Korean Izakaya
Was here for BBQ with family. I love how they serve various fresh Banchan[side dishes]. It's one of the best in town. Unfortunately, it was so busy having only two servers, which is really little for BBQ restaurants. We had to ask at least three times to get extra utensils, orders, and drinks. Otherwise, it's very recommended.
They posted advertising online but when we mentioned, they said change of management and they will just honour it one per table for this time only. But online was per head, not per table. If no promotion, price is on the high side and nothing special. I would rather go to other Korean restaurants than this one.
Came here on the weekends at 6:00pm, and they are not busy. We did make reservations because we have a large group of 14 people. They managed to set us up on one long table. We order mainly Korean BBQ items, and everything is fresh. They started cooking/grilling for you, which is super nice! We ordered their homemade Makgeolli (Rice wine). Which i like it. Services are really good here. Parking is almost full when we arrive. I will come back and try other Korean dishes beside BBQ for sure.
I visited Sojubang today (July 20) and had a mixed experience. When we arrived, it wasn’t very busy, but as soon as we ordered, the dinner rush began, and the restaurant got quite busy. Part of our food arrived fairly quickly, which was nice. However, our BBQ combo, which was supposed to come with soup and two rice servings, didn’t arrive until we were almost done with our meal. We had to ask the server for it, which was disappointing. We also requested a refill of three side dishes and had to remind the server twice, but they never came. The food itself tasted okay, but the service left much to be desired. Additionally, for a BBQ place, the air conditioning was not strong enough, making it uncomfortable during the summer months. Moreover, it was pretty pricey for the portion of BBQ meat we received. Overall, while the food was decent, the service, portion sizes, and lack of adequate air conditioning made the experience less enjoyable.
All the food were great nice and open spaces. I would go again to have. Few things keep in mind are it was super cold sitting by the window or by the wall when I was visiting. Recommend to sit in the middle in the winter time or cold weather. Cups, side dish plates, and cutlery were all disposable. It would be nice if I get served proper dishes and cutlery. I’ve checked someone’s review that the owner has favour to take care of certain customers. I also agree. I had quite nice atmosphere only along my friends that night which I really enjoyed, but I can hear she was busy chatting on other tables to tables and loudly chatting and greeting in front of of doors who she recognized specifically.
A very nice restaurant, just not sure why not a lot of customers during weekend dinner time. The meat dish we ordered are really nice, also the tteokbokki. They can refill the side dishes as much as you want. Overall it’s a great Korean BBQ.
My friends and I made a reservation for the restaurant's $10 pork belly special. Sadly, we left quite frustrated with the service and overall experience. We were a group of 7 people sharing a single grill and one pair of tongs. KBBQ comes with a free soybean stew and some rice, but we had to flag down multiple servers and ask nearly 10 times for our stew. We kept being told it was coming, but it didn't arrive until we were basically done eating and with a single bowl of rice for the whole table. We also had to ask for an extra pair of tongs and chase people down for lettuce/banchan refills since no one ever checked on us. What we got: - Pork Belly no skin - Pork Belly with skin - Seasoned premium beef - Soybean stew (comes with KBBQ) - Banchan (kimchi, fish cakes, cucumbers) - Popcornis Final thoughts: Kpop playing and the lights dimmed halfway through the meal so the vibe was pretty cool. Meat was nothing special, but can't beat the $10 deal we got. There were powdered flavouring you could put on your meat (wasabi, cheese, cumin, sweet corn) but I found it a bit gimmicky and you shouldn't need to cover your meat in powder if it is good quality. I believe the meat deal is over so I probably won't be back. There are better KBBQ options.
Loved this place! Especially with the current promotion. $10 weekdays Pork belly. The owner got us a table. He was nice and friendly. Also generous enough to have this promotion going for a little while longer. If you want a spot to drink soju, this is the spot on the weekend. Good food, good vibes and drinks! I liked how they offered different seasoning powders for the meat. Never had it anywhere else. They had different sauces for dipping as well.
Parking: Seoul BBQ provides good acessmrnt from Yonge St with excellent dinning environment. Grilled mackerel had outstanding taste if you are korean or Japanese heritage. I plan to revisit another opportunity. Kid-friendliness: Excellent
I miss the previous it was such a great korean bbq place. Now idk what kind of establishment theyve become.
Meat quality is not good. You must check the receipt carefully. Throwing the receipt.
Korean restaurant specialty store
I was curious because a lot of Koreans say no. Ive been there once and as expected, the owner is very noisy. There is too much interference with guests and shouting and talking about things that dont need to be said. There is a noisy crazy boss. If I want to give a personal tip to the server, please do it secretly without the boss knowing. I have seen the boss take away tips many times.
food is very expensive and too slow !!! pork belly was $25 for 3 pieces and kalbi was $37 for 3 pieces!!!!!!! in this economy?!?!?!!
Food was ok, but the owner wasnt very friendly and doesnt know how to cook the bbq thing.
