Such good food, would highly recommend.

Tuna and grapefruit dish was great. Everything else was fine. Nice flavours but just a bit dulll or imbalanced. Staff were nice but water on the table would be preferred.

it was my bday earlier this week and i d say it s the best bday dinner ive ever had! our server, Ash, was really nice and did an outstanding job taking care of us. food was really delicious (esp the calamari!!!) and good wine accompanying our meal. food pace was perfect too HUGE props to the team for accommodating us with a perfect table by the window would absolutely come back here. Thank you so much!

Rude front desk staff. Can t comment on the food as we didn t get inside, despite having a booking for a Xmas get together. Guess we weren t young and trendy enough. Don t waste your money. Plenty of other up market restaurants in Sydney who value their customers.

What an incredible spot that s been carefully cultivated with every detail being considered-from the thoughtful design of the environment, the host, the service and the standout of the entire spot -the kitchen and incredible chefs. We were fortunate to sit at a little two top right in front of the open kitchen. We could watch the team glide through service, organising the veggies and mains as they cooked over the open coals. The Sous chef had a chat with us as he was working, and enticed us to order the bread, which was sitting on top getting a hint of smoke while the pork was crackling away on the flames. Every dish was spot on, no critiques what so ever. The balance was solid, the flow of dishes was impeccable with the expo and food runners commanding the food out of the kitchen. Favourite memory of the night was watching the legend make our roasted radicchio which was caramelised to perfection. The smile on his face when he nailed the dish - and got that balance just right, we knew we were in for another knock out dish. We can t wait to go back and try the rest of the dishes, but the coral trout, jatz, tartare, carpaccio, were all delish. Thanks for a top night- we will be back- well done BOH! Solid work!

It was such a wonderful experience dining at Kiln. The ambiance was perfect, with a lovely view, especially if you go around sunset. The service was excellent, specially Lee who went above and beyond in recommending and organizing our dinner. What I loved most about the food was the availability of vegetarian and pescatarian options. The kefir dish was out of this world! Truly amazing, and I will definitely come back!

Amazing service, amazing location. But the food was average at best. Over priced and you will get a better feed paying $20 at the local RSL for a steak and salad. I don t know who they have in the kitchen but they have no idea what fine dining is. Coral Trout was dry. Tuna Tartare has so much garlic in it, it made me choke and that jatz and anchovie starter also was so average that is confused me. I actually never leave reviews but I just had to say something about that food Do not go here if you want a good dinner

We went here for my birthday. The service and atmosphere were great, but the food was not. We ordered a starter with anchovies which was literally a single anchovy on a supermarket cracker and some whipped butter. It didn t get much better with the special of the day, a tasteless tuna belly with a single padron pepper for $36 as a starter size. Again, the most expensive padron pepper we d ever had. Apparently it had truffle, but it was lost. We spent $250, only my wife had wine and a cocktail. We left and felt like going for a pizza rather than a culinary experience.

Great atmosphere and good food albeit a little pricey compared to similar restos. Was surprisingly hard to get service at times for a weekday night.

Firstly the venue and vibe is special. Few places give a vantage like this one. Food was good but not very memorable. I m a fan of Mitch Orrs cooking in prior ventures but Kiln didn t hit the same high notes. The mackerel and rice cracker was clumsy to eat, and the steak lacked a flavourful crust. We went ala carte over the veggie heavy set menus which we preferred. Service got off to a rocky start with no one manning the front desk. Waited around for signs of life. When someone did come, no apology. Once seated, our waitress was a gem and looked after us through the night with a smile.

Wow this was so good. Delicious food, great and thoughtful service, really nice interior with great views (over ugly buildings ahem). Highly recommend this place.

This was our second visit to Kiln, this time as a group of 6. The good, the food was great again. We did the set menu and had a veg with us who enjoyed the substitutions. Wine list and drinks were great too. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Whilst the food and service was good, there were a couple of bugbears. There was a DJ in the restaurant, the music was so loud you could only talk to the person next to you. While music is great in the bar, in a restaurant it should add to the atmosphere not dominate it. So what could have been a great night, was only good.

