At The Sanderson, we believe that dining is more than just a meal; it’s an experience. Step into The Sanderson and indulge in an unforgettable dining experience, celebrating life’s greatest milestones with an elaborate sense of occasion. Our restaurant offers warmth and approachable luxury in every detail, from the tenacious service of our staff to the decadence and personalisation of our menus. At The Sanderson, we embrace a modern approach to food that celebrates quality Australian produce with an emphasis on creativity, playfulness, intentionality and nostalgia across our à la carte and special occasions menus.
Had an amazing time at the Sanderson. I tried their oysters and caviar bump, which was quite the unique experience. They had a special for Australian Wagyu, which was well priced, perfectly cooked to my taste, and had amazing sides to select from next to it. Their drink selection was also superb, I tried two cocktails, both of which were amazing. And an Australian Shiraz. The staff was incredibly friendly as well. Amazing experience
Outstanding food and drinks, in a beautiful venue with exemplary service!!! A special shout out to Solomon for his incredible knowledge, his engaging personality & making a milestone birthday dinner for a dear friend unforgettable!!! Thanks for going over & above!!! I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking to celebrate a memorable occasion!!!
The Sanderson restaurant offers an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. From the moment we were seated, the attentive service made us feel welcome. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect, starting with a thoughtful touch—a complimentary shot that set the tone for the meal. The food was simply outstanding, with every dish bursting with flavour, in particular the Tomahawk Steak. We particularly enjoyed choosing our own steak knife, which added a personalised touch to an already memorable evening. The relaxed and inviting atmosphere allowed us to savour every moment, making it the perfect spot for a special occasion or a casual night out. The Sanderson is a true gem.
We enjoyed a rare opportunity to sample the chef's selection recently at the Sanderson AND take along our own bottle of wine with no corkage fee as every Thursday they allow you to BYO. Some fine dining restaurants in Sydney won't allow this, but most of us have a very special bottle of wine tucked away for a special occasion, and this was one of those occasions. Service was outstanding and very personal, which put us at ease, and we sampled a range of fabulous food. An added bonus is the Gueridon service... some items are prepared at your table, which adds a nice touch of theatre. The Chef's selection we chose included Caviar bump, Sydney rock oysters, Kingfish taco, gnocchi with fresh seasonal grated local black truffle, outrageously good potato rösti and dry aged duck which was superbly prepared. Servings were abundant, and we simply could not attempt the Bombe Alaska we had planned to share to finish the meal. I recommend the Sanderson for an indulgent long lunch or an intimate dinner. It's very luxurious, and has the feel of a private club without the pretentiousness that sometimes accompanies such rarefied environments. Perhaps the ultimate date night destination?
Ok I have never in my life received service as extra as at this place, it was infallible! My sister and I were guided inside by the doorman as we came down the alleyway (much appreciated) and each of the staff that served us were so personable which made for a really relaxed and genuinely fun dining experience. The celebratory shot and poem to kick things off was so funny and unexpected, then came the hot scented towel to refresh ourselves (the waiter was very gracious in giving me instructions on what to do with it, we all giggled at my apparent lack of poshness). The food itself was delicious and served beautifully, as were the cocktails, and I was constantly admiring the details of the beautiful room. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into curating a memorable experience from start to finish, and I was honestly blown away by it. P.s. the handwritten (!!) pop up birthday card and bespoke gift box with the keyring was like adding an extra fifty cherries to the already cherry on top experience we had. I love this place. 11/10.
Loved celebrating my birthday here! Upscale restaurant with a quiet but luxurious atmosphere. Staff were lovely and attentive! They gave us a free drink in a cow-shaped shot glass at the beginning of our meal (also non-alcoholic version available) which was so tasty and they change the flavour every now and then. The bone marrow and the wagyu scotch fillet were most memorable. Also they let us select our own knife to eat our steaks with which was a fun little detail. They had some creative and interesting cocktails too. At the end of our dinner they gave me a pop-up card and a little knife-shaped bottle opener as a mini present 🥰 EDIT: I returned here to celebrate my anniversary and somehow they blew me away even more than last time. Our lovely waiter Sol gave us the best recommendations - the dry aged duck was divine - the best duck I’ve ever had. And the popcorn dessert was so addictive we almost ordered a second one! I’ll be bringing my family here to celebrate Christmas - this might be my favourite restaurant in Sydney!
Beautiful classic restaurant! It feels like a mysterious and inviting atmosphere the moment you step in. Places like this make you want to come back. You are greeted with an in-house liquor shot that's absolutely delicious (a non-alcoholic shot is also available). You get to choose your own bespoke steak knife. Staff are incredibly friendly and attentive! Delicious, tasty, and fresh produce meals are to die for. We enjoyed all the meals! Great menu! The cocktails have some theatre about them and are beautifully/perfectly mixed. With celebrating a birthday, we were gifted a personal card and a little axe. That made it even more special as we weren't expecting for that to happen! Thank you to the staff as they are absolutely fantastic! We will be back again! 🍽
By far one of the best dinners I've had in a very long time. I was very apprehensive to book as I had never been and it was a dinner for my Mums birthday. It exceeded all my expectations. The service was old school, the food was presented beautifully and tasted amazing. The drinks were some of the best I have ever had. All in all it was a wonderful night that we won't forget for a long time. We'll done!! We can't wait to visit again.
This was a worthwhile dining experience. I highly recommend the signature land set menu. This option gives you a great insight into the venue s well known dishes. The cocktails were delightful as well. The service was on point. I also recommend booking the booth window seats. These would have to be the best seats. However, the entire ambience of this establishment is actually quite nice.
Had a business lunch here and our clients loved this place, the food and the whole experience was wonderful.
We cannot rate this restaurant highly enough: the food was amazing - perfectly cooked and beautifully presented; the service was excellent - the staff were all knowledgeable, helpful and attentive without being obsequious; and the interior design was characterful and grand but still being comfortable and relaxed.
I rarely go back to the same restaurant but this is going to be a regular. 2nd time around, still the same incredible attention to detail. Not just on the delicious food or the clever drinks, but on everything - the hospitality as well as the showmanship are a 10/10. They manage to elevate what you expect it to be a very nice dinner into an extraordinary experience. The oysters are incredible, so is the potato rosti and the steak. But DO NOT leave without trying the popcorn x popcorn x popcorn dessert. I really couldnt recommend this enough. An all time favourite. Great job everyone involved in making this restaurant experience what it is
Everything was fantastic! Loved it all!
Niche place with quality food and service
First time dining at the Sanderson with a few friends and within 15mins we knew we would visit again. Loved that the surprised the guest with gestures uplifting the dining experience. Steak was amazing, the side potatoes were the best I ever had. We noted a friend s birthday in the reservation and they surprised the birthday with a gift and hand written hard. It was epic. Will be back for sure.
