Enjoy South-East Asian street food and tasty cocktails in an all-new venue made for late night fun.
Not much to say but EXCELENTEEE!!!! The service was great and the food was superb! Really really nice! We did bottomless Sunday and the staff was so attentive. Big shout out to Gigi who really accommodated every single one of us (total 16 people) to have really great Christmas catch-up. Thank you Mumu and Gigi! I enjoyed the experience too much so I forgot to take some of other photos.
The restaurant food is amazing, one of the best asian fusion places I've ever been! anything in the menu is unbelievably good, just the right amount of spice too. The place looks fabulous too and service is very kind. Is a tiny bit too noisy at times. But is absolutely fantatsic, I can't wait to come back!!
Modern Asian cuisine. Food is tasty with nice flavours. However, table was cramp and they wouldn’t allow us to combine tables. Service was mixed - eg there was no water refill despite requests.
A great spot for Southeast Asian-inspired cuisine in a chic, upscale setting. The menu offers a wide range of dishes, blending authentic flavors with modern twists. The wine selection is also excellent, adding to the overall experience. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality and ambiance make it worth it. Definitely a place I’d recommend for a special night out!
The selection of food was wonderful. Love the atmosphere, fast service and very polite. A wonderful selection of Asian cuisine with a touch of fusion. Nothing was too much from our waitress Billie who did everything to please which only enhanced the experience. Will come here more regularly.
I went to Mumu for the first time today with my partner and the service from Maya was absolutely amazing. From the food to the atmosphere to Maya’s amazing service and warm welcoming was an absolute pleasure. She truly is an asset to the restaurant. The mud crab and sweet and sour pork was outstanding! Will definitely be going again.
Been in sydney for almost 2 years but couldn't visit this place even though I used to work just behind it. The food's great in taste with below average portions but with lightning fast service for not so cheap price tag. So all of us are vegetarians there were minimum options available. All of them were pretty decent. We just found the Wok Fried Greens drenched in just raw oil which was a bit of a setback for us, so we thought of giving feedback but the waitress just told us "they are always like that" rudely, which was not a very good experience. Except that, everything was pretty decent and appetizing. Must Visit for sure
Delicious food in a vibrant atmosphere 🧡💙 It's a casual vibe with a not-so-casual pricetag. Came with a group of friends so we ordered quite a few starters, mains, cocktails and all the desserts (except the watermelon). Pretty much without exception, the food was flavourful and balanced traditional Asian and modern Aussie tastes.
Came here to enjoy their bottomless brunch. The food was surprisingly good and they catered for my pescatarian needs. They swapped out some meat dishes with grilled prawns and had served up prawn dumplings to replace the pork spring rolls. Good flavours all round. Service from the wait staff was good too. Wouldve given 5 stars, if the bar staff could keep up with my drinking needs. Overall, a nice experience.
Amazing Foods offers incredible dishes, including halal meat options! The Sweet Prawn Betel Leaves are an absolute must-try as a starter, and the Angus Beef Ribs are simply outstanding tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. And they provide top notch customer service!! Highly recommended!
Small, cheaply made, crowded restaurant feels like a takeaway diner. Food was incredible and cheap banquets. Feels like a lunch place. Enjoyed the food. Didn t like the setting or the decor. Vegetarian options: yes Dietary restrictions: yes Parking: limited as its the city Kid-friendliness: yes Wheelchair accessibility: squishy
We did the set menu and every dish was sensational. Excellent Asian flavours and quality produce.
Really enjoyed dinner here. Staff were super attentive and the food was amazing.
Had the most beautiful waitress for the night! Shoutout Maya! She made the night so easy. It makes such a difference when staff is involved. She had the most beautiful persona and energy. Food came quickly as well as drinks. Fast and efficient
Vibrant lunchtime venue. We went for the banquet menu - a great choice to try a variety of food. Seafood was a standout. The greens were popular and a great way to balance the meal. I overheard a comment that is noisy but throughly disagree as I felt it created a vibrant atmosphere. My colleague was a big fan of the watermelon at the end of the meal who thought it was very juicy.
We reserved a table for 5 today (taking 3 of our clients for a Christmas meal) and all-in-all, the experience was underwhelming and overpriced. The food was decent asian fusion, but nothing groundbreaking. The staff, who all seem attractive and trendy enough, are nonchalant and appear borderline bored/ pissed off to be there. Also, next to us we asked why two men in the corner seemed to get excellent service and the waitress simply said they are regulars and VIPs. Added to this, though we got the banquet, there was a 40 minute delay in getting the last half of our menu - and we asked three members of staff before it finally came out. No one really seemed that bothered. I would give this place a miss - there are many cheaper and better venues.
Must try the Nasi Goreng!! And the Sambal Margherita. If you are lucky enough to get TT as your waitress you ve hit the jackpot! Her attention to detail is beyond. Thank you for having us .
Loved the ambiance! everything was good
I am Swiss and a cook and pastry chef and frankly it was extremely disappointing! I ordered eggplant fritters and lamb chops and here is the result; - the ultra sweet eggplants, plus for the price there was only that on the plate, the same for the lamb. So I took white rice but it lacked salt. Ultra expensive for what it was. Maybe I hadnt ordered the right dishes like the noodles...
We tried Mumu for the first time for lunch. Were gluten free and pescatarian, so Asian usually works well. Fortunately they were able to assist with a few good options. The set back for us as a party of 2, was the prices. We hoped to share a few light dishes, but just 2 entree size dishes and a bottle of water was going to be over $80.. so we didnt keep ordering. We had been to Indu the day before and had a feast of 5 share dishes and a wine for $125. So to be honest, we were pretty shocked at the prices for what you got. It would probably work great for 3 or more, just not for 2 unless youre cashed up and can do 2 dishes each. Staff were lovely, and very helpful. Decor is cool. Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free
We ate a delicious lunch today and our waitress Cara was just amazing!!!! 100%recommend.