Starting with the beautiful and moody dining room, to the open kitchen with heat and fire warming everything. The service is subtle and friendly with a focus on the details. Great wine list with excellent by the glass options. The food was amazing - with a mix of asian and australian inspired flavours. We enjoyed the view and the food. Vegetarian options: Lots of warm and cold vegetarian options. Even dishes with meats can be made vegetarian with the meat portions coming on the side.

If you re happy to pay $90 (ex drinks) for a brick of bread and tiny plates of lacklustre food, go here Very average and won t be returning.

Very interesting cuisine. The food itself is a great experience with well thought out flavour choices. The staff are attentive throughout. Definitely a hidden gem. Vegetarian options: Menu seems somewhat vegetarian favoured. Dietary restrictions: Variety of options and accessibility. Parking: Difficult to find parking. Public transport if possible. Found a walks a way from central. Kid-friendliness: Whilst there is no strict kids menu, I did not ask for one. I would call. Wheelchair accessibility: Elevator.

Kiln is exceptional and a very special dining experience. The food, service and ambience is outstanding. We ordered a variety of dishes and we all loved every single bite. We d recommend the entire menu! Incredible food along with a beautiful wine and cocktail list. Frank and his team are amazing, professional, warm, welcoming and made the night even more special. We had the best night at Kiln celebrating with friends and family. Awesome atmosphere for a few drinks/party. Absolutely delicious food (especially the dry aged rib eye) and fine. Also the most attentive and friendly staff.

Everything from the food to the service was divine! We particularly enjoyed the scallops, tuna ceviche and King George Whiting. The bar and wait staff were friendly and attentive - we enjoyed an anniversary surprise dessert too! Definitely one to visit!

Food was immaculate. Hard to fault. The NYC vibes were also very cool. Its a very warm and inviting venue where others can be quite cold and bare. My only real issue is I made quite a simple request on our booking in advance and the venue seemed to disregard it or just not particularly care. Perhaps an oversight? Perhaps a management issue.

Place is so overrated. Way too dark inside to read the menu. Half the lights on tables are cracked. Service is trash, wayyy too slow. Food is like they ve opened the fridge and whatever leftovers they ve got they ve thrown on a plate. Flavour profiles didn t match at all. $28 for a few burnt carrots. Will never recommend this place.

Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. New York Sydney. Decided to venture to Kiln for dinner service as their menu looked intriguing and the interior really gave off that New York loft vibe from photos. Everything was great - the food and the cocktails. Highlights personally - the anchovy jatz, a tuna on rice special on the night, the lions mane and the mousse. As for the cocktails - the smoked samurai was a personal favourite but I also dont think you can visit without trying the mushroom old fashioned. Its honestly hard to imagine this venue sits a top a hotel the atmosphere takes you entirely elsewhere. Fantastic spot for dinner and a sunset when the season permits it.

I had a really lovely birthday dinner with close friends here. Views and atmosphere are intimate, edgy with sweeping views of the city. It takes a lot to surprise me, but Kiln succeeded in spades. This was truly fine dining, but in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The food was superb and the wine list excellent, with a good range. The service was first class, being attentive but without being pushy. Id recommend everyone to give Kiln a try, I know Ill be going back.

I celebrated my b-day, and we ordered $90 pp. food and service were great! I d like to try other foods. We brought cake, and they gave us plates. It was $10 pp

Great special occasion restaurant. We were staying in the Ace Hotel downstairs so it made perfect sense to dine here. The food was fantastic. I wish that there were some other main / larger size dishes to chose from that offered more variety however. There was only 4 and 3 of which were seafood. The one meat main was $160. All of the small dishes were tasty the one that lacked a little seasoning was the eggplant. The atmosphere is great and the service was also good.

Absolutely APPALLING! Made a birthday dinner reservation 3 months in advance for a surprise to be advised via email, not even a phone call, our reservation had been cancelled to accomodate a private function. To compensate, they offered us another date and a complementary drink. Are you kidding me???? The most despicable service I have ever experienced in Sydney. Youre an absolute Joke!

I booked Kiln three months in advance for my partners birthday. 11 days before our dinner, Kiln informed us they had taken a private booking for the entire restaurant so they were cancelling our booking. They generously suggested we book another night and they would throw in a free drink each. The disdain Kiln has for their customers is quite staggering. I wont be making another reservation at Kiln given their ambivalence to honouring their commitments. May I suggest future patrons have a back up plan when making a reservation at Kiln.