Mixed feelings about this restaurant. Weve been 3 times. The first time was not long after it opened. We had an appalling first impression because on arrival we stood for about 7 minutes in a queue at reception before anyone even greeted us, only to find our table which we booked was not ready. We were told it would just be a few minutes but we waited a full 15 minutes before we were seated. The waiter worked hard to make up for it, so points for that. The food generally we have found is quite good. It is very pricey and the serving sizes are very small, so like many nice restaurants in Sydney now, the value for money is poor. The bar does not seem to stock many options for anyone wanting a sweet cocktail or sweet drink. They really need to work on that. And the most recent time we went, the waiter was very gracious and courteous but he just kept coming back again and again with new information or to check the order or to ask how things were. Like he visited our table over a dozen times across the course of the meal, mostly without us calling him, which was just way too much and really unnecessary. We felt like he wanted us to invite him to dine with us he was so all over us. So while we respect he was trying to do a good job, it was over the top and didnt strike the right balance. Anyway, its not a bad place, they just need to tweak a few things to get them right. If you are going to pay big money to eat out at a nice place, all those little things need to be on point, otherwise you are left thinking there are better places to go for that price.
Had a great experience at The Sanderson the group had a truly memorable time. The food was fantastic, and a big thanks to your friendly staff, Tania, Eric, and the team!
Fancy!
Good food but no value for money
Exceptional service.
Thank you for the delicious food and memorable service. Special thanks to the host and Soloman!
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS
Number one steak has in town I really don t know anyone that would be able beat this restaurant
Perfect place food is amazing staff are perfect thank you for a wonderful night will be back again
We booked in to celebrate our 25th anniversary along with my wifes birthday, the experience was amazing from start to finish. We will definitely be back the next time we visit Sydney.
I had a wonderful experience dining at The Sanderson Sydney with my friends and overall 5 star for me. Food is great and service
The food was pretty good - especially the appetisers. The service was excellent and the room was well designed with comfortable seating and big tables. The wole experience was let down by the strident background music: exceptionally annoying. I am so tired of restaurants imposing music which is totally innapropriate for the occasion and in decibels that make normal conversation barley possible.
I recently dined at Sanderson Restaurant for lunch, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between cozy and sophisticated, making it a great spot for both intimate dinners and special occasions. The service was top-notch, and a special thanks to Solomon, who was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. He made sure our every need was met without being intrusive, which greatly enhanced the overall dining experience. As for the food, it was outstanding. Every dish was crafted with precision and attention to detail, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The ingredients were clearly fresh, and the menu offered a variety of options catering to different tastes and dietary needs. In particular, the prawn toast was a highlight fresh, flavourful. Overall, Sanderson Restaurant offers a memorable dining experience with its fantastic food, excellent service, and inviting atmosphere. I highly recommend it, and I will definitely be returning!
Amazing food.
Exceptional food, wine and service! Already booked in to come back
One of the best dinners I ve ever had, from the service to the food to the vibe as a whole, beautiful art on the wall, a nice, almost reminiscent of a speakeasy design, the service was top tier and the food was nothing short of amazing, may have over ordered by the smallest amount but hey, happy to have leftovers from this place 10/10 highly recommend.
This place is such a vibe! Tanya the host did the absolute most as a photographer and all round great hostess. The staff were very attentive and the food was amazing! I highly recommend the lobster mafaldine and bone marrow.
We went to the Sanderson last night. There was 4 of us and we loved everything about this place. The food was to die for. I could not fault it. We tried a large selection off the menu and everything was 10 out of 10. I loved the crab salad and the stake was one of the best Ive had. I couldnt fault the service and the place itself had a cool atmosphere. We were treated like family and we cant wait for another occasion so we can return. I informed them that it was my friends birthday when we booked and they made her feel awesome on her special day.
The Sanderson provided an amazing experience! Everything from the service, the atmosphere and the food was praiseworthy. I can t wait to go back again and try their other dishes too. Highly recommend The Sanderson.
Beautiful setting , wonderful service & amazing food . Thank you for making our sons 18th Birthday so wonderful Food
Exceptional dining experience! We were with a large group and had a set menu that was excellent, but the dessert truly blew me away popcorn vanilla cake, green apple, and brown butter! It should win an award! Great service and excellent wines.
Wow! That s all I can start with. This was our highlight of our Sydney trip. Talk about being taken on an experience! From the moment you arrive the staff are all only too friendly and wanting you to have the best experience. You get to choose your own knife for dinner! I asked the waitress to surprise me and boy am I glad I asked that. The entree of prawn on toast - OMG delicious! And steak for dinner with a miso and garlic sauce - just OMG again. We also ordered a bottle of wine. Not once did we ask for a top up, the staff would just wonder past and top it up unannounced. Afterwards the staff escorted us down the lift to their bar where we were treated again to 6 service and check out the cocktail the wife received. Anyway, you really get where I m going here with this post. It s not cheap, but it s one experience that you will never forget! Trust me. To be completely honest we actually feel this has been our best restaurant we ve ever been too - and yes that s a massive call! Our first rating for sure! Thank you to all the wonderful staff and chefs you guys really go above and beyond and made our night and our trip! We can t wait to see you all again! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options Wheelchair accessibility: Lift to the restaurant
One of Sydneys Best Fine Dinning Restaurants.... Service is amazing, Food so good you will be wanting to go back the next day
Exceptional service from the moment you walk into the restaurant. Attention to detail, food was spot on and highly recommended place to put on your to do list
The steak was delicious, the service was great and the atmosphere was cosy.
Some of the best service and food
Everything was absolutely incredible! I went there for dinner last night, and even though Ive been part of the team for just over a year, I was still impressed by the excellent quality of the food and the exceptional service. A sincere thank you to Chef James, Chef Kelvin, and the entire team for making this experience unforgettable!
Excellent service by soloman. The staff were very attentive and food was great as well. Great cocktail choices and had a great time.
My wife and I had a great experience, the food was scrumptious and the atmosphere was very inviting. The staff were amazing, polite and happy and attentive at all times. Thank you for your hospitality and for the cute gift and for making our anniversary very special, we will definitely see you again in the near future and recommend your venue to our family and friends.
One of the best restaurants in Sydney!! The truffle gnocchi melts in your mouth and their stuffed chicken was so juicy! And they gave a cute pop cup card and an adorable cheese knife after dinner ~ the service was one of the best, thanks for the great experience!
Fantastic service! Can t thank the team enough for making us feel so comfortable a special. The food was beautiful. Thoroughly enjoyed. Definitely going back.
Have been here 3 or 4 times now and the experience is consistently outstanding. Some of the best steak I have ever tried, and I have tried a lot. The sides are really worth a visit on their own. The atmosphere, especially when it is really busy is perfect and you would be hard pressed to find a more stylish dining room in the CBD. My go-to steakjoint, despite fierce competition from 6head. I think the atmosphere here and sophistication of service makes it the winner
Very much enjoyed my experience here, the venue is lovely but can be a little hard to find. Check out my food Instagram @erinxeats for more!
Great food and atmosphere. Stake quantify and Australian wine selection were amazing.
