Perfection. What a hidden gem... we absolutely loved every moment of our experience at Indu. From the moment we stepped into the funky & exotic decor, to being greeted by the wonderful staff, and then going on a magnificent taste journey across their beautiful menu... we were in love. This is seriously the best meal we've ever eaten.. and we loved how accessible and thought out everything was. We went very early due to an event, and loved that they could accommodate that.. and they even kept a watch on the time for us. We have a lot of dietary restrictions, and still managed to enjoy so much food we almost burst. The staff were warm, hospitable and everything we tried was just divine. Our new favourite! Do not miss this gem.
First time trying Sri Lankan food and it was delicious! Cauliflower dish was amazing and so was the lamb and barramundi. Tuna croquettes was surprisingly nice. Chicken wasn't anything to rave about. Highly recommended!
A lovely Sri Lankan inspired restaurant. I was here for work function so we booked the entire space out. Had I can see clearly now which had a special Sri Lankan coconut flower liquor - Ceylon Arrack which was coconuty and Lola with El Jimador Blanco, Triple Sec with citrusy flavour. I think Lola was more to my taste. We got part of the festive menu. The food was really nice - stracciatella, caramelised lamb, chocolate cardamom mousse
Best meal in Sydney and flavours I will hopefully never forget. Truly astounding. This lamb dish was so light yet so filling, the meat melting in the mouth, and the sauces... love. And the chocolate mousse with hokey pokey and hazelnuts should not be passed up. One of the greatest desserts ever. And top-shelf service!
It was my 1st Sri Lankan dining experience and my husband and I were impressed. As we had limited time before a theatrical show, we opted for the pre theatre set menu and it didn’t disappoint. All the pre selected food was good and tasty. From entree to mains were all mouth watering. A delight to my palate, savoury, sweet and spiced with perfect seasoning. The eggplant with silken tofu and brussel sprouts had so much flavour in them. We ended our dinner with dessert to share, Arrack spiced pear cake with brandy sauce (suggested by the table host) and that sealed the deal. We shall be back to try out other dishes from Indu’s menu. Great food, good ambience and service!
I recently revisited INDU for an anniversary dinner, and I left with a heavy heart. Four years ago, I had one of the best nights of my life there, sharing incredible Indian food with two close friends. But this time, everything I loved about the place seemed gone. The waiter, when we asked about recommended dishes, instead pushed the set menu. The entrees to start, were uneventful and did not resemble what was on their recent social media, however we held out hope. When the mains arrived, my heart sank—the pork curry was unbearably watery, tasting nothing like the rich, flavourful curries I remembered, and the barramundi fish was dry, served with a cold, tasteless sauce that ruined the dish entirely. INDU was once a special part of my life, and now it’s just a memory of what could have been.
The entrance to the restaurant looks like an old subway, which I didn’t like much, but the interior is really nice. Everything inside was carefully placed and built. They offer only a few dishes, so the selection is more limited compared to other places. I have visited twice, and while the first visit was bizarre, the second was much better. This time, we ordered the $75 per person menu but customised it a bit. The food overall was good, and the mocktail I ordered was a highlight, perfectly complementing the main course. I was especially happy with the second visit, mainly because the waitress was friendly and attentive, which wasn’t the case during my first visit. As a Sri Lankan, I really enjoyed the chicken curry—it felt authentic. After a long time in Australia, I also got to try papadam, which we used to eat every day back in Sri Lanka. It was a nice nostalgic touch!
This hidden place is a basement restaurant, my first SriLankan cuisine experience. The food quality was very good. I tried 3 types of Dosa and all were good, my favorite is the potato dosa. Mani course we tried the lamb, the chicken and the cabbage. All were good however my favorite was the chicken. We tried the date putting and the soft serve, both were good. The date pudding was outstanding.
The food was wonderful, but the service could use improvement. We got our drinks after they were sitting on the bar for 10 minutes and asked someone to check. Had to wait 40 minutes for our mains and got them cold. Once again, they were sitting on the counter and had to ask someone to check.
I cam here last Wednesday for dinner before going to a show. Ive only been twice but the service and food has been amazing both times, it was probably a few months in between visits but Edi who served us remembered me both times and always really accommodating and attentive. Highly recommend!
The last time I came to Indu was before Covid and it certainly won t be that long again. The food, atmosphere and service were second to none. The BYO wine option in December made it a much more attractive proposition for a team dinner. I ve recommended it so highly that my sister and her team are booking in. Thank you and see you again soon.
Exotic interior design following with nice concept of Sri Lankan cuisine. I expected more authentic flavours from each menu but it was good enough
Worst food - portion even bad. Had a team lunch with set menu and they served so less that we had to head straight to kebab joint to fill out apetite. Taste was also very ok. Cocktail is fine but super dilute. Rude manager - not welcoming at all. For any food allergies he behaved as if he is doing favour. Few of folks did not take wine earlier but later asked if they can get it, we had to talk to manager and convince. Nice staffs - the staffs are nice and carried a good smile and very welcoming and helpful. Decor - overall nice. But good if you want to go in small group. For large group you going to be scattered. I would not like to visit again or recommend to anyone.
Not the best experience for the price we paid, some items like smoked fish were pointless on the menu according to their pricing
Came here for the bottemless lunch on Saturday, truly amazing food and the drinks were awesome as well.
I had high expectation for Indu hence I chose it to be the venue for a corporate lunch (10+ guests). However our experience was quite subpar. Food wise - entree servicing size was small. Then we had to wait till almost 2pm till the mains to come out (we were seated at just after 12 ). A couple of our guests had to leave before the mains came out as they only had two hours for this lunch. Then the rice (that was supposed to be served with mains) came out after the guests had almost finished eating their mains. Service - it was average over all but the low light was when we asked for some bread, one of the waitress responded I can only hold three plates at a time! .. I mean just a yep the bread will be coming soon would ve been a lot better her passive aggressive comment raised quite a few eye brows across the table.
I emailed the company directly twice with my feedback but never heard back so here s my review. While the food was nice yesterday, the service left much to be desired. It took approx. 2.5hours to receive all the food, which is far too long for a corporate lunch on a week day. Some of our team members had meetings scheduled and had to leave hungry, as the main course wasnt served until 2:45pm. Even then, there wasnt enough food for everyone, despite some people having already left. Additionally, halfway through the lunch, the staff stopped coming by to top up water. When leaving the restaurant, I voiced my concerns but felt there was no real understanding. I was simply told that we should have chosen the lunch menu with two options. However, this menu was never offered to me when booking via email or during my two phone conversations with your staff, which was quite disappointing. I had personally visited your restaurant a year ago and had a wonderful experience, which is why I thought it would be a great place for our staff lunch. Unfortunately, this time it was not a success, and I doubt we would return.
