Pho 18 in Thorold

I reached there on a snowy day, very pressed with time and hunger. I was pleasantly surprised with the food, service, and cleanliness. I was there for only thirty minutes or so. However, the thirty minutes left a lasting positive feeling. Vegetarian options: Yes Parking: Busy street Kid-friendliness: YES Wheelchair accessibility: NO

Last evening I read reviews for pho 18 and decided to order the grilled beef vermicelli. I confirmed with the lady at the front , who was very pleasant about how it was made at their restaurant, to confirm that it would be what I usually order. She described it as usual, other than the fact that their beef would be small chucks not thinly sliced like other restaurants. So , I ordered it ! Because it was takeout , I didn t see it till I was home. Firstly , the salad consisted of very little portions of bagged greens with a couple shards of carrot , the beef , was burnt and the spring rolls were not at all what I expected. The sauce that is pourd on top was sour and odd. The portion was very small and cost 22.00 $ , the most I have ever paid for this dish. I do not like writing reviews but in this case , I felt it necessary. Very disappointed for sure !

Great Pho for a good price

First of all, the waiter was so kind and patient and overall, chill. The food was pretty good but the atmosphere was so pretty, the plants and fireplace make it feel so cozy. Definitely come visit this place if in the area.

I have been there twice recently, both times in June 2024. The first time we asked the server for his suggestions, we got a vegetable Pho and a spicy curry dish...very good and fast service. The second time, we ordered vegetable Pho and chicken Pad Thai. Again, the food was excellent, and the service was fast. Price is reasonable $15 to $30-person Nice restaurant, not fancy, but well put together. Dont park in the lot beside the restaurant..its reserved. Lots of street parking available. If you like this style of food, or just want a change, try this place....you wont be disappointed. I am going back real soon !!!

I m a big fan of pho but for here unfortunately I have to say the price is the highest and taste is the worst in Niagara region. The soup has no flavour.

Had a great experience from the friendly and warm customer service to the delicious appetizers, pho and Vietnamese coffee. Tried a couple dishes - mango salad, crispy cheese wontons, smoked salmon avocado fresh rolls, spring rolls, special beef pho and the ice Vietnamese coffee and all were delicious. Everything came out very timely and fresh, the beef broth was very clean tasting. Definitely would recommend for the friendly atmosphere and service with a great variety in menu options and quality food.

Got rare beef pho and Tom yum soup.. both flavourless and bland. No bean sprouts, lime, sauce in bags despite specifically requesting them. Plus side, employee on the phone was pleasant to deal with.

Pad Thai is super! So original.

I had the special pho. It had a lot of beef balls. But still, it was pretty good. I really liked the beef flank in the pho. Excellent broth. The utensils and silverware were washed well, free of microfilms. I noticed all the tables and chairs were really clean, free of crumbs or stains. That can say a lot about how your food is made.

The food and the service was amazing. We ordered the spring rolls and pho. The spring rolls were good and the pho tasted delicious. There are hints of cinnamon and the noodle portion was large. The place was very nice and clean. Lastly, the owners were very kind, friendly, and always asked us if we needed napkins, plates, etc. Service was exceptional and I will definitely be coming here again when I come back to Thorold! Vegetarian options: Many different vegetarian dishes/options available! Kid-friendliness: Owners are so welcoming.

For over 30 years, I have tried Pho in no fewer than 30 restaurants in the GTA and across southern Ontario. Sadly, this one ranks near the bottom. Ordered a large Pho with rare beef and the servings were extremely stingy. The soup had no flavour, whatsoever. To make matter worse, we ordered tea as soon as we were seated. Only to find that we were charged 75 cents per person on the bill, first time ever! Tea is complimentary in all other places. The only positives were the attentive waitress and the nice decor.

Delicious and cheap!

What an amazing experience we had this evening at Pho18. We were greeted with friendly smiles and sat right away! Our server Annie recommended I have W8, stir-fried Cantonese noodles and I m so glad she did. I ve had their pho before and it s amazing but these noodles were so good. The dish was so flavourful and the beef tasted like a well-seasoned steak. Thank you so much for your friendliness Annie, it was amazing!

I really like the environment, there are lots of plants, feels like you are eating in the garden. Although the flavor is normal, the waitress was short with me, she asked me are you done, here is the bill when I was still eating. I said do I have to pay now. She said I am going to have my meal. She made me feel I had to finish my meal as soon as possible because she wanted to have hers. I asked for some bean sprouts and lime, she said they already put some in the bowel and asked me to pay more for one slice lime. The whole lime only worths 58 cents in grocery store. They also charge tea. Other pho restaurants offer free limes and free tea.

