The menu focuses on Aburi Sushi as well as fresh seafood, respecting the natural flavours of the ingredients while adding a signature Aburi twist.
Absolutely recommend the miso soup, Brussels sprouts spicy edamame and to satiate your appetite the sablefish which was created in association with the Michelin star chef. The fish was tender and cooked for all peeps not wanting raw but tender meat this is for you. The miso soup was so fresh and a true appetite opener like you can tell from the way the soup sediments if you’re not actively engaging with the bowl that it’s fresh. Place has a great vibe and the staff constantly tend to a person’s water glass like we do it in Asia. That’s how you know the place is worth your bucks! Good place to go to with your team or friends and colleagues. Hope you love it too. ~GoExplore
Wow just phenomenal! The food was really good, fresh and unique! Ordered the 7 course combo plus two rolls. Everything was spectacular! The ambience, food, service all 10/10 can’t wait to go back, thank you to all the staff for hosting my wife and I to a special evening
Enjoyed the dinner in a casual business manner. The dishes are authentic (tried almost all the dishes with Michelin Chef collaboration) and very creative and special. The service is amazing and it could be a place for business for family for some celebrations:) Ume Sour Squid is a little bit too sour but very special though😁
I ordered the 4 course set menu and it was delicious. I especially like the platter with 9 different types of sushi. Three stars because the service was incredibly slow. It took a while just to even order our first drinks. At one point we had ordered additional dishes, but they took so long to come that we had lost all momentum and I personally would have just cancelled my order in favour of grabbing the bill. Our server also kept getting interrupted/distracted by what appeared to be the manager. I personally much prefer Miku in Vancouver. The several times I have been there, we have always had attentive service and the view and atmosphere are excellent.
Bomb sushi! This place had melt in your mouth good dishes. They had a few things that I've not tried in the US. It was a nice fresh take on sushi. They do lunch and dinner menus that vary. I had lunch both times and was not disappointed. Definitely give this place a shot if you're in the area.
A very nice experience at Miku. Amazing service, presentation and delicious food. I had Miso Soup, Ebi Fritters and Sashimi lunch which was so fresh tasting. It was paired with some sides such as Salmon tartare and a bowl of rice. For dessert I had the Green Tea Opera with a cappuccino which were lovely.
Went in for a business dinner. We had the late summer kaiseki set menu. The food presentation was great as usual, but the menu choices & quantities didn't impress most of our group members given the steep price tag. We have had much better meals at Miku before. The restaurant setting is simple & elegant.
Amazing and romantic restaurant!! Best Japanese restaurant I have been to. I have always seen this restaurant when I go to Harbour Front and always wanted to try it. I'm so glad I did! We didn't have a reservation but we managed to get in on a Saturday night after a ten minute wait. We parked at the bank underground parking which is the same building this place is in. The food is very delicious. It's fancy and unique. The oysters were delicious. Presentation of food is a 10/10. The waiters are incredibly educated about their menu and ingredients. The atmosphere is definitely a romantic and elegant aura. Perfect for couples, which you will find a good amount of there for dinner. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves Japanese food.
Really good Japanese restaurant and even better that its connected to the Path!
Sour squid is amazing. Oshi is mind blowing. Opera cake is oh my god. Highly recommended.
A famous aburi (seared) sushi restaurant in downtown Toronto. Serving good creative sushi and Japanese dishes. Good service and atmosphere too.
The seafood was fresh. Aburi Salmon and sashimi were good but the scallop carpaccio had sauce that was too sweet and covered the freshness of the scallop itself. Service: the coat check guy was super nice and for that I will give one star. Our server deserves 0 stars overall. He was insanely rude and ignored us throughout the night. To be honest, I expected way better for the price point. Save the money and go somewhere else SMH
Food was delicious. Main disappointment was the service was insanely slow. We ordered just an entrée + dessert and were at the restaurant for 3hours.
We went for a birthday dinner and really enjoyed an amazing tasting menu, each dish better than the last! Our server, Hain, was excellent- attentive but not hovering. A fantastic experience in every way- highly recommend!
Amazing sushi experience!
Ive been dining at Miku for over 10 years, at least 20-30 times, and always loved the flavors. However, I started noticing a slight decline in quality a few months ago with their takeout orders. Despite this, I kept coming back until today. To summarize: I will never dine at Miku again. I ordered the Sashimi Plate and the Signature Sushi Set. Since the ingredients overlapped significantly, I ll review them together. First, the tuna had visible blood spots, a stringy texture, and a mushy consistency with a strong fishy taste. The spot prawn, which used to be firm and sweet, was now small, bland, and had a soggy texture like it had been soaked in water. The aburi sushi was disappointing the fish was dry, tough, and far from fresh. Several other fish pieces I haven t mentioned were also unpleasantly fishy with no natural sweetness or flavor. In the end, I couldn t finish the sashimi or the aburi oshi sushi it was simply too disappointing to continue eating. Most of it went to waste. This was an extremely disappointing dining experience.
This is one of my favourite sushi restaurants in the city. However, the service was slow during this visit as they seemed under staffed. The food is as usual on point and delicious.