One of the best meals Ive had in a long time. So full of flavour. You can smell the array of spices as you walk in the door, and our socks were knocked off right from the start by the phenomenal chutney that accompanied the goat spring rolls
Delicious food & lovely wait staff.
We visit Sydney a few times each year and a meal at Indu is top of our list. The food is always amazing but we also look forward to the wonderful people at Indu who make it a truly great night out for us. Thank you and see you next time!
Came for a work lunch, and 1.5 hours in had only just gotten the entrees. Having to leave for a meeting I had ended up missing the main part of the meal. The restaurant wasn t busy so unsure why the wait was so long. Food itself looked good but definitely missing flavour and spice. Disappointed to say the least.
Tasty Sri Lankan food, surprisingly big portions. I had the aubergine small plate and the daal dosa. No drinks, no dessert and I could barely move I was so full! The crispy eggs that came with the daal were two whole eggs in a rich sauce! Nice shabby chic basement vibes too
Delicious food!
Great food and value for the pre-theatre menu (with much consideration for time as well before the show), and excellent service.
Had team dinner here, food is ok, service is perfect
During our pre-gig date, my partner and I dined at this lovely restaurant. Personally, as a super-taster, I have a low tolerance for hot spices, so the mild flavour suited me. Nonetheless, I felt that it lacked a certain authentic touch.
Fantastic Service and Exceptional Dining Experience! We dined at Indu on Friday night, and the experience was extraordinary. From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable, but what truly stood out was how our server went above and beyond to accommodate our table of four, which included two guests with special dietary requirements. The recommendations were thoughtful, detailed, and perfectly tailored to our needs. Our server followed up diligently throughout the evening to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. It s rare to see such a high level of attentiveness and genuine care in hospitality. I only wish I had her name to commend her personally in this review. The food was, of course, delicious bursting with unexpected flavours and prepared with finesse. If you re looking for a dining experience where the staff genuinely care about your experience as much as the quality of the food, Indu is the place to go. I highly recommend it and will definitely be back!
Our server, Beth, was fantastic and took exceptional care of our table.
Ambience was a vibe. Service was ok. Food was an absolute disappointment. It was bland and tasteless. Very expensive and not tasty at all. Would not recommend Food
I just left. I had lunch with a party of 4. We stayed a while, chatting. There were some great vegetarian sharing options. The server made some great recommendations. Very enjoyable.
We had the new set menu which isn t listed below. Bone marrow curry and lamb ribs. One of the party was vegetarian and the team were very accommodating in replacing the meat for vegetarian options. Very friendly staff and good wine selection at sensible prices.
This food nourished my soul! Need more stars. Dietary restrictions: Many gluten free options including basically the whole banquet menu Food : 5/5 |
Used to go a lot because the food was excellent and pretty genuine Sri Lankan. Went recently and the menu has changed or something because the flavours were lacking, the old favourites weren t there or if they were they had a western twist, didn t feel as satisfying honestly. Eg the bread being brioche?
The main took 3 hours and we ordered the set meal to make it easy.
Atmosphere, service, food, drinks everything was fabulous
Our experience at Indu Dining on a Friday night (30 Aug) was underwhelming. The ambience and service were OK, unfortunately food was just subpar and highly overpriced. The two of us, we ordered Sparkling water, Papadam with Chutney and Pickle, Kangaroo meat Spring Rolls, Polos Curry, Black Pork Belly Curry, Egg hoppers and Paratha. Except for the Spring rolls which were served hot, when the rest got to us, it was all cold. Polos and Pork belly curry were just bland, no taste or flavour to it. Nothing stood out as special.. It was a shame we wasted our meal here at this place.
Some quite delicious food in a cool space!
Updated Review to include more info based on feedback from Indu management. Service and atmosphere were good. I took sticky, devilled chicken. The devilled chicken did not have the Sri Lankan authentic Devilled saucy taste. Which is meant to be a unique sri lankan dish. I understand its Fusion , but its my opinion that it lacked the unqiness of the dish name. The taste of the dish was, however good. But the portion size was way too small. The menu was very limited only few dishes or options to choose from. This was disappointing. The prices of dishes were overpriced, and quantities were half of most other places for the cost. Mainly the sticky devilled chicken. Most full scale restaurants provide papadam complimentary and esp when its priced higher. Here, they charge for papadams as well and that too over $12. I paid by card and asked for a printed receipt, which was not provided. And had yo enter my email address, and when I got the reciept it was a generic email reply not even a properly generated one. I understand the requirement for digital but should have atleast given printed copy of card payment. Ive given a 3 star rating as the staff were nice and ambience was decent. But above point to be noted.
Definitely recommend this place! The food was incredible (I d recommend the egg hopper!) Georgia was a great waitress and the service was so good. I ll definitely be back!
Atmosphere and decor was great but the food could be improved. The eggplant starter dish was the standout though.
We received two eye rolling during the eating time, thanks for letting me know how mean and harsh you guys are. Except the lady who reserved us, you are very nice.
Food was really awesome and the service was great .
Ohhhh what a shame. I came here before COVID for my bday and the experience, food and staff was amazing I was so excited to come back and it was a flop from the get go. The two ladies at reception glanced at us and carried on their chat for 30 seconds before acknowledging us. Then we were led to our tables that were in a section for the 2 party tables. Jammed together so closely we had to hold onto our glasses as waitresses brushed by and at one point knocked off a ladies lovely jacket onto the floor. Our waitress was relatively hostile to be honest. At the end of the meal we said no thank you to anything else and then after about 7 minutes of not getting the bill (wouldn t that be a logical next step?) we asked for it and paid. The food - still fantastic and 5* stars. The service, barely a 3. That s probably generous. Not a huge range of veg options which is what I seemed to remember from last time. Jackfruit, cabbage or a nice tofu starter which I had for my main. Really disappointing!!
Absolutely stunning interior, food and service. We loved their tuna entree dish, beef tartare & the lamb riblets the most.
Interior is beautiful but the taste was a little disappointing. I m not sure if it s because they want to accommodate for a lot of taste buds, but I felt like the spices and taste were lacking. Would recommend for dinner catch up.
What did I just had! It was magical! I wasnt too hungry and unsure of the portion sizes so I just ordered some sides, very tasty! The service was excellent, I loved the fact that for each meal a different person was serving it and they were interacting with the customer as well. The interior itself is very beautiful, gives you a feeling of being in a military fortress and at the same time feels like an old temple or bakery. I was visiting from Melbourne, definitely will come back next time Im here to have the mains!
