A few doors east of Terroni Queen, Sud Forno is the perfect option to grab a bite on the go, with a daily selection of sliced pizza, prepared sandwiches and salads along with pastries and gelato (did we mention pastries?!). But now, back to our bread: using traditional ingredients and methods, our bread is made from high quality grains and flours that we import from a third generation family run mill in the Marche region. We use our own mother yeast, born by mixing flour with water, left to acidify at high temperatures to obtain a natural fermentation all of which brings you finished loaves so traditional unlike any we’d ever tasted outside of Italy.
Delicate focaccia bread sandwich with arugula and creamy cheese. Sorry don't remember name of Italian cheese. Also croissant with smoked salmon and same or similar cheese. Delectable Enjoy the communal dining table upstairs too.
Really enjoyed this place and it might be the best coffee shop in town! We went back to back days. It had fresh sandwiches, pizzas, sweet treats, take out goods, amazing coffee, friendly staff and a beautiful upstairs! We’ll definitely be coming back here time and time again
This is my tart after I microwaved it for one minute and after keeping it in the fridge for about 2 days. It still looks really good and tastes really good too. I got the apricot danish after asking the server for recommendations and that too was sweet complimented by the tangy and slightly sour nature of the apricot. The cream was also not too sweet and the pastry was just the right amount of flaky, even after heating it up to eat. I got both pastries for takeout
I had a torta veggie, iced oat latte, and bread (I don't remember the name, but it tasted somewhat like a sourdough). The torta veggie was very tasty and fresh and the bread was also great. I found the latte a bit too bitter that I had to put some packets of sweetener. The bitterness still didn't go away.
I had the opportunity to try and see their products while they had a pop up shop at Farm Boy Front & Bathurst. Amazing experience with the tastiest breads, sweets and sandwiches and MORE! We had the Focaccia for lunch with these great little bombolini treats that were incredible. Took home some cannoli and a chocolate mousse and butterscotch budino. The mousse was sooo good! Loved all their offerings and the staff hosting were super engaged and friendly. Thank you for a wonderful food experience! The dedication of your team and focus is evident. Love local!
Follow @bredgyeats for more food posts! A classic Italian sandwich, constructed for a tasty bite no matter which direction you start in, every nook and cranny is stuffed with prosciutto, mozzarella, arugula and tomatoes. I've discovered a nice flavour combination of ricotta and orange, harmonized together in a crumbly pie crust that reminds me somewhat of cheesecake. At the same time, the double choco biscotti is double baked for a crisp/crumbly texture and an aromatic cocoa bite that contrasts the pie slice nicely.
Zucchini pizza is my favor, but everything is excellent. Highly recommended if you are looking for a quick meal, casual & authentic italian food. 😀
Sud Forno is an Italian bakery restaurant with a large upstairs seating area and an upstairs patio. I came here on a weekday afternoon for a treat. I got a small Nutella donut and the jam / pastry cream filled croissant. The pastries and pizzas here are definitely very beautiful and made with care. Unfortunately the ones I chose were very sweet. The textures were perfect though, the donut was fluffy and soft, and the croissant had perfect layers. They also have a good wine selection, fresh pastas, and more Italian prepared foods for sale. I would probably come back to try their pizzas or other savory items.
Best place ever!
Excellent...I recommend visiting
Actually can t believe that we paid $16.39 for this below average sandwich on a rock hard baguette. No wonder prices aren t listed it also prompted us to tip not once, but twice on this $17 purchase My partner did not end up eating this, he couldn t bite into it.
Consistently legit
Definitely try their bread and ice cream/gelato
Great bakery with a wide assortment of pastries and breads. Loved the cannoli and cream puffs.
Overall a 10/10 cafe, excellent coffee, baked goods, service, and ambiance. Everything is authentic and made in house, so they often prep after hours once the café closes. Great for a quick stop or, if you re like us you love sitting down and enjoying your beverages over a card game or conversation. In which case, you ll love the second floor with cozy seating and a warm colour palette. Francesco serviced us and was excellent and relatable.