Best japonese Restaurant in toronto- amazing creations and a wonderful staff! We ll be back as we travel one more Time to Toronto
Nothing special in my opinion, I liked the Vancouver location because you had the waterfront views but here it was just a view of Scotiabank haha. Service wasn t very good they got the spicy edamame order wrong twice (first time they missed the order and it took forever to come even though we had ordered it first for the table to start before the other apps, second time they forgot the spicy flakes), and the rice on the sushi was kind of soggy I don t eat premium often but I ve had better torched sushi from Japanese fish markets and/or even sushi takeout restaurants. It was not worth the price for me. The place is aesthetically nice in terms of interior and ambiance to an extent but service & food quality isn t on par. I liked my espresso martini though. I d rather come here for drinks over food, but I also don t really see myself coming here (it s kind of out of the way and a whole trek by the highway just for Japanese) again. Also, it took forever to get our food and then also our bill. We even had someone text us and ask if we were STILL at dinner lol (we were there from 6:30 and didn t leave/pay our bill till almost 9:30pm, that s three hours?!?!). Service was pretty inattentive lol.
We did the 7 course fall testing menu at it was absolutely amazing. So well presented and so many different flavours!
Did the mothers day lunch and it was incredible. Third time at miku and it never disappoints. Best sushi Ive ever had and the Tahitian vanilla bean cheesecake is a 10/10. Also their mocktails are surprisingly good! Recommended if youre not a big drinker or dont drink alcohol at all.
Okay let me start by saying that the sushi is excellent and the waiters were very welcoming. But there are 3 reasons I unfortunately won t be coming back here: 1. I told them I had a shellfish allergy, but I was served a sushi platter with prawn on it. They promptly returned to the kitchen and came back to me. I could see it was the same plate however and that it hadn t been changed, so I asked them if it was the same plate as before and they said yes, which isn t great seeing as I told them I have an allergy. 2. There was an eyelash on my sushi. It s expensive sushi, so not exactly ideal to pull an eyelash off my tuna. 3. The atmosphere is not good. It s hard surfaces everywhere and is incredibly loud and echoey. Made it difficult to enjoy my meal.
The food got a little more expensive than before but the quality is just as same as before. Just wish i walk out of my financial crisis so i can return for the full menu.
The whole experience was insane! Food was 10/10, such a good quality and paired with an amazing service and beautiful Ambiente!
The sushi is good but quality is inconsistent when ordering for delivery. The california roll sometimes has shredded crab, sometimes its whole..sometimes with mayo and sometimes without. Ideally what is delivered would consistently match the site s description. The rice was undercooked on the most recent order which was disappointing given the $$$.
We had the Aburi Oshi Sampler and the Sushi selection. The ingredients were high-quality and they were tastefully put together. The service was attentive and the restaurants decor is very nice.
Miku is a beautiful restaurant with great service. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable. While some of the sushi dishes was tasty, I found the overall food experience to be just okay. The seafood platter was the highlight of the meal. If youre looking for a special occasion spot with great service, Miku is a good choice, but the food itself may not wow you, it might just be a personal preference but others may find the food here impressive.
Authentic Japanese cuisine for sure. I just came from Japan and this is for sure on par
Incredibly disappointing. I hosted a private dinner in here, which was acceptable. What was horrible was afterwards -- some weirdo asked for my bill and Miku gave it to him! The person did not even attend the dinner. I know how ridiculous this sounds writing it out. When I contacted Miku about it, they blamed their credit card processing company (even though the email was through Miku) and then just ignored me.
Came here for a birthday dinner, it was quiet on a sat night and located in a building.. We decided to order a few items of our liking instead of the tasting menu. Starting off with a lychee martini & vino , miso soup, hamachi crudo..Im not sure what it was called but it was the torched sampler, with mackarell and shrimp the salmon was the best. everything was so orginal and delicious. I definitely recommend the miku roll, it was soooo delicious!! We ended with the cholate fondant and it missed the mark for me but everything else was so special I wasnt mad about it.
Miku delivers on presentation and ambiance, but overall, it falls short when it comes to value. The sushi, while visually stunning and intricately crafted, doesn t quite match the high expectations set by its premium pricing. The inclusion of elements like gold foil feels like an attempt to elevate the dish s appeal without actually improving the core flavors. The signature aburi-style sushi is enjoyable, but portions are small, and the flavor profiles, while good, aren t exceptional compared to other sushi spots at a lower price point. For what you pay, it feels like more of an aesthetic experience rather than a true culinary one, making it a poor value for those who prioritize quality and authenticity over luxury trimmings. If you re willing to spend for the name and experience, it s fine, but for sushi purists, there are better options in Toronto.
It is not worth it. I spent $500 but I had small food with long waiting.
The service and the atmosphere were great. Food was fresh but with that price point I expected better. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. I recommend the Miku roll and Ikura nigiri.
The food and atmosphere was great for my business lunch.
Delicious
The sashimi are so fresh and delicious! Plum wine is great too.
Excellent spot for a small lunch meeting with delicious plates that could be shared!
I love their aburi and specialty rolls! Also their green tea cake was sooo good, my husband wasn t really a fan of green tea but he loved it! Will come back for sure!
We had our group business lunch at Miku and was at private room. Private room was bit noisy when a group of people were interacting. Service was excellent, but the food... incredible!!! One of the best Japanese food Ive had. Presentation of the food was very neatly done. So, huge congrats to their chefs. It was $70 per person, which I believe was an incredible deal for what we had. Definitely coming back next time Im in Toronto~
This was my first time at Miku and I m so impressed. The chef created an incredible plant-based tasting menu that is one of the best, if not the best, meals I ve ever had. Thank you Song and Kevin for making this such a special experience (and for keeping the birthday celebration low key!)
Dined here before a concert at the ACC since it s so close. Our server was great about getting us out on time. The signature aburi sushi was good but the fish seemed a bit thin. The sable fish was nice and meaty but temperature wise wasn t very hot. Brussels sprouts with pork belly could render the fat from the fatty pork.