Incredible night out at Kiln. We had a lovely experience overall, with standouts being the jatz starter, scallops, and perssimon salad. I will NEVER forget that banana ice cream. What an appreciation for the craft and beauty of flavor! Lots of unique and memorable moments from these dishes, and you get plenty of food per meal so you feel very taken care of by the end of the evening. The embiance inside is very cool, a view of the city, lovely decor, and the staff are all incredibly kind, personable, and attentive. Give it a go!

The space is lovely and was so looking forward to a fabulous dinner and experience but not worth the price. Service was hit and miss at times but mostly ok. The host look liked she should be working at a casual pub not a fine dining restaurant, needs elevating to suit the clientele and the price tag ! The biggest disappointment was the Rib Eye at $160 its was a 3rd Fat grisly fat unedable. Spoke to the manager about it, he never came back to explain what would happen. They gave us a free dessert in the end and a birthday cake? That seemed very strange not our birthdays and was just an big ick. Public holiday surcharge and a tip added to the bill. There are so many amazing restaurants in Sydney this one is not it for high prices there are better options !

This place was actually recommened me by a good friend who regularly dines at this place, For my first time experiencing this place and i took one of my mates there for a surprise Birthday dinner, overall experience was fantastic! From upon entry to the finish. The best sellars was the Calabrian chilli tuna, Trout Crudo and the 600g Rib Eye Steak wow... Absolutely amazing. I wish i have gotten the name off the waitress that looked after us she was amazing explaining the menu and how attentive the service was! Will be coming back again awesome place! i was there on Thursday 4th April :D

A very intimate and elegant rooftop restaurant with an interesting menu. We opted for the feed me set menu and it was extremely generous. My favs were the roasted eggplant, pistachio and fuyu stracciatella, and salmoriglio calamari. We received a complementary birthday dessert in addition to the set menu options. Highly recommended and will be back!

Kiln has cool urban vibes with beautifully designed interiors and rooftop city views. My wife and I were warmly welcomed and seated at the bar where our very friendly barlady made us great classic martinis the way we like. At our table the setting was comfortable and by the window looking over the CBD skyline and we were met with more warm and welcoming service. Our food was excellent with the standout dish for us being the yellow flounder main. Overall a memorable experience and definitely recommended.

Delightful dinner with a nice ambience. Staff were very nice. Its not easy to find as it is nestled high up in a building in a lane but the person in charge of welcoming customers spots you well to guide you! :) The cocktails are really nice. Nothing overly fancy but delicate and well balanced flavours for the food. Excellent experience.

Awesome service - really friendly guys working here - food was altogether great - the onion tartlet didn t do it for me. Our server didn t know the wines on offer. Steak was fabulous with the aubergine as a side. Fab evening.

Good setting and atmosphere but if youre looking for good quality and tasty food this is not the place to come. We were a group of 3 and ordered the set menu at $130 per person. The food was ok but certainly nothing special and deserving of the price, especially given that there were three fish dishes - 3 scallops, a (bad) tuna tutare and 1 squid to share - and the rest were vegetarian (no meat at all). The eggplant main dish we actually left most of as it was not enjoyable (literally tasted like eggplant in peanut butter), and one of the dishes was just plain rice (which wasnt even well cooked). The final straw was the desserts which were two plates between three, both of which were basically a scoop of ice cream. A scoop of ice cream should not be included on a sharing tasting menu. Service was fine but no explanation of the plates which would be expected when offering a tasting menu. Overall style over substance and we left very disappointed.

I was pleasantly surprised by the innovative and delicious dishes at (Kiln) restaurant that combines Australian, European, and Asian flavours in a creative and harmonious way. The service was friendly and efficient, and the decor was modern and inviting and the view of Sydneys famous landmarks were breathtaking. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves trying new and exciting dishes. The prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of food, and the service is excellent. I cant wait to go back and try more of their menu.

