The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Thunder Bay in Thunder Bay

Nice place, good service but the food not so much. Tried the crispy cauliflower was pretty good, the keg burger had a very bad meat to topping ratio and the blackened chicken was mid too.

If you want a great prime rib then this is the place to go!!! They are very consistent and the quality is always fantastic. Ive never been disappointed going there! Food : 5/5

After a very difficult several days, we went for a quiet dinner to take a break from the reality of what our family is going through. Our server was Carter and was BEYOND kind! Such kindness is rare and so appreciated. Our meal was superb! We were gifted a complimentary dessert, and it was nice to be on the receiving side of kindnesses. Thank you to the staff. A very nice place to go and eat, the food was amazing. The service was great, even giving out complimentary bread while you waited for your food. The restaurant itself is so nice. I love the options for vegans, as that is important to me when I have to go to a restaurant. It also has other items for those who have a gluten free diet or vegetarian. Vegetarian options: The menu has a little legend at the bottom to show you what menu items are vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free! Glad they make it easier. Dietary restrictions: Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options.

Consistent service and quality. A lot of people seem to be mentioning high prices but I dont consider it expensive. The prices are about the same as other restaurants of the same style. Would be 5 stars if you guys had the 3 cheese butter - this is the only Keg Ive ever been to that doesnt have it!

The food is good, with nice dish presentation, but the steak was a bit salty and the portions are on the smaller side. Plus, it s a bit pricey for what you get.

Went for dinner here Friday and Sunday Aug 16 and 18. Both times the Keg did not disappoint. Escargot, Sirloin steak, pistachio crusted salmon, vegetables, bread, wine - it was delicious! And the service from Charlotte and Allie was super.

The server Ellie was exceptionally knowledgeable. Very kind and friendly. The steak was dry. Slightly overcooked. I asked for med well and it was more well done. The lobster was ok. Nothing to write home about. The restaurant was very comfortable and the atmosphere was cozy. A very nice place to dine out.

Ive been at The Keg TB on July 6th 2024. Ive got very good attention from the staff! very nice ! But the New york strip was not very good.. very low quality... I did not enjoy at all ! sorry for that bad review ... the staff were amazing!

Class act restaurant. The Keg has a policy that if you have food allergies that the server informs the kitchen and manager. The manager then comes to the table to reassure the diner that they will have a handle on the order. My wife is a Celiac, and with this kind of service, she has the confidence to eat without the worry of getting sick. Thank you Thunder Bay Keg. This restaurant should be the Kegs bench mark for how to do it right.

Came here for dinner with a few others. I had the Omega, it came out just like I wanted. It did take quite some time for us to get the food despite the place being half full. This place is in line with any other Keg.

We had 2 business at the Keg and both events went exceptionally well in large part to the accommodation and service from The Keg. From management to the servers, everyone was attentive, helpful and as always the food was spot on. We hope to do it again.

The Keg Mansion is My Favorite restaurant ever!! Staff are incredibly amazing. Had 25 people for my birthday and because it was on a Friday night they would not take a reservation. We still showed up and they were super accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure we were looked after and the manager even thanked me for choosing the Mansion to celebrate my birthday at!! Food was spectacular and all 25 of us were incredibly pleased. Not from the area but I will definitely go back!

Had not been here in a long time and I was pleasantly surprised. Our food was delicious and the price was better than expected.

Although our waiter was spread a little thin due to staff shortages he made sure our needs were met and then some. The food all came out as it should and was fantastic. Steak was cooked to perfection and the lobster succulent. Will return next trip to Thunder Bay. Found ourselves here again this week. Our server Joey was above fantastic and made sure we were well looked after. The food was above great and enjoyed the entire experience.

Good food...served fresh and hot. Exceptional service. Area was full and customers were too loud, however, but ambience was still above par and acceptable. Had to park a little farther away near the road due to most cars occupying almost half of another lane. Perhaps understandable due to piled up sides, snowballs and snow-covered border lines. Fantastic food and great service. The prime rib portions were enormous and cooked perfectly. The onion rings and shrimp were delicious appetizers and the bread was heavenly.

