Gomi. Goshiki. Goho. Gotei. Gokan. Five introduces a Modern European cuisine guided by Japanese finesse, expressed through the five core elements — taste, colour, cooking, moderation and the senses. This guiding philosophy shapes the seasonal tasting menu with an experimental and progressive approach. Relax and soak up the experience in a wabi-sabi inspired setting, where the ambience enhances the discovery of each carefully interpreted element on the plate.
A great experience out. The food was excellent and the service and atmosphere was second to none. I have been to more than a few fine dining restaurants in Sydney but Five Dining stands out to me in terms of the service and food. I always like to watch the kitchen work whenever it’s open kitchen. I think the chefs here are some of the most cool, calm, and collected I’ve seen. A lot of the times they were working without a word uttered but everyone knew their part, like when the head chef would be grating some cheese and someone would come at the right moment with a container to catch the cheese block. A well oiled machine. The service was really good as well. The timing between each course was well timed. Overall there is nothing better they could have done that I could have asked for. This is one of the few fine dining places I would not hesitate to come back to and definitely will because I enjoyed it that much.
Avoid leaving tips; they don’t reach the waitstaff
Beautiful food. Impeccable, friendly service. Great atmosphere. Fascinating show as Alessandro was making amazing cocktails. It is a great dining experience.
Amazing food- very tasty and so delicately made with care. Lovely ambience and decor. Friendly attentive staff. Ordered the $149 three course meal. Was worth it. Only gripe is no one answers calls or emails. I had to make an amendment to the booking. Had to contact via messenger and even then it took a couple of days. What happens if you are running late???
Probably the top dining experience to date. From the atmosphere to the hospitality and the food - the level of care and detail out of this world. Hats off to the chef for one of the most well run kitchens I have seen in a long time and the thought of behind each dish. Each course following on from the next in perfect harmony and building as the night went on. Everything in perfect balance and perfect harmony. The hospitality eye was no short of this attention to detail. I had made an error in judgement on a cocktail (totally on my poor judgement) and I never said anything but they knew after I hadn’t taken a sip in a while that I was not too happy with it and in a matter of seconds they had brought me something else that better fit the style of cocktail I like. Of all the fine dining places I have visited, I have never experienced service like that. I could not recommend a visit more, we will 100% be back!
You can see and taste every dish is good. Good place to dine with partner I think
Amazing dining experience. It's Japanese cuisine with a European influence. The restaurant is located in the Old Foley Brothers building which was an old warehouse, and has been converted into a very well designed complex of Japanese inspired venues, including Five restaurant which my review focuses on , an amazing Whisky Bar, (Had a quick pre-dinner drink here), a very fine Patisserie, a Robato Grill restaurant, and a traditional Kaiseki restaurant. The cocktails were amazing and very creative, all food was creative, delicious, beautifully presented and all flavours well balanced in all dishes. The chefs and wait staff also gave a brief but detailed description of each dish as it arrived. Service was excellent, some of the best I have experienced in recent years. It was also exciting to be able to see the chefs in action in a semi open kitchen. This establishment has only recently opened but I would expect it's going to be very popular. The lift up has the Tokyo Subway map on the wall and features subway sounds as it glides smoothly between levels. Oh and the artwork in the toilet was amazingly clever, quirky and creative. Have fun finding Uma Thurman in her Kill Bill outfit and Homer as Mr Sparkle among a crowd of many others! Hopefully I will be able to come back to Sydney for more soon 😋! Thanks Team 5 and Prefecture 48 for a great experience