I was looking for an Italian bakery in Toronto to eat a small sandwich. I chose this one because the website was available in Italian. I speak fluent English (in fact, Im American), but for me, a website in Italian is a sign of authenticity. I am very satisfied with my choice! Here I ate like in Italy! I took the classic stuffing and the caprese cake. Both were delicious, and eating on the terrace made the experience even more beautiful! Thanks to the very welcoming team for an authentic Italian meal! I cant wait to return to this place in the future!
Best gelato in Toronto!
Love everything about it.
Tasty food but not worth it, if they get your order wrong
Always a gem.
Pop-up at Farmboy today was amazing, got a spicy red pepper sauce, fresh bread and the super nice women working recommended the apricot danish which was fire. Didn t know you had a location on Queen West but will come check you out as I ve only been to the Yonge street one.
there is no chocolate in a chocolate croissant
The 40 bucks tiramisu is not worth it at all, it s extremely overpriced
Used to be the greatest place! Went in this morning - and coffee is no longer Italian, it s Indian: over steamed milk, burnt my tongue, isn t even cappuccino, just a small latte. Bring back professional baristas. Food
Graham was very informative and helpful in providing recommendations and details about wines.
Delicious pizza!!
The Nutella espresso is a unique find - I always get it here!
Great quality and original italian flavors.
Got locked on the patio, roof was leaking and spitting in my coffee. Asked for a glass of water and they told me they didn t have any. Never will I go back. You should reconsider.
The Nutella doughnuts, the pizza slices and the strawberry rolls are really good
Service with a smile will be much appreciated
I spent some time living in Italy and this was like coming home... Porchetta!! Mamma!!! Everything was wonderful Grazie tante
Love the chicken cotoletta and the lattes are pretty good <3 But the girl at the counter today warmed up my sandwich and cut it in half for me (which they haven t done in the past & even though it s a small gesture it really added to my experience)!
Love their pasteries and their service is good
Third class service
Yummy drinks and snacks, just too expensive for what it s worth unfortunately :(
Toronto staple, great quality products, the best ingredients and friendly + quick service.
Latte flavour is stale and bitter I dont think they clean the machine the overpriced canoli is good but would not return.
You need to come here now!! Maybe you need food for a picnic at the park or just to have a pizza in their lovely patio, totally recomend it!! The place is great, you can buy many things and enjoy it in the Park, they will pack everything and warm it up. Choose everything you need and then go to pay. No pets inside
Fantastic food!
Arrogant and rude staff. They give 1 napkin for 2 people? Why? Maybe they didnt like the tip i gave ?
Ordered online through their website. An item was missing. They staple the bags shut at the counter so you tend not to check before you head out.
Staff are incredibly friendly; service, food and atmosphere are spot on. A Queen West gem!
The sandwiches should come with a dental insurance plan. The bread is so hard and chewy that each bite squeezes out whatever stuffing there was inside, and might break a tooth or two. Looks nice, but not practical.
Food is delicious (savoury and sweet), coffee too, prices very reasonable, service is fine... But the seats are not good. Its like they want you to leave quickly! Some comfortable seats would make the experience here exceptional Food
Just passed by there as I was walking down queen with my friend. We wanted to have a little snack with some coffee. So we got a slice of pizza, Nutella bomba and two drinks. The person doing the pizza at the time had forgotten our pizza, so we were standing there longer than needed wondering what was going on. The bomba was excessively filled with Nutella, super sweet. The macchiato I got was good, but I don t think I d go out of my way to return. The pizza was way too dry and salty.. I also felt that everything was way overpriced.
Sud Forno has so many delicious things! The sandwiches are amazing, but some of our favourite things are the fresh pasta and take home sauce, to have a restaurant experience at home!
The Peche with any coffee beverage always hits home.
Sud Forno on Queen is a great place to stop for delicious croissants and well-made coffee. Staff are welcoming and friendly.
why cant we order coffee from Sun Furno online?
Great place to grab pastries
Its a stylish room and well laid out given the narrowness of the space. Sadly its kinda hard to pay nearly $8 for a pizza slice that is made off-site and frozen and reheated in store. The coffee cups, however, were notably really nice thick and heavy.