How many times I have come here refently ? I have lost counts. Love the authenticity and presentation. Service is very very impeccable too. I am coming back soon.
Definitely not for the people who are after authentic sri lanka food. But Atmosphere & service was great. Our child who cant handle spicy food loved it.
Overall experience was disappointing. Being a sri lankan myself but born in Aus I was keen to take the family to try some fusion.. however, everything was sub par and not worth the money at all. I do understand we do pay extra for the area it is placed in but yeah.. that alone couldnt make up for the price, quality and quantity difference compared to other sri lankan restaurants. We did get met warmly by staff but after ordering and getting our food.. staff was Mia or busy talking to each other. Be aware; after we ordered the waiter asled if wed like some papdums.. obiously we said yes but to my rude shock we got charged $16 for it where we thought it was complimentary. Nice old trick out the book on that one !! Nice venue and atmosphere though.
We had dinner here recently expecting good quality authentic srilankan/ Indian flavours. The decor and ambience is truly delightful. But thats where the goodness ends. We are used to kerala/ srilankan food and can confidently differentiate authentic from a mediocre affair. Well this truly was the latter. Tried their starters, small serves, hoppers, mains , desserts drinks the whole works. I personally found that the make up/combination of flavours in some off their items are truly off. Chaat burrata in particular the dish doesnt make any sense. Was too sweet. Burrata was out of place in that dish. The ingredients didnt go together well at all. The hopper combo with paneer was below average. The desserts were decent without being delectable. The person who served wasnt pleasant at all. Wrongly advised that a drink I requested wasnt available and later once I had ordered a different drink said it is available. The barramundi didnt have enough gravy. I found it very hard to shell out that amount of money for the quality of food and service on offer.
Seriously the best service I ve had in soo long .2nd best in my lifetime the staff are amazing, passionate and the chef goes out of the way to cater with dietary requirements. Highly recommend the barramundi and Smoked Goat Dosa. Atmosphere is cozy & warm and lots of options on the drinks list got a great GSM and the wife had one of their special hun cocktails . Really looking forward to coming back soon. Thank you exceptional staff @INDU
Grate atmosphere and the food not bad, however its different than classic Sri lankan food, mushroom dosa was grate, strings hopers and coconut sambal basic, koththu was different but it was nice, portion size average as any other restaurants around the area, worth to experience .
Ordered the tasting menu and it was niceeeeee Flavors were new and refreshing. Food
The gin tasting experience is excellent! Great atmosphere. Amazing food!
We loved the burrata dish and the sticky chicken (quite spicy). Fabulous paratha too. Not so impressed with the egg hopper or great lamb raan though.
Really wanted to love this place, however my high expectations were not sadly met. Dishes ordered were half great, and the other half just lacking in seasoning and spices. Shame because I love Sri Lankan food and was looking forward to eating a modern take on it. Overall: kottu and the aloo dosa were average, devilled chicken and egg hoppers were good. Atmosphere was lovely though.
Food was great, however unexpectedly so spicy that we actually couldn t really eat it. Portions are small. Plenty of vegan options. A very rude and pretentious British girl who was seating tables ruined our experience and just for this I wouldn t come back or recommend this place. For our table we were placed by the kitchen in a back corner, which was very undesirable as junk was thrown in the corner right by the table and the kitchen was so loud we couldn t hear each other talk. When we asked to move to another table nearby the waitress said no because the tables were arriving at different times. Then 2 (!!!) mins later that table arrived - and asked to sit at another table!!!! And the waitress said no. Couldn t believe this. After being seated, 2 different waiters came up to take our order within just minutes of sitting down. Then, no one noticed us for 20 mins and we ended up having to wait a long time to order. Staff were knowledgeable about the food though and happy to recommend. The tables at the back by the kitchen and toilets should be removed - they are not really part of the restaurant. We got another girl as our waitress in the end who was nice, hence the 2 stars for service.
Food is above average. Most customer service representatives are cocky and arrogant, especially the bald thin guy with glasses. Ambiance is nice but gets pretty loud with people.
Found this place through the website at Kids Kyoto, really loving the food. My first Sri Lankan food, but loving them. The curry is very subtle, reminds me of how people back at Indonesia make them. Just how I like it. The waitress who served us explained the menu very comprehensively it is like she knows and love all of the food there, give her a gold medal!
I really enjoyed my meal and dining experience. Thanks so much.
We had the sticky chicken and pork mains - amazing flavours and delicious. We had a mushroom and a potato dosa (ie a crepe!) for entree which were both delectable. The restaurant is underground in vaults partly shaped by convict hands - full of character and congeniality. The service was impeccable. A great place.
Made a Booking 3 weeks in advance for 5pm. Went there earlier around 4.30pm on Saturday the 4th just to ask if they allowed BYO. Simple question. Quick Answer. The menu was out front and all doors open. Walked in and the manager was on the phone in a heated conversation with someone. Did not acknowledge us which would have been the hospitable thing to do. THen came over and RUDELY said we are not open please go online to book. TRIED to tell him we have a booking and only need to ask a question but he talked over us. Managed to ask about BYO and was rudely told no and that they werent open yet. We know. We Know. Walked out and called up (and I think he answered) Said I want to cancel as possible he was rude to us and want to cancel with the cancellation fee as it was due to the managers rudeness and we dont feel comfortable in that environment. No Apology just cancelled. Did not confirm if no cancellation fee. The truly DISGUSTING thing about this is I am a carer, And I was taking my client with a disability there as a treat. To be treated so rudely and dismissively is truly repulsive from such a highly regarded restaurant. But I guess as it is hard to get a booking they SIMPLY DONT CARE ABOUT YOU. As they can fill the seats easily. Went to a redfern Lebanese restaurant which had great food and excellent service. Would have liked to try the food but if the owners cannot hire a person with even the most basic of hospitality skills then why even bother. Seriously. Just acknowledge people. Be pleasant. Apologise if required. Its not hard. Do better.
Went to fulfil my food cravings on a saturday night. I ordered three dishes recommended by the waiter and they were absolutely delicious. Pricing is reasonable for such a high quality restaurant. Atmosphere is better than it looks.
Our dining experience was excellent, thanks to the lovely young lady called Shefali who was kind, courteous, knowledgeable about the food on the menu, attentive and clean. The dining tables are cleverly placed, so we almost had a private experience!
