IKIGAI SUSHI - THORNHILL in Thornhill

Today I order for the third time. The first time the rolls were very good, but the last two times the sushi and rolls smelled of some perfume. Chef, please, if you use perfume or a hand cream that has a strong scent, stop doing it. Your rolls smell of perfume.

Excellent bento boxes & shrimp tempura! Was happy to be recommended this spot on Uber eats. Maki rolls have amazing filling to rice ratio. Shrimp tempura has the cripsiest crunchiest panko outer. Meat is also well seasoned and includes good vegetables as well. Very happy to have received my second order from here. Great value and quality

The food was great. The fish super fresh. The presentation was incredible. We had take out and each order looked like a little gift box. Clearly they take pride in the food they sell.

The balance of each roll is perfect - vegan pocket maki is especially sensational. The workers seem to be very proud of their food and service. I see that they have a good reason to.

The best sushi I ve tried so far. Very cool people working here. Tried salmon and tuna burritos and spicy salmon maki. We also got miso soups. You also need to try their honey ginger lemon tea, was super good. 10/10

Lots of great reviews for dine in, but, my take out was just below average and thats mainly due to the rice, didnt melt in your mouth, was a struggle. It also felt like every roll was extra crunchy. I expected better.

Great place with tasty sushi

This restaurant is AMAZING!! The food is delicious, the service is great and the prices are extrememly valid for the portions you get. The special rolls are delicious especially the caterpillar roll, the dragon rolls are pretty tasty but my favourite is the spicy salmon maki roll. The tempura udon was good as well and the mango cheesecake was a perfect end to the meal. I will definitely be back for more delicious food!

I simply had a breathtaking and peaceful experience here. You all were so welcoming and kind to me and my friends who came a long way to find this place. The sushi was so fresh and I could taste the love that you put into preparing it too. Even the atmosphere had a safe and home kind of feeling that I appreciated deeply. Tried Ikigai Sushi for the first time tonight and it was not a disappointment at all. In fact, sushi was fresh and delicious! We had the love boat, chicken katsu and maki sushi set. Server was very nice and friendly. Would highly recommend!

I dont think much about sushi restaurants in GTA having grown up in Vancouver during the 90s. Even Vancouver has gone downhill after that gen of chefs retired. Naturally I have my doubts when I saw the 5 star rating of Ikigai. But I was in the area last week and man I was in for a pleasant surprise. And am back today all the way from Oakville. Top notch ingredients and top notch presentation. Friendly service with great smile. Whats more to ask for? Special mention, the ikura was infused with a slight hint of fragrance fruit taste. Very delicate touch without overdoing it. I wouldnt ask for the secret recipe and just keep coming back .

After reading excellent reviews about Ikigai, my wife and I went there for lunch today. Well come back again. As some reviewers said: its atmosphere was cozy and warm cafe style, the staff was hospitable and very friendly, the food was fresh, the presentation was impressive! My wife had sushi and I had salmom bento box. Excellent food quailty and service! The Japanese green tea was superb!

The best sushi restaurant in the town. Dine in 2 weeks ago for the first time with fam and friends. We had a great experience with the service, the presentation of the food and the taste was amazing. They even lowered the music volume because my baby was sleeping. We got love boat for two and it was so good. Ordered an Ubereat take out today and we received a Thank You card + on the house treat. The quality of the food was good as dine in. Ill definitely go back whenever I craving for sushi.

Best bento I ever had in a very long time. The tempura was very authentic, exactly as the one I had in Japan, the beef was so flavourful and juicy. The portion was huge. Service was really excellent as well. Highly recommend this hidden gem.

Perfect sushi, so delicious , great value for money

My wife is craving for some sushi while we are around Bathurst and Steele. I decided to give Ikigai sushi a try and to turn out this place isnt bad at all. We tried their combo for 2 and we both liked the tempura, salad, and sashimi. Thank you

I have ordered the Maki C set through door dash and it was absolutely delicious, I remember growing up in this area and going to the previous sushi place that was there named sushi wa and so I decided to give the new owners a go and can say that I was definitely not disappointed. You can tell that the ingredients were all fresh and especially impressed at how fresh the raw fish was.

The quality and price at Ikigai Sushi are unbeatable. The takoyaki is also very fresh, you can chew the baby otopus. I got to know that the owner is a proud alumni from my college, so I will continue supporting them.

Now my new favorite place. Food is great, I love their poke and Bento. My wife has a shrimp allergy and they told us sorry for the wait, we used seperate oil for your tempura That alone gets them 5 stars.

