Literally could not fault this place

Had a flawless experience here. My girlfriend brought me here for my birthday and I couldn t have asked for better service, ambience, or quality of food. The ribeye was perfect medium rare, and they brought a cupcake out free of charge, just because my girlfriend mentioned it was my birthday. We didn t even mention it on the booking. 11/10

I ordered sirloin, medium rare. The meat cooked well but the piece of meat was stringy. You cant chew through. You have to swallow the meat as it was supposed to melt in your mouth. I love my steak. As l only eat meat for my diet. I have to say l am very disappointed with the cut of meat for the price. I would rather pay more for a better cut of meat. Everything was good except for the cut of meat.

A woman went there alone! Perhaps because I was alone, they gave me a seat right behind the counter. However, it was nice that even though I was a single customer, the manager kept coming and asked me what the taste was like and if the grilling of the meat was okay, and that he was attentive to the service. For the menu, I ordered a fillet cut that was recommended as tender, ragu pasta, and a glass of wine. Maybe its because I didnt order an appetizer but two main dishes, so it took a while for it to come out (20-30 minutes for one dish, in my experience). I looked it up in advance and it seemed like a business restaurant, so I was worried that a young woman might make a reservation if she made a reservation alone, but there was no such thing at all! Meat wasnt really my taste. Beef version of chicken breast? Anyway, I feel like I can never live up to the price, but I think I got paid for the service. The price was around $130 and I am satisfied with it.

Reserved about 3months ago and they assigned our table at the very corner side right behind the pantry.. it was A definition of racism obviously. Food

Felt very old school but it added to the experience. Lovely service and brilliant food. Steak cooked to perfection. Scallops were a favourite at the table.

The food, service & atmosphere were all exceptional. Our group of 4 had the Dever 240g steaks each and sides to share: wood fire grilled creamed corn, charcoal roasted baby carrots, hand cut chips and the radicchio, cos & endives side salad All dishes were faultless in their execution and attention to detail. We were lucky to be seated upstairs on a mezzanine level looking over the downstairs dining and with a view of the open kitchen. Wait staff were attentive without being annoying. We booked knowing very well the meal was pricey based on the menu but the real shocker was the price of water, $10 a bottle and we were charges 4 bottles - the wait staff keep topping up our glasses. We were given the option of sparkling or still water, lesson here, ask for tap water, we didnt notice the 2 different jusg of water until we left

Big plate nothing much on it and way too expensive! Would not go back nor recommend to anyone.

I think the reason people come to places like this is because of the food, atmosphere, and service, but its a place where you can truly experience racism that youve never experienced even in the United States. I really liked the country called Australia, but coming to this restaurant made me feel like it was an uncivilized country. The taste is real. However, it cannot be said that it is a good restaurant just because of the taste.

Everything was great until i saw the bill- we got charged $20 for 2 bottles of water! I believe this is a complete rip-off and quite stupid as a price.

We managed to get a last minute table in the bar on Friday night, the main dining room was completely booked out. Been coming here since it opened and it never disappoints. Started with chipotle margaritas, the recipe has changed but boy they are good! The steaks here are still the best in the business. We justified ordering the rich and seriously delicious creamed corn with chipotle butter by also ordering the simple boiled greens. Nice surprise to see Lorraine Godsmark s magical creation, the famed date tart, make a comeback. Service is always well informed and despite all the grandeur, this always feels like an egalitarian space. If it s a big night out or a just a burger in the bar, everyone is made feel welcome. Just love this place!

Great restaurant at the hearth of Sydneys CBD

We had a beautiful evening, the staff were extremely attentive, polite and thoughtful. We were shown a table that was easily accessible as my elderly father who was with us and had mobility issues. The food was fantastic, the staff went out of their way, when I mentioned that my 12 year old son didnt like his yuzu mocktail, and the lady made sure she took note of what favours and tastes he enjoys and got the bar tender to customise a mocktail for him which he enjoyed and had two of them. she also offered to remove the charge for the initial yuzu mocktail, which I didnt expect her to do so. A waitress, also went out of her way to find my father and 14year old son who had gone towards the wrong lift to get to the bathroom upstairs, the moment she realised they were off looking for the bathroom. We loved the first time we were here for our clinic christmas party in 2023, so we came back to have a family dinner on sunday. Our clinic team decided we would try epicurean for our christmas dinner this year, which was a mistake.( 4 out of 10 guests suffered food poisoning at the epicurean.) we should have just booked back at the Rockpool bar & grill for our christmas dinner. the food was served throughtfully, so it was seafood entrees first, then meat entrees, followed by our mains and desserts. a wonderful evening and i will recommend to everyone.

