DaiLo- regular dinner menu and tasting menu serves creative Asian cuisine from 5pm-11pm. LoPan upstairs bar- serves late night Filipino snacks and drinks/signature cocktails from 11:30pm-close Thursday-Saturday
We recently dined at DaiLo to celebrate our 10th year anniversary, as it came highly recommended by a friend. While the food was truly outstanding beautifully crafted and full of flavor, the overall experience fell short of our expectations. For a Wednesday night, the restaurant was surprisingly loud, making it difficult to hold a conversation. Additionally, I was seated on a bench that was connected to the one behind me, so every time the person sitting there moved or laughed, my seat shook, which became quite distracting. Service was decent but lacked the personal touch we were hoping for on a special occasion. When I made the reservation, I mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary, but there was no acknowledgment of this during our meal. A simple gesture, like a congratulatory mention or even a small dessert, would have made the evening feel more memorable. While the food was exceptional and absolutely worth trying, the ambiance and service didn’t match the high expectations set by the recommendation. As much as we appreciated the culinary creativity, I wouldn’t return solely for the food, as the overall dining experience didn’t feel as special as it should have for such an occasion.
Recently got to visit this restaurant for their premium tasting menu - and the food was pretty fantastic! The space is really cozy and everyone in my group left quite full. There was a number of fantastic dishes that stood out! The flavours were very unique and creatively presented. They also seem very accommodating to any allergies or dietary restrictions. The only thing I would say that stood out between this place and other high end restaurants in Toronto would be the service. While everyone was friendly and welcoming, water was spilled several times, sauce was spilled on one of us as they were cleaning up a course & the meal ended rather abruptly when they gave us the bill without us asking for it. Other than that, I would recommend checking out this spot!
It’s a nice spot that delivers on flavor and creativity. We went with the DaiLo’s choice menu, which consists of multiple dishes available at the restaurant. Every dish was packed with bold, Asian-inspired flavors. The seasoning can be a bit too much in a few dishes, but it might be just my preference. The ambiance is warm and the service was attentive without being overbearing. It’s an experience worth having. I’ll definitely be back!
This is by far one of the best dining experiences we had in recent times. This place had great ambiance and amazing service with super delicious food. Our server Hugo was amazing! He not only took time to explain the items on the menu but also recommended the dishes that were spot on to have both our tummy and mind feeling full of flavors! We would definitely come ba k here to try the other items, and I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for fusion Asian food with great service and ambiance.
We tried the premium tasting menu for $130 pp which came with 13 courses. I loved the flexibility to be able to say what I like and don’t like and the menus being customized to the preference. Each dish comes with so much detail, asian flavours with western techniques, the plating. 🧑🍳😘 And our server Emily was absolutely the best! We’ll be back.
We ordered 6 different dishes and every single one of them was out of this world! Hats off to our server Connor. He was outstanding and really impressed us with his knowledge of the food, flavors and preparation. Can't wait to come back.
Up there for one of the top tasting menus in the city. For $130 a pop, they brought us a total of 9 courses + a complimentary extra dessert. The dishes do a good job of highlighting the various flavours and styles that the restaurant wants to showcase; whether it’s Chinese, SE Asian, Japanese mixed with some European flair. A good range of flavours and textures too, ranging from sweet, spicy, fresh to creamy. Highlight for me was the eggplant dish that tasted very meaty and had a fantastic combination of SE Asian flavours. The corn dumpling was also amazing and was bursting with sweet corn flavour. Mashed potato and pasta dish were both takes on classic homestyle dishes that were elevated really well with an asian flair.
Love coming here for special occasions and doing the tasting menu. Always really fun especially with larger groups and the flavours and quality is consistent. Overall the staple dishes don’t change but I find those are the things I come back for (betel leaf wrap, octopus tacos, and signature dumplings are my favourite) You leave full for sure but I do find the included dessert to be a bit lacklustre (sorbet)
We attended Dai Lo the other night and had such a fantastic meal. Given a number of allergies that I have, I was a bit worried that I would be bringing down the options for the group but the team at Dai Lo curated a tasting menu for me individually! They always came to the table with a smile and thoroughly explained the dishes, even checking in with us about how things tasted and asking whether we were full. Their hospitality was really next level. The vibe of the restaurant was warm and cozy, and very beautiful! We attended on a Thursday night and they had karaoke upstairs which was such a fun add on to the night. This experience will be a lasting memory!
Phenomenal dining experience, highly recommend for any celebration, date night or simply to enjoy fusion Asian cuisine. We ordered the tasting menu - thoughtfully curated paired with exceptional service end to end. Will definitely be back!
Nothing but amazing things to say about our experience here. We opted for the tasting menu and it did not disappoint. Every course exceeded our expectations. The team was careful to highlight the art behind each dish. There were also incredibly wonderful personal touches throughout including our dessert and from the staff.
My girlfriend and I got the premium set together and the food was very good up until they gave us the Truffle Hainanese Chicken which we didn t like because it was not cooked well and did not have much flavour. A friend of ours told us recently that they were going to Dailo and that they planned to get the premium set so we told her to request that they her anything but the Truffle Hainanese Chicken and the waiter told her that they would never serve that item on the premium set . Upon hearing this response from our friend my girlfriend and I are now feeling pretty upset because it seems like they gave us something that shouldn t have been on the premium set to us during our meal. We were pretty disappointed by the item during the meal and now feeling even more disappointed because it seems like we were served something from the lower priced set menu despite paying the premium menu pricing
I came here for light bites and a cocktail, and while the tacos were amazing and the cocktail was good, the fried watermelon was just okay. Unfortunately, the service ruined the experience. The staff was condescending, openly judged my order, and even whispered and laughed while looking at me. It felt incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful. Great food, but I won t be back due to the terrible service.
The vegetarian food was mind blowing.
Food is overpriced. They continue to push their tasting menu, overpriced and mediocre. The 5 star reviews look fishy, there is no way this place warrants those reviews. Save your money, so many other choices.
Was here not long ago on a date night. Ordered many things including the weird watermelon dish. Half way through dinner I started to feel unwell. Finished eating, food was not good. We were in the car driving home and I threw up out of no where inside the car. By the time I got home I was turning gray. I spent all night throwing up. My partner had diarrhea the day after. I really do not recommend this place.
The chefs mother s dumplings were so hearty, chicken was innovative. Very tasty cocktails great hospitality!
I only had drinks there , but the atmosphere is amazing and definitely a place to come back.
Service was incredible, appetizers were truly amazing, a great place!
Had terrible stomach pain after eating hainan chicken
Tasting menu is one of the absolute best.
Dailo was fantastic. Took my mom out to dinner for her birthday alongside my dad and we had a blast. It was their first time really trying Asian western fusion cuisine and seeing them gush about how good the food was when they were initially skeptical was wonderful. We ordered the betel leaf, the eggplant dish, the giggie trout, the hainanese chicken rice and off their special menu, their white truffle house made egg noodles. My favorite was the egg noodles for sure, and everything else except the hainanese chicken rice was exceptional too. The hainanese chicken was good dont get me wrong, but my family and I all agreed that although the chicken was tender, because it was cooked sous vide it didnt have the qq texture were used to and love from traditionally cooked hainanese chicken rice, where the chicken and especially the chicken skin has a bit of a bouncy chew to it. Other than that though, constructive criticism wise it is a bit loud in the restaurant, not our favorite but also not unexpectedly so on a busy Saturday night. Our server Doug was fantastic as well - gave lovely recommendations and was so attentive throughout the meal, making sure we had everything we needed and also wishing my mom a happy birthday day. Thanks Doug and everyone at Dailo for a lovely evening!! Were completely convinced to come back and give the tasting menu a try another day!
