at these prices.
Good service average food .220g jack creek sirloin quality is under standards for that price
My husband & I got a voucher for Christmas from our teenagers! Decided to book for a late Valentine s dinner at Uccello on Sat. Great service. Food was a bit pricey for what you get though. Overall nice experience.
It s a strange place mainly tailored for instagrammers. Don t get me wrong / food is ok , Portions are generous and even too excessive, but nothing special compared to other Italian restaurants. Everything in this place from the concierge greeting downstairs to experience upstairs feels artificial. We were a group of several and got the choice of preset menu. Appetisers are already a lot, followed by ente, pasta and this point you already have enough, but it s not the end - time for mains that none in our group even had energy and appetite for, not to mention dessert. It s a lot ! We ended up taking away half of it as leftovers. Staff if very attentive and taking care of you , but managers make sure to upsell wine and drinks as much they can. I was really pleased with vegan options which were not on the menu, but prepared by chef especially for me, and my colleague got similar gluten free options. If you are after posting some nice pictures on IG this is your place, but it s not a family restaurant to take your family for Sunday brunch
Great service, great food. Hidden away in the Hemmes complex but a great choice for relaxed and formal events. Can be pricey but worth it. Choose the lobster options if possible - stunningly good!
They lost my wifes new leather jacket when it was checked in. They didnt care when it was reported. No follow through of any description.
Magic Italian by the pool. Lamb was not what I expected but still ok the starters were the winners
Me and my boyfriend came for lunch, the host was extremely rude with us. First of all she said we have to spend more then hundred dollars per person literally looking at us like we couldn t afford, I felt really bad about this attitude. Beside that, the food was great and the service as well.
Food was okay. Many choice of wine. Better view at lunch time.
Service was lovely.
Excellent service, especially the lady, was so good as soon as she realised I was looking for a Halal or vegetarian option she told me beforehand it has something that might not be a halal suitable which is great to hear . Must recommend the watermelon mocktale it was amazing Wonderful capacciono must to have if uou are a coffee lover . Dietary restrictions: People are very much helpful for halal suitable option
Getting a table here is kind of difficult on a weekday, its full of suits. The quality of the food is par with what most of Merivale got to offer. Overpriced menu items that end up being of average quality, youre paying a tax to eat here and your money doesnt end up supporting employees, it ends up in the pockets of a few, and it helps enriching a monopoly that has been taking advantage of wage theft to outpower small business. Hard pass
$160 for set menu not including drinks. $100 for water for the group which no one requested. $80 for a bottle of Prosecco. Includes 10% surcharge. 100% not worth it unless you re rich.
The service and the food is immaculate, I was served by Jono and he explained the menu really well! I got their special. Overall the experience from the door to the exit was amazing! The host was so charming and checked in on us regularly. It was the best! Vegetarian options: Zucchini flowers Spaghetti Pomodoro Wood fired cauliflower Dietary restrictions: My friend was vego and Jono explained what they can and can t have very well (he s vegan himself)
Not really a fan of uccello. Had high expectations and was hoping for delicious food. I ordered the spanner crab linguine and for the price we paid - we got a small serving, there was such little seasoning and barely any crab - we left quite hungry.
Food was okay, service was very slow and restaurant was not very full. Entertainment was watching a chef remove pulp from passionfruit all night. Expected more for the price as was very expensive. Had to ask multiple times to pour bottle of wine, customer service wasn t really great. Smelt like bushfire in the restaurant from ivy pool. And music was very loud from ivy pool. Proscuitto and mozzarella was highlight, mains were not upto scratch.
It was my first experience where my friend suggested me to go and the Hostess poorly judge me by scanned from head to toe making me feel uncomfortable and I decided to leave
Clam pasta was amazing. Service was very friendly and attentive
Everything was pretty good apart from the appetisers. Cocktails were really really nice and the wagyu steak was def a 5/5. Loved the cauliflower appetiser as well.