Great food (the potato served with the mains was to die for), we had a set menu. The popcorn dessert to finish was also a standout. The restaurant is beautifully appointed and the service was faultless. But why, dear god, do they have unisex toilets? Turns out that it doesn t matter where men go, they still don t bother raising the toilet seat to urinate, and prefer to pee all over the toilet seat. We all know this is not a one off, so I hope the Sanderson would consider allocating bathrooms to women only for a dining experience that is less disgusting when a toilet break is required.
Can not fault anything. We felt like we were in New York for the night.
The food is exemplary at the Sanderson. I could not fault it in any way. The highlights are certainly the Stuffed Chicken Wing, Potato Rosti and the Rib Eye, while the Sticky Date Pudding is exactly how it should be. The choosing of a knife is a nice customer experience prior to eating your steak. The only low points of the evening was it appears only the hostess at the front desk was aware of the occasion being a Birthday celebration so only got to receive a card and small token gift as we left while never got the poem, just a shot to knock back as a palate cleanser. There was also the wrong glass of Pinot Noir we received but we cant confirm since the wine we got is from the same region and vintage. Overall a great night for the food which is why most visit but missed out on the added touches which make the night more enjoyable.
I celebrate my birthday today here, i feel so happy the food was amazing but the service was top notch. Will definelty coming back
One of the most relaxed and fantastic fine dining experiences in Sydney. Set in a comfortable environment, this met all experienced and then some. The staff were effortlessly friendly, professional and knowledgeable. From the finely dressed sommelier to our waiting staff they all knew what they were doing, including serving some dishes from a mobile trolley which added some theatre to the occasion. We also enjoyed a conversation with the restaurant manager on where they got their Tasmanian oysters from (which were the biggest oysters weve ever seen). Little touches like choosing your steak knife from a set of fancy knives added to the occasion. The food was excellent. Oysters and prawn toast as a starter then the lobster malfadine and steak surf and turf. The birthday cake desert a real highlight. Will be back!
Amazing food, great service we will be back when in Sydney next.
Honestly so impressed. Service was great and food was absolutely fantastic! The cannoli, beef tatare, bone marrow and the octopus were what I had and it was so good. Honestly I don t think you could go wrong. The chefs are amazing and I m very impressed.
Stunning food, professional and refined service. This was our 2nd visit. Our first visit was 3 months ago where we must have dined during some staffing issues. These have clearly been resolved, where our recent experience was fantastic. Cannot recommend the food enough - particularly the cannoli and potato rosti.
Excellent food and service. Will definitely be back soon Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating to dietary restrictions Food : 5/5 |
**Restaurant Review: The Sanderson** Rating: (5/5) Dining at The Sanderson was an extraordinary experience from start to finish. The moment we stepped through the doors, we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. The ambiance was perfect, with a charming and relaxed atmosphere that set the stage for a delightful evening. The customer service was exceptional. Every staff member we encountered was professional, attentive, and genuinely invested in ensuring we had a wonderful time. They anticipated our needs without being overbearing and made us feel like valued guests throughout our visit. As for the food, it was simply outstanding. Every dish was a testament to the chefs skill and creativity. The ingredients were fresh, the flavors were vibrant, and the presentation was beautiful. Each course was a delightful surprise, offering a perfect balance of taste and texture. In conclusion, The Sanderson excels in every aspect of the dining experience. The combination of top-notch service and exceptional food makes it a standout choice for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable meal. Whether youre planning a special night out or just want to indulge in some fine dining, this restaurant is sure to impress. We left the restaurant with a gift that I will always remember, thankyou for the experience and we will definitely be back. Highly recommended!
Good food, good service, good ambience. Highly recommend this place, celebrated a birthday and could not fault one thing. Will definitely be coming back.
Bloody good food
Great service and food! Highly recommended!
GASTRONOMICAL WHOLEHEARTED EXPERIENCE I had a special lunch today for a special friends birthday. From the moment we arrived we it felt that someone had carefully curated and crafted our experience. To be honest it s exactly what I would do if I had a restaurant. The shot at the beginning and the blessing. Beyond ! The card and the gift, wow. The bite sized options and OMG the food. Every morsel manna from heaven. Congratulations on breaking the norms of boring restaurants and bringing back the repast. Anna A/Prof Anna M Shepherd GAICD
Highly recommend the Sanderson Sydney! I had a wonderful birthday dinner. Excellent service, amazing atmosphere, and of course fantastic food. Thank you all the staff there for giving me a memorable and lovely evening.
Great service. Great food. Incredible time. Loved the gnocchi, beef tartare and octopus.
The Sandersons Signature Sea set menu was a culinary delight! From the flavorful crab to the incredible lobster pasta, every bite was a treat. The mocktail was a refreshing surprise, unlike anything Ive tasted before. A truly memorable dining experience!
An amazing addition to our go-to steak restaurants. Everything is top notch - from diverse menu that hits the spot to cozy ambience and welcoming staff. Guiness on tap gets an extra point from me personally but for cocktail lovers, you surely will not be disappointed. Will be coming back!
The atmosphere is cosy and sophisticated. Our server Harry ensured we had a wonderful and special birthday lunch. A very nice place to relax, not too noisy
Visited The Sanderson again for the second time. The first was for a dinner hosted by a luxury brand, and the most recent visit was to bring my friends given how much I enjoyed the initial visit! Stepping into The Sanderson is like stepping into a members only club. Firstly is the discrete entrance with only a light on the ground with The Sanderson sign declaring you have come to the right place. Once you walk into the dark interior, you feel transported to another place. Then up the elevator you go to the dining room (or down to the awesome Eau de vie bar that s another story). Expect exceptional service in a dining space that is very comfortable and where you can easily sit for the whole evening. Thoroughly enjoyable experience and will be back again. And again.
Honestly the best dining experience we ve had in Sydney in a LONG time. Gorgeous space, fantastic staff, top notch food, A+
I went with high expectations based on the reviews here, but left profoundly disappointed. Food is overpriced, and imagine walking in to a half-empty restaurant to be told, only after we ordered it, that the signature lobster pasta is out of stock as they only had eight for the weekend (we were told by staff who also shared that there were many disappointed customers, but maybe you can come back another time! Ah, no...). Then the cocktail of the month cant be enjoyed in the restaurant, only the bar. All this told only when the orders were already placed. The other dishes were really overpriced for what you got, and the descriptions werent exactly on point. Ceviche of scallop was a single scallop on a small bed of avocado puree- not how ceviche is done. A flash-sounding potato gratin side was basically wedges. Overall, this place does not measure up to expectations. It is expensive for what you get. That said, they had the best sourdough bread roll ($8 for a single roll) that I thought was the highlight. Nice ambience (if you do go, ask for a booth - the tables are too close together, meaning you hear everything at the table next to you).
