Level 5 Customs House, 31 Alfred St, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia
Perched atop Customs House at Circular Quay, with spectacular sweeping views across Sydney Harbour, the restaurant has built its reputation over the past 22 years. Cafe Sydney is one of the city’s most iconic dining destinations. Consistently delivering excellent food, an innovative Australian wine list and faultless service, it’s no wonder. The menu showcases the finest local produce with seafood a Cafe Sydney speciality. Rock and pacific oysters, Morton Bay Bugs, Coffin Bay octopus and Humpty Doo Barramundi feature on the seasonally focused menu served alongside quality cuts of meats from Sydney’s top suppliers. All day dining. Join us for lunch, dinner and anytime in between.
Great place To be if you are looking for food with a great View. We tried the oysters, tartare and barramundi and everything was great.. they have a good selection of wine as well which is quite phenomenal.. the presentation and the service was all exceptional, in the deserts I felt lamington was exceptional
Food was good but nothing blew us away. I’d recommend the Tandoori Salmon and the Kingfish Carpaccio. Wonderful and attentive service team and an unbeatable view. Great for special occasions.
They are top notch in their service and menu options. Great staff, amazing ambiance We went for an office lunch, it was really nice for a big group. They managed end to end very well. They had a special vegan menu and yummy spritzers! Highly recommend for a big group and special events. The team was super alert about my vegan serving. I really appreciate that kind of specific details and thought they they put in We had dosa - coffee- spritzers - fish for my friends - salads … overall just amazing!
Left this review quite late but my family and I had wanted to celebrate my sisters 19th Birthday here in August. The service, the view, atmosphere and the food were top notch and worth every dollar we spent. I’m not sure when I’ll be in next, but I most certainly recommend this place and am keen for my next visit here in the future
Great view of Sydney harbour and the Harbour Bridge. There's a bit of a view of the opera house. The staff were extremely friendly and all the food we got were delicious. The downside would be the crowd and the food/service was a bit of a wait, naturally because this place was super busy, but we were not in a rush so we didn't mind it. I enjoyed dining here and would love to come back again on a new year!
Beautiful view and lovely food. Drinks are pricey but you would expect to pay that for it’s location The only thing I didn’t like was being escorted to the tables at the back half an hour prior to the booking time expiring. If you are only permitted 90 minutes at your table that should be stipulated when you book. It’s very awkward when they ask you to politely ‘move’ so that the table can be ‘reset’ for the next booking. For the price you pay you definitely should not be asked to move. No idea who thought of that rule at such an exclusive restaurant
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The atmosphere was great, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend coming during lunchtime to capture stunning pictures of the Harbor Bridge. The garlic bread was particularly impressive, perfectly complementing my steak. Overall, a fantastic dining experience!
We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Cafe Sydney and were treated like absolute royalty from the start to finish. All the food we had was impeccable with robust flavours that didn’t overpower each other. Highly recommend the swordfish and dessert platter! Our beautiful server was so attentive and nothing was too big or small of a request for her so kudos to the establishment and also to her personally for going above and beyond!
the taste sensation is incredible
Worst bunch of receptionists with rudest attitude in the world.
Had our yearly Christmas get together with some dear friends at Cafe Sydney, Loved the food, service was amazing and the view was spectacular BUT after spending more then $1,600.00 we we re slugged with a $160.00 surcharge due to us having a party of eight WOW asked why and their answer was it takes more time to service 8 people, but hey you make more money as well! So everyone should learn from our misfortune book two or three tables close by so you don t get scammed like we did, yes we found it in small print in their conditions afterwards, tell me who reads the terms and conditions of a restaurant before booking a table, well I do now! very disappointing David
Amazing food and ambience. The staff were friendly and made good suggestions for our wines and food thank you
Went for dinner one evening and the food was top notch. The service for the first 3/4 of the evening was great but did drop off noticeably towards the end. View was spectacular and would happily recommend.
Sitting there you can image what it was like 150+ years ago. Great atmosphere and staff. This was my first experience with meat pies (how did the US miss this tradition from the Brits?), it was amazing. I had a flight from their brewery. Loved the beers, some were experimental like Sagmans Sack (Kolsh with Salt Bush and Lemon Myrtle... tasted a bit like a mild gose). The Nelsons Blood porter was spot on perfect. All the tables have a reserved sign with a time slot for groups that called ahead (nice to do). But, no worries mate, grab any open table, or share one, find one thats an hour or two away, or just move when the party shows up.
