Bight Restaurant & Bar in Thunder Bay

I had the grilled caesar salad and the shrimp and lobster pasta. Both were delicious! We also shared most of the appetizers and enjoyed every bight ;). Thank you for the excellent service!

The food, service and ambiance were all excellent. The menu has a variety of choices with different pairings. We shared an appetizer and entrée and it was enough for us both. High recommend it!

Overpriced, underwhelming. For the price you d expect a higher end meal, this is not the case. Burger was over cooked and lacking of any sauce. Chicken and couscous had no flavour other than a weeks worth of salt.

Went with friends and sat on the patio. A little chilly, but they have blankets to cover up. Ordered the shareable appies as it was late, and they were very good. I didnt take any photos as I left cell in car.

Had a great pre-flight lunch at Bight. They had a great gluten free bun and the Club sandwich was delicious. Dietary restrictions: Easy to order gluten free.

We really enjoyed eating on the patio and watching the boats coming and going. This is a wonderful place to have a quiet meal. The service was amazing however we weren t overly impressed with the food and drinks. We will give it another try with different selections as we did enjoy the atmosphere. I had the sangria which was meh and another cocktail that I could barely finish. We shared the Fritto Misto which was very good, the Nashville Hot Chicken which was alright and the Bacon Honey Flatbread which was very basic. We will definitely give it another try.

Excellent food! We had the Reuben sandwich (nice balance of ingredients, tender bread) and the smoked salmon sandwich (delicious GF bread, salmon ok). The mocktails are all interesting. I had the lemonade: original and fruity. The waitresses were smiling and offered us good advice. Dog allowed on the terrace, a plus for us Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free options

Im not in the habit of writing reviews online but felt that I had to write one for Bight Restaurant. We held a Celebration of Life luncheon at Bight on June 21/2024 in their Mariners Hall. Its located in the Thunder Bay Marina so already a beautiful setting. The room was lovely and bright with floor to ceiling windows, tables were appointed with crisp linens and the buffet was well presented. I do not live in Thunder Bay and arranging an event was a bit of a challenge. Bianca was so helpful in responding to all my questions and concerns. She was very attentive on the day without intruding. Sarah, our server, did an excellent job keeping the food and drinks refreshed and attending to all the guests needs. The lunch was a buffet sandwich lunch with 5 different types of sandwiches, soup, salad, veggie and hummus tray. Dessert tray was delicious and tea/coffee/water was kept replenished. Everyone commented on how lovely the room was and the quality of the food. The cost was reasonable as well. I would not hesitate to recommend Bight for any type of reception. Good job and thank you so much.

We just hosted a private team event at Bight for a 50th Anniversary and Team dinner. Nick went out of his way to make sure the experience was exceptional from the speedy setup, cocktail delivery and DELICIOUS family style meal. I would highly recommend for a big gathering to a table of 2. To the Chef: the meal was simply delicious- thank you!

Both the food and service was amazing, the tables arent too close together and they dont play the music too loud that you need to yell, not to mention the view. Our waiter did a fantastic job checking on us and getting us everything we could possibly need. We started the evening with the tuna tartare and it was the best quality tuna Ive ever had, the seafood pasta was packed with seafood in every bite and the braised Lamb had an amazing depth of flavour, we finished off the night with the affogato. I would recommend every single dish we had. Hats off to the kitchen. We will come back.

Attended a Book launch for our late Elder recently..Have attended many events here in the past from Breaking the Glass Ceiling to community events. Great location, atmosphere, views & food are all high quality at affordable prices. Highly recommended restaurant.

Good option for a nice sit down restaurant, with a nice view of the lake and nice ambiance. Decently well priced plates. One of the dishes we ordered was the shakshouka. The eggs were well done which I think runny would be better because it can mix well with the tomato sauce. The bread that accompanied the dish was delicious and fresh. We also got the burger. The truffle was really nice, brought out a nice flavour to the burger. Meat was a bit dry as it tends to be when it is well done. A good burger with medium rare patties are the way to go to get that juice when you bite into it. Definitely appreciate the two patties however. We also tried the pastrami hash. Nicely done but nothing outstanding in the dish overall. Overall the dishes had good flavour. Service was great; our waiter Jake was lovely.