Great friends who had been here many times before booked this. We arrived via the back lane. I recommend this entry rather than front of hotel. There were 6 of us for dinner but arrived early enough for a drink downstairs. Restaurant is on level 18. Lift up is one of the slowest I ve been in. The views and feel are New York like. Even from men s rest room. Our sitting was 8:15 and don t think we left until 11. No pressure to leave. The atmosphere and service were great. We ordered and shared entrees, mains and deserts. We ordered - shady s bread, koji butter - oyster, finger lime, kombu - grilled snowflake mushroom, wasabi leaf - wagyu tartare, smoked mayo, handpicked capers - tuna tartare, salted daikon, yuzu kosho creme fraiche. - lettuce, peas, whipped bone marrow. - grilled beans, broad beans, ajo blanco. - Randall farm koshihikari rice. - John Dory, Woodfired peperonata, pil pil. - dry aged rib eye, sudachi ponzu x 2 (1 done medium and 1 med rare). (Sorry - didn t take photos. I didn t want to be the annoying person at the table) The bread was soft, tasty and crust crusty. The accompanying butter so good. Wanted more though. Oysters - very fresh with amazing dressing. Mushroom dish was amazing. Texture of a delicate meat. Wagyu beef was a stand out. Wanted more. The rib eye is as good as it gets. Even though I d generally prefer medium rare the medium had better flavour and amazing texture. Desserts - as we had plenty of mains we borked at dessert but ordered to share anyway. It was so good we ordered more after first round. We ordered everything on dessert menu but the poached pear, sourdough ice cream was a standout. It was ordered again. We will definitely return. Lunch will be the next round.

We had the best meal weve eaten in quite some time here! The calamari with salmoriglio was perfection - tender and the oregano in the salmoriglio was incredibly flavoursome and aromatic. The beans, eggplant and zuchini were also absolutely beautifully done. If youre vegan or vegetarian and looking for amazingly flavoursome veggo dishes with that something extra that makes them pop, come to Kiln. The cocktails were also amazing. Thoroughly recommend!

A long time ago, I read that you could judge a restaurant based on how well they prepared a Sazerac (cocktail). Over the years, this general held up. The correlation might come down to the fact that a good Sazerac is a balancing act. When right, the flavors come together to make something powerful yet approachable, unmistakable yet nuanced. Unfortunately, Kiln failed. The drink was watered down and flavorless, missing the primary notes that make the drink a classic. And the correlation continued, the food just missed anything to make it special.

Special birthday evening with my fiancé, the staff were attentive, warm and friendly and the food and the setting was fantastic. Excellent!

Came for a work dinner so not having to pay for it made it easier to sit back and just enjoy! Interesting dishes, tasty and great vibes. Hung out till they shut but that was mostly due to the company. Would return to try the menu with more attention to the food.

Had a friends birthday dinner here. Great food, ambience and service. Was better than expected given some of the reviews. Snowflake mushroom wasabi leaf, wagyu tartare and roasted eggplant were delicious.

My partner and I had lunch to celebrated our anniversary at Kiln, and we loved every minute of it. The team really went out of their way to help us celebrate. Most notable was the service. William, who served us, was an absolute delight. He was just the right amount of attentive without hovering, and every course we ordered came out lightening quick! The food was sensational and it was extra fun to watch the chefs in the open kitchen. They even waived our dessert as an anniversary present. Super kind people doing what they do best it seems. I d recommend to anyone!

Food was really good , service was very poor , had to constantly try to get the attention of waiters to order food and drinks . Very poor service , won t be going back , which is a shame .

My husband booked here for my 50th birthday months in advance. Dined there 16th. Shocked to be placed at a table near the kitchen facing the fire door especially as not full. Only seat with a bad view. Disappointed that food was so rushed that the fourth dish had arrived before the cocktails. Had to ask to slow down. Great food not enough to redeem this $350 experience for 2. Sent feedback the next day but not response, although promised.

Hard to find the entrance ! They also had the wrong hours on google before. The food was ok, it was a bit hyped up so I had very high expectations. It was also a little too oily and salty for my taste but otherwise it was fresh and tasty. They renewed the menu when I went so some of the stuff I previously saw was no longer on the menu. Hope they bring it back soon.