Great little steakhouse. Reasonable prices and good food. The bone marrow was huge ( although perhaps roasted a little less than normal so was solid rather than almost liquidy) The standout was the service from George. I made an error by ordering the Scotch fillet by its alternate name of ribeye. BUT there s also a ribeye on the bone on the menu ( twice as much meat which I just couldn t get through). George was very gracious and replaced my meal ( even though it was really probably my own fault ). It s when things go wrong that flawless service really stands out. Give this place a go - you won t be disappointed
Exceptional dining experience, will definitely be recommending to my friends.
Exceptional service and great food, highly recommended.
Had a beautiful celebration with my partner for her 21st here, really enjoyed the choice of food and the quality, definitely recommend the dry aged duck. The floor staff were extremely accommodating and provided such a great service. Would definitely come back next time I am in Sydney :)
Yummy !! Food amazing
Second time at The Sanderson and had an amazing birthday dinner there with friends. Service and food was phenomenal and big thank you to Tania, Nadia and Poppy for the service.
Truly one of the absolute best restaurant experiences Ive ever had. Staff were lovely, the restaurant had a relaxing, refined, yet romantic atmosphere, and the food was delicious! Lamb and steak were perfect, and divine octopus and coral trout. Definitely be back.
Loved the service. Nice people and food.
My husband and I loved the special service elite customer welcome and beautiful ambience nothing left undone highly recommend
Loved this hidden gem. Tucked away in Wynyard lane The Sanderson was fabulous. Sophisticated dining with enourmous amounts of quality & charm. The food was sensational and was on par with 1 & 2 hat restaurants. The cocktail list is one of the most creative I have seen and of course tried. We tried most of the small plates and starters as they sounded so good and didnt dissapoint us. We didnt make to the extensive aged meat and seafood but that will be next time. The service was fab and I thoroughly recommend this hidden gem.
Service was terrible given the prices. We tried to do the set menu, and the waiter didn t understand basically anything about the menu. They brought someone else over to advise about wine, only for him to tell us that he wasn t a sommelier and didn t know much - at $90+ a bottle here that was an odd comment Honestly, given the pricing and the amount of excellent restaurants in the city I would give this one a hard pass.
Great food and service from the Vietnamese waitress. Beautiful decor and charming atmosphere. Would recommend this restaurant.
Such a beautiful place with character and a beautiful ambiance. The staff were awesome and the food was perfect. We loved the quirks that came with this dining experience and how the staff went out of there was in celebrating my wife s birthday. Highly recommend.
We dined at the Sanderson this week for our wedding anniversary and it was such a great dining experience. The service is second to none and food is really really really good. The prawn toast and the lobster pasta was definitely the best we have ever had! We will be back!
What an amazing night we had! The service, food and wine was fantastic! It was my boyfriend s birthday and we had such a special night there! Can t wait to go back!
Fantastic service and atmosphere, always feel very welcome and well looked after. Very accommodating even for larger groups and never fails to impress clients and friends when bringing them here. Also they have THE freshest oysters in Sydney, I have no idea how they do it, but Ive never had better oysters anywhere else.
Dining in the sanderson was one of the most unforgettable experience for me. The staff serving us was really nice. All foods ordered are delicious. I ordered the dry aged duck and it was the best duck I have ever eaten in my life. Cooked to perfect medium rare, you will taste the sweetness of the mustard sauce first and it balanced out the heaviness of the duck fat, and then the funkinese of the dry aged duck burst into your mouth. Highly recommend the dry aged duck. The chocolate mousse was a perfect ending to the dinner. Will definitely visit the restaurant again.
Wonderful evening at the Sanderson, where the food and service were really great. The particular food highlights for us were the beef tartare, the duck and the potato rosti and really great gluten free options for the coeliacs. The theatre of the beef tartare being made at the table is also part of the great experience (see video). Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
Most enjoyable food. Set menu perfect. Nice people on service.
We got the valentines set menu and it was incredible. The thought that went into it and the combination of flavours and textures were unmatched and go great with the service and wine pairings. All the staff were super friendly and had extensive knowledge of the menu, ingredients and wine. The atmosphere is already enough if a reason to come back. Thanks for a memorable night
Went for a babymoon dinner with hubby and the team was so amazing! Food was mouth watering! Make sure to try the prawn toast, the potato rosi and the sticky date for dessert! YUMM!!
Such a great experience. Food is excellent! I love the ambiance. Overall, great time with my Valentine :)
An amazing place to go for a romantic date
I went for my Valentines date with my boyfriend. We ordered the Valentines Day menu and everything tasted so delicious!! We saw different customers ordering different things and theirs looks yum too. The atmosphere is very cosy and the staff members are very friendly too!! Would definitely go back here again!
Great venue for special dinner. Great vibe, excellent service food and wine and some quirky touches. Also recognised our Anniversary with some nice personal touches.
Lets start with all the positives about The Sanderson. The room looked absolutely beautiful with all the very tasteful Christmas decorations. It was very festive. This was all followed by delicious food and excellent service to match. There was nothing to fault. Every dish was as good if not better than the last one. One of the little touches I really appreciated was as I had booked a few months in advance, the staff had reserved a great seat for the night. There was just 1 small negative for the evening and it occurred right at the beginning of the night. As my friends and I exited our taxi, an over aggressive security guard approached and reprimanded our driver for stopping in front of the restaurant. As the driver rightly pointed out, he was delivering business to the restaurant and the bar Eau De Vie. Due to the tone of the attack from the security guard, we even questioned if we should even go in for the drinks as planned. But as we had made a reservation, we felt that would be unfair to the bar and restaurant.
Fantastic menu and food, the lobster pasta is a must try. Ambiance was amazing, perfect for a date/celebration dinner with its classy interiors. Service was incredibly attentive and welcoming. The only suggestion would be that some dishes were too heavy handed on the salt, but other than that we really enjoyed our dinner here. Would definitely recommend!
The Sanderson .what a great find and strangely a place we had not heard much about. But, so pleased we chose The Sanderson to celebrate my wife s birthday. The Food and Drink Menus provided plenty of choice across with Oysters and Caviar, in addition to to many options for Starters and Mains. Food quality was high, a good quality wine selection with friendly and attentive service. We will definitely be back and will be highly recommending to friends and family. A great night .thanks
The food is delicious and the service is theatrical and excellent. They put a lot of thought into everything. This is a great place to celebrate a special occasion!
Not the most ideal cut of meat available. Entrees and sides good. Drinks good. Service excellent
Very impressed. My fiance and I visited to celebrate our anniversary and the staff really pulled out all the stops and made it a very memorable experience for us. The banquet seating in the restaurant is very comfortable and spacious and makes you feel right at home. The timing of dishes and the attentiveness of service was excellent. Beautiful steak and the Spanner Crab was something special. Shout out to Julian, the Sommelier and the lady at the front desk for looking after us. Will be back for sure. Eau-De-Vie, the sister bar located in the basement is well worth a visit, great cocktail menu and prohibition decor.
We loved the Sanderson. Relaxing environment, excellent food and service. The oysters were perfect, steak was cooked to perfection and we loved the potato rosti. Highly recommended.