Very disappointed! Menu is minimal. Very little options! Ordered the roasted chicken! 1 small bone in breast with 5 small pieces of potato for 33$ Not worth it! Husband had the flatbread, nothing exciting! Service was excellent but won t be back to eat! Will enjoy drinks on their patio!

Brunch was excellent on Saturday,I have never had baked potato soup. We really enjoyed it with the turkey BLT that we split. Huge sandwiches

Great meal and service! Even the show that happened when a party arrived late and asked for different tables. When this was not possible, they then proceeded to tell the staff they were rude and to serve them. They ended up leaving and we re very rude and inappropriate. The staff definitely handled the situation well. All while this party recorded it. I hope they look back to see how they shouldn t speak to wait staff. Highly recommend the Tallymore Smash Burger and Bight! Also glad to have chose the seat at the bar looking at the water to watch the staff diffuse the situation. Great work!

Excellent food and service.

We were in town for work and stopped in for dinner. The food was amazing ( it took us almost an hour to decide what to order because we wanted to try everything) but I will say what made this a 5 star rating was the phenomenal server we had ! Ally was probably one of the best servers I have ever had and the rest of the party I was with agree. She was funny and helpful and made the horrible day we all had into the best night with alot of laughs ! If you ever go here you must ask for Ally !!!!!!

This is a lovely restaurant on the boardwalk for date night. Our server was spectacular & was training another server who is going to do great there. They helped me decide which cocktail to get and I ended up loving it - I got the Amethyst Mine & my husband started with a Caesar which was well garnished. We wanted the Ahi Tuna & Cucumber to start but they were unfortunately out of it so we got the Frito Misto instead. It was delicious & I liked how they put the sauce on the bottom of the dish instead of in ramekins - just made the dish more elevated. We needed help with choosing a bottle of wine that would pair nicely with both of our mains & our server suggested the perfect selection! I got the Shrimp Casarecce which was cooked beautifully & very flavourful with a tasteful amount of spice! My husband got the Striploin Steak which he really enjoyed! They cooked it rare for him even though they suggest MR. No room for dessert but was brought over a menu just to look. We re really happy with our experience & highly recommend.

I eat at Bight every time Im in Thunder Bay and they never disappoint! Its the best place to enjoy a great meal with amazing service in the best location in town. The caesar salad is the best Ive eaten anywhere.

They have tables outside in the patio which can get a little cold with a breeze coming off the water. But the patio area has heaters and they also offer blankets. Food was amazing and well worth the price. Great atmosphere to get away for a night. Super friendly and professional staff. Highly recommend.

What a gem of a restaurant! Fine dining quality food in a laid back atmosphere. The chef here clearly knows what he/she is doing. The waiter for my visit was super friendly and really knowledgeable about the dishes on the menu. There were 4 in my party, everyone ordered something different and we were all blown away by the dishes we received. Ill be coming back here again for sure.

My last night in Thunder Bay and I had , by far , the best meal of the trip at Bight . My salmon was perfectly cooked and quite delicious. I rarely order a fish entree but very glad I did . The view of Lake Superior was a bonus and service was great. I very much enjoyed the cocktail before dinner , a very unique rye-based drink with several fruit juices and puree . Highly recommended !!

We had our after wedding dinner here a few days ago and were super happy with the food, the service and everything. We were a little nervous having a larger reservation (24 people) and it went off without a hitch. Our servers were incredible and super attentive, it was very much-appreciated. We were also very pleased with the pricing and the value is top knotch.

Nothing particularly special. This restaurant was recommended by our host, perhaps because it was an upmarket place. Food was average, service was standard, nothing special.

This place is one of those places in Tbay which you can enjoy a delicious salad, good service and a view of beautiful lake. I would come back again.