Geoff is excellent. We had a dinner at Dailo and it was a fantastic experience. We also tried the wine pairing, and Geoff enhanced the flavor of our wine with detailed explanations. The atmosphere was also great, and all the staff were friendly.
These reviews are heavily incentivized, if not paid for. Very average in comparison to other restaurants in Toronto. I d rather reach for Mimi s or Sunny s Chinese food to fill my high-end Asian food craving. Will not be returning anytime soon.
Straight Fire, attentive servers, food was amazing, had the haien chicken, the trout in the leaf, the dumplings come with an amazing sauce. Lot of Food for two people for $200 with tip. Amazing.
Dietary restrictions: Did a good job accommodating a range of different allergies. Food
Fantastic ambience, service (not overbearing, and everyone on the team was super friendly and knowledgeable) and killer food. Had the premium tasting menu and nothing disappointed was hard to pick a favorite dish because everything was amazing.
So many flavours! Service consistently excellent.
A really great and affordable tasting menu option in Toronto! The tasting menu came with a decent amount of food so well worth the price. The service and ambiance of DaiLo was great - elevated casual. Lots of people there because it s a popular spot but service was excellent. The food itself was pretty good. All the drinks were incredible and my favourite was the Tom Yum. The mains were okay but everything before and after the mains were quite good. The stand out dishes were the betal leaf, potato, beef carpaccio, and pasta. A very special shout out to the mashed potatoes, I could have had an entire plate of that because it was so good.
The service is impeccable but the food wasn t to our taste. Interesting combinations but often too sweet
I am beginning to suspect that all these reviews are paid for; which further, makes me feel like I was set up for disappointment. Overall, the experience was just mediocre, if not below average. The food wasnt anything out of the ordinary, especially considering the price. Additionally, the service was incredibly poor. It was a milestone Birthday for my father which I had let the servers know in advance in our reservation, and also at our table, but no one seemed to care. We had four or five different people servicing us at once, as opposed to having one server, and each one seemed beyond bored explaining the dishes to us. There are far better Asian restaurants in Toronto, take Lees or Mimis Chinese for example. I would recommend going to one of these places if youre looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate at. Will not be returning.
Wow, you can rate this restaurant for Michelin Star!!!!
We had the premium tasting menu and it was one of the best.
Fusion Chinese cuisine with a Southeast Asian and subtle Italian twist, where each course is thoughtfully balanced with rich textures and vibrant flavors. We chose the chef s tasting menu, which included five courses and a simple dessert. For one of the courses, we could select an entree from the à la carte menu. Our favorite was the dumplings in the fourth course, reminiscent of ravioli. The Italian flavors blended with Chinese sophistication created an exceptional combination!
15/10. We did the tasting menu and they catered it to what we wanted to try. It was some of the best food we ve had in the city. Tom was our server and if you can I d recommend asking for him! He elevated the experience from amazing to outstanding for us
DaiLo has always been on our tasting menu bucket list, and they did not disappoint! Their attention to detail with the menu and atmosphere was noteworthy. Our server Emily was diligent, friendly, and accomodating. She answered every single question and made our experience memorable. The menu items were flavourful, thoughtfully arranged, and highlights the best elements of Asian cuisine. They had their signature dishes but also added in some lovely off-menu ones. Service was well-paced and orderly. They will tailor menu items to your preference or if you have any dietary restrictions. It was my partner s birthday so they surprised her with a wonderful Vietnamese coffee tiramisu dessert! We appreciated the culinary experience from start to finish. Would highly recommend DaiLo for anyone looking for a tasting menu experience or a special occasion. Thank you DaiLo chefs and staff for your service!
We had an incredible culinary experience at DaiLo!! We enjoyed the tasting menu with wine pairings and I must say this is the way to do it. Every bite was unique and delicious. So many flavour combinations that paired perfectly with our wine. We sat at the bar which was a great place to watch the bartenders at work. Chef Nick Liu goes above and beyond to create an experience like no other. The amuse bouche was next level with so much flavour I couldn t wait to try the next morsel of goodness. The Khao Soi, which isn t often on the menu blew me away. The dumplings, the betel leaf app and the truffle fried rice were also delectable. I loved the Tom Yum Booze as a starter cocktail. The atmosphere was alive and the music was on point! I highly recommend DaiLo and can t wait to go back.
DaiLo A Dining Experience to Remember I recently had the pleasure of dining at DaiLo to celebrate a friend s birthday, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this restaurant prides itself on attention to detail, impeccable service, and a passion for creating memorable experiences. The service was flawless. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in ensuring every aspect of our evening was perfect. Their thoughtful recommendations and thorough explanations of the menu added a personal touch that elevated the experience even further. The food? Simply breathtaking. Every dish was a masterpiece, featuring layered flavors that unfolded with each bite. The balance of textures and the bold yet harmonious flavors spoke to a culinary team that truly understands their craft. Every element, no matter how small, was executed with precision and creativity. The ambiance of DaiLo tied everything together beautifully. The space felt both intimate and lively, creating the perfect setting for a celebration. Overall, DaiLo is more than just a meal; it s an experience. If you re looking for exceptional service, thoughtfully crafted dishes, and an unforgettable evening, this is the place to be.
I recently celebrated my birthday at Daì Lo with friends, and it was an unforgettable experience. We opted for the tasting menu, which showcased an incredible fusion of Vietnamese and French cuisines. Each dish was both inventive and delicious, featuring standout plates like fried spicy watermelon, smoked trout on a Betel leaf, 90-day dry-aged butcher shoppe rib eye, and crispy octopus tacos. The service was impeccable our servers were attentive, knowledgeable, and provided thorough descriptions of each dish, which added to the overall experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a special occasion or a memorable night out. I would highly recommend Daì Lo to anyone looking for unique, elevated flavors and top-notch hospitality. It s a dining experience worth savouring!
Absolutely exceeded my expectations! Being a regular of Thursday night Kareoke upstairs at the extension Lo Pan. I have always been a huge fan of the staff and atmosphere. Dai Low is a journey for the tastebuds. Chef, serves, and management work seamlessly to guide you through a very special world of food. Each one just as exceptional as the last at making you feel at home along the way. Perfect example of how food and service when done right can be poetry. A medication for the soul. Worth every penny I will return, I will recommend, I will see you next week for Kareoke.
Went for dinner, but not sure I would go back. Some dishes were good but others I wasnt very impressed with.
One of the most inventive and delicious tasting menus Ive had in Toronto. The tom yum custard alone is worth coming back for. Highly recommended. Also really creative cocktails to pair!
Hugo was our server and the Premium $130.00 tasting menu and overall experience was disappointing. No lobster, no pizzazz! Super expensive for not a lot of sparkle. Octopus was fried in stale oil. I now understand why the Michelin guide doesnt include Dailo. Its just not worth the money and nobody circles back to ask how each course tastes.
This restaurant gets 5 stars alone because of the staff, but the food was also amazing. Great food with even better stories behind it!