I liked it. Service was slower than ideal, but maybe they were short staffed because it was so late
The stir-fried octopus and side dishes were delicious and the server was so friendly that I enjoyed the meal.
Good food & friendly staff
The side dishes are even better.
Overly Expensive
The main food is also really delicious. The side dishes are really amazing. I feel like they use fresh ingredients as well as seasoning without any hesitation. A more Korean taste than Korea I highly recommend it. Parking: Free parking within the shopping mall
Each and every side dish is so much more delicious than the ones I had in Korea. I think I found a better Korean restaurant than the one I found in Toronto. Let s have a happy meal today too Good luck boss
I order that fish cake pot according to the picture in the menu. But it is totally different when they serve and the pancake is so weird. This is totally over priced.Only 2 tables but I got the side dishes after 20mins Never come back
The server was very friendly and the food was delicious. However, the owner scolded the server in front of all the guests and raised his voice to the point where it was very uncomfortable, so it was very uncomfortable. I requested a bilge and waited for 15 minutes, but the server scolded me so the kitchen staff eventually gave me a bilge. The food is delicious, but this is a place I never want to go again.
First time being here, came here on Saturday around 630pm. Found a parking spot quickly. Didnt have to wait for a table. Once we got seated, it got busy. We ordered and part of our order came quickly. We asked for a refill of 3 side dishes, it never came. Not sure if it was short staffed or its not the norm to give refills here. Our BBQ combo was supposed to come with 2 rice and a soup. Since the server forgot the 2 rice and soup, it came after we finished the BBQ meat and other dishes. Food tasted standard. Not sure if I would return.
I really dont regret it. Of all the Korean restaurants Ive been to, the food service and visuals were all the best!! I was impressed after taking a bite. I think I will have a fun trip thanks to Deokman :) May you prosper~!! I especially recommend squid fried rice to those who like spicy food!!
I just noticed that I had given a five star review before because I loved the food they offered and it was one of my favourite korean restaurants, but about a month ago I came to dine here, and now had it change it to two stars. I came here all excited, hoping to try the menu again. Unfortunately, they completely changed it, severely shortened it, and raised the prices. They took away all my favourite items on the menu like the fried food and tteokbokki. I was told that they changed owners, thats why. I was so disappointed and felt deceived because they still have their old menu on their website attached, so I thought it was the same as in the restaurant even though they changed the name of the restaurant. I had to leave without buying anything, I really miss the old menu . Also, Im not sure if this was here before, but I noticed when I was there recently, that they have a karaoke place. However, its not really soundproof because every so often you will hear scream singing throughout the restaurant.
Food is not cheap but the portions are big.
Food quality so far so good But service and price is low level Food
I ve been here before and it was great, and I don t know if they changed the management, but it went downhill a lot.. price doesn t justify the amount of food and served in paper cups never again.
A very good KBBQ place. The portion might be just a bit smaller comparing to other places, but the service and panchan is top notch. We also ordered black bean sauce noodle, rose tteokbokki and they were really good. The owner said the chef here has been working for 20 years, and is the original creator of Rose Tteokbokki in Toronto. The order system is really advanced with detailed options. Will come back for more. Edit: they have changed owner and staff, so tteobokki is no longer on the menu :( food s still good. Recommend the cheese balls
Booked one of the party rooms for a birthday. The owner and staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was great and karaoke is included at no extra charge when you reserve a room!
Edit: I believe this place is not Seoul house when I made this review. Maybe they change management and change their name, I m kot sure. But to let you know this review is made not for Seoul House Sojubang restaurant but for the restaurant in this place before it changes to Seoul House. The food and the place is great. Specially their services. They are so attentive to their customer. Asking if we need anything from time to time. We had Korean bbq (3 kinds of meat) and the hotpot. We re surprised that they gave us Japchae which is in the house. They also refill the soup in our hotpot which is also great. They have no mandatory service charge. You can just tip them how much you want unlike some other korean restaurants For the price, i don t know if it s reasonable. We paid $138 for everything in the picture except for the Japhae. All in all, we enjoyed our dinner and also got to watch the Super bowl while eating.
1 star. overpriced food, paper cup and plastic plates. And take out chopsticks. All the side dishes come in a plastic container. Absolutely avoid. Also, $35 bucks for seafood pancake.
Food should be better....
I ate a lot of main menu items such as spicy seasoned chives and muk side dishes, as well as ae.
Under new management, when we went in the staff seemed unorganized. New menu is much smaller than before, no appetizers, just meats and mains. Half the meats were sold out quite early. Meat was good quality though. Tables at the center of the dining room had no vent so the restaurant smoked up once the middle got seated and began cooking.
Worst ever. The food quality was okay but quantity for the meat was too less compared to the price. Also, i did not like the attitude of the owner being rude towards employees.
The amount of food was too less compared with the price,
Mediocre food but most importantly, the worst service ever especially from the women working here. First and last time coming here
Definitely one of the best Korean Bar in GTA. Amazing food and great vibe.