the pasta i ordered wasnt well cooked, there is some that was sticked together, i figure the kitchen is busy and they prepare food in a hurry; considering paying $58 for a pasta of which is a small portion, it s not worth it but the dining atmosphere is good vibe , service staff seems busy too, worth come for the 1st time but will not be coming again

We visit Rockpool every year to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This year it s our 20th. A little surprised that wasn t acknowledged when we first arrived as is usually the case but we received the customary cupcake at meal s end to recognise the occasion. We started with the wine asparagus dish which was delightful. My wife had the steak Diane pie which she described as sensational while I had the Cape Grim 250g filet which was cooked to its usual perfection. The carrots side dish was lovely as were the greens. I enjoyed the ice cream with Rockpool s ice magic to end the night. It was just what I needed after a heavy meal. Our wines by the glass were very good. My wife had the Maclaren Valley rose, I the Rockpool Yalumba Shiraz. Can t wait to return soon Dietary restrictions: The waiters are very conscious of this and check when taking the order to confirm any restrictions.

We saw xhs eating here. First of all, the food was very salty, let alone the steak. It was okay, but after we finished eating, we went to pay the bill. When we were walking to the bar, another waiter stopped us. We told her that we paid the bill on the other side, but she It s really ridiculous to repeatedly ask others if our table paid. If we didn t pay, why should we walk to the bar instead of going out directly? This is a restaurant that discriminates against Asians. It is recommended not to go.

The pavlova was the stuff of dreams.

They charged us a cakeage fee of $5 per person. There were four of us and the slices were smaller than a quarter of the cake so there shouldve been some remaining - not sure what happened to the rest of the cake but they didnt give it back! Definitely not right to do that if youre charging extra.

My wife, daughter and I had dinner at Rockpool last night and were very disappointed. We were celebrating a special occasion but the ambience was anything but special. The amount of tables crammed together gave it RSL bistro vibes. Staff were running up and down the stairs. A large group arrived and all the men looked like they had just come from the gym and were wearing shorts and sports shoes. This was despite the dress code on the Rockpool website: Our dress code is smart. Rockpool Bar & Grill does not admit guests dressed in sportswear or over casual clothing such as, hats, singlets, shorts, gym tights, AND running shoes. As we left, we mentioned this to a staff member, who was dismissive, basically saying, There s nothing we can do. But there is, don t let them in. The food and service was excellent, but sadly, we won t be back.

What was one of my favourite bars in Sydney is no more. Unfortunately the atmosphere has declined as has the staff and service, although the food is still good. What was once an intimate space to meet after work has been ruined in the name of passing foot traffic from the new metro. Half the bar can no longer be enjoyed with the door to the street constantly being opened. I suspect the restaurant is not doing well and are desperate to attract anyone. Well they have lost me and after more than 10 years I will now find another bar to enjoy.

Outstanding experience all around...food server wine service cocktails...everything. We will be back (probably more than once) while in Sydney.

It was delicious, I really like the salads. It was very clean, the desserts were quite a lots .

What struck me was watching all of the staff actually ENJOYING their job....smiles, laughter, and clearly a love affair with food. Thank you from the bottom to the top, Bella to Dane, and everyone in between. Amazing.

I delicious meal in a stunning venue but the service detracted from the experience. It was also disappointing to find that the Sunday menu was reduced (especially as two dishes we were planning on having were not available) plus reduced staff but including a 10% surcharge for Sunday dining.

Excellent service and staff. Good location. The food is good but a bit pricey.

Gave Rockpool 2 stars for the food but thats where it stops. Was there for a birthday dinner. First made to wait for our reserved table to free up in the bar where tables were full of uncleared glasses. Once seated, we waited for 20 minutes with only a food menu and no drinks menu and no service, not even to enquireabout a drink. The wine list never arrived BTW. When we finally ate, the food was brilliant. Really disappointed as it was a special occasion but we would have got better service at the pub. When youre charging those prices you have a minimum expectation and that wasnt met.