The service was friendly and inviting. The patio was beautiful. I had the Spicy Swinger cocktail that was deliciously spicy and sweet. My husband had the Old Fashioned that was made to his specifications of half sweet. We started with the Fritto Misto that was tender & crispy & the Tomato chick pea soup. We didn t want to rush and took our time and we never felt rushed whatsoever. Finishing our delightful afternoon lunch we ordered the very delicious and refreshing Pear&Raddicchio salad and the Farmers Rueben. Wow. That was the best Rueben my husband has ever had. The fries were the Pièce de résistance! Home cut fries that were crispy and were not even a smidge greasy ! Let s not forget the house made ketchup! Bravo !!! You made this Winnipeg girl happy!!!!

Food was delicious, service was friendly but our food was so slow in coming they offered us free desserts we didn t ask or even complain to the servers about the slowness so kudos to the staff for taking this in hand. And now they get a five star review because of how good everything was and how they handled a glitch.

Wonderful food, wonderful service.

Needs a face-lift big-time.. food is just that food... The Putin was so salty we could not eat it, the fish was fine ,burger over cooked as well as the chicken, even though I asked for it not to be over done but it was. Its right in front of the water, yet you would never know this fact while sitting inside,as its dark and very boring. Looks like upkeep is not a priority.

One of the best restaurants in Thunder Bay. The Reuben sandwich for lunch is my absolute favorite.

Sometimes it is the small things. From afar we noticed our waiter holding up a wine glass to the light. It must have been less than perfectly clean. He replaced it before bringing it to our table. All of our meals were prepared with care and were delicious. Brilliant location. And the prices were reasonable too.

Hostess was great, service stopped at the door. We were seated on the patio for 20+ minutes with absolutely zero service. The server attended the table beside us 3 to 4 times without acknowledging we were there ready to order. She did however talk about her cats to us. We took that as a sign that we may get a drink order in? Wrong. We eventually left in disbelief, hungry, thirsty and frustrated. The single star is for the hostess

Friendly staff. Not much for plant based options but the chef loves to create on the fly as long as its not crazy busy! Just ask and they will do their damnedest to make it happen!

Went out for date night and got greeted by our server Victoria. She was EVERYTHING you could ask for in a server; friendly, funny, checking in at the right time (never when I had a mouth full of food), knowledgable about the menu. We shared some great conversation, and she still managed to show the same level of attention to all her other tables. I havent been served by someone so well in ages! Well be going back just for a chance to get served by her again! Food was also quite good.

Everything was good except a worker named Mario , he was intentionally bumping into my table multiple times. Making the whole restaurant image bad for the customers. When I asked another worker to tell him to stop, they both laughed about it. He needs to be aware of customer boundaries.

Bight is definitely a go to for the food and location ! My mom and I thoroughly enjoyed our entrees, desserts, and cocktails! Our server was superb as well !

Nice to sit on the patio and relax in the fresh air. Our table didnt have a great view of sleeping giant but others might. Food and service were excellent!

My husband and I dined here for dinner this evening. We are traveling across the country and are always looking for a lovely, local experience. Our server was Jojo and he was fantastic. He was personable and gracious. When our meal took just a few minutes extra, he comped one of our drinks. The food was very good and the setting was very nice. We were seated by the window over looking the splash park and got to watch the children play. It was a lovely evening and Jojo s service was top notch. Thank you!

Meh. I wasnt super impressed for the price. I also probably should have known, but the place wasnt super child friendly. If you are going out as a family, probably better to search for somewhere else.

A restaurant that looks like a real restaurant! It s not always easy to find such an establishment in the area! The decoration is perfect, very refined, too bad for the heaters which work on summer evenings when its over 20 degrees! Its not very ecological. The dishes are very beautiful and good. The menu is not very extensive and it is a shame that we are not entitled to lunch options in the evening. These are two different menus for lunch and dinner. No childrens menu but they agreed to make a cheese pizza. Unfortunately, no vegan option except for an accidental one: the breaded cauliflower bites which are succulent but not everyone likes cauliflower The quantities are small. The price of the dishes is expensive. You have to have a good budget to eat there. Very friendly staff!

A fun place with a great patio to enjoy the busy marina. We appreciated their fantastic staff who were attentive but not bothersome. The food was excellent with generous portions and the drinks were creative and tasty.

The service was great. It s a great place to hang out with friends/family especially in the summer. The outdoor dining view was perfect, you can the see the boats and there is a beautiful view of the lake!

