Mordeo Bistro & Bar in Sydney

Came here for an early dinner before a show. The staff were super nice and attentive. It was a bit noisy as people were having their after-work social drinks outside. We had squid ink pasta (very good) and the fish of the day (salmon was beautifully cooked but was served with fries - a less healthy combination?) overall very good experience!

We go there around 6pm on weekdays and there are not many people. I just sit down and ask for a seat. I ask you what water you want. I order the sparkling. After drinking for a while, I think about what I want to eat. In the meantime, I will help you pour water. It seems that I asked you to order a meal quickly, but in the end, I ordered a steak of the day, a French fries, and a glass of Pinot Noir for drinks. Let s talk about the French fries first. They are crispy, flavorful and hot, and the portions are quite large. One person can feel full. Its a little troublesome to have a steak. I asked for medium rare, but when I got it, it actually seemed to be medium. It was less red and pinkish in color. The juice was normal, but there was no vegetables. The size was thin like French food. The taste of the wine was normal. The service is actually pretty good. I told her that she was a little too mature, but she apologized and asked someone to follow me again. Although I concluded that their medium, rare, and style would make me choose rare next time , but If someone follows up, it s okay. The bill was AUD 76, I was given a 5% tip, and the bill was paid in cash by credit card.

Very solid mid-tier Italian restaurant - think Ventuno, Fratelli Fresh and Matteos like. A couple of the staff are a bit weird (one has that fully imported Italian curtness/coldness and the other is over-camp and annoyingly unintelligible) but the food is always consistent. Solid pizzas, changing fresh pastas and solid meat dishes. Charcoal-esque chicken, consistent steak and fish of the day. Menu is relatively small and reasonably priced. Wine list is excellent. The formula works. The decor is a bit dated and the Deutsche Bank aesthetic is not ideal, but its still a very solid working week venue.

We had dinner before a show. The service was prompt and efficient. The waitress told us there were only two dishes left of the meal we ordered and quickly ran into the kitchen to secure it for us. The food was delicious, as always. We had the Beef Brisket with Macaroni. No time for dessert unfortunately (our fault). They were happy to split the bill between us so thats always very helpful.

Excellent friendly service. Knowledgeable wait staff. Food looks and tastes good. The atmosphere will be better when the very noisy construction stops across the road (this is no fault of the business).

Second time dining here. Food was good again and couldn t fault the service . We sat outside last time, which we would normally prefer, but glad we were inside this time due to loud construction going on nearby.

Menu is great, not extensive, but adequate selection to choose from ( although there was no chocolate item on the dessert menu). Service was friendly and attentive. Food was tasty. The food was just the quality youd get at a bar. It wasnt that delicious. The minute steak was tough and the cheese pasta hardened so much that it didnt even taste like the truffle at all.

The food overall was okay... but by all accounts, everyone had finished eating and there was still water left in the cup, so I sneakily poured some new sparkling water into the cup from behind. I paid for two bottles of water... haha Koreans, be careful...!

The food and service were good. The facilities are good and different from normal in a big open space under a building. Unfortunately, there is a massive construction on the other side of the road where a crave was working until late and super noisy. That was a shame. I would came back when the construction is finished. It seems that it has only started.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mordeo Bistro with a group of business colleagues and was thoroughly impressed. The menu offered a range of dishes, each prepared with exceptional taste and attention to detail. Located in an atrium below a business complex, the location is unassuming but nice enough. The server was attentive and the food (pizza and an appetizer) was good.

I ordered truffle pizza, steak, and broccoli side menu (served with balsamic vinegar sauce). I liked that they refilled water frequently and were friendly. Australian food is generally spicy, but this one was good because it wasnt salty, and the pizza dough was chewy and the ends were crispy, so it was delicious. I ended up dipping it in the balsamic vinegar sauce that came on the side, and it went well. The truffle pizza was delicious, and the broccoli side dish was a texture I had never tried before, but it was a flavor I would remember again.