Beautiful but pricey
Best sushi I have EVER had!! Melt in your mouth fish it was soooo fresh! Worth every penny!
Absolutely incredible sushi here. So much so, I nearly forgot to take a photo of them while eating! Between their sweet and regulay soy sauce, torched sushi and homemade ics cream, you know this place is fancy! The flavours of the sushi melt in your mouth and everything is presented so well! The service was especially top notch! The waiters were enthusiastic, and you know its good food when they explain all details of it when they serve it to you!
Enjoyed a fabulous birthday dinner with my wife. Service was impeccable and our server was professional, courteous and knowledgeable. It was a wonderful experience. Well worth it for the delicious tasting menu!
Like Minami, I come for the main dishes and not the sushi and like the sister restaurant it doesnt disappoint. Always get the sablefish. Interesting desserts as well.
Best Sushi I ever had, if you like Sushi, then you should definitely try this restaurant!!
Popped by for a summerlicious lunch to get an idea of what theyre working with at Miku. The sashimi platter was pretty good, highlighting some further afield cuts of fish than the average sushi joint. The aburi nigiri were imaginative and had really enjoyable combinations of seafood and sauce/toppings. And to finish it off the opera cake was tasty and an exquisite balancing act of all its varied layers. Ill be back for a more expansive slice of their offerings at some point.
Don t usually post reviews. Completely disappointed by the overall experience. Including the food.. that was the worst part. The only saving grace was our server. He was nice, polite etc. The menu tried to be elevated but the quality clearly was just not there.
Foods good. Shockingly long wait time 50min for a 25$ cocktail then we waited another 15min for the appetizer. The fish is raw so like, cut it up and put it on the plate. Lets go. They should get rid of the 4 tables at the front that share the office buildings bright lighting and where they keep delivery bags for takeout drivers to fumble around with. Theres other places to go.
For service experience only: on a Monday, we arrived at 4:30 pm and started with just drinks as we were not hungry. Later when we were ready to order we were told that we could only stay till 6:30 pm. The restaurant was empty. There was no any effort from the waiter even trying to make their night a bit busier. Will not come back or recommend to others.
Kaiseki was great
Five stars to the experience, and 10 stars to Hein for his awesome service. We definitely would like to come and try different menus here. The whole night was much better than we expected.
Enjoyable place for fine Japanese food. I personally expected a true sushi place with big maki rolls, but that wasnt it. Besides that, all was quite tasty (4 out of 5 stars) and amazingly prepared. All recommended specialties were also pretty good but smallish for my purpose))). In the end, we had the chocolate mousse however it was more like a smooth cream rather being airy. I believe it is a place to sit and enjoy culinary treats and fabulous-fabulous service, so Id recommend it for all special occasions!
Took 2 hours to be served the summer tasting menu. Came at 715. Left after 9 pm. The servers were really apologetic. Small portions so spent a lot of time waiting, We left hungry. restaurant is very loud, couldn t hear the serves explaining the food.
Easily the best sushi in Toronto with great service and extensive saki list. Highly recommend the aburi salmon.
yummy in my tummy, but price has gone up significantly
Very good experience of Japanese gastronomy. The mixture of different ingredients in the dishes gives an excellent taste. Very good welcome and service. On the other hand, the price of the wagyu dish is quite high compared to the quantity.
Flavour is all over the map. The food here is ok. Definitely plenty more to explore in the city that have more to offer.
Had a great dinner at Miku with a group of friends. Miku is definitely a high end restaurant and on the pricier side but honestly it has overdelivered to my expectations. I would recommend it to go there to celebrate on special occasions or to have an exceptional meal. It s a great seafood restaurant!
The food and service was spectacular
Served me actual, and straight up raw chicken. Like red. They didn t charge for it, but at this price point, feels like that was the absolute minimum. I ate raw chicken. I would not eat here again, and there are better places. Akira bak a good alternative.
So good the best sushi I have ever had ! No soya sauce needed here the savoury taste is amazing !
Great experience, food 10/10. We came for a business group dinner and they put us in the private dining room. Service was great, a bit pricey but everyone enjoyed it.
Miku was an experience that truly meant a lot to me. It was a moment in time that took me back in my journey only to be cherished three years later. Loved the staff, the food was delicious not the best of best but definitely a great quality to come back for, I truly appreciate the unique menu and the creative power of the atmosphere that totally keeps one wanting to come back for more. A gem in a sense that I would have as one of my favourite Toronto Japanese restaurant.
This place is fire. Quality, price, and consistency. We have been coming here every time we visit Toronto and they just don t disappoint. They match the quality of some of the best sushi places in NYC, but for about half the cost (thanks in part to the exchange rate). Highly recommend.
Stopped in for a birthday lunch and it was tremendous. The service was incredible and super friendly and inviting. The food was amazing. Those brussel sprouts were out of this world.
Sashimi condition was overall average as some kinds were super fishy... Otoro nigiris and deep-fried shrimp heads were the best If you have the shrimp sashimi that comes with the head, then they offer to fried the heads when you asked to be cleared if they told us before, we couldve left it in better shape lol Staff seems well trained and knowledgeable The best to be were yuzu dessert & otoro! Matcha chocolate was more like, matcha briefly passed by the chocolates house lol - very light in matcha. Its if you like chocolate
Absolutely top notch aburi and sashimi. Very complex flavours. We sat near the window and I got a bit distracted and taken out of the atmosphere by the tv screens playing a soccer game in the back.