Ive been here twice now. The first time I had an experience with a waiter who advised there was no meat product in a dish knowing Im a Pescatarian but after I ate it I found out that there was however even though i was incredibly upset by this issue the way it was handled by the manager at Uccello Michele was outstanding. He took the time to talk with me about it, I could tell he was very concerned over the situation that should never had happened, he was extremely sympathetic and understanding. Michele invited me back again to dine with some compensation of course, but personally greeted us on arrival and apologised again. Im giving 5 stars because of his complaint management skills and also the food overall here at Uccello is very good and the atmosphere is top notch. Such a vibe, great to come here on a night out and you can see out onto Pool Club, looks great! Definitely will be back again soon.
The food was so excellent. It was deserved the price we paid. I definitely will be back there another day with my husband to taste other wonderful dishes on the menu. Cheers
The service is outstanding; have special vibe when dining next to the pool. Of course, the food is great!
The venue was hard to find and the food was average. The menu presented was misconceiving as it displayed the entree prices for the pasta but failed to provide the price for the main size and we were only notified from the waiter whether we wanted a main or entree size which caused confusion. It would be helpful if both prices are presented so we are aware of pricing beforehand.
Great food...great service...very attentive staff...only one issue the seating I sat in always have people pass and bump into ..if not 5 stars...
Food was good, service was appalling considering the price paid
Doesnt deserve 3* for the price. Waiters and sommelier who appeared to know very little about wine were very pushy from the start with how much we should order in terms of dishes, and the sommelier came around to try and sell, among other things, a magnum of champagne, before we had even had a chance to look at the menu which was bizarre. The portion sizes were a total scattershot, with the side dishes being enormous and the pasta dish being so small that I could have fit the whole thing, which we were told would be enough to share between two, in one mouthful. Management of allergies was unreassuring with two different waiters initially giving very different lists of which dishes could be accommodated. Once the chefs were consulted though, no allergens slipped through. In summary, food was OK but overpriced but didnt meet expectations and service was pushy and unhelpful. Wont be back unless someone else is paying.
My favourite dining experience in Sydney. Uccello is consistently amazing with delicious food, friendly service, tasty wines all in a beautiful setting.
Cannot fault this place. Beautiful food and exceptional service.
Honestly, the food quality lacked any flavor and taste. Some of the combos were awful - like bitter leaves on carrot as a main dish. I was looking forward to great Italian food and I was surprised by how terrible some of the dishes were. The price tag of 150$ pp set my expectations high and this failed to meet a decent rating
Ordered the Buffalo Mozzarella, it was very small servings and the texture was quite rubbery, wasnt expecting this for the price we paid. The pasta was okay, not that filling. The best dish of the night was the dessert - tiramisu. Overall not value for money. I guess youre paying for the Merivale brand. Not sure if I would come back to eat here again.
I was so disappointed with this place - yes the views and poolside dining was great. This review gets 1 star for the staff who were just amazing! Great customer service but they were short staffed and we had to call them over a few times for just about everything. They were very accommodating and lovely but just not enough of them. Now for the food - OMG for the price I was expecting top notch and I regretted instantly deciding to come here for dinner. The Burrata was not Burrata - just melted cheese of a leaf. I was so embarrassed. My pasta was so overdone I didn t know whether I was eating the sauce or the linguine. Now for the mango dessert - which was just yoghurt and sliced mango and for that price it was ridiculous. Only redeeming factor was the Tiramisu which was large and very good. Now for the food
Kid-friendliness: Staff are very nice and friendly with kits Food
Excellent food, great service
Staff and service was incredible, and elevated the dining experience. Food had generous portions, and each course was a masterpiece, meticulously crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients that burst with flavor. Very well managed and would recommend!