This kbbq place has the best cuts of meat for a really good price! Everything is ordered on a tablet which made service quick and efficient but regardless the staff was really attentive and made sure we always had our sides refilled. We really enjoyed the beef, honeycomb porkbelly and cold noodles.
Good food and vibes
Came for the $5 soju deal. We ordered the mix bbq Combo that had both beef and pork option. Came with deep fried shrimp, japchae noodles, and army stew. Very filling and delicious. Server was very friendly and attentive in clearing the plates and making sure that we were satisfied with the experience. Will come back again soon!
We came when they had the $10 pork deal and LOVED it! We ordered: Premium Beef Short Ribs, Pork Belly (with and without skin), Raw beef tartare. Food, atmosphere and service
Meat seemed pretty good, Im usually sensitive to the smell of red meat but the meat smelled fine when it was raw. Beef short ribs were tender when cooked. The pork belly was good, it wasnt super greasy and tasted pretty refreshing compared to other pork belly Ive had. We also ordered the tteokbokki and tako wasabi. Both were tasty. The wasabi wasnt overpowering. Service was good and they were quick with giving the bill.
Ordered combo set for 5-6 ppl, size is fit for 7 people, overall not bad.
it is delicious. I recommend homemade makgeolli and cheese balls..!!
Been to the restaurant the first time when they had a 1/2 price pork Belly promotion for a friends birthday. We definitely had enough that night and we were very full. I remember the vibe of the place, and all types of Korean music videos being played throughout the evening my friend she loved it. Everything was amazing and delicious. I just didnt really like the popcorn as a side dish in the beginning.................however on my second visit to this establishment after the first time there was no more popcorn side dish lol. Instead for side dishes there was Kim Chi, Fishcake, Potatoes, Anchovy, Bean Sprouts and we were given prompt and attentive service and generous refills on our side dishes by the manager or owner. On our second visit we noticed the tableside POS ordering system on a tablet screen, wow, owner or owners must have spent a descent amount of money on that setup in the restaurant. The POS system is very easy to use and shows you the price and quantity of every item. Click choose what you want and order, simple as ABC 123. Just on my second visit I was a little disappointed in the selection of beer that evening, who knows, maybe just a small supply issue on their behalf but Im sure this problem will be fixed by summer time. The place is very hidden and I feel like that is why we were the only group at a table there that evening. But, some of the best things and places in life are not always visible or have a huge billboard sign along the DVP or 401. In the end, this place is a real hidden gem and I cannot wait to be back in the future.
$35 for a soggy seafood pancake. Patio is cold, quiet, and has a leaky roof.
Food good, price reasonable, portion is fair, side dish is good and can refill. Service is so so Food
Bad service
I was recommended this place by a friend. All previous comments mention everything that is right about this place. I believe this is my new favorite Korean BBQ restaurant in terms of value and quality. I had the Japchae, Tteokbokki, Yangnyeom Galbi, LA Galbi, Jumuluck and Beoljib Ogyeobsa. We got a complimentary Haemul Pa Jeon. I plan on visiting this place within the next couple of months. Parking: There is adequate parking.
Food wasnt bad but they kept rushing us out to prep for a dinner rush even though the restaurant was empty
Taste is great, service not really.
Food was great and atmosphere was spot on!
It is nice place to go. Nice food and service Music and atmosphere Definitely recommended ! Food : 5/5 |
Its a place where I feel comfortable at home whenever I want makgeolli or want to eat Korean food. The lady owner is so funny and kind~~ I was really touched when she provided service and celebrated with me on my birthday.
Old fashioned style Korean bar. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed. Food is delicious with reasonable price.
The lady boss takes good care of me, so there is something attractive about this place that makes me keep coming back!!! Theres Yangpoon Kimchi Stew!!! Its amazing ~ Ill go visit again
I used to visit here 3-4days a week and the food was so good. Especially Korean assorted pancake or kkomjang-eo(eel) both spicy and mild are good but I recommend spicy flavour more. All the Hotpot menu are cheaper than other korean restaurant but has better quality.
The reason why I visit Sojubang often is that the food is excellent, comparable to that of a restaurant, and the waitress is very friendly and does a lot of food service in the kitchen. The foods I would like to recommend are Korean salted pancakes, seafood pancakes with plenty of seafood, potato pancakes, Korean sea squirts, Korean oysters, semi-dried grilled squid, and grilled marinated sea eel. They have fantastic flavors and taste just like in Korea.
Very delicious Korean foods and kind service. Highly recommended
Amazing experience I highly recommend everyone check this out. Top service and top taste! The head was so generous and helpful. Their beef is the top, and no way to taste that from a big company. They give excellent service!!!! Visit here again next time
I always come here, the owner is so friendly and the food is so delicious!!!! Especially the grilled shrimp is really delicious..
Food are fantastic.. the most i appreciate are the staffs, specially the guy wearing the blue jay cap.. they really take care of the customers andservice are exxellent.. they really apologetic and give us extra food in the house due to some delays in our order..