Had the summerlicious lunch at Miku and had mixed feelings leaving the restaurant. While the service was great, I didn t find the quality of food justifying the high price tag. Ordered the Miku Zen, Aburi set, and green opera for dessert. The salmon in the Miku zen was probably the worst part of the meal, it was super dry and the wasabi sauce was really overpowering. The rest of the set was okay, and I did really like the maguro tartare. Aburi plate is typical for what you can expect at a higher end Japanese place, but I found the sauces for the oshi to be a bit too creamy. The rice used for the sushi also wasn t great and was hard and broke apart pretty easily. The dessert was good and I enjoyed it a lot. Would probably come back to try a la carte instead of summerlicious.
My husband and I s favorite sushi spot in Toronto. We have been to almost every Sushi Spot and Miku won the number one sushi! I love their Miku Roll and Aburi Salmon!
some of the best sushi Ive ever eaten. the miso is good. a must if dining
Very disappointing experience yesterday dinning here for lunch. We ordered the Kaisen Soba Peperoncino which is supposed to include prawns, squid and mussels. There were no mussels and only two prawns and two very small pieces of squid. We did enquire about the missing mussels and mentioned the lack of seafood, and although the waitress apologized and said the kitchen made a mistake we were not given the missing seafood nor were we discounted.
Tasty sushi place. Service was impeccable. It is a high end restaurant so it is on the pricey side though.
Came for summerlicious, will be returning! The Aburi sushi is so good, and the desserts are incredible.
This place is a gem! If you want to taste authentic high level Japanese food, this is the place you must go. I went for my anniversary and they gave us a lovely dessert with a Happy Anniversary message
The summer s menu its fantastic!
everything delicious, especially the summerlicous, the UNBEATABLE service!
Great summerlicious offering. Premium Nigiri, sable fish and mango sorbet. And our server was awesome, offering a complimentary sample of sake so we can compare with the bottle of sake we ordered.
We came here for Summerlicious. The restaurant was almost full but there were a lot of room between tables. Atmosphere was not bad but no wow factor. The miso soup was very hot. Our appetizers were excellent. The sashimi were the highest quality. Their wasabi was freshly prepared. The Miku Zen had 4 small dishes and each one was not small. The tartrate was my favorite. The sushi main course was pretty good. The poke bowl was okay. It was a little dry. A bit more sauce would be nice. The green tea opera was delicious. Too bad it was a little small. Their latte was pretty good too. We were pretty full at the end. Service was excellent. A mandatory tip of 20% was added to the bill.
Great food, service and cocktails. Expensive but we knew that going in.
Amazing food, great cocktails and Sake perfect for a special dinner. Our waitress was amazing and the food runners presented the food with great explanations. The only downfall was when our host led us to the table dropped the menu on the ground and put it back on out table. To me that is unheigenic and gross I was surprised the host did that at such a nice restaurant.
One of our favourite places when we visit Toronto. However last nights experience was a major let down. One of our plates wasnt delivered and when we asked the server about it she gaslit us and said she saw it on the table. We reiterated no we didnt get it, she repeated that we did, we insisted we didnt, then she said shed check with the kitchen. She came back and said sorry it was made but sent to another table. Interesting how she saw it on our table then? In my experience something like this would lead to the dish or something being comped but nothing was offered. *update 4 months later. Manager emailed shortly after the initial review to enquire about our experience. I described when we were there, etc, and then never heard back from them. This tells me there is no assurance the next experience will be better.
After trying to Oshi sushi from Miku in Vancouver, we also went to try the same here and compare quality. Pretty similar taste and freshness. Note miku Toronto has a different management than miku vancouver. Miku Toronto is less known and less celebrated for sure. I do think the oshi sushi is worth a shot!
Expensive but great food. 5 STARS
This restaurant is one of my top 5 favourite restaurants.
Have always wanted to try Miku but have received varying feedback. Finally tried it during Summerlicious this year. What lived up to the hype was their aburi sushi. If you want the good stuff, eat this at Miku and the sister restaurants. It is priced high because it tastes good. Nothing else compares. Sashimi was also extremely fresh, comparable in quality to the sashimi in Vancouver. Where the points came off are below... Their cooked dishes were a sore miss on this visit. Salmon was extremely overcooked in the appetizer. The salmon poke chirashi had 4 to 5 different salmon options in one but I would almost describe the textures as elevated cat foods. Sorry for the harsh imagery but keeping it simple and cooked properly would have been a better choice. This restaurant also has tasting menu options that run in the $185 range so I was a bit surprised to see that many of the tables had visible chip marks on the side. Opera cake was a very small portion. Tasted like a very good matcha KitKat. Worth a try but not my personal favorite. Hopefully the restaurant will spruce up the deco, happy to visit again for their signature items on a special occasion. At $55 for summerlicious, it is good value and Im happy to put up with some imperfections.
Went in without a reservation a couple months ago and had the tasting course with a friend. I also ordered the wine/drink pairings, my friend just ordered a single cocktail. I do have to say this makes for an expensive meal coming in around $250-300 depending on if you get the drink pairings Everything was fantastic and I was incredibly full and satisfied by the end of my meal. The service was great as well. The atmosphere was a bit underwhelming. Seated at the high top tables you can essentially see the full dining area and while there was still a fair number of diners while we were there the restaurant somehow felt empty (for the lack of a better word).