Food and service were excellent, we went for the set menu and they were happy to adapt dietary requirements; they even brought a cake with a candle to celebrate my partners birthday. I have to admit I was a bit worried after reading some of the reviews here, but the service was friendly and fast, and food quality outstanding with portions more than enough, so I was positively surprised during the whole experience. Had an amazing experience last night at Kiln. Four of us walked in trying our luck without a reservation and got seated immediately even though the restaurant was very busy. My trout was under cooked stone cold in the middle and the head chef thought it would be a good idea to come to my table to tell me in person that it was seriously unprofessional. After mentioning that my fish was also under season he also said that was because of my taste buds. As a chef you dont know who youre serving youre food to and taking on board what someone is telling you is all thats needed to make the the experience more enjoyable. Unfortunately this restaurant just doesnt cut it unfortunately the food just isnt worth the price.

Disappointing evening last night for our 23rd wedding anniversary. The water glasses were filthy & the water bottle had black debre floating in it. We had to ask for the glasses & water to be replaced. The fried oysters tasted like they were cooked in cold oil and thats really all you could taste was oil. The famous anchovy jatz also a let down on the quality of anchovy. My wifes coral trout was extremely under done to the point we couldnt put a knife through it, so l tried with my finger & it was stone cold and not seasoned well on the flesh or skin of the fish. Surprised to see chef/owner Mitchell Orr leave the pass on a Saturday night full restaurant to come over to our table crouched down and staring at the table not even looking at my wife when talking to her. Mitch went on to say that she was wrong and he checked the fish and it was fine. He then was rude and said what do you want to do here? My wife wanted the coral trout cooked properly & she asked for the fish to be seasoned, Mitch replied with we season all our food, maybe its just not to your taste buds youve got salt & pepper there you can do it yourself We had to ask for salt & pepper as the food was bland. Trout came back with a stupid amount of salt on the skin none on the flesh of the fish. Joked with our section waitress about how Mitch cant take criticism well & she agreed. On a positive note the flounder was bangin well youd hope so for a 400gm fish at $68 No dessert eaten. Disappointed as weve eaten in Loam previously and our barramundi was also served to us raw but seared. Maybe need a lesson on how to cook fish? We will never come back to Ace Sydney as both experiences havent been pleasant. Vegetarian options: None except sides Kid-friendliness: No Wheelchair accessibility: Yes

One of the best dinners I ve had in Sydney - each dish respected the produce with balanced, simple flavours allowing it to sing. For me, it was comparable to Bennelong (minus the pomp and fanfare). Standouts: the scallops, mushrooms, market fish crudo, wagyu beef tartare. *chefs kiss* We had the panna cotta for dessert and it was beautiful. Service was attentive, our waitress Megan was informative. Venue and ambience is very cool, yet friendly. Perfect for special occasions as well as business dinners and catchups. 10/10.

Kiln is absolutely delicious, I can t wait to go again. This is a special occasion place for me, as their price point is obviously high but I believe the experience was worth it! Try the eggplant you won t regret it.

Went for drinks & a quick light bite - wow what a lovely breath of fresh air all round. I have to say the stand out was the staff attentiveness throughout our time there. Everyone was consistently genuine in checking in on us - well done. The space is large, fun & inviting - though my only disappointment was that we don t get to look out over Central Station. It is behind curtains, which I find a shame but still, the place has great views over Surry Hills $ the CBD. My non-alcoholic Lemon Myrtle Gimlet was perfect, & Wayne was asked how many cubes of ice he would like in his Bourbon (a 1st for him!) We ve had drinks in the ground floor hotel bar many times so were in autopilot when we asked for fries with our drinks. NO fries on the menu at Kiln, & understandably so, now that we ve tasted their menu - yum yum & more yum! Shady s bread is a known treat to us. The tartlet, beetroot, & goats curd was seriously tasty. And then, the grilled snowflake mushroom, on wasabi leaf totally blew me away. The taste was intense & smoky- so moreish I could have had a whole plate-full! I can t wait to go back to try the mains when I find some adventurous friends to go with - too fancy for my husband s simple tastebuds

Lovely views for an evening meal. The ambiance was busy, and noisy. Hard to have a four-way convo. The food was quite tasty though, although the bill hurt. Cocktails were smooth, and overall a nice place to meet up with friends for a nice dinner. Make a rezzie tho!

