The first Sushi Shop restaurant opened its doors in 2000 at the Atwater Market and since then, the Quebec chain has become a predecessor in the Asian cuisine. As soon as the customer walks through the door, they know they are about to have a memorable experience in one of our Japanese restaurants. Crispy Rolls, Poke Bowls, Sushi Tacos, Sushi Burrito, Sushi Pizza, Combos, Vegetarian options, Hosomaki, Nigiri, Sashimi, Maki and Sumomaki to name only a few. You can order your sushi for take-out or for delivery. To find the services offered at your local sushi restaurant, please visit our website.
I had a great experience here. Specially the staff was so helping and polite. Food quality was also good.
Firstly, the staff wear gloves to make the sushi, then touch people's drinks with the same gloves. It's unsanitary. Secondly, I gave a five dollar tip, and the woman behind the counter did not thank or even acknowledge me. Although the food was okay, the customer service was very disappointing. The server also messed up the drink. Horrible experience, my last time coming here!
Called an hour before closing for a pick-up and I was told that they could not take my order because they were too busy. Super disapointed since I was told they were better then Osaka. I guess we'll never know.
I was more than disappointed when we stopped today at 5:00 to order food for supper from here. When driving south this is one of our stops ALL THE TIME… used to have the best sushi ever now it is terrible. All the orders of tuna tataki balls were bland barely any avocado in the middle and the tuna was not chard the little it is supposed to be… not to mention the two orders of red velvet were disgusting it was like a ball of mucked up tuna on top of a tatter and once again barely any avocado it was like a speck (the smallest smear). All the food was greatly disappointing to say the least. We will not stop here again as the memory taste has been ruined and I no longer will go out of my way to stop at the Timmin’s Sushi Shop. This is saddening for me and my entire family!
The poke bowls used to be so good and I'd get them all the time. However last time I went they used different lettuce, a leafier romaine instead of the usual shredded iceberg, and it made the whole bowl horrible. It didn't taste the same and was not enjoyable. It makes me never want to order from here again if they're just going to change ingredients like that with no warning.
Good food. Was able to accommodate vegan options. The tempera is very small for the price maybe like 6 very small pieces. Not a good value😔. Other than that it was good
UPDATE: After contacting customer service, they have made up for the errors. I will be giving them an other chance. The food would be good if it was made right. Seems to be every time I order a roll. It's missing something; either masego or sweet potato strings. I always have to call back, this time they offered to ship me masego. If they would offer to send me the full roll with the proper ingredients maybe I would keep ordering from them.
For the most part, the food is great. I like the selection of rolls is far better than Osaka, which I find very greasy as they're all dredged in Tempura. Sushi Shop is fresh and reliable. Which can't be said about the service. Staff are complacent on the phone and often forget items like soy, ginger, and chopsticks. *sigh* Still, worth ordering from though.
Overpriced for the amount you are getting.
Quick and easy
The food served here is freshly made everyday and is soooo good. I love The Sushi Shop
Never disappoints! They definitely care about quality and customer satisfaction. And the food is amazing, you really cant go wrong!
grossest sushi i ever had.
Good
ever answers their phone, and one day when i went in the staff muted the phone cause they didnt want to take any orders.... Not a way to do business
2nd best Sushi Restaurant in Northern Ontario!
They all rock
I ordered 3 items for pick up, one of which was deep fried. Was told 30mins. Ok np. After exactly 30 mins I go to pick up my 3 items. 1 item was missing on my order...lo and behold its the deep fried item. So I wait another 5 mins for my order to be complete. Paid $40 for my order. Upon arriving at home and starting to dive in, I notice something significant missing from my dish. I called them and they said yeah we cant get it from the supplier so we omit it. I said well had I know upon placing my order over the phone I would have ordered something else. So now thats 2 things wrong with my 3 item order. I asked so what do you do in a situation like this, during covid where I cant dine in and im already at home. Ill send you a new one. What would you like? Placed my reorder of a new item. She said we will send it when its ready. They close at 7pm. At 659pm I called and no one answered. Never got my replacement. Thanks for the poor service once again! Oh, this kind of thing has happened several times at this shop. I only order there because it tastes good. Service sucks!! And thats putting it lightly.