We have never had a bad visit to Cafe Sydney. It is recommended to book a balcony table (well in advance) to enjoy the best experience. You simply cant beat the winning combination of Cafe Sydneys service, food and view. Perfect for sharing your special occasions with loved ones or just a lovely dining experience.
If you want to spoil someone with divine food, top shelf service, and amazing views, bring them here.
Excellent food and service from Catalin. One of, if not the best restaurant in Sydney.
Celebrating a big birthday and views were excellent. Service was good. Like most foods. Swordfish a bit disappointing. Food : 4/5 |
harbor bridge view Although the food portions are small, it is a restaurant with a great atmosphere that is great for special occasions. Lamb/beef/salad/dessert/wine cost about $230 for two people.
Fantastic Food, Stunning Views, and Exceptional Service Café Sydney is a standout dining experience with its unbeatable views of Sydney Harbour and impeccable food. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet welcoming, making it perfect for any occasion. While the delicious menu and stunning setting are impressive, the highlight of our visit was the outstanding service. Our server, Liami, was truly exceptional warm, attentive, and knowledgeable. They went above and beyond to ensure our experience was flawless, offering great recommendations and making us feel so well cared for. If you re looking for an unforgettable meal with world-class views and incredible service, Café Sydney is the place to go. Thank you, Liami, for making our visit so memorable!
Friendly staff, good food and great view!
Amazing
Had not visited for a few years and still a great venue. Excellent menu and food.
Distinctive restaurant on the 5th floor A unique view of Sydney Bridge It offers a unique experience in the art and taste of serving dishes. I ordered tandoori salmon, it was amazing I ordered naan bread of your choice with butter or garlic. I ordered potato balls I asked for soda water.. Note: Book a table through maps at a time that suits you before you go or come to the restaurant and wait a few minutes.
Top of the city with unbeatable views. Very cosy and excellent staff/service. Dietary restrictions: They cater for most dietary requirements here. Food : 5/5 |
Elaine the cashier held us to ransom, forcing us to stay at our table until she closes the bill. She implied the way we paid was illegitimate. We stayed at the table for another 30 mins without her clarifying that the bill we paid with split cards were okay. I am disappointed after paying $400 for 2 people
Headed to Chalkys for breakfast and settled for a French Toast and an Espresso. Was greeted with continuous crowd in the simple cafe. Only thing - felt that the French Toast was a tad too sweet with overpowering taste of berries. Food
Cafe Sydney delivered a superb Sunday lunch, on the balcony overlooking the harbour with terrific food, wine and service.
Have been a few times and enjoyed, but last visit very disappointing this time, small table for 4 people, hardley fit seafood platter which was set beautifully but only 3 portions of each seafood cut in half, 5 prawns , seafood was watery, mains very small and plating ordinary, fish dishes very nice, meat dishes a little fatty. Sorry to have to leave negative review as was our special place at one time.
Great place with an excellent atmosphere. Got an outside table with great viewe of the harbour. Food and service was excellent. Absolutely worth a visit.
The name Café is misleading, it is a (possibly high quality) restaurant on the 5th floor of a library without the typical sweets of a café
Beautiful atmosphere & top class service
Great food and great view!
Simply a must. Get a reservation in advance and ask for outdoor seating.
Had a very special evening at Cafe Sydney. Food, service and of course the view were top notch. Highly recommended.
We walked up and attempted to get a table for coffee and soft drinks but we were told this is for dining only, place was empty so they cud have easily made money of us as well as possibly tempt us to eat after we sit but they were uncompromising and rude! Don t waste your money there and go somewhere where you will be welcomed regardless of how much you want to spend. No wonder it was not busy
Food was wonderful, great service, impeccable views
We picked this place based on the Google reviews and Amex global dining recommendations, and really regretted our pick! We went there on a Sunday for lunch, atmosphere was descent, view was good (albeit there are many other places in that area with similar if not better view with much better food). Food and service was terrible. They kept coming to pick food and drinks when clearly we weren t done. I kept saying we weren t done and yet they would come to pick our plates up shortly after and never ask if we are done, how rude! I had to repeat myself a few times to say we weren t done eating. Sourdough bread was so hard it wasn t possible to chew. Food had no taste whatsoever. What a waste of money, hope this review helps someone to make a better choice than we did!