Very cool and fun vibe delicious food , good customer service.
Wow and wow........ People working here are more special then food, and food with no doubts, is very refreshing and tasty.
Price to portion size is crazy bad. Not worth it. $33 for a nasi goreng that doesnt even feed one person.
Amazing meal, the flavour explosion was sensational! The crispy eggplant was definitely the hero and loved the vegan beetle leaf entree and the crispy Brussel sprouts!!!! They happily accommodated my vegan & GF food preferences
I visited this place after seeing it go viral on Instagram. The decor was pleasant overall, but the food was seriously overrated. If you ve had authentic Indonesian cuisine, you wouldn t consider this is good Indonesian food. We ordered the nasi goreng, lamb chops, and sweet and sour pork. The nasi goreng cost $36, so I was expecting something special, but it was just average and overpriced. The sweet and sour pork tasted like a Panda Express takeout meal and honestly, Panda Express does it better! The lamb chops were decent compared to the other dishes, but nothing remarkable. We paid $168 in total, and it was definitely not worth it. We even had to go to a food court afterward to grab some seafood noodles to cleanse our palates.
Great food, service, vibe & tunes. All of Chris recommendations were great. Fried calamari in particular was standout; great seasoning. Food
Delicious food, good vibe
The best Asian food restaurant Ive been to so far in Sydney. Amazing food, real flavour and lots of vegetarian options. Very very happy
Went here for dinner without a booking and we were very lucky to get a space as my friend told me it takes weeks to get a booking there! The vibes were immaculate, the service was amazing and the food was absolutely delish! One of the best asian fusion restaurants in Sydney for sure! I recommend getting the charsui chicken, prawns, crispy eggplant and garlic rice! I will definitely be back!
Food was abhorrent. $11 for a frozen prawn is mental. Service isnt bad though
Amazing restaurant they let us sit outside and eat not like there shittty neighbours
Food is very nice, especially Nasi goreng. A bit loud though
Everything is so good!!! Especially the staff is so friendly Food is so tasty
All dishes were delicious. The service was a bit disappointing, perhaps because it was busy.
Had the garlic fried rice, lamp cutlets and herb salad, highly recommend.
Very good place. Service was pretty good for our table but our friends sitting a different table had not good service to the point it ruined it for them. Food overall was quite good although some of the food carried similar flavours. I had some diet restrictions and the easily accommodated me and made me feel like it was no problem. Good drinks and decent food makes this restaurant a good choice.
Had a great time there a few weeks ago. It was my birthday, Aggie and team made it extra special. Food was delicious, service fabulous. Thank you
Chaotic, disorganised and impersonal service. Great food.
What an amazing meal!! What a cool place!!! And thank you Maya for your time, recommendations, and service. From two country bumpkins coming to the big smoke, one with a garlic allergy, your service was impeccable. P.S. have the Brussels sprouts!!!
Great food, great service, what a vibe!
LOVED this place. There s a reason there s a long line out the door! Food was fresh and delicious and the restaurant has a really good vibe. We got a few dishes and shared them. I recommend the crispy eggplant and the kingfish! Vegetarian options: There are a few vegetarian options
Beautiful food and great vibe. GG and all of the other servers were all amazing and gave the best service! We had a beautiful time.
Our waitress Maya was amazing, friendly and professional, also very helpful and provided an enjoyable and smooth dinning experience! Great food. Highly recommend!
Very lively restaurant with amazing service staff. Especially, massive thanks to Aggie who served our table for the night. We asked for her recommendations on our mains to share and everything she recommended was amazing! She was very friendly and easy to chat to. Excellent service! Vegetarian options: cauliflower dish was amazing!
Staff Aggie gave us the best dining experience with her very professional and friendly services.
Food & service are good but the signage is non existent. So it s next to impossible to find this restaurant. Please improve your signage
Such an amazing excellent place . Delicious food - the lamb cutlets were OUT OF THIS WORLD
Had the spicy pork noodle and the garlic rice for a late dinner and it was delicious. We share this two plates and it was good enough for both of us. Thank to Billie for her warm welcome and service. Food
Delicious kingfish and paw paw as an entree! To die for
Good vegetarian options
An inner city eatery for modern Asian. Tasted great at the time however the amount of salt or msg left us thirsting for water all evening. Had the set menu, great selection.
What looked like a busy loud restaurant was in fact an incredible tour de force of service and beautiful food. Considering the place was packed the service was brilliant, it was easy to have a great conversation and we were blown away by the food. The banquet is definately the way to go if your a first timer at MuMu. The Betel prawn is unusual and compelling. Singapore Lobster was brilliant, I wore a large amount of it by the end. There was literally nothing that wasnt great. Interestingly where most banquet menus have everything the same and add dishes as you go up in price each MuMu banquet is very different each level you go up....we will definately be back
Maya is the best, she will make sure you have a great time. Ask for Maya
Had a lovely night at MuMu recently! Food was fantastic - came out so quick, our dietary requirements were looked after, and everything was delicious. All the staff were very friendly, we were looked after by a young man called Jack who made sure we were comfortable during our time there. The atmosphere was great! Music was at a perfect level, it didn t get in the way of conversation but still made the space feel lively. Will definitely be going back again soon!
