Java Hut in Thunder Bay

Only 1 cook was a bit of a wait but food was well worth. Java Hut never disappoints.

The food is so so so good. 10/10 recommend. Amazing service as well!

Enjoyed the featured Novemburger Friendly service Food

Ever since Covid I have not been to the Java Hut but for a couple of times. Was in there today Nov. 20th 2024 and I was very disappointed to see how slow the service has become. Taking a seat at the counter the waitress just kept going to the next person standing at the counter and skipping me as if I did not matter. This place has gone down hill and I will not be returning. Very sad as I used to lie this place very much for the food and good atmoshere of old friends meeting for a coffee and some good food but no more.

Quaint and cute diner with a friendly atmosphere. I needed some food and coffee after a long drive. The coffee was great, the food was very bland however. Ordered a burger and poutine - both were disappointing.

New York steak sandwich was a bit tasteless

I found hair rolled into my Finnish pancake I sent it back and was going to wait for a new order however my husband started to eat his food he lifted his toast and there was 3 long hair very noticeably on his plate definitely was intentional we did not get our money back nor did we get an apology it was so disgusting and the server had a smirk on her face you can clearly tell she was laughing at us ZERO STARS beware of going to this restaurant because like I said you do have to pre pay I even left a 15% tip for this unfortunate situation to happen

Great food, great service and very friendly

Usually good food good service good portions but I must say I just tried a hamburger nip and couldn t finish it. The meat was like mush and tasted horrible. Not sure where you got that patty from but you should switch suppliers or make your own. I ll probably go back because we still like the place but just stay away from the burger I guess.

We have travelled from Alberta to New Brunswick for 3 summers now. We stay at the super 8 every time we travel. We decided to eat dinner here. Fantastic! If I could give more stars I would. Really enjoyed the food, very friendly staff that came to check on us a few times. We will be coming back here on the way back and next summer both ways.

My husband is Finnish, so to be able to find (nearly authentic) Finnish pancakes in Canada was a real treat. The service was so great, the staff was all very kind and welcoming. If you are looking for a delicious, light, classic treat then I would highly recommend the Finnish pancakes. A great portion size for a great price!

I always enjoy having breakfast here. The staff are super nice and the food is great. Nice large tasty portions at a decent price. I also love the comfy feel of the building. It s like a visit to the past, which is awesome. Highly recommend.

I love this little diner. It is amazing in multiple ways. The staff is always super friendly and go the extra mile. now.... the food, on the other hand yummy.. i love every dish Ive had which is about 10 of them. And dont get me started on the amazing cherry cream cheesecake! Definitely worth the value and time.

Food is good. Staff is very nice, often know their regulars by name. Fish & Chips Fridays are the yummiest and their breakfast is good. Often busy.

had the unfortunate experience of dining at a local establishment and was disappointed with the quality of the food and service. I ordered the Salisbury steak, but was disappointed to find that the vegetables were overcooked and had lost their color. The steak itself was burnt, and when I brought this to the attention of the owner, he offered to make another one for me. While the new piece was served quickly, it appeared to be microwaved and was still pink in some spots. The onions on the second plate were much better, but still not up to par. The liver and onions were the highlight of the meal, but I did not receive the advertised vegetables as a side. While the portions were generous, the lengthy wait time and subpar quality of the food did not justify the $15 price point. Overall, I would not recommend this establishment.

Food was good. The owner served us and just like the employees, was very friendly. An inviting place to eat. Good Denver and soup.

A must have breakfast that i would not want to share. Service was excellent, the waitresses never let me see the bottom of my coffee mug. The portions were perfect, hearty meals. It is very clean and I would go back anytime. Lastly, the pie. Homemade delicious pies that are perfect for any occasion.

I knew this place was going to be good when I saw the squeeze bottle ketchup, salt, pepper and jelly basket on the table. It lived up to all that and so much more. I had the Spanish omelette. Both potatoes, omelette and even toast were very generous. The toast came pre-buttered which is always a plus in my book. The service was fast and friendly. The place was very clean. Looks like it was an old dunkin donuts or something. If youre looking for breakfast all day long in thunder Bay, make this your first stop and your second, third and fourth stop. My only regret is Im only passing through thunder Bay and only had a chance to enjoy this place once.

It a tiny quaint place with nice people serving good food. Id recommend going for a nice brekky with your nan. Dietary restrictions: They may not be able to offer dairy substitutions.

I stayed the last two nights and the first night had the burger and last night had the meatloaf special. Staff was exceptionally friendly, one girl seemed to be off work last night chatting with some regulars and just seemed to be very customer service oriented. The girl working the cash was very friendly and kept asking if my food was good. The gentleman who I think was the owner walked around and made sure everyone was satisfied and this place seems to really get the customer service end of the business. They were Def the talk of the town and well known for their good eats. Very pleased and would def go back again if ever in town. Great place and a must eat at if passing through.

I really like this restaurant and atmosphere. I love the breakfast all day and enjoyed other menu items Ive ordered. This evening I ordered the Lasagna special and found the dish too salty. I wont order it in the future.