Highly recommend this lovely restaurant. Great dinner, wonderful atmosphere and very attentive staff, will definitely be back. Food
I finally found a place at the Italiana, being on holiday visiting friends in Sydney and it was very difficult to find the Italian style as a service where they have a lot of attention to the customer. Very friendly waiter having problems with English!! Top environment!! I also took advantage of the club for a few drinks Best Friday night in Sydney
DONE AND DUSTED. Have loved this restaurant for years BUT it s hey day is gone! What was once expensive but delicious and generous, is now merger and plain which makes the price tag outrageous. I think the team here are now relying on past reputation and the playful party energy of the clients they attract who bring their good vibes to a great atmosphere because they certainly aren t creating it through food, flavour, quality or generosity. We ordered the fixed menu, which we ve had numerous times, we made the mistake of ordering the usual and we did not look closely at the menu to notice the change in what was included and more importantly what has been cut from the fixed menu. Assuming was the BIG mistake. Once there were olives and nibbles with bread now there s nothing. The starters were okay but incompatible on the palette and not introduced. We had to request bread, as the shortfall in food meant long periods of time between meals. When once you received 2 large plates of pasta you served yourself from it s now one small pasta the same for everyone which was pretty ordinary. The mains were once 3 large meat dishes and sides but tonight it was a single serve of very thin dry pasty fish (each person got about 3 cm) and a single serve of meat between 5 people that gave the 3 girls 2 slices and the 2 boys 3 and a bone to gnaw! The broccoli and lettuce were the nicest offerings which I could do at home. The chef needs review what he is delivering to meet the Uccello brand. There was definitely not ample food for the money. There was no waiter check in to see how we were tracking and could not catch anyones eye as they were all run off their feet. They are definitely understaffed to service their clients to the standard of Uccello s reputation, location, and expense implies would be delivered. The head waiter is just too tall and needs to look down at the tables rather than scanning the room for ??? Both our finished pasta and main plates sat for more than 10 minutes and we started to stack them ourselves to lean into the conversation. The bill delivery was clumsy.. Choose not to say anything at the time some to maintain our good time vibes. Sadly we won t be back. Time to find a new fav.
Great Italian food and service!
Not the best food for the price you pay . The only thing I liked was the bread Food
Both pastas were top quality - spinner crab linguine was the best dish! The focaccia, freshly made daily - as simple as it was - was one of the dishes too Very friendly service!
Wasn t the worst but definitely wasn t good Italian food. And the price does not match the quality.
Excellent food in this place cannot overshadow the abysmal service and staff adding a few dollars to your bill because they think you wouldn t notice. I have booked Uccello for my birthday after visiting it before - it looked like a great place and the food was incredible, so I thought it would be an excellent venue to spend my special day. I thought wrong. Staff was incredibly inattentive, forgetting parts of our order and the food took more than an hour to arrive. On multiple occasions when we were trying to get the waiter s attention, we were ignored, same with the person who was serving us wine. The experience was so unpleasant that we decided to skip the dessert (although I was very much looking for their tiramisu and maybe having a little candle and a happy birthday song from my friends), we paid and left. When I was looking at the bill the next morning I ve noticed that the price of some entrees and the sparkling wine was not matching the price on the menu. For example, they ve charged $80 per bottle of sparkling, when the price was $78, $30 on a $28 entree. In the grand scheme of things, this is not a huge amount and not something I would go and dispute with them, but it just added to the whole unpleasant experience of the venue and made me question the integrity of their staff. I would not return and wouldn t recommend any of my friends to go there. Although their food is absolutely incredible.
Very popular restaurant with trendy atmosphere. Food was fine but it was too expensive -not a fine dining experience as the my Pork dish was a bit too fatty and the music was too loud.
Hands down the best Oysters in Sydney. Ragu Pappardelle is also fantastic. Never had a bad experience here!
Upbeat restaurant, very tasty Italian food, loved every single course. Staff were great and attentive. I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely recommend especially for a group booking.
Great place!