Wow ! First time having Sri Lankan food and this place is a winner
We had lunch as 2 people and had amazing food based on the recommendations of our lovely waitress. We had starters which were dosa and goat plus hopper. Then we had the barramundi fish and devils chicken. It is a place we highly recommend! Food
The perfect dining experience.
We went to a sensational afternoon of gin tastings, delicious food, and live jazz. My absolute favourite was the fish crudo in a subtle coconutey green curry suce. But everything tasted so good Gin was excellent, too, but Im not sure I was able to judge after the 3rd one. Oh, wait! was it after the second one that I couldnt feel my face anymore? And maybe I should have started with the Jazz band, but they set the mood just right. Sultry voice and smooth vibes from the guitar We were very well looked after by extremely attentive staff. It was exceptional service Thank you, INDU Dietary restrictions: They asked us upon arrival
Went for a friends 50th, there were 12 of us. And wow! What a meal! Very authentic, can be spicy for some. The service was fantastic. Great selection of wine. I will definitely be back. Food
great service
This restaurant fell short of expectations despite my anticipation for an enjoyable srilankan dining experience. Upon arriving promptly for my 6:45 reservation, I was left waiting for the hostess for an additional 10 minutes. Fortunately, a sympathetic waitress took notice and seated me, though the delay was already setting a negative tone. Opting for the set menu, I faced another hurdle as I was informed that it wasnt available for solo diners, a detail that should have been communicated earlier. Consequently, there was another delay before I could place my order. Despite the initial hiccup, the Hiramasa kingfish entree was a highlight, with delightful flavors, though I deducted points for its lack of heat. However, the chickpea curry hopper, recommended by the hostess, failed to impress. It lacked the expected spice and fell short of the authentic taste I was hoping for. To compound matters, after enduring a mix-up with my order, I waited an exasperating 40 minutes for my mains, only to be informed of kitchen mishaps without an apology. The subsequent gesture of complimentary dried roasted chickpeas did little to mitigate the frustration. Ultimately, I regrettably had to cancel my order and depart, feeling immensely disappointed by the overall experience. For a restaurant specialising in South Indian/ Srilankan cuisine, the lack of attention to detail and delays were disheartening.
The portion sizes are a bit small. The food was tasty, fresh and well presented. The place is clean and well kept even though the entrance looks a bit dingy. The staff was friendly, helpful and prompt. On the whole a good experience and will visit again. Food
Georgia was one of our hosts very professional and engaging. Always nice when the people serving engage and provide awesome service! Highly recommend ! The team Georgia and Brian excellent service !
The food was excellent we ordered the $89 menu and ate our fill. Even though we hadnt booked a table they put us at a small table, we were warned that we might not get quick service, the service was impeccable!
This dining experience is unique and incredible! We booked last minute and we re accommodated exceptionally. The manager who served us was super friendly, helped us with our dietary requirements, always checked up on us, made sure food was on time, and helped us order just the right amount of food. He s featured in the back of our photo! All the food was spectacular, a highlight were the string hoppers and the smoked goat dosa.So yum. Such a perfect spin on Sri Lankan food. We ll be back for sure! Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating to dietaries. I came in GF And DF and was able to eat most foods
I really wanted to eat here. Made an appointment for 7th March for 12pm but unfortunately, I had a medical emergency which meant that I had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital. We managed to call them to cancel but we were charged $60. I called the restaurant later that day and they said to write in but they never got back to us. My sister also wrote in since it was under her name and she also did not receive a reply to the email. I dont know if they read their emails. I called them again but they were probably busy and didnt answer the phone. Their mail box is full so I could not leave a message. They dont answer their emails. So how does anyone contact them? All I want is a refund or to make another appointment to eat there and hopefully they let me use the $60 as a credit towards my next meal. I think their customer service is sadly lacking which makes me not want to eat there at all.
Most dishes were good. The lamb was bland. Where I was most disappointed was when we paid cash, instead of the restaurant losing $1, they came back to our table and told us sorry we don t have the correct change and placed just $2 change on the table with no other options being offered. I m unsure why the consumer is at a loss because the restaurant doesn t carry enough change. Instead of the restaurant losing $1, we lost $4 and while we don t care so much for petty cash, it s the principle here and that s enough for us to not return. Let me ask, if I was short on cash, would that be ok or would you be asking for an alternate payment method? If you don t carry adequate change, ask people to pay on card or take the loss yourself. Really appalling service.
Nice experience, highly recommended. Super attentive staff, relaxed environment and tasty food.
The food last night was amazing and was the service. Very attentive & friendly staffs who work very hard and deliver 100% The music somehow kinda was totally different to the ambience tho not sure if it was more for the kitchen staffs and we could hear it. Or it was actually picked by the person in-charge. The food and the ambience would go well with maybe rather SriLankan ambient music? Just a thought overall it was a great experience. Thank you
The bad: it could do with music a little bit softer. The good: The food was absolutely delicious. The service was great, from greeting through food recommendations and topping up our drinks. Georgia has to be the best waitress in Sydney. Highly recommend this place. Food
Delicious did, gin and jazz afternoon. Fabulous!
Average Indian. Not bad but nothing to write home about for what it is.
good food, great service, noisy basement, Cater for diners wishing g to eat before attending the Sydney Recital Centre
I love this place!! Delicate, fresh, and beautifully presented dishes. Mango lassi was so good too
Delightful evening. The Arrack based cocktails were my find in this visit. If you re not familiar with this cuisine then feel free to ask the friendly staff for help OR go the banquet. If you re ok with a bit of red meat, you ll love the goat Dosa.
The Valentine day set menu was pretty average. I go to a restaurant to eat tasty food. The egg hopper was great, but apart from that most items were average. Some tasted flat! So I m not returning. Once bitten twice shy!
The decor was captivating. The wait staff were super friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. And our table of four, who were unfamiliar with Sri Lankan cooking, found the delicious and beautifully presented dishes a real adventure to navigate. Will absolutely be going back again for another delightful experience.
Wasn t expecting authentic Sri Lankan. But I wasn t expecting eggplant soju to be eggplant with burger sauce flavour either. The ambience is fancy; nice and cozy restaurant underground with the perfect lighting for dinner. I only liked the jaffna barramundi; which had coconutty flavour. The goat dosa was an interesting take with a sweet bacon and raita on top. Mango lassi tasted like frozen mangoes. Nothing special.
