Went for the first time and loved it. Another great dinning experience! Great wine and excellent pasta. Definitely great for pasta and wine lovers alike!

Their veal chop killed it! The most tenderness chop I have ever had.

We reserved a table on a whim and were rewarded with an absolutely wonderful experience. We were warmly welcomed and the attentive service continued throughout the meal. The set menu offering for the evening, which included delectable options, was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed a caprese salad followed by a pasta dish featuring rapini, pine nuts, olive oil and cheese. Desert was a choice between crème caramel and cannoli. We ordered one of each. Everything was top notch. This restaurant is a must when visiting Thunder Bay.

8 of us went for dinner on a Wednesday night and it was absolutely the best food and experience we all had.The added touch of the magician is worth going back for which we all said we would definitely do.Thank you to our server Nick and all the staff.

Ive been to a few great italian places and the lasagna here wasnt anything special. compared to the ones in Toronto or Florida ive been too this one sucks. La casa nostra had a better lasagna then grotto

While visiting from a world class city on the west coast of Canada, the family dined at Grotto Trattoria. Our entire meal was better than anything I have access to at home and I have a lot to choose from. I ve had the opportunity to travel the world and enjoyed a lot of cuisines but Chris Barnes has a talent that should be experienced. My wife and myself went to Grotto Trattoria for her birthday the service was wonder and the food was excellent.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. Made a reservation for Saturday, 7PM for 5 persons. Show up for my reservation, on time by the way, and am told We re closed to the public for a private function today, you can try another restaurant. If you want professionalism and respectful customer service, take them for their word and go try another restaurant.

Amazing food, entertainment and service.

The food is incredible, we all shared what we ordered as there was to many delicious options to pick from.

This place is very tasty. The drinks here are on point. The prices is expensive but it has a cute atmosphere. Would definitely come back.

Nice little upscale Italian themed restaurant in the north end of the city. Food is well made and tasty. Service is friendly and staff are attentive. Cozy and quiet. Nice for date night. However, they also do have a private room for small gatherings. Only negatives are that the wine list and menu are a bit small. However, there should be something for everyone. Weve been there several times. Of note, is Wednesdays when a number of their wines are half priced. Of note is the Shrimp Arrabiata pasta and Aglio E Olio Cresti DI Galle pasta, although everything weve had has been good. Recommended

Wow!!! So happy Bev recommended this place! Chef Barnes knocks it out of the park..again! We rolled out of there after the most amazing 4 course meal. Tuna tartar (will be what this restaurant will be known for), kale salad, lobster ravioli/beef shirt rib(omg) followed by blood orange creme brulee and chocolate cake. Sydney was an amazing server who paid attention to detail including wiping table and replacing cutlery between every course. Not rushed and drinks never empty. We will be back...tomorrow!

I was in town for 1 night staying at a hotel with two young children and needed walking distance take out. I called to order take out from Seler, I heard a conversation in the background with 2 female employees that they only do take out for Bev. They came back to the phone and told me they don t do take out. I called several other local restaurants within walking distance, they were either closed for a private event or had very long waits. I called back and spoke to a male employee, I told him about my experience and he said they could do take out for some dishes, I ordered. When picking up, the two female employees did not comment and did not apologize. The customer service was awful from the two female employees that seemed to be greeting and running the front of house. However, the food was excellent. Hopefully they find better front of house staff so their service matches the wonderful food.

The service was fantastic. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant and up until we left the staff was friendly, kind and wonderful. The food was nothing less then absolutely delicious. The scallops were cooked to perfection and I cant get over how yummy the oyster mushrooms were on the lobster ravioli. Highly recommend going to try them out, you wont be disappointed!

The food was so bland.. also I ordered the au gratin shrimp and lobster app and there was zero lobster.. provide what you advertise and add some salt and maybe I might return.