Beautiful place to eat, but rubbish service and measly sized meals. Past its best sadly.
Combine a lovely vibe with the perfect dish. Its the best choice for a first meal when Ive landed.
View was spectacular and cant fault the service, but the food was a bit underwhelmeming, especually for the price you pay.
Stellar
Cafe Sydney is a wonderful spot to celebrate a special occasion. Great vibe, amazing harbor views and super service!! Best of all, for our family, a whole menu of vegetarian options!! Often there s only one option on the menu that s vegetarian!! Thanks Cafe Sydney for a sensational meal and a very special night!
Fantastic view.
Date 04/10/2024 Time 12:30 Place was amazing expect for the hostess at the door that was rude and we nearly left due to her (Short in stature with red hair and glasses). We ask to just sit down to have a drink while waiting for next ferry home and she tried to swindle us into the eating in the main restaurant(made it sound like no option other than to order food). I dont think people realise how important this roll is as the first person clients meet and if I was the owener I would be pretty annoyed that my staff nearly cost me cash in the door when there was still plenty of tables open.
Excellent service. Loved the way our waiter, Ben, was thorough with explanation of the different food options on the menu and reassurance of our nut allergies. Loved the view of the harbour bridge. Food was exquisite. Barramundi and sirloin steak were exquisite . Highly recommended.
Exceptional view, quality of food and beverages and service.
Very good Resturant. The views are nice of the harbor the food is fresh and the service is top notch.
Good
Ronnie was a fantastic waiter I loved his enthusiasm to serving food and Having a laugh With us. And the food was amazing!
Rooftop bar/restaurant with some nice views of the bay. Menu is pretty basic when it comes to food. They offer a good selection of drinks. Staff was friendly, they also have indoor dining.
Amazing view and good food. We had to change our table as I am afraid of insects and there was a cockroach in the balcony ( which is inevitable in Sydney). The staff were really understanding and switched us to a different table.
It is a fantastic restaurant that maintains an incredible standard of food, atmosphere, and service. A true Sydney icon.
The perfect place to experience classic Antipodean dining in a terrific location with views to match. An institution for good reason. Nice to have individual plates of food too after so many years of sharing plates.
It was a treat yourself type of morning. Ordered the eggs benedict ($18). Im such a sucker for it i had to get some! The atmosphere at chalkys is a super cute cafe! I would definitely come again to try their coffee and other pastries!
Best Tandoori Salmon!!!!
A great lunch was had at Cafe Sydney. The food, the service and the view were all spectacular. A great was to celebrate a special birthday.
Had a wonderful experience at Cafe Sydney. Our Server Ben was absolutely excellent in his presentation of the menu and arranging our courses. Highly recommend! Food
Great view, book months ahead for New Years Eve as tables go very quickly.
Amazing experience, fantastic food and atmosphere and great service
great service and great food
A place with a breathtaking view of Sydney Harbour, excellent service and EXQUISITE food!!!!! Really no flaws! DIVINEOOOO
Best place , best service, best view I can t recommend them enough thanks for wonderful birthday dinner
Every dish was excellent including the bread and butter. We were lucky enough to get a seat on the balcony so had a great view of Sydney Harbour Bridge. Service was efficient and always on hand when needed
Amazing venue - awesome venue, fabulous food, and terrific service.
Best view of Sydney Harbour Bridge in the evening! It s located on the fifth floor of Customs House. Also, the restaurant s just a stone s throw away from Sydney Opera House, so it s a good place to grab a bite before watching a performance. What also impressed us was how meticulous the wait staff was. They checked if we were celebrating any special occasion and our allergies. Even going one step further to verify with the kitchen about certain ingredients. I would recommend the fish dishes (barramundi and salon) which were fresh and cooked perfectly. Also, there s a variety of mocktails and cocktails. The only thing we didn t quite enjoy was the yuzu dessert, which was lacking in citrus flavours. We spent a total of AUD$159
Amazing place to be.