I ve visited this place several times. Food is very good I would give 5 stars for food. But this review is not about food but service. There is a guy in gold spectacles who is very kind. But one cashier (girl) who just bossed around saying the store is closed when i went in at 8:20PM. Moreover when i thanked her she did not even bother to look /respond; may be she doesn t like to serve brown people.
It s always good visiting Sud Forno! Either for grabbing a coffee and walk in the park after, or sitting at the lounge they have and experience the beautiful view of the Queen street s old buildings from the window! I had a small piece of Bigne Alla Cioccolata and I m hoping I m writing the name correctly as my memory helps! I love the coffee they serve and the pleasant atmosphere of the location! Salute!
Very cool bakery on trendy Queens Street. Good coffee, pizza....Also donuts are amazing. Very clean inside, staff friendly. The reason why I didnt give 5 star is only pricing. Very expensive. Also not always easy for parking.
Could be better the line for payment...it is always confusing
Beautiful
Great place with awesome food.
Service and food were excellent
This cafe is good however it is WAY overpriced! If you wanted to find a cute study spot this is not it. There is only one outlet available, and no wifi for customers. Don t recommend overall.
A lovely cafe with plenty of seating upstairs. There s a great selection of pastries to enjoy at reasonable prices. The coffees are pretty basic (no latte art which would be nice) but they do the job.
We recently dined at Sud Forno, while aesthetically pleasing, left me feeling less than satisfied with my experience. While the interior was nice and had a lovely atmosphere, the prices for the food were a little steep for what we received. The standout disappointment of the evening was the pizza taglio, which not only lacked in flavor but also left all of us with stomach aches after eating it. Overall, I cant say Id recommend this restaurant to others. While the atmosphere may be pleasant, the high prices and subpar food leave something to be desired.
Really enjoy the food and good coffee as well. Bombolones are delicious.
BEST PASTERIES EVER
Extremely RUDE staff. Dont go here. The service is horrible. Leaves a bad taste.
The food is beyond awesome for me... and my friend enjoyed it too... very pleasant and laid-back ambiance. It suited us very well with a baby in tow
Beautiful ambience | Amazing Iced Latte (Double Shot) | Didn t get a chance to grab food but will definitely go there again to try some.
Italian joint (somewhere between an osteria and a trattoria) with simple baked goods, coffee and wine selection. The pizza and desserts were good, and were heated up by somebody who was actually Italian! There is a family style table upstairs that provides the only seating option, so you may be brushing elbows with strangers in more busy times.
I LOVE IT HERE- such good sandwich and gelato. Very cute place I am in love with the sandwich. Girl that works there is kinda rude tho but its ok bc the sandwich is very nice.
Authentic Pakistani ambiance Dont miss the karak chai
Good.treats to eat and frozen ones to take home. Excellent frozen pizza.
This place is way better than Starbucks! This is definitely my go to breakfast every morning. Everything looks and taste flabbergastingly delicious!!!
A perfect place to sit down for coffee, pastry or a slice of pizza. Cozy ambience.
Overall good experience! The service was very good and the guy at the counter was really helpful. The pastries were good too but the coffee was not to good. The girl at the coffee machine obviously isnt very trained on how to prepare good coffees. She (nearly) boiled the milk and just poured it into the cup. At the end my latte was drinkable but definitely not worthy of an high-end coffee place. The bar is really nice but it deserves staff that is properly trained in terms of how to prepare high standard coffee drinks. Still, the place is worth a visit!
The food is great here, but the barista on April 29 was very rude to us after she messed up the order, I regret tipping here, some people shouldnt work in service.
The best in town! All very good. Best in Toronto!
Love it
It s unbelievable how three people including chef couldn t answer my question: Are there any unpasteurized eggs in Tiramisu? I had to leave without any answer, it s a shame to treat customers so unprofessionally. Also it s extremely inappropriate when the staff has no idea about a list of ingredients in their products.
Rude
I always get the pizza and it s great but the SERVICE IS TRASH. Every time I visit this place I am uncomfortable, the staff clearly doesn t want to be there. And the prices are wild, but I guess that queen street for you.