A friend and I made last minute reservations for dinner on Sunday (15th) at the Keg. Upon our arrival, we were greeted in a warm, friendly, courteous manner, and were seated immediately. Greeters set a tone, and we certainly felt welcomed & well attended too. The Manager, Kyle K, also was present at our arrival, and too was both thoughtfully attentive & welcoming! Our Server, Nadia, presented herself at our table almost immediately, and she was friendly, very helpful with the menu selections, attended well, and was very efficient. She also gave us the time we needed to make our menu choices without any pressure to time. The meal arrived in a very timely manner, and was super delicious!!!! Not sure who the cooks were on Sunday night, but that was absolutely the very BEST Prime Rib dinner either of us has ever been served. Overall a GREAT Experience!!! Thank You for always reaching to be better!!! Much appreciated!

Although the restaurant was busy, we didnt feel cramped. Setting was intimate and stylish. Waitress was brand new yet seemed to take the job seriously. She did mess up, however, right away she took ownership of her error and apologized immediately. Cheesecake wasnt bad yet I would have preferred cherry....unfortunately raspberry was my only choice besides chocolate. Bill Miner was a hit.

Excellent management at this restaurant!! And probably one of the best servers I have ever met named Maria, she is an outstanding server!!!! The food is always amazing!! The bake brie is my fav app and I had the chocolate cake for dessert, for the first time and Maria poured hot chocolate sauce all over it!! ITS SO GOOD!! We ate thete twice in 3 days. The second night was on a Sat so a little bit more busy but the management is so good they are so organized, I wanted my steak cooked longer, my choice and they were so great and fast!! One more thing... the beets mmmmmm I love them so much, you will get them as garnish but they definitely made my dinner so good!!!! We will return ...

First time to The Keg in Thunder Bay, a more personal and inviting atmosphere than other Keg experiences in Southern Ontario

I hope the franchise owner sees this. Food was great, however we were crammed in like sardines. Dinner for 2 was $350 which is fine but I don t want to be crammed in, my elbow could hit the table beside us. Visited on the 13th. Lobster tail was bigger then in the past and delicious

It was my first time trying food from the Keg tonight, and unfortunately I was really disappointed. We ordered a medium rare steak, and it was well done . The blackened chicken was well over cooked; so hard and chewy. The beans were a mix between over cooked pieces and some, just not cooked at all; crunchy and cold. Shrimp and scallops were also cold and undercooked. The only saving dish was the calamari. The spicy sauce with cilantro was really great. I probably wont be eating here again. Not by my choice anyway. Super dissappointed. It is not at all what its been hyped up to be, especially for fine dining.

The Keg in Thunder Bay maintained its same consistency with its chain in Toronto as well and that was good for me and my husband as well as our friends. We enjoyed every bit of the evening as well as the food and the service. Every food was prepared deliciously and we just KNEW that we would definitely make this a fave spot for us to hang out to eat. The ambience is fantastic for relaxing as well and having great conversation. Keep up the good work Keg!

The first time I have ever been to The Keg was just a few days ago, and it was an amazing experience. The food, the service, and the drinks were in par with the quality of the atmosphere.

Went with a party of 7, service was amazing, wait times were ok but felt a little on the long side (dessert came out very quickly though). Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience

I expected it to be just okay as its a chain restaurant, however, the level off service and the delicious food resulted in my expectations being exceeded.

Service was excellent and attentive, unfortunately they came back to tell me they were out of what I ordered. What I ended up with was quite tasty however it was not what I wanted to eat so I was very disappointed.

I had posted a review about the Keg Mansion in Toronto several years ago and somehow it changed its name and location changed to Keg Thunder Bay. Existing reviews for a completely separate establishment should not have transferred to a new location. Absolutely unacceptable and inexcusable, as it s blatant false representation. While Keg Restaurants are typically the hallmark of consistency, the owner s business practices of transferring reviews is unethical. I almost second guessed this, however I read several other reviews referring to The Keg Mansion which is in Toronto.