I am a little late with this review. I visited this restaurant with a friend shortly after a devastating personal experience. We just happened to have booked this restaurant in the same week. While the food was amazing, the staff were incredibly professional, empathetic and respectful. They probably dont know we noticed but we did and it is the story we tell of this wonderful restaurant.

Excellent all round, but in particular the service was fantastic. We were asked several times (politely, not in an annoying way) about our meal, and when asked about my wine - which was not what I had asked for the waiter responded in a very professional manner and changed it to the one initially requested. Also it s nice to not be interrupted mid conversation by service. They were very careful to be respectful of us during our dinner. Looking forward to the next dinner there for sure.

Average on all fronts and my partner felt sick after meal. Despite noting my pescaterian dietary requirements both on the booking and at time of ordering, I still received a beef dish which was quite upsetting. I haven t eaten meat in over 10 years and didn t intend on starting at Rockpool. Noting, they did offer scallops to smooth things over. My partner s steak was also lacking in flavour despite being touted as one of the picks of the bunch. Rockpool puts a lot of emphasis on guest etiquette: we get a reminder on dress code in the confirmation text and the first page of the menu is guest rules. That s fine as long as they uphold their end of the bargain and offer an incredible experience. Would book elsewhere to experience Sydney s fine dining scene.

The food was on point, the restaurant was very elegant. The service was very good.

I recently dined at Rockpool and Bar and ordered a rib eye with the bone, along with a minute fillet. Unfortunately, I couldn t finish my meal, so I had half of the rib eye left and the minute fillet untouched. I asked to have the leftovers packed together. However, when I got home and opened the box, I found that the rib eye was missing. This was quite disappointing, especially considering the price of the meal. Its frustrating to pay for food and not receive all of it. I expected better attention to detail and service, given the restaurants reputation.

The decoration is good. However the food taste worse than before. I order a wagyu and eye of chuck on medium rare yet the steak were nearly raw. Just like only the side of the steak was cooked. Inside got nothing change. Moreover, I have other fries and comes in chips.Really disappointed, I have come here several times. But this time was the worst experience ever.

Ok so probably one of the people rating this realistically. Look I had the rump steak with bone for $95 Whilst the steak was cooked well it was not seasoned well and the only thing you got was a piece of meat on your plate. Service was horrible. Servers were just reaching out across the table inconsiderate of what the guest were doing interrupting conversations and I. General no consideration for guest. Multiple times the wrong orders were brought to our table and when the food was served it was server for a few members and the a wai for other to get served. Look tbh overall much much better value to be had elsewhere. This place is only surviving I. Its reputation.

Celebrated my husbands 60th birthday last night with our two teenage daughters. We all had different meals, lobster, steak, pasta and lamb chops. Every dish was divine. Service was the best Ive ever had in Sydney and the restaurant is beautiful. Thank you Rockpool.

Very underwhelming experience. Food lacked flavour and my steak was not cooked to my request. Despite the staff being friendly, the waiters were too loud when handling the plates and cutlery between serving and collecting. Wouldn t recommend dining here. Food

My partner treated me to a birthday dinner here. The food and service is as youd expect from a fine dining establishment. I would definitely recommend the potato puree with the steak. She did break up with me at the end of the night but apart from that the experience was enjoyable and I would visit again.

The environment at Rockpool Bar & Grill Sydney is upscale and inviting. The steak was cooked well, but the sides were lacking in flavor. Service was competent, though the bill seemed a bit high for the meal.

Food: the portions of starters are way too small. Steaks are great. 5/5. Desserts are way too sweet. Drinks are quite good. Decent wine list. Very bad service. We waited for 30 mins between finishing our main dish and someone giving us the dessert menu. It took another 30 mins for us to wait for a waiter for the bill. Finally we just walked to the reception desk to ask for the bill. Not recommend. For the same buck, you can have equally decent steak and much better starters, desserts, and service at places like 6 Head or Bistecca.

Last night, I had an enjoyable evening with friends at Rockpool. The seafood and steak were both exceptional, the pearl meat truly stood out as a highlight absolutely stunning! As always, the service was impeccable, making the entire experience even more delightful. Highly recommend!