A great place to go casually
Amazing food. Friendly staff. Worth each dollar
Great place good food
A great late night spot. Coming from Brisbane where late night dining doesnt exist, its a pleasure to have it. Post concert dinner at midnight. Interesting modern Asian menu that feels much more pub style rather than restauranty. My standout dish was the crispy eggplant. A little salty but its a bar/restaurant so plenty of good drinks to balance the strong Asian flavours. A DJ plays cool tunes that gives the place a great vibe. Be sure to grab bar side seating. A great place to visit with a group
Amazing food and great atmosphere! They provide great vegetarian options based on their regular menu on request!
It s such a fun place to go, with a lively atmosphere and great vibes. They serve food quickly, and the service is excellent. We even got an apology peach shot, which was delicious. Plus, I loved their funky fridges at the bar it added a unique touch to the place!
Wow Cannot fault this place Food, service, cocktails all absolutely amazing!! Very impressive Food : 5/5 |
Mumu find: Garlic rice heaven! Best fried rice in Sydney? Mumus got my vote. Egg noodles & sweet and sour pork: decent, but not the stars. Bonus: People-watch from outdoor seats. Catch the light rail zooming by for extra urban vibes. Garlic rice lovers, this ones for you!
Deserves nothing less than 5 stars. Great food is an understatement. All the dishes were amazing and packed with flavour Food : 5/5
Such a great atmosphere, the food was really good. I took clients here for lunch and I really recommend it.
We just visited MuMu for lunch, the overall experience was pretty average. The food was decent but service was pretty bad. The major let down for this place would be the service. Some of the waiters and waitresses were ok but there was one that stood out, which brought the whole team down. When requesting chilli, the request was snubbed off and the chilli never came. The cherry on top was when we were paying the bill as we were leaving, we approached the counter and was told to sit down at the table. As she approached with the bill, (as asians do, we try to shout lunch) I stood up at the table, to gesture I ll pay, she deliberately walked to the other side of the table with a sour face. Rudely just keyed in the amount in the machine and held it there. Overall, this last interaction led to this review as it really left a foul taste of this venue. Probably a bad day for this waitress, but this treatment was unacceptable. I ve never experienced this treatment from any other merivale venue, which is a bigger let down as merivale has always held a high standard.
MuMu is a top-tier dining spot in Sydney for those who love Southeast Asian flavors with a modern twist. The ambiance is energetic and trendy, making it perfect for a memorable night out. Our dining experience was elevated by the exceptional service. June, the manager, ensures everything runs smoothly, and TT, our server, was warm, attentive, and knowledgeable, making great recommendations that enhanced our meal. The food was phenomenal we have tried all the food and each of them are bursting with flavor. Each dish was beautifully presented and perfectly balanced. With great service, delicious food, and a lively atmosphere, MuMu delivers a 5-star experience that s well worth visiting.
Food is delicious, the staff is friendly and the service is Topp notch.
The food is super delicious!! But everything comes in very very small portions, which honestly cost a lot for the dishes for the portion it has.
We had the lunch banquet. There are quite a few dishes. Each is very flavoursome and delicious. Dessert tastes amazing with lychees in it. Very reasonable prize too.
Vibrant atmosphere and lovely service, though food is far from good.
Had a dinner here in the semi-private room, the service was absolutely lovely and so quick. The wait-staff were excellent and so helpful, catering to my guests dietaries and helping me set up the table. The space was lovely and vibrant and the food was delicious - we ate from the set menu! Would highly recommend this place for a dinner with friends or event. Thank you to the staff!
The taste is so so Dont pay cash. You calculated incorrectly. You can pay more than with a card.
Everything was fantastic had the fried calamari and partner had the Nasi Goreng cant fault anything - it was busy BUT service was fast and food yummy ty
Food and ambience were fantastic however Lunch service was VERY slow. I had to leave before dessert was served as we were there 2.5hrs already, 30mins over time. I really wanted to try the dessert but was already late returning to the office after this business lunch for my next meeting.
The garlic rice was the best fried rice I ve had in Sydney. The spicy marg was great
All food very tasty and diverse! Highly recommended
Amazing food, amazing vibe and you get to spot celebrities as well. We saw Matt Damon walk in and out casually .
Love the ambiance , food and service. Friendly staffs.
I ve come twice with my family and Mumu has never disappointed! Personal favorites are the Char Kway Teow and the Short Ribs. You re always in for great service, especially if you have Maya serving your table.
Modern restaurant with mixed Asian (more Southeast Asian) style
I m gonna be fully transparent, I didn t pay for this meal cuz it was covered by other people so I m not gonna comment on the price which is on the pricier side but can most definitely comment on the service here because the waiters and kitchen were so accomodating for dietary requirements, even going to double checking and making a new plate just in case. Food tasted really good too, we got the lunch tasting menu and loved the juicy prawn and the dessert was banging. Second visit: delicious food once again, although you can get better, authentic dishes like the bun cha elsewhere.
Had dinner with my work colleagues. The atmosphere was vibrant and loud. The course meal was amazing. Loved the vegetarian menu even if I m not a vegetarian my best from the vegetarian menu was the crispy eggplant and the coconut sorbet
Slow to get a table, I had to ask numerous times. And food is below average for Asian fusion, unfortunate.
Disappointing food.
Food was good. Service was a little poor. It took 20mins to get table water. We ordered 5 dishes and after asking the wait staff about our entree twice, we still didn t receive it, nor was any communication give to us, therefore we cancelled the dish as we had finished everything else. We proceeded to order a bottle of wine and dessert, and after 30mins they forgot our wine also. Thankfully we were in a celebratory mood, had it been anything else it would have dampened our evening more.