I love their baked good and salads. They have quality tasty food! It s just that the service is chaotic and frankly not very nice.
Absolutely delicious! I could eat there every day!
Very good pastries and coffee
Really delicious breads, sandwiches, desserts, and snacks. Perfect for a quick bite to take to the park or something from the pantry or freezer to take home for dinner. Will return, probably repeatedly.
Have some respect for your customers if they are grabbing on the go. How many buttons do you have to hit to not tip?
Very good pizza!
Fantastic little coffee shop with great food and space to relax. Patio out back is great. Hazelnut gelato is a must try.
One of the best pizzas Ive ever had. The place was quiet and clean, with a good variety of pizza, desserts and gelato, also the staff was very friendly
Amazing Italian Cafe and Eatery. They specialize in coffee, sandwiches, croissants, bread, pizza, and donuts! Its a cute aesthetic place and has plenty of options for everyone to try. In love with their bombolone donuts. Would recommend all to try.
Foccacio-style slices of pizza, desserts, and salad-like foods can be purchased as packages. The flavors are very good, but the prices and portions are not proportionate. Palm-sized pannacotta 7cad. Slices of pizza are between 7.5-9 cad. The environment is very nice, you can sit for a long time and enjoy. Even if you buy a package, they ask for a tip at the cash register
UPDATED AFTER 3 YEARS OF GOING : Sud Forno, a charming Italian food haven located on the bustling Queen West, has undergone a disheartening transformation over time, leaving its devoted customers, myself included, with a sense of disillusionment. Once renowned for its exceptional array of Italian culinary delights, Sud Forno seems to have faltered in maintaining the high standards that once set it apart. Most notably, the signature pizzas, a highlight for many, have lost their luster. The enticing crunch that used to accompany each bite has become a rarity, replaced by a disappointing lack of texture. Furthermore, the pizzas now exhibit an unwelcome acidic undertone, leaving a sour aftertaste that lingers. A crucial element of Sud Fornos allure used to be its curated selection of packaged goods, a reflection of authentic Italian flavors. However, the delight of discovering rare and unique products has been tarnished by the exorbitant pricing. While quality warrants a higher cost, the extent to which prices have escalated here raises eyebrows and discourages patrons from indulging in these offerings. A dismaying sight awaits those who peruse the stores shelves. What was once an inviting and organized display of goods now appears neglected, with layers of dust hinting at a lack of care. This neglect extends metaphorically to the establishments pricing strategy. Sud Fornos rates, be it for their wares or culinary creations, often lean towards the steep end of the spectrum, leading one to question the equilibrium between quality and cost. Unfortunately, the disappointment extends beyond the products themselves, seeping into the interactions with the staff. The disinterested and detached demeanor exhibited by the employees mirrors a pervasive trend in Torontos dining scene, leaving customers yearning for the genuine warmth that enhances a dining or shopping experience. In summation, Sud Forno on Queen West, once a revered destination for fine Italian provisions, has lost its way. The decline in the textural perfection of their pizzas, the unwelcome acidity, the inflated pricing of packaged goods, the lackluster presentation of shelves, and the indifferent staff collectively cast a shadow over what was once a beacon of culinary delight. As a dedicated patron, the allure that once drew me in has faded, and I find myself contemplating alternatives that offer the quality, authenticity, and overall gratification that Sud Forno now struggles to provide.
Why am I being asked to tip for the act of handing me a loaf of bread? And then the machine guilts me for not tipping
Placed an order for 2 olive loaf and 2 lemon walnut loafs this morning for pickup in afternoon. Received email and text confirmation that my order was ready to pick up. When I got there my order was not there and then they tried to tell me they didn t have any lemon walnut loafs (so how come I got confirmation my order was ready for pick up, especially since the two olive loads I got were packed at that moment in front of me and there were only 3 left at that moment had I got there any later I probably would have got nothing) plus no one bothered to contact me at all, drove out from Niagara Falls for it too. Quality of the olive loafs were great but the fact I had to pre pay was confirmed that my order was available for pick up and they didn t even have my order available or ready and almost ended up with nothing, very poor customer service, don t know if I will return here to be honest.
tasty donuts
The best bread in the city!!!