Lovely fit-out. Nice menu, and very professional service. I enjoyed the food and the steaks were good. I have had better though in Sydney and elsewhere. We still had a lovely evening.
This place is well worth the visit. Food, service and atmosphere is top notch.
Highly recommend this place. Fantastic food and service. The decor is also incredible. Will definitely be back.
Fantastic food, amazing staff and Eau de Vie is just downstairs!
Excellent evening, brilliant food and attentive service.
Amazing experience
Amazing atmosphere and the service is on another level.
Absolutely amazing! Food and drinks were absolutely spot on!
Amazing food and fitout
After having pre dinner drinks down stairs, we ordered the set menu. The service was amazing. We were very well looked after and the wine flowed well! The shot salute was fun and choosing our own steak knife was a first for me! The food well prepared and presented. We left happy and full. Oh and the oysters were so fresh and creamy!
I live near Pipit and am a regular customer there as it has always set the standard for me on a fine dining experience. The Sanderson is now my new expectation. From the service to the food, there was nothing that wasnt an amazing experience. If I can recommend one dish, get the potato rosti. Ive never had one that had such a golden crisp coating whilst being the softest fluffiest potato inside. Its honestly worth going just to try it!
Always stunning, from the atmosphere to the food and the Wunderbar staff
An absolutely wonderful restaurant, spacious and beautifully laid out. The staff are extremely accommodating, competent and friendly. The food was fantastic (10/10!). We would not hesitate to return and enjoy more of the menu and hospitality at The Sanderson.
We enjoyed a lunch for 2 at The Sanderson. (It was a bit hard to find walking down Wynyard lane) Regardless from the time we made our booking to when we arrived for lunch, we both had an enjoyable experience. The service was amazing, the food was exceptional. We selected the lunch degustation. The eclair carbonara and spanned crab salad are a must as well as the lobster pasta and potato croquettes/rosti. We ended lunch with a bombshell Alaska made using interesting layers of flavours from olive cake base, mandarin purée peppercorn and italian meringue dusted with peppercorn dust. Beautifully presented and so tasty. The wine selection was excellent. We left feeling very happy and satisfied.
Thankyou for creating such a fabulous experience. And experience it was! From the moment we stepped in the elevator, to the smiles at front of house, to the incredible welcome shot, in these awesome little pewter cups (some sweet, cucumber delight) as the waiter recited an unexpected prose of friendship and good health. We were taken away by how cool it all was. Gorgeous velvet booths, waiters pushing trolley s past us with smoking cocktails. The smokey river salt was a 1st for us. This place has such a vibe. There s just not a detail missed. Thankyou for playing music, at a volume that allowed us to talk! This was a truly a memorable experience. The food was simply incredible, the potato rosti was the best we have EVER had. The choice of knives was a unique touch and the service was amazing. We will be back!
Great music, great ambiance, great service. The pork chop and wagyu rump were really good, no sauce needed. The winner was the seasonal truffle risotto. Oh the martinis were great too. Will be back! Food
Had the wagyu rump cap, barnsley chop, moreton bay bug, black winter truffle, blueberries & cream and medjool sticky date pudding. Will definitely come back.
Its hard to find the entrance, but you can find it if you know the road called Wynnyard Lane. The atmosphere is very nice, great for drinking wine. The food price is a little expensive, but the service was good so I paid comfortably. (Lunch was over $160 per person. 3 people paid $500 including wine)
We re so fortunate to have discovered this place so early into its launch! It s by far our new favourite place in the CBD. The food is amazing, the drinks are perfection and the service is top tier. The location, the vibe the whole experience was one of the best we have ever had. I feel that soon, we will have trouble booking in, it will be too popular!
Great service and beautiful food, thank you. We were very well looked after!
Amazing beautiful service and food Vegetarian options: They had great options Food : 5/5 |
Beautiful looking restaurant. Exceptional team doing their best to ensure that guests have a first class experience. Food was wonderful. Wine to match. Looking forward to dining at The Sanderson again (and again).
The Sanderson has to be one of the top dining experiences this year! The staff were super friendly and attentive, food was amazing, cooked to perfection and the cocktails were superb! At the end of lunch, they even made a reservation for us at Eau du Vie later on that evening! We had such a positive experience here and the only piece of feedback I had was for a restaurant of this calibre, I thought maybe the wine list may have been more extensive.
Good service, the food was missing that something. Although I would most definitely return for the sprouts. Best I ve had!
Had a fantastic experience the other day, my partner took me here for a birthday dinner and loved the whole atmosphere and service. A bit hard to find but they are located in a little ally way.
So disappointed! We were so looking forward to eating here. The service was awful (not just bad but truly awful). What food we did get was lovely but the main course the 800gm sirloin for two people took 40 mins and arrived cold. They offered us a free sticky date pudding between two of us to apologise!!! The GM of the restaurant can t seem to manage what is going on. The wine us lovely but overpriced and we left in search of a kebab. A awful experience awful service we won t be going back.
Lou was an amazing waitress and made the experience one to remember for my partner and I. Accompanied by some fantastic food. Highly recommend
Thank you so much . We had the lobster and the aged wague. The food was amazing. The service was second to none . The waiter we had was so sweet and very helpful. The atmosphere was great , fantastic place to do business. I will certainly be back again, next time with my other half . Money well spent. My client was really thankful and impressed . Thank you again for a fabulous night.
First time here and everything was nice. Food was good and the service was great. I ordered the duck which was a bit undercooked for my taste but apart from that everything was good. The prices are reasonable. Overall a nice experience. Definitely recommended
Spent our Anniversary here at this place. At the start, we were greeted with a lovely short poem about love and had a toast to celebrate. Food was really delicious. We had the King Prawn Toast and Sourdough Roll as starters, then Burrata as Entree. They said that first impression really matters, and they didn t disappoint us. Starters and Entree are all awesome so we knew the mains would also be great! Then here comes our Mains. We had the Lobster Mafaldine and Steak. The pasta sauce on the Lobster Mafaldine is the bomb! Really worth it to pay the price. The steak was also surprisingly good. I didn t expect much since I just get the Flatiron Steak but flavor-wise, it was packed with beefy flavor and the redwine jus was a great sauce. We recommend this restaurant to celebrate your special milestone.
One of the most unique and delicious beef tartare Ive had. Not traditional, so may not be everyones cup of tea but I loved it and it suited my palate. Solid cocktail range and beautiful opulent interior
Amazing food, drinks, service and ambience.
The shot salute was a 1st time experience for me & a warm welcome to The Sanderson. Staff were very welcoming & helpful with our wine choice after starting with the Sanderson Spritz cocktail. Elation continued with an impressive menu of amazing food from starters, mains through to delicious desserts. We all left satisfied.
Food and drinks were amazing - all set in an awesome lively atmosphere. After dinner, being able to finish the night off in the cool bar downstairs made for a very special evening.