Always a wonderful experience here! The food and service were great. Everything was fresh, hot and full of authentic flavour. Definitely a must try if youre in the Niagara area. Parking: Park on the street, a municipal parking lot down the street or to the side of the building.

This place doesnt know how to make pho. I am a frequent pho customer across Toronto and many cities. The broth This place made definitely a big fail. I came to pho18 because of their good review however I now highly suspect those excellent reviews are fake. I honestly have never try a pho worse than this place. Broth has no taste, taste like water down and bland. They also charged us extra for tea. This is also first time I got charged for it in the past 30 years visiting so many pho restuarant. Help yourself and try pho another place. I will never come back.

Have always loved this place the most for pho and other dishes. We no longer live local but always try and stop here when we are in Thorold. The food is always fresh and very hot, prices are super reasonable and the staff are always kind and courteous. My favorite is the vegetarian tom yum soup

One of the best restaurants in town. I m a Vietnamese, so you can trust my Vietnameseness. This restaurant cooks bona fide authentic Vietnamese food.

They were happy to take a last-minute reservation for a large group. They were ready for us when we arrived, service was fast, personable, and excellent, and food was outstanding! Only thing missing from a full 5 stars was that the bills took a long time to sort out. We will be back in a month when we come for our next tournament!

Great selection on the menu and see vegan-friendly options as well! Would be nice for them to have complete vegan options (eg. peanut sauce) as opposed to some other substitute. Dietary restrictions: Vegan option - fresh rolls. Peanut sauce substituted with Thai chili sauce.

I love the food, but the service really takes it over the top. My husband usually picks up takeout on his way home from work, but I decided to dine in with the kids for once. The owner recognized us from 3 years ago!! She even remembered the table we sat at. The twins were 3 at the time, now theyre 6. This time, they ordered a bubble tea to share for dessert, and she even put it into 2 cups for us without us asking. Shes as fantastic as the food. They really make you feel welcome here.

Had a great experience last night at Pho 18. The service was great and the food was delectable. A little bit too much ginger for me, but overall, it was a great meal. The atmosphere is really nice with all the plants and nice music.

A very tastefully set up restaurant with pleasant, albeit not a 100% accurate service: Instead of the hot coffee I ordered I was served iced coffee. The cold shrimp rolls served with peanut sauce - tasty, fresh nicely done. The pho: very tasty broth - as promised on the menu, presented with the sprouts, basil, bit of lime and proper sauces. But: it had wheat noodles in it. Disappointing! back to the Hot Vietnamese Coffee : once my order was (promptly and apologetically) corrected, instead of being the strong, slow drip, uniquely aromatic robusta, it tasted something more like a common breakfast blend. For $7, with condensed milk, again: disappointing. So, is it bad food? No, it is good tasty food, but misses out on authenticity. even a fusion restaurant should deliver on what s promised on the menu! P.S.: Kudos to the staff: it s always nice when you are acknowledged when leaving the restaurant not only when you re arriving! I might just come back! Cheers!

If youre considering dining out, I strongly advise against choosing this particular establishment. My family and I recently visited, and initially, the ambiance seemed pleasant. However, our experience quickly soured. The waitress who took our order failed to inquire about our soup preferences, forcing us to approach another staff member to rectify the order. We also ordered cream cheese wontons and boba. The wontons were the highlight, tasting exquisite. Unfortunately, the boba was a different story; it tasted like overly sweetened water with chunks of ice, possibly due to syrup mishandling. The top part was cold, but the bottom, where the syrup settled, was scalding, almost burning my mouth. Moreover, the boba pearls disintegrated in the drink, rendering it unappetizing. Yet, the worst disappointment was the pho. The broth was exceptionally dark, and the chicken had an odd appearance and taste. The broth was particularly unpleasant due to an overwhelming addition of nutmeg or ginger. I found the pho so repulsive that I felt nauseous. If youre hungry and considering this place, I strongly advise against it. I recommend steering clear to avoid a disappointing culinary experience.

I think the staff serving us was new and thats ok I wasnt in any rush. Owner appeared very nice she just didnt follow through on the discount she promised because we only wanted plain noodles. Place is nice considering the area. We ordered the shrimp pad Thai, fresh spring rolls and pho. We were pleasantly surprised, as all was fantastic and tasted authentic. I highly recommend this place. Jenny was great and very kind. Definitely will be back. Parking: We were told there is free parking at the back, via the pharmacy down the street? Not sure, but street parking is cheap.

