Daytona's Restaurant in Thunder Bay

This was our first time and unfortunately we were pretty disappointed. 4 of us ordered the Daytona burger and the the meat was extremely dry and a charred, definitely was not worth the price at all. Had to ask for stuff not really the waitresses fault it was busy but will never take staff there in the future.

Ordered last minute apps for take out for a gathering and they were perfect.

Excellent quick lunch here. Enjoyed Prosciutto Goat Cheese Pizza, Blackened Chicken Sandwich and Cauliflower Cream Soup which were all delicious. The only minor issue was lots of noise from others during peak lunch hour.

The food wasnt very tasty and the portions in calamari and nachos were more carbs than meat.

Daytona s has undergone a much needed renovation and looks great. Unfortunately we specifically chose this restaurant because of their online menu (offering both meat and non-meat options). In reality, the vegetarian options have been scaled back. I had the cauliflower soup which was watery and aside from the taste of pepper, really didn t have a well rounded flavour. The other two members of the party had salads, which were strangely hot (kind of guessing they were left for a long time under a heat lamp). Service was ok. Hopefully they update their online menu to match what is being handed out at the door. Again though - good renovation.

We came here and sat on the patio. While the patio is nice and comfortable, the food was horrible. I would not recommend eating here. We ordered the Mexican skillet and the chicken and waffles Benedict. The skillet was way overcooked and had no flavour. The cheese was burnt on top and the eggs were over done. On top of that, they did not put any chorizo in the skillet. The toast was stale as well. The chick and waffles was nothing special. The home fries were basic deep fried and greasy. The service was good and the server was friendly. I would not recommend going to this restaurant based on our experience with the food.

Not everyone can be perfect - yet Daytonas os pretty close!!!

The food here is amazing with most of it being fairly large for the price and tasting amazing with only the size of the surf and turf being a bit small. During our time here the server brought out the wrong items 2 times with the second item being called the correct name but after I took a bite I realized it was the wrong item. After we where finished our food and got our check we saw that they had put the items that they got wrong on the check still but thankfully that was solved quickly. Overall the food was great but the service left something to be desired.

Maybe update your hours on social media so people dont waste their time driving there to find its closed!

Loved the sandwich, to many overcooked fries. The service was excellent. For a senior citizen, $22.00 for fries and sandwich is a bit steep.

The Brussel sprouts are always my favorite when I visit here. This time they were too burnt and falling apart from being to charred. I had the Asian salad with grilled chicken breast. I t was over spiced and too many onions. That took away from the overall Asian essence I think. I will still be back....

Zero for service. Since when does a restaurant especially like Daytona ask ppl to leave. Had less than an hour to eat breakfast and have a coffee and were asked to leave as they had a reservation. Another table that had already been sitting there having breakfast when we arrived was not asked to leave. NEVER will I go there again. I tried supporting local however the waitress was extremely rude and told us we needed to leave in a not so friendly manner. U ARE RUDE and u should definitely not be dealing with the public. How annoying. WHY? We were trying to enjoy breakfast just like everyone else. Just FYI you are not the only breakfast place in town. Your food has gone downhill and I am sure if u keep treating your faithful patrons like we experienced today u wont be in business for long. Very disappointing. When we were seated no one mentioned we had an hour to eat and GET OUT...

Good eats - great service

Got a tasty steak salad! The meat was juicy and fresh, with a delicious goat cheese crustini to pair. The Memphis chicken rub on wings is a must, a delicious blend of brown sugar and Cajun spice. Wonderful tasting food in a comfortable setting with more than comfortable prices. Cant wait to come back! Vegetarian options: Lots of options for vegetarians, and chef is happy to adjust as need be Dietary restrictions: Our friend dining with us was celiac and lactose intolerant but still enjoyed the beef dip sandwich! Lots of other options can be adjusted too Parking: Plenty of parking spaces available outside the restaurant Kid-friendliness: Tons of simple plates for picky palates Wheelchair accessibility: All one level, and accessible seating

Met friends for breakfast. Third time now and non of us had a good breakfast. My poached eggs were over cooked and with so much vinegar I couldn t eat them. All of us had luke warm greasy tasting potatoes and all of the toast was cold when it was buttered and every one had a slap of thick margarine sitting on it. The bacon was not Ho and still very greasy. This is the 3rd and last time we will be eating there. Very disappointed. Every time it was the same thing.

Go to thunder bay spot since the remodel/ownership change. For what it looks like, and where it is, it far exceeds expectations. Plus the menu is constantly rotating different dishes

Ordered delivery. Did not get what we ordered at all. The food has always been good but I was absolutely appalled by the individual who called from the restaurant and basically told us well. Nothing I can do, you ll just have to order again.