INDU Sydney Heard the buzz about this Sri Lankan-Indian fusion joint so much so we got treated out there from family. INDU aint your average curry house. Think Bollywood meets Brooklyn, with vibrant murals, quirky furniture, and beats thatll make your head bob like a naan in a tandoor oven. Service is as warm as a chai on a monsoon night. Staff know their spices and recommend like fortune tellers with a serious case of the munchies. Food? Buckle up, spice lovers! First, Crispy Besan Fritters danced on my tongue, sweet potato hiding under a crunchy chickpea coat, dipped in tangy chutney and creamy mayo. The Smoked Goat Dosa was a revelation. Imagine a crispy crepe filled with melt-in-your-mouth goat, then slathered in smoky bacon jam and pomegranate. Cured Kingfish, oh wow. Imagine the ocean and a coconut grove had a baby, dressed it in peach and puffed rice, and drizzled it with coconut heaven. Next-level fresh. The Lamb Varuval Party Biriyani was the king of the feast. Slow-cooked lamb shoulder so tender it fell apart, nestled in fluffy rice fragrant with coconut, coriander, and mint. Sharing? If I have to INDU is more than a meal, its an experience. Its bold, its playful, its a party for your senses. So ditch the predictable curry and dive into this vibrant feast. Youll thank me later, with a napkin and a satisfied sigh. P.S. Next time, Im diving into the Sri Lankan Coconut Sambol and that sizzling Peppercorn Steak. See you there!
Food is not bad but compared to the price potions are pretty small. Staff is nice and rest is pretty good.
1. Slow service, nice staff however 2. Odd policy for parties over 8 - have to order off a strange set menu which has non veg options on both options, as a result our party had to split up 4+4 to order a la carte. 3. Menu items are not marked as veg or vegan 4. Puliodare was a sorry excuse - no Puli in the puliodare 5. Overpriced for the quantity - our whole party was hungry afterwards 6. Food was under salted 7. Very small menu, descriptions extremely vague 8. This isn t indian or sri lankan food - there is no flavor in the rice or the potato curry. I did hear the nonveg options are better so will point that out. 9. Entrance looks like you re entering a dungeon. Ambience inside was nice however.
Atmosphere of the place was beautiful, so was really excited to get the food. However, what I got was a white washed version of the foods I ve had growing up. Despite being tasty at times, the food lacked any reminiscence of traditional Indian flavors (especially the puliodaru rice which lacked any tamarind flavor). The staff, though incredibly kind, lacked any knowledge of Indian culture and food, pronouncing the names of dishes incorrectly, which is unacceptable at a restaurant that claims to be Indian. The menu also had sides like pickle acharu, which is the equivalent of calling a dish a naan bread. The food itself was alright, but most dishes were under salted. Loved the innovation on the mushroom dosa and the mango lassi, but I do think that most of the other dishes strayed too far from the source material, and thereby making the food more appeasing to a white audience. Also, the food was way too expensive for the quantity given, most of our party members left feeling hungry. In no world is six dollars for one paratha acceptable. My overall experience was a sad one, since my initial excitement, by the atmosphere and a prospect to see a new take on my favorite dishes, was slowly quelled throughout the meal as I realized that this restaurant was made by and made for white people
If you re in the mood for a modern take on Srilankan food, then this is is a great place to try. Tucked in a little alleyway in the heart of Sydney CBD, this restaurant is full of surprises. From its indescript front entrance which leads into a basement, we were immediately taken by the aesthetics of the place. Well designed and thoughtfully decorated, the food matched the aura of the place. We really enjoyed the cuttlefish kothu roti and the cocktails a bunch! The only critique is possibly the service as our drinks arrived after our food and only after we asked for it. Little details matter and this one was amiss in their service. Else, it s a lovely eatery with the charm of Srilanka in a modern setting.
Went here for an anniversary, we got the signature share meal and it was amazing. All the dishes were delicious and good portions for us. The staff were friendly and helpful and made the experience that much better.
First time dining at Indu and we will definitely return. Food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful with the menu.
Nice fushion modern restaurant, underground, cosy ambiance and great food
Good food, great ambience and excellent customer service. We ordered the signature menu and it was a journey to remember.. Special thanks to Sophie, who served us with a happy face and was very courteous.
Delicious food with excellent service from Georgia our waitress who was very knowledgeable and spot on with her recommendations ! This restaurant has now become a date night favourite Food
Came here for the valentines day set menu and loved every dish! Service was a bit slow between dishes but overall we had a great night. And will return to try the ala carte menu soon.
Indu does really delicious food, we ended up going for another round of their goat dosas because they were that good. The only thing that I can comment on is that the portions are a bit small. I mean it s kind of expected at fine dining places that food will come in smaller portions, but if I had to comment on something.
Wonderful dining experience at Indu! The staff were so friendly and easy to work with as we had to change our booking a couple of times! Would highly recommend Thai place for a special occasion! Food was incredible as well - good value for price.
Nice Asian food, good vibes, excellent service
Where lucky to get a table on a Tuesday evening. Delicious food and good service.
Lovely Sri Lankan / South Indian meal . Perfect place to pick for vegetarians
Beautiful venue, divine authentic food which is very vegan friendly, great wine and all the staff are so lovely. What more could you ask for? Cant wait to go back! Vegetarian options: They do an amazing vegetarian banquet which can easily be turning into a VEGAN banquet. So good!
Not if u r looking for Indian food .nothing for North Indian palate.they serve frozen Indian paratha.not recommend.
High quality delicious food with a wide variety of flavours. We had the classic feast for 3 people and there was so much amazing food. My favourite was the tuna croquettes and the beef hoppers. The atmosphere is also really great, enough lighting on the food but not on anyones faces, we really enjoyed sitting in the booths. Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options and set menu. Dietary restrictions: They said they are open to catering for any dietaries.
Lovely place and one of the most colorfull foods we ever had. Purely loved it. Nice cocktails and wines on the menu, friendly personell and we were quickly serviced. Perfect really. Dietary restrictions: Survived with my peanut and nut alletgies
Amazing service, great food and gorgeous presentation. We tried the Indu Feast and everything that was served was fantastic. The impressive part was that they cater for your dietary requirements too so you can still enjoy the food without any worries.
I LOVE this place! The food is delicious! As soon as you walk in, design, the smell of spices, and the excitement of a feast Vegetarian options: Vegetation options are so delicious! Flavor rush not just chilly
Great Ambience.. Unfortunately the food when it came was cold to luke warm..
OMG! Just wow as far as food is concerned
Each dish was delicious! And a nice variety to choose.