Tried Pho here for the first time. I got the well done beef bowl. It was huge and very good on a cold evening. Id also recommend the cheese stuffed wontons. I cant wait to come back and try more dishes and the iced coffee.

Everything started out ok very friendly when we arrived. Just looking for a quick bite and wanted to try as it s close to home. Soon went downhill . When the girl came to the table for the orders , I ordered wonton soup lg . I asked her if it had other noodles in the soup beside the wonton she replied like it says in the menu ok fine I ll have that please . Also have spring rolls and crab wontons . When the apps arrived I asked for soya sauce and hot sauce please . She brought them back with the mains . Not 15min into eating ( still have apps left ) she asks if she can take the sauces away ( soya and hot sauce) I reply with a smile no we are not done. Apps gone spring rolls were fine , nothing fancy or amazing in anyway eating the soup large is large btw she once again approaches the table this time mid mouth full of soup asks if she can take the sauces away lmao . At this point I swallow down my mouth full of soup and reply if you really need them go ahead so she does. Very odd . Foods ok ,prices as ole same nothing new or special not sure where the fusion comes in tbh. And you will have a head ache from the decor fusion of nothing matches

Whoever has given this place a rating over 1 is either related to the owner or never had actual Vietnamese food before. The flavors were disgusting. Like my pho broth tasted burned. The vegetables were terrible quality and definitely frozen not fresh. I normally love spring roles but i spat mine out cause it tasted off. They even managed to butcher mango sticky rice, which is the most simple and delicious thing if youve been to Thailand. It takes no talent chefs who are trying to skimp hard to be this bad. The only thing that tasted ok were the 4 tiny slices of mango I got with the dessert (although that was an offensively low portion). Everything else was not edible and went in the garbage. What a waste.

My FAVOURITE place to eat in Thorold! The food is delicious and made with love. The staff always go out of their way to make sure my vegan diet can be accommodated. The vegetarian pho is my favourite in the winter and the vermicelli salad when the weather gets hot. Highly recommend! :)

Pho 18 is absolutely wonderful. The food is amazing, the ambiance and décor make the experience so pleasant and the staff and owners are incredible. I have eaten here multiple times and like to try something new each time...it never disappoints. The food always comes hot and very quickly. I recommend making this place your absolute go to in the Niagara Region. Deserves more than 5 stars.

The service was pretty good, but the taste was average. There was a fee for tea, so I ordered water. It was quite uncomfortable without tea. Parking seemed to be difficult and I had to park on the side of the road. There may be a fee. I went there on a holiday, so I dont know. The environment is okay. But I wouldnt consider coming again

We stumbled upon this very unassuming restaurant while looking for dinner one evening while traveling from Toronto in Niagara and were surprised to find someone making pho in Thorold of all places. Turns out the lovely owners are from Vietnam originally and moved here from Toronto some twenty years ago. Their incredible pho is homemade from beef bone broth made by the husband who cooks every batch for 16-18 hours. It is one of, if not THE best version of this dish my wife and I have ever had. You can taste the warm, comforting herbs and spices in the dark, rich broth and honestly I would have ordered a larger portion if I had known it would be this good. We will certainly be back next time we are in the area visiting.

I was in Thorold for the Canadian games torch relay this past weekend. Stopped in here afterwards for lunch with 2 other people. Absolutely beautiful!!! Live edge wood bar top and bathroom counter tops. Amazing art work all throughout made by a local artist. Clean, and spacious. So many real plants living their best lives and creating a peaceful atmosphere. All the food was fresh and delicious! Big portions and fair prices. The owners are working within and were very friendly. Would definitely return if Im in the area again. Recommend must try!

Sooooooo good! I got the wontons, Vietnamese sandwich (with chicken and fries), and a small bowl of pho. Everything was delicious and I m super impressed with how affordable it was. Definitely a good spot to hit up for a cheap but tasty little lunch. The service was also lovely. I wish had taken pictures because my meal was awesome. Have been wanting to try this place for years and I m so glad I did but I will say the parking is a little difficult so parking elsewhere and walking over may be better on busy nights.

Came here 4 years ago before the pandemic and came again now, and the food has been and is still amazing. Authentic Vietnamese food.