Service has been extremely poor the last 2 times we were there. The waitresses was disorganized, couldn t remember orders and messed up the bills to the point where we had to ask her to correct the bills multiple times. On top of that the food was mediocre and overpriced, won t be returning anytime soon. Sad, use to really enjoy this restaurant

If you knew what happens on the inside with staff and management you would never want to eat here . A dog gets treated better then how they treat staff . The kitchen is poorly maintained and dirty . If I was to describe this joint I would call it a glorified truck stop kitchen . Management shouldnt be management at this place with a labor board fine against them for breaking labor laws and health and safety standards being taken for a joke and took a inspection and government order to get them to follow them . what more can I say other then its a horrible establishment. Atmosphere is dark and dingy and worn out looking. The food is greeesy bland and not fresh . Food tastes frozen and prepared days ago and popped into the microwave and then reheated and served to you like a frozen dinner from the supermarket. These pictures where taken from a inside source of the appalling state of the uncleanliness of the kitchen.

Spectacular breakfast. We went on a complete whim and were able to get a seat and have a great outing. One of our favourite spots to eat as the menu is diverse and there is attention to detail on every dish. Chef Stone and crew do a great job on everything. Highly recommended.

I ve been severely hungover on many occasions at Daytona s and the food has actually saved me from the depths of darkness. The staff has always been extremely friendly and treated myself and the people I have dined with like gold. Would recommend this place to anyone. Can t wait to go back again. Parking: Good to go!

Cant beat the value for the scratch cooked food

Went for an early supper after a long day of work and it was exactly what I needed. Made from scratch comfort food at its best. Thank you to the entire Daytona s team for another delicious and relaxing meal.

The food and ambiance have always been a 5*. All the associates who work there are very down to earth and welcoming to the restaurant. I have been visiting this establishments for several years and have had some private catering the back room. Excellent space if you are looking to be more private and intimate. The food and service are truly a 5*. If you are looking for a great place to have a great meal with friends and family, I suggest visiting Daytona.

It was our first time there. My first impression of the ambiance was ok, but the food and service made up for it. I would definitely recommend it. We will come back in any case.

Drove 16 hours just to have breakfast at Daytona s. The best breakfast in all of Ontario, well worth the drive. The chicken and waffles are a must!

Honestly the food is great and decently priced and cant beat 4 dollar beers. Cannot wait to go back. The interior could use some updating but overall it adds to the charm.

We (big family including in-laws) just finished having our Mothers Day brunch buffet at this restaurant - Daytonas Kitchen. Servings were good and orderly, though it was a little too tight and crowded with guests... but food and overall ambience were excellent, price/pax was reasonable and staff were nice, courteous and helpful. They deserve all five stars, Im sure. Parking: Enough to accommodate a lot of cars. Kid-friendliness: Ample food choices for the kids.

Had their chicken and waffles Benedict and like always it was amazing, they do put a hot sauce on it so if you do not like heat Im sure they would leave it off for you. My daughter had fin pancakes with ham and she like it.

Service left something to be desired - not sure if the kitchen was backed up (restaurant was not full when we arrived but did fill up), took quite awhile for the server to get drinks, then took longer return for our orders. If you had an hour for lunch, wouldnt have been able to wait. Again - food was excellent!

Breakfast was Amazing! Delicious food! Arrived 8:30am. Was quiet at first but quickly became busy. The earlier you go the better. I had breakfast Poutini amd hubby had Lemon Blueberry Crepes. Huge portions! Neither one of us finished our meals

Love this restaurant. Their catering side, Fuse, catered my wedding yesterday. We had the classic dinner buffet with steak, chicken, and roasted vegetables. There were also two salad options, several vegetable platters, and a platter of dessert squares. Way more than enough to feed the 70-80 people we had at the reception. Every single person said the food was amazing, and I completely agree. It is 100% worth every single penny.

The hostess was snobby and our waitress was very unattetentive as we had to flag her down to get a drink and she never came to see how everything was or if we needed anything more. she was a blonde waitress with a rose tattoo on the side of her wrist the hostess was brunette with a tattoo as well incase management reads this..The resteraunt was full of flies but the food was really good...atmosphere was plain...

The food and selection was absolutely amazing. Top notch ingredients and beautiful presentation. They have beer on tap from both sides of Lake Superior. I would visit this place over a chain restaurant any day of the week.

Daytona s is such a wonderful restaurant for breakfast lunch and dinner. They have a wonderful atmosphere and a true Thunder Bay shine. I was recently there and had Jennifer as my waitress. She was absolutely wonderful, very kind and always made sure we had whatever we needed. Daytonas is a very busy restaurant and they do a great job managing so many customers at once. Highly recommend!

Ordered fish & chips for takeout. Order was ready on time. The fish came in large pieces, but the little tub of cole slaw had an obvious odour of decay.

The location is super random and unexpected, even the inside doesnt really do the place justice but... AMAZING FOOD!! DEFINITELY 5 Star worthy.

Disappointed that the waitress felt she could justify the higher price on the bill over the posted *special price * on the chalkboard by making all sorts of feeble and ridiculous excuses.... its so much easier to accept a small mistake than creating a whole different issue by speaking nonsense! Food was OK, my only complaint is the salad dressing had way too much vinegar but the wings, chicken breast and Greek salad were pretty good.

Ordered the kimchi buttermilk fried chicken and was not disappointed! Service was prompt and friendly, definitely a place to check out if you havent been there before! Well be coming back for sure.

Food is just so delicious. It was nice to see this local restaurant jam packed with business on a Friday night.