I was blown away, never visited this place before but upon visiting, the staff was very attentive/kind, would like to visit again with my other mates. I wish I could give more than 5 stars . Well done INDU. Thanks for leaving me impressed . 10/10
We were in a mood for some flavours from Indian subcontinent & so were very excited to find Indu. Our experience at the restaurant was very disappointing & underwhelming. The menu seemed innovative but sadly it did not preserve the authenticity of the dishes served. Hoppers are hoppers, they are pillowy & soft in the center. What was served were just flat crepes with some random fillings. I call them random because for example Kadala is not boiled chickpeas and pumpkin. Apart from hoppers, we ordered a dosa that came swimming in oil, it was disgusting! The portion size also is tiny, so not only do you not get quality, but you also dont get quantity too. We left our meal as it was & finally had a satisfying meal from Jimmys Felafel next door. In a nutshell, this restaurant is overpriced, has food with no flavours and, thus, is not recommended.
Too less in portions... Didnt feel srilankan at all... Wont recommend at all Someone suggested us at the door dont go... Not good but we still thought to give it a shot...waste... Food : 1/5
Amazing food and great service! Had a great experience!
I recently visited INDU Dining and was impressed with the quality of the food. The flavors were bold and delicious, and everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. However, while the food was fantastic, I have to say that the service was just okay. The staff was friendly enough, but it did seem like they were a bit understaffed and werent able to give each table the attention they deserved. In terms of pricing, I found INDU Dining to be a bit on the expensive side. While the food was definitely worth it, I do think that some of the dishes were a bit overpriced. Overall, I would recommend INDU Dining for the quality of the food alone. If youre looking for bold and delicious cuisine, this is definitely a spot to try. However, be prepared for slightly higher prices and dont expect the service to be top-notch.
THIS PLACE!!! The most unexpected food I have ever experienced. Our server Mark guided us the whole way through from start to finish, and it was all incredible. We ordered the 4 courses blindly and absolutely everything was delicious and unlike anything I have eaten prior. The staff is so friendly, and the restaurant atmosphere is so unique and feels a little bit like home. We visited from the U.S. and hope anyone who is reluctant to go will just do it!!! 10/10 100% ***** all around!
Had lunch .
Our waitress Georgia was lovely, Prompt and attentive . Very considerate with getting to us on time . Food was delicious and unique. Best Indian food I have had. Fav was the king fish sashimi but all dishes were a pleasure
A very enjoyable evening from people who genuinely understand the meaning of hospitality. It is so much nicer to feel like a welcome guest than a customer to be processed. The food, the atmosphere, and the service hit the spot perfectly. Looking forward to going back. Vegetarian options: Vegan options - even better!
I ordered potato dosa which was cold and small in size literally cold @ $20. It s not recommended.
Awesome food, reasonably priced for the quality
Funky place.. food was pretty good, staff were a bit how ya going My chicken main was great, entree s were humdrum.. but I would recommend to visit once.
Pathetic plates - aluminium plate which have chipping off non stick coating. They dont know how to make and serve dosa. Tiny dosa with potatoes and burnt chips. They have customised food to suit their needs . Try to visit some authentic Indian restaurant to get the real dosa which is served with sambhar ( lentil soup) and chutney.
Very tasty food. They are more of Sri Lankan with an Indian touch. Portions are a bit too smaller for the price..! But the food is so delicious..!! Nice architecture too.!!
Parking: Use public transport Kid-friendliness: Its kid friendly but difficult to take prams. Food : 5/5 |
Great srilankan food. I felt it was more fusion food. The location and ambience is good. The overall taste was great, not too expensive. Service can be improved , it took too long for orders to reach the table. Must visit if you are a fan of Sri Lanka food.
If you fancy Indian cuisine in a dimly lit basement which is likely no better than your local Indian but 3 times the price, then this should be the perfect venue.
A gaggle of us had lunch there yesterday. It was just brilliant.
We had lunch yesterday. Ordered lamb curry - sumptuous size but no Indian flavour - had really no salt or masala and waited to get salt shaker - but place is very short on help, service is good courtesy but hard to find. Sabudana fritters are actually corn fritters and very chewy! Overall disappointing !!
Second time and no regrets coming back! It was a quick bite for lunch and food was flavorsome, great portions and the service was once again superb! ***************** Impromptu lunch! Excellent service, great selection of dishes and quite a humble ambiance!
Great food, great taste and awesome setting
Service wasn t the greatest - very slow and inattentive, stood at the door for a good few minutes. Food was hit and miss. We loved the lamb dosa, and the tuna croquettes was nice. The great lamb raan however was not so great. Like other reviews noted the lamb was dry, and the sauce was too sweet and rich.
Love the venue! Underground with gorgeous huge bowls of spices sending inviting aromas into the room as you enter. The atmosphere was good, not too loud. We were in a comfy booth for 4 people. Cosy but not too small. We all had a cocktail to start which were unique and tasty. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We didn t go for the banquet as we thought it would be too much food. We were very happy with our choices. The only negative was a bottle of wine the lovely friendly waiter suggested, at the end of the night was terrible. Must have been a cheap one marked up to an expensive price. I expect he thought we wouldn t notice as we had a few drinks by then. Overall I highly recommend Indu and I hope we go back again!
Had a large table and therefore the Banquet, which was cheerfully and easily adapted to suit the diners tastes and allergies etc. Its an amazing decor and ambience, attending service and wonderful food and variety. Tasted authentic, fresh and full of flavours. Gotta say this is soooo much better than the Melbourne branch, which lacks atmosphere and quality of food. Highly recommend if you want some South Asian food with a difference. INDUlge yourself!
Went here recently and had the signature set menu. It was incredible. The food was flavoured to perfection, each dish was absolutely delicious. The restaurant itself is beautifully styled. We were served by Georgia who was an absolutely perfect hostess, so charming and welcoming and funny; we were more than happy to tip her for her incredible service. Will definitely be coming back again.
This restaurant is fabulous! First time I ve ever had Sri Lankan cuisine, but I can t imagine it getting any better than this!!! Delicate, balanced flavours. Lovely ambience (cosy and groovy). Great service. Good wine list. Some really memorable dishes that I would happily eat every week! So many wonderful vegetarian dishes, but also great pescatarian, lamb and goat! The cuttlefish roti was a stand out: chewy and crispy and spicy. Kale salad freshened up the slow cooked lamb. Will definitely come back regularly.
Very cool vibe the mains were nice the smaller dishes werent that big. Something different.
Sorry to say this place is not an Indian food place although they claim to be south Indian and srilankan it seems they are using Indian name just to bring customers I would request owners not to mention south Indian in their menu
The food was amazing, and they were able to cater for food allergies / celiac without any issues. Dietary restrictions: Very supportive of dietary requirements and allergies. Able to cater for celiac with no issues
Great experience! Highly recommend!