Sushi! Sushi! Fast sushi! Takehome good sushi!
August 28, 2020: I ve always raved about the selection, freshness and taste of any item on the menu. I realize 2020 has been a very difficult year for food establishments but today s experience was abysmal and just plain disgusting. I ordered an Inferno, rolled so poorly they looked like they d be smooshed before placed in the takeout container. The tuna tartare maki was inedible because it was much too spicy and couldn t taste anything else (that says a lot coming from someone who thoroughly enjoys spicy food and is quite liberal with the wasabi). The biggest disappointment, because it s my ultimate favourite item at the Sushi Shop, the squid in the spicy squid salad was hard/chewy. And to add insult to injury on a fairly expensive tab (nearly $60...including a tip), the salmon on the Volcano was barely seared and although they gave me an astronomical amount of wasabi and ginger on the side (don t know what that was about), I had no soya sauce containers. None! As for sanitation, in a time when masks are mandatory in indoor public places, while the cashier had her mask on (and I had mine), the other employee, the one making rolls, was wearing her mask below her chin.I should have said something right then and there but this is such a hot topic, I held my tongue. So this experience gets a big fat ZERO!
Had a very tasty lunch. Everything was fresh and just perfect
Love shrimp
The food is good but some days the foods a bit off, and they often mess up your order.
Love the variety of the combos. And the teriyaki bombs are the best!
Excellent food and service
Guess
Food was good but it took forever to get it. Would give 4 stars if just based on the food
This store has gone tremendously downhill in the past few months. Old ingredients are used which leads to not only an overpriced sushi but also a tasteless one. The service provided is often abrupt and slow which is disappointing. One small lunch will usually be more expensive then Osaka Sushi, an all you can eat, fresh sushi restaurant which is just nefarious.
Great souo
Great place for a quick bite. Service was decent.
Good food.
My last few orders took over an hour to get dilivered. When I called to ask why I was greeted with a sassy sounding male blamed the driver for not picking it up. It was 1 hour 10 mins late at that time. Today I tried again and my roles sat for so long that the tempura in my role was a literally a paste. Not crunch like I ordered. The same male tried to tell me that tempura is supposed to be a paste. Ive never herd or witnessed this anywhere els. Sorry if its real but I doubt something fried should be almost a liquid. This used to be a favorite spot for me but unfortunately the customer service had driven me off.
The food was excellent. A fresh take on sushi. We felt like we were in the city.
Good and pretty fast service
If your looking for the real sushi experience then dont go here! If you like their fake sushi style then great but dont expect anything authentic.
Hit or miss. Good food but more often then not theres something with my order.
First time ordering. Not the first time having their food but its amazing food. And fast amazing service. The girl that took my order was asking questions to see what i liked to help me choose a good meal and she helped so much. I also walked in at 11:30 and all their combo boxes were prepared and fresh just like they advertise. I would highly recommend this place if you wanted a wonderfully priced sushi meal on the go. I also want to say that the spicy rolls are amazing. Not to spicy but just enough so that there is a bit of heat to your mouth but doesnt over power the flavour
Fresh tasty ingrdients but theyre rolled too loose most times and fall apart
Good sushi all things considered. Sunday seems to be a bad day to go - fryer wasnt working.
Decent sushi but super slow service.
Friendly service, and great selections
Delicious and fresh! Weve had a great meal both times being here
Love the service now that one young lady gives 100%. Keep up the good work!! Love the food ...my favorite sushi place in Timmins!!
Ordered a bowp of ramen for delivery and it took over 2 hoirs to arrive
Great sushi burrito. Did not expect that in Timmins.
Love the food... if they will answer the phone.. 2 hours already... I give up!!
