450 Eglinton Ave W, Toronto, ON M5N 1A5, Canada
They upcharge. They have visible menu prices that say what it includes, the staff made up menu items then argued with me. Expect an up charge of 2-3$ on each item if you’re not careful, adding veggie charges or phantom cheese. They also didn’t give my my croissant.
Posting a critical review of a place is never enjoyable, but when it is about HEALTH AND SAFETY it is certainly necessary. The bagel looked good.. but half way through eating it, I noticed the red onion was looking off, and upon further inspection I saw that it was MOLDY AND FUZZY. At the point I had already eaten half the bagel (here's hoping I dont get sick). I brought it up to the staff and they said the red onion had oxidized?! Crazy to think they did not acknowledge the visible mold and even asked "what do you want? Do you want me to remove the onions?" Removing mold from a bagel slathered in cream cheese bagel is an exercise in futility. The first thing to do is to make a new one, and also check the rest of their onions. The server claimed she had cut the red onions fresh in the morning, but in a situation that concerns their patron's health, I think this statement is almost irrelevant. Eventually I got a refund and I made sure to tell them to check their red onions and the server said "they will check in with their supplier" which is strange since she originally said she cut the red onions herself that morning. It is sad to see a place serving food being so dismissive and careless about food safety, especially with visibly spoiled food. And to be so poorly trained with customer service, too.
Best amazing bagels at a great price! Can’t go wrong!
Solid place to get some breakfast / brunch bagels. Tried out the Hot Italian 🇮🇹 👱♀️
It’s unfortunate so many negative reviews. We found this place as we strolled along Eglinton looking for a small snack to have. You cannot beat the smell of a nice toasted bagel! This is a very cute shop with so much potential!!! We wiped the table to sit down… either the table was very dirty, or the table was old and the paint was coming off as the tissue turned very black 😔 The sever was very polite, very informative, and in comparison to the other reviews, we had acceptable customer service. The bathroom was very clean!!! I’ve been to nice places in Toronto and the bathrooms are disgusting, not at this place! Other than that, we enjoyed our meal, it was a quiet place nice for chit chat.
They are so cute and kind. Bagels are fresh and delicious
Place is empty of bagels, bagels no longer made on site. Dark, humid and cold. Bagels served out of bags. Devoid of people and happiness. Will go to the better location on avenue. Avoid
Great selection of fresh bagels and pastries. Best bagels in the area! Many different in house made cream cheeses too.
Bagels are not fresh from this location
Everything bagel is everything!
Decent bagels and good service.
Found a piece of hair in my turkey sandwich :(
Worst bagels (stale )and tasteless (everything, onion and cinn raisin ) cream cheese was sour. I just threw away 5 of.6 bagels purchased. Other locations are all excellent
Great place to have bagels
Horrible customer service, horrible staff, rude, unpleasant. They have shouted at me and my partner multiple times. They forgot to add ingredients to my bagel and their excuse was we didnt charge you for it. I didnt know mayo salt and pepper came with an extra cost when you order a bagel sandwich. The food is good when they have the ingredients because they are always out of something. It is a shame what the staff is doing to this place and I hope the owner reads this review and knows their staff is being verbally abusive to their customers.
I dont wanna get anyone in trouble. The manager should train the employees properly. Walked into the shop. No one to be found. Looked around and this employee was sitting below, eyes closed. I dont mind that, as other review said, they looked miserable. Worst part was they had put their hand inside the bagel container without any gloves and pressing one of the bagel like it was some squishy toy. Unhygenic af. They didnt even take out the bagel, they just dropped it their and started helping me. Had to knock on the glass to get their attention. I felt awkward not to order and order bagels from some other container. Too bad. This was very convinient store for me.
Absolutely delicious bagel with lox and mini cheese bagel. Didnt have any trouble with the staff
Liked it
Their selection was amazing! Loved this place.
Well, I just paid $3 extra for them to slice my bagel. If you feel like getting ripped off, go here.