My experience was awful here! We waited a pretty long time to get tasteless food. In dinner menu Grilled Caesars have bacon but there was no bacon in our food! Feeling so upset and deceived :(

I dont know where to start! Except for the the Amathyst Mine drink I had, the meal was pitiful! The soup, if they were trying to replicate Campbells Vegetable from the can they nailed it! I had the Smash Burger. Beginning with the presentation? It came by itself woth no garnishment in a small 6 inch (deep dish) pie plate that made it difficult to grab so I tried cutting it in half. The knife had a hard time cutting through the patty and most of it was literally unchewable! Although the bun was good. For desert I had the brownie. Best I can say, the presentation was great. Unlike the burger the tiny 2 square brownie came on a huge 12 plate with drizzle and cocoa powder. I love dessert but the only joy was the scoop of icecream that bearly fit on the tiny brownie. All in all -Great location. -A bit of ambiance but with a cafeteria vibe (and food). -Great outdoor space in the summer. -Terrible service Ive been to Bight several times with off & on good servce but yet to have a good meal. $100 bucks for a bad $25 meal with terrible service, definitely gets a thumbs down from me.

The Cauliflower wings were sooo good, Service was amazing, except for the drink for what ever reason they took forever we saw them sitting on the counter .... waiting, but the food was quick and delicious. Maybe the menu is a bit small. Vegetarian options: Cauliflower wings were amazing Parking: Parking was a bit crazy but that was because of wake the giant. Kid-friendliness: We saw children here. Wheelchair accessibility: I didnt see any stairs. Ground level. Wide hallways. There is room around tables so a wheelchair could fit.

Great location by the lake. Awesome vibe. Excellent servers. Great food. I had the Shrimp Linguine Big Lake Pasta Linguine, Butterflied Shrimp, Pesto, Confit Cherry Tomatoes, Asiago, Arugula - delicious!! Highly recommend when you in Thunder Bay.

Its not cheap, but it was worth every penny. Service was excellent, food was excellent, and the view is not too shabby either! 10/10 recommended.

Whoever the manager or owner was working at the bar...figuring out wine stock in his emo-industrial look....find an office....you were not helping at all. When I pay 100$ for a ONE person meal, i dont want to see staff folding piles of napkins at the bar. Food, OK.....but Im a very good home cook. Dont want to knock the chef...they made an Ok lamb shank. But the greens were quite bitter. But I did love the tomatos in that dish. All in all, you have a PRIME location in the city, the food better match the price, atmosphere be perfect from 12pm to 12am, and the trucker hat manager stay out of the dinning area.

Today I visited Bight to try their #NorthernDelights menu. I enjoyed every single bite of every dish. I love how they considered the use of fall ingredients. I totally recommend it. The drink on the photo is Paloma. Service was good.

We recently had our wedding and reception here as this is where we ate the night we got engaged. It was perfect. The staff did an absolutely amazing job setting up for us. The food was perfect! We could not have selected a better venue and we are so appreciative to all the staff. 15/10 I cant recomend this restaurant enough!

Great setting and service. Had the lamb shank which was excellent and then the Banana Catalana which was quite disappointing. Obviously preprepared and from the fridge and that just doesn t work with caramelised bananas. The frothed cream on top was also something I would expect from a fast food restaurant and not a quality establishment. However, overall I enjoyed the evening and will return.

This is a very good restaurant. If I could give it 4.5 stars I would. The view of the marina is beautiful, the staff are all friendly. The food is good, but not exceptional. I literally have no complaints but there is still a bit of room for improvement.

Our meals were hit and miss, salads were good, but the ribs were tough and the French onion soup just average.

Friendly staff, we enjoyed our food, the Chicken sandwich with French Onion soup and the Red Fin Trout with Poutine.

Tried to call to see if any tables were available, and no one would answer the phone. Drove to the restaurant and waited in line for 15 minutes where the hostess would not even acknowledge the 12 people in line to even let us know that she would be right with us (cleaning tables). Then when she finally came, we were told the restaurant was full with a wedding. Perhaps you can post a sign or give other people a heads up when there is no more seating as they wait inane with their kids or others? Common courtesy goes a long way and its so easy to do

Recently the owner of the restaurant herself came out and treated myself and my out of town guests and I was pleased to see such great care coming out of the owner. She really cares about her restaurant and every single customer that comes through the door. I was very pleased with my time at Bight! Thank you all again!