Everything was lovely, our meal tastes amazing. I just wished portions could have a bit more, considering the price we are paying but other than that amazing.
Great food, drinks, view and fantastic staff
First class service from Ben during my lunch visit who was extremely attentive and personable. A bottle of water was left in a wine chiller with some ice which was unexpected but very welcome. This wasnt my first visit to Cafe Sydney however I believe the quality of food and service has measurably increased. Thanks once again for an excellent dining experience!
Delicious food and great views, and renowned for a reason. Definitely a must for your Sydney city trip. Lost a point for the hard sell by the waiter, too assertive for my liking, especially for an upper market venue.
Wonderful view, amazing place, delicious food and dessert.
Great and tasty food.. Great services and great view. I really enjoyed every minutes over there. Food : 5/5
You can t go wrong with Cafe Sydney! Great food, service and the best view!
Brilliant restaurant with great food and spectacular views
What a setting! The food was delicious and the service very attentive. Highly recommended for a special occasion.
*UPDATE ON THE CONTINUED WORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE EVER* (We have now been called by the CEO who is defending her waiter, and demanding we pay the bill after the manager on duty said the meal was fully comped over the disgusting comments and attitude of the waiter) Worst experience of my entire life, the waiter made multiple aggressive derogatory comments: 1. When trying to order fries for the main meal, my father was stumbling, I added to the conversation fries with the main course the waiter replies: YES I GOT THAT FROM HIM ALREADY . My father replied he s the boss as I am the CEO of our business, to which the waiter replies not here he isn t . Our response to each other was wow, never experienced that before, he just lost his tip. 2. We added some sourdough to the Burrata appetiser and the waiter bought it over without clearing our dirty plates, or clearing the finished appetiser plates that were on the table. I requested these be removed and he screamed at me I KNOW HOW TO DO MY JOB . This is the most disgusting experience I ve ever had in a restaurant in my entire life. Same with my father. All I can say is wow.
We had a lovely business dinner here
I went to a birthday party in the evening, and the atmosphere was really nice. Although it was a bit noisy, the view of Sydney Harbor was among the best Ive seen in Sydney. The food was good, though just decent. If I get the chance, I d like to visit again during the day.
Great place for corporate dinner
We have been coming here for 20 years but not what it used to be. Tables crowded, small portions, overpriced and lukewarm. It took 1 .5 hours before we got food. Service average. Very disappointing. More like a cafe .
Stunning views. Attentive service. Great food. My Pinot Noir was not good so switched for a Rose . But hard to complain at a beautiful place like this!
Excellent service as always and great lunch options for a sunny winter afternoon out in Sydney. Taking the location into consideration, this restaurant stands out and reasonably priced for what and where it is. Cant fault it.
Delicious food, attentive service, great vibe for lunch on a sunny winters day, and, of course, a spectacular view of Sydney harbour!
Amazing food and magnificent views
Service: 5, Location/view: 4 Food: 3, Value for money: 2 Parking: Better to take public transportation .
Lovely food and world class service!
On a previous visit to Sydney before Covid, we were introduced to Cafe Sydney as a place to see and be seen, for the view, and the nightlife. The food was good but not exceptional as was the service. We debated returning, but we are very glad we did. Not so this time. Food was excellent as were the mixed drinks. (My celiac/glutenfree was no issue.) Servers didn t let glasses run dry, offered blankets as the Sun set, and turned on heaters. The view was spectacular throughout. We will be back. Dietary restrictions: I m celiac/glutenfree. They only had to hear it once. No mistakes. Dishes were balanced as needed. Great GF bread.
What a lovely dinner I had last night with my friend at this place. Hospitality in its true sense. They were even calling us by our names all the time. It really makes a difference when you see people s efforts and how knowledgeable they are as well. Thanks to their suggestion we had best Chardonnay I ve tried in my life and the food choices we had even as pescatarians were divine. Will be back one day again for sure Vegetarian options: Burrata salad with fennel
Amazing food, outstanding service Furkan!!! , great views and the vibe was also great. Definitely recommend
Exceptional dishes, top service thanks to Furkan. Will go back
Food took a very long time, not happy considering the price paid However the staff are really nice!