So I paid $13 for a large bagel that I could not bite into! I made sure to grab the last one that was there thinking.. hey! Its fresh. I took one bite and almost couldnt bite into it. Not OK! Not only was it stale but after 10 seconds in the microwave, it was still ha r d as a rock! Was going to go back and show them but why bother? The lady there must have realized how tough it was. She was the one to toast it and add cream cheese.. she KNEW. I wont be going back there ever again. It was not same day made!!! If there was 0 but thats not an option.
consistently bad customer customer service, decent bagels but not worth the attitude and rudeness that these ladies have given me time after time
Very rude and disrespectful employee. Could care less about the customers.
Great bagels and treats, wonderful staff!!
Great sandwiches
The place smells bad and there are flies everywhere. I ordered a bagel with plain cream cheese but there was avocado in the middle. The person who prepared it cut the bagel in half with a knife that hadn t been cleaned from the previous customer.
First time I visited bagel place 9:am it was disappointing for me I got everything bagel but it was not fresh it was from yesterday don t shop this bagel place, I told the employee it is not fresh she said how can understand I ate little how I understand. Anyway don t shop.
Been here a few times, everything was made nicely and my order was accurate
I love the bagels here! :)
Bagels are hard any time of day
Nice !
Well made bagels, clean establishment, and friendly staff.
Nice breakfast spot while working on the Eglinton line
Tried the caraway bagel for the first time and it was delicious.
Love their bagels and other pastries. I would give this place 5 stars but their staff is very unpleasant and rude. Ive noticed it many times and they are very condescending (especially the asian lady who wears glasses). Its quite sad that they hate their job. I dont know whats causing that but a little pleasantness goes a long way.
The bagels are great and the staff are nice as well. Whats preventing this from being 5 stars is the fillings for the sandwiches. The meats are ok at best and not worth the price paid. Stick with bagels and cream cheese and youll definitely enjoy your snack.
Food is tasty, but check your order! Too many misses or it would be a 4 star
Good bagels, won t sell to you in person after 830, only Uber cause it s more important I guess?
WORST STAFF EVER , Asian lady with glasses super rude , it was our first time there and we were excited to get a bagel just for the employee to be the condescending and rude. We walked out. Stay away from that place.
Butter bagels
Best Montreal style bagels in Toronto. No other places come close.
Good bagels! Really nice that I could get them delivered with Uber Eats.
Been here on more then one occasion as I live close by. Every time I go it seems like the staff are super miserable. This is evidenced by they re lack of smiles. They also are always wearing one glove to prepare food not two. I don t understand how cheap an owner has to be to only allow one glove!!! On the subject of the manager, I have seen him and his staff handle money and not wash there hands after then serve customers. I questioned one the girls once only to be argued with. I have also seen the manager count money on the place they prepare food and not clean it after. Also for the turkey breaky bagel again one thin slice of deli turkey is another example of cheapness and inflating the price to fit this mans ego. I honestly barely go anymore. If I do I m hoping it s under new management and there have been significant changes!
Favourite quick stop for lox and creme cheese on an onion Bagel.
Ordered a dozen bagels and got a free cream cheese, Bagel House is the best!
Love this place my go to for cinnamon raisin bagels
Good fresh bagels. Always polite and friendly staff.
Great selection and tasty bagels.
Nice breakfast place . Very friendly personnel. Specially in todays stupid society . Stay positive bagel house.
The bagel was made quickly and was very good.
Great place
delicious
Amazing bagels, always get the sesame ones.
Great service and the bagels are Best in the City!!!! They were even giving out a free cream cheese sample with any purchase (very generous)
I like the cream cheese that comes with the bagels when you buy a dozen
You feel youre in good caring professional hands. Friendly staff
The customer service is faulty
We discovered when we got home they had sold us a dozen burnt sesame bagels and at full price, not even in a bag of day olds. Burnt bagels taste and smell bad which overpowers everything you might put on them. They should throw them out when they ruin them rather than sneaking them into bags hoping their customers wont notice. Check your bags before you leave their store as you cannot trust them.
Fast service very happy
Good mtl style bagels. Lots of locations and always open.
Not really Montreal bagel quality.
the food and bagel are very fresh and good here. umm I have a question though does it do uber eats???
Each location is special but this one might be my favourite!
1. Midmorning on a Sunday and out of plain bagels with no plans for more soon. 2. Rugelach (they call them something else, like chocolate rolls or something like that) are dry as wood and disgusting. Its so worth going elsewhere. The bagel house on avenue road is great - too bad that there is no consistancy between franchises. Way better than this place.