Great Italian dining experience overlooking the ivy pool. Pricey but worth it. Try the tiramisu
Food was nice but service wasnt the best. Went for Valentines Day and was meant to be a special table organised for us and we were pretty much ignored the whole time, not able to order an cocktails because they took away our menu and never came and checked on us except to bring the meals. There was 45mins between meals and didnt finish until12am, not at all by choice. Not sure where the special treatment memo got lost but we came to the conclusion someone else was being doted on instead of us as everyone around us was being very well looked after. Otherwise maybe we just looked too young. Still not a good excuse for not the highest quality service
Very nice food but portions a bit small. Best tiramisù I had here in Australia!
Probably the best creation of merivale so far , food , service + vibes 10/10
Nice Ambience, Nice Foods! Have a great birthday here
The restaurant has a nice atmosphere as it is next to Ivy Pool. The food was good overall. I personally found the shrimp, kingfish, and steak to be the most delicious. Pasta is just so-so. The staff are all friendly too. To go to the bathroom, you had to go down one floor, which was a bit inconvenient.
nice servers, food was not amazing relative to price but amazing atmosphere and great drinks.
Lovely server Marina. Veal was lovely, pasta with pigs hed was below average. Steak was OK and the snapper was over cooked, dry and tough. Price is on the high side because of the location and Merivale name, certainly not based on the quality of food.
Little loud but food is amazing.
Great food and great service.
The service the food the atmosphere all just superb. Only the girl at ground level entrance let the team down. Didnt speak English!! Order the Zucchini flowers are dream like. Highly recommended.
Very pleasant and good food served by a very pleasant and professional staff. An enjoyable afternoon to be repeated
Very very nice food
Beautiful setting and great staff. Food is not that old school Nona style of Italian cooking but a more reworked modern affair. A bit on the pricey side. The oysters were amazing. Our Bistecca was a little underdone. The lobster linguine was a little underwhelming. Pork ragu was nice. Kingfish crudo nice. Beef carpaccio was great. Yamba prawns were not worth being $20 each! Veal agnolotti disappointing and the spanner crab linguine was ok. Service was great.
Good dining experience.
Good italian food
Like everything merivale, you really can t go wrong here. Went for a business lunch and was perfect. The staff are great and the food was excellent. Definitely a top-tier restaurant in Sydney
Was pretty quiet considering it was a Saturday night, however food was decent, a highlight was beef carpaccio and the spanner crab linguine!
Amazing experience good vegetarian choices
Exceptional service with exquisite food and fine beverages. Highly recommend. Must have a try in summertime.
Very friendly staff, very decent food, Zucchini is a must, was hesitant at the beginning as the Menu has confused me a bit, but Shani made everything clear, her way and knowledge of every single dish made me trust her recommendations, every dish she recommended was
Good service and entrees. Hosts did a great job. My vegetarian main dish was a little bit of a let down (too hard, not very tasty). Would return only for the AMEX Moet offer!
Excellent food, great location!
Just an average restaurant in Sydney. The staffs was friendly, atmosphere was good. All of the entrees seem to be great but the main cause are really disappointed in terms of taste and price. I would recommend just ordering only drink with an entrees and enjoy.
What a perfect experience we had at Ucello. From the check-in process to settling the account. Each member of the Ucello team looked after our table with many personal touches and great service. The staff glided effortlessly through the restaurant, and all of them seemed happy, which was palpable. The food was exquisite complimented by a great wine, their selection of wine is impressive. Thank you for a wonderful end to end dining experience.
Very vibrant Saturday night - with the adjacent pool bar at full throttle and full volume, made for a noisy but energetic vibe. Staff were cheerful and engaging, food is pricey but decent - the mains were a bit underwhelming but the appetisers and primi courses were all on point. Just dont go for quiet conversation...
Great spot for lunch on a sunny day overlooking the pool. Amazing dishes, we shared the whole duck amongst 4 people , most had the crab pasta as a main, highly recommend, fantastic service and atmosphere!
Dined here a few times. Always a lovely experience on a nice day. Very unique atmosphere overlooking the pool. Would recommend requesting a table outside.
