Pho Umami in Thunder Bay

Alright Vietnamese food. Especially for Thunder Bay with such small Asian community.

Pho broth was too sweet and strong cinnamon flavor.

Great food with amazing taste and quality. Highly recommend!

Only one size of pho. Spring rolls and a bowl of pho was too much for one person. I did enjoy the leftover soup the next day. The spring rolls were big and crispy, but needed a bit more of the spice.

Been here quite a few times, never had a bad meal, staff are great, and the best Pho Ive had in the city.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was very relaxing and I had a very good feeling when i eat my food and the quality of the food was also very good and the behavior of the restaurant staff was very good and polite.

It was really quiet, probably due to the snow but WOW did we ever eat well!! And bring tons home~ very generous servings of excellent food

Ordered 40$ worth of pho and rolls, delivered to the hotel I was staying in. Soup came with no chop sticks nor spoon. Called them and was basically told that this is my fault, since I didnt order these.. so I replied that I ordered online and there was no option for such an order.. otherwise Id definitely order spoon&sticks, since I am hungry and want to eat my pho somehow.. the lady on the other side kept repeating but thats one dollar order. So, I hung up and slurped my soup.

Huge portion for the special pho, not expensive considering how much food you get from the broth to the various meats to the noodles and the fresh vegetables and herbs. Friendly service, satisfying meal. Would definitely recommend trying it

This was first having pho. It was good, but I had no frame of reference. I got the Tom Yum Pho, Veggie Spring Roll and Summer Roll which were good. I came with a friend who advised on the quality and said that the Pho wasnt as salty or flavourful as other pho theyve had in the past. Ill give the Tom Yum Pho 7.8/10, Veggie Spring Roll 7.9/10 and the Summer Roll was 7.2/10. Would I recommend? Cant say, but I do want to try more pho places. Thanks. Vegetarian options: Little greasy, but good.

Excellent flavours. The pho beef broth was probably the best I ever had. Pad Thai was full of tasty shrimp and chicken. Im glad I decided to order from here.

First the good; the atmosphere seemed okay, the food didnt take too long to come out. Now what you want to hear - the pho came with cilantro and not basil (she said they ran out) and no hot peppers (good thing I brought my own). The broth was barely passable, they were very stingy with the beef (for almost 20 bucks a bowl I felt swindled), and they dont have the proper spoons. I know much of this sounds trivial, but it all adds up to a less than enjoyable experience. Who has the word pho in their name and not have basil?? Also had the spring rolls, they were not terrible.

There were only two tables with 4 customers in the restaurant and it took a long time to have our food served. The soup was not hot enough and the flavor was mediocre. Not a place we would return.

Broth in both Pho Tai and Wonton were excellent. But the mushy looking bean sprouts and over-cooked noodles brings down my rating. Also kinda pricy for soup.

The Pho was horrible, noodles were over cooked the also gave me old mint leaves and jalapeños. I ordered rare beef but my beef was over cooked. The also gave me only 3 beef balls. Everything about the pho was horrible wouldn t recommend it. Don t waste you re money.

Ordered rare beef pho, it came super fast. As you can see in the photo, its not rare beef. The beef was clearly precooked and quite thick for being pho beef. But it was tasty and the service was good

Delicious food, fresh ingredients. I had the Singapore Noodles, wow! crispy vegs with chicken, barbecue pork and generous amount of shrimp. Noodles were bordering on being overcooked, but the overall flavor was delicious. Hu bbie had the Vietnamese bowl and enjoyed it very much.

The food is delicious. Especially the salad roll! It s also a very affordable big bowl! But I hope the store can improve the plastic box. It s too leaky and you can t eat it at all! When we returned to the hotel, the lid of the container was broken!