If you can get a table on the terrace overlooking the harbour over lunch, you will have a great experience. Great food and vibes!
As soon as they found out it was our anniversary, they really went out of their way to look after us. Service was awesome and not surprisingly the food was magic.
Fantastic!
The view is super impressive. Good Service, add some more warmth will be better. Food was great
Amazing venue with spectacular views, beautiful food and stella service
Great food & service but too noisy inside. Had trouble talking to the person next to you!
Always terrific...iconic Sydney
Dined here last night - 2 adults 2 children. My son ordered the Mac n cheese for entree and penne pasta for mains and churros for dessert. Both pastas had absolutely no seasoning and texture of Mac n cheese very odd. Churros was the worst Ive ever tasted. My son and I ordered the pork belly - very average with very little flavour. 4th meal was the barramundi - well he ordered the snapper but got the barramundi instead, was very dry and again no seasoning. Dessert was average. There was nothing nice about our meals. Service was amazing, and very friendly. I needed my flash light to see my menu, its so dark I could barely read the menu. Huge disappointment given it was my birthday - paid almost $500 for meals that my kids said I could have cooked better at home and yes I could have stayed home and cooked but always nice to treat myself on ones birthday. Defintely do not reccomend this place sadly enough as staff were fantastic.
Got nice view but understaffed, no one refills the water.
This is an absolutely amazing place to have dinner. Amazing views, great food, and a divine wine list Sydney s best !
Dined in and service was really good
Ok
Shocking experience . It is not what it once was. Caters for hoodie, shorts and runners crowd. At 1K for 4 people it was an absolutely insult. Kicked off our table after 90 minutes . Good was so bad and cocktails tasted or pre made syrup . Such a shame to see it get so bad. It is relying on its view nowadays but you can t cover up bad that makes ch.
My partner and I wanted to have a few drinks and a bite to eat at 3.20pm on Monday afternoon but were turned away. Restaurant and bar were pretty empty and the excuse of no space we found ridiculous. Never going to go back. We went instead to Searock Grill
Amazing place, spectacular views, fantastic food and Ronnys service was some of the best service I have ever experienced. So personable, totally on point. One of the best!
My favourite restaurant in Australia! I make sure to dine at Cafe Sydney everytime I am in town as it always lives up to expectations. The kitchen truly understands food and cooks in a way to bring out every taste without interference. On my last visit, I had a beautiful beef tartare which had picked onions through it which was a delight. The restaurant has the best scenery in Sydney, with few views of the bridge and opera house.
Always amazing experience, views are always amazing. Usually good vibes as the diners are usually tourists or businesses people entertaining guests or people celebrating a special occasion. The food is good but I feel like I am at a wedding when I eat here. I dont know if they were short of waiters, but it was a little difficult to get service as the waiters looked very busy, but you can calm yourself by looking at the views, its fantastic.

The ambiance, coupled with the restaurants impeccable service, creates a memorable dining experience. Service at Cafe Sydney is top-notch, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who ensure that every guest feels welcomed and well taken care of. Their recommendations for food and wine pairings enhance the overall dining experience, making it truly special. Overall, Cafe Sydney offers a perfect blend of stunning views, exquisite food, and excellent service. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy an unforgettable dining experience in the heart of Sydney.
Seating was great, we sat outside and got to enjoy the view. The service was a 10/10 and the food was great too.