We went to Mordeo Bistro & Bar with our friends. The service was outstanding, with the staff being incredibly attentive and responsive to our needs. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the wagyu beef, the fish of the day, and a pizza, and each dish was cooked to perfection. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We will definitely be returning again.

Great place to organise an after work drinks functions for 20-40 people with minimal complication.

So ...one star is not for the food, which was decent, or the service which was great. It is for the suprise 10% service fee at the end, which our server said is a policy of the restaurant. I have an alternative policy suggestion - increase your prices by 10% and let people decide if they want to come rather than spring it on them last minute.

Lovely dining indoors or in a courtyard. Attentive staff. We shared truffle veg pizza and salad. Lovely light pizza with balanced taste. Relaxed venue, enjoyed glass wine and great coffee.

Dont get me wrong it s a lovely dining area close to a waterfall fountain. The service was great and efficient but the food was missing some flavours , it was blend except for the hummus , there was not enough prawns in the pasta as well. Wheelchair accessibility: Very easy access

An amazing dinner , staff were very pleasant , so attentive , food was delicious , overall a wonderful night out. Would highly recommend. Vegetarian options: I had a kale pesto pasta. It was the most delicious pasta I ve ever eaten. A slight taste of Lemon made it so tangy and to think I don t like pesto !! The olives and buttata was so so good.

The food was delicious and location for us very convenient but the standout was waitstaff. It was a busy night and for just a couple they were attentive in relocating us to comfortable outdoor space. So, highly recommended and enjoyed.

We had a wonderful meal and took the option of the specials. The Kingfish crudo was delicious and the Fish of the Day (Barramundi) and the Pumpkin Ravioli were fabulous. The service from all the staff was excellent. The team friendly and we never felt rushed. Would highly recommend.

Tasty food and lovely staff. It s probably a nice place to dine at but do not recommend them for functions. Had a work event for around 50 people. Pre communication was great but they did not seem equipped for our event. We chose canapés and drinks packages spending around $100 per person. Unfortunately the food service was really slow (not sure if they were short staffed). One small platter came out every ten minutes on average the first hour. To the point where some of our party left to eat elsewhere. The drinks service was a bit weird too. They just kept bringing out trays of beer without catering for the specific drinks each individual wanted from the package we ordered. Lastly, the area we were allocated was really too crammed for 50 people. Not to mention it was a really hot and humid day. To be fair they offered to let us view the venue beforehand but we couldn t being from interstate. Some of the food did end up being really tasty. It s probably a decent restaurant to have a meal at as a small group.

Not only was the food amazing, but the young waitress from the cech Republic was so lovely, she made our experience enjoyable and special.

One of the best establisments in Sydney, good food, good service and great atmosphere

The food was reasonably good and well-presented, even if a little over-priced for what it was, but the service at the end of the meal was decidely substandard. The ambience was very noisy to the point of being difficult to have a conversation. We wanted to pay the bill with two credit card payments of unequal amounts that we specified (reflecting each persons proportionate share of the bill), but the waitress refused to allow unequal payments and said she was only allowed to accept two equal payment amounts. We pointed out this was ridiculous as she had to enter each payment amount into the portable EFTPOS terminal and there was no reason she couldnt just enter the two amounts we had specified rather than her typing in the amount for each transaction she had calculated as being 50% of the total. Clearly Mordeo has no regard for their customers needs ahead of their own intransigence. We wont be eating there again as a result.

Had a very good mushrooms pizza and vegetarian pasta where we decided to add a burrata. Very delicious bottle of shiraz. Amazing service! Would come back!

We enjoyed our experience at Mordeo. The staff were courteous, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, tasty, and the servings quite generous. I ordered the crab spaghetti (without the chilli) which was lovely. The venue was located in an atrium type set up for outside or inside seating.

Awesome meals and service. Location is great in the Atrium with very good. Will be coming back. Just a pity there was no sparkling mineral water available, but we made do with the alternative. Vegetarian options: Very good Risotto

Came here for a Work event in May 2023. The chicken schnitzel was actually butterflied and crumbed thighs - thin enough to use as a drink coaster, and about as tough. Im glad to see its no longer on the menu. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their dishes. I no longer ask How could they possibly mess up a schnitzel?.