Enjoyed a fantastic meal at INDU Dining, my second after a long hiatus. The meal was superb and Mark the waiter was brilliant in his service and recommendations along with the rest of the staff. We ve been to Sri Lanka before and found the food served at INDU a great compliment to dishes we experienced there. Thanks for a great evening.
Absolutely delicious! Amazing service - best restaurant in Sydney hands down!!!! Dietary restrictions: Dairy Free Gluten Free
We ve been going to Indu for years and never had a bad meal. Went tonight and it exceeded expectations - again. Served by the lovely Georgia who recommended dishes we would never usually have ordered, but definitely will be again. Wine, food, ambience all lovely. Always feels like great value for the meal you have. 11/10 would recommend!
Food was fantastic, not a bad thing on the menu. Service was also top class. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The food was also serve surprisingly quickly even on a busy Saturday night. My only complaint is that the restaurant can get quite loud when busy, to the point where it can be difficult to hear people on the other side of you table. Location is also great, like a 1 minute walk from Wynyard station.
Interesting and modern twist on traditiinal Sri Lankan food that we love. Not the most child friendly establishment.
Excellent food, wine and service. Staff friendly and helpful. Dont be put off by the entrance.
Attended during lunch with my colleagues - the meal was delicious and the service was excellent. However, I thought the price didn t match the value that was provided. The $20 hopper left me wanting more but with not enough time to order more. If I was to visit again, I recommend ordering the hopper in conjunction with some other dishes.
We visited last Saturday with friends and family, and let me tell you, Indu was truly incredible, breaking the mould of tradition to put its original spin on Sri Lankan classics. The paneer hopper, eggplant, jaffna curry, and cocktails were excellent. The hoppers especially had a delicate, lacy texture, almost too beautiful to eat. We ended the perfect meal with a dessert special for International Rum Day. The Rum Baba stole the show with its fiery spectacle and tasted even better than it looked. I can t wait to come back!
Taste wise, food was great. We tried the egg hoppers, potato dosa, sabudana vadai and Jaffna barramundi. Restaurant is kept near and tidy. Only downside was probably the portions. Since the taste was good, we ordered another round of food. The cost probably being in the city and so close to the light rail is on the pricier side, thats understandable. Parking: Parking unavailable outside the restaurant. You can go to one of the paid parkings mentioned on their website.
The food taste and quality, presentation, is beliw average compared to the bomb they charge and quantity they serve. The pratha tastes like frozen... it is unexpected of restaurant if this stature. Food
Great venue, great food and great service- Georgia s gave us the perfect recommendations. Also their pre-show option was very much appreciated. Thanks
What a hidden gem? And with fabulous staff. Georgia looked after us so well, with very prompt service, awesome recommendations and always with a smile. Food was delicious and such an interesting/quirky venue. Highly recommend Food : 5/5
My favourite restaurant in Sydney. Great food, great service, great ambience. So good!
I highly recommend this place - had dinner here 25th July 2023. The 2 of us had a fabulous time. Great food, curated drinks, pleasant atmosphere & outstanding service. Special mention to our waitress, Julia, who did a wonderful job!
For our group of ~15, it took so long for the mains to come out that quite a few gave up and left before it was served. The food is fine, but not great. For $79 set menu price per person there was little variety - just a single curry with rice/bread as a main. Dessert was essentially a half frozen slushie with a spherical piece of an underripe melon. Wait staff do a great job but let down by the kitchen.
If you want to experience authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, this is a great place to go to. We tried the INDU Feast and by the time the dessert was served, we were so full. Overall great service and all the food served was delicious and we enjoyed the experience. Vegetarian options: They were able to swap non-vegetarian options in the INDU Feast menu.
The food is pathetic. The dosa is no where close to an actual dosa. There was no chutney and the size is small, a total rip off
Id recommend Lankan filling station as its more authentic. The portions and main selections for vegetarians are limited
Absolutely amazing! Loved everything on my plate!
Great food , brilliant ambience and the best curated vegetarian food available! A must try for the best modern Indian cuisine food in AUS.
Loved the overall vibes of the place. food is good too. But some of the staff very rude and inhospitable.
We had a great dining experience. The food was tasty and we especially liked the deviled chicken.
My first time trying out Sri Lankan food. Came with colleagues with a couple of Sri Lankan. The food was very tasty but marked down because it wasnt very authentic. More a fusion. We had the top set menu. Prices not cheap. Service was impeccable and was expected for such venue. We had a small private area which was perfect for our group. Would definitely come back again.
Great food and service
Fantastic shared menu! Ask for vegetarian option!
Attentive service, tasty gin cocktails, they did forget my request for a bday sparkler.
Went here last night for dinner and was disappointed. We initially ordered the Hiramasa kingfish but changed our mind almost immediately and asked for the goat dosa instead which was lost in communication and we never got it served to us. Sabudana vada was a total buster. Had more corn in it than sabudana and was over fried and oily and quite tasteless. The mint chutney served with it you could tell it wasn t made fresh. The Idiyappam was delicious but cold. Would ve tasted better had it been warm. Chicken was very delicious but basmati rice ordered to go with the chicken very dry. Not even an iota of moisture to it so was difficult to down considering the chicken didn t have gravy. They shouldn t call it the lamb raan as it wasn t a raan in any sense. Will never revisit.
Very disappointing experience. The food was very unpleasant. The service was mediocre at best. We ordered the cuttlefish, which was more of an oily soup with vegetables and roti bread drenched in oil. There were three and half pieces of fish, and the taste was unpalatable, due to all the oil. When the server came by to ask if everything was okay, we told him what happened, he brought the maître, who spoke to the kitchen staff. He agreed the amount of fish was unacceptable, but said the dish was meant to made with that amount of oil. He asked if we wanted something else, but with the experience kind of ruined, it felt like a mute offer. We just nibbled on the other dish, which was the barramundi, and we paid and left. The cuttlefish was removed from our bill. The barramundi was alright. A decent filet of fish, but way too spicy, even for someone who likes spicy Indian food. The server should have asked what spice level I wanted or told me that the dish was very spicy. Also, the barramundi comes with absolutely nothing on the side, so you are expected to get a side with that. I ordered a paratha, which was very nice, and not what you would typically get, but the other options for sides were limited (basmati rice or puliyodrai rice). In terms of service, we were greeted a very friendly staff member, who walked us to our table. The rest of staff walked by with smiles and they all said hello. However, our server was a bit pushy on the drinks and once we made it very clear we didn t want any drinks, his demeanor changed and he became quite impatient. Of course, when we told him about the dish being drenched in oil and having just three and a half pieces of cuttlefish, he didn t take that well either. Overall, I would stay away.