Im really enjoy the luch moment with Rockpool,Staf very nice and helpful.everything was nice and more than my expect Octopus is the best ingredients on the Sydney,I been try a different restraurant in the town,but no one is better than Eockpool,very good taste. Pearl Meat is nice,smel like my hometown soy sauce ,but not strong,good control. Pasta is very good,it is completely different from other restaurants, not overly salty,I can taste the original umami of the bay bugs. Staek is good,but im the first time try dry aged grass fed,I can tast really stong . Warm Rhubarb and Strawberry pudding with Vanilla Sauce,Im Strawberry lovers,so its my first try Rhubarb wow,excellent. Overyall,worlds 101 BEST steak restaurant is deserved it.should try! We can say that we were disappointed with some of our meals. My duck dish was amazing but my husband rump steak was not tender as it should be for the price we paid.

We made the journey into Sydney for the degustation as a celebration of our anniversary. The food was incredible; the service was attentive and engaging without being overbearing; and the matched wines enhanced every dish. An incredible experience and a memory that we ll cherish forever.

Memorable experience of fine dining. Ambience, decor, and architectural design delivers a warm charm. Jonathan, our waiter, was exceptionally well versed with the menu, and his recommendations were spot on. You eat with your eyes, but well satisfied in the belly. Highly recommend for you to try it for yourself!

We booked a table for two at 6pm. Everything was good until the waiter threw the bill on our table at 8pm, saying its been 2 hours now. It was my partner s birthday, and this waiter just completely ruined our day. I understand the restaurant has a two-hour limit, but the dessert itself took about 20 minutes to come. And I don t want to assume, I just share what I have seen: the group sitting next to us, who had arrived earlier, wasn t asked to leave and continued to enjoy their meal. When we were asked to leave, they were still happily eating, chatting, and drinking. Is that because we re two foreign girls so we were treated differently?

We booked a table for two at 6pm. At 8pm, the waiter brought us the bill and informed us of the two-hour limit, which we understand. However, our dessert took about 20 minutes to arrive, making us feel rushed, especially since it was my partner s birthday. We also noticed that another group, who had been there longer, was not asked to leave. Initially, I thought it was because they were a larger group, but the confirmation email stated that all reservations are for a period of two hours. After being informed and paying the bill, I felt uncomfortable and embarrassed, fearing someone would come and force us to leave. We hurriedly finished our drinks and dessert, but seeing the next table happily chatting and drinking felt inconsistent and unfair. My partner even had to hold her little birthday cupcake and finish it on the street because there was no time to finish before we left. She was almost crying on our way home, asking why we have to be treated like this, especially on her birthday. The whole experience was traumatic. Overall, it was a disappointing experience on what should have been a special occasion.

Food and service were fantastic. I got the wagyu skirt and my wife got the wagyu blade. The blade was phenomenal and the skirt was very good. I would get the blade if we were to go back as the aging and cook was to perfection. The sides were also good; we recommend the charred artichokes. We also got the bone marrow and scallop appetizers. The bone marrow was very rich and delicious and the scallop, while very good, I would not purchase again (scallops were a bit muted by other ingredients, but were beautifully presented). Ambiance was very nice, and all of the servers were extremely professional, helpful, and on the ball for filling empty glasses. Great dining experience!

We chose this restaurant because we are steak-lovers and because it ranks No. 8 on the top 100 steak restaurants in the world. It did not disappoint! The restaurant is enormous and spans several rooms in an early 20th century building. Atmosphere seems formal, but actually turns out quite relaxed. The menu is quintessential Steak! A large range of cuts, origins and styles.. wagyu and dry-aging are key features. The staff are highly knowledgeable, and will make great recommendations. The wine list is impressive, covering a wonderfully cellared range of wines from all over the world. The sommelier will guide you to make the perfect choice and will then serve the wine perfectly. We started with fresh oysters and beef carpaccio on artisan bread, toasted lightly. We also shared a beautiful marrow shin bone as a starter. We chose Tasmanian filet and ribeye on the bone carefully dry-aged. Both served between rare and medium-rare, with delicious Bearnaise Sauce, and a side of Japanese pumpkin and sweet potato. This was accompanied by the fine 2018 Comtesse , from Chateau Pichon Comtesse de Lalande. We finished this wonderful dinner with warm rhubarb and strawberry pudding served with the delightful Pillitteri ice wine from Niagra on the lakes, Ontario, Canada. A perfect combination!

The dining room is one of the most beautiful in the world, the food s solid, the wine list is incredible and the service professional. Ordering a burger in the bar is also one of the great bargains of high-end dining in Sydney.