Best sushi place in the area. Me and my family wanted to try the Ikigai signature platter as there are so many recommendations and good reviews on Google. The platter was big and perfect for 3-4 people. All the rolls were super unique and good. The sashimi were really fresh. My husband is a sushi lover and we will definitely come back

Great to see a new spot for sushi in the area! Soft opening 15%. I ordered takeout and service was very friendly. I think the rice could use a bit more flavour. It was a bit bland but the soy sauce did help. Good presentation too!

Had chance to go to Thornhill last weekend. When search Google, we found the new opening sushi place. I have to say you will love the food at the first bite. Very very fresh!!! The rolls was very flavour. Service was outsanding. Server explained carefully and friendly everything I asked. Well said, this place will be on my to-go list whenever Im in the area. Also, recommend you should order the ikigai platter. Trust me, 10/10 is nerver enough for them

Ive never seen a sushi place with such a cozy, warm cafe vibe as this one. The server was so friendly and made us feel right at home. The food was the best part; it was extremely fresh and had the perfect blend of flavours. Ive never tasted fried tempura this good before; no joke, my sisters and I rarely fight over food, and this time was a fierce battle. The prices were absolutely amazing for such high-quality food. Definitely becoming my go-to. The long drive was worth it for a mouthful of bliss. Parking: I love that they have such a massive parking lot. I was really hungry, and this saved me so much time.

I had my meal with my friends yesterday, the first thing that impressed me was that the food is well-decorated on beautiful plates and looked very fresh. We didnt have to wait too long to have something to eat, the appetizer was served immediately and the rest kept coming after. The staff here are super friendly, just raise your hand and they are there to help. The restaurant space is spacious, airy and has many windows. The restrooms are separated into mens and womens sides and are very clean. The parking is very easy since the restaurant is located in the supermarket area so there are lots of available parking lots. This will become my favorite Sushi restaurant and I will recommend it to my friends.

We ordered delivery from Ikigai Sushi and it was absolutely delicious! The presentation was beautiful for a takeout order. The sushi tasted fresh and delicious. We ordered the Tokyo, spicy salmon, and green dragon rolls, gyoza as well as takoyaki. They even sent the food with a lovely personalized thank you card. My husband and I will definitely be ordering from them on a consistent basis.

Wonderful experience and service is amazing. The prices are great for the large portions they give you! Presentation is beautiful and the taste is delicious. I was sick for the last three weeks and lost my sense of taste. But their food brought my taste back. With every bite, I was hooked on the fresh fish and killer rolls. With the young, energetic chefs and chill servers, not to mention those one-of-a-kind dishes, they just took my regular day up a notch, lol

I came across this restaurant s grand opening ad on Facebook and decided to give it a try. Their bento box is a must try, the beef was just perfect! Their portion was generous, I couldn t finish everything. If you are looking for an affordable place with great quality, come here. The staff were attentive and appreciative!

Strongly recommend the boat for 2. It was only $59 but it sure fills your belly. The tempura definitely stood out from the rest. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

I came here twice already. I can t tell you enough on how amazing my experience was. The sashimi is fresh and each slice is thick and juicy. They also have special rolls and worth to try. A cute and cozy sushi restaurant with some amazing special rolls. I had the tiger, kyoto, Osaka and spider roll. They were all delicious and they didn t skim out on the portion either. Highly recommend if you re looking for a sushi place to try out.

Went there for dinner tonight. Very good food and good value. We had the love boat for 2 that comes with a bowl of very good sashimi, salad, mixed tempura (we picked this instead of chicken karaage) and sushi. Order chicken katsu bento for kids and the chicken katsu is thick cut but tender and juicy. Definitely will go back again. They have 10% cash discount now

It was my familys and I first time to try this place. The service crew were very helpful and hospitable. The food was good since it had a variety of sushi selection. We ordered takoyaki and lots of sushi. I personally loved the bento box meal. I recommend this place for sure!

This restaurant just opened this weekend. I ordered a salmon poké bowl and an order of salmon sashimi. Delicious! At first, I thought the salmon pieces were tiny but really, they were perfect bite size. The potion was also perfect. I didn t even need any of the sauces I d normally get at other restaurants. My only complaints with this dish: the red onions need to be lessened in quantity and cut a tad bit smaller and maybe offer a build your own poké bowl. The salmon sashimi was amazing! So tasty so fresh. Presentation of both dishes was fantastic (order was for take out). Staff was wonderful welcoming and very engaging. Highly recommend this restaurant at Bathurst and Steeles in Thornhill.