Prices changed but everything else fine

Based on the reviews, tonight must have been a really off night for their kitchen. We ordered Pho Tom Yum (with egg), Wonton Soup, Mixed Greens stir fry, and two orders of spring rolls. The Pho was basically all noodles with a bland broth (was supposed to be sour and spicy). The wonton soup was okay, the mixed green stir fry was oily and way overcooked, and the spring rolls were overcooked and therefore very dry (see photo). To top it off, the plastic containers were not marked as recyclable. The rest of the food was in styrofoam, which is unfortunate but perhaps theres not a lot of options for packaging soups. Most everything ended up in the trash, which made the dinner all the more painful.

The food was amazing, I tried a wonton soup, was full of vegetables, good soup and pork slices in the bottom of the dish. A beautiful dish. The waitress was so kind, and suggested me some spicy creams to put on my dish.

I regret not trying this place sooner, Ive only tried the bon bons, chicken balls, beef with greens and chicken fried rice... let me tell you, I need to try more on the menu. I will definitely be ordering from there when I get the chance.

Nice place for a meal every once in a while. Sadly they dont serve sweet tea but thats just because Im a good ol southern boy and like me some. Regardless good place pricing could be better.

Always a good place for a noodle bowl, with good proportions and pricing. There are a variety of other Asian dishes like pad thai and low mein. You can call ahead to place your order, and most of the time its ready in about 30min.

Literally trying to poison their customers. Look how much of this styrofoam container has melted into my pho. Styrene is a known carcinogen, and care should be taken to prevent it from dissolving into foods. Needless to say I threw it out, I m not interested in cancer soup. Avoid this place if you value your health.

We got the Tom yum Pho and they customized it for us with chicken as we didnt want to have beef. The beef broth was cooked to perfection, noodle and bean sprouts were so fresh to have even though it was a take out. Appreciate the service

We really enjoyed the service and the food. The lady who served us is extremely polite and nice. The food portion is huge. Singapore noodles is the must have. The pho is hot,fresh and tasty. We ended up going the very next day during our short stay of 3 days.

Very busy stressed staff. Server did not warn me the dish I ordered was spicy after I told them I couldnt eat spicy. Wasted my money. They shrugged said sorry and made me pay any ways and hoped I would come again.

Friendly staff, Inside it s very basic furnishings and well not super inviting I ll say that, definitely not somewhere you go on a first date, even if you re not trying. Five star though because the food was awesome, been driving by for years finally decided to give them a try. Ordered Pho and spring roll and really it s the spring roll that blew me away. Don t always order them because lately most restaurants just serve whatever the truck brings but these were obviously made in house, well and if I m wrong so be it. Delicious super excited to get them again.

We needed a hot meal after travelling all day, we decided to try Pho Umami. We order through skip the dishes, and I have to say it was Amazing!!! The portions are great, the flavour is fantastic and the food was hot when it arrived. I would recommend anyone to try this!

This Vietnamese and Asian styled restaurant delivers delicious tasting cuisine in a friendly manner with a very relaxed atmosphere. I like the decor which looks somewhat traditional with a modern feel. They give large portions which is great and its fairly priced.

Loved the food. Very well prepared and accommodating. Love the fresh Spring Roll not all greasy like Thai Kitchen.

The interior has been nicely updated by new owners. Food is fresh and yummy and portion sizes are BIG. My partner said his noodle bowl was excellent (though Oriental Garden is still his favorite in Tbay, this comes in second). Great dinner option before heading across the street to see a movie!

It was my first time there. I gave their Pho a try and I was not disappointed. They make the best Pho in Thunder Bay! They just opened on June 2018 and it is quite a convenient location which is right across Silver City. You can have Vietnamese food before or after the movies. :)

Portions are small even for their large. I finished the large bowl of noodles in six bites. Same amount of noodles in an a Mr noodle pack. Felt gipped off. I would not recommend it.

Large portion size for the price. Menu is a little selective compared to other oriental restaurants in town. The food looked better than it tasted, almost as if the chef was afraid to push their seasoning that last little bit it needed.