Wowwwww!!! Incredible dining experience with the chefs menu. One plate better than the next. To break it down a bit though I ll split this review into what I loved and what I didn t like as much / where there s room for improvement. What I loved / must get menu items - whole fried Giggie trout: fried so it s crispy outside and then soft and flaky inside and accompanied by yummy dipping sauces - 90 day dry aged rib eye: best steak I ve ever eaten. So tender. Juicy. On a bed of truffle potato mash. Craziness. - eggplant, burrata, pistachio pesto dish: those 3 ingredients are like my fave ever so that s an easy way to my heart but wow the combo together was so amazing and unique and loved it. I think it s a hidden menu item so ask?? - fried watermelon - also hidden menu item. I liked it, my mom loved it. Crispy on the outside and refreshing on the inside but I didn t like that the chunks of watermelon were so big that they weren t one bite because that way the fried part came off with your first bite and ratio was off and then for the second bite you were left with just watermelon. Well that s a good Segway to what I didn t like as much: - We felt a bit rushed with the courses they brought the next course and took our plates before we were fully done and so we kinda had to quickly have the last bites of the previous course so they could put the next course on the table - The dumplings course was not my fave: one dish was with corn and the other with something seafoody. They were kinda meh and like soggy?? I guess one could also say saucy but idk i think toronto has better dumpling spots so I d probs skip this dish next time - That being said, the chefs menu was a lot of food and a great way to try out a wide array of dishes but i think I d do à la carte next time or ask to skip the dumplings cause when we got to what they called the main course , which was the trout and steak, I was already so full and wasnt able to enjoy it as much. We took the rest as leftovers but it s never gonna taste as good heated up. And because we were so full we actually asked them not to bring us dessert - and that is saying a lot for me cause I don t go a meal without something sweet to end on but I could not have had anything more Ok, the end. I loved it here and will talk about it for a long time !!!!! Go to Dai Lo!!!!!! Enjoy!!!!!
We had the tasting menu here and several cocktails. All of the cocktails were unique, and tasted amazing. The tasting menu had 6 courses, most were good but did not blow me away. The shrimp spoon appetizer and lobster on toast were good, while the trout at the end was okay. The biggest disappointment of the meal was the dessert, which was a small lemon sorbet. Shameful for a restaurant like this to serve something so basic at the end of their tasting menu. I honestly thought they brought this out as a palate cleanser in preparation for the real dessert. Sadly, this wasn t the case.
The tasting menu is the way to go and the vegetarian options are fantastic. I loved the jicama cauliflower tacos, truffle fried rice, corn dumplings, and the fried eggplant. Each course/dish is presented by the staff and food comes at a good pace. Vegetarian options: The tasting menu can be made vegetarian
This is my favourite Asian haka fusion restaurant in Toronto. Every dish was amazing and delicious. The service was top notch. The drinks were authentic and so was the food. The chef even came out to serve us our dessert very impressed. 6 Michelin quality
Great experience with the tasting menu!
I went there cause my friend was celebrating her birthday! Nice vibe, cool decoration and stylish! I didnt eat anything but I was told they have karaoke night throughout the week. I guess I have to return!! Hehhe
Premium course meal was not out of this world, service was just ok. Some dishes were interesting but overall too salty and too much on the sauce especially the amount of truffle overpower the main course. Most dishes are on the cold side. Server doesn t come and make small talks, menu explanations were not amazing, noting that it s my birthday on the booking but make no mention until when I m leaving when other table getting sparkly candle. I m glad I tried it once after hearing all the great reviews from Reddit but likely will not be a regular.
this was the most amazing tasting menu I have had in Toronto! A must try!
Amazing tasting menu, everything was delicous. The stand outs were the Phaux Beef Carpaccio, Corn filled dumplings and the main course, the New Zealand rock fish was incredible. There were no misses on any course! Our server was fantastic as well.
We visited this place to celebrate our daughters birthday. My wife and I splurged on the tasting menu while our daughters had the Hainese chicken which they thoroughly enjoyed. The tasting menu was one of the most memorable experiences weve had dining out. Each dish impressed us so thoroughly it was awe-inspiring. The chefs vision and passion were evident in each bite we took. The service staff were keen to serve and make our dining experience exceptional.
This is without doubt THE BEST restaurant in Toronto. It s a crime DaiLo isnt listed in the Michelin guide and a tragedy it doesn t have at least 1 star. But probably fortunate for us that know.
I recently visited Dailo for a friend s birthday celebration, where we opted for the chef s menu. The overall experience was enjoyable, with a few standout dishes. As a group of 11, we were pleased to see that the chef s menu offered a variety of dishes, including vegetarian options, which was great for accommodating everyone s preferences. The food was good, with some dishes truly standing out. However, the service was slower than expected, likely due to our large table. Initially, the portion sizes were quite small, which left us feeling a bit underwhelmed. Fortunately, as the meal progressed, the portion sizes improved significantly, making for a more satisfying dining experience. Among the highlights were the tofu tacos, which were packed with flavor and had a delightful texture, the truffle fried rice, which was rich and aromatic, and the aloe vera sorbet, which was refreshingly light and a perfect palate cleanser. These dishes really elevated the meal and were the unanimous favorites at our table. I would recommend Dailo for special occasions, pricing is on a higher side. Overall it was a good dining experience. Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian substitutions are available
We did the tasting menu and the dishes were flavourful and so creative! Customer service was great. We did not like the lamb and they replaced it with a different dish for us. Highly appreciated!
I really wanted to love this place because I had been hearing a lot about it. We did the premium tasting menu for a friends birthday which costed $130 per person. Def, did not think it was worth more than even $50-75. Small plates were all tasty but the amount of protein (Shrimp, scallop etc) were a bit too little for it to be worth that whopping price. For example, the Moroccan shrimp was to be shared between the two of us, something that I feel should have been a per person item because of the price. Furthermore, they served me an item that I had a strict dietary restriction against eating and I received a sorry about that which for me I feel was a big miss because the whole point of a catered tasting menu is to avoid this. The service by our initial waiter was great but every dish was being brought over by different servers and some explained the dishes really well while others didnt. I also booked a table that was a high top but after realizing how small the space was, and after informing them, we were doing the premium tasting menu, we asked to move to a booth which we were told was not available but throughout our visit (over 2 hours), we saw seating available. I just felt like this wasnt the best experience. I definetly do not think the dishes matched up to the price. There was a vietnamese tirimisu at the end that was delectable but other than that, I was not wowed by this place!
Absolutely the best Asian fusion restaurant in Toronto and they have a great cocktail menu as well. Highly recommended
Manager spoon fed me dumpling. 10/10 highly recommend
Spectacular food and amazing service, the tasting menu was honestly one of the best dinners I have had in years
What a delightful and delicious experience! Came with my family for a birthday celebration. Food was exquisite, beautifully presented, and explained in terms of ingredients. Atmosphere was welcoming with waitstaff who were attentive but not overwhelming. They answered all our questions including about the beautiful hand painted mural on the east wall; admire it between your courses and then enjoy the food with its variety of textures, ingredients, colours and accompaniments. Loved the crispy octopus tacos and the wontons. Also try the off-menu items.
This was magical, inspirational, words cant describe how phenomenal the food is. I loved the food and it well worth the price. I had the pork octopus tacos and the duck dish.
Have you ever been to a restaurant finding yourself in an unexpected state of bliss after dining, recalling all the flavors still making their way through your senses? If not, go to DaiLo. Incomparable service, knowledge, and personality. Let Trevor guide your wine selection, Emily serve you with grace, and Chef Nick leave you in awe of his masterful creations. This will always be our first stop in Toronto. Bravo Team DaiLo!!