It was so good, OMG!!! With a good Merlot from Ontario too!!! Go for it without hesitation!

We came to celebrate my son s graduation (HS) and was his birthday. We love steak, so we re eager to try this place. We found it easily with ample parking. We tend to eat later- 7pm, so not too crowded. We had a reservation as we were unsure how busy it would be. We re seated immediately and provided drinks and placed our appetizer order. The stuffed mushrooms Neptune -didn t disappoint! My son for the New York strip medium well. It s usually exactly how he likes steak. However this New York strip is cut in half horizontally. So it s very thin, unlike a regular thick piece of New York strip meat. So cooking it to medium without much pink - it s like rubber. I can t recommend this cut. The photo showed how thin they slice it. It s like half the thickness of a regular piece of meat. My son got the plate and was like so, someone took the top layer . Very disappointed young man. My sirloin was medium and a normal 8oz you would expect. My only complaint was the amount of pepper. It s VERY heavy. I didn t order the peppercorn steak. It would have killed me. I cut the top layer off my steak to be able to eat it. My side selection was the baked potato, with just butter. It was as expected, just very small. For the price, I expected better. We were too full for dessert, so got it to go. The chocolate cake and Billy Miner pie. Both were taste lasted that evening. It was hard to select deserts as they were all great choices. Overall some hits and misses. Very disappointed in the New York strip. Maybe the prime rib is a better option to try next time. Vegetarian options: They do offer both vegetarian and gluten free options if your diet needs such.

Excellent experience at the keg. Perfectly cooked prime rib. Nice cap and deep beef flavor. Unfortunately there was a hair in the onion fries, the manager was quick to deal with the situation.

Overpriced for the food quality and failure to address our air conditioning complaint where we had to go to the car for sweaters and jackets. One of our group of 8 in a wheelchair left early because of hypothermia. We have crossed off The Keg, in Thunder Bay as what used to be our favorite place to dine since the 80s.

We enjoyed our special dinner at The Keg Steakhouse. Everything was 10/10, excellent. The food, time, atmosphere, hygiene, and service were fantastic. I had one of the most delicious steaks here.

Steak was cooked to perfection, ½ lobster just delicious as was the twice baked potato. Service (Maria) was just delightful, efficient and attentive. Super comfortable atmosphere. Just a wonderful dinner experience!

Incredible food. Drinks were perfect. Great atmosphere. The bread was good. Started with the shrimp cocktail. I had the steak and lobster. My girlfriend had the lobster and shrimp Oscar. Brought the caramel cheesecake home with us. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the flavor was wonderful. Cant say enough good things about it.

I havent been to The Keg (Thunder Bay) for a couple of years due to the quality of the food until last night, AND WOW ! ! ! What a change in the food and service. The food was cooked properly (which was one of the problems with the Keg in the past), had GREAT flavour (2nd past problem) and came promptly. Our order had one minor mix-up, BUT our server and the manager fixed it ASAP! The speed and manner in which both handled the mix-up was AWESOME. Additionally, our server (Abby) was simply AMAZING! Great experience at this keg, food was great, 4 stars as I have found the portions get smaller as the price inflates (not specific to restaurant, it s a chain thing). We had steak, chicken, lobster and a hamburger. Food was served hot, server was great. Always finish with a Billy Minor pie

We were returning home following a trip to Toronto for a funeral. We had wanted to go to Thunder Bay Keg in june for our 43rd Anniversary dinner, but my dental surgery took precedence, so promised ourselves that we would celebrate on our return from Toronto. We did not have a reservation, and they were very busy, but we decided to wait half an hour for a table and were glad we did. Arianna was our server, and we think The Keg got a real gem when they hired her. She was personality personified, courteous, and professional. Over the two hours, we got to know a little about her, and she took time to get to know us. The food was great, as usual, but for us, the difference at the Keg in Thunder Bay is the staff. On our previous visits, we had been served by Tyler and Lucas. Both were equally attentive and personable. Arianna, Tyler, and Lucas, as you embark on your lifes journeys please know that we are one senior couple that will remember you fondly in prayer. We hope to see you again soon at The Keg. We havent been to the keg in years. Although the prices have gone up substantially, our food was delicious and our service, fantastic. Thanks to Johnny for making our evening wonderful. Vegetarian options: The new menu features a vegan meatloaf and a Mediterranean Cauliflower.