Food is as average as it gets. Fast service. If anything, they checked on us a little too often so we felt rushed. However, the waitress asked us if everything was okay and we just mentioned that the bun bo hue only had two pieces of meat but it was fine. She insisted on taking the bowl back and took it before we could refuse. Owner came out with the same bowl and she told us that there is NOT only two pieces of meat. We disagreed as we literally were looking at the bowl. She said shell handle the soup and show us that theres not just two pieces and we refused for her to touch the food again. Then she said theres no way that its just two pieces because everything is prepackaged and went away muttering that there is NOT two pieces. Totally unprofessional and perhaps an admission that the food is not fresh. Wont be returning.

This is one of my favorite place to go eat in Niagara! The food, the atmosphere, the service, everything is top notch here. We just had a great event celebrated my parents 50th anniversary here last night, all 35 guests were very happy with the set up and the food! The owner Jenny and Andy, waitress Emily and Ann all went over and beyond to make our party a successful one! Thank you so much and looking forward to more happy meals here!!

If you are looking for authentic pho experience skip this place. Uses lowest quality frozen seafood. Small portion below average chicken broth. Owner gives excuse of there being no fresh seafood in Ontario. There are much better frozen options then what they use. Server is not friendly forgot water. I do not recommend this place.

Great food and service!

We ordered take out when our friends visited us on Saturday evening. It hardly took them 20 mins to prepare the order and delivered on time. We had soups, crispy spring rolls, pad thai, chicken noodles and stir fried noodles. The taste was good and the quantity was enough that we actually had left overs for next day as well. Give it a try!!!

Some of the best pho around! They are Super quick if ordering pick up average time is usually 15-20mins before it s ready, super friendly staff and a very warm welcoming establishment. Their soups are amazing and one of my favourites is their shrimp fresh rolls, I can honestly say that out of all the times I ve been ( which has been many) I ve always left absolutely stuffed with never enough room for desert and the food is always as good as it was the last time. All in all great spot to stop in for a nice lunch or dinner, check them out! Vegetarian options: Quite a few options to pick from

Went as a group of 9, very friendly server and relatively fast service. Unfortunately bill wasnt able to be split when seeing groups but wasnt to big of an issue. Was a very nice experience with good food and friendly staff. Vegetarian options: Has 1-2 vegetarian options per main course option, for example has a vegetarian noodle soup, fried rice, spring roll, etc. Dietary restrictions: Chefs will accommodate any dietary restrictions, you have to speak with the server asap about any serious dietary restrictions. Parking: Has a few parking spots out front on the street but didnt find any parking lot. Wheelchair accessibility: Entrance is about half a foot above the ground with no ramp. Not impossible to get in with a wheelchair but incontinent for sure.

Always an amazing experience at Pho 18! The cheese wontons are BOMB! The service is amazing. They lobe seeing my kids come in! Even gave them free ice cream!!! Kid-friendliness: Awesome with kids!

Great food

In the area and stopped for a late lunch. Ordered their signature house special and their medium rare beef pho and well done brisket pho. The herbs were fresh, the broth was flavorful, the flavor was slightly different from other places. The meats were fresh and tender. Liked the vibe. The service was excellent.

Wonderful hosts for a wedding shower. Food was fantabulaous. Buffet and beverage service. Kind people, perfect spot. Spacious bright and parking near and around. Photo is my second helping.

I like the interior of Pho18 as it gives a bright look to the customer. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the tables and chairs and even the sauce jars in the restaurant are clean and tidy. I ordered the special phone which has beef, stretchy beef ball and beef pepitas. It tasted very good and I definitely go back. I think beef is better than chicken options.BUT! Well worth trying!!

Very good pho place

One of the nicest pho places Ive been to. Food is good and service was friendly. The decor is really what sets it apart from other pho spots.

Staff is amazing and the food is great! I just loved the Zesty Cheese Wontons as an appetizer. For dessert I totally recommend the home made Cheese Cake. Honestly the best cheese cake that I ever had!

I am a regular customer at Pho 18. The personal care and service is exceptional. My favourite dishes are Beef Ball soup, Fresh rolls with Shrimp and Thai Fried Rice. Delicious!!!!!!

An office favourite. Items B11, A6 and P10 are always a go too and highly recommended. The restaurant staff are always welcoming.

Went to this pho place yesterday, and it was an experience, not the type of experience that we were looking for. We ordered Fresh Rolls (combo of shrimp and pork), Special pho, Hue style, and the Grill pork with rice. The waitress was short with us and had trouble of remembering our orders. Due to this, we forgot to mention that we wanted a bean sprout cooked. When we realized as she brought it out to us, she scolded us to mention that ealier. The fresh rolls were undersize compared to other pho restaurants. The pho broth was tasteless, noodle was overcooked and soggy. The hue style was served with the incorrect noodles (udon noodles). The grill pork with rice, the pork was doused in sausce and the meat was overcooked, we could only taste the sauce. We ll not be offering our patronage to this restaurant!