Great location right on the waterfront with lovely views of the harbour and sleeping giant. Service is helpful and friendly, though possibly a little understaffed at the moment. Shared a pizza and the steak and thoroughly enjoyed it. The signature cocktails were delicious as well. If youre looking to get away from the standard pub fair, this is a great option

My friend and I stopped in for a late late lunch/early dinner when we were driving from Kenora back to Burlington. We were stopping in Nipigon for the night and decided to try Bight before gassing up and continue our journey east. The food was delicious! Being mid-week at 5pm, the place was fairly empty. Thankfully there was enough staff who preferred working over collecting CERB, and we had a lovely meal while one of us looked out to the beautiful waterfront, while one of us looked into the restaurant with gorgeous pieces of artwork for sale. It was really hard picking off the menu, so we each did the 2 appetizers each and shared thing. I had the Bibb and Asparagus Salad - so fresh tasting after a lot of fried food on the road! Boston butter lettuce, shaved asparagus, mint, walnuts, Manchego cheese with a lemon vinaigrette and some diced chicken breast on top. Absolutely delicious! Also had the Cocktail Shrimp - 6 plump and juicy chilled shrimps with Romesco and grilled focaccia. Very tasty. My friend had the Mexican Rice Bowl and the Poutine which was a hearty bowl of potatoes, Bight gravy, Thunder Oak Farms cheese curds, braised brisket and topped with sour cream and chives. The service was great given the scarcity of staff in restaurants and bars these days, and the food was topnotch. Cheers.

I booked a reservation online for dinner with my bf at least one week before the date. They were calling for scattered rain in Thunder Bay that day. We were from out of town so my bf and I were out sightseeing all day and all over Thunder Bay. It only rained a little bit and it was definitely not raining at our Airbnb which was 15 minutes away from the restaurant. Maybe two hours before our reservation, the restaurant called and said they have to cancel my reservation due to rain. And that theyre only doing indoor dining. I dont know why they just didnt say the patio is closed but we can have dinner inside the restaurant and not cancel my reservation at all. So I asked that. And at first the person on the phone hesitated. Then he said we can have dinner indoors but were gonna have to sit at the bar. I said ok. Anyway, its time to leave to make our reservation. It hasnt rained at all since the phone call from the restaurant. So we were hopeful that maybe they decided to re-open their patio. We get there and the patio was empty. The tables and chairs were put away. But the ground was dry, indicating that it didnt rain there either. We get in the restaurant. There were 2 groups of diners that occupied 2 tables. Still we were seated at the bar. Whatever. I didnt question this. My bf was looking dapper so I wasnt gonna let it ruin my night. Maybe they were expecting more people to arrive. But only 2 more groups of people arrived while we were there. So a total of 4 tables were occupied. There were 2-3 empty tables in between which I thought is above and beyond the Covid-19 distancing guidelines. Anyway, being seated at the bar was actually the only positive thing that came out of our experience. At least we were entertained by the bartending scene. We also ordered the Osake Moscow Mule and a Hennessey and rhubarb cocktail (I forget the name) and they were yummy. This is the 1 star in this review. I always try to look for the positives. Unfortunately, the bad review doesnt end at the bad service. I had the Mafaldine Pasta. It was so bad. Im the kind of person who eats everything on my plate. I only ate less than half of my pasta. My bf had burger and he had to give me half of it so I at least had something for dinner. My pasta was not only missing salt, it was also bitter. Regardless, I took my leftover home. Maybe at home I can add salt and save the dish. But it was not salvageable at all! When I tried it a couple of hours later, it became super bitter. I had to throw it out. It was $28. The experience left a bad taste in my mouth, figuratively and literally. If someone from the restaurant reads reviews, I was there on July 28. Maybe try to figure out how it went wrong and make sure that this doesnt happen again.

