Got takeout they didnt give cutlery. When asked for it was given. Then, I had to ask for napkins .

We ordered enough food for 8 people and had leftovers. Everything was good except the Spring Rolls. They were so soggy and saturated with oil that we couldnt eat them. It really was like chewing leather when I was trying to bite into the end of one. Chicken fried rice was very dry, but I was impressed with the amount of actual chicken in it. Wonton soup, s&s chicken balls, bon bon ribs, vegetables chow mein Shanghai noodles, deep fried wontons, mushroom egg foo young - I think that was about it... We spent around $280, but it was my birthday!! I havent been to this restaurant in a couple of decades because I live on the other side of the city, but I highly recommend almost everything we got. Vegetarian options: One of my grandchildren is a vegetarian, so its really great to have good options.

While eating indoors on a Sunday evening, I found the food only fair; however, the service was slow and rude. Worse still, as I sat at my table for a full 1/2 hour after a family with young children had left, I had to look at uneaten food lying on the floor under their table before it was finally swept up. The kitchen floor was very dirty with cast-aside food lying on it. Overall, this restaurant deserves a fair rating for takeout and for in-house a poor rating.

I got chicken balls with mixed beef greens and chicken fried rice. Chicken balls were very good. The greens were good. The rice wasnt the besy rice ever, a bit dry but still good. Lots of food for the price. I liked the bubble tea too.

Hands down, this is the best Asian restaurant in Thunder bay! Fresh meat, hot broth, veggies and condiments. Super friendly staff and great atmosphere. Best bubble tea too. Boba was perfect and the sweetness is not overly sweet, just right! Cant wait to try out other dishes....

Ordered a single meal but was then told I actually ordered dinner for four which was NOT the case. Was told I said I ordered dinner for four when I absolutely did not. I ordered dinner NUMBER four. Probably time to learn to read the order back to the customer in order to avoid this problem in the future and also not accuse the customer. Have had bad experiences before with this place but this was the last straw. Won t be going back.

First time I come and I Find a Karen as receiver...

Me and my wife went there to dine in but we were asked to show identification proofs and vaccination proofs for both of us. Since the restaurant was just a block next to the place we live my wife didn t had an ID card on her. Then they asked for healthcare. Not the digital one but the printed one. We just moved here from Alberta and this is the first restaurant asked for ID card for dining in. And a printed healthcare card for dining in.? We had to leave. But is this a new rule in here in Ontario? We are so disappointed with the way they treated us. We loved the food we had from pho-one from Alberta and we were excited to have the same kind of food here in thunderbay. But we are not going to visit this restaurant again. One star is because its mandatory for me to post this review

I went for bon bons, and theres are pretty good! Fairly generous portions, with a decent amount of meat. Personally I prefer just a dusting of rice flour rather that a batter coating, but good all the same. Obligatory lemon wedges included. I look forward to trying the rest of the menu, as the phò list is encouraging... Fingers crossed!

Our RV ended up breaking down right beside them and we pulled into their parking lot. They were gracious enough to let us stay the night until the repair people came in the morning. They were only concerned that we were safe! The silver lining was that we ordered dinner with them and it was delicious! That almond gravy though...yummmmy! Kind people, delicious food!

Meh. Food was just meh. This place used to have such a reputation, and now im wondering what that was for. We ordered the consomme soup, shrimp chop suey, spring rolls, and won tons. Everything was flavourless. Nothing exciting, or really appetizing about this food. Eddy lee s or village market is so much better. Village market is the best. So disappointedz

Probably the worst chinese food I have ever had. You call that chicken fried rice??? More like ricearoni. Where was the chicken pieces? The fried egg? Some veggies chopped up and mixed within? The S&S Spareribs were so fatty. Small pieces of bone and fat. The chicken balls were good. But that rice.....wow!!! And my food came out extremely hot, like the whole plate was microwaved for 2 minutes. Service was kind and friendly. #12 not so much

My husband loves Asian food, and this place according to him is the best place in Thunder Bay for it! Their food is good with reasonable prices. And their service is quick, if you choose to dine in try to go at an off time when it might not be busy their dining room is small.

Really very good food. The warm welcome from the waitress on Tuesday evening is really welcoming and she gives excellent, fast service. This is a place where you eat very hot and I will come back from Montreal any time to come back and eat at this place.

We ate in and arrived just at 5 oclock. They cleaned off a table and we were seated within a few minutes. Our service was prompt, drinks were brought right out and refilled a couple times duringthe meal. We ordered sweet & sour wontons. Very delicious, very meaty. Then we had ordered combo plates. My husbands plate had 5 large sweet and sour shrimp, 5 large meaty chicken balls, and the rest was full of chicken fried rice. I think the price was $13.50. I had chosen a daily special for $9.50 which came on a smaller plate fried rice, chicken balls and an egg roll. Even when our friend combo plate was put down they immediately said you are missing a shrimp will bring it as soon as it is done. Service was great. People were coming into the restaurant just as we were packing our left overs up and they told them 20 mins wait and I spoke up and said we are leaving. So the people waited a few mins instead of 20 for us to leave. There is no place to sit and wait at all. Food was delicious.

What does one say about this place other than DELICIOUS! I lived in Thunder Bay for years and frequented a different place. Moved away but the first chance I had I went to my favorite Chinese restaurant only to find out that it was different owners and the food was horrible. Now the hunt began again for another favorite place with spectacular food and service, well looked for a few years and settled on a so-so place. My love for oriental food drove me to continue looking with not much success. Then one day a good friend mentioned the ORIENTAL GARDENS. Needless to say I am so impressed with the food and service here that whenever we are in Thunder Bay we can not pass up a chance for a great meal and a friendly face. They are extremely accommodating to your taste buds as to whether you like your food regular, medium or spicy. Cooked fresh for your specific taste and your food is served up quickly by friendly staff. We live out of town and like I said dont pass up a chance to eat here and it didnt take this place more than 2 visits to remember us by name and what we liked. If I have one complaint about the Oriental Gardens it would be that it is small and the atmosphere lacks but truly who cares about that when the food says it all. They also offer take out and even here they dont lack. No styrofoam containers but solid plastic ones that are reusable. Prices are a little higher than most but I personally think that once you try the place you can overlook anything you may find to be negative. I give this place a 5 star rating. Try it, you wont be DISAPPOINTED.

Was a happy customer until I ordered my usual order of Daily wonton meal . When I got my order I noted the burnt taste to the chicken fried rice and mentioned it to my server. I was told they had just made the new batch of chicken fried rice and that if I liked I could have a different portion of the same burnt rice ! I couldn t believe it . I noted it s still the same burnt batch and was given plain rice at the same price of chicken fried . Terrible treatment of a loyal customer . I won t return .