I came here during the summer with friends and the owner was so nice. I love the patio. Would definitely come back again.
I love this place,,, food was great,! and the owner was so nice and kide Brings me back to when i lived in seoul!!
Was seated in the coldest spot in the restaurant but otherwise good experience
One of the best Korean food uptown!
Great food! Friendly service! My go-to place for dinner with friends
Its really delicious, the service is good and theyre very friendly. Amazing service perfect food
So delicious
Ive been to a lot of Korean bbq joints in the city, Ma n Pa vs big chain alike. While I cant say Hae wa Dal looks or feels too trendy or cool, I can say this is THE place to eat Korean. Every menu item is authentic and excellent. What you trade in having a family-friendly atmosphere you make up tenfold in flavor and selection. Every option great. High quality, high care. Overall the best Korean Ive had in the gta. From now on, this is where Im going for Korean, the others just cant compete.
Food is delicious and friendly
Spent $150 and left half of food I ordered.
This is my favourite place to hang out with my friends because of these three reasons: 1. The amazing food 2. The cozy atmosphere 3. The kind staff and owner You MUST try the Korean fresh oysters. They can t even compare to the Canadian oysters. I cant stop thinking about them
This place was great. They give so many side dishes that were all so good. The service was really great as well.
I had really good night at this place with my friends! If you are Korean food lover, def I recomend this place! I ordered the Kinchi stew and *potato pancake* with Soju and it was soooo good !!
First time coming here after many years the staff was very kind and helpful and respectful. great place to bbq !
This is my second time to come. They are authentic Korean food style. The restaurant atmosphere is good, and I love their service and foods. Definitely recommend
I ordered kimchi stew with soju and it was delicious. It was a bit disappointing to hear that there was no rice.
Delicious Korean BBQ with very good service.
I went there because the current chef recommended it, and the food was good.
Non-AYCE Korean BBQ and the quality of the meat is improved accordingly. The service is prompt and professional. Like any other Korean BBQ plates you receive a number of small appetizers, rice, and soup as part of the steeper cost of the meat. It was very quiet when we went (probably because it was Easter Monday).
Second time been here, authentic Korean food and very good service. Highly recommend budae hot pot and grilled king prawn with salt! Their stir-fried octopus is delicious too. The house rice wine is a must have.
Second time being here. It is a hidden gem. The food is delicious and their service is great. I love the grilled king prawn with salt and Budae hotpot is delicious. Their house rice wine is a must have.
place to eat
The spicy raw crabs were so good. The BBQ, hotpot and cold noodles were worthy to try. Atmosphere was well-decorated, clean and service was nice and considerate.
This is the best place that I visted forever. This is real korean taste!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thank you so much for launching this place
Its so delicious~
Came here solo for a late lunch since I was craving yangyum (marinated) kalbi. They let me order for 1 (usually min 2 for bbq) and even offered to grill it for me before bringing it out. Their selection of banchan (complimentary side dishes) were pleasantly varied and different from the typical offerings at other restaurants. When I commented on one that I liked and had never tried before, they packed me some to take home with me! Im korean, kbbq is probably my favorite food and I recommend you try this place out! SO GOOD!!
Foods average, but service is excellent, very friendly staffs ! Suggestion, hope they can be more detail on the menu, e.g. whats included in the BBQ meal, i.e. rice, soup, and stone pot egg.
Excellent service and food. No waiting, maybe we were lucky. Slightly expensive but it s worth to pay for quality and quantity.
All the food is so delicious without being too salty or too salty. Its the best.
The atmosphere in there is really good. It is dark at the first time I came there. But they have an option to turn on the lamp in my table. I love the popcorn it has a special flavour in there. We can dip the meat with so many flavours powder and sauces option. I really like their soup, it tasted so good. Also, last but not least I like the promotion in there definitely will come back!
great food!!
Waiting time is so long, even the restaurant is not full.
I dont think Ill go after the $5 soju promotion ends. The other food is so-so, and the server woman is so rude that I dont even taste the alcohol. Haha...
Food was pretty good, but I don t recall seeing any ventilation for the smoke to get out of so it was somewhat annoying. Staff and atmosphere was very good. Good place to chill in the night
There was a fish hook missing from the fish casserole, and the fish that was replenished later was like a rubber band and I couldnt eat it.
SUPPPPEEERR COOOL GRAND OPENING food was delishhhh STEVVEEEEE AMAZING OWNER. You can tell the dedication and grind he s put into this place. Amazing ambiance. 100% will be returning #NEWFAVESPOT
This place make you feel like your in Korea. Good staff, good bbq. I came 2 days in a row! Steve is a amazing dude. Dont miss out on the $5 soju promo! Zzan! Food : 4/5
Do not waste your money at this place. Extremely rude service. Place is garbage, nasty food being prepared on kitchen floor with back door wide open. So the rats and roaches can come feast whats on the floor. Just a matter of time before it closes down.
high quality food great vibes lots of sojo options great deals with the $10 pork belly on weekdays and $5 sojo bottles on weekends not sure how long the deal is but I recommend you go before it s over the owner steve is amazing super nice and accommodating, music is top tier of u like K-pop and house music. a wall for the instagram post if you wanna take pics. definitely coming back for food and vibes.