Bagels are ok, shop is dated and the staff are not overly friendly.
Their bagel sandwiches are great. But the salads are a bit sketchy. The first time I ordered the white tuna salad, I paid extra for avocado. The avo was in bad shape, not fresh at all. I get it, avocado is a fickle food, it goes from delicious to disgusting quickly. But dont put it on when its clearly rotten. Id rather pay extra for nothing than whatever the heck that was that ruined an otherwise entirely edible salad.
Fast service..very good assortment, fresh
Best bagels and this amazing orange peach jam
Nice bagels that are chewy. Only complaint is that I dont believe they are baked in house at this location, so at some hours the bagels have been sitting there for many hours, and may begin to taste slightly stale.
A lot of variety of bagels, it was my first time there and really liked it over there.
Love this place! Excellent customer service too!
Their bagels are okay, but it doesnt make up for the overpriced cream cheese. 26 dollars for 3 small portions. If I wanted to spend that like of money, Id expect the quality to be better. Disappointing experience
Bagel boards, mmmmmmm!
Best wood oven bagles
Must have bagels! Excellent customer service!
Great tuna salad. The best
For me, these are the best examples of Montreal-style bagels Ive found in Toronto. If only I could get them hot out of the oven like at St. Viateur...
Bagels are good . Attention is minimal.
Bagle is not globe earth and cars are blueberrys in design.
I bough twenty dollars worth of pastries ; cherry danishes, chocolate puffs, spinach n cheese pastry and a couple other things and they tasted dry and stale
Grest
Bagels are okay but what stops me retuning to this place is the terrible service. Rude, unfriendly and unhelpful staff always.
Ordered quickly, delicious. Had the hot italian sandwich.
Their bagels have holes in them. And theyre delicious!
Almost montreal in toronto. Lox was great.
Pricey but generous with portions and toppings. The upgrade to the much bigger twisted bagel for a buck-twenty five is worth is. Nice slathering of cream cheese and a precise cut of smoked salmon. Would like a more clear menu - it lists salami but it doesnt say it its beef or pork and the server couldnt tell me. Not kosher but definitely good bagels all round. Would visit again, comparable to Great Canadian Bagel.
Tied for best Montreal bagels in town!
Excellent
Great bagels.Reasonable prices
Solid spot for a Montreal style bagel. I like how theyre less fluffy and a bit sweeter than the New York style bagels. Whether its cream cheese, tuna or smoked salmon its a great pop in for lunch or even a late night snack as theyre open 24 hours! Highly recommend, always a staple if youre Midtown.
This location is awful! Service is terrible! The staff gave me pastries with chicken and beef and 2 chocolate croissants which supposed to be warm, but I ve found later that they were cold and hard like a stone. And they didn t even ask me to heat. And I paid 15$ for that, which is so expensive for 2 pastries and 2 croissants! I ll never go back to this place!
Bagels hard, hard. Could not get my teeth into them
Great neighborhood spot for my Montreal style bagels. Im a big fan of the breakfast bagel sandwich as well. Staff are super friendly and the cream cheese spreads are excellent. We like the feta and spinach, or smoked salmon. Try the everything bagel as well. Very good!
I have a bagel from The Bagel House almost every morning. Probably some of the best bagels I have ever had. Highly recommended.
I dint like bagels
Decent bagel shop, food wise. Had the avocado veggie bagel which was pretty yummy despite it falling apart all over the place (expectedly). Ive had better bagels though in other Toronto/Thornhill bagel shops. Cash only if its under $10 which is kinda annoying. Im also convinced I was short $1 in the change I recieved back but didnt want to question it at the time.
Terrable place
Omg! Freshest bagels Ive had in a long time... Great selection of bagels and breads. Lots of spreads to choose from. Staff also know their customers and what they want..
Love the BELT - good bagels.
Theyre 24hrs, but when I went their they had no bagels. Which is sad for a bagel shop. I then ordered a pastry and asked to have it heated, the employee was going to use a MICROWAVE! I asked if he can not use the microwave, he said they have nothing else to heat it with. What kind of bakery doesnt have an oven....or even a freaking toaster. Youre so cheap you cant buy a toaster from walmart? Overpriced and corner cutting. So Im assuming they make their bagels in the microwave too lol. I give them one star cause their cream cheese is tasty.