Went there for my wifes birthday. A very pleasant dinning experience. The food is delicious. Highly recommended the Wagyu ox tail.

Rockpool showed why they are among the best dining experiences in Sydney. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was impressive, leaning on great quality ingredients. The steak was incredible. We indulged with a high end wagyu and a normal cut and both were incredible. The wood fire grilled cabbage and guanciale side dish was a surprising highlight for me. The sides were generous so Id resist the urge to get more than two in the future.

Decent food, chips crispy, steak okay, cabbage flavourful. Service was nice at the time of visit. Drinks pretty average.

The food and ambiance at this location were top-notch, and its clear how the exceptional cuisine has elevated the restaurant to one of the top steakhouses in the world. However, I may be spoiled by the standards in Texas, but I expected better service and recognition of the two occasions we were there to celebrate my doctoral degree and our anniversary. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a brief I see youre celebrating something. Congrats but that was the extent of the acknowledgment. No server or manager mentioned it again, which I found disappointing. Why ask if we were celebrating something if nothing would be done for it? Additionally, when I requested to speak to a manager for a brief history of the restaurant and its accolades, our server insisted she could handle it and that a manager wasnt necessary. Overall, the steaks, sides, and wine were delicious 5 out of 5 stars for the food. However, everything else makes this just another establishment on the list.

Despite the ornate interiors and quality of the food, the service will spoil any enjoyment. Dont risk your evening to kids too cool for school.

Incredible food, unbeatable service and the building is so beautiful! The best place to have a special dinner. We were seated on the balcony which was much more intimate and quiet than the hustle and bustle of the downstairs main dining area (but just shows how popular and respected this restaurant is). Couldnt fault a single thing. Do not skip out on a Denver steak and a Devils Food Cupcake!!

Steak was nice, but the desert was way under expected, I also overheard the waitress was trying to put the exact same dessert to 3 different tables (explaining was the last serve she got left. )after we got ours.

Food is always reliably good. Service is good but being served by multiple servers takes away from the individual attention - still good though. Drinks are very exe - or maybe it is just our taste. We have kept going there after a bad experience and they have more than made up for it. Really recommend Rockpool , Sydney

Perfect meal, perfect service, perfect experience. No need to fight for a reservation at Firedoor with Rockpool around the corner and better in every single respect. I especially appreciated the waitress advising us to order a cheaper, smaller (but still absolutely incredible) cut of steak than we initially wanted to avoid getting too much food. She easily could have just taken our money and kept her mouth shut. And price-wise, it s not cheap but I felt like it was more than reasonably priced for what we got, both in terms of quantity and quality. I ve paid much more for much worse in other Sydney fine dining institutions. I can t wait to go back.

Decided to pop into the bar for a couple drinks and a lite meal. Was looking forward to their wagyu burger. The prawn cutlet while tasty was not worth the $14 each for one prawn. The Empanadas were delicious with super crisp coating and superb pebre sauce. The burger was a solid miss, was barely warm, hard dry patty with super chunky pickled onion. For wagyu this is pretty disappointing. While appearance was good it was overdone and the bun itself wasnt fresh. Did provide this feedback to the waiter. The hot chips however were divine. Would return just for the chips and skip the rest. Price for 2 burgers, snacks and a cocktail each was $100.

We came here for lunch and the service was slow, we had to call for someone twice and I wouldn t say they had an overly helpful demeanour about them. The food itself was average, still nice but not worth the price. I enjoyed the salads, but the pork ribs was also too much for one person.

My favourite restaurant in Sydney! I always order their goat cheese tortellini, its literally a burst of flavour in mouth. Another reason why I love coming here is because of Benny, her customer service is topnotch! Most amazing and classiest server Ive ever met. Thank you Benny!

Generally was a pleasant experience with the exception of the scotch steak I ordered. Steak was sinewy and clearly not butchered to an acceptable standard.

Service and ambiance here are excellent! The scallops was great! The steak was average. The baked macaroni with cheese was super delicious.

We have eaten here many times before, but tonight tried the degustation menu as we had been excited to see this was something now offered at Rockpool. My partner can be picky at times, however always goes into a degustation open minded. Tonight there was not one thing he didn t like or wasn t impressed by. Absolutely everything on the menu was creative, delicious and left you wanting more. The portions were also generous, not a degustation where you leave hungry by any means. The service was amazing, it always is, but even moreso in this intimate dining setting. Will be recommending this to everyone!