What I have to mention first is the service here. The waitresses and waiters are super nice and friendly, they make this place special than anyway else even its quite a pricy option to choose. There are so much to choose from the menu, the menu is actually the table mat so everyone has a chance to read through the menu (even the light inside is so dim). The restuarant is pretty packed during the peak hours so beware of some waiting time. All the dishes we ordered are so delicious. Worth to try!
On June 30, 2024, I had the pleasure of celebrating my cousin s birthday dinner at this restaurant, and our experience was made exceptional thanks to the service provided by Maya, one of the waitstaff. Maya was incredibly attentive to our needs and demonstrated a high level of initiative throughout the evening. From the start, Maya quickly sensed the celebratory atmosphere and added personal touches that made our event even more special. Without needing to be asked. One of the highlights of the evening was when Maya suggested surprising my cousin with a special dessert. She arranged everything flawlessly, adding an extra layer of joy and excitement to our celebration. Maya was always there at the right moments, ensuring our drinks were filled and answering all our questions with a smile and deep knowledge of the menu. Her friendly and professional service made the evening unforgettable. We greatly appreciate Maya s efforts and attentiveness, and we would gladly return to this restaurant, especially with the outstanding service Maya provided. Thank you, Maya, for making my cousin s birthday dinner so memorable!
Great date night spot! Staff were attentive and the range of food made the night fun and interesting! Easy to get to by public transport
We went for a sunday lazy lunch at Mumu s. The place was surprisingly a bit emptier than her sister Toti s but we absolutely did not mind that. The staff were lovely and actually took the time to understand the flavours we like and helped us order. The environment and vibes of the restaurant were hip but classy. A perfect office//friends lunch place. However, if you re looking for a bit more privacy for a date night then maybe go for Toti s instead. We ordered their: Sweet Prawn Betel Leaf - was absolutely fantastic. The taste comes in layers and each time you think you know how it tastes a different flavour takes over your taste bud. 7/10 Honey glazed charsiu chicken - the softest most flavourful charsiu chicken I had, the skin on top I think was the secret to holding the mouthwatering flavours. Definitely don t forget to eat it with the side of mango and carrot salad! 9/10 Smoked brisket char kway teow - again, the flavours came alive in our mouth and it was freshly made! I just wish the portion was a bit larger when compared to the price! 7.5/10
Looking for a good place in Sydney CBD Asian restaurant? You may want to consider visiting this place. They have a lot of different food to offer at a decent price. Let me give you my Ratings on the following: Food - 4 Star - We loved everything food that we ordered from dish 1 until the last dish. Except for the dessert, my honest opinion the dessert called Halo-Halo is a famous dessert from the Philippines and I was expecting the restaurant to elevate the way of serving it. Unfortunately, it disappointed us when it was served because first, the presentation was not good. Maybe instead of serving it in a big plate bowl just serve it in a nice small bowl because first, there s not much to see in the bowl aside from the ice cream and the green jelly that adds colour. without the ice cream maybe the dessert can be so overpriced in my opinion. Only 3 slices of green jelly, plus some jackfruit, round jelly (few pieces) and the last is the Pineapple. Pineapple doesnt compliment the Halo Halo as the pineapple is too sour. I feel bad because everything that we ordered was exceptional until the final dish came in, Halo Halo. Service - 5 - the lady receptionist is very welcoming and very accommodating. I cant be more specific as she is very well deserved for the compliment. - They will ask you when you order if you have dietary restrictions which is perfect! Staff 5 - Visit them if you want to experience the awesome team. Recommendations: - Booking is essential during peak hours during lunch and dinner but off pick hours, you can walk in and wait a bit then they will give you a table. - Food, I like the chicken glazed, Sweet and sour pork, Fried Rice!!! is ready good. - Drinks: Havent tried any as we both dont drink and we didnt ask for any non-alcoholic bev too. Overall: - Price: $$-$ but worth it to try and come back again - Parking: NA - Wheelchair: Yes, accessible. - Dietary: Yes, available. Will come back again next time and try other dishes. Dietary restrictions: seafoods
The vibe is unmatched here, really cool atmosphere, the waitresses are the nicest and the food is actually insanely good. Would recommend, 10/10.
Staff is really nice and service is excellent. Food is great and the vibe of the place is really cool. I can recommend the calamari and the Vietnamese flan. Personally think they deserve higher than their 4.0 rating!!
Ate here with my girlfriend and brother. The food was delicious with a great atmosphere. The waiter Pierre provided exceptional service and was very friendly.
This place is really busy. Loved the food and Ambience. Quantity could be a bit more . We were told it s enough for sharing but was just enough for 1 person. Had to reorder . And the staff missed our drinks.
An incredibly fun, casual restaurant putting up some vibrant food and cracking cocktails with a really fun atmosphere. Great vibes all round!
Had a nice birthday dinner last sunday at Mumu. Dina was very attentive and made the whole experience enjoyable. Foods were great, was a pleasant dining experience after all :)
Food was good. We spent $270 between two people. One of the staff who gave us the bill was very rude, telling us just so you know lots of people are waiting in a very aggressive tone. Seems like she s african american. We were there for one hour. The other staff there were nice.
Exceptional service. Food is fabulous and staff are extraordinarily knowledgeable and attentive and their fun. You haven t lived until you ve had this dessert . I wish I could remember what it was called.
Pretty good, dont get the Wagyu
Main issue is the service is very inconsistent tables next to us got solid service, but we waited more than 45min after the appetizer to get one main. Then we had to find a server to ask about the other two mains and never got the rice we ordered. In all, we were there for more than 1.5hrs, with most of that time waiting. The food is okay to good, same with the atmosphere.