First time here and was blown away!!! Fantastic food! Great playlist on the tunes. Staff more than helpful and happy to explain everything on the menu. Most definitely visit again.
The portion of food was so small although we ordered from the large section of the menu.
Nice place for lunch,
Great food and atmosphere. Will come again.
Its ok , but very oily , average food nothing special
Went here for a date night/anniversary and it was a fantastic experience. The service was really good and the food was phenomenal. It s tucked away down a small staircase on Chine Lane in Wynyard next to some of Sydney s most exclusive restaurants, but don t let that put you off from coming here. The price is reasonable for the quality of food and service. Food is more of a fusion cuisine combining flavours from multiple Southern-Asian dishes. The restaurant is founded on the idea of bringing Sri-Lankan village food to a fine dining experience and they really pull this off. The devilled chicken was on the hot side but the cuttlefish was absolutely perfect. I d love to come back and try their barramundi dish. Also, you can t leave here without trying the sticky date pudding!!
All staff was kind and have knowledge about menu well. All dishes were tasty. We wanted to stay longer but 2hours only we could.
Loved it. The ceviche was a highlight, I never had ceviche with coconut and was pleasantly surprised. The eggplant hopper was delicious as well. I would say the starters were better than the mains. The curries were a bit on the bland side, but still good. Great interior and vibe.
5 of us went to dinner at Indu last night. We loved everything we were served! We ordered the signature feast and a few cocktails. The server was lovely and you could tell that he took his job very seriously and really cared about our experience. 100% would recommend.
I got the vegetarian set menu, food was great and service was amazing staff were all super friendly very accommodating with our dietary requirements Vegetarian options: great vegetarian options
Great food, nice service. There is plenty of seating for a party of any size. The main entrance is from the side lane.
Amazing ambience, friendly service and incredible food, overall great dining experience
Absolutely scrumptious food. Gorgeous wines. Great atmosphere. While not the cheapest, the prices are certainly not the most expensive in the area (next door looked like it was almost 50% more!). A filling meal with dessert and a glass of wine was $60pp. And OMG worth it. The dosa were just mouth watering; desserts are very sweet, but nevertheless delicious. All the food was beautifully presented. Had to try a few times to get the wait staffs attention, but after we did so they were impeccable.
Unique experience, nice food. Good variety of vegetarian food. Had a team dinner and loved it.
Amazing atmosphere, cool eclectic decor. Fantastic food options that were modern twists on traditional Sri Lankan cuisine, colourful, tasty, creative presentations and a great value degustation-style banquet option as well as al la carte choices.
Amazing Fine dining experience!! Delicious food, impeccable service and cozy atmosphere! Very cool and inviting entryway. Cuisine was very flavourful and beautifully presented. Highly recommend if you are in Sydney city centre and looking for Indian-Sri Lankan fusion restaurant! Best dish was Chaat Burrata
Indu was one of the most unique and fine restaurant experiences I have been to, serving a flavorful selection of modern Sri Lankan cuisine. My highlight dish was the smoked goat dosa, it was very aromatic yet not overly smokey while still maintaining a punchy flavour. Many of the other dishes we tried were of similar excellence in their unique aromatic flavours, including the sticky devilled chicken, Parippu Daal and Jaffna Barramundi. Additionally, their sides of bread and rice were beautifully crispy and fluffy each respectively. My only food criticism is with their Colombo King Prawns. Despite being coated in a rich sauce, they were too overcooked and were way overpriced considering that three prawns were served for $48 ($16 per prawn). I really enjoyed the moody atmosphere that completely separates you from the outside, transporting you to another exotic world that compliments the unique flavours of their aromatic Sri Lankan cuisine. The tables were nice and large to provide plenty of room for each person and the various meals ordered. Most tables were in booths, making the experience feel more private and specialised. Their staff were friendly and attentive, ready to explain any part of the menu and will happily make reasonable adjustments to the menu if needed. Thus ordering dishes was easy and straight forward despite the somewhat unfamiliar menu.
Lovely restaurant with a difference. We loved their take on dosas - besides the usual masala dosa with potato bhaji, they had others like mushroom masala and goat masala. The masala dosas were served open which was also interesting. The entrees are also excellent - esp the one with roasted chick peas. We were in a rush and had just over half an hour to be served, to eat and leave. Their friendly yet efficient staff absolutely understood that we left on time. Would love to be back with more time on our hands.
Look, it was ok. Another Sydney restaurant serving teeny tiny meals at overwhelmingly unjustifiable prices. Waitress was super friendly and informative despite the md almost having a menty b trying to find us a table (unsure why as once inside there was plenty of space that never got filled up). It was loud and not intimate inside. Not in a hurry to return. Rose Garden cocktail was yummy - loved the rose petal presentation.
Back in July when we were in Sydney, went to Indu for lunch. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to experience Sri Lankan/south Indian cuisine. Our spice tolerance is quite high so would have probably like a little bit more spice and slightly bigger portion sizes but the food in general were of great quality. Tasty and presented very well! Great place to go to introduce Sri Lankan cuisine to your non Sri Lankan family and friends.
I love this joint, your senses are intoxicated by the smells of the spices upon arrival. Ive been 6 times and theyve been consistent across the board. Excellent service, fantastic fit out, buzzy vibe and the food is sensational.
Not polite at all.. Extremely rude in conversation... Bad body language
Just awesome!
Wonderful place, food is amazing, plenty of vegetarian options, outstanding service. 15 of us and all served at the ae time. Loved it.
Indu Dining stands out with its outstanding food, featuring a delightful blend of flavours and decent portion sizes that satisfy the taste buds. The lamb briyani, while flavorful, could be improved by reducing the fat trimmings, providing a more balanced experience. In terms of service, theres a mixed experience. The waitstaff attending to our table were generally attentive, ensuring our needs were met. However, there were instances where we had to wait for service or signal someone for attention. Our initial entry to the restaurant also had a brief delay, requiring a few minutes before someone attended to us. Despite these minor hiccups, the dining experience at Indu was generally enjoyable.
Beautiful and bold flavours in the deviled chicken. The string hoppers were light, fluffy and very fresh. The sticky date pudding was amazing, the jaggery sauce with a hint of ginger was a nice touch.. (corrected typos! :))