As soon as you arrive at level 18, it feels like you ve arrived at a swanky New York City rooftop bar. The dimmed lights and the decor really set the ambience. I arrived early to my booking and was offered a seat at the bar where I was entertained by the friendly bartenders. The music was absolutely phenomenal ranging from 80s to chilled RnB to modern pop, keeping the atmosphere of the restaurant fun yet intimate. I was unaware that the menu was mostly pescatarian with just two red meat dishes. I personally don t prefer fish as a main and the only red meat main was a $160 rib eye, which was disappointing. However, the stracciatella, the grilled beans and the eggplant were unique and delicious. Overall, a great place to catch up with friends or a lovely date choice! But not something I d pick if you re looking for outstanding food.

Beautiful comfortable space with amazing food. Great service, really good wine list. The food is so interesting, so tasty, beautifully seasoned and balanced, everything was perfect. We had the jatz crackers with anchovy and smoked butter, the onion tartlet, the coral trout crudo (we wanted a mountain of this afterwards), the Brussels sprouts, John Dory, calamari with salmoriglio. Everything exceeded our expectations. Would eat here every night if I could afford it. Thank you to everyone for this experience.

Nice plating, nice crockery, but the most important component wasnt there, just not very flavourful. Seems like all the reviews out there and the media help you get customers in the door but after that the experience is just not up for it, sadly.

A refreshingly fabulous dining experience. The first surprise was arriving at the rooftop restaurant to find a warm, inviting spacious venue. We were greeted by our waiter who let us know he was aware of my daughters allergies immediately alleviating any concerns. The food and service was simply divine. The kitchen easily (and happily) made slight adjustments to accommodate the allergies and our meal was sensational. Every dish was a taste sensation - even the house made bread! The cocktails were VERY good too.

What an amazing experience. I came in for a table for 1. From the moment I was greeted I felt very comfortable and at home. You can tell that the staff are all happy here by how well they all perform. I cannot fault this place besides it being cashless. I will 100% be back. Thankyou for looking after me

A busy Friday night had the team on the hop but the food was even better than I d hoped for . Often when ordering lots of plates to share , there are one or two dishes which seem a little lacklustre in comparison to the others. Not here. Every single share plate was superb as a stand alone dish as well as part of the overall meal - nothing clashed..it absolutely sang. Bright, fresh flavours. Didn t try too hard- just a really clever menu, executed beautifully. I d expect nothing less from Chef Mitch Orr . Wish we could have stayed longer than our 2 hour time slot. We will be back.. restaurant gold!

The dinner menu is interesting and unique, plenty of choice for Pescatareans and the food is exquisitely presented. Fabulous views, cool music and great drinks - I felt like I was in LA or NYC looking out over Sydneys rooftops. Excellent.

It was a excellent experience to come here to celebrate my birthday, the indoor vibe is very comfortable to chill out with friends and the city sky view is awesome. Also just a little advice what if this vibe has a pasta would be great

We recently celebrated a couple of birthdays at Kiln and it had to be one of the best nights we have had in 2023. We could not fault any of the dishes that we chose. It was all very tasty and very well presented. The meals were complemented with a good wine list which offered some great choices for all tastes. The staff were also excellent and knowledgeable. It is one place to re-visit very soon.

Fabulous night at Kiln. Located at the top of the Ace Hotel on the site of an old brick factory, the restaurant entry is via a fire door off a laneway but the glass walled room is 18 floors up with an open kitchen & views of the sunset & city. It s fun, vibrant & a little bit quirky. The menu is designed to share & it was difficult to choose but we took our time & slowly nibbled our way through. Chef s celebrated jatz crackers with smoked butter & anchovy make an appearance but even though they re famous, I couldn t do it. Everything else was sensational. Definitely a winner.

Kiln is a beautifully appointed space with great views from every seat, and it skillfully straddles the ambience of being luxurious without feeling intimidating. The staff are professional, knowledgeable and warmly welcoming, and they ably catered to our requests; there are tasty vegan options and the sharing plates are ample. Ours was a casual catch up lunch among friends, however Im looking forward to enjoying a romantic dinner next time at Kiln. This is a fabulous space for groups, the food is expertly prepared - dont skip the incredible bread (its not *just* bread!) - and the cocktails are creative and delicious. Thanks Kiln for making our little lunch a special event!