It was an awesome dining experience at The Sanderson. The food from starters to desserts were delectable that yielded a sumptuous meal. The restaurant managers and staff were all so impressive making sure you would enjoy the experience. Equally admirable are the chefs and the bartender for their skills in preparing the food and drinks served in the table. This evening was indeed celebrating life s greatest milestone experience.
Loved it. Will return but not expecting it to be so easy getting a table when the word gets out. Highlight for me was definitely the zucchini.
We went to this restaurant to celebrate our friends birthday. It was 8 of us. The waiter dropped few drinks on me while serving drinks. My hair , Top , jeans were drenched. My whole night was spoiled. I still joined my friends as it was a celebration and didnt want to ruin the night. The service was super slow. We were there at 8pm and mains came out at 11.15pm. By the time we finished dinner n desserts it was 12.20am . Ivent experienced this slow service anywhere. Food was good. I have no complaints on food. They need to work on their wait staff And service.
We came here because it had such good ratings and the menu looked amazing. We got the $120 set menu. The food itself was ok, some highlights (the oysters, the blueberries and cream dessert). The worst thing was that the service took way too long!! It took them 3hr 50min to serve everything from entree to dessert. I was starving and wasnt even full after the meal. The main took 50mins to come out after the entrees. The waiters and waitresses were all very nice and welcoming. Just wish the food didnt take so long to come out. There also werent large enough portions to share between 5 people.
Overpriced, over salted food very slow service times. Waited over 45 minutes to be seated for a confirmed booking. The audacity to charge a 10% service fee for below average service even though it was $160 for set menu. No soft drinks for mixers couldn t order a standard drink . No one has contacted me even though I ve provided feedback twice. Do not waste your time or money. Thank you Sanderson for making my birthday celebrations a disappointing event. We will never be back. If I could put minus 5 I would have.
Birthday dinner for 10 people , asked to go down stairs to the bar as table was not ready . Orders drinks at bar which did not arrive for 40mins. Told table was ready could not take drinks . Got to our table waited another 40 minutes for drinks . Service was slow, steak was cold , very disappointed birthday girl.
Recently celebrated my birthday with drinks at Eau de Vie (downstairs) and dinner at The Sanderson (upstairs). One of our best best dining experiences in Sydney recently. Impeccable service, food and cocktails, but the difference was in the extras. A welcome toast, steak tartare prepared table side (delicious and non-traditional), a whiskey luge through bone marrow, and diners choice of steak knife. Excellent.
Good
The East 33 oysters was the best oysters I have ever had! Very plump and tasty. We also the beef tartare. The waiters themselves were very friendly and the only negative experience was the time it took for the food to come out. I also think they forgot our oysters order since it came out after we reminded them when we finished our starters. I mentioned that it was my partners birthday when the booking was made and it was a nice touch with the birthday bombe alaska and the parting gift.
I only recommend coming here if you like a 4 hour meal from start to finish Food was yummy (except an overly sour starter dish), and waiters were friendly, but that s all of the positives. Unfortunately the food took too long to arrive. Bread came 45 minutes after we were seated, and it took over 1 hour between the starters and mains. We were hungry during the long wait and left thinking we could have gone to Maccas after!
First time here, great food and great service. We loved everything.
Get together the other night for my friend birthday, from now is our new favourite spot!! Everything was amazing, the food, the service, the vibe! Thank you!!!! Food : 5/5
The girls took me for my birthday, not only was the staff amazing the service was spectacular and so catering. We had a 2 hour seating and our waitress had kindly advised us of how long we had left before the next group arrived. As we had the $170pp set menu we were rushed to eat our mains but the lovely waitress organised our desserts to be served downstairs at the bar and helped us book a table. As for food, entrées were delicious however mains were salty and nothing special. They also gifted me a birthday card and keychain. Great experience overall!
Had dinner tonight at the Sanderson and had a wonderful time. Our server Zane was amazing and was so personable and friendly. The food was great and the drinks were perfect. Best experience I ve had in a Restaurant in the city. Highly recommend this place
Zane was our server and he was excellent, very funny, charming and went the extra mile, he had excellent recommendations and made us feel at home. The venue was outstanding. Thank you ALL for an amazing evening. Thank-you Zane!
Had the most amazing experience at The Sanderson! Everything from the food, service, drinks, and the atmosphere was beyond my expectations. The lobster malfaldine was the best lobster i ve ever had!
Great food great vibes ! Hard to find the entry tho
Our new fav restaurant in the city. What a cracking place. The food was spectacular, generously portioned and just super tasty. The single starters, oysters and entree dishes were varied and each enticing in their own way. We got the prawn toast, eclair carbonara, oysters, beef tartare and bone marrow, all delicious. I was so tempted to order one of each starter and had a hard time narrowing it down. Next time well definitely try the scallop and crab salad. Love the theatrics of finishing dishes by the table. The mains were a knockout - Scotch fillet, lamb rump, dry aged duck with sides of potato rosti, baby carrots and broccoli. Beautifully medium rare and succulent meat. Quite the range of jus to pair with the dish. The dry aged duck was by far the best weve tasted anywhere. So juicy and packed full of flavour, beautiful fat to meat ratio, moorish duck skin, simply decadent. (The octopus wasnt great, not sure if it was that particular batch not being as fresh or an outlier something, but hopefully others had better versions of it or it gets swapped. Im sure all the other seafood options are just as delicious as the meat dishes we had) We got the bombe Alaska and sticky pudding for dessert and they were a little boozy, sweet, tart and well balanced, a great way to finish the night. Love the little touches of the bull shot glasses and amuse bouche of unknown elixir to wet our appetite at the start. The leather napkin rings with the Sanderson insignia, the choose-your-own-Argentinian-knife experience, the plush booths and floor to ceiling windows all added to the luxe vibe. The wait staff were super attentive, provided great service and we were very well looked after. The wine list was extensive and had good range and the sommelier was very helpful in piling us with excellent wines (ended up having a bottle each in our group). I also enjoyed the mocktail that came out in a house like glass (forgot what its called), it was very yummy without being sickly sweet or cordial like. Its usually slim pickings for good mocktails even at nice restaurants so this was a bonus for the non drinker. Was quite the gluttonous night. Would definitely be returning especially as its quite close to work so wed be eyeing it for work lunches next.
Ive never walked out of a restaurant before ordering before, but thats what we did here. When we arrived, we were asked what we thought of the bar downstairs. When we expressed our disappointment, the hostess ignored us completely. After walking in, we were placed on a small table as you walked into the main restaurant and was bumped by the wait staff on at least 3 occasions before even ordering. When we grabbed the hostess and asked if we could swap tables, we were told they were allocated on a booking basis (despite there being other tables free) and we couldnt be moved. After the 3rd occasion of being bumped, we left and told the hostess that wed been disappointed downstairs at the bar, we were already having a poor experience in the restaurant so we simply wanted to leave. Upon which she said she could find us another table. There are many great restaurants in Sydney to choose from which we often frequent - so we wont be coming back to this one.