Me and my father visited Miku today as he was visiting me from China and he s leaving in a couple days. It s his idea and I thought why not I made a reservation before entering the restaurant. Though it s not necessary, I wanted to reserve a table in case something unexpected happened. Nothing did, which was great When I first looked at the menu, I was feeling suspicious as I didn t think the price was fair. I was also wondering whether or not I should proceed with my order. I even wondered if I belonged there or not as I never went to this kind of restaurant before in my life We ordered the salmon Oshi Sushi. It came with four pieces per order so we ordered two, 8 pieces in total. It tasted wonderful, I liked the taste As you can see from the first picture, we ordered salmon, lots of them The fish in the picture tasted fresh, very fresh. I loved the taste and I loved how much I enjoyed eating them Another aspect I liked, the waiter talked about the history of the food every time a food came up. As a person who cherishes experience, I liked it and I found it to be helpful. I mean I would ve ate the food regardless but it s always nice knowing the history Our waiter was nice. She was friendly and patient. Not over the top, but not rude in any way. I didn t need any special treatment, I didn t care about it anyways I also loved the matcha latte. Wish it was sweeter but it tasted good. Dessert too The lean tuna was nice too Expensive, but food is nice, we ordered a lot as it wasn t fulfilling but in the end both me and my father enjoyed ourselves In total, it costed us 290 plus tax. It s expensive for sure but once in a while we need to treat ourselves
Very high quality of service and food Kid-friendliness: No problem having children at your table Food : 5/5 |
The service is amazing and attentive. The server knew her sake and wines as well as the food palette really well. The food was good but a bit on the pricier side for this type. Going to a Omakase might be more worth for the same price range.
Im very happy that Miku is just as good now as I remember it being the first time I tried it. While some other Toronto restaurants have now matched their quality, that isnt a bad thing at all. This time, I came for a business lunch, and we got great feedback from our guests from out of town. We tried a number of things, including the tried and true Oshi Sushi. The lunch menu was quite limited - I do wish there were more options, especially from an appetizers perspective. In fact, when I look at the latest menu online, Im pretty sure theres a chunk missing! It made ordering a bit trickier, as we wanted to share dishes. We ordered the Hamachi Crudo ($25), Hotate Crudo ($26), Miku Select ($38), and a Aburi Oshi Sampler each ($10.50). I was a big fan of the crudos - both had a very unique flavour and werent repetitive at all. The Aburi Oshi Sampler was great for everyone at the table to try. I did feel like the Miku Select was a bit awkward for sharing, its more of an individual sampling platter. It does seem worth it though, and a good option for people not sharing. For dessert, we ordered the Green Tea Opera ($17) and Mango Mochi Dome ($16). For $17, I felt the Green Tea Opera was a bit small - I remember it being bigger! I also wasnt the biggest fan of the Mochi Dome, but the other guests enjoyed it. I think it reminded me too much of a marshmallow texture. Overall the food was amazing as always. The service was a bit slow at times, especially when we wanted to order dessert and get the bill.
Very sauce based sushi, interesting combinations though I would look elsewhere if I am looking for an authentic Japanese sushi experience.
The sushi nigiri oysters dessert and sake were exceptional! The service was impressive. Thank you Miku. See you next time
Great service and Mango mochi was soooo good!!!
We ordered the Hotate Crudo for an app; the Salmon, Ebi, and Saba Oshi Sushi; Miku Roll; Green Tea Opera and Valrhona Dark Chocolate Fondant for dessert; and an Okinawa Punch. The Hotate Crudo was delicious and unique the cauliflower/miso dashi sauce paired well with the scallops, which was a nice and light appetizer overall. The ratio of rice to fish for the Oshi Sushi is a little disappointing as the fish is very thin and there is a thick layer of rice. The sauces on the Salmon and Ebi Oshi were overpowering so you could not taste the actual fish itself. Same experience with the sauce on the Miku Roll. The dessert was delicious. The signature Green Tea Opera has seven layers the hazelnut layer can be overpowering and prevent you from tasting the other layers (though I personally didnt mind since I love hazelnut). The Valhrona Dark Chocolate Fondant was not as hot as I would have liked, but all the components (fondant, hojicha cream, jasmine jelly, roasted berries, jasmine ice cream) paired/harmonized well together. The Okinawa Punch (zero proof drink) was refreshing recommend to drink quickly as the ice waters it down over time. Overall a nice place to visit for a date or special occasion. The Hotate Crudo and dessert hit the wow factor for us, whereas the Rolls and Oshi Sushi did not (good, but not amazing).
Great experience
Visited Miku for the first time tonight, and might have a new favourite high end sushi restaurant. Had the sushi tasting menu paired with drinks, and it was perfect. Inventive dishes and combinations of very high quality ingredients that I haven t had before. It is not cheap, but I think very much worth it.
I recently visited Miko Japanese Restaurant in Toronto. The food was fine, with decent flavors and presentation. The staff stood out for their training and attentiveness, and I appreciated how they introduced each dish in detail. The restaurant was quite busy during lunch, with all tables full. Despite the crowd, the service remained efficient and friendly. Overall, it was an enjoyable dining experience.
Totally recomended
Perhaps the best scallops Ive ever eaten.
Ive dined here numerous times and the food is always exceptional and the service too. Highly recommend!!
My favourite aburi oshi place in Toronto! I always get the salmon oshi when Im there and its never disappointed. This time I tried their special appetizers as well, loved both the hotate crudo and Wagyu carpaccio as well!
The presentation of the food was stunning! Beautiful ambience and amazing service!
I really enjoyed the dine in and the takeout experience! I had loads of questions because it was my first time and the staff were a great help!
Best sushi experience I ve ever had. The salmon oshi sushi was really flavorful and fatty belly tuna nigiri was tasty. The dessert was well presented and refined. Service was amazing and the servers walked you through exactly what you were eating.