This was a lovely spot to stop for a great latte while shopping Queen Street W on a cool and rainy day.
One of the top coffee corners in TO
Mediocre Italian chain and for the prices they charge it s not worth it. The cannoli filling was a little runny & bland, our shells were also pretty dark which is a sign that they ve been cooked in too much oil, or sat in it for long. Bombes were average. The bread might be the only thing I d re-purchase if I came here again. Staff were friendly though.
Loved this place and the patio out back was so peaceful. Bread is like Soccer, you cant live without it.
Feels like I m back to Italy everytime I come here. My absolute favourite pastry place in entire Toronto
The people working here are really dismissive and rude. Prices have gone up, and not reasonable for the quality. Seriously? 35 dollars for a small slice of fruit cake? L O L nah.
Beautiful environment and music, great staff and delicious food! Bamba, the bartender is amazing! Love this place!
Top notch service by Niko the manager and awesome catering from the super star chef! My parents recently celebrated their joint 65th and 70th birthday s. Thankfully it was an hit as our family and friends kept raving about all the food. I m an event planner and I have to say, it was so nice to receive such great service from start to finish. I highly recommend ordering catering from Sud Forno for all your event needs. You won t be disappointed!
Cute Italian inspired bakery with high class ambiance and food. The pastries are divine. I got the nutella mini donut and a bite-size chocolate cake. Both were heavenly.
Friendly stuff and delicious gelato. I always come to this location to stock up on the jars of pepperoncini!
I used to really like this place, but unfortunately the service and prices have really gone downhill.. I paid $14.00 for a sandwich just to have it given to me unwrapped, and have the debit machine placed right on top of it by the girl cashing me out.... Not only is that really unsanitary, but it seems like the people working there just want you to pay and get out. Unfortunately Im not the only one whos had bad experiences here recently. I dont think Ill be coming back anytime soon.
Great bakery, tasty sandwiches, and a unique assortment of wine/drinks. Absolutely recommend!
Nice pastries!!
$9 for a tiny little can of vodka soda and $7+ for a gelato bar... Staff during the evenings on weekdays is hit or miss, some are rude and will not be friendly before you even pay. The debit machine also asks you more than once if youre sure that you dont want to tip, which is funny because all they do is put my sandwich in the oven and not smile.
Everything here is delicious. From the instore items to the take home goods. My partner and I come here so often its silly. The pasta sauce pucks are a favorite and the Gelato bars are SINFUL.
Everything here tastes great and the coffee is well made! I really like the guy who makes me coffee for me! However, there were a couple of times where the service was not the best. I remember standing in line for an awkward amount of time for a coffee once, since the person at the register wasn t trying to communicate. Very awkward for the both of us I assume. They also got my order wrong, I wanted a focaccia but I got a weird croissant thing for like 8 bucks. I m sure it s a misunderstanding, but it kind of left a bad taste in my mouth with all the past experiences considered.
Amazing pastry if you wanna eat authentic italian, pay them a visit
Very expensive croissant, and not worth it. Off day?
We went for coffee & a quick bite. Decided to sit near the entrance by the window. Coffee was delicious and I love that they offered oat milk & ice separately. Their food was delicious & the two gentlemen behind the counter were friendly and funny! They were dressed as Luigi s (waiting for Mario) and offered a small dessert for our son as well. The back half also sells pizzas and wines, pastas and sauces.
I stopped by Sud Forno for coffee and found their coffee and pastries to be quite good. The interior is very modern, with plenty of seatings provided on the second floor. Note they dont offer outlets or internet, so it might not be the ideal spot for extended computer work.
Picked up some fresh pasta which was very tasty however when paying was shown tip options starting at 20%. When I declined to tip (as I was buying groceries) the machine was programmed to tip shame me. I m sorry but that s unacceptable. Instead maybe the owners of the Terroni empire should pay their employees more rather than tip shaming their customers.
Ive never been asked so bluntly to vacate a table before.
By far the most rude employees ive ever come across. And its not even close. Will never return. Service
love this place. great espresso & baked goods, breads, treats - everything is great!