Excellent food ,service and with stunning views
We arrived as a group of nine for lunch, including one child. The venue is lovely; you take an elevator up and are welcomed by a large reception desk, a lounge, and steps leading to a spectacular view. Several diners in our group had visited this place over the years on trips to Sydney, but let s face it it s a tourist trap, not for good food. The $1500+ bill was not worth it, and I felt tricked into an overpriced menu while others had the à la carte option. Maybe it was good once? If youre given the fixed menu, Id suggest walking out it was bad in every sense. Value = Terrible Quality = Worse We were told wed be seated inside during booking, which was fine, but the harbour view is spectacular. I d highly encourage seeking an outside table for an unobstructed view. Upon being led to our table, we were almost seated when some odd commotion occurred. The maître d was told to take us back to the lounge to wait for our table, which was weird because they all had headsets. So, we walked back down the steps, up the steps, and sat at the bar for about 45 seconds until we were re-gathered to walk back down and up the steps again to our seat. It was confusing, as we had a menu with no prices, with meals that didn t match anything anyone else was eating (I would have loved some Oysters). We sat for a long time, surrounded by staff and managers, though it wasn t clear what any of them were doing. I stopped a staff member and asked if we could order drinks and enquired about the menu. He said he d organise drinks and started to attend to our table, but called a manager to explain the menu situation. Apparently, we didn t have an à la carte option and were informed the previously undisclosed price for our meal (as the menu had no prices) would be $140 per person. This wasn t ideal as we were very keen to eat, but rarely would I have three courses for lunch. The fixed menu included a limited selection of bread (naan), a starter, a main, and a dessert (we were told to choose one of each) but we could upgrade to additional items for an extra fee. The manager then informed us we should have been told earlier during booking, but if we wanted, we could opt for the à la carte option however, we d still be subject to a minimum $140 charge. The bread covered in oil came and sat on the table while we waited for water and drinks. After a few minutes, we started eating the bread, and I asked another manager if we were supposed to have side plates to avoid oil dripping all over the table it wasn t great. We had octopus starters, which was so salty it made my stomach turn. I ate about half of it. It was salt-flavored, not fresh. Drinks were slow or non-existent, considering the number of staff buzzing around. You could get them, but it was more like a bistro where you d wave to someone. My water spent more time empty than full. Mains came and the fish was okay but pretty much on the same sauce base as the octopus. The weirdest part was the $140 child s meal, which was so sweet that the kid couldn t eat it. We thought the child was joking, so a few of us tried it; it was like candied tomato penne. Disgusting not suitable for anyone. What kid doesn t like sweeter things? The cheesecake and cheese platter were more suitable to be shared. Several people ended up with full cheese platters when we d probably only wanted one or two for the table. It seemed wasteful and haphazard. If you re going to serve grapes on a cheese plate, they should be fresh and pruned. By this point, I had to leave the table, as the excessive salt and poor service were driving me crazy; I left and waited for the group to finish and meet me downstairs. Overall, it was a completely unremarkable experience that I couldn t fully endure. For such a reputable place, I was extremely disappointed. It was amateur hour on a Monday perhaps they had their apprentices running the kitchen. The value was zero, and I could never recommend a repeat visit.
Well priced and best view in town
A very nice lunch venue. The view and restaurant vibe are quintessentially Sydney at its best. I would not recommend as a dinner venue it was very cold outside and the heating provided was not sufficient and all members of our large table booking shivered through the meal. The lighting was so low that you couldn t see what you were eating and the food was cold.
Are you serious? It s like a mad house in here. We had a booking of 10 ppl, can you handle it? I can t figure out who served our table, between the guys in white, the guys in black and the one I can only assume are the managers. No one is communication, why do you have the radios if you don t even know how to work and talk to each other. I literally notice them crushing into each other as they were walking on the floor. I got served items from 5 different people and no one knows who ordered what. You get served things you never got offered and don t tell me that s trying to upsell, that s bad service. One of the manager is dressed sloppy and not professional and he is just walking around without even making eye contact with any customers. You have the view and the dark lights, now try to have a Decent service. The bill was wrong, w 3 different things add to it. Thank you so much
One of Sydneys finest cafe! Service is OK. But the food is definitely amazing
What an awesome experience I had in Cafe Sydney.Just a minute walk from Circular Quay station. Beautiful ambience, delicious foods and their services were on top notch. Enjoyed my birthday brunch with the harbour view . I will definitely visit this place again.
Good quality-price with the most iconic view of Sydney.
Recent wedding anniversary lunch. They moved us from inside to the balcony and it was well worth it. Food location service were all outstanding. Will be returning when next back in Sydney
Our service attendant, is a consummate professional with a charismatic personality. The food is beautifully presented, and I enjoyed every dish, especially the sauces. If it were acceptable, I would have wiped my plate clean to savor every last bit.
Had an awesome experience. The food was absolutely amazing. There was great service and it had a wonderful atmosphere.
I really like this shop. Dont miss it if you go to Sydney.