Thanks Lee
It is one of the best places for authentic sushi in Toronto. Amazing service with great food. Tried their Salmon Oshi Sushi, Miku Roll and Kyoto Saikyo Miso Sablefish and all of them were mouth-watering good!
had an amazing time at Miku! the food and service were 10/10
Food is not up to mark and staff behaviour is not good
Hosting is poor
Unprofessional staff
First visit: Came for a snack. Had six pieces of the hamachi (yellowtail) sashimi. Buttery and sea salt flavours. Delicious!
Food and service has always been great at this place. This is my 3rd time eating here and I must say that it s really delicious! I brought my 14 month old and they made sure that she was comfortable and even brought out coloring activities and vegetable sticks to occupy her while we enjoyed our meal. I love the wagyu striploin and the aburi oshi.
The food and service were absolutely wonderful. The atmosphere was lovely. I highly recommend the strawberry mochi dessert!
Very fresh sushi. The service is very attentive. We had a wonderful experience served by Kevin. The sushi rolls were delicious. Sashimi platter was fresh. - Mochi dessert was one of the highlights.
Great salmon sushi but some other disheswere very disappointing.
did not enjoy a single piece of fish out of 15 different types and preparation- reminded me of day old discount supermarket sushi. there is no atmosphere to speak of. the server was pleasant and efficient, but one had the sense you could have been in a roadhouse/airport lounge I take responsibility for not realizing the location is all about tourists and the knowledge that they either do not know better or that they will only be there once. I should have known better
This restaurant is such a gem! I dined in for dinner. I got the aburi oshi sampler, salmon ngiri, and the salmon oshi sushi. It was delicious! The flame sear technique is fire (pun intended). The affogato is great - heads up that the jasmine ice cream is light in flavor and was overpowered by the espresso. It came with a matcha cake, which was a nice surprise. The NA Toji Fizz was not my taste, but great service and food overall!
Best sushi Ive ever had
Awesome sushi!
Outstanding food and service!
Yesterday, Saturday afternoon I booked 7:30 pm reservations at Miku Toronto looking forward to celebrate my wifes birthday. We spent 45 minutes UBERing in heavy downtown traffic to get there. Finally we arrived to find the restaurant closed, and noone bothered to call and notify us. The manager finally came out to speak with us; she was arrogant and rude and did not even at least apologize. We were left with no options as it was too late to book anything else. We dine out in Toronto quite regularly and travel often to New York and California, we just returned from Los Angeles and Malibu. Most of my reviews are very positive Dont be swayed by the pretty pictures on the Miku Toronto website, Toronto has many better options and Miku Toronto is too far out of the way unless you live right at the Lakeshore !
The problem at this price point is that the food needs to taste wow and I dont think Miku achieved that. Ive had better sushi at at least half the price. We had the chef combo. Overall, the sushi tastes ok but the side dish isnt great. The scallops tasted nicely with the sauce but I dont think the cucumbers go well with it (it was a bit bitter and distracting - doesnt highlight the scallop taste as much). The green tea opera cake was great and structured well to have a well-balanced tasty & fresh bite. We also ordered the oysters since my friend was from out of town and craved. Id say its the same as every oysters I had in NA so far, so nothing special. The drink was good. The service was great. Every dish in the chef combo was explained in detail.
Fabulous restaurant to get together. Their Miku roll and espresso martini bring me back repeatedly. Great place to meet up and chat before going to Scotia arena concerts.
Sensational Sushi - Sushi Heaven where Freshness Meets Creativity Miku is our go to sushi restaurant!! What truly steels the show is the inventive fusion of flavors, showcasing the chefs mastery of traditional Japanese cuisine and innovative culinary techniques. We were treated to a delightful array of sushi creations, each one bursting with freshness and artfully presented. The staff were not only attentive and efficient but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, providing us with fantastic recommendations throughout our meal. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a remarkable sushi experience that seamlessly blends tradition with modernity.
If you want to sit in the big room, reservations are recommended, however they accommodate walk ins pretty well too. The food is great, exceptional, I would advise against the otoro though as it can be a little tough sometimes. Otherwise this place is fresh and inventive and close to me so I love that too.
Food is quite good, but does not wow. I also feel that the taste of the food was better in the past (I have been before several times), and only in my recent visit, I came out not feeling fully satisfied.
For a 2 person date night, the vibe in the main atrium seating area is too noisy, and the lights from the window is too bright. Food is pretty good though. About $100/person, no drinks and sharing dessert. See photos for: Fried chicken $25 - my favorite Fried prawns $25 Brussel sprouts $20 5x medium tuna sashimi 5x salmon $75 Dessert $25
Everything from the food, to the service, to the atmosphere here is top notch. Located in the heart of downtown Toronto, if youre looking for a special occasion to celebrate, I would definitely recommend! If you order one thing on the menu, the aburi is a must!
Ive dined at Miku many times, and the quality is always consistent every time! Staff is knowledgable and really run you through every single dish, and the fish is always so fresh.
It was just ok. I felt that some of the sushi lacked flavour. The best thing I ate was the cheesecake. Way too much $$$, definitely not going back.