Had a night out with friends here and enjoyed every minute of it here. From the moment we walked through the doors we were greeted by staff and made us all feel super comfortable. The food and service was great and kept me coming back for more, and overall had a nice atmosphere. Definitely plan on coming back soon!
Great place and atmosphere and staff is super friendly including the owner. The food was really good to the point we for sure are coming back. Dietary restrictions: Nut free
Came here after seeing all their online promos on IG, $5 soju bottles. I dont want to go into too much detail but their service was a 1 star, theres no resos available on weekends and yet somehow so many open tables and they throw you on a wait list, just read some of the other reviews on bad service. Its just bad vibes here. I thought its a new restaurant but after looking at Google reviews theyve been open atleast a year, this makes sense why they are doing so much promo to lure ppl in.
Held a small birthday dinner here and had a great experience! Quality staff & service, raw food was very fresh, the cooked dishes were tasty, and 15 types of soju? , we will be back. Thanks Steve
Food was terrible, portions small and overpriced. Service was also lacking as our server never checked on us once and the food took a long time to come out of the kitchen. Never coming back.
Ive never written a review before, but I feel like I absolutely have to write one about this place!! If you are going, please take note. First of all, the server who appears to be the owner is really rude. You can immediately see why there is a lot of talk about the server in the reviews. Most of the praise reviews are foreign reviews. Are you only rude to Korean customers? Above all, I waited because they said I was the 3rd person in line, but as I was waiting in the waiting room, other customers came in one after another and they went in first, so I asked them directly. Then, they stopped talking and got angry and said they were the customers waiting outside. So, it wasnt the 3rd time. Hahaha. They said it was the 3rd time. Taking out your anger because you re busy? Im trying to say it in the best way possible, but he just went to work and waited for an hour, but there were customers waiting in the middle, and he suddenly said he was the 10th in line haha!!!!! I was wondering why other peoples reviews were like that and I understand. It was my fault for only thinking about the promotion haha.
I love this place! The best place for Korean grill!! The owner of this place is so sweet and he definitely knows what he s doing! 110% recommended!!
Im not one to write reviews but after seeing some of the absurd comments I just had to. This spot is a must try kbbq joint!! Its a small family ran business and you can tell how much work theyve put into it from what it was before. Brilliant deal they have going on right now! The vibe is amazing, great music, food and service!! Yes it is definitely busy and its no wonder why! Be prepared to wait, I promise you its worth it!! Bring your friends who can drink Soju because right now for a limited time they are offering $5/bottle/person!!
Racist owner/ manager! On Friday evening, when we arrived for dinner, we were treated differently because of our race by the owner/ manager at Gamseong Siktak! Before arriving, I called in and asked for a reservation. They said they dont take reservations, so when we reached at 6pm, we wrote our name on a waitlist. We noticed while waiting that half the restaurant was empty and were wondering why we werent seated. While looking around, I saw a list on the wall written in Korean that had names and reservations for people! I lived in Korea, so despite not being Korean, I can read and understand it. To make matters worse, a white lady came right after me, and as she was walking in, told her family that she was going to get them seated despite the lineup. She stood there and threw a tantrum, insisting she had a reservation till the manager seated her. I couldnt believe it! Right in front of us dark skinned people, a white person was given priority seating, and other Korean people coming in whose names were on the list for Korean reservations were then given seating. We were called at 7:19pm by someone from the restaurant letting us know an hour and a half later that they had seats available. We had already left and gone to another restaurant by that point and were enjoying Korean food at a non-racist business. I can not believe that in Toronto, a multicultural city, racism is still at the forefront of some restaurants business practices.
Such good service and delicious everything! Parking: Tons of parking Food : 5/5 |
Amazing service and I love the atmosphere/aesthetics! The music was good too, we had so much fun here.
Gamseong Siktak is a newly opened Korean BBQ and Pub in the Thornhill area. They are currently having a promotion - all soju (chum churim) bottles are $5 for your first one, for each person at the table from Fridays through Sundays. Their flavours range from apple mango, green grape, regular, grapefruit, citron/lemon, and others. For weekdays (Mondays through Thursdays), theyre offering $10 for pork belly plates. One of the workers say that they intend to go on with the promotion until early September (Labour Day weekend), so now is the time to go! I had originally made a reservation on their website (a week in advance) because we had a party of 12 for a Saturday night. I even got email and text confirmation and reminders from them leading up to the day. When we arrived, they had let us know that they did NOT have our reservation, and additionally could not seat us because our entire party was not there yet. They also said they could not guarantee us a seat by the time everyone was there (even though we let them know everyone was within 5-10 minutes away). What was the point of that? This was not mentioned to me when I made the reservation. I can also see that they took down the reservation booking site from their website now - this was kind of disappointing. The rest of the night, however, the service was good. Not amazing, but good. The food itself was good - we ordered 2 of the party platter for 3-4 people with additional entrees on the side. Everything was great and brought out in a timely manner. In total, we spent about $40-50 per person. Wheelchair accessibility: They are not very wheelchair accessible. The front door are is quite tight, and wont be easily navigated. Most of their tables are also booths, so itll be difficult for those in wheelchairs to sit comfortably.