What a great experience! Let s order a second plate of beef dishes! The swordfish is seared on both sides, with a sashimi in the middle, drizzled with special sauce, and served with very delicious French fries. It s really impressive! If we visit the Opera House next time, we will go there again! The service staff were very kind and gave us good suggestions on ordering food and wine! They also helped us arrange a location where we could see the Sydney Bridge! On the outside, hats are provided to customers when the sun is strong, and there are heaters above the windows on the inside!
Had New Zealand snapper, very good. Service was top tier and every waiter was very personable and present in their job.
Very disappointing experience! We booked a table a week in advance and when we arrived, they just told us that they have sent us a text message. They were very unhelpful and cancel our booking. I will never try again and don t recommend. Food
Very rude staff. when we asked to talked to the manager, she was even more impolite and unhelpful. The quality of the service was even zero star!!!
Awful Service. I never recommend anyone. Its a waste of money.
If I could get 0 star, I would do it. Very bad service, awful food.
The food is delicious, but this restaurant has a great atmosphere.
The food was so delicious and I really loved it thank you so much Binaya and prajwal for treating me well.
Fabulous views and good service, book in advance for a good position as both.inside and outside seating...
Always a pleasure dining here. Food is fantastic as well as the incredible view. Can be dependant on where you are seated, at the back you get the draught from the glass roof and hollow inner of the building, it can be quite cold there, plus youll hear the chef constantly shouting. Toward the balcony is much better. Front reception people could be more smiley. Wait staff are always a pleasure. The last dessert I had there was absolutely fantastic, the Mango Passionfruit Delice. Parking: Park in Reiby St or Stamford Hotel Wilson.
Great location, sitting on the patio is a must! Wouldnt say its worthwhile sitting anywhere else as the food is good, but doesnt match up to the stunning location looking over Circular Quay and the Harbour Bridge. We were there during Vivid and it was a great view point to sit and watch the Harbour and surroundings light up. Service was F- grade, constantly changing waiters, slow to take orders, top up drinks, and staff werent knowledgeable on the menu or wine list. Pretty disappointing really as it could have been a very memorable dining experience if the service was up to par.
Great location, however there was nothing spectacular about the food. Went to celebrate a birthday and was happy they wrote happy birthday on the dessert plate! :) Food : 4/5
Great location with Sydney view, staff very professional and friendly and the food is outstanding! Love the deserts, as in for lunch I strongly recommend the swordfish grilled which is perfectly cooked (like medium) , the most delicious fish I have ever had BUT when I visited on the following day week since my first visit they have changed the swordfish grilled and added some very bad and extremely spicy sauce, such a shame, I was very disappointed and never returned here since then. I have attached pictures, the one that has the orange colour sauce was the great one I had was called in the menu Grilled swordfish, braised pepperonata squid , red capsicum sauce and the one that has ravioli is the one bery spicy with separate sauce. The waitress was nice to warn me in advance to take the sauce separately
Absolutely delicious food, fantastic service and views. Goats cheese souffle is what dreams are made of
Last nights dinner at cafe sydney for vivid light theme experience was visually spectacular however after having been dining there for 15yrs the only disappointing part was the quality of our food. The swordfish was dry w cold prawn ravioli accompaniment. The duck chat potatoes were also over cooked & needed a sauce of some kind to make them eatable.
Great place for dinner overlooking the Harbour Bridge. Great service and lovely.
Stunning view
The ambience was really nice and service was good. Only let down was the long wait time and small portions for food. Some items on the menu were sold out which was disappointing. The food was average-good, nothing was a standout. We were moved to another area at around 4:30 for them to prepare for the dinner service, however it was odd because they let other people stay in the dining or move outdoors. I would recommend coming here for a drink, they re made really well and during sunset!
The restaurant offers a stunning view of the vivid sydney, and as always, the food and service were excellent!