Food was awesome.

Service was excellent and the flavor of the food was fantastic. Wanted to have pho but total change. Had the fry eggroll. The pork inside had a wonderful flavor combination. The Shep and chicken clay hot spicy was incredible. Flavors where layered a with the heat just poking through. Had an array of perfect steamed vegetables.to go with it. Had to top off the meal with a slice of wonderful mango cheesecake. Yes will be back

Unique authentic menu and excellent prices. Worth calling ahead for daily specials. Clean and cool looking washrooms. Nice design to overall facility. Staff can speak Vietnamese and Cantonese. Limited Onsite-parking and time-limited street parking in area. Free WiFi.

The owners are great!! The food is awesome!! Have to eat here. Amazing place to eat good food and relax in Thorold. Andy keep up the great work in the kitchen!

Yummy Vietnamese food!

The restaurant looks nice and inviting. I wish parking was more available instead of the street parking. Food was alright. I ordered the grilled shrimp but was disappointed when it came because it looked like boiled shrimp which was then grilled lightly on the grill. It was a joke to call it grilled. The beef soup broth was alright too. The large size that I ordered definitely did not feel large. I usually order a small bowl at other restaurants and I was able to finish this large bowl which was unexpected. Customer service was friendly and good though!

The waitress didnt remember our order and brought other food and forgot our order. I was not happy.

Delicious food and amazing ambiance. Whether solo, with friends, on a date, or with a coworker Pho 18 suits all social eat outs to the letter. There s a variety of options available on the menu and requests are always met to the chefs best ability. I m always happy and full after a visit. The staff is incredibly friendly and agreeable. All people are treated as a valuable customers and If you ever become a regular, they will make sure to remember your name and make you feel welcome.

I love this place! Its my favorite spot for pho in town and theres so much variety on the menu. The staff are very nice and super welcoming. I cant say enough good things about my favorite restaurant in the Niagara region.

Absolutely amazing experience. The calamari was the best I ve ever had and the tapioca pearls in the bubble tea melted in your mouth. Deliciously flavourful bone broth in the beef pho and wonderful service. No doubt we will be returning!

Pho is something my wife and I are relatively new to, having had it for the first time only about 4 years ago. We became hooked on this Vietnamese national dish and have tried quite a few in the region. Bar none, Pho 18 had the most tasty pho broth and one of the very few who has banh mi. I really suggest the Vietnamese sausage, either in a fresh roll or sandwich. Whenever I ask my wife when we dont have plans, what to have for dinner, every time the first answer is Pho 18.

I order from here every few weeks. The food is absolutely amazing and VERY fresh!!! Quick, friendly service as well. Thank you Pho 18 for not being a hit and miss restaurant! A hit every time so far. :)

Were picky when it comes to pho... everything was absolutely fantastic. And the service was great. Will deffinatly recomend and come here again. Very clean environment and fast service.

My family and I really enjoy the food and atmosphere at Pho 18. The owners and staff are always welcoming, and the food is delicious. We also do take out on game nights. We have been to other Pho restaurants with friends, but wish we had gone to Pho 18 instead. This one is our preference for vietnamese cuisine.

Excellent food and service.

.went with my daughter in-law for soup. The food is normally good. I ordered the deluxe Sea food pho. Large. And they had a odd seafood ball in it the mussels where all over grown and the broth was sweet. I had two bites. Told my server. And she didnt offer me another soup. And tossed out all the pho. Our cheese won ton were good. I wont be going back. :(

Horrible customer service

Very flavorful, friendly service and the restaurant is very clean. We had combo fresh rolls, the surf + turf rice and Tom yum soup upon recommendation. Everything was delicious! We will come again.

Delicious food! Great value for price! Friendly, kind service. Our server went out of her way to tell us about vegetarian and vegan options, simply because she noticed we were selecting vegetarian dishes from the menu. She said they could make anything on the menu vegetarian or vegan, just ask! The single serving of vegetarian pho was plenty for one person. We also ordered fresh rolls (perfect!) and crispy spring rolls (delicious!), and a salad. My husband ordered the double bowl of vegetarian pho, which was literally bigger than his head. Anyway, 2 pho, salad, spring roll and fresh rolls that more than fed 2 hungry grown adults was around $40+tip. Highly recommend!