Try the double fried potatoes
Attended as part of large group and had the set menu. At this price point ($140pp - essentially fine dining level) quality of food was significantly below average (nothing was particularly tasty / memorable, steak was low quality meat etc). But it s the amount of food that really stood out. Individual portion mains were allocated to groups of four. Desserts were individual sized portions too that were supposed to be split between 4 people. Plenty of cheap sides though - rather plain broccolis and potatoes . Most of us felt hungry at the end of the dinner after paying more than $350pp including drinks This place used to be good. Fix your processes guys - your business should be not about saving costs but making your patrons happy so that they come back. I certainly won t
In typical Merivale style, Ucello is trendy. Situated by the poolside of the Ivy precinct, it is chilled, funky and young. The food is tasty and quantity mighty generous. So generous that we had over-ordered with no recommendation by our waiter to reduce our order. The two of us ended up ordering 3 entrees to share, 1 main each and 2 sides to share, plus some starters to kick us off. We also had dessert. Most memorable were the king fish ceviche and beef carpaccio. And I loved the mango and ricotta dessert - light and refreshing. Overall, food was delish and well plated but lacked the warmth rustic touch. Service was friendly and pleasant but feedback on over-ordering would have been well appreciated. Atmosphere was cool but at times too noisy to hear the conversation going on at my table. I could return but there are also many other nice places to try around town.
Felt like I was in Italy! Authentic Italian food and vibes. Thank you Chef Noel for your hospitality
Service was outstanding and a great place to go for dinner. It can be a bit hard to find, but once you find it such a good atmosphere. The dessert was the winner for me. They definitely had an interesting special for the evening, which was a chicken in a wedding dress... I guess they were being creative on that one!
Staff very friendly, atmosphere was great. They went over and above. A great night with great food!
Beautiful, tasty, fresh produce food! The dishes look simple, but the flavours you get are mouth-watering! Friendly staff! Gets very loud during the weekend. Food : 5/5
We had a very nice lunch with a good atmosphere, delicious pastas.Beautiful swimming pool and view. Nice dessert and excellent service.
Maybe the real chef was on holiday, but the food I had was way below average, unbalanced flavor, over cooked fish for 48bux with fish bones inside that even 10dollar Coles salmon doesnt. I hope it doesnt represent the restaurants true capabilities. Those are beginner mistakes that you see in a high end restaurant. The service was great though.
Great restaurant and good food and service. Be sure to go to the pool bar afterwards on a hot day !!!
Elegant and chic decor in creme tones throughout. Food and cocktails were delicious. Tried multiple starters and pastas all were on point. Highly recommend la passione for a cocktail.
The food was really good but we waited a long time to receive it, it s definitely on the pricier side. The staff were super friendly and attentive. We got the steak, chicken, broccolini, fried potatoes and Ragu pasta.
Really enjoyed this experience, service was excellent, couldn t fault it. Possibly helped we were with a member so received the VIP treatment. Great decor, really do feel like you have transported from Sydney CBD to a Mediterranean hotspot. We shared the chargrilled prawns, prosciutto san Daniele, wood roasted octopus & zuccini flowers to start...now I am fortunate to dine at lots of great restaurants and it s not often I walk away feeling like I would go back for everything again! It was all so good and had a slightly unique Flare. For mains we shared the bistecca fiorentina and a special not on the menu of whole lobster tagliolini that was incredible. Even the sides where special. I don t often say this about Merivale, but considering how many cocktails we all had and the amount of quality food I was surprised when the bill came and it wasn t as pricey as I expected. Don t get me wrong, it s up there, worked out just over $200 a head but I have picked up far more damaging bills for far inferior quality, quantity and service! I ll definitely go back and soon.