I felt sooo bad when I sent my steak back (overdone) and they were so nice about it I felt even worse lol. They brought me a whole new meal and took it off our bill. Once it was cooked more rare the steak was fantastic! And the sides were so good too. Staff was so nice and really nice place to sit (no rlly loud music) will definitely come back

Amazing Experience at this location! Breanne was fantastic as I sat at the bar. She was able to pull through with my request to change the TV from Hockey to Baseball. Always checking in but wasn t overbearing. The food was cooked to perfection. My order was: Onion Soup, 10oz Prime Rib (med-rare) with rice and mushroom, and a glass of Merlot. Definitely coming back when I m in Thunder Bay!

Menu is prob the worst in town just go to the caribou if your in the parking lot. Better service, menu drink selection and atmosphere for the same price if not cheaper. Have to go tonight and absolutely dreading it

Quick to be seated with reservations on a Friday night. Wonderful waitress Hailey. Very attentive. Unfortunately the food was sub SUB par. The mushroom appt w the Brie was fantastic . The bread was very good. The special was the lamb shank. Not tasty at all. I had The 6 oz sirloin, which unfortunately was ordered medium but came super rare. Despite it being rare it had a huge fat cap on it and I literally could not saw through it with my steak knife. I tried All different angles. Took one bite and it was inedible. The waitress messed up my kids orders but luckily they had extra Oscar sirloins already in the back. My sirloin came out after everyone was done- so we bagged it to go. The garlic mashed potatoes were not whipped well not garlicky. The manager comped our lamb and sirloin. As literally, I had 2 bites. Waitress was perfect. But the food was absolutely horrible. Our last Keg visit was in Barrie and it was one of the best meals I d ever had. This was so disappointing to fly all the way here for my sons birthday and it was almost completely inedible. Will absolutely not go again. And? I rarely Ever complain. Ever.

Had a good time getting my New York strip loin steak with my friend. They had a new server working named Owen. It was only his third shift but he was doing great job. I want to make sure to give props where due. I have never had bad meal here and I look forward to my next visit.

We made last minute reservations by phone, got a great booth and wonderful server, I forget her name, my Fiancé had one beer and I enjoyed several cocktails and a class of wine, while enjoying fresh baked bread and butter, and our appetizers that came quickly, Nachos which were delicious and an attempt at swapping out Parmigiano onion rings for Parm fries they were okay nothing spectacular we noticed it had been a while and then suddenly our waitress rushed over to say there was a problem inputting out entrées and that they were making them immediately and removing them from our bill, we thanked her for removing them from the bill and said we only just noticed the time due to so many people leaving. Well they were most certainly worth the wait, I enjoyed Steak and Lobster( with melted butter) with a twice baked potato and veggies my Fiancé a chicken dish with seasonal veggies and mashed potatoes. The Chef brought them out himself, apologized, again for our wait. Even though there was a minor hiccup everything else was still near perfect will go again soon!

Went there tonight for dinner. Were seated by host. We sat there for 15 minutes with no waiter/waitress in site to take our order. Then saw other newer tables served before ours. Not very good impression on my very first time in Canada. If I could give no stars I would.

Beware if you have allergies! I have celiac disease. I confirmed with my waitress that everything I ordered was gluten free (and it was marked GF on the menu). I was eating my dinner when I noticed a MACARONI NOODLE in my sautéed vegetables!!! A whole noodle fried in with them and I almost ate it by accident! And Im not sure what else it touched. Can you imagine? I just keep thinking what if someone had a nut allergy and there was just a peanut mixed in with their vegetables. They offered to bring me a new side of vegetables but didnt comp my meal or really take it seriously at all. Scary stuff! Dietary restrictions: They dont take their gluten free options very seriously.
