Nice little spot. Service could be better. The food is good, entertainment is great.
I am not from Thorold, but my friend and I were in Thorold for appointments for our children (3 kids ten and under). After the appointment, at about 6:50 pm, after reading reviews on Donnelly's, we decided to go eat there. There were 5 of us. Two adults and three kids. We were told by a girl at the door that we would have to pay $10 per person just to enter, because there was music. Are you kidding me!? $50 to walk in just to order food and leave? RIP OFF. We weren't there for the music, just a bite to eat. On. Wednesday night at 6:50pm. Needless to say, we left and I won't go back. Management needs to shake their head.
Been here a few times everytime we have gone something has been wrong with our order. Try to give local businesses a chance. Service for drinks was terrible. Order one drink lucky if you get another. It's not even busy. 12.99 for 12 onion rings ridiculous. Very unhappy customers
When you are in the area, this is a must stop for great food and service! We were visiting from Michigan and stopped in 2 days in a row to watch sports. Jamie was our server both days. Super friendly and accommodating. Loved her! Joe the owner was there both days as well (Go Yankees) he made us feel at home. The food! Phenomenal.....had fish and chips, the liver and onions, and the Sunday special turkey dinner. Every meal was home cooked and huge portions. Best liver and onions!! Also listened to the blues band on Saturday. 1st class music! Can't say enough good things about this Pub. Thanks Jamie and Joe for making this a most memorable vacation! 🦁🐯💙
Not sure if they were short on staff, but service was suuuper slow. 20min to take our order, 35 to bring the order. Food was pretty good.
Large poutine isnt large at all compared to other resturants in the area i was still hungry and the take out container wasnt even full. There was green onions on it and i didnt ask for themm or nessasarrily like them. Staff and service are great but if i order a large poutine i expect it to be largeee not just cover the bottom of the takeout container and maybe remove the green onions not everyone likes them Service is deffs 5/5 but i was very sad with my poutine Fries are cheap as hell why cant they actually be largee
We stopped in on a weekend afternoon in late May to check out the live music on the outdoor patio while traveling. We had a late lunch while there - Greek salad and shrimp po boy. Our server was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was laidback and easy. Parking is on the street - we circled around a couple times to find a spot. The band was great!
My wife and I were in town for a weekend and saw Donnelly's had a Blues Festival on a Saturday afternoon. We arrived early to eat lunch and ordered the Fish & Chips which was outstanding. While eating, we met the owner, Joe who was so kind and welcoming to us. The music was fabulous and while listening, we talked with so many of the local patrons who were very kind and fun. What a great experience with great people, food and music!

Basic bar food, served hot and fresh. Servers did a great job navigating around the concert goers.
Took longer than 40 min to even take our orders after waiting to even be talked to. Terrible service.
The only reason they got 4 out of 5 for service was they were woefully understaffed for the Blues festival but staff there were running and were great!
We eat here at once or twice a week. The staff are fantastic and the food is amazing and the portions are generous. Definitely recommend Donnellys

Great blues music, can be loud but perfect if you like that as I do ! Good food ... Great ambience. Saturdays 2:30 - 6pm. Fun time. Parking: Parking on street is free for 2 hrs so may have to go out & move vehicle.

My friends and I came to check out the live band at Donnellys. What a great Band. The atmosphere was fantastic and the servers were so amazing. Ordered the house burger...very delicious. Hope to visit again.

great fish, ff were ok not the best but ok, Coleslaw tastes like whomever was making the salad shredded the cabbage walked away and never returned to season it. Still one of the better fish n chip dinners.. but look after the small details.. cold food with cold food hot with hot ie; coleslaw with fish n chips served warm :-(

I recently visited Donnellys Pub in Thorold, Ontario, and I must say I was thoroughly impressed. The service was exceptional - friendly and attentive, making me feel welcomed and comfortable from the moment I walked in. But the real highlight was the food. The menu has an impressive selection, and everything I ordered was absolutely mouth-watering. I was blown away by how delicious it was, and everything was cooked to perfection. And lets not forget about the beer - its always cold and refreshing, the perfect complement to the amazing food. Overall, Donnellys Pub is definitely worth a visit. With great service, mouth-watering food, and ice-cold beer, you wont be disappointed. Highly recommend!

