Montana’s BBQ & Bar in Timmins

Edited review from previous one left: Ive gone and ordered take-out several times since my last review and it does seem like service and food is coming out nice and hot these days. Decent for what it is. Its Timmins, so you take what you can get. 3.5 stars would be more reasonable rating.

Tasty food, friendly service, busy atmosphere

Excellent service and food.

I ordered take out and once I received it. It was cold. The ribs were put in a bag instead of a container. First time using skip the dish. Not impressed.

Typical chain restaurant, nothing exciting. Just basic average food.

Food went to cold fast because they had there A/C on way to high. Ether eat outside or take a microwave with you. I enjoy my food for about 4 mins .

Fast friendly service. Got our appetizers quickly and our meal shortly there after. Meals were perfectly cooked. Went in today, and same great service every time. Our server Nancy was great as well

I was in Timmins for a 3 night stay. I had dinners on 2 nights. The servers were great, as was the food. I had a steak one night and ribs the other night. And desserts on each night. All were prepared and served as expected.

Waited 30+ minutes for a server to get to us and never got served so we walked out.

Absolutely amazing service !! The waitress Nancy was great, checked in, food was fast.. tasted delicious had the buttermilk chicken & the manager Jen came to check in.. she was so kind & welcoming! What a great experience! Can t wait to come back!

Absolutely love going to Montanas! The staff are very friendly, they always get the food spot on, the service is quick and easy, and very affordable. We love taking our kids here because they are gentle with them, they have the whole table to doodle while we wait, and the kids food options and portions are amazing. Montanas will always be our favourite place to dine in!

Food was good. Brought family here for a day party. Waitress was nice and helpful. Dietary restrictions: Had a few items for gluten free. Would always like to see more added.

The top of the table was clean, but inbetween the slats was dried up BBQ sauce, ketchup, salt and pepper.

We stopped into Montanas in Timmins on a road trip to Thunder Bay from Ottawa on the 15th of December 2023. I ordered a half rack of ribs and my sister ordered fajitas. Food came but it was cold and my half order of ribs was actually only 4 puny dried up and overcooked dry ribs. No juicy meal here. My sisters fajitas were cold and chewy tough. Our waitress was amazing and gave the kitchen our feedback. The owner of the franchise came out with 4 more dried up ribs ..very poor quality of food and we won t be eating nor recommending Montanas in Timmins. It seems that the portions are not in line with other Montanas that I ve dined at and no effort is made to improve. They don t know how to adhere to company policy about food presentation, quality and quantity. Do not eat here.

Okay, so. If I could give this a lower rating, I would. Lets begin. Flat skunky, spit out worthy - draught beer. (Budweiser, dont do it) Kiddo gets her food..no body at our table has long hair.....she bites into her chicken tender and pulls a long hair out of her mouth and says ew... wait for Laurie to come back and she laughs it off and says oh, well do you want another one? Thats probably mine when I put the plate down... like what?! Uh. Top it off with getting our $110 bill with not even a blink of an eye to offer even a slight discount or a free friggin dessert.... nope full price for everything... Chewbacca hair and all! Will NEVER return. I dont want a free gift card to come back. Ill gladly stay away.

My family and I love going to Montanas, weve been for many years and have had very few complaints if any. Our last experience was the worst Ive ever had. When we arrived, the hostess who sat us was amazing, she sat us promptly and made sure we had everything. Our server on the other hand was awful. The was 5 of us, my wife, myself, my wifes grandmother, my 6 year old and my 2 year old. Our server took our drink order and completely forgot or didnt care to ask for our 2 year olds drink order, after we got half of our drinks, we didnt see her again for the other half until about 10 minutes later. When she returned, my wife asked about a drink for my 2 year old and the server looked confused, rolled her eyes and went to get it. After that, we had to wait a bit to order (our fault) but when she did come to take our order she either forgot again or didnt care to ask for our 2 year olds order. We saw her maybe twice before our meal came and each time my wife tried to get her attention but she ignored us. After we got our meal, she showed up 5 minutes later to ask if we were okay, and then tried to basically run away before we could answer, my wife had to yell out to her to get her attention. My wife had said she thinks the server forgot our daughters order, the server replied with oh okay? So we ordered for her and we got it half way through our meal. We saw her maybe once more after that to ask for dessert, once we got that, we just asked for the bill right away so we could get out of there. My wife and I were extremely upset with the service we received and are honestly disappointed that our daughter was either forgotten about twice or the server simply didnt care to ask about her order. She may only be 2 but she at least deserves to eat and drink too. I hope the next time we go the service is better as every other time was great. Im thinking the server was simply having an off night as this location is usually great. Better luck next time I guess!