A good place to eat outside when the weather isn t great. Excellent, attentive service. Food was served quickly and tasted great. Menu has minimal options for gluten free or vegetarian dishes. Espresso martini was very strong and a bit bitter, but the Campari margaritas were delicious.

Located underneath Deutsche bank place, this is not only a corporate hangout but also a real gem of a restaurant. The menu is Mediterranean and is amazing and decently priced. Service is on point and not overly intrusive. Great restaurant for this end of town

This is a great place in the CBD. Good food, good wine and for a place in a large open foyer it s really intimate too.

We had a large group event (33 people), with a preordered lunch set menu. The lunch was well organised, with quick responses from Mordeo team and attention to details. The food was great, offering a nice variety of dishes, everything looked appetising and tasted delicious. Very recommended!

Any food business that can last in the city of Sydney for 10 years is doing a lot right. Well done Nick and staff. I have been on 2 occasions recently and enjoy the food, drinks, service and grateful I know a place where I can eat well, not feel rushed and walk away feeling sated in all the good ways. The food is fresh, tasty, well prepared, innovative and you know the kitchen is on point. The service is attentive and friendly and there is enough staff that you are being served as opposed to waiting to be served. Thank you all. I wish I knew about this place sooner. Fine dining in a casual atmosphere that works for me. I consider myself a fussy eater, I know how to cook and enjoy restaurants that can make ingredients have a party in my mouth. The cocktails add a little bit more fun and we look forward to coming back soon. Thanks again to Nick and his team.

$16 for ordinary takeaway pasta with indifferent service to boot. To add insult to injury an extra 50 cents for an additional sprinkle of Parmesan. Coffee is terrible. Avoid.

Excellent variety of menu options. Great for one, two, or a group. There will definitely be something on the menu for everyone. All dishes were beautifully presented and delicious. Service and atmosphere are excellent also.

I ve been here for the dinner. Very friendly stuff, tasty food, stylish place. I got baked Gorgonzola (have you ever tried? Usually we baked Camembert.. and this one would definitely become favourite option for the starter) and octopus as entrée. Good choice of ingredients (nothing unwanted). Then I got niocchi - nice choice, there were very tender, with tomato sauce and stracciatella. As for desert the best choice for chocolate lovers is Flourless chocolate cake (with kinda berry jam and ice cream). Definitely recommend this place

Decent food and most staff were nice, but there s one particular older blonde lady that was really rude. We asked for chips which we assumed would be normal fries but we got the palenta chips instead. So we asked a waitress if it s okay to change it to fries because that s what we wanted and she was really nice about it. However, an older blonde waitress came and was really rude and cold, seemed annoyed that we asked for this, and was cold each time she came to us afterwards. I don t usually get receipts or calculate how much I paid but this lady seemed very off, so I calculated it on my way home and she ended up charging us an extra $15 for the palenta chips anyway, even after she took them away! Really unprofessional

A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! Staff was fantastic, impeccable manners and super helpful. The lady came to see us and said she went back to to the kitchen to speed up order on the fries for the little ones as she noticed they were very tired. I was so grateful! Now the food... OMG, what a treat! fine dining right there! astonishing food, simply delicious. Everything was delightful and felt very much 5 stars. Loved every minute of it! thank you :-D

What a surprise, in all the best ways. Was expecting it be be far more sterile and corporate given the location. Not so! It was a cool vibey, happening place. The giant lampshades in the outdoor part of the indoor-outdoor spaces were a great feature. The smell of the woodfire oven was fabulous. Best of all were the welcoming smiles of all the staff and the sheer expertise of the warm, friendly host Alex. She managed a very busy early evening full restaurant with great aplomb. (Maybe it was such a happening vibe as it was a Thursday in the city after work (and Thursday being the new Friday and all that). Anyway it was great, the food was fabulous and the service second to none. We are new Mordeo fans!