Believe the hype, DaiLo deserves its spot in Canadas 100 best! We came for a tasting menu with high expectations and they were surpassed! I loved the creativity in their interpretations of the dishes, my favorite was the truffle Hainanese chicken. We also opted for the wine and sake pairing and I dont think Ive ever tried sake but it was so interesting and very fun as a complement to the menu. Desert was to die for, the tiramisù is a very fun take on the classic. I will be back!
Food was okay-good depending on dish. We got the premium tasting course. Unfortunately the experience was ruined by the service we received. While we were eating inside, a fly was constantly flying around and landed on our food. We informed a waiter who brought over the manager. As were speakong to him, the fly is rubbing its little feet all over the food. Instead of apologizing and offering a solution, he asked what do you want me to do about it? Seriously? We were stunned that for a restaurant of this class having a tasting menu over $100 they did not have the courtesy to replace 1 chicken dish that had a fly on it while the manager is looking at it. My only regret is I didnt take a video to capture this moment. If you go, just make sure to keep swatting the flies away or you might have a similar experience
It was my first time here so I wasnt sure what to expect, but literally every aspect was knocked out of the park. Ill definitely be trying the chefs special next time. Highly recommend the sunchoke dumplings
5 stars all around !! Really great experience, lovely atmosphere and great service ! Food is outstanding!
Gravity defying, meticulously prepared, mouth melting, expertly presented, Michelin worthy food! Will be back!
Absolutely incredible restaurant. Food and dining experience was well above and beyond. The premium tasting menu was one of the best restaurant experiences I ve ever had. This is a must try for elevated Asian cuisine.
Amazing food overall. We had a few appetizers, a main course, s cocktail, and dessert. Everything was very tasty and unique.
Every bite on the tasting menu was excellent.
The premium tasting menu is a must!! Worth every dollar.
Delicious food.
Get the Dailo Chooses and you wont be disappointed. Great with allergies!
Unforgettable Date Night at Dailo Toronto - A Culinary Masterpiece My gorgeous wife Myra and I recently celebrated a special date night at Dailo Toronto, and it was an unforgettable experience. Chef Nick Lius unbelievable skills shone through in every dish, creating a culinary masterpiece that left us speechless. We started with the exquisite custard Tom Yum, a perfect balance of flavors that danced on our palates. The rib eye steak was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, and the crunchy tiramisu was a delightful surprise that ended the meal on a high note. The surprising nostalgic flavour of the Big Mac Boa was so playful and perfectly fit the taste journey. The staffs warm hospitality and impeccable service added to the magic of the evening. Their recommendations were spot-on, guiding us through a culinary journey that exceeded our expectations. Dailo Toronto is more than just a restaurant, its an experience that will leave you inspired and wanting more. Thank you, Chef Nick Liu and the entire team, for creating such a memorable evening. We cant wait to return!
Disappointing tasting menu. Very underwhelming and forgettable. They were selling us on the premium tasting menu with the Nova scotia scallop only for it to be thinly sliced like in the picture. Barely had any. Portions were small. Won t be coming back.
A great place and very unique application of Chinese ingredients into a modern and personal expression.
Truly a unique experience! I loved that we had to option to customize our own tasting menu by altering the portion sizes of various à-la-carte items (without having to pay $100pp for the actual tasting menu). Our server was super friendly and plenty to say about the menu (ie. suggestions, ingredient information). I especially loved that he paired together the dishes that he brought out based on their flavour profiles. Considering Im not a fan of seafood, I was surprised by the fact that my top two favourite dishes were the hakka brown wontons (pork & shrimp) and the sunchoke dumplings. The big mac bao and fried eggplant with burrata cheese (both specialties of the night) were also very delicious. The only complaint I have is that the restaurant is VERY loud and it was quite difficult to have a conversation with the people at my table, even if they were sitting next to me. I was also disappointed by the truffle Hainanese chicken - Id recommend sticking with the appetizers, as all of them exceeded my expectations.
Always great
Came here for a friends birthday and the food was fabulous! And service was equally as exceptional. We ordered the chefs menu and it did not disappoint. We left extremely full and content. Excellent value for the abundance of delicious dishes we got to try!
Went for dinner last night. We ordered pork & shrimp wontons for Appetizers and they were delicious. For the mains we wanted to try the Khao Sao with ribs as this was one of their specials for the night. Was very disappointed as the broth was extremely salty. Had to ask our server to take it back. Good thing is the chef agreed that by mistake they put more oyster sauce than the required amount so the broth got too salty. They didn t charge us for the dish ( which was 52$) and also served us complimentary lemon sorbet which was really nice. I was a bit pissed as I had to walk back home hungry as we only had appetizers.
Outstanding!!!!
Delicious tasting menu with very generous portions. Very unique flavours and textures in every dish. Service was excellent as well. Wonderful experience overall, definitely recommend.
Super experience. Great dishes, incredible hospitality and service.
This place is a must! There were three of us and we splurched. We had the chefs choice. Small print bottom of the menu. 16 dishes in total. Worth every penny!! I missed a couple of dishes.
I ve been here twice now and each time it s an incredible and unique experience! The atmosphere and staff are wonderful, and the food is top class. Literally every dish, you cannot go wrong. Personal favourites are the amuse bouche, the beef carpaccio, pork hock, sun-choke and uni dumplings, and literally everything they have on special.
The tasting menu here was phenomenal if you like asian fusion dishes. It s not necessarily a blind tasting menu, since they give out items from the regular menu, but you don t really get to choose which ones (except if you have one you especially like/ don t like). Each dish was carefully thought out, I was especially surprised with the sunchoke dumplings which was the most delicious part of the night. It was extremely umami and had a hint of an uni flavour. Another notable mention was the deep fried watermelon with the braised pork hock. The watermelon isn t actually on the menu, so be sure to ask for it specially. Some dishes were presented family-style and some solo. There were a lot of large dishes considering it was a tasting menu. At some point, I wondered if they were full sized dishes (especially the truffle fried rice). In the end, we were very very full and happy. I d come back to specifically order my favourite dishes.
One of the best!! Creative and delicious dishes, great service, good ambience. We did the tasting menus and my vegetarian option was great. Would recommend 100%.
It s our second time here, I would say it s a genuine culinary experience. We tried the DaiLo choice tasting menu, it was a 8 to 9 course meal. Each item was creative, unique and an explosion for our taste buds. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Food
Had the tasting menu here it s expensive but you get a lot of options and definitely leave full with goodies to take home. The only thing I absolutely hated was the fried watermelon. It had a weird mouth feel and the flavour wasn t good enough to offset the texture. IMO, the fried watermelon needs to be smaller and way crispier. The betel leaf wrap was my favourite. Everything else was tasty but nothing mind-blowing. The service here is amazing!
Drinks were good and atmosphere was nice Reservation was originally supposed to be for the speakeasy bar, but it had been rented out for an event and we were placed in the restaurant
A faultless dining experience. Every dish was creative, beautifully presented, and unbelievably delicious. The service was outstanding. Cant wait for next time!
This was our second time at DaiLo. The food was divine, as was the hands on, personalized service. The waiters and maître d were very attentive, making note of our no pork dietary requirements, yet personally making us food from the menu, with an additional three complimentary dishes, all delicious. The play on flavours, with the perfect mix of sweet, salty, tangy and spicy was pure delight on the palate. The maître d was extremely attentive and friendly. This has to be one of my absolute favourite restaurants in Toronto. Hope to be returning very soon. Highly recommended.