Amazing! Service was flawless. Our waitress was a young French lady from Lyon. She was so knowledgeable about all the dishes, accommodating with all our requests. Perfection! Ambiance was fab. The views of Sydney are incredible, especially from that part of town. I could see my apartment, Hyde Park and the Opera House! The downside might just be the accoustic. It felt at times very noisy. Food was the star! Bread was served in thick slices with a smooth butter. The oysters were so delicious we had to order more! I ordered the tuna belly entrée, which I liked very much. For main we all had the john dory, which blew our expectations. In conclusion, we loved it: we ll be back!

Being reminded of our 2 hour timeslot not less than 4 times through the meal is becoming way too Sydney! Being offered dessert at the bar, but they have no spaces at the bar / lounge is even more Sydney. Food was good but not outstanding. Never thought I d order a Jatz cracker but I did, and it was as you d expect a Jatz cracker to be. Literally bullied out the door so if you want a decent catch up without having to bar hop to do so or your dining partners are habitually late then Kiln isn t for you. A shame that alcohol mark ups and over priced Jatz crackers don t make enough of a margin to allow guests to stay longer . I observed lots of staff doing nothing so perhaps that s the pressure point that can be diminished.

Kiln restaurant at the Ace Hotel in Surry Hills is quickly becoming one of my faves. The view of the city is fabulous and the atmosphere in the restaurant gives fun elegant vibes! The cocktails are fantastic but it is the incredible food coming out of the kitchen that brings me back. Chef Mans is amazingly talented and serves delicious and innovative dishes! There are so many selections to choose from and you will enjoy all of them. Just make sure to save room for dessert! It s worth it!

This is my second time at Kiln and it is a fantastic dining experience. I would say dining at Kiln is a must do in sydney.

Using high-quality produce, meats, and seafood, Chef Mitch innovates without pretense, bridging dining divides. Its a culinary adventure, inviting diners to explore new flavors in an approachable setting.

This is a very well-run Restaurant. The service is excellent, and each staff member understands and has a vested interest in ensuring that you understand the menu. Everything is done carefully, calmly and efficiently. It is a happy place and the staff do their best to ensure an enjoyable and memorable occasion. The menu is fresh food well presented, and each course has an interesting twist of its own. A interesting wine list has something for every taste and wallet. It enables matching food and wine. We had a great time and would not hesitate to recommend the Kiln we found to anyone.

Update: As requested in the reply from Kiln to this review, I sent an email and never got a response. Nice spot which was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday night. We ordered the set menu which was good, although the portion sizes seemed a bit off in particular the dessert when the 4 of us at the table had to share 1 bowl of ice cream, especially since the person next to us ordered it off the menu and had a bowl to themselves. Another thing was none of the courses were explained, just left of the table, which isn t a huge thing but it is nice when you re talked through the courses. Service wasn t the best either, after we finished we had to wait a good 30mins until someone came and asked if we wanted the bill.

Bloody tops! The food, the space and the friendly staff make this place a must visit.

One of the best restaurants I have been to in recent times. The food/service is amazing. I frequent a lot of Merivale venues because you know Sydney, but this is such a one of a kind restaurant. Everything we ate was so flavorful and well balanced. I love that it s a rooftop restaurant and I could watch the sunset while enjoying the delicious food. 10/10 would recommend. My favorite was the carpaccio, but I may be biased after being pregnant.

My recent visit to Kiln was a culinary and auditory nightmare. The evening began with the entries of Bread with Koji Butter and a Jatz cracker adorned with inexplicable toppings. It set the stage for a set menu that, much like a puzzling riddle, left me scratching my head in confusion. The concoction of flavors throughout the courses seemed like a haphazard experiment rather than a thoughtful culinary experience. It was as if the chef had abandoned any sense of coherence, leading to a series of dishes that left my taste buds in a state of disarray. To add insult to injury, the soundtrack of the evening was an obnoxious blend of loud and intrusive R&B music. Conversations were drowned out by the cacophony, and the restaurant ambiance felt more like an ill-conceived nightclub than a place for an enjoyable dining experience. Regrettably, my evening at Kiln concluded with a sense of culinary bewilderment. This restaurant left me with more questions than answers, and I wont be subjecting myself to such an unpalatable symphony of confusion again.

Great restaurant with a NYC rooftop vibe. Great food and the DJ on Friday nights is really awesome too. Best dish was the aged steak, its pricey but so worth it, delicious.