This place is terrible (BIG FAT 0 STARS) My boyfriend and I decided to try breakfast here today. neither of us have ever been in this restaurant before. We didnt know that you have to order at the counter when you walk in. We ended up sitting for 10mins wondering what was happening. None of the staff informed us we had to order from the counter, they just kept walking by us with twisted faces. They could have just said something.. We got up and walked out and went somewhere else! I do not recommend this place nor will I return to give it a try. Terrible.

I have been in Thunder Bay 15 yrs. Decided to go for the 1st time yesterday around Noon. I walked in sat down for about 10 minutes , and walked back out. All the staff were ignoring me, or it was because they were on thier phones, I dont know how many times a waitress walked right by me. I Will never be back. WHAT A SHAME. I am friends with a part time cook here and was excited about trying the breakfast.

Normally the food i get here is amazing! I ordered two pancake meals through skip the dishes and both orders had burnt pancakes. I was so dissatisfied and disappointed at the quality of food I paid so much for.

Quesadilla was on point! Open a wee bit later on Sunday evening than a lot of places in town.

This has been a staple in our home for years and years. Joe is a great host! The menu is vast to suit all tastes. The prices are very reasonable for the food you get. They will also accommodate any requests you may have within reason. I love the breakfast and the hot turkey.

It is meticulously clean, has righteously crispy home fries, big portions, enough coffee to turn your eyes brown(er), and a cozy, congenial atmosphere that keeps repeat diners coming back. Super cute diner vibe place. If ypur looking foe the local greasy spoon but without a ton of actual food grease this place is great. Came with the family enjoyed ll of our food. You order at the counter and pay, then the server brings it to your table.

The staff and the restaurant is nice, but I think they need to increase their speed and capacity of making food. Just waiting for almost an hour to get a simple order of chicken sandwich. Customers time should be valued more.

i pop by time to time and have the hot turkey today i went for a club house asked for extra mayo on it, they give it to me on side, how daf could they be that you will pull apart 4 pieces to try even to attempt to put the extra mayo on with out it all falling apart wont be back!

Im not sure if they were understaffed or just overwhelmed by delivery orders but the food took forever to come out and then was cold like it had just been sitting around in the back.

Portions were not acceptable for the price we paid. Unfortunately this is the last time I consider going here. No turkey on my sandwich. Pie was the smallest piece for the price. Never again if that was the best Joe can offer..

Ordered from before...food was good...however walked in on a 2nd outing 15mins before closing, only to be told they couldnt make any food because the kitchen was already closed...proper bussiness is to be able to serve your customers what they order from your menu till closing

Didnt get what we ordered for the 3rd time wow so glad I wasted my time and Cesar salad is made with romaine lettuce hello. The worst place its like here what we want you to eat lol never again you guys arent worth the price is insane 30$ for 2 salads and no supper I ordered wow

Very bad and impolite waiters, they forgot my order and after 20 minutes of waiting, turned out they messed it up with another table order. Waited another 15 min to finally get my order. The food was average, not bad, not great either. I wont go there again. Priced high compare to the quality.

Place was recommended on our first trip through TB- ordered the Greek salad and it was very good (we ate in, and the owner prepared it). Ate there again 3weeks later and the closing time changed so we could only have take out. Ordered the Greek Salad again and it was terrible - the lettuce was so bad, it was like compost. And the lettuce wasn t even cut up- huge pieces of brown wilted lettuce. Way, way too much dressing. It was not prepared by the owner as he was having coffee at the counter. Sous chef needs training. Very disappointing.

amazing food have been going to java hut since I was in diapers but its always so busy so I usually recommend take out. Parking: open parking lot lots of space to park Kid-friendliness: as soon as I walked in all the staff greated me and my daughter we sat at the counter waiting for our order and the chef gave my daughter some strawberries to snack on while we waited.

This is your typical diner. The food is absolutely amazing! Its some of the best fare Ive had, you wont be disappointed! I did find the service to be somewhat lacking. Nobody asked how the food was, and I had to go to the front counter to ask for a refill of coffee.

Very disappointed with their Club melt. Ham, turkey, cheese and tomato, what a tasteless sandwich. And the small portion of fries that came with it. Like come on! potatoes are not that expensive. They are trying to get rich from potatoes. Is there new owners or something, or did they lose it? You re best to order all day breakfasts there, you get more for your buck.

The service was pleasant. I had a Meat Scrambler. It was tasty but not excellent. The eggs tasted well done. The sausage was very good. Normally it has a well processed taste. The shocker was that it was $30.00. If you are on a budget this may not be the most economical. Overall it wasnt bad.

Great little local eatery. All the typical foods you would expect from such a place. Be warned, there is no table service. You need to go up to the till and order when youre ready. We sat at our table waiting for quite a while before the lady behind the counter informed us.

Horrible customer service skills. I didnt even get a coffee. They asked me for my dogs service card and for her letter and after seeing my drivers license and COVID shot proof of 2nd dose told me the credit and debit was down

I went in to ask thr Owner if we could post a MMIWG Trees of Hope Ceremony poster. The place was packed & smelled so good. People were happily socializing & having their meals. Nice to see people out & about again.

I have never been, the reviews look great. Just wanted to comment that you should consider renaming to Java the Hutt. Its right there for the taking...