Bit delayed in my review; went there like five years ago - but I had their whole menu and everything was of impeccable quality.
Food was amazing here! I am a vegetarian and the server made recommendations and even said that a lot of the meat dishes could be made vegetarian which was great. Server was kind and informative. The restaurant is very aesthetically pleasing and such a fun vibe. The other workers were also very nice. The restaurant was well past closing when we were done our meal but they even offered to take us to the bar upstairs and show us around. Would definitely recommend! Vegetarian options: For vegetarians, the truffle fried rice, Singaporean cauliflower curry, and sunchoke dumplings (veg version) were amazing 10/10!
Good fusion restaurant, every dish surprises me
amazing food and service
seasonal set menu
super creative unique and delicious dishes, excellent service and beautiful restaurant and vibe
Amazing food, best service, shout out Jeff he was a legend. Couldn t recommend this place more. Michelin star incoming
Items are innovative but seasoning was off for all dishes.
Jeff and Carmella made my birthday so special. Best food in the city, the Vietnamese egg yolk tiramisu was out of this world. Thank you for accommodating us last minute and making it a wonderful experience

Great place - many favs on the menu
Had the premium tasting menu (130$ per person) and two drinks (foggy morning on Hong Kong, not pictured, and the other one I can t recall the name of, it s the first on the menu and gin based). Everything was impeccable, my fave was the Uni dumplings. My only feedback is to have comfier chairs. We sat at the high top and its wooden chairs with no cushion. For a 3 hour tasting menu, this can get quite uncomfortable. Please consider adding a small pillow. Our server was kind enough to write down what we got since the tasting menu is adapted for what the table wants.
I recently dined at Dailo with a friend and was thoroughly disappointed with the experience. We ordered the trout as our main dish along with several sides. The trout was fried from tail to head, and the meat was incredibly dry and salty. This prompted us to request a salad to lighten our palate, but the only option available was a Caesar salad, which seemed unusual for such a highly recommended restaurant. Nonetheless, we ordered it based on our servers recommendation. To our shock, the Caesar salad arrived covered in fried snails. As a pescatarian, I had informed the server of my dietary restrictions from the beginning. While some may argue that snails could be considered pescatarian, this is certainly not what one would expect in a Caesar salad. The server failed to inform us of this unconventional ingredient, and when I left all the snails on the plate, there was no inquiry as to why they were uneaten or if everything was satisfactory. Additionally, all the protein in our dishes was fried, which did not seem fresh or of the caliber one would expect from a restaurant of this reputation. The food felt second-tier and the high price point was not justified by the quality served. Overall, Dailo fell far short of my expectations and I was extremely disappointed with both the food and the service. This experience was not up to the standards one would expect, especially given the restaurants acclaim.
DaiLo presents an inviting atmosphere with its charming tableware. Everything I tried was delicious! Lovely menu, good service. One of my top 5 restaurants in Toronto. We will definitely be back
I have to come back to give them their 5 stars for the food because I know they have it in them. The flavours were phenomenal, tried the truffle fried rice, uni dumplings and the carpaccio. The carpaccio came first and was insanely good and I m not one to eat raw foods, sometimes I ll do torched but not fully raw but that was a 11/10 and the flavours gave me a mouth orgasm. The truffle fried rice came with freshly grated black truffle on the top but I feel like the rice itself didn t have much truffle flavour and I m personally just not a huge fan of wild rice which they incorporated but I ll still give that an easy 8/10. The cream uni dumplings I was recommended to try and personally don t like creamy things so it through me off when I first started chewing but once I got passed the texture the flavour was really good. Service was GREAT they did not miss there and even comped our dumplings which was very nice of them and will make me feel guilty if I don t come back to give them another shot. So I highly recommend and will be returning myself and I forget our servers name and the gentlemen that spoke to us again but thank you very much and I ll see you guys again soon!
The pumpkin dumplings were delicious - I would have gladly just eaten a heaping plate of those. The real winner (and reason for this review) was their dessert - it was something like a Vietnamese coffee tiramisu, and it was the best dessert I have ever had.
Love the concept of DaiLo which means in Cantonese. My favorite is Sunchoke dumplings, it has the similar shape as ravioli but the magic really lies in the gravy, worth a try if u are new here!
Had the best experience at Dailo ! Definitely going back . Had made a reservation for birthday celebration! Chef Jeff ( hopefully that s the correct name ) Was extremely sweet .. catered to our table and dietary restrictions so that we could try multiple things .. The food was perfectly spiced ,flavourful and every dish was so different! The presentation, service and food is totally worth the $$$ ..
Besides the food being amaaazzing our server, Hugo, was a joy and pleasure. I would always ask for him by name to be our server in the future!
Had a wonderful birthday experience at DaiLo. The staff are so professional and attentive. We got the Regualr Set Menu for 2 people and the food was incredible. My favourites were the Hakka Brown Wontons, Smoked Trout Pomelo Betel Leaf and Smoked Duck Bokkeum!!
Went with a group of friends and got the premium set course. And if you can, DO IT! Everything tasted amazing! 10/10
Most underwhelming dining experience in Toronto! My friend and I opted for Dailo s choice ($108 pp), and we wished after the second meal that we could opt out of it. To explain, none of the dishes were flavorful, or unique enough to justify the price. We were extremely disappointed in all of the dishes that we received. The service was so slow, and our waitress kept explaining that they are overbooked and shortstaffed. therefore, we kept getting drinks so other table wouldn t be empty, and by the time the food came, we were slightly full. Some of our dishes included the fried watermelon, the octopus taco, the beef carpaccio, the fried rice, and the duck. All of these dishes were underwhelming, and the flavors did not amalgamate well together. If anything, truffle was overused in some of the dishes and it overpowered the actual flavors. Mid meal, we noticed that other tables are receiving different dishes that to be honest, looked better than the ones we were receiving, so we asked our waitress about it, and she mentioned that we could ve specified which dishes we wanted in the beginning to be included in our choice. We were not informed of this, and we were only asked if we had any allergies. Had we known, maybe our experience would ve been different as we would ve specified which dishes we would like to try out. We even spoke to the tables next to us, and they also complained of the slow service and the lack of flavor in their meals. By the end, we left extremely disappointed and underwhelmed. Maybe it was the lack of staff and short service, or it was the fact that we were not told to indicate which dishes we would prefer, but this retaurant was not worth the +$400 bill at the end for 2 people. We had much higher expectations given the reviews. We gave it a 4/10 and we would not return or recommend our friends to go there.
Went here for the lunar year tasting menu. 10 courses + 2 deserts. Servers are very attentive and ask for any dietary restrictions/meal preferences in case you want to replace a dish. I replaced the Hakka wonton since I dont like shrimp that much. For the actual tasting menu, it started off to a great start. The first half of the dishes I felt were delicious and would give a 10/10, the 2nd half though I felt a decline. They reused the truffle sauce 3 times with the oyster&pearls, pumpkin dumplings, and lobster longevity noodles. Originally I loved the sauce but by the 3rd dish I wanted to try something new. My replacement dish for the Hakka wonton was a big mac bau. Very unique. Very fluffy, only thing is it taste exactly like a big mac haha very unique to try but the taste Ive had before. Gf had the Hakka dumplings and felt they were a bit on the salty side. Dessert was good with the aloe vera ice cream + fortune cake. The atmosphere is a bit more relaxed than I was expecting. We were sat downstairs at the high tables where the decor isnt great, and the chairs arent the most comfortable. When we were done we checked out the upstairs which had a much better environment. Request upstairs if youre doing the tasting - the high table chairs down stairs will hurt your butt if you sit there for a 2hour+ tasting. Overall it was a good but not great experience, would give it 4.3/5. 10+ courses often will cost closer to 200/p, but this came in at $113/p + tax/tip so it was a great price. Would definitely recommend this place, but there is room for improvement.