All you can eat ribs? Need a day more? Well cooked - falling off the bone and very tasty. The fajitas are amazing & filling, We had a great attentive waitress & the atmosphere was contagious . Always a tried & true place for good food at reasonable prices. Food : 4/5

Fried chicken with a white sauce was hot, fresh and simply amazing. Staff are always pleasant and service is excellent. Thank you Steve for the great service, and your upbeat attitude. Placed an order or ribs online. The order was ready when I got there which was great, but the ribs were over cooked and had very little flavor. This is the 1st time I am disappointed in Montana.

Food took an eternity. Chicken burger was over cooked, steak was rare instead of medium. Parking: Everyone in Timmins could visit, and there would still be empty spaces.

The worse place i was went through 50 minutes of waiting after the pickup timing shown. For pickup order please go as late as possible

Have eaten at this montanas a couple times while in town for work. In house the service was far from great and the food was mediocre. This last time I decided to use skip the dishes and eat at my motel instead. Ordered a sirloin medium cooked and I guess because I was not in house to complain before paying they picked the worst one. Over cooked and full of fat no even edible. My 6$ side of onion rings came with 4 rings. They took advantage of a take out order worth 60$ that wasn t worth the bag it came in. I love my steaks but will be the last time from this brutal montanas. Casey s has much better service in town and the food is always bang on and priced fair.

The server was pleasant and attentive. The food was really good. I prefer a quieter environment and this is on the noisy side. As a short person, the booth is not that comfortable--too high to get comfortable.

Wonderful food, service and staff.

Has improved since I last went there years ago when it was so horrible I stayed away for almost a decade. Much better now, but steak is still shy of where it should be considering it s supposed to be the place for steak. With the improvements I now go at least every month. Parking: Parking is at side of building, front door is a driveway only.

Pleasant greeting by owner and staff, seated within minutes (even with a full house). I ve never had an appetizer arrive so quickly. After ordering, our food arrived within 5 minutes. Very pleased with our meal, the service, and atmosphere that the Timmins Montanas offers! Can t argue with the prices either!

The server was very rude and she wants the customer to give her tips! Even though I gave her 5 dollars!! She says I don t get anything from 5 dollars!! Well the owner should teach her for not forcing for accepting tips !! Its customer choice to give tips, it s not necessary!!

Had a bit of an issue with my steak, but my server handled it wonderfully and made sure I was brought a new one. Love the food here.

Great atmosphere , food, and outstanding service. In particular, our server (I believe his name was Steve but I cant recall for sure) was easily one of the best Ive experienced in Timmins.

Been awhile, dont you hate when you crave something on the menu and it is no longer there. Cobb salad. Filet minion. Everything cooked well, good service, time delivered good. But left me wanting. Its just good. PS coleslaw is not creamy, not vinegar, meh. Food

I like montanas for other dishes such as Antonio s, pickle spears, wings, salads, spinach dip and more; but this one wasn t it. Lacks flavour, I believe there were zero seasonings used in this. It was room temperature. Potatoes tasted like they were cooked the day before and stored in the fridge. My sister and I both ordered because it looks delicious. Did not finish it. I ll go back never this again.

I love lunch at Montanas ! The service is so spectacular that it s become a weekly routine to come in and say hello to our Montana family ! Such a great staff- I have never waited long for assistance with a drink or a meal ! Definitely coming back ! Kid-friendliness: Montanas is a family friendly establishment! My children love dinning at Montanas and the waitresses always go above and beyond to notice my children and make them feel welcomed.

Food was great, service needs a little work. They didnt really make eye contact, and almost had to walk out just in order to get the bartenders attention for a drink. And it really wasnt that busy to be lacking on the service.

Server was quick with the all you can eat ribs, like she knew us well. Always had one pre ordered for us and knew when to bring the beer. PERFECT Service.

Prices are okay, steak was perfect, but patatoe was small and dry. Poor selection of wines. Server was great and attentive. Overall a 4 out of 5.

Our food came out within 4 minutes of ordering and was cold. Service was horrible and unapologetic. Instantly on the defensive side when asking how the food could have come out faster then it took to place the order. Will not return.