Mediocre food and even worse service. If you saw this place on social media like we did, don t bother coming there s much better and more affordable KBBQ spots around (in that plaza, even!) that are way more worth it.
Very worth, Im amazed at the price. Actually crazy
Went since we heard that they have a promo going on for $5 soju bottles (first btl per person). We booked a table in advance and had 14 people and came at 10pm. Ample parking as its in a plaza with a lot of spaces - most of the other spots were already closed by the time we got there, so it was easy to get to. The place itself had a good amount of tables, a party room space, as well as even a photo opportunity back drop sorta station. Clean bathroom on the womens side. Music was edm focused and as our group just came off of VELD from the previous weekend we did really enjoy it. Theyve got red moody lighting the later it gets into the night too. Service was good, and the host was very welcoming. At some point in the night, we ended up talking with a couple of other tables and even did a group shot with everyone around us! Very good vibes. I ordered a ($5) green grape soju, but they did have most common soju flavours available (apple mango, grapefruit, yogurt, plum, and more). A la carte menu had table kbbq, and other standard korean eats. I ordered a soondubu - it was pretty average. We ordered a chicken and fries combo, however theyd run out by the time we got there. One of our friends is pescatarian so she tried to order fries just to munch on, but they arent able to sell fries separately so FYI! Friends ordered kbbq and korean pancakes tteokbokki and enjoyed it. Average pricing for food in general. Overall good experience and would go again. Parking: Store front is located within the inner part of the plaza. Wheelchair accessibility: No steps preventing accessibility from front entrance, to dining tables, to restrooms!
This place has authentic korean food and great night time drinking vibes. It is super cute inside with lots of IG worthy decor. We came here for my friends birthday and they decorated our table when we got there! The food is so yummy and I would highly recommend the Wang Galbi and pork belly. The Galbi is perfectly marinated and melt in your mouth. They had a $10 pork belly special during the week and $5 Soju special during the weekends. I could not believe how great the deals were and we took advantage of the $5 Soju special. The service was great and the staff were friendly. This place will be my new regular spot!
Service, quality and quantity of food not as good as the Daldongnae Korean BBQ (the one in Scarborough [Steeles/Midland]). I always think that 15% compulsory tips is not fair for the customers especially for this young lady with blond hair working there. I didnt feel welcome....only saw the long face all the time. By the way, their summer promotion of $10 pork belly is only an option of a smaller portion of dish.
They have an amazing promo 10$ per order of pork belly!! Good sides and service!
Absolutely one of the best dining experiences I had ever had. The food, the service the atmosphere was perfect! We went for my birthday and it happened to a be surprise and it blew away my expectations. Thank you
The restaurant is nice inside. A great ambiance. The food was average. No taste in the bbq and super small portions. The hotpot was just ok. Not a lot of side dishes either.
My boyfriend and I have come here twice already and we both absolutely LOVE it. The promo for $5 Soju (one bottle per person) is so worth it. The food is amazing and I love how they give you additional sides and snacks. Staff is great! :)
so good!!!
One of the best dining experiences I ve ever had !! Food was good and staff was super friendly and lovely. Thank you for the lovely experience will definitely be coming back. !!
I tried their Korean BBQ including the $10 special pork belly, army stew, and basil cream and rosé tteokbokki - everything was so good with generous portions! They also have a ton of flavours of soju to choose from. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and vibey.
It is a great Korean BBQ restaurant. Its not cheap place, expect to spend $150-200. I personally love Korean BBQ and look for authentics.
Aside from the staff being busy because we went in right when it opened, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was great! I recommend going in around 6pm after opening!!
Super nice vibes!! Food was really good and service was super nice! They gave us a lot of on-the-house food items!! Got a free birthday shot too. Have a good variety for soju flavours :) and the owner is super friendly, would definitely come back
Its one of my family favorites... amazing food and amazing staff
Absolutely loved the experience with amazing staff and atmosphere! Got the Table BBQ combo for 4 people and got so much food with lots of Soju flavor options.
One of the best KBBQ restaurants Ive been to thus far. Best service and quality food! The management and the servers are super professional, kind, helpful, and truly understand the meaning of hospitality. I am definitely coming back here in the future! Daniel, Ian, and Young-Ha are the best! Dietary restrictions: They offer the best alternatives especially for those dietary restrictions!
Came here last Thursday with my friends. Got the Pork belly as well as the short ribs. Have to say this is a must try spot. The food is pretty good, sides are decent. Service was overall not bad, could definitely use a lot more work. Atmosphere was amazing. I loved the music they had going around as well as the decor. Monday-Thursday $10 Pork Belly Friday-Sunday $5 Soju This runs until Labor day Overall, I will be returning very soon
From the ingredients to the taste of the food and the atmosphere, its just as good as if you were in Korea.