Great pastries and ready-made foods. Ive liked some of the Italian products they sell in store, and their pizza dough you can buy. They make a solid cappuccino and the pastries Ive tried have always tasted fresh and flavourful. [Id recommend trying their crossiants.] They also have a cute upstairs with a big work area and a balcony during the summer.
A great place to do some work on a cozy Saturday morning. Foods good, the patio on the second floor is better. Loved it
Its ok...a bit pricey Was there yesterday January 9th 2022... Was packed.. No adherence to sign 10 people max... A family was eating inside... I started a line outside... UberEATS people just kept bypassing the line Would avoid Dec 2023 update: overpriced, but good quality
We had some bombolone and tarts. They were great. I would recommend going there for the experience and flavors. I would be more critical but Ive only been once and it was pleasant. Go try it for yourself.
Amazing food, consistent & fresh! Worth it! Vegetarian options: Vegetarian pizza by the slice Food : 5/5 |
Excellent coffee and friendly service
Gorgeous spot, gorgeous upstairs dining area and back patio, so many fancy Italian deliciouses...
The bread was really delicious! Crusty outside and soft inside.
Not fresh most of the time..
Delicious pastry and pizzas!!!!
Love visiting here whenever Im on Queen west. The biscotti, bombolone, and lattes make for a perfect Saturday afternoon stop. Lots of seating on the upper level.
Sooooooo goooooood!! I typically purchase the homemade pasta and sauces that you can take home and cook. This is such a great idea to sell the restaurant menu food but for people that want to cook it at home. Daves a lot of time not having to make my own pasta. Everything here is delicious.
Coffee is good. Great selection of dessert and pizza.
Well, thats it. No wow, this will do for once.
This place is amazing! Service is excellent!!
Their frozen pizzas are quality.
Customer service was terrible I asked the woman behind the bar three times to heat my roll , she never did . Also No butter no sauce and not even heated up . Terrible taste very dry and bland . They also had the audacity to charge me $14 for this sandwich. NEVER AGAIN
Obviously zero complaints about the food because it s 10/10 However prompting for a tip on grocery items is a bit much pay your employees what they deserve don t rely on customers to do that
I love the variety of pastries!!
Excellent coffee place.
Top products
One of my favourite places for coffee, croissants, or a pizza slice. Everything is fresh and tasty. Plenty of different spaces to seat whether you wanna work while you are drinking your coffee or if you wanna spend an evening in the patio
Heard even true Italians consider this place legit; the pizza is to die for.
I like this cute little shop. I do not like being asked for a tip when I m purchasing groceries. I understand cafe side of things but when I come in to get some cheese, some butter and bread, giving me credit card machine with 20% tip ask isn t polite.
The best pastries around. My mouth is watering rewatching the videos I took. I was really craving pastries and this place both fulfilled them and made them worst. Took everything within me not to buy another round to scarf down at home later.. 10/10
Went there for coffee with a friend. I had and latte and tried some pastries. Everything was delicious and pastries were not overly sweet. The only thing I would say was that theres limited seating, so when it gets busy it can be hard to get a spot.
Authentic Italian Bar (the way Italians call a Café in Italy). Daily fresh bombe and bombolini, simple but delicious sandwiches ,excellent crostate (sweet pies), and great espressos and capuccinos good selection of wines and spirit too. Dont miss it if you are in the area!
Great coffee place
A gem! Popped in for takeaway and could have done some serious damage. From the pizzas to sandwiches, beverage selection and treats, we enjoyed every bite.
Amazing chicken sandwich, chocolate croissant and bombolone. Lots of Italian ingredients here too. You can get guanciale here!
A bit underwhelming for the pugliese and sausages. Have to go back to check if maybe the espresso is the draw
Toto pizza mushroom cheese Gorgonzola potato pizza (heaven! Nutella Bombone (Nutella flavour is meh, but the dough is superb Cannolo (not heavy. Light cream. Refreshing Almond berry crostata (the berry jam is no. But the frangipane, crust are delicious Rum baba (loaded with rum. Soft. Biscotti Nutella
Very good Italian bakery with a very cool vibe. Really enjoyed the gelato and the cannoli.
Excellent place