Service was good, the hamburger was cold and dry as if cooked hours before, the fries were charred and cold while the bread served with 7 small shrimp was hard and stale. The two stars are for the waiter only. This is best described a poor pub food.

Not judging the food, as weve got no opportunity to try it. Attempted to call, but nobody answers. Walked there for a table, and though there were few empty ones, we were told that they were fully booked. Apparently, only their patio was open. We walked on the harbour path and sat nearby - the empty tables remained empty, so I dont know if they were profiling us, or just mismanaged their reservation system.

Great food, beautiful scenery and awesome service. Big shoutout to Tom and Marielle for making our bachelorette night dinner an unforgettable experience. Cheers from the Gaspar-Melro crew!

4 weeks prior to our wedding we had to move venues and we luckily got into Bight. We had our reception dinner in Mariners hall attached to Bight. Bianca helped us organize the event with such short notice. She was fabulous to work with. The day of our event went so smoothly. The wait staff (sorry i cannot remember the names) was great. The food was fabulous. I honestly cannot say enough good about the experience we had. Thank you Bianca and Staff!

Best restaurant if youre looking for a place to chat while sharing a great meal. Not the cafeteria atmosphere found in the majority of restaurants.

nov 24, 2021. worst fish and chips ever. much more batter than fish, overcooked and served on a bed of yesterdays undersized and oversalted fries. unbelievable for a venue like this.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Thunder Bay.... The food is top notch. The ambiance is 5 star. The staff is great, and its not overly expensive. Highly recommended

Once again, they nailed it. We were there for mums birthday and everything was on point. Cocktails, wine and an absolutely stellar meal!

Excellent food

Solid restaurant, modern menu, interesting flavour pairings without being too wild for a smaller city. Wonderful wine and bar selection, respectable selection of single malts. Only complaint was over a salad I had two years ago. The beets were not skinned... Not a great choice. Side note: Love that they have the balls to use squid ink. When trying something new, remember that you dont know what it will taste like. People who do know, know that its good, so relax and let your mouth tell you about it.

This restaurant is really well located, being on the waterfront but the food is mediocre at best. The servers are friendly, professional and knowledgeable on the menu items. My date and I enjoyed the charcuterie board but the chicken was bland and the fish dish I ordered was just meh

Limited menu for vegetarians, but drinks were delicious and staff were very friendly. I felt very safe and taken care of!

I do not recommend the margarita pizza. It was first served Luke warm and half cooked. After getting it re-served fully cooked i realized there was not even one slice of tomato!! Nothing but a brush of sauce a sprinkle of cheese and 5 basil leaves (which after recooking were tasteless). Our waiter was new and very good.

Rarely do we give restaurants five stars, however we give credit where credit is due and Bight lived up to our expectations. From the kind and attentive staff, reasonable prices and generous portions, to the beautiful location overlooking the water, we were very impressed with our first experience. Thunder Bays food scene definitely isnt as lively as Toronto or Ottawas, however Bight is a gem that tries something different in a town that is used to the same old same old. We read through the reviews prior to visiting and decided on the poutine and fish and chips, subbing out a salad for the fries with the fish. The poutine was delicious, fries cooked well, exactly what we would come to expect from a poutine considering my wife and I are from Ottawa and Montreal respectively. The fish was done very well, nice and moist, and the salad greens were wonderful with a nice light dressing. For dessert we had the bread pudding which was nice and fluffy (but also dense) and just the right amount of caramel dotted on the plate for dipping. We had one mixed drink that was delicious. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the restaurant has done a wonderful job at not packing the place and keeping everyone socially distant. Thanks so much for a wonderful dinner, keep up the good work!

Three of us ate here recently on a Friday evening. Real nice facilitiy situated right on the water. The waitress was friendly and helpful. The food was a disappointment. We each ordered the fish and chips with the fancy name. Overcooked and dried out and definitely not worth the $19.00 price tag. We unanimously agreed it was a disappointment.

One of my favourite restaurants in the city. Amazing food and excellent service. They really go above and beyond. I wanted a sweet drink and my server made something to my taste even though it wasnt on the menu. I never regret coming here for food or drinks.