Horrible experience Daytona. The atmosphere dreary. Seated at the bar. 10 minutes for water no menu. Had to ask for a menu, server was rarely attentive. Ended up not eating here as soon as a couple that was seated after us was given a table. I felt discriminated against due to my skin color.

Great place for the food, not so much for the atmosphere. So if all you care about is the food, then this place will hit the spot. The buttermilk fried chicken strips are seasoned well and juicy. It is a must with the honey dill sauce. All the pizzas here are freshly made and delicious. Cauliflower bites are a great choice as well. There really isnt a bad item on the menu here.

The foods okay. But I shouldnt be waiting 45 minutes for a $17 burger + fries. Tough sell, to be honest.

Daytonas-Being seated is relatively fast. Wait time for food is way, way to long, for mediocre food. It was like this on our first visit, thought wed try again, extremely long WAIT TIMES. Better options- There is much better food out there and we have waited 35 + to get in. The food is so worth it. Once inside the food is out of the kitchen so fast. I dont think I can drop names of better places. Daytonas needs to get more kitchen help, and get organized.

This is a great restaurant. The service is always prompt and consistent. The menu is amazing and makes it very hard to choose what to eat (in a good way because I want it all). The only downside is that it does have a slightly bland ambiance. The only thing I would tell customers to be weary about is ordering the pot stickers. You only get 6 and its 12 dollars. Kind of not worth the price for the portion. However I will always come back for the other items on the menu and friendly service!

Normally a great spot for lunch. Not sure what happened today we waited 45+mins for a clubhouse, fish tacos and chicken taquitos. The fish tacos were cold and soggy like they had been sitting for a while and one of our 3 guests ordered a side of sweet potato fries separate from their lunch plate. The side of sweet potato fries was $10! Crazy. Hopefully just a one off but wow $10 for sweet potato fries!

Place is not bad prices have risen, could use more fish in the fish tacos. Ruben was great. Fries they use are shoe string and suspect mcCain need to use real potatoes. Food was still pretty good, could lose seasoning on fries also tasted like hickory sticks.

It was really nice to sit down after a week out driving truck in a comfortable atmosphere. The waitress was prompt in seating me and starting my breakfast beverage order. A nice satisfactory time was taken prior to taking my order. Food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Food was good, tasted good. Server came by 2 or 3 times to check in. I really enjoy this establishment. Was only 2nd visit to this place. I will be returning again on my next visit!

It was my second visit here. This restaurant seems popular! Good food and good portions. Recommended! The Novemburger is impressive! My favorite so far.

We rented Fuse for our wedding reception and the meal was excellent in taste however the last tables was not hot, barely warm, not enough plates for anyone to have seconds, they were told to bring their dirty plate. They did not have enough dessert plates people had to bring their serviette, which we had to ask for once dinner was started because none were on the table. The bar refused to mix drinks although full bar service was requested. They complained about the DJ yet he had visited the room and was shown were he would be able to set up, and although we were promised the room until midnight the staff were trying to get us out at 10, and ended up staying till 11, unacceptable for sure. We requested tables and chairs as well as table cloths to set up for 50, almost all the table cloths were stained and we had to stem them ourselves they were so wrinkled And we had to wait until 2:00 the day of the wedding before we could finish decorating because there was not enough tables until after their lunch service- so why not have enough tables for what you are advertising? We had friends see the owner and manager with our complaints and disappointment and 2 weeks later have heard nothing Not very professional considering we also dropped about $3300. just ourselves Not very impressive

Despite the Skip driver taking an alternate route (second delivery) and the food being slightly warmer than Boulevard Lake in June, the food was still beyond amazing. Huge portions, great prices, and delish food. Hats off Daytonas!!!

The best restaurant in Thunder Bay, hands down. In my two years here, nothing else has even come close. Very reasonable prices for the quality of food you get. Overall just a great place, I can t recommend it enough. I m very glad you ve joined Skip The Dishes, I ve been missing the food dearly since this whole pandemic started.

We did a road trip to Thunder Bay and randomly choose this place for lunch! I cannot believe how amazing the food was! Compliments to the chef! Do not miss this place if you are visiting Thunder Bay.

The patio set up is great. Felt very comfortable on a sunny morning. Food was good and the staff are very attentive.

Lunch was not as quick as expected but the place was very busy. The food we got was very good though! Super friendly and attentive servers.

Called ahead to ask if the patio and kitchen would be open and they said yes until 10pm. Got there at 8:55pm only to be told that the patio is closed. When I insisted and told them about my phone call they let us sit outside but then said they can only serve us deep fried snacks and nothing else on the menu. Everything was so greasy. Bad experience

The hidden gem of Thunder Bay, dont be fooled by the appearance/location of the building or the dining room, the food is extremely good at a very reasonable price. Nationally recognized chef in the kitchen and it shows. All the classics are on the menu, but with a special twist that makes them extraordinary dishes...

Amazing place, the prices are unreal, and they have a really good cause. Maybe its just me but I find that some staff tend to be... Reserved? Either way, haha down this is the best choice shop around for the price and for what they do for the community.