The design of the restaurant is great, clearly a lot of thought went into it. Initial arrival was very good, as it was noted in the booking that we were there due to our anniversary. We had a lovely table in the corner, thank you. When the server came over she asked if we were celebrating anything, she should have known from the booking why we were there, so to be asked was strange as the restaurant was also very quiet, so this small detail should have been easy to remember if she would have looked at our booking details. We ordered a couple of glasses of wine and when the sommelier poured my wifes wine, asked if i wanted anything, however i had already ordered a glass with the server, again communication clearly did not take place as he should have known this, rather than confusing us by asking this. We ordered a number of dishes, one of them being the Lamb, which we asked for cooked medium. It came out medium rare (quite bloody), we asked for it to be cooked per our request and even when it came back it was clearly not quite cooked long enough, but we did not want to ask again. The Brussel sprouts were delicious. Overall lovely setting, but for the price they charge (more than some chef hat restaurants), the smaller details need to be worked on.
Great night! Staff we fantastic and friendly. Food was really good. Shame they don t offer coffee other than espresso. Food : 5/5
No words. Absolutely amazing. Whether food or service.
The ambience, the food and the service.. just wow. We came here to celebrate a friends birthday and the little touches they did from the bull shots, the birthday poem to the little gifts just made the night so special and fun. The wait staff were friendly, helpful and just had a great energy to make the night. One of my new favourite Sydney restaurants!
TLDR: Great ambience for special occasions or long dinners. Stayed there for hours and didn t feel rushed or interrupted which was appreciated Loved how they offered welcome drink toast and picking out our own unique knife, really added on to the experience! The prawn toast & charred octopus was our top picks Would come back to try other stuff! Food ordered: Grilled octopus ($46) - usually not a big fan of octopus but it was so well cooked! The sauce reminded us of sambal. Must order Prawn toast ($14ea) - must order Fraser island spanner crab ($44) it was good but not a must order Potato Rosti - Great side! Must order. 400g dry aged half duck - was not a fan of the texture unfortunately it was too chewy and fatty for my preference. Maybe that s just how it s supposed to be? But not my favorite. Desserts: Blueberries & cream yum Strawberry tart - fresh and light, great to finish off with Ambience: LOVE it! Perfect for a girls / birthday or date night. Instagrammable spot for sure. Staff was super friendly and even offered to take group photos (which we love)! Would recommend it for the vibes
The steak I had was outstanding, cooked to perfection, tender and full of flavour. Lovely fit out worthy of a cosy long lunch for business, family or friends. It s a shame the (red) wine list is so limited at the low to mid-range with one bottle <$100 in each varietal and then jumping well into 3 figures - I think you could do with some additional price points.
I ordered the steak, and unfortunately, it was quite tough and not as flavorful as I had hoped. This was a bit disappointing, as I had heard good things about their menu. On the positive side, the presentation of the dishes was impeccable :)
I took my husband to the Sanderson for his birthday dinner and it did not disappoint! He loves whisky and had three whisky based courses - with whisky! He loved it! The service was fantastic, from the welcome to Birthday toast with poem to after a at the wonderful Eau de Vie Whisky bar downstairs! Highly recommended!
Protein rich experience
Love this place, and I keep returning for more!
Tried for the first time and can say that the food is amazing, we had the special ribeye and it was cooked to perfection with the right amount of charcoal flavour. Excellent service with a free shot upon dining, nice atmosphere for an intimate dinner with friends.
Fabulous! 10/10.
Would definitely recommend! The service was fantastic. Our server was very attentive and when our time was almost up and we were still in the middle of dining, she reserved a bar seating for us so we could continue our meal. The food was superb. No complaints about any of the dishes. We particularly enjoyed the duck and fried Brussels. Give this place a go!
Excellent service, good food, good wine list
My husband and I had a delightful dinner at Sanderson Restaurant, courtesy of our daughters thoughtful birthday gift. The staff was friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We appreciated their helpful tip that the entrees were for one person while the mains were generously portioned, and they were spot on. For our appetizers, we enjoyed the Sonoma sourdough with Coppertree Farms butter and the King Prawn Toast with saffron, truffle, and nasturtium. Both dishes were delicious and set a promising tone for the rest of the meal. Moving on to the mains, we ordered the Scotch fillet and the dry-aged half duck. The portions were indeed substantial. The steak was delicious and tender. However, the duck, while it had a great flavor, it was slightly disappointing that the duck turned out a bit chewy. In addition to our entrees and mains, we decided to complement our meal with some sides, ordering the potato rosti and saltbush. These sides were a great choice and added an extra layer of flavor and texture to our dinner. Furthermore, it was a delightful surprise that the restaurant gave me a gift during our visit, which added a special touch to the overall experience. This thoughtful gesture from Sanderson Restaurant truly made our evening memorable and highlighted their commitment to ensuring guests have a memorable dining experience.
Nice food Good service will come again for sure Thank you for giving us a great birthday dinner and
Absolutely Incredible! The best restaurant I have ever been to. The food was delicious. The service was amazing. Every little detail was just perfect. I had the best time from the second I walked in. Food
Exceptional Luxury and Service at The Sanderson: A Must-Visit Hidden Gem! I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a surprise birthday party at The Sanderson, and I must say, it exceeded all expectations in every aspect. From the moment we arrived, the staff displayed impeccable service and went above and beyond to ensure our celebration was truly unforgettable. Despite running a bit late, the staff greeted us warmly and efficiently, swiftly attending to our needs and making us feel welcomed. The atmosphere exudes luxury and sophistication, setting the perfect stage for a fine dining experience. The ambience was elegant and refined, adding to the overall charm of the evening. Now, lets talk about the food - an absolute culinary delight! The flavors and presentation were exceptional, showcasing the chefs expertise and dedication to providing a top-tier dining experience. The menu offered a delightful variety, pleasing every palate at our family gathering of six. The quality and taste of each dish were nothing short of magnificent, truly embodying the epitome of fine dining. What truly set The Sanderson apart was the unparalleled treatment we received from the staff. They treated our family like royalty, attending to every detail and making sure our celebration was nothing short of extraordinary. Exceptional service, food and atmosphere with a personal touch added for our group birthday event which elevated the enjoyment of the evening even further
I love this place! The staff here is really attentive and the staff really know their menu (I am lactose intolerant) and can make great drinks recommendations. Their cocktails are amazing!! One of the best in Sydney I reckon and the food was overall really good aa well! But for me the service and atmosphere were the standouts. Dietary restrictions: Cater for lactose intolerance
Came for a lunchtime meal with my wife on a weekday after hearing great things from friends. We were super impressed by the fit-out and charm of the restaurant. The meals were very good, we shared a mixture of sea and land mains and a few starters (bite sized snacks). While we really enjoyed the food, the dishes had a nostalgic feel rather than being groundbreaking. Tasty though. The duck was a stand out for us. The service was friendly and attentive, however it lacked the polish you would expect from a fine diner in the heart of Sydney. Pretty expensive too, $650 for 2 people including the second cheapest Pinot Nior on the list (and a few cocktails).