Miku has always been my favourite restaurant to visit during a conference at Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Today s experience however, changed my perspective and I do not recommend any large groups to eat here. First, two of us arrived asking for a table to seat 7 people, however we weren t 100% sure if the 7th person would show up as we couldn t reach the person once lunch break started. As we got seated, the manager came to explain to us about the new tipping policy: for a group of 7 or more, the tip is 20% now instead of 18%. Fine, we told her we maybe a group of 6 people, which then she replied 20% tip policy applies to a group of 6 people too. I did not like the sudden flip flop on this new policy, that seems to change based on how many people we will have at the table. The menu on the other hand clearly stated Group of 7 people or more, 18% gratuity applies The lack of transparency made this policy sounded very shady, and the manager said the new policy started in April so there was no time to update the menu. (We are in middle of April, I am surprised these important notices have not been updated on the menu.) The attitude of the manager was also not what I would have expected at Miku. The waiter was pleasant, and the food was good as usual, however I am not sure if this whole experience was worth $50 for 10 pieces of sushi and a cup of miso soup. The tipping culture is supposed to represent the customer s gratitude for the service we receive for a nice meal. Imposing 20% tip for substandard customer service by the manager is the reason. I will no longer recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Miku is always a wonderful place for lunch, dinner, or a quick drink. You sure won t be able to resist the food though Food
Ive been frequenting this sushi place in Toronto for the past few years and Im continuously impressed by the high quality of both the food and service. Despite the busy Valentine s Day weekend rush, our server went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was outstanding. They were not only attentive but also took the time to explain the menu in great detail, making our meal even more enjoyable. This level of service, paired with the exquisite sushi, keeps me coming back time and time again. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an exceptional sushi dining experience in Toronto
Went there during Winterlicious and had the lunch course.
I loved it! The food was incredible, the service was top tier! Our server was Louise, she took great care of us, she seemed kind and professional. Definitely recommend!
Food: was lovely and very price affordable. The fish was literally melting in my mouth Drinks: the waitress suggested me one type of sake which I didn t like so she was kind enough to help me taste others to exchange into the one I d like . We found the one :) Service: above and beyond. The writers was smiling and so so kind and wanted to have my meal there as pleasant as possible. Thanks you!
We had a great meal at Miku, first time trying this style of sushi and we enjoyed it. Great service and tasty desserts too. Dietary restrictions: Took my allergy seriously and I felt safe eating here.
Such a calm place to enjoy your food and conversation at the same time.
Went there for team lunch and it was an awesome experience from food to services to atmosphere..everything was perfect
Perfection
Nice (and expensive) place. The main dishes are good. Their sushi is good too but not extraordinary. Probably the best part was the desserts. Food
We did the tasting plate for $130 plus the drink pairings with it. Everything was perfect. Taste of food complimented the beverage that was paired with. We will surely be back. Very impressed with the service and knowledge of everyone - they were very well versed in sake, wine and food served to our table. Dietary restrictions: They modified the tasting menu especially for my boyfriend who has issues with dairy.
Lovely lunch experience at Miku. You can really taste the quality of the fish and the service was great as well.
Lots of rice. Rice comes in every dishes. FOOD: Hotate Crudo: tastes like summer and ocean combined into a dish. Absolutely stunning, complex layers and unique flavors combination. Sashimi Lunch: all the fish are so fresh, you can feel the bouncy meat texture and the light, fresh flavor in every piece. Miku Roll: its good but since everything else was so delicious I expected something more special. Chefs Select: Id recommend this if you wanna try everything. You might not like the mackerel as the flavor is very strong. Salmon Aburi: is truly their specialty, the rice is good quality, cooked perfectly. Fish is juicy, buttery, melting tender but not mushy. Salmon Shinjo Salad: the deep fried salmon is good but a bit oily so not a big fan. DRINKS: good selection of sake, they are all pretty good. SERVICE: the female server I had in the beginning was very nice waiter was quite cold. VIBE: super bright and clean, very quiet and few people dine in during lunch.
staff, food and service where excellent enjoyed the evening, thank you.
Impressive fusion of flavors and incredible quality. Perfect for business dinners if you want to impress clients, We had a private party with a set menu with deserts.
2024-02-03 Update: Theres no way I could miss Mikus Winterlicious 2024 :) The menu featured similar items to previous LiciousTO events, and the quality certainly didnt disappoint. If I had to nitpick, I would suggest toning down the oil on the Aburi Sushi, but overall, every dish was just as fantastic as I remembered. Professional service and a tidy dining space, as expected. ******************** Miku never disappoints me :) My first visit was 5 years ago and it has become my go-to sushi place in Toronto ever since. This time was during the Summerlicious. Loved their customized menu designed specifically for the event, and as the first #LiciousTO event after Covid, their menu this year was as great as the previous ones. Miku Zen - especially loved the Maguro Tartare, felt that the tuna was mixed with miso but I could be wrong, eating with the stripped truffle chips, pretty tasty. Sushi Selection - yum as usual. Matcha Green Tea Opera - loved the 7-layered combination of mushiness and crunchiness, let alone its matcha flavoured. Yuzu Meringue Tart - sweet but refreshing. Service was amazing, the waitress was friendly and considerate.
The food was good! We enjoyed the spicy edamame, the brussel sprouts and the Japanese chicken! The torched sushi was also delicious. We also tried the waygu but likely wont repeat it again. The service was great, they explained the dishes and were prompt to refill water. Nice vibes, inside the restaurant - we were however seated by the kitchen, so docking one star on the vibes.
Some of the best sushi I have ever had!!
Been a regular customer for the past five years, but unexpectedly I had heavy diarrhea after today s dinner. The serving time was exceptionally long even though there were not many customers. Server was great and knowledgeable. Overall, not a happy experience, but will return. Hopefully next time the service can be better.
Ive been going to the Vancouver Miku and this location for quite a few years now. Still impeccable quality with some new dishes I enjoyed like the Hotate Crudo However I really dont like that they shrunk down all their sushi plates to just 4 pieces and theres so much overlap with the Aburi Salmon Oshi that Im reluctant to just order a bunch of them either. I miss coming to Miku to order 2 giant sushi plates and just soaking in the massive variety of artisanal nigiri.