Dont go !! Scammer !! Billed $40.77 paid $50 and give me back $7.1 as change
Amazing food, great service.
Im tired of the atmosphere and Im tired of kimchi stew.
A recommendation from a co-worker - glad we went! Food was delicious and staff was accommodating and attentive. Would definitely go back!
Came here for the $5 soju deal. The restaurants only gives you the $5 deal per food dish you order. We ordered the fries and calamari. Fries were fresh off the grill, but I would not purchase the calamari again as the fries were a lot better. Service was great, our waiter was very attentive to our needs.
Their $20 honeycomb pork belly.. The quality is really great. Still, the staff were friendly
Amazing Authentic Korean Food
Best korean food in town! The staff are friendly and food is delicious.
The foods are not bad, the service is completely bad, especially if you dont know the owner anyone there, DONT go. I visited here two days ago with my friendly old neighbor. We walked there, got in, and ordered our food. There was no one in the restaurant yet. The owner didnt seem like welcoming us somehow. While we order, eat, drink over $150 dollars worth, the owner was busy talking to everyone else but us. She was loud, happy, welcoming, suggesting foods to other people, checking them every 10minutes. Leaving us to feel clearly being discriminated, and also every time we order, it took way too long comparing it to the difficulty of the food to make. We were even scolded for ordering the cold noodle late all after we finished our foods. She says order it before a certain time, thats for the employees there to eat, what? are you serious? You can see the difference in between people she knows or not. If you are new, please be mindful that not all Koreans are this much rude. The foods are alright. The service was unforgettable. Terrible experience indeed. When I write a review of a Korean restaurant, I always try to give it a good review, so I put my mind to it and write it once. My upstairs neighbors grandfather, who is suffering from cancer, wanted to congratulate me, so I went with him to eat bean noodles. As I entered the entrance, I didnt even look at the old man and greeted him as if I was friendly, but I felt a bit bad at his cold attitude, but thats possible (it turns out that he came and asked me the day before to make sure he wouldnt make me walk in vain). I ordered soybean noodles and potato pancakes one at a time, and as I sat waiting, other young men came. The owner has become a different person, so she spends 10 minutes greeting and welcoming me, and is completely out of her mind. You can do that if you are friends. When we received our food, we decided to eat it, even if it meant garnishing the poor quality cucumbers. Since joining another team, there has been no other owner who is so friendly. They were busy going to each table every five minutes, so we ordered and ate while piling up empty plates on the table next to us. As I was about to eat uncomfortably for a while, he passed by and said, Father, I need to order the bean noodles before what time. I m planning on eating this for the employees, so next time, please hurry. Oh, thats true, you can take care of your employees, but isnt that the case if you grumble as you pass by without even showing your face or providing service? They were busy talking to other tables and didnt even take our order, and their tone of voice was always very cold, asking why they were doing it now. I kept drawing lines and discriminating against customers until the end, and ended up telling the waiter who was having a hard time telling me about my inconvenience. I ordered Daegu pancake and it took 30 minutes for them to sit there and talk while showing their faces here and there without even checking. Since it was $30, I thought I was going to catch cod. This is the longest comment I have ever written. Upstairs, you say its okay because youre busy. Im never going again.
Great Korean BBQ spot, not a chain family owned, there was a little wait but well worth it. A+ quality
Incredible food and service! Some of the best KBBQ that you can find! Wont be disappointed
Great food with a friendly and accommodating staff, I would highly recommend
This was one of the best korean bbq places Ive had in Toronto. The taste and quality was as good as Ive had in Korea and the price was very affordable. Im so glad i was recommended this place because its one of the best Ive had in awhile!.
Excellent Korean BBQ! The meat and side dishes are better than Daldongnae! Ambience isnt that hip, but the food is the best in North York!
Unfortunately a very disappointing experience and poor service that prompted me to write a harsh review. We called ahead of time to ask if a dog was allowed on the patio, and they very clearly said yes. We then drove very far (40 minutes) to dine here. Upon arrival, we went to the front to check if they had patio space open and confirmed with the waitress whether a dog is allowed and they said yes again. We then went to the car to get our small dog (a chi mix). Another waitress saw the dog refused to seat us, and insisted the manager would not allow dogs on the patio when she had just said they were allowed. The inconsistency and customer service at this restaurant is terrible; the staff left us with such a poor experience that we do not recommend eating here.
good Korean food, but very pricey, not good value, will not go back
Honestly one of my favourite places to go. We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident as we intended to go to the one beside this place and ended up going here. Let me tell you that we were not disappointed. The service was outstanding and the owner is very friendly. My friends and I had a blast and will always recommend this place to everyone without question. Thank you for such an amazing time!
The food not worth the price, and doesn t taste good
The worst Korean restaurant I ve had in Toronto, the food tastes so bad.