My mom and I always come back for the crispy octopus tacos and Burmese tofu. Every time we ve ordered of their specials menu, we have been blown away. So thrilled to have found Scarlett shrimp here from Morocco. Jeff was wonderful and provided warm and memorable service. Vietnamese coffee tiramisu was also a hit.
I got the vegetarian tasting menu and it was excellent. Food is very interesting, Asian with French inspiration. Everything I tried was delicious, though some dishes were a little sweet - actually majority were on the sweeter side which was unexpected. That said, still incredible and interesting flavors. Food had a kick but not too spicy which I liked. My favorite standout dishes were the pumpkin truffle dumplings and the Burmese tofu so good!! Sweet and spicy fried cauliflower also a standout. That said, a lot of the dishes were excellent and I really enjoyed the meal. The drink was also in incredible, I got the tom yum cocktail without gin (mocktail). Very complex and nuanced flavors, soo good!! One of the best cocktails/mocktails I ve had in Toronto. The tasting menu was technically 6 courses but actually 10 dishes it was a ton of food and very well priced for how much you get. I left stuffed and probably could have gotten some of the mains packed to go. Multiple dishes served at each course, felt like I tried the whole menu! And wonderful vegetarian subs that felt natural and well thought out, they also accommodated a regular meat tasting menu for my dining partner. Service was also excellent. I drink a lot of water and they refilled my glass every few minutes, extra vigilant. Probably the first restaurant I ve been to where I never had to ask for water. Waitress was also great, dishes described really well and personalized attention. I will say the ambiance was a little casual relative to how nice the food and service was, but still okay. Overall an excellent meal, probably one of my top 5 restaurants in Toronto and I ll definitely be back! Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options, they really accommodate
My wife and I have been wanting to try the premium tasting menu since the last time we came here, and thought tonight was the best occasion .. and it was better than we ever expected. There were so many dishes, each having their own unique flavours and experiences, and some in particular (the pumpkins dumplings for my wife and the lamb for me) that really made us take a moment and enjoy our experience. The drinks we ordered were also amazing (I don t remember the name of mine, but it had apricot, lemon and I believe VSOP brandy). And it all paired amazingly with the service from the staff, who were always very attentive and helped with explanations and recommendations for the dishes. In particular, Jeff was very inviting, engaging, and his recommendations of tea at the end of the night really rounded out the whole experience. Thanks for an amazing time!
Service was 10/10, food was great as well.
Went here for a birthday and got the chef s tasting menu. They were able to substitute dishes for one of us who was vegan which was great. The best dishes were the Tom Yum custard, the leaf dish, and the pumpkin dumplings. The rest of the dishes were not that impressive in our opinion. Overall, the restaurant shined in its service and is worth trying.
A culinary experience with some hits & many misses. Overall 3.5/5. Every bar for me is judged by its old fashioned and this one didn t long for another. The Tom Yum Breeze was pretty good and had a Thai coconut like flavour which was unusually nice for a cocktail. The Sleeping turtle, a decent cocktail. Overall bar was 3.5/5. In the food, the best dish was the pineapple dumplings which over exceeded our expectations - a simply outstanding dish. 12/10. The sweet & sour pork hock was crispy on the outside and melting / soft inside, another hit. 10/10 on the flavours. Unfortunately the main course was disappointing - The Singapore curry cauliflower was a slight let down but was not bad - 7/10. The truffle fried rice was poor - no real taste and they tried too much with it - 5/10. The Hainanese chicken was a real let down with no real flavour and relied heavily on the chilli oil + tomato paste - 3/10. By the end we were slightly overwhelmed and only tried a tiramisu - which surprised us as it had the right flavour of chocolate ganache and coffee but a over liquid top but was certainly great - 4.5/5.
My go-to place for a date night or a business meeting, they always take great care of every detail here. I recommend the chef s menu, make sure you bring an appetite, this isn t like most fine dining restaurants where you leave hungry!
Great restaurant and atmosphere! Servers gave great recommendations. We tried the cocktail, smoked duck and truffle fried rice. Everything was excellent!
Excellent everything - from the service to the presentation and taste of food, Dai Lo exceeds every expectation. Shout to Chef Nick Lui, can t wait to be back.
I went with a few friends to DaiLo and we shared most of our dishes. The food was tasty and the service was great. I love going to restaurants that explain the dishes when they put them down which DaiLo did during our time there. There were many other dishes I would try the next time I go but my favourites were the pork and shrimp wontons and the trout on the leaf
Amazing food and great ambience
We ordered the chefs menu. A great selection of dishes. They let us request certain ones we wanted to try and filled in the blanks. Good drinks, both cocktails and wine selection is on point. I was surprised by how much food there was. The final main (meat) dishes were generous portions and we could barely finish (table of four). One of the managers, Jeff, stopped by our table a couple of times and we had great conversation to understand the story of DaiLo and their philosophy. Lastly, the vibe is very relaxed and casual. I like places that are not too fancy and rather, allow the food to speak for itself. Weve been wanting to eat here for years and finally got around to it. It didnt disappoint
Best unique culinary experience with impeccable service! And decor with hand-painted walls. Plus cocktails top notch with unique liquors.
Institution in the city!
Food, service and atmosphere were amazing. I went with my husband and we really enjoyed our evening there.the bartender was also very helpful and made our evening.
My partner and I had the premium tasting menu and it was amazing! Every bite was perfect and the technique used to make the food was incredible. I highly recommend coming here.
Good experience
A phenomenal meal that l will go down as one of the best I have ever had. We were there to celebrate a special occasion and couldnt have asked for anything better. We were there for almost 2 hours, but service was wonderful and attentive throughout and the dishes in the tasting menu were all so unique and special. We arrived shortly after they opened on a weekday evening and the restaurant was pretty quiet. Because of that, Chef Liu came out and served us a bonus dish that ended up being our favourite of the night. Definitely made our experience a memorable one.
10/10 and Nik the bartender/server was amazing!
The chef selected tasting menu was very fun. Loved the pumpkin dumplings the best
The atmosphere here is really pleasant, and the decor caught my eye. This was my first dining experience at this establishment, so I decided to try the premium tasting menu. It was absolutely worth it. The dishes were both creative and delicious. I highly recommend the beef rib and wontons. Definitely a place to try! Dietary restrictions: Do accommodate dietary restrictions Parking: 5 min walk to parking garage
10/10 hospitality, out-of-this-world food! We had the tasting menu, and our faves were the dumplings, watermelon, soft-shell crab, and ribeye
Best restaurant I ve been in a while
The deconstructed pho was bizarre but awesome. It works. Hainanese chicken checks out. Great place and food
I had once again the pleasure of dining at DaiLo, and it was a culinary experience like no other. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. The restaurants ambiance was inviting, setting the stage for what was to come. We opted for the vegetarian tasting menu, and it was a decision we did not regret. Each dish was a masterpiece, showcasing a delightful blend of flavors and textures. However, the standout for us was the dumplings. These little pockets of joy were bursting with flavor, a true testament to the chefs skill and creativity. What sets DaiLo apart is their commitment to bringing unique and tasteful options to the table. Every dish was thoughtfully crafted, with a focus on bringing out the natural flavors of the ingredients. It was evident that the chef took extra care to ensure that each dish was not only delicious but also a feast for the eyes. Apart from the food, the service was impeccable. The staff went above and beyond to make our dining experience memorable. Dining at DaiLo was a gastronomic journey that I cant wait to repeat. If youre looking for a restaurant that offers delicious food, exceptional service, and a memorable dining experience, look no further!