My wife and I cannot say enough for this amazing gem of a place. The environment and service provided to get the best experience while dining was impeccable. For anyone looking for well thought out dishes and beverages please stop in here. Also, very friendly and helpful staff :)

A little expensive, but everything was amazing so worth the price. Our server (Meg I believe) was great! My girlfriend is really picky with drinks and they didnt have any on the menu that she would like, so we asked the bartender to make her something light and fruity. The drink he made should seriously be considered to be added to the menu permanently. It was very good! We will definitely be back!

The food is amazing but its the customer service that will have you going back!!! The waitress I had this evening was training another and both were sooo fantastic!!! Was such a pleasant evening and I will be raving about Seler to all!!!!

My mother and I had heard good things about this restaurant, so were eager to visit. Unfortunately, we were served plate after plate of disappointment. We each ordered a different appetizer, main, and dessert, and since we shared I had the opportunity to try 6 dishes. Nearly every dish missed the mark especially given the very steep prices. The one dish which was good enough was my scallop appetizer, which I credit to it being coated in peppercorns. We found everything else to be rather bland. Namely, the tuna tartare, salmon, and beef short ribs. The tuna tartare was too heavy on avocado which drowned out any flavor. The sauce used to garnish the plate was good but there wasnt enough of it to help. The beef short ribs were well cooked - a beautifully tender piece of meat. But again rather bland, even with the gravy. The salmon was served with a quinoa which proved to be the highlight (lowlight?) of the evenings disappointments, tasting like something youd buy bagged at the grocery store. Even the desserts were disappointing, with the creme brulee having the consistency of soggy undercooked pudding (although otherwise tasting fine), and the cheesecake being far too salty and lacking on... Well, flavor. The saving grace for the evening was fantastic service by Leah who did her best to make amends for our specific complaints. Unfortunately the food fell short of expectations - frankly, I have had better meals on airplanes. Fantastic service and atmosphere, would be a lovely little place if only the quality of food could improve.

Sooo good. Lobster risotto, shrimp the size of lobster tails, scallops like butter, arancini to mix things up. First visit. Will surely be back. Servers great, comfortable atmosphere.

Have been there twice and will be visiting again later this month! There has not been an appetizer or entree that I have one thing negative to say about, and both times the service was stellar!

Went for a business dinner to host some partners. The only reason Im giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because of my trouble locating actual restaurant. I circled the full block almost twice. To be fair our reservation was at opening. Otherwise, the decor, the staff and the ambience was all 5 stars. The food I would give a 6 if I could. The chef is from the east coast and the menu has some mouthwatering seafood descriptions but I opted for the Sous Vide Tenderloin... Maaaaan was I not disappointed. My whole table actually ordered it. The only thing better than tenderloin was the arancini I ordered as an app. Great portion size for all dishes. My co-workers Caesar salad was allegedly the best shes ever had. Would definitely go back to get that 5 star since I know where it is now LOL

Whoa! Did not disappoint. Ive been meaning to try Seler based on the plating I saw via social m. Tonight was the night. I had the tenderloin, co-workers (Maddy & Katrina) had the sea food risotto. Everything was right on point; service...Julia...brilliant, drinks...on point, apps...perfect, mains...heavenly, dinner wine...well recommended, dessert to go...probably going to be great. If you eat, you should consider eating here. Robby

Amazing food, wonderful service, great prices. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem of Thunder Bays Port Arthur Downtown. Definitely recommend for a date night, friend outing, or just a family dinner. Service was great, server had a great sense of humor and extensive knowledge of the menu and taste of all. We had a great selection of wines and food and couldnt give a rating less then 9 out of 10. Definite must add to your Thunder Bay must do list. A+++

Wow great food and fantastic cocktail selection. Refreshing to go to a restaurant in tbay where the service isn t subpar. Had the pork belly and the filet and my partner had the lobster risotto it was great.

Beautiful event centre with large or more intimate options for dining. Food is out of this world with an amazing menu of options and different flavours. Highly recommend