Very good
The sushi is really good. Good place to sit down and eat with a few friends. The prices are decent, but it gets pricey if you like to eat sushi often enough.
I dont get where these reviews are coming from. XD Osaka is by far, much better... Anyone whoe says Sushi Shop is better, is lying to you and themselves. I am a sushi fanatic. I dream sushi, I make sushi, I order sushi, and go out to eat sushi... I adore sushi... Sushi shop is not bad, they do have good items on their menu, but comparing it to Osaka is like comparing Pizza Pizza to Pizza Hut or Boston Pizza... Firstly, I love their Poke Bowl and Tonkotsu Soup. They have some good rolls, but unfortunately. their fish is kind of subpar. I am disgusted by their sashimi, which is my favourite sushi to eat... At Osaka, the Sashimi is completely fresh, tastes great, and you can see the natural fresh colors.. At the Sushi Shop however, Sashimi looks odd, tastes horrible, and seems like it has been sitting in water instead of on ice.. Just by the look, let alone the taste, you can clearly tell the quality is not there. The rice on the nigiri and other rolls seem to have been sitting for a bit as well. When I want quick and am not hankering for Sashimi, I will order the Poke Bowl, some Miamis, or soup, but if I want quality sushi, I will go to Osaka. Osaka employs actual sushi chefs, where as I only ever see teenagers working at Sushi Shop. Do not kid yourself by comparing the two restaurants.. There is no tie...
Very slow and pricey. Four people that ordered after me got their food before I did .
Well... In my opinion, the sushi there is sub par. The tempura in my dynamite roll was cold and soggy like a golden retriever stuck in a rain shower. The rice ? Tasted like Uncle Bens and was colder than the bottom pit of my freezer. The Wasabi resembled dry play-dough, which if I recall from when I was a kid, tasted almost the same ..or dare I say maybe a bit better ? Avocado was nice and the spicy mayo was ok. The place provides a clean environment and has very friendly staff. The ambiance and location is perfect for grabbing a quick lunch or snack ...maybe a very casual dinner . All and all, location, staff, ambiance--and the fact that its Timmins--earn this sushi eatery a 3.
Food was goo but i didnt get what i ordered.
Nice little sushi place! The sushi is fresh and well prepared. Its a little pricey, but on par with other none AYCE places Ive been. Service was decent but not the most friendly.
Always great sushi and fascinating experience watching sushi in the making! Jeremi
i was very displeased by the service here today. I called in my order for delivery and was put on hold for three minutes while the employee talked to one of her coworkers (I could hear the entire conversation since she hadnt muted) and finally when she returned to take my order, she took my name, number and said goodbye without asking for my address or payment type. I luckily was able to get her attention before she hung up and i gave her the rest of my information and she seemed in a rush to hang up. she hung up without saying another word... very disappointed.
Good tasting sushi, price was a little outrageous when you could go to Osaka Sushi during lunch and get an all you can eat for like 20 dollars. The shrimp tempura in the middle was cold and obviously was kept in a fridge all day, and the avocado was old and dark green.
Food is good really good selection perfect for lunch down town if you re on the go
Great food.
Best sushi in Timmins! So good!
Staff was super helpful and friendly
The poke bowl was delicious and freshly made to order.
This is the only place i go to get my sushi. The employees are awesome and the food is always good.
Great service and easy to work with. I was on my way from YYZ to YMO overnighting in YTS. Arrived late but was able to order food ahead and have it delivered to the hotel I was staying at. Hassle-free ordering and looking forward to eating something that I dont get too often because of where I live. I will order from here again.
Love it great take out , great combination . At the right price.
Unexpectedly Delicious
This sushi is terrible. Do your self a favour and go to Osaka Sushi.
I think the sushi is way better than Osaka and much easier to order. The menu has photos and a very good description. Something you dont get anywhere else in town. I have never had an issue with freshness and I also think the pieces are way more creative