Alaistar was a great host, made the vibe and experience a memory to remember. Will be coming back. Absolute legend. Thank you :)
Management needs a complete overhaul!!!! The menu is overpriced, boring and outdated. Service was good (saving grace) The bathroom situation is very poor The wine list was good although we waited far too long for our drinks I ll travel a little bit further next time and hit Ormeggio at the spit for REAL and exciting Italian food. Uccello..... fail!!!! Get a manager that understands food. Highly disappointed
Always great for a ladies night out. food is amazing
Service and timing of meals were not planned accordingly for 1 hat restaurant.
Excellent vibe , beautiful layout , love the food so fresh and taste wonderful , service is excellent the staff are so lovely , the place is open to a pool party ambiance is so nice.
Came here as part of a large group with the large set menu and the team were very accommodating with vegetarian dishes. Delicious food, beautiful flavours. Only comment is music was very loud even at 6pm and conversation was near impossible
Nice cakes and muffins, dont like the fact that coffee is served in plastic mugs, seems unhygienic to me, orange cake was lovely, but only scoring 3 for this place.
Great ambience Italian restaurant located in the ivy with views of the ivy pool
I seriously don t understand why people rate this place so highly. Had dinner with my daughter. Prior to sitting down I ordered a tap beer and a glass of coke. WOW!! The price came to $19.50. Talk about daylight robbery. We sat down and ordered two different types of pasta dishes. I had the spanner crab pasta. Nothing special for the price of $42 for a plate of pasta. Ive had better pasta at No Names in Darlinghurst for $10. I was expecting something great but got something worse. Didn t feel well after eating their pasta. Stomach began churning and later ended up with an upset stomach on the toilet. The crab was obviously off. Thanks for the expensive clean out Uccello. Service was good hence the one star rating.
Delicious food, the atmosphere was great and the service was good too. It was tricky to find the restaurant to start off with but that was the small downside. Everything else was nice. Lamb Ragu was very good!
Great atmospehere for a celebration. Loud music from the pool bar next door, but is what makes this place unique. Food was delicious and service was excellent.
Portion is a bit small but tasty.
Really nice food with friendly service and nice atmosphere. Definitely worth trying.
Ate using the fork 50 percent off food offer. Bistecca was great... touch on the rare side of medium rare if any criticism. Will be back
Very tasty, service somewhat unfocused
Food was quite nice, drink selection good and service was quite attentive. However it is overpriced for the quality.
Excellent start to finish. Highly recommend the bistecca; perfectly cooked (rare) & had a nice caramelised crust. Buffalo mozzarella starter & the broccolini were also really good but the bistecca is not to be missed.
Stunning pastas
Modern, delicious food, fabulous service and has a great vibe.
Overpriced. Far too cooked pasta with lots of parsley on top. Seemed they wanted to disguised any other flavor. Wont come back
Booked a lunch for 6 people and were placed adjacent to the pool. This gives the table a great open feel, while still being out of the sun. The food and wine were exceptional as expected. We ordered a recommended mix of seafood entrees to share and the staff were on point with their selections. For the pasta fanatics, the special on the day was a chilli lobster pasta and i would recommend to share, with 2 people.
Great vibe. Nice service. Superb food. Highly recommended if you re around the CBD and want an enjoyable dining experience next to a pool, or just want to grab a drink by the pool with your friends.
Great food great service by the pool! Loved the staff s attention to details. I loved the king fish tartare. My only negative is that I wished the smoking area at the pool wasn t so close to the restaurant side.
Service was slightly below average and the food as well. The staff could not recommend the food confidently as the staff seemed new? What she said was she hasnt tried the food items I asked so she was implying she cant recommend items. Disappointing. Good vibe tho, I wanna try dinner again just because it could be better with an experience staff+ the night atmosphere would look better than lunch.