We had a luncheon for three. Service was once again efficient, punctual, and friendly. The portions are pleasantly sizeable. We a thoroughly enjoyed our meals, complimented by a nice dry French Rose.

Last Thursday we had a business lunch at Mordeo. As always, the service was friendly, attentive and spot on with recommendations. The food was delicious and the wine selection on-point. Id highly recommend Mordeo for a work function or just a private lunch or dinner.

Great food, quick service and not badly priced

I hade the risotto which was tasty but not exeptional. Staff and service was ok. I bit over priced, but still worth a try if you like Mediterranean food.

A bistro style restaurant set on the ground floor of an office tower. The food was well cooked and presented and the staff friendly and capable. A limited menu and modern work canteen feel. Maybe better for lunch than dinner?

Terrible experience - booked set menu lunch for 12 people but one person fell ill and two could not make it due to unforeseen work requirements. Mordeo charges us for 12 even though there was only 9 of us - excuse was they set aside food for 12 and we didn t give them any notice. The only item that could possibly have required setting aside was main course since other items were a charcuterie plate, dips, green salad and polenta chips (given number of people at the restaurant it did not look like they catered those items just for us or that they had to put special orders in for those items). Main course was choice between fish, steak and schnitzel. Again, hardly something that requires special ordering and unlikely to be something that will go to waste if they sell 3 less of those on one day. They operate in the city and should understand there is occasional possibility of people not being able to turn up for unforeseen work commitments. We were also charged a staff gratuity of $36. The manager ended up (reluctantly) taking $55 off but bottom line is what should have costed $552 costed $713, an unconscionable profit of $161 for them. Will never go there again and will be sure to let our corporate team know it is an inappropriate venue for group functions.

Bistro dining had wonderful atmosphere. Service was friendly and helpful. Food was wonderful. The fish of the day was fresh, beautifully flavoured, and the desert was delicious. Portions are perfect. Kid-friendliness: Had a great lunch with my two sons 17 and 14. They loved the gnocchi and deserts.

Pretty good service although the food took a long time to come out. Coffee was excellent. Baked eggs with feta was definitely lacking feta, but was served super hot. Plenty of butter with all of the toast served for breakfast, omelette was jammed packed with mushrooms but could do with a sauce. Fresh orange juice served in a bottle was great for kids.

Mordeo is surprisingly cosy given its location, and the experience and food were out of this world! The mix of southern Mediterranean cuisine is extremely tasty, and they had a fine selection of wines to pair with it. The service was impeccable and far better than expected given the relatively modest size of the bill. We had taken a work colleague out for dinner and found the entire experience delightful.

Sooooo meh. But typical Sydney...paying lots for nothing. Our focacia....was...not sure what it was- absolutely soaked in oil to the point where it didnt look like bread. Pizza was...soooooo mediocre. Should have stayed home and ordered fast food pizza kinda situation. Service was attentive however and polite.

I was looking for a restaurant that serves healthy food & salads and Modeo came up. I had the fish cakes, which were ok... nothing special... I then had a chicken salad which was very tasty. Mordeo is a classy place, the staff are very efficient and one of them was very friendly. Would I go again? I would not drive a mile out of my way, but if I am in the neighborhoud, yes... I would definitely return.

Third time here, food and wine were delicious. Service was a bit slow at the start, but that was just one particular waiter, and it was busy. The waitress that looked after us towards the end, Rebecca, was awesome and she recommended a fantastic wine! Only four stars for atmosphere as we were seated in the corner inside, the outside area would have gotten five stars. But again, they were fully booked so understandable. Would like to see some more vegetarian options, as one of our group was vegetarian and only three of the mains were suitable.

Great place for casual drinks and food.

The banquet was quite minimal - had to share a tiny dessert between 4 people so everyone got a tablespoon each! Also, very difficult to have a conversation when seated inside as the noise bounces against the walls. Only heard what the person next to me said.

It was the most delicious Italian restaurant I had in Sydney. It wasnt too salty, and the pizza in particular was most similar to Italian dough!!