Great food and amazing service. We were sat down really fast, food came within 10-15 mins and it was delicious. Smoked brisket Wok Dish had such great flavor. Great vegeterian options too. Vegetarian options: Claypor fried rice Mushroom tofu Brussel sprouts
Service is great. Food is nice. Drinks are expensive. $20+ for a glass of wine and $15 for a schooner of tap beer is a bit rich. Nasi Goering is amazing.
Extremely nice food would definitely recommend
We were seated at the bar and got sprayed by a cocktail. No apology. Service was lacking - wrong order, customers that came later got server first. Food was pretty good though (really enjoyed the short rib) but beware the $13 water.
Staff could not be less interested in providing any level of hospitality. Enduring them mustering up fake smiles for a millisecond was enough to diminish my experience despite the food being reasonably good. I want to support hospitality but there was not much to be found at MuMu.
The food was amazing. The service was slightly slow but worth the wait. The staff was super friendly as well. Food
Mumu offers an explosion of flavor with each dish, although some may find the intensity overwhelming after a while. While the portions are generous and satisfying, the service could benefit from a bit more attentiveness and speed. Overall, Mumu is a decent option for those seeking a bold and flavorful dining experience, as long as youre prepared for a potentially heavy meal and a bit of a wait
Tried the set menu at MuMu and it was full of flavour, a lot of dishes and generous portions too. The service was very efficient and friendly. Would definitely recommend for any occasion.
Food and the ambients are very trendy and contemporary. Food are of sharing portion but delicious. Lunch peak hours can be crowded and staff can be pushy to get more orders off you.
The atmosphere of this establishment is good however the rest didnt quite match up with the vibe leaving it feeling rather sad. As for the food itself, it fell short of expectations. The flavor profile was largely dominated by just salt, with little to no nuance or complexity. However, one redeeming aspect was the Kway Teow, which had a commendable charred flavor that added some depth to an otherwise lackluster experience. Moreover, there were notable issues with the service. Despite the presence of what seemed to be an adequate number of staff members, our table was not set when the food arrived. Basic expectations such as having plates readily available were not met, which was disappointing given the circumstances. In summary, while there were some positive elements such as the decent charring on the Kway Teow, the overall dining experience left much to be desired. The lack of flavor variety and the service shortcomings detracted from what could have been an enjoyable meal.
The best nasi goreng in town
Service was incredibly poor. I would ve seen a waiter three times the whole time we were at the restaurant and had to ask for water a couple of times. I spoke to the manager, who was moderately apologetic but did nothing further. Food was mid and exceptionally oily. I would not recommend it particularly for the price.
Great asian fusion food. Recommend their calamari and spicy pork noodles! Food
Always great service and food!
All dishes ordered exceeded our expectations.
Really poor understanding of celiac disease here and cross contamination.
The food looks great, but its still salty even though we asked for less salt.
Yummiest Asian food Ive had the pleasure of eating within Australia, the garlic rice, tofu and eggplant did not disappoint and full of flavour. The place has a buzz about it and service is quick. If I lived in Sydney Id be there every week!!
Really fun vibe, great setting and lighting. Worth going with a group of people before a night out on the town as people talk in the intoxicated decibel range (very loud lol). But the food so delicious and interesting. So much flavour! I love the fusion! Betel Leaf, Wontons, Crispy Chicken and Garlic Claypot Rice was what we ordered and we loved! Would definitely come back with a group of friends, but not for a date night hard to talk lol. :)
Great
Drinks ordered on arrival were forgotten, had to chase up and then the wrong ones were delivered (wait another 10 mins). Tasty food but courses were not delivered at the same time so had to eat dishes separately for a while (my pet irritation when eating out). Polite staff. I won t rush back.
The atmosphere is really good. You do feel like you are in a premium and unique taste environment. Great to hang out with friends. 5 stars for that. The food quality and the choice are as expected. Nothing out of extraordinary. 3 stars. It is a bit pricy. Especially when 8 of us on a weekday were charged 10% extra as service charge. That is a surprise and a rip off. 1 star for that. Average 3 stars
I visited around 4 oclock on a weekday and it was nice because there were no people! After reading the reviews, I tried nasi goreng, crispy eggplant, and seasonal asian greens, and they were all generally delicious. The sauce for the fried eggplant was very salty and sour, so I ate it all while saying it was salty. It was nice to visit when I was in the mood for hamburgers and fish and chips. Its worth trying at least once, but its usually very seasoned, so keep that in mind.
Food was so good and service was excellent Vegetarian options: So many options Kid-friendliness: The waiters were so nice, polite and happy
Food was great...drinks were great $16 margaritas....service was fantastic. Will be back Food : 5/5
Had a fantastic lunch at Mumu. Food was outstanding. Great wine list. Service until the very end was exemplary. Had the set Banquet for 2 with a great bottle of Chardy. Sat outside people watching. Desert bowls arrived but not the desert. Mentioned the missing dish three times to staff over the next half hour plus before giving up and paying $300 sans the $50 tip we were planning to leave. Muted apology from front of house. Unacceptable service from a restaraunt of this calibre.
Make sure to book a reservation before going there. Food was delicious! Service was bit slow but may be coz it was super busy! Food
Just brilliant! We (6 people) had the banquet - everything was delicious! Great wine list - we chose some expensive bottles! A bit noisy for an old bloke like me so go early or late
Every dish is full of oil. Oil liquid left on the plate of fried rice. I taste only oil and cause at the first bite of the scallop prawn roll. Also the crispy egeplant is oil licking. I dont know how wrongly I was ordering these food. Lamp was a bit firm but good. The bbq scallop was so nice but has been removed from the menu, pity. Try durian ice cream, my only comfort of the meal. Service is not good referring the price. I ordered dessert at the beginning, the waitress says it will come up later but no one caring that weve finished main dishes for a long while and theres no ordering, on water filling, that I have to wave my hands and try so hard to make eye contact with someone finally order the ice cream for us.