I would have to say the experience we had at Rockpool was a huge disappointment. We ordered one wagyu sirloins on the bone and two Cape Grim 79 days aged dry ribeyes on the bone. Wagyu was fine but the two Medium Rare rib eyes (2nd photo) were absolutely terrible. They were full of very chewy fat (yes I usually like a good fatty steak but this is not what I want to eat). I had to cut half of the steak out because it was way too chewy. I would have cooked a better steak on the BBQ than this, trust me. The service was pretty ordinary as well. We had to rudely give the waiter signal that our wine glasses had been empty for more than 10mins. Finally we got the attention of the waiter. After pouring the wine he decided to leave the wine bottle on our table so he would be able to mind his own business somewhere else - Great service if I were having a $30 steak at a pub. Would I go back to Rockpool again?! Hell no.

I had an amazing birthday at Rockpool Bar and Grill! The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was fantastic. A big thank you to the manager, Anthony, for ensuring everything was perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience!

Amazing food in a beautiful vintage high ceiling venue - all the entrees were amazing with a special call out to the prawns, they were so succulent and plump with great flavour. The steaks were also cooked to perfection and so juicy and easy to eat. Perhaps the most underrated dish was the Morton bag pasta noodles, it was cooked to perfection and had a delicious tangy flavour that made it so enjoyable. Would definitely come back to this institution of Sydney soon!

A very nice dining experience. The food was very well executed; it is one of the very few places in Sydney that hasnt left me disappointed with a steak I have ordered. We had the skirt, which I highly recommend for its flavour. And at MS9+, its still lovely and tender. If you are here for a steak, they pull it off well. Cooked over woodfire, it was well seasoned and had a good sear. It was arguably served rare, despite ordering medium rare, but they do check the steak is cooked to your likeness, and for us the difference was not a big deal. We also enjoyed the bone marrow with rare beef on toast (my favourite dish of the night), and the yellowfin tuna and Jerusalem artichokes were also nice dishes. I would say that overall, the menu was perhaps a touch on the unimaginative for my tastes. A more generous description would be classic, perhaps. Also, the menu is massive. I really felt like a set menu on offer would best guide diners through their extensive offerings. But the food was great, and the service was some of the best Ive had in any fine dining restaurant.

The bar staff know how to make a cocktail and great wine list for any taste. Passionfruit marshmallows are also too hard to pass up. To be honest, Iv already heard this resturants reputation, so I booked early and came here, expected to enjoy tonight s meals.However, its below expectation too much. There is no doubt that food is good and yummy. But the service of this restaurant is pretty bad, the reasons are following 1.Some waiters there are untrained, they will even give you a glance with anger if you request to change someting they do for you 2.The response of this restaurant need be improved.If you just want to such as having a top-up and waiters will say ok and then no reaction even make an apology to you like: sorry, we are busy now you maybe wait for a long time. But you may wait longer, the reason said by their manager was they need service others. 3.The way of pouring wine of their waiters are not professional enough if you are a wine lover or have a high demand about wine sorber-up. 4.The manager there today is also not professional, in my feeling, she always maintain their staffs instead of ignoring customers feeling, she need management training. when this restaurant gets busy, and something may react slower, she said like this: some of my staff are sick, so less employees ok, give a good customer service or should wait longer because of less staff, you choose the last one, fine Finally, when I finished my meals, I ask one of their staff was this restaurant awarded michelin star? she said no. I hadn t been to this place in a very long time. Been going to rockpool since the early days when the restaurant was in the rocks. I was slightly underwhelmed tonight. Staff are lovely here and very friendly and helpful. Service is prompt and the food arrived pretty quickly. Loved the oysters of the day and the bread was also quite ok. My steak was cooked very well but it was way too over seasoned. I like salt but this was a tad too salty for me. The cut was also a tiny bit too fatty which I don t like. The sides were nice and the potatoes in Wagyu fat were tasty but once again a tiny bit too salty. The dessert of peaches was also lovely. Good wine list but far too expensive for what you get. The food is not cheap either so I expected a bit more care for a $95 steak. When you command such prices I expect perfection. It s a far cry from the rockpool I knew and needs a bit more creativity in the menu. That s what I used to love about this place. As a steakhouse and grill it left a bit to be desired for me. Over seasoned food takes the fun out of a meal.