Great dining environment, semi-outdoor space, airy. The meals are delicious, the steaks and fish steaks are delicious, and the service is also very good.

Always great food and atmosphere

We had our Christmas end of year work do for 8 people; they suggested the $55 Granda grazing menu with the 2.5-hour drinks package $35 per person. The food looked and tasted amazing and very attentive service. There was so much food, and they werent shy in our drinks service either. My experience from the booking to the end was seamless and highly recommend lunch/dinner at Mordeo!! Joe.

Amazing food, excellent service and a wonderful experience. I did some research and saw some great reviews for Mordeo so we booked for dinner and we werent disappointed. We sat inside the restaurant, highly recommend trying the Gin Basil Smash cocktail, it was divine. We had chorizo croquettes for entrees which were so delicious and then for main I had squid ink pasta and my husband had the bolognese. Both were absolutely amazing. We had a hiccup with my husbands main but this was rectified and dealt with extremely well and we are very happy with our experience at Mordeo. Well be back next time we visit the city. Thanks again keep up your great food and outstanding customer service.

Meals were good, outstanding anti pesto plate. I had the lamb rack, not sure what I was expecting with my main, dont have an exact complaint. Will have to revisit to make a proper culinary review. Wifes meal was a ragu, and was excellent. Mine was the rack of lamb, not sure. Most likely, my country taste budds are not in tune with such a dish. Hey, Ill be back.

Quite pricey, but overall great place. Highly recommend for an evening date :)

Im a regular here. Fresh pasta, made daily. You can see them making pasta in the morning when pocking up daily feind. Great service. Pasta avialable at lunch. Breakfast options include bakery as well as baguettes. Good food, good cofdee, highly recommended.

Great services and delicious food.

The restaurant serves fresh, delicious creatively created food in a southern european style. Even the home made hommus, pickles and sauces were amazing. Attentive friendly service in a buzzing heart of the city location. A great lunch or dinner choice for well priced high quality food. Vegetarian options: The restaurant checked with us if we were vegetarian and while were not, we noted the menu included many vegetarian options.

Had a mid week dinner here with a friend, we ordered the croquets a pizza and a pasta, it was all delicious! Service was really good, friendly and attentative. I would highly recommend and will be going back.

Its hard to find a really nice restaurant in the CBD. Mordeo was the perfect pre theatre date night spot. Thanks Bláithín for the chats and great service :-)

Decent hidden away small bar with good canapes and good service

We had our Christmas Lunch here for 27 people last week, and also in 2019. The food was fabulous, with us starting with freshly shucked oysters, followed by platters of king prawn skewers, grilled lamb cutlets, tomato & mozzarella arancini balls and mixed charcuterie boards. Their staff were fantastic delivering our pre-ordered mains and desserts. The communication and organisation between us and their Restaurant Manager left nothing to go wrong. The venue is underneath a large office building on the ground floor which allowed us to enjoy the large open outdoor space, without being held hostage by the weather. Most definitely 5 stars and 10/10 again from us !!

Food was fantastic - including the pizzas and pastas. Palenta chips were also 10/10. We ended up having the jugs of Sangria which were a great addition. Highly recommend.

Went for a work party. Its all outdoor sitting so be careful if you go on a cold or windy day. But the food and service was lovely. We had a set menu and the meal sizes were just right, can get a bit loud tho.

Amazingly good food for what initially looks like a busy post work drinks place but this was first class casual dining at a great price. If you are staying in the area make sure you eat here.

I had dinner with friends at Mordeo recently & we had the best time. Great atmosphere; easy to get to and the food was absolutely delicious. Good wine selection & the staff were attentive & friendly but very professional. I highly recommend this place & will def go back! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free catered for

Love the energy of this restaurant it s got that friends and family vibes. A place you can go just for drinks if you want or to sit down and have a nice meal and some cocktails. I will go back just to try some of their other cocktails. The food was a 9.5/10, beautiful with no complaints whatsoever. Recommended dishes