Delicious food, fun atmosphere. Service good although our waitress tried pretty hard to upsell us to order more food. Overall good and would definitely go back
WOW! I have been here 3 times and I can honestly say, this place is incredible. From the DJ playing the best tunes to the most absolutely incredible food, which makes you want to just come back for more and finally the service is some of the best I have had in Sydney CBD! The only thing that needs a bit of work are the bathrooms as they are stinky. Thank you MuMu and the staff for making such an incredible venue. See you soon.
Finally got into this restaurant on a work trip. Food was served quickly and super flavoursome. I recommend the nasi goreng
Friendly and delicious. They offered me 1/2 portions because I was there by myself.
Honestly food was okay and on the pricey side. Really enjoyed the char siu but the rest were quite average. Sharing portions were a bit hard for a group as well. However I liked the table seating area for a group and felt that service was excellent!
Wow! The food was flawless. Every single thing we ate was delicious. We ordered from each part of the menu and felt satisfied but not sickly full. The vibe was fun and the booth seating was great for our group of 5. The service could have been better however they were really busy and everyone we asked for water ect was lovely. Highly recommend
Went to MuMu for a Sunday lunch. I got a cool 80s vibe with the fluoro sign and Brit pop music as I walked in with. Big tick for the atmosphere. It said on the menu that the chefs were inspired by the SE Asian street food. We loved the raw salmon with Jalapeno nam jim and lamb cutlets, garlic fried rice and duck kway teow both hit the mark. Wasnt crazy about the pipis with glass noodles and the fried calamari was just ok. For the desserts, the banh flan and pandan cake were yum. My partner devoured the durian ice cream, not for my tastebuds. Service was attentive and the whole experience was fun.
We ordered a feast between a bunch of us and every single item was delicious! Atmosphere was fun too. Will definitely be back :)
Very bad service. I ll never come again. I ve been to Mumu a few times, and twice I was in their private dining area. I had an amazing experience before, I guess because I was with clients and we ordered banquets and lots of wine. But today, I dined with my family. I know I made a last-minute online booking as we originally wanted to go to a Korean BBQ, but I said I wanted to go to MUMU. The table wasn t ready, and I don t mind sitting at the bar, but what about the service? Just because we re Asian, we don t deserve the same level of service? We moved to the bar area, and there was no cloth napkins , only a wet tissue . The table wasn t even cleaned up before we sat down. We were given forks and spoons while others had chopsticks, forks and spoons, and napkins . They only gave it to me when I asked. Such terrible customer service! I get it, it s rush hour, but I shouldn t be treated like that. There were two ladies sitting next to us, and they were soon moved to a dining table, while we were treated poorly. I don t recommend anyone go there anymore. The food was good before, but not anymore. When it was served to us, it was cold. I used to like MUMU, but sadly, it will be completely removed from my list. And by the way, there s a bug on the table.
we ordered 4 dish in total, 2 starters and 2 mains, the starters are generally good, main dishes (especially claypot garlic rice) are extremely salty ...
I have to say the waitress who served our table was soo friendly and very patient. One of our friend was very late , so we decided to wait for the person and ordered the food later on. So we felt a bit awkward and asked her if we could get the food later on and have some recommendations to start with. She showed her kindness and gave us some ideas, all the recommended dishes she gave us turned out very delicious and the New Year Special main dish surprised us too! We love these types of street food and mains, and we d love to try it again! The Only thing we need to mention was that the restaurant was so noisy and loud in the dining hall, because it has live DJ music and super crowded. Maybe it is the kind of vibe they want to deliver, but after this dinner, I almost lost my voice hahahah!
I had a work dinner with my mates and I left hungry as being a vegetarian very limited options were in their menu and their dessert menu could be improved, watermelon in dessert is good but other better options can be considered by their management. Vegetarian options: Very limited dishes without meat, seafood and eggs!!
WOW! Absolutely wowzas. This restaurant was incredible, full of flavour for every bite you eat! Portion sizes are huge and every dish we had was spicy def not for the weak, if you don t like spicy might not be your fav Must try!!!
Brightly lite restaurant- the energy level high and chaos style busy The DJ was way to loud - which encouraged patrons to raise voices to have a basic conversation or hear the wait staff Speaking to only the person seated next to you The food was very good and arrived at a reasonable amount of time This is more your need to be seen style restaurant rather than a fabulous destination I am not one to return to this restaurant- you can get the same level of food at a number of locations- with out the noise and frustration Best leave this one to the need to be seen crowd with more money than sense Vegetarian options: There are a number of dishes that you could have Dietary restrictions: Non were offered and it would be a struggle as no one offered or asked Parking: The cost to park near by is so expensive- train or bus options the best idea Kid-friendliness: Menu was not really focused on kids - although you may find a few items Wheelchair accessibility: Whilst it s on the ground floor- the seating is so tight - no room to move
The good: the food and drinks were tasty, and the atmosphere was lively on a Thursday night. To improve: the service and organisation of delivery. The foods that we ordered went to the wrong table multiple times. Also, after our table was cleared, a waitstaff randomly placed a dish that we didn t order on our table. Overall: would not go back. It is marked up for ordinary Asian foods with high quality ingredients. And the disarray of the service diminished our experience.