The food not worth, the pork belly taste like nothing, just 3 pieces dry and thin pork for 23$. If come for food not recommended
The staff is friendly, but the food comes out very late. Its a meat restaurant, but the meat isnt that good. I have a good eating style. The pork had a strong smell.
Their side dishes and black bean noodles were good but Chinese Korean spicy chicken was horrible. For $35 spicy chicken was too spicy, had little to no meat, and the texture was exactly the same as a rice cake. As a Korean the Chinese Korean sweet spicy stir fired chicken is suppose to have a sweet and spicy sauce. The chicken should be crispy too. The portion for that chicken dish was also way too small. Extremely infuriating as a Korean.
One of my favorite pocha-styled restaurants in North York. Exceptional service from the waitress who made sure we were warm in the cold winter. Food portions were large enough for my friends and I to be satisfied. I would definitely come back with friends. Hidden gem in North York - a reminiscence to pocha in Korea
The worst
Its so tasteless and unfriendly. Why on earth are you going?
This restaurant is fantastic. All staff are kind and professional. People who want to know real Korean cuisine must visit and try.
Amazing food and service! Strongly recommend.
Go-to place every time I visit Toronto! Very friendly staff
Absolutely amazing experience, the food was delicious and the staff was caring. Id love to come back here again, and Id recommend it as a nice place to go with friends and family.
Great tasting food! Loved the squid, definitely recommended!
Will def become a reg customer! Great food and atmosphere!
Great Korean food with an immaculate vibe! I would recommend coming here if you re just looking to chill and enjoy your evenings.
Amazing food, service, and atmosphere. This place is awesome!
The best Korean food in Toronto! Amazing service and the ingredients genuinely feel like it s fresh! Overall great experience and highly recommend!
Attentive server ,food is delicious.
There was a mold in my food.. so dirty..
The food was unbelievable and amazing great service. The premium kalbi was the best and all the sides were very delicious. This might be our new favourite Korean bbq spot!
Do no drink water here!!!!! If you have to, check your cup or water bottle for your safety.
The outdoor patio, with the music and lights, is really cute. I really like the Jeon (Korean style pancakes) and their house Makgeolli (rice wine). The crowd here seems to be a bit on the mature side so it s less rowdy than other Korean style bars, which is a plus for me. I like that they re open quite late.
Quantity and quality of the food is overpriced, two dishes + rice wine + two bowl of rice cost us over 100CAD (before tax and tip)?? Maybe due to inflation ? I mean u can get a satisfying AYCE dinner many place in town for the same price ..I would recommend against this store
Came for the Korean pancakes and the service is really good :)
Food is great. BBQ and soups. Good service. Perhaps was slower due to a trainee. A typical Korean family style vibe. Food : 5/5
Sojubang serves some Korean dishes that can t be found anywhere else. Some of them could be so unfamiliar to non-Koreans but to me, it feels like walking into my friend s house for a home made meal. They are always super friendly and happy to make suggestions if you are unsure of what to order. I would suggest the Korean pancake combo (Jjeon) and their rice wine!
Went for the marinated beef BBQ. Large portion of fresh meat, barbecue with rice, side dishes, tofu soup and lettuce, authentic Korean taste! Parking: Parking is easy
This shop is a very authentic Korean restaurant, but I didn t get the perilla pancake because it s seasonal
The service is the best! Try their bbq menus! It s so gooooood!
Excellent food Clean, good place recommend Food
Nice food, polite staff and great atmosphere
Loved my experience here. My friend and I ordered off the BBQ menu. The meat was good and staff took the time to show us what to do and even cut the meat for us. The only reason for 4-stars is that it was a little pricey for the portion given. It was a good experience overall and I will come back.
It was quiet, probably because we avoided the lunch rush, and they were quite friendly. The food also tasted good. And... Ive never actually given food 5 stars. Because tastes in food are different.
Very nice place and good food
Everything tastes so good. Their service is great.
Just had dinner here and it was FANTASTIC!! We ordered a 4-5 soup dish for our group. It was amazing!! And the beef intestines were outstanding!! Side dishes were tasty too!! Services VIP level. 100% coming back again!
Excellent Korean food and BBQ. Friendly owner and servers. Good portions, much leftovers. Owner brought couple of birthday dishes as a courtesy!
I was a little worried because there were a lot of mixed likes and dislikes, but the food was better than I expected and the service was also good ^^
The food quality was one of the top from all the Korean restaurants I went (and I ve been quite a few). The staff are very kind. You won t regret coming here!!
Awesome place to have dinner. Went at about 9.30 with a group of 7. Food was awesome, there was no need to ask for refill, they just filled it for you. We also got free big plates of japchae! Food
I had lunch here yesterday and I thought it was amazing! The meat was great quality, the sides were delicious and the service was so kind and genuine. I dont usually give reviews but I have to make sure this restaurant gets more attention. One of the best Korean restaurants Ive been to. Will definitely come back again soon!