Perfect treat yourself venue! Decadent luxury on a Friday, perfect
Beautiful venue, amazing customer service and delicious food. My new favourite fine dining place and will definitely come back!
Amazing ambiance and interiors and lovely service. The standouts were the tartare and the starters. The aged duck was cooked perfectly but personally I found the glaze too sweet. Brussels sprouts were delicious! Really did not like the cocktail I ordered which tasted like cough syrup :( the welcome drink was delicious though!
Great variety of steaks. Excellent entrees and side dishes. Great atmosphere and excellent service. Highly recommend.
Absolutely faultless. Hands down one of the best restaurant experiences Ive ever had.
I recently celebrated my birthday at Sanderson, and I must say it was a major disappointment. The restaurants prices were incredibly high, and sadly, the experience did not justify the cost. The service was plaint, and the taste of the food left much to be desired. The staff was slow, and we didnt get our wine until after wed finished our entrees. Whats more, they charged a hefty $7.5 per person for bringing a birthday cake but didnt even provide a knife to cut it. It was a letdown. The cost didnt match the experience, and Id caution others to think twice about celebrating special occasions here.
A bit hard to find, but a great place to have dinner at, when in the CBD. Good food, good service and nice atmosphere!
Food was good, potato rosti was great. Service was very good, had glasses of water filled at all times and staff were warm & friendly.
I had been looking forward to this dinner for 4 weeks as it was a birthday dinner for my fiancé. Unfortunately we were left underwhelmed and disappointed. The service was great to start, with a birthday shot on arrival and the starters were great. We ordered the 500g steak and added 1/2 lobster for the main. The lobster came out dead cold and was tough and tasteless (there was only 2 mouthfuls worth in the lobster so by the time we tasted it, it was gone) The steak was also tough but saved by the miso garlic butter so I could deal with that. To add to it, we had a large moth pestering us the entire time we ate. (No fault of the restaurant, so I commented on it but didn t complain) Unfortunately when I complained about the cold lobster I was offered a very lacklustre apology and eventually asked to pick a dessert free of charge. We decided against the dessert and upon leaving were offered an I m really sorry, please come back again and that was it. Very unsatisfied considering the bill was over $500 for 2 people.
Just amazing. Great food, awesome service, fantastic ambience. The food was one of the best and value for $, the cute card and souvenir for our anniversary celebration was a good surprise. Keep up the great work, team. Food
Top service and food.
Best food, service and atmosphere! It was my best friends birthday and they gave her a card and gift also. Highlights were the prawn toast, carrots and the sticky date pudding! Lobster and caviar was sensational also
Wow what an experience, definitely has a swanky vibe. From when you enter via the elevator to be greeted by the meat cool room, walking past the fresh seafood display, to being seated with a complimentary mead shot and then a nice steamed towel to wipe your hands or freshen up. Great vibe/ambience and friendly staff. Food was delicious from the eclair cabonara, prawn toast, the spanner crab table side show, bone marrow and having a shot poured down the bone afterwards. The starters were all fantastic and tasted great. For mains we had wagyu steak and the lobster mefaldine which was perfectly balanced in flavour. The dessert was a nice way to round off the meal. Before we left they had even presented a well wishes card and miniture knife/bottle opener as a parting gift. What a place.
Beautiful restaurant with attentive staff and great food!
Absolutely spectacular! We booked the Sanderson to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we were greatly impressed with our whole experience. The food was incredible, the flavours were tantalising and everything was cooked to perfection. If we had to choose a stand out dish, it would be the roasted bone marrow. The flavours were nothing short of culinary perfection. The vibe was so romantic and the service was top tier. We also loved the card and gift! Thank you for hosting us and we look forward to dining there again soon!
Came for a work lunch and the food is incredible as well as the atmosphere. The service from staff was excellent however the food did seem to take a while to come out. All the food was delicious with stand out dishes being the coral trout and the king prawn toast. Would highly recommend as you have a nice view from the high windows and the food was faultless. Will look to visit again soon. Wheelchair accessibility: Building has an Elevator
Excellent service, menu and wine list. Rock Oysrers to die for. Steak immaculate. Bombe Alaska a hoot!.
Amazing place for friends dinner/lunch. Waitress and sommelier are very kind and professional. Sommelier even can remember customers after few weeks we came back to have lunch again. Duck is the must have to try dishes.
Best food I ever had
Loved it! What a fabulous concept! An impressive special event restaurant. Perfect for business lunches.
An Unforgettable Anniversary dinner. My partner and I recently celebrated our anniversary at The Sanderson, and I must say, it was an evening to remember. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. The food was simply outstanding. I ordered the scotch fillet, and it was cooked to perfection. The tenderness and flavor were beyond compare, making it one of the best steaks I ve ever had. And let s not forget about the potato rosti, which were absolutely amazing. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, they were the perfect accompaniment to the main course. What made our dining experience even more special was the fantastic seat we were given. Located in the corner, we had a panoramic view of the entire restaurant. It allowed us to soak in the ambiance and enjoy our meal in a truly picturesque setting. The staff at The Sanderson were truly exceptional. They were not only attentive and friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Their recommendations were spot-on, and their passion for their craft was evident in every interaction. It s always a pleasure to dine somewhere where the staff genuinely care about your experience. Overall, our anniversary dinner at The Sanderson was an absolute delight. The combination of delectable food, a perfect seat, and attentive staff made it a truly memorable evening. Thank you to the entire team for making our celebration so special. We will definitely be returning to create more wonderful memories in the future.
Had a set menu, Everything was on the salty side, service could have been better, waitress was in over her head serving a large group of ppl. Can tell she was inexperienced and would have been better if she had someone to assist her with such a large group. Did not know too much about cocktail menu and would disappear for ages cos she would have to go ask someone to help her answer questions we asked. We were given wet towels after we started eating and then we were given steak knives to choose from when it got to our lobster dish and we still don t know why it was given. I love how there was a novelty treat but how that relates to our meal is yet a mystery. On a positive note, Sanderson does have a nice atmosphere however this does not win people heart for them to come back.
Fabulous food and the ambiance was amazing. Service was impeccable and the small personalised touches made the night extra special
Respectfully wouldn t return. The vibe wasn t happening. Every dish tasted a little worse than what it looked so it was slightly disappointing. The tuna tartare was the only dish that was of standard in a high end restaurant - the only dish I d recommend. The service was missed - the wine we wanted wasn t chilled, the waiters and bar staff had no vibe or cheek to them, they got the entrees wrong in terms of qty and menu items so we felt a little bad having to say sorry that s not what we ordered. The girl at front desk (host) was lovely and inviting. Should have more like her in the wait staff team. Will leave it at that for now. Restructure roles and focus on staffing vibes and running operations and I m sure it will be a nice experience.
A great place for a great steak. The food and wine were top quality as was the service. Would definitely go back and recommend.
Loved it - food, service, ambience, decor. Exceeded all expectations. Already planning our return.