Wonderful service and a beautiful building to have a dinner. The high ceilings and interior provide a luxurious feel. We arrived a little early before opening and was able to enjoy a cocktail during happy hour then escorted to our table later. We were quite indecisive about the steak so we were shown the steak from the kitchen which was much more comprehendible and the sides were delicious. We did eat slow so and ate over our 2 hour limit and was kindly asked if we were interested in dessert at the bar but we were stuffed! Great date night, or luxury dinner with guests or the family

Scallops and sausages were flavourful, and so were the chips/mixed green/pumpkin sides. Fried calamari and steak (David Blackmore s Blade 240g) were pretty average. Cocktails were delicious, and loved the extensive wine list!

This restaurant is overrated. The service is clinical, the sommelier gave a mediocre recommendation, the desserts were unimaginative. The food quality was good but the dishes lacked heart. The bathroom was drab. And we were asked to pay $10 each for flat water - tap water was never given as an option as it is in other restaurants.

The service in this place is amazing, no sooner have you emptied your water glass will a waiter come by to refill it instantaneously, as if they were watching you like a hawk. You will also have the chance to eavesdrop on some very interesting conversations and business talk. The food however, was disappointing for the price point demanded of this establishment. Similar quality steaks and sides can be found elsewhere at a much more competitive pricing range.

If you re craving a nice fancy steak and happy to pay top dollar for it then this is your place. Cocktail was delicious but not so nicely presented. Service was impeccable.

Why do they have a dress code and yet they allow girls with baseball hats , singlets sandals runners and frayed shorts if you have a dress code please stick to it. The patrons look appalling. The cocktails, masterfully crafted, added a perfect touch. A visit to Rockpool is not just a yes, but an unequivocal triple affirmation of excellence.

Loved the Art Deco decor, wonderful service and quality ingredients here. DH said the steak was the best he ever had. Wonderful, cozy bar. The service was a bit psychic, the waitstaff overheard us talking about someones birthday, and they sent a lovely cupcake over to celebrate. Nice touch.

Used to love coming here but sadly my experience today left a bit of an after taste in my mouth We were not made to feel welcome once we asked if they were doing the $29 burgers, chips and drink offer honestly why advertise the offer online if you really don t want people to choose it?! They got the order wrong a colleague ordered steak and was brought a burger Additionally I asked for a Diet Coke but was brought a regular Coke which when questioned I was told they don t do Diet Coke even though the person next to me was given Coke Zero I mean join up the dots, or clarify at the time of the order The burger patty itself was compacted and hard and my colleague advised the steak was somewhat chewy

Impeccable service, classy venue, a refreshingly unpretentious menu (with both classic and more adventurous options to choose from) and an impressive wine and spirits list that s thicker than a phonebook! The consistently excellent food, charming staff and thoughtful touches make it one of our all-time favourite restaurants worldwide. We enjoyed perfectly cooked lamb and eye of chuck with a spectacular side of cheesy mac and crispy fat cut chips. And that rhubarb pudding? Absolutely divine. I ll be dreaming about it until the next time we visit!

The EXTREMELY BAD experience in this restaurant! Who gives them the highest rank?! Pay money to buy the rank?! It is so hard to describe how bad they are! The staff is unhelpful and seems like unwelcoming and seems like asking customers to order less and then the staff can work less to get the pay! Where is the management? OLD building - no atmosphere. Please go to the other grill restaurant for beef. Customers can enjoy the service, nice food and welcoming service. Highly recommend 6 heads, black and Porteno .. For food, it is average level. It s all okay but nothing incredible. For this kind of food level and price, customers have more choice to dine in other restaurants, such as the above. So shame for me to choose this kind of restaurant for my friends celebration. OMG! TERRIBLE!

Grand entrance with massive dining hall. Their selection of wine was also great, but steak is rather overrated-was good though. The premeal bread was cold and chewy (honestly below average quality & all four of us on the table didn t finish) and I feel these premeal bread should be served at least warm, not cold & hard; as this is the start of the dining experience. I believe a proper fine dining never miss little details like this and it was quite disappointing with the $$$$ I paid.