We got the chef s choice menu and it did not disappoint. Everything was delicious and service was amazing.
Absolutely incredible meal experience. They spent a lot of time asking us about our preferences and made a custom menu for us and our different dietary restrictions. The food was absolutely amazing and it just kept coming. Cannot recommend enough.
First time trying Dailo because we have heard good things. We got the fried watermelon, octopus taco, pumpkin dumplings and the smoked duck. We thought the food was pretty good in general, but we did not really enjoy the smoked duck, it was just sweet and felt quite one dimensional in flavour. We didnt really understand that dish at all. We thought overall it was a really expensive meal, even though some dishes were good, it didnt feel worth as a whole. We wouldnt go back.
Personally, we found the dishes ordered were very sweet so we decided to leave Don t like the fried watermelon even if it sounds interesting. The taco is too salty ..
We went for Dailos Lunar New Year tasting menu and it did not disappoint! Each dish was packed with flavour and it was just the right amount of food. Dailo is one of our favourite restaurants in the city. Seriously underrated.
Overall it was enjoyable and the atmosphere is great for a date night. The pumpkin dumplings and the pork hock were standout and very unique. We werent a huge fan of the fried watermelon (felt like it was missing some flavours to pull it together). The fried trout was visually pleasing but didnt love the bready texture. However, the service is phenomenal, they really do their best to help you order and are flexible to customize.
Excellent flavourful food with a very good price point for a tasting menu of this quality in the city. Will definitely be going back
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here at Dai Lo! They were able to do the chef s selection menu entirely vegan (yay!!) - and every dish was delicious and unique! We were so full by the end of the courses - we even had to pack some to-go. Decor is Asian-themed chic and ambient, and their service was impeccable! They were very attentive and helpful, explained every dish, and made sure our waters were always full and our table was clean (they come by often to wipe off the crumbs / spills and change dishes for every new course). Will definitely come back! Vegetarian options: Many vegan options! Dietary restrictions: Their chef selection menu can be made entirely vegan!
Staff takes pride in their service and craft. Lovely layout and decor. Good for a few cocktails, would come back to try the food.
Everything is so good. 100% satisfaction
Went for my birthday. Definitely deserves all the praise that it gets. Loved the octopus tocos but everything on the tasting course was brilliant
The food is quite delicioso. The tacos, longevity noodles, and the duck were all beautifully plated and the flavours were so rich and balanced. $$$ as heck but you could see why.
Great place for cocktails and Philipino tapas. The pork belly was amazing. A must order.
Fantastic food and service. Very accommodating. Third time here and it s still fantastic.
Food is nice, but it should be at this price point. We got the degustation menu. Its meant to be a fusion restaurant, but we found that the fusion flavours didnt really work, and the best dishes were actually the traditional non-fusion ones. Rice crispies sprinkled on everything, why? Service was great, food was great, nice place to go if you feel like a splurge, just not world class or standout in any way, which I was expecting for the price.
Food underwhelming 3.7/5
Heard a lot about this place as I was searching for an elevated Asian place to try. They offer a la cart options as well as tasting menu options. We went with the a la cart option and ordered two mains (sharing for 2). We got the truffle Hainanese chicken and the smoked duck bokkeum. The chicken was the softest and tender chicken I ve ever had, I cannot see regular Hainanese chicken the same anymore, this dish is definitely on the more spicy side. The duck was also very juicy and tender, I enjoyed the potato salad and other vegetables that comes with it. This place definitely was worth the hype and the try if you re looking for some elevated Chinese cuisine!
The restaurant clearly prides itself on delivering a full experience. We enjoyed the tasting menu with the wine pairing. The servers take the time to explain each dish and the service was very good. Our favourites were the pumpkin dumplings and the truffle mashed potatoes, but it was all really good. It seemed like most people had the tasting menu. Be prepared to spend 2-3 hours for your meal.
Just get the tasting menu and let the wonderful people at this restaurant bring you all their best dishes, you will not be disappointed.
It doesnt get any better than this... high quality food and drinks.
We ordered the tasting menu. It was amazing! Such complex flavors. Hugo provided excellent service and was so personable. Great work team! We will be back.
Visited this place a while back, food was expensive and mediocre at best. Given the price point you d assume the service was at least nice, but nooooo the staff were somehow very cold and almost rude.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience, with special friends Who treated us to this unique restaurant. all our chefs plate items were made specific to suit our needs (chicken and fish ingredients) as we do not eat red meats. Would definitely go back :)
This place is amazing! The quality of food is heavenly, the staff is so attentive and knowledgeable and the atmosphere was warm. The tofu is a must!!! The taste and texture was such a lovely surprise, so wonderful
Food was honestly amazing
An amazing and one of a kind experience at DailLo. Always recommend doing the chef s choice option as it never disappoints! Our server was a delight to talk to and enjoyed every bit of discussions we had with her! One of my favourite restaurants to visit while in Toronto.
Tasting menu was amazing! Carnivore and vegetarian friendly. Great value for the quality of food and drinks. Our server Olivia was very knowledgeable and so friendly and welcoming!
Great Tasting Menu.
A truly remarkable dining experience, I think I said wow about 6 separate times
I had the Lunar New Year menu tasting (special for Chinese Lunar New Year) with the drink pairing. I want as a solo diner and they were so so attentive and lovely. Always checking in. I learned a lot about the different drinks that were paired with the food. There were around 12 courses and I was stuffed by the end of it. For the price you pay ($113) you get way more and Ive been to several other menu tastings. This was a fraction of the price. The drink pairing involved four glasses of wine, one glass of sake and three cocktails all for $88. So for those whose tolerance isnt the strongest that is a lot of drinks in a 2-3 hour period but regardless well worth it because in most places a cocktail itself costs $20. DaiLo has amazing staff with great food and they really are artisans in the culinary world. They really provide an elevated experience for a fraction of the price you would get anywhere else in the world. I could go on and on.
Great food and service. Would recommend for date night or celebratory outing!
We tried the Lunar New Year tasting menu ($113pp) with add on of Hainan chicken rice and if I can say, probably 1/3 of those dishes are 10/10, 2/3 of the dishes are a 7 and the remainder being a 6. Favorites: Potato espuma, fried watermelon, oysters and pearls. - all happened to be appetizers. Least favorite: The mains which were steamed fish. The fish needed more scaling and deboning. Although sauce and cooking was good, the fish prep is rather unacceptable at this price point. Hainan Chicken Rice ($50) was also rather lackluster. There is nothing Hainanese about this dish. The chili was rather bland, the rice has no chicken aroma at all, I also wanted to say that the Truffle with sesame sauce combo that are present in many dishes is great but I think its somewhat overused in too many dishes. Service was exemplary with each food being explained and being very attentive. Overall, a good dining experience but there are definitely room improvements.
Love DaiLo, always the best time
Shared the chefs tasting menu tonight with a friend. It was so delicious there were portions I did not want to share, but at the end there was so much food. It could ve fed an extra person. When I walked in, I didn t think this was my type of restaurant, I m a very plain and simple woman. The food - spectacular The service - outstanding I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone! This is also my first Google review, it s not my thing. But I really felt like they earned it..