Have dined in a few times and have never been disappointed. The vibes are great for an evening dinner with friends or a date. The dj always goes off! Great wait staff and the drinks were lovely too!
We randomly dropped in for a quick pre-theatre meal on last Friday night and had an excellent time! Lovely meet and greet and the 3 of us were seated at a shared table right near the door which felt strange at first but we soon settled in. The dj was setup at the other end of our table which was bonus. Fast friendly service and super tasty food in a very cool and happening place. The room is big and busy the open kitchen is very impressive. The servings are not large but the dishes we ordered were really good and the bonus sharing of food with our neighbours at the shared table was a bonus especially since the Brussels sprouts dish was the best ever. Tasted and recommend the calamari, chau sui chicken, char kway teow, sautéed Brussels sprouts and some extravagant fried eggplant. We will certainly be returning to try other dishes.
I was quite disappointed with my recent dining experience. My friends and I were looking forward to a pleasant lunch accompanied by a glass of wine. However, we found the food to be excessively spicy, making it nearly inedible. Upon reviewing the wine list, it appeared to be on the pricier side, although there were a couple of more affordable options available. We asked our waiter for recommendations within our budget, specifically around $15.00 per glass. He suggested a wine he deemed comparable, and we trusted his expertise. To our surprise, when the bill arrived, the suggested wine was priced at $37.00 per glass. This discrepancy left us feeling misled. It seemed as though our waiter was more focused on meeting sales targets rather than providing genuine recommendations.
I used to had a great time at MuMu with my colleagues so this weekend I brought my family here. One of the Asian staff served us with no smile just like he is ticking the boxes. But he was very nice and friendly to the Aussie customers that sat around us. The food is okay however consider the service, i wouldn t visit again.
10/10 food and dining experience, great service from Marianne and Guillem tonight
Nice and cosy place. Good place to have afternoon lunch but it can get bit busy. Its worth it though. Foods are amazing especially Garlic fried rice.
Food is amazing and price is really great for the quality.
Bad service and weird experience. This is the first time I came across such issue in sydney we came here for my sister birthday lunch but some of staff is so rude for no reason I ve got served by a tall, thin asian waiter wearing glasses. He served me with a cold face. He did accident drop a glass of red wine on my shirt and just said i m so sorry but no look after at all I feel very annoyed and sad because i have to go to another restaurant after so what is he do? he just bring machine to let us pay it s was very rude service that i received from mumu After we go out only the manager he follows up gives us$40 and t shirt thank you
Gemma was truly amazing and the only reason I stayed
food is good but very expensive
There was great food and atmosphere, but the service was non-existent. Any time we wanted to order anything, we were trying to get the attention of one of the many staff that were running around without paying attention to the tables around them. Tables close by us were laughing as we all struggled to order drinks or food. For over $600 for a table of four, you expect more.
If this restaurant is a 4 star, then must I say all those who rated it must have something wrong with their taste pallet. It is possibly one of the most overrated, overpriced food i ve tasted. To waste $150 on the banquet is not worth it at all. Please get yourself a $40 steak somewhere else then come here.
The taste is very novel and a whole new experience. I can t say it s delicious either. The price is very expensive! ! Too expensive!
It was good to explore fusion food, great services. Taste of food is good but they should be better installing a bug zapper because it was awful exp while eating food and bugs (fly, fruit fly) roaming on your table and next to your food. Vegetarian options: Couple of vegetarian options.
I came here for our Christmas party. I was pregnant at that times and told the staff. They have changed some of the dishes i am not anle to eat to other dish so that I am able to enjoy my meals as well. Honestly the place was so busy and crowded. The food taste really good and staff were friendly and helpful.
A funky, cool Asian Street food experience in the Merivale Precinct. Love the counter dining experience in front of the open kitchen. Service is friendly and efficient. While I loved the Lamb Samosas I had, the highlight was definitely the Lamb Cutlets with an amazing chilli sauce.
I visisted Mumu for a birthday dinner on a weekday. The restaurant was sp vibrant and lively it was very nice for this type of dinner. We decided to get a bunch of entrees, a few mains and a few dishes with rice and noodles. The overal meals was very delicious and I loved the diversity of the asian cuisine in the menu it was truly amazing. Even though during the night the staff were very busy they took care of our table very well and they were very nice! Also this place is such a vibe and taking photos here was so good cause everywhere looks amaing!!
Celebrated a friends birthday party and had the banquet menu. Food was overall very good although some plates were better than others. Would have liked more veggie dishes or at least a green salad. Service was excellent. Quite a loud venue, which was good for a party but not a date night.
Even though I went on a weekday evening, there were so many people and it was so noisy that it was a bit difficult to have a conversation. The atmosphere is good, the staff are friendly, and the main menu is Asian food, but both the appearance and the taste are out of the ordinary. The chicken is delicious. I cant beat Mulons Korean chicken, but still. It was delicious because it had a bit of a Southeast Asian flavor. It was expensive as all the restaurants near Lee Dong-ne were in their price range, but I think its worth visiting at least once if you want to feel the hot atmosphere of Sydney during your trip.
Best restaurant in sydney city. The food is a little salty. Food
Food was delicious, tasty and had so much flavour. The variety was great, having diverse tastes on the menu. The drinks menu was also good and the Lychee cocktail was really good. I wish I could give this 5 stars, however, the staff seemed a bit impatient when it came to ordering. It felt like they really want to push people in and out of the venue as quickly as possibly to maximise profits.
Decent vegan options, nice vibes but quite average service. We have been twice and both times have needed to remind the waiter about missing food etc.
