Fantastic, Authentic cuisine. It definitely takes a brave soul and an iron stomach to try some of the dishes on the menu in terms of what you’re ordering. Some of the dishes are quite spicy, and some flavors are very strong and in your face. Because of that, I highly recommend coming here for the authenticity, freshness of the food and the love that is put into every dish. Not to mention the friendliness of the wonderful staff. The interior is pretty bare and they don’t have the best air conditioning, so take away may be best, regardless, again, I highly recommend a visit!

It looks like a dining room - not a restaurant. But if you value the food more than the atmosphere you can try this place. I ordered the goat meat and vegetables. It was really good and I enjoyed it. It's a little spicy and you need to be ready for that. I would say a medium spicy. And the prices are a little high.

The service was good attitude wise— the lady that is in the restaurant today was great besides the fact that she gave me the keys to the bathroom, rang our order and proceeded to make our food without handwashing. The goat pepper soup was delicious hence the 2 star… but the rest of the food we ordered… it was okay but could be better. We got egusi and fufu, ofe akwu with rice and puff puff. I was mostly disappointed with the puff puff— it was hot because it was microwaved, chewy inside, soggy and oily. I wish it was freshly made. We were hoping to have good food as we’ve been driving from Alberta to Windsor Ontario. We paid $100 total and was very disappointed— and our stomach hurts. 😣 For the amount we paid, we were hoping for some good food. 😔

We were on day 3 of our trans-Canada trip and was craving Nigerian food. The restaurant was gracious enough to stay open 40 minutes after closing time just so we could arrive in Thunder Bay to pick up our order. The pouded yam and egusi was amazingly delicious. So much that the following morning, I called them 15 minutes before opening time to order some jollof rice for the road as we continued our journey. Good food, great service and fair price. PS: I rarely write reviews but when I experience good service, I have to blow their trumpets.

I spent over $76 for two meals and this is what was sent to me. I have always liked Jollof but if this is what I will get, I will never shop with this restaurant again. They are one of the most expensive restaurants in the city, yet you send me bones. I am so upset right now! Kmdt! Never Again! The caption above was my original post. However after reaching out to the restaurant to lodge my complaint they apologized and sent extra cuts (in second picture).

Loved my experience at Thunder Bay African Restaurant. Their service was great and the food was very delicious! The place was very neat and clean. When I went there, a lot of orders were coming in so she didn't want to serve the soft plantain cos some people have a preference for their plantain and she wanted me happy but I love soft plantain a lot so I told her to serve it that way. I love that she checked with me before she went ahead. Made me happy. My husband loved the food as well. We are now repeat customers! We ordered the Jollof rice, turkey and plantain. Loved it all!

Went for the first time tonight, and absolutely loved it! We started with meat pies, which had a flaky pastry crust and were really good. I had the goat pepper soup - the broth was rich and flavourful and packed a spicy punch. The goat meat was delicious! My partner had the goat asun, which was excellent. We will definitely be back!

Ordered online for delivery. What I got was delicious rice and chicken. They forgot my plantains. So, disappointed. I would order from them again, hoping they got my order right and not forget the plantains.

Only reason I rate it 3 stars is price for quantity. It cost me almost $40 for basically a bowl or rice, a piece of chicken (it had less then a chicken nugget worth of meat on it), and 6 pieces of plantain (which were not like the picture in the menu). The staff was nice, the atmosphere wasnt bad, just the amount of food wasnt worth the money. If you can get the cost down, then I would go back.

Ordered online takeout several weeks ago. Small restaurant with basic tables and chairs. Food was really very tasty (one of the dishes I got was the Ofada rice with Ayamase stew). As has been stated by others, prices are high compared to portions...likely due to the cost of getting the ingredients here. Also, there is no description of what the food items are so I spent a lot of time Googling to see what many of the items were, before I ordered. So, hope these things get ironed out. Welcome addition to Thunder Bay restaurant scene.