I came in with high hopes but I was disappointed to say the least. The appetizers were great, very generous amount of truffles on everything esp for this price point But The main course was SO disappointing. A over cooked fried fish with absolutely no taste at all paired with fried rice that s too salty too sweet and too sour at the same time. Like I get they are supposed to be eaten together but it s still too much man Dessert was also a very disappointing aloe Vera sorbet. Which literally just taste like frozen aloe Vera juice. Not very impressive and not a great way to end this premium tasting menu Also I have to mention that the white guys sitting to our left AND to our right both got their tables cleaned when they needed it. Meanwhile we just suffered through all the crumps and soup drips all over the table this entire time. And the white guys that ordered the same tasting menu as us got more courses than us. Like they literally got double the amount of desserts. I don t wanna be point any fingers or making the accusation but I definitely felt like I WAS TREATED LEASER THAN ALL THE WHITE PEOPLE AROUND ME. Which is literally the last thing I wanted when I happily went to a hip Chinese restaurant
Best tasting menu Ive had. I would give 7/5 if I could. In terms of quality, the food was on par with the best tasting menus Ive had. It was perfectly balanced, and lots of umami flavours combined with many other elements. Lots of new things Ive never tried but also with recognizable roots and nostalgia. What sets this apart in terms of pure food from other tasting menus Ive had is that Ive never managed to experience this level of food quality, execution, and creativity at the top notch level with east Asian flavours. This was truly a first for me that I will cherish for a long time. Other than the food, the service was also honestly even better than other places Ive been to. The timing on all the dishes was spot on: one dish finished, and in a few minutes the next arrived. Yet, we were never rushed throughout the night, just promptly and carefully attended to. Servers were friendly and the right level of conversational. Highly recommend this place. Ill be coming back. Also, the incorporation of truffle without going overboard with it was amazing.
Tried the premium tasting course because this restaurant got a lot of really rave reviews but ended up disappointed for what we got. Their website states to be predominantly Chinese fare but it follows the French tradition. but at the premium tasting course we received tom yum custard, Vietnamese phaux beef carpaccio and 90 day dry age khao soi (mainly Thai or Viet dishes). The only Chinese dish I can derive is the pumpkin dumpling with truffle but even that is a stretch. The foods werent always balanced or it wasnt cohesive as a course. They relied heavily on truffles to carry the flavour of the dish for like 4 out of 10 dishes that we received. Of the ones we were served, I enjoyed the tom yum custard, bonito potato espuma, and pumpkin dumpling with truffle. The misses or average dishes included octopus taco, smoked salmon betel leaf, fried watermelon, phaux beef carpaccio, scarlet prawn with shrimp toast, and 90 day dry age beef khao soi (where the curry overpowered the texture and flavour of the dry age beef). Overall for the premium tasting course at $130 per person, you would expect each dish to be a hit and a banger but what I got was a mixed bag of hit or misses. Will definitely not come back anytime soon.
Amazing experience, because of my intolerance to fresh peppers (Any type), which are a staple in their recipes, they accommodated the whole tasting menu (we got the premium one) around it and we were not disappointed. 100% worth every penny for the experience, the presentation, the professionalism and the friendliness of the staff and every single thing was azong in taste, texture and inventiveness! Definitely recommended for any special occasion, an unforgettable experience!
Idk why this place has such high reviews, braise pork and pumpkin dumps were extreamly sweet (sweeter than any dessert you could imagine) and fried rice had no wok or fried flavour. Tasteless. XO sauce was too salty and oily. Cocktails and service were ok
After trying a la cart, came back to an Incredible tasting menu. One of the best I have had anywhere in the world...amazing flavours that balance throughout the course. Recommend the dumplings, egg noodles, duck, pretty much everything.
Got their premium tasting menu. Service was excellent, food was delicious. the pork hock and fried watermelon were an absolute hit. I thought to myself that their sauce station must be absolutely crazy. Was served like 7 different sauces. Honestly it could do without a couple of them, especially towards the end.
Overall great experience. We had the premium chef s choice and the food was pretty good. Service was one of the best I ve had. They were attentive, friendly and accommodating. As someone growing up eating Chinese food, it was very interesting to see how flavours and traditional dishes could be elevated. There were some outstanding dishes and some that were a little too familiar. If you like strong flavours you ll have a good time. One star off as I found it to be a little expensive for the environment and food. Chefs choices are a different and unique to each table, pulled from the main menu (premium chefs choice has some off menu dishes). If there s anything you really want to try mention it to the waiter.
We had the premium tasting menu sitting at the bar. Unexpectedly, the bartender knew every single thing about the food we were having, even though he was not the one serving it to us. The wine pairing alongside the tasting menu was incredible, and Ben paired cocktails from their diverse cocktail menu perfectly to each course for me on the fly. Hands down, one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Thank to you to the chef, bar manager, FOH, and everyone involved. Dietary restrictions: They will adapt their tasting menu to dietary restrictions.
The food is tasty but the portions are ridiculous. We were offered an off the menu item: prawn cooked in Moroccan way, 75$ is supposed to be for two people. It was literally 2 bites. I m not kidding. It felt like being robbed. We were told the prawn is the size of a lobster. It was just a regular jumbo prawn the size of half a tail of an average lobster. We ordered 2 plates for the table and were absolutely speechless when we got 2 bites size per plate. Everything else was tasty but tiny portions. The ambiance was quiet but far from fancy. The table was wobbly and it was average. The service was top notch. The number of employees I counted on site was over 10 within my eye sight. The service was quick as well. The menu in the restaurant was a bit different than the one on the website, less items since the website had the summer menu!
Delicious and beautifully presented!
I absolutely love this place. Its my favourite restaurant of all time. Tasting menu is always amazing. Dumplings and wantons are always 11/10, but honestly just every bite of every course was stellar tonight. Special shout out to the new cocktails that were all perfectly balanced and top notch. Service was also just so on point. Always is. They tell you exactly what youre eating with lots of fun history. Nick was super friendly and didnt miss a beat. Specific notes about the new dishes... the mushroom momo and the tiramisu are both absolute fire. Delicious.
2 of us both got the tasting menu which came with about 8 dishes. We really liked that they ask what items off the menu you wanted to be included in the tasting so they could work them in. The best dishes were the dumplings; they were amazing. We would go back but it was extremely expensive so only for a special occasion. The staff were also friendly and made good suggestions.
This was one of the most delicious and fun meals I ve ever had. The tasting menu was a uniquely wonderful tasting exploration. The tiramisu finale is the one of the best desserts I ve ever had. This place has love and soul in all the dishes. The music was really cool as a bonus.
I wrote before about this place, we come here, my wife more than me, every so often, the food taste always quite good, service is fine, pretty standard with what you find around nowadays (the waiters, all of them here, are talking forever, especially when they bring you the food that you ordered a few minutes before re-explaining the whole recipes, it must be from the owner.... Most likely i know what i ordered 10 min ago, a simple name of the items will suffice without too much interrupt of the table conversation) beside that, like i said great food, atmosphere is fine, often quute loud but thats most on customers fault, the prices are the Achille talon here, i would come here more often if prices where more reasonable.
Amazing experience. Great atmosphere.
The tasting menu was soooooo delicious !! They even adjusted some dishes to accomodate my preferences. I will definitely go back!