On the one hand, the customer service was good. On the other hand, the food were TOO SALT and they were not good at all. Not very happy.
To die for are the prawn in betel leaf and the duck noodles Everything is very spicy and oily, is not light food but you surely will have an excellent time inside their urban and modern interior Food
we had about 5 or 6 dishes and everything was salty. the overall atmosphere was good.
Lovely place to eat in the city. Friendly helpful service and clean toilet
Good food, Great Vibe
Having lunch for 4 , food was delicious
Overall, the food was very nice, some dishes werent exactly to our liking (crispy rice salad). Although the lamb cutlets and the duck noodles were incredible. Service was okay, nothing fantastic but satisfactory. The wine menu was very european inspired. It wouldve been nice to see some more local wines and drop the price. Not many people want to drink a $25 glass of french white at a asian fusion restaurant . Given and charged still water ($12) for Aqua Pana, when we asked for tap water.
MuMu It s a very loud and vibrant atmosphere. We started with a couple of snacks . I enjoyed the grilled abalone but my wife was disappointed with the prawn betel leaf. We shared the raw salmon, which was overpowered by the jalapeno, and the snapper which was nice, fresh and a little spicy. For mains we chose the Murray cod and beef short rib. Both were delicious and cooked to perfectly. Had we known the mains were so large we would have skipped the entrees.
I think they think that adding loads of sugar can make their food palatable, but sorry, Asians will know what youre trying to do. flavour lack depth and is just sweet and salty. staff arent friendly either. the overall experience leaves you thinking its overpriced for... everything
Ink was so pleasant and personable! The food was delicious as well, though a tad bit salty. The atmosphere was amazing, would make a great date night.
Came here due to the recent hype of Dan Hong. The food was definitely tasty but for what it is the prices are a little steep. I suppose that s what you d expect from a restaurant located right in CBD and that belongs for the Merivale Group. The only disappoint and surprise was the watermelon dessert. It cost $10 and was literally 5 slices of watermelon with some lemon sprinkled on top of them. This dish is usually offered as free in Chinese restaurants.
Average food. Trying too hard to be trendy
Good food, good drinks, the manager was so nice! Esteban the barman was the nicest. Will totally come back
Nice Asian foods!
I recently had a fantastic experience at MuMu. We were served a very generous $90 banquet, and the food was incredibly tasty. The prawn betal leaves, nasi goreng and the Vietnamese crème caramel served with exquisitely chosen accompaniments were favourites, however, I also couldn t fault any of the other dishes. Sitting at the kitchen-facing bar was a very special experience and further added to our experience. We certainly left feeling really appreciative of the incredible work the cooking team put into creating their dishes. In addition to the great food, cocktails and service, the DJ, aesthetics and overall vibes of this place have me looking forward to returning upon my next trip to Sydney!
Fabulous New Year s Eve dinner and our waitress Jane was super friendly and knowledgeable on the food. The sauce with the snapper ceviche was incredible, as was crispy rice salad. We forgot to book Mr Wongs in advance and thought we would try Mumu s as a last minute substitute but it exceeded expectations - you won t be disappointed!
Delicious food and good place to hang out with your friends
2nd time to Mumu, food are good, but I found it difficult just to top up our drinking water. Have to asked a few times, there were this waitress whose ignoring us, I told her we need a top up, didn t come back with the water, I asked the 2nd time when she passed, she nodded but didn t actually give us the water. Have to ask another waiter before we get it. Sorry to have to give rating like this, but something like this shouldn t happen not only in a Merivale s businesses but also in any restaurant.
The food is delicious and well cooked , they definitely have good chefs. The service was great, waiters are friendly and they tell you about the expected time to be served. The only downside is that the tables are too close to each others, feels like other people are sitting with you. The music is so loud, you can t hear what the waiters yell . Some of the chairs have no backs which makes them very uncomfortable. And it s very expensive Parking: No parking in CBD, just catch the light rail. Wynyard is right next to the restaurant
What an absolutely top tier experience. The place is huge, but surprisingly not too loud. You can easily have a conversation with your table, without getting drowned out by other tables, and still listen to the music. We had the $189pp banquet and, mother of god, what an experience! All five of us cleared every single plate brought to us. The flavors were fantastic, the service super fast and friendly. Could not recommend highly enough. EDIT: Cane back 6 months later for the $90pp banquet, and god damn, this place absolutely holds up. Another fantastic experience.
Good food, good vibe, friendly staff
Made a pit stop at this place before our flight. It was absolutely worth it!! The food was excellent along with the service. Highly recommend the Abalone and Calamari laab. Will definitely come back when revisitting Sydney.
Mumu is one of my daughters favourite restaurants in Sydney. So when we had a family reunion over Xmas/NY, we booked a table for 10 on one of Mumus busiest nights. We were shown to a table at the rear of the restaurant, which proved to be ideal as the noise levels in the front main restaurant area would have been deafening. Despite the high level of activity, service was friendly and efficient. The dishes of food arrived in quick succession, all of which were delicious. The highlight, and the most expensive dish we ordered, was the roast Pork Hock, which was Huge! The generous quantity of food ordered (and note, some of the dishes are small-ish), accompanied by cocktail drinks, made for an expensive meal, but the action and vibe in this restaurant contributed to a memorable event over the festive season. Thumbs up, Mumu!
We had a booking for 5.45 to 7.45. That was plenty of time to eat and really enjoy ourselves here. There was a wide variety of entrees and main meals to choose from. We chose a lot of the dishes and all of them were very good. The service was great. The food was a little bit pricey. However, we all thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. I highly recommend coming to eat here.