Uccello This Italian casual dining restaurant from the Merivale Group is located in the famous Ivy Pool and has a romantic open terrace overlooking the cool pool. Living up to its reputation, it has maintained 1 Chef hat in the Good Food Guide for several years... No matter how much you think about it, the taste of the food seems to have little importance in the Good Food Guides standards. With 5 members, I ordered and tasted a variety of menu items: 4 antipasti, 3 pasta, 4 main dishes, 3 sides, and 4 desserts. All of the pasta dishes I was looking forward to were disappointing, and the Bistecca steak that came as the main dish was only a little good... The rest wasnt very attractive, so I dont think Ill visit again unless theres a half-price event or someone buys it for me. The food was disappointing, but the staffs service was good so I was less upset. I once again thought that most restaurants run by large corporations have good locations and great interiors and atmospheres, but many of them are expensive and the taste is not that great compared to their reputation. #Australia #Australian Daily Life #Australian Restaurants #Sydney #Sydney Daily Life #Sydney Restaurants #Restaurant Recommendations #Restaurant Instagram #Restaurants Exploration #Sydney Restaurant Recommendations #Restaurant Tour #Travel Stargram #Crazy about Travel #Restaurants Travel #Michelin Guide #Italian Restaurant #bistecca #steak
Food was fantastic! They just reopened a week ago. New menu is even better than before. Prosciutto was beautiful and definitely need to try the rum baba!
Excellent service
Loved our dinner tonight at Ucello. Atmosphere is cozy, food delicious and staff were friendly. Service was impeccable, we ll be back!
Beautiful setting, beautiful atmosphere, attentive staff.
Amazing dishes...
The ambience of the restaurant was nice. Right beside the Ivy pool with nice music in the background. Customer service was also good. As for the food, what a disappointment! My friends meals were average, and as for mine, my chicken was honestly gross. It tasted like it had been boiled & then lightly seared. My friend had a taste of my chicken and she actually spat it out. There was no flavour at all, it was just yuck. Their dessert menu sounded so yummy but the only nice thing on there was the tiramisu which had all the right aromas and flavours that a real Italian tiramisu should have. The other desserts were bland. However their cocktails and mocktails were yummy! The only nice part of the meal were the zucchini flowers & the sourdough bread, although the bread had no butter so again, a bit basic. Nice experience in terms of a night out with the right summer vibes, but in terms of the food I wouldn t go back or recommend this place!
Delicious food, very nice ambiance
Cool place and great food.
Very busy place Lively environment with music, good food and drinks along with pool club and very friendly staff.
Great food, great service, great wine, great views. Whats not to love?
Very nice and rally yummy food
Great and innovative Italian cuisine
FOOD expensively great, very trendy and noisy
Great upscale place in the Iyv. The swimming pool adds to an amazing service and athmosphere. Food is excellent, I recommend the swordfish
Great ambience, welcoming staff. I really liked presentation of food and flavours cocktails.
Nice service
We ordered the Tagliolini spanner crab and Westholme Wagyu rump cap. The crab is seasoned with the perfect level of spice that gives a nice kick to the meal. The Wagyu was cooked to perfection and just melted in your mouth. Overall the atmosphere is quite relaxed although upmarket.
Office Christmas lunch at Uccello Nov 19 for seven persons. My feedback is that lunch was very ordinary. We ordered grilled prawns for entree, which were tasty but very overcooked and dry. Several people ordered the fish of the day for the main course, which was lukewarm, overcooked, rubbery and tasteless. The portion was strikingly small. Two people ordered the Tiramisu for dessert, which was watery and tasteless. Both desserts were left half-eaten. My experience at Uccello was extremely disappointing. We enjoyed ourselves, and the staff were polite and professional. But for $160pp I would expect the food to be of a MUCH higher standard, particularly when the restaurant didnt appear particularly busy. I did complain to the restaurant, and they sent me an apology email and promised to call which never happened. What surprises me is that in Aust 90% of people that have a bad experience wont complain, they will simply go elsewhere. Having been in business for 30 years, I know that complaints are gold. You have to treat them extremely seriously as they are a rare insight into how your customers perceive you and a gift to help you improve. Ignoring complaints is rude and arrogant. I am a great fan of Merivale Group Restaurants. Unfortunately, this is not one of them.
