The food is expensive and you dont taste the authenticity of Mexican cuisine.

Place has great good, the people are awesome. Just find their organization a bit off on random days. But these guys are awesome.

Extremely long wait for food. Portion size was not what I was expecting for a Mexican restaurant, like a tiny amount of rice and beans. Enchiladas were also on the small side. Very loud restaurant, not the place to go if you are looking for good conversation.

As long as you re okay with fairly high prices, this is the place to go! I always have the beef burrito and it never fails. Have been with my family many times, and we all love it.

Usually quite a busy little restaurant. Have eaten here several times. The food is good, last visit the service was very slow (perhaps short staffed that day?).

The pulled pork on the tacos and enchiladas was very dry and the salad came with an odd mix of beans and peas and had no dressing. Sadly an overall lack of good flavors.

The phyllo chicken stuffed with crab and red pepper, along with a salad topped with chickpeas and homemade dressing was very flavourful!! Highly recommend visiting this restaurant when in Terrace!!

Over all a fairly nice place though they do need to update the prices on their drink menu, the prices on the receipt were different from what the menu said because it was old. All food prices were accurate and up to date though. Vegetarian options: You can ask to have any meat items removed from the burritos and enchiladas. Probably more but thats what our vegetarian friend did~ Kid-friendliness: The quesadillas are really the only thing there when we went for kids, you could get mashed potatoes on the side though too.

Bestest restaurant in Terrace.

The enchiladas were okay but the chicken was bland with negligible chili flavour. No horchata or flan or anything other than common Canadian versions of Mexican food. The ambiance was okay but lacked notable Mexican decor or even Latin music. It felt they arent really trying to be an authentic Mexican restaurant and more like a cafe with some hints of Mexican cuisine. The service was acceptable but did not make us feel special considering we were there for a special occasion and had to give several reminders to the server to get a candle on the desert cake. The food and experience were just barely at an acceptable level of authenticity to be called Mexican. The chocolate cake and coconut lime desserts were delicious, characteristic of a cafe. Overall, it was an okay experience but should be classified as a restaurant-cafe with great desserts and some Mexican-Canadian cuisine.

I love this place

Well, I was told this was a place not to miss on my next trip to Terrace and I really wanted to like it. But Ill be honest, you can definitely miss this place and look elsewhere. I dont have a lot of positives unfortunately, the main complaint (which we brought up) was the almost an hour wait for food, then 20mins for desert afterwards, lack of drink orders or coming by. When it wasnt really busy, this wasnt justified. And only got one apology when we said cancel the desert, and then it magically just appeared. I have the paella, which is putting it nice. In no way, shape, form or taste could this be considered one. Maybe call it Paella inspired, or a Mexican Version inspired by. But no. It was bland, it had ground breakfast sausage (if it wasnt breakfast, it was still ground, I mean theres a great butcher shop use them), overcooked frozen shrimp, no proper protein (chicken, duck), 2 tiny clams (frozen) and 3 mussels. It was edible, it was good, but definitely disappointed on all fronts and the poor service was just the icing on the cake to make this a never to go again.

We waited over an hour for soon to be there, though it was a party, and she kept insisting that everybody in the party had to be there before we were served at food. It was ridiculous and by the time we got our food, it was lukewarm.

The food feels like its something you could be eating at home, whole ingredients not fried, you dont leave feeling bloated. It was exactly what I was looking for and they catered to our three year old making up a fruit platter for her off menu. Thanks Kid-friendliness: There isnt a kids menu, despite it not really being a family restaurant they were welcoming and accommodating

Home-made style mexican food with high-end prices. Food was good but $30 for a burrito and some rice and beans is insane. Big plates but nothing spectacular. The vibe was hard to nail down. It seemed to be attempting to be fancy (low mood lighting, modern art, softer music) but had rickety tables and no menus (have to stand up to look at a board in the center). Service was very friendly but slow, not $30 per plate level. Vegetarian options: A few vegetarian options listed, no vegan items on the menu (but able to accommodate) Dietary restrictions: A few items can be made vegan.