Went for a birthday celebration. Staff really made us feel special. Food was also delicious - and there was a lot of variety too! The open kitchen was very cool to watch and the interior decoration was really nice. I would love to go to Rockpool Bar and Grill again.

I met a group of friends to use the bar and found the experience to be quite bad. The service was slow, to be honest they really avoided us, I felt inconvenient, which is unusual for services in Sydney. Our bill was wrong and the staff suggested was our fault. Snacks were ok and because the drinks took so long we often thought about looking for another place. Normally I dont care about the service, or the place Im sitting, but I felt terrible, disrespected and poorly treated. A very dear friend recommended the place, as they were often meeting friends for work meetings, but Im sure they were never treated the same way.

Nice atmosphere, but the service was not good! It was very difficult to be served, we had to call several times until someone come to take drink orders, at times we were attended by Leonardo who, frankly, shouldnt be working in hospitality, he made us feel uncomfortable and was very unpleasant in all his interactions with us. I liked the place but I wouldnt go back because I wouldnt want to be served by him. The service needs to be faster and friendly

I chose the dishes after listening to the service staffs humorous explanations. I didnt understand English well, so my daughter answered the questions, but we were able to enjoy the meal thanks to the comforting reception. It was a memorable restaurant when I came to Sydney. I definitely want to come back when I visit Sydney again.

5 stars, as is to be expected given the reputation - Rockpool did not disappoint! Hubby ordered the most expensive steak and said it was well worthwhile. We will be back!

I made a reservation online and went for a weekday dinner. Attire is smart casual. I went dressed reasonably well, but some people actually wore T-shirts and sneakers. It doesnt seem like the rules are that strict. There was a doorman at the entrance who guided us smoothly. I was very grateful for your kindness even though my English was poor. The food was delicious, there was a wide selection of wines, and we had a great time! The meat is of course delicious, but the goat cheese tortellini is also highly recommended. It goes perfectly with red wine! As a Japanese person, I didnt feel that the portions per plate were that large, but we enjoyed sharing the food. The waiters also give you plates to share. This is one of the restaurants I would like to visit again when I go to Sydney.

Very disappointing evening. Food is average and service is poor. Asked for a breadbasket and we were given a single slice of bread each about the half the size of a regular slice. I asked for a basket and said I don t mind paying be but we were given another pathetic slice - when we were able to get a waiters attention. Ordered 3 entrees to share - wrong one arrived to the table and they took our share plates away. Then later 2 out of 3 of the correct entrees came but we had no plates to eat from, as they had taken everything away when they got it wrong the first time round. The third entree came sometime later. The waiter came over and apologised and said that he would take it off our bill. It was unclear who our waiter was, as we had a different person come to the table each time. We ordered a beer when our mains arrived, but after waiting 20 minutes and asking three other people where it is, it then arrived as we were finishing our food and were told the keg needed changing. We asked about the beer three times in those 20 minutes and no one mentioned anything about a keg being changed - if we d of known that we would ve ordered something else. Although the steaks were nice they were nothing special and it was on par with High Street chain restaurants. We then ordered a desert each, but whilst my Pavlova became, it took a good 15 minutes for the other desert to arrive. By which point I had finished the Pavlova and my husband decided to get his desert takeaway. He had mentioned when booking it was my birthday, and we told the girl on the door when she asked if we were celebrating an occasion yet nothing was done to acknowledge that it was a special occasion. No candle. No happy birthday. Nothing. we asked for the bill and a runner came over with the card machine in a hurry get us out of the restaurant. We had only had about 30 seconds to look at the bill and then we realised the entree that we were told would be taken off was still on there and we had been charged $20 for two glasses of sparkling water which is outrageous. Waiter informed us that this was the correct pricing as it is $10 per person. This was not explained to us and it s ridiculous. Having our night ruined, we left with our takeaway desert. The bill was around $500 and it was an absolute waste of money. The service really ruined everything for us and it was supposed to be a special night. Ironically, I ve had the best experience of my life at Rockpool Melbourne and the worst in Sydney. I was asked to review the restaurant and the next day I was contacted by the assistant manager manager who said he would give me a call in the next few days to figure out what went wrong, but here we are a week later and we have had no contact. In a city where you are spoilt for choices, go and spend your money somewhere else! Having spoken to friends and colleagues, they all agree that the restaurant has very much gone downhill. Wish I knew this before we booked as it was supposed to be the highlight of my birthday .