Great Sushi friendly service nice location.
The restaurant s entrance is located inside the adjacent building, past the elevators (anyone else get a little lost? Lol) Upon arriving, we were quickly seated and I was happy to find there was adequate room in between tables (as you may know from some ayce experiences, this is not a common find!) We ordered from the Winterlicious menu and found it to be shockingly amazing perhaps one of the best meals I ve ever had (and we ve been to pearl morisette iykyk)! The highlights were the main dishes: the branzino and the lamb shoulder, both were cooked to the perfect texture and taste, the cuts were perfect and the pairings added to the already mouth watering tastes. Our server, Nile, was also very knowledgeable and described every dish, was great with the timing in checking in and was friendly but still professional. All in all, this restaurant did an amazing job and we will definitely be back!
Amazing culinary experience & service - Best sushi weve ever had! Dietary restrictions: Great options for a gluten free diet Food : 5/5 |
I often go there for their chefs sushi plate. Tried their winterlicious menu and it is as delicious!
I m a big fan of Miku, I ve come here several times. The Oishi is ofcourse a must. They have some very interesting things to try. I love the soft shell crab, and the wagyu dish. Always really good service and some great drinks available too
Amazing sushi! Great service. Wait staff s recommendations make sense and actually work.
Great service, amazing food! Tried their winterlicious menu, the sushi was very fresh and delicious. Almost melted in my mouth. Further, team was very accommodative. I went to dine with my friend who s highly allergic to nuts. The team was very kind and updated the menu to make sure that he doesn t get in any contact with nuts. Highly recommend this meal. Dietary restrictions: Very very empathetic and accommodative team
Everything was amazing, some of the best sushi in Toronto. I was born and raised here. And in my 30 years on earth I ve only had amazing sushi twice. Here and in Hawaii. Our server was great, his suggestions were all top tier. Can t wait to go back.
A group of four of us decided to indulge in the Winterlicious offerings at Miko, which is known for its upscale dining experience. While the prices lean towards the higher end considering the portion sizes, our overall experience was delightful. We savored the appetizers, relished the branzino and lamb dishes, and found the green tea desserts to be a perfect conclusion to our meal.
Never disappoints, authentic and price reflects the strong quality
The Winterlicious menu was phenomenal! The service was equally impressive, characterized by professionalism and attentiveness from the staff.
Had the Winterlicious 2024 lunch. I came in with high expectations (and admittedly considerable bias, Miku being my favourite restaurant), and once again the dining experience here hit it out of the park. The flavour of each dish was meticulously thought out and balanced. This is food that really let its taste do the talking, and its hard to not be wowed after each bite.
This is one of the best Japanese restaurants I ve tried. The sea food is so fresh and tasty. The portions are small compared to the price. But that might be because of how tasty the food was that we wanted more of it. They have amazing drinks and desserts. We have visited multiple times and each time, we had to try to dessert. The staffs are also very friendly and polite. Overall, we had great experience each time.
Ordered sushi takeout. It tastes good but dont expect to actually get full unless youre willing to pay quite a bit.
Miku is a classic for mid-upper end Japanese dining in Toronto. Highly recommend their Brussel sprouts, which come with thick cuts of crispy bacon. They re one of the first places in Toronto to do aburi sushi and still one of the best. Food : 5/5
Food is not not fresh! The fish taste like it s been sitting out for day. The combination of flavour is weird and not authentic. They need a new menu
Awesome food. And great service. We took chef s choice and that was too good. They even explained in what s there inside the food. Took dessert and had Sake all of them delicious.
I don t find the food tasty. The fish is not fresh. We ordered the valentine tasting menu and feels like the restaurant put more effort in the design than the food itself. Service is quite good I d say. Atmosphere is ok. I don t think I ll go back.
My favorites are the Aburi salmon oshi sushi, seafood soba and green tea opera! The roll is also great with a rich flavor. Fried chicken and wagyu carpaccio are ok, the seasoned vegetable under the wagyu is a bit too strong for me. Will definitely come back just for the salmon oshi sushi and dessert!
Hi, Im the regular customer of this restaurant and I was always very happy about everything. Today, I made a big order on Uber eats, and chopsticks were not provided, even though they were mentioned ,like, 4 times. Food is great, but the experience was ruined, as you have to ruin the sushi along the way.
Pretty poor experience here. My wife made a reservation for 9pm. She called to confirm the day of and asked about the tasting menu as that was the reason for our visit. At no point did they mention that the cut off time was 9pm. We arrived a few minutes late, but then waited 15 min for our table .which was empty so I m not sure why we were kept waiting but those 15 min could have made a difference in us being able to get the tasting menu. Once seated, we waited a bit for our server to bring the menus, and then noticed the cut off time of 9pm. We tried to flag our server down but couldn t get her attention. Eventually when she came we asked if we could order the tasting menu. She didn t check with the kitchen and we received an immediate No . We were then left to go through the menu. At no point thus far were we told that the kitchen was closing soon eventually when we were ordering we were advised the kitchen would close shortly. I asked if we could get apps and dinner at once so we could gauge if it was enough food, and decide if we needed to order more as soon as we could. That request didn t seem to get through to the kitchen so we got our apps only and were told we needed to order any additional dishes right then. We ordered more, which turned out to be too much food for us. We also finished our drinks and our server didn t come to take/ask for another drink order. It seemed like they just wanted to wrap up service for the night. Food itself was good, service was mediocre at best, experience was terrible.
Hands down the best sushi in the world. . . .