My first time here as I am visiting my sister in Beautiful Terrace. Excellent food and amazing desserts. Highly recommended I met the owner she is very nice and our waiter was amazing

Food is above average but service needs improvement; wanted to order more drinks but only one server for the whole restaurant, my bottle was sitting empty for the entire dinner; also $30 dollar burritos; the lamb is really good; came here to celebrate our anniversary but left with a bad experience; i dont recommend for special occasions - come here for the grilled lamb or steak

Awesome food. Ribs, chicken, lamb with a Mexican twist and other more traditional Mexican dishes. Sophie, our server was awesome, expert advice on the menu, attentive and friendly. Talked to use for 10inutes. Margarita was outstanding.

Had a delicious lunch Spicy Chicken Pad Thai the serving was a lot more than I expected I barely finished it but it tasted so good I couldnt stop eating. I will definitely be back for more Vegetarian options: I didnt try any Kid-friendliness: I saw younger people there

Hadnt been here in a few years. Wasnt very impressed with the food. Lamb was inconsistently cooked. The burrito was also lackluster. Portioning wasnt bad otherwise. Service felt very slow considering how empty it was.

Never disappointed!

They seem to struggle with the difference between vegan and vegetarian. So be clear about no cheese or sour cream if you order a vegan meal. Vegetarian options: They made the enchiladas vegan and gluten free for me. Dietary restrictions: Vegan and gluten-free options when requested

Great tasting Salsa! Staff very accommodating and they have a varied menu. We dined as a group of 7 and separate bills were provided. Everyone enjoyed their selections. Good sized portions.

Slow service, food is not near as good as it used to be and the place could use a good scrub.

The food here is really good but be prepared for subpar service at best. I have been eating here for years and not really sure what the deal is but the service is notoriously lousy. Just go with that in mind, be patient and enjoy some great food! Peanut butter chocolate pie is a must!

Great fresh food, no loud music, you can talk with your partner while having a great meal, and the deserts are hug ( and fantastic) recommend the carret cake.

Wonderful place. The atmosphere is so good and relaxing. My lamb chops were perfectly cooked and tasty. The service is nice, efficient and not intrusive . I have one regret...... is that I have to leave tomorrow and wont be able to come back here to have another great experience. Congratulations.

Tried once. Superb food, a bit pricey $19 for salad, Entrées $25 to $35, included tortilla chips and salsa when seated. Menu on whiteboard and may change frequently? Service was a little slow but it got busy right when it opened for supper. Food came fast after ordering.

Great tex mex, unexpected in such a small city. Had fall off the bone ribs in a coffee ancho bbq sauce, but the chicken enchiladas looked great as well.

I had the Chicken Enchilada and it was amazing! The chicken was well flavored and the salad had a great dressing on it. It all tasted like heaven in my mouth. I would totally recommend!

Had a chicken with fried on the outer layer and stuffed inside with sweet sauce and pepper. It was so delicious and fulfilling. Coming back.

asked the waitress if they had an iced coffee drink that was previously on the menu, and when they didnt she made me an iced coffee from the coffee they had. very great service

Awesome food, large portions (we had to share our dish) which they accommodated by splitting our single dish onto two plates. They have an amazing cocktail and dessert menu - which we certainly took advantage of! We were very impressed with the service and overall atmosphere. Menu can be tough to read if you are sitting in a certain spot of the restaurant.

Overpriced and overcooked from the salmon to the bbq ribs to not-so-fresh greens with my beet salad and shrimps. Chicken tacos were enjoyed by my 12 year old son as well as the ice teas, seems to be the only redeeeming ones. Service was good.

I ve been here numerous times over the years, I travel from out of town and love it here. Reservations are recommended as it s a small place. Food is amazing and the desserts are fantastic as well. Great service. Love coming here!

Delicious and good service.

I m sad that I have to give 3 stars here because I feel like this place has so much potential. I m hoping that they may have just goofed on my order, but goofed it nonetheless. I ordered the chipotle beef burrito as takeout and I got three separate box containing my very own build a burrito kit. All I want is a burrito and not an edible bean version of Picasso s Guernica. I just ended up eating it with a spoon. On a more positive note however I will say that the Double Chocolate layer cake was spectacular and mitigated the damper created by the burrito. I will one day give another try maybe.