This Is must go to spot in Thorold, food is always fresh, ordered the poutine (minus green onions)*which does come with it unless asked for it not to be put on* the waitresses/bartender was so generous to ask if I wanted the onions on or not I said no thank you as onions arent my thing, food came out piping hot service was fast and the owner was there the night we were there he is truly a genuine person! Will be back again forsure and this is a must go to spot! Patio is amazing! Lived bands too ! With very unique and some know blues singers will be back !
Hubby (who is a Donnelly) and I just happened across this pub while out on a drive (we live in St Catharines). What a lovely place, live music and the service in superb! We will become regulars.

Amazing place. Super friendly staff. Food is amazing and they are always trying new things. They have live music Friday Saturday and Sundays. The last Wednesday of each month they host an open mic for local talent to come out and expand their chops. If you are in town and looking for a good time so not pass on Donnellys pub

Fantastic for service and a good mix of live music to take advantage of the shaded courtyard. As a regular customer our go-to is the BBQ Bacon Burger. Fish/Chips and Sheppards Pie are also exceptional!
Best Wednesday night open mic. Its always good, and every now and then, its magic.

Super good food and service. My husband wouldnt even put ketchup on his fries they were so hot and delicious. We tried the Irish coffee. That was so good. Ha-we are nearly 70 years old and never had Irish coffee. To the server that suggested this...THANK YOU.
Fantastic little downtown pub with well-priced dished, extremally friendly staff, and a nice local atmosphere. For best results, bike to locations along the canal. Food
We went on an extremely busy Friday evening with a rock concert happening beside this place that same evening it was a bustling plus Friday is Fish n Chip Special. The fish n chips were excellent, great value 10.99 for 1 piece with fries and coleslaw! Live music on the patio was also really good!

The Irish Onion soup on Friday was awesome. Unfortunately, on Saturday, it was not. There were barely any onions, the cheese was missing, and it was warm, not hot. So, first meal had us coming back for more, second trip left us thinking we probably wouldnt be back.

We were recommended to go there so we thought wed try it. We had fish and chips, battered mushrooms, and loaded garlic bread. The meal was so good. The only thing qe had a bit of a disappointment was there wasnt enough garlic on the garlic bread. But the rest was awesome.

Food: flavourful hot and good presentation. Wait staff: friendly and exceptionally fast. Great outdoor space and very clean. Good flow to the design made it easy to navigate and no crowded feel. Another hidden gem in Thorold.

I live across the street in one of the apartments on Front Street. I appreciate all the live music I get to hear from Donnellys on Saturday and Sunday, no sarcasm. Seems like a great place, Ill definitely stop by for a pint one day when I am not drowning in university school work. Keep it up and thanks for the free entertainment from the comfort of my home.

Related, somehow related to The Black Donnellys This Pub with a beautiful beach tree lined hedge, serves, many a cyclist, live blues band, craft beer, and excellent pub fare. This fellow named, Joe manages a fine establishment, in Historical Downtown Thorold.

I wish I had taken few pictures of the patio! We had it to ourselves this afternoon. Despite the lack of sun the temp was perfect and the food was amazing! Good times with some old friends with a 30+ year history. The service was AMAZING. Highly recommended, A++

Had a nice pint of Guinness. Server was friendly. Place was very quiet, a little dark. Not an awful experience. Seemed to cater towards an older crowd, but I didnt feel unwelcome.
Great spot to grab a pint, have some delicious food (highly reccomend the Irish nachos) and watch bands! Very warm and welcoming staff as well! Great spot to go if youre in the Thorold area!

Just ordered my kids and I some dinner through Skip the Dishes and it was delicious! My burger was perfect, my daughter said her kids meal of fish and chips was amazing, she got 3 huge pieces. Would definitely go back
Went for my moms birthday & the place was fantastic. Everyone was impressed with the food, the prices are great especially for the large portions, and the staff were super friendly & accommodating. I would definitely recommend - my only suggestion is maybe adding some plant based options in the future!