A special birthday lunch for longtime friends Food and service were exceptional A great day Food : 5/5
It is undeniable that Cafe Sydney is like an institution in Sydney, however, for a place of such a calibre I was expecting a 5-star service. The location is beautiful (although the weather was awful, as it was pouring rain) and the view of the Harbour Bridge is priceless. However, the pressure the staff puts on you while eating because they want you to leave as soon as possible is absolutely shocking. We had a reservation for 7 people for a 30th birthday and when we ordered the dessert we were told that we needed to leave in 10 minutes because they had a reservation for the same table. Look, I understand, but if you come and ask for the dessert 10 minutes before the next reservation, you cannot expect us to finish off a dessert in less than 10 minutes, especially for a birthday dinner. Anyway, 4 people in 10 minutes came to tell us that we had to leave while we were still eating. Also, the staff were not friendly at all throughout the entire dinner and the food is actually average. It was an experience because I ve always wanted to visit Cafe Sydney but definitely not what I was expecting. Very disappointing and not pleasant at all, especially when you spend more than $600. Thanks Cafe Sydney but I m happy to go and give my money to someone who actually deserves it and knows how to work in hospitality.
Had a great Birthday lunch with my wife here 6th June. We sat outside despite the inclement weather (cold and rainy) kept dry by the awning and warm under heaters. Sydney harbour location always offers a great view despite the weather. Great oysters, felt the beef tartare special needed an egg and there was no sign of the Parisienne gnocchi with the Snapper (mentioned to the waitress who advised it was very small rather than invisible), however the dry aged duck breast was superb as were both desserts. Reliably outstanding food and service.
Great food and great service. Just slightly on the pricey side. Entrees around $30. Mains $40-$60. Killer view though
Always great experience best food best service best views had my daughters engagement last night best service by Furkan he was amazing so caring and professional service thank cafe Sydney for everything
Off-menu, Bloody Mary.
The food experience was out of this world..the steak was absolutely delicious
Very popular restaurant in the harbour of Sydney offering stunning views over the harbour.
Very nice place for Friday night gathering! Clear view of iconic Sydney, tasty dishes and detailed service. What a night in Sydney!
Cafe Sydneys location overlooking the Harbour Bridge is unbeatable, especially from the patio area. They offer a good drink selection, and service is solid. However, the food is just average. If you prioritize ambiance and drinks over food quality, this spot might still be worth a visit.
Absolutely freezing- it is 12 degrees outside and the doors are wide open with a chill breeze. So even if inside , which we were, the view which is stunning cannot compete with the temperature. Apparently the doors can t be closed because the waitstaff are unable to open and shut as they serve outside tables. Otherwise food good, not great and service good not great.
I went to Cafe Sydney to celebrate my Birthday with some friends and we had the best experience we could expect. Amazing food and drinks, gorgeous view and the service is absolutely fantastic. The whole team took a good care of us, very friendly and attentive. Food
By far the best restaurant in Sydney, the views, service and food are second to none!
Absolutely amazing service, view and food. If you have a special occasion, this is the place to go. Magnificent.
Gorgeous place Id highly recommend
Amazing experience, We booked a table for 7 for the night of our wedding. Staff were really accommodating. Food was top shelf and atmosphere was perfect. We couldn t have asked for a better evening with our close family. Highly recommend this and we will be back. Lastly they made our wedding cake in house and by far the best cake we ve had in a while. Vegetarian options: The whole menu was perfect for all requirements. Wheelchair accessibility: Our 86 grandmother was in attendance and they were super accommodating as she s very slow on her feet.
We celebrated our engagement at Cafe Sydney this week and we had the best time. The food was absolutely sensational; every single dish was cooked and flavoured perfectly. What made the experience even better was how great the service was, especially from Maddie - she was so fun and we loved chatting to her.
A magical experience from the moment you walk in. The service and food is second to none in Sydney and that is before you take in the stunning views.
We dined here for a late lunch and it lived up to the expectations. Beautiful atmosphere, excellent food, and top notch service. The oysters are amazing. Make reservations well in advance.
Definitely fine dining.
Nice atmosphere with great view of Circular Quay and Opera House.
Phenomenal as always. Food was incredible. The service impeccable. Can t beat the views. It s a favourite we ll keep going back to. Thank you again.
For the price and the reputation it holds, whilst still very deserving - the restaurant fell a little short. For the views and the atmosphere, this is a must visit for those that are visiting or entertaining important guests.
Lovely food. Steak was quite nice !!
Excellent and luxurious roof top restaurant with stunning views over harbour bridge and opera house. Food and service is fantastic, and the prices are sky high. Must make reservation to get a space. On weekends and similar, months ahead.
Fantastic food excellent setting friendly knowledgeable staff. Reasonably priced for Sydney