Wifes chicken burger was very well overdone, second one was bit better, but not by much. Seems, they like who they like, and dislike who they dislike. Our server was awesome(Nancy), but as dar as the rest, will not be my preferred place to return. They say first impressions are lasting ones, well, I hope Montannas in Timmins improves on what they deliver. Thumbs down on food, thumbs up on service.

Great food as any Montanas would have. But the service here is god awful. No one is in a good mood, the staff seemed like they hated each other. I was over charged by the waitress because she kept entering the wrong items. Not a great atmosphere at all. Love Montanas. But this location is a disaster.

Montanas owners and staff always give exceptional service and food. They are very welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend. They willingly reached out to me and wanted to do an event fundraiser for my son who was part of a watercraft accident July 4th 2023. Montanas owners and staff have put their hearts and souls and their time to make such an amazing day/evening happen! Their generosity and support is amazing! My son and myself are truly blessed!

We had amazing service and even better food we were 7 at are table we had the canadian burger x2, fish and chip, fried butter milk chicken the kids had the Mexican wrap, mac and cheese, pizza and we all had desserts, cheese cake, donuts x2 and the chocolate chip cookie with ice cream on top and no complaints at all absolutely delicious! I highly recommend Montanas for their food, service and kindness!

I watched people arrive and leave in a very timely manner! The kitchen staff was on point delivering hot meals to patrons. No complaint about wait time or quality of food. Food was great, even if the portions seem to have shrunk a little. Clean, nice atmosphere, and the staff was excellent! Service was great and the food came out of the kitchen in a timely manner, cooked exactly as asked.

First time here and in Timmins. I can say this Canadian BBQ can compete with US BBQ. Service was awesome. Whenever Im back in Timmins Ill definitely be back.

Such a fantastic time visiting!! We had Nacy as our server. She was super polite and kind to us! We ordered our sons meal first and it came within 10 minutes. Appetizers 5 minutes after that and our meal 10 minutes after that!! All the food was amazing and I loved how fast the service was! Especially since we were dining with our one year old! Thank you so much Nancy, Kitchen staff and owner!

Beautiful place, but service sucked and one waitress was intoxicated clearly. One of our guests spoke french and she replied in English. Will never go back and don t recommend.

Its been 5 years since I was at Montanas in Timmins. Was not impressed with the food the last time I was there but...was so glad I came back...the food was amazing...service was amazing..our server Soniam I think it was ...was so good and sweet...meal was great and served in a prompt manner...will be back again for sure

I have had great experiences with the servers. Mostly the food is good, and mostly if theres any problems they will gladly fix it so just let them know... 90% of my experiences here have been quite good Kid-friendliness: They had the coolest hammock for our car seat which they offered as soon as they saw that we had a car seat.

Not polite from the phone call to order the food from picking it up . Thursday night 6:30 pm so that staff crew not to put other crew members down.

Used to be my favorite restaurant! My last 4-5 visits have been so disappointing. Its just over priced high end fast food. Cheapest frozen patties, soggy fries and I literally got 5 onion rings with my meal tonight. Quality and quantity have dropped significantly. Once a great family restaurant turned into typical corporation style establishment. More worried about pushing the food out asap for more profit rather than worrying about the quality of food served.

Good staff, great service! We didnt pay attention for too long before being served. The food was pretty amazing!

Called ahead to ensure that patio was open. Lady on the phone said yes it s open and they are still serving. We got there 15 minutes later and staff at reception said patio was closed. The staff just stood there and looked at me like zombies when I told them about the phone call. No apology or remorse. Just kept saying patio is closed.

I asked for 6 ribs but they only gave me 4, terrible service. I wanted 2 free ribs after - I was the one with short hair in the middle

Was here in 2019 and the all you can eat ribs was incredible. I personally recommend the apple butter sauce!

The food was great and warm when it arrived at our table, I had the rib and wing platter, the waitress was excellent, she was quick and made sure our drinks were always filled. The manager even came at our table to make sure everything was good, will definetly be going back

Service was ok and food wasnt. Big honking beef ribs was definitely not big and honking. Smallest Ive seen it left an elder hungry she ate her granddaughters fries afterwards. Smokehouse wrap was pretty empty with a splash of dry undercooked or old rice. My daughters kids ribs were good so .... Theres that.