Great food, great location.

A good restaurant, but not anywhere near the level that it was hyped up to be. We have been to many Mexican restaurants and have lived in Mexico for a year. The prices are a bit on the high side, although the portion size was good. I had a burrito and it was quite dry. My wife had an enchillada and there was no sauce with it. The service was very good but slow. I was surprised that we had to pay $4 for nachos and salsa while waiting. We dined at around 4pm, before the rush and got in without a reservation. The place was packed by the time we left. I still recommend going, but its not five stars.

My wife and I always make an effort to go to Don Diegos whenever we travel from the north. They have plenty of delicious meals to choose from and even have vegetarian and gluten free options that my wife can have. We enjoy seeing and catching with Sofia whenever we come in. Thank you for such wonderful food.

Food: 8/10 Ambience: 9/10 Service: 3/10 Made a reservation which is highly recommended. It got packed very quick for dinner. I got my table quick as it was ready for me (@7:00pm). Sat down, 5 mins later I was given some complimentary nachos and salsa. This probably saved the night for me. I was told the menu is on the white board. You can see I can barely see half the menu from where I sat. So I ordered the striploin steak, first one of that board (@7:10pm). Ì looked around most people were waiting long for food. There were only two servers with the entire restaurant packed! I started doing some social media while munching on those nachos. They really saved the night!! They had good music playing, so thankful for that as well. Other than asking for drinks, the server never really came during that hour. At 8:13 my main was served!! Thats a little over an hour . I went in super hungry and I wasnt even sure if I was hungry anymore after waiting an hour and having that small tray of chips during the whole time. Food was good, probably great. Honestly not worth waiting one hour for though. A couple across the room for me also mentioned to waitress they have been waiting an hour, although I know they came in after me. So in conclusion, would I go back again? Probably not. Would I recommend their food? Yes.

What a great plate of lamb chops I had and peanut butter chocolate pie I may never forget. Very nice people kept the place open well past closing until our group of 20 were all full and happy. Great place!

Had an amazing vegetarian taco! Accompanied by a wonderful salad typed with a homemade dressing that made me wanting more! Can har5wsit to go back. :-)

Gaelic rosemary Bone in lamb chop with blueberry sauce. Absolutely amazing. Highly recommend stopping in and experiencing the fresh menu that they have to offer. Starts off with tasty salsa and chips. Very good experience. Friendly waiters as well!

Don Diegos food is always hot, fresh, tasty and different that the same-old thing. Much more than Mexican, everyone at the table will be happy with their meal. Get there early for the best selection as the menu board gets erased as the evening progresses. Cant beat the San Francisco foggy for dessert!

EDIT 2020: Wait times are still quite long and the whole environment feels quite unorganized (still no notepads), however, the service was phenomenal and our waitress was amazing! EDIT 2019: Went back a few more times and experienced extremely long wait times and quite poor service as they are extremely understaffed. The wait staff also does not use notebooks so we had many items wrong or even completely missed. ORIGINAL: Delicious food, authentic environment, great music and friendly staff. The downsides are long wait times for food, lack of staffing so requests (like drink refills) take extremely long, if remembered at all and the prices are slightly more expensive.

Every meal I have had at Don Diegos has been delicious and cooked perfectly. Always enjoy a slice of Peanut butter pie to finish the evening.

Always a pleasure eating here. The daily menu always has meals with perfectly matched flavour profiles, great portion sizes, and a desert menu thats to die for. Im pretty frugal, so I believe the price to he a tad high, but I am never left disappointed when I come here.

Great food always look forward to the dessert .

It was great, lunch was wonderful. The burrito was well crafted and hit the spot. Even during the pandemic it had a nice atmosphere. Fish tacos were also very tasty.

Accessibility: - crowded space with unfixed chairs and tables. Does not appear chair accessible. Bathrooms could use grab handles, lower angled mirror, soap and paper towel. Service: - As our first visit how are we to know that the menu is on the wall. Terrible service. Inattentive staff. Food: the food is good, authentic, and good portions. The service is slow however, so this is not the place for a quick bite. But for a good wholesome meal it is very good. However, accessibility and service cannot be overlooked.