Quite cozy, great assortment of bagels and things to add to them. There are also one day bagels bag (with quite a lot of them) for something like $5. Works 24 hours, so a great choice for a midnight snack
High quality Montreal style bagels. A little on the pricy side, but considering this establishment is nestled within the Forest Hill/Midtown neighbourhood, Im sure price isnt a factor for many of the clientele.
A drill delicious bagel 365 days a year.
Their bagels are top notch. Montreal style. Freshly baked in house. 24 hours a day. Best selection of day old bagels and trust me I ve tried pretty much all other locations around the city. PB&J in a toasted sesame seed bagel should be illegal it s so good. Breakfast bagel sandwich, yup. List goes on
Stopped in for a quick lunch, and really glad to be able to get a fresh, local sandwich. Not a fancy place, and the service is kind of plain but its inexpensive and tasty. Id go back!
Reliably awesome Montreal style bagels 24 hours a day! Meat or dairy sandwiches. Knishes and latkes. Simplicity
Nice selection of breakfast sandwiches
Pretty rude service and overpriced for dry old bagels
the veggie bagel is nice, but the bagel itself was a bit dry. I wouldnt recommend that place.
A smile seems to be missing from the not so good service. Awful bagel sandwiches.
Mmmm breakfast bagel.
Bagels are delicious. Options are great. SERVICE WAS AWFUL. rude staff. Such a shame
Best bagels in Forest Hill
They were very happy to customize my order the way I wanted. Clean and well stocked.
Great place for a quick bite
Yumm
Their toasted bagels are so yummy
Sucks
Sandwich on a tasty everything bagel. Perfect. Now for dessert.
Lousy service.
#1 bagels in the city
I ve been here at 6 a.m and 6 p.m and they still provide the best Montreal style bagels at any time of the day or night. This is my go to bagel spot in the city now that I don t live in Montreal anymore. GO FOR THE BREAKFAST BAGEL WOTH HAM AND MAYO . Can t go wrong ;)
Loved this place. Definitely going back! Great selection of bagels, spreads and pastries and its a huge bonus that they are open late.
Awful customer service. I have been to this location a couple of times. The first time I went in I felt like the staff were very rude. I liked the food and I assumed maybe they had a bad day, so I decided to give them another shot. I went in again today and they were still rude and unfriednly. I dont know if they dont get paid well, or if they have poor management, but I am not going in again. I am going to tell the friends that I recommonded this place to not go in unless they dont mind the staff of a place to be rude and unwilling to explain the things on their menu to you! Sucks! Poor service, good food.
They dont bake on premises but bring in fresh from other locations
Bad rude service.
Very good bagels and a nice selection of jams too.
Really good bagels and cream cheese options. Below is a photo of an everything bagel with chili cilantro cream cheese
Touch of montreal in toronto
I used to love this place, but the Forest Hill location is not the same. The staff is particularly rude. They were using fowl language in reference to their customers while talking amongst each other. Furthermore, they dont listen to to what you want on your sandwich.
Great bagels. Theres a $10 minimum for credit cards. Its 2017.
Lots of variety for bagel sandwiches
Very good Montreal-style bagels
Bagels here are fantastic. I would give it five stars, except every time Ive gotten a container of cream cheese here, it doesnt seem fresh. Its always separating, with a layer of liquid on top. I was hoping it was just a one-time thing, but its been the same the last 3-4 times. This is still my favorite place to get bagels since its so close to my house, but I have to go elsewhere for cream cheese :(
Bagels are usually fantastic, but the food is somewhat inconsistent. Sometimes pastries can be dry and a bit stale, cream cheese doesnt always seem totally fresh. Staff is polite, but not friendly. Comfortable atmosphere.
Not as great as I expected.
Very tasty bagels. Love that you can buy day-old bagels at a reduced price.
Overpriced to begin with and they wont even put the toppings that are shown in the menu. Asked for everything on top, was given just capers which later found out they charged extra for. When asked why I was not given other toppings was told because I have to pay extra, which was not explained from the beginning. Apparently if you want a piece of lettuce you have to pay more, on a bagel with lox that already costs $7. Typical stingy bad service.
Great Montreal style bagels.
