I had a great time playing my original songs at open mic nights. I ve been three times. Also jamming was fun as well. Some very good players go to open mic nights. Thanks to Greg the host for having me.

This a very nice speakeasy type place with a cozy, romantic atmosphere. Live Jazz and blues music was elevating the vibe.

Beautiful ambience

This hidden gem is a just what Yonge and Eglinton needed. Located downstairs beside the bookstore, its easy to miss. Once go down the eclectic staircase, the staff are friendly an make you feel welcome. Lots of seating and band o. Friday came on around 9pm. $5 dollars for the band and so worth it! Drink menu was a nice surprise with some fun Trists on classics. The Cinnamon toast crunch old fashioned was super delicious! Food reasonable and guac and Nachos, fries all great to share. This place is like the smaller, newer replacement of Alley cats jazz bar. Function is a fantastic neighborhood spot and a fun hang out for music and drinks! Great vibe and will be back!

The hardest part might be finding this place if the lights are not on. It is in the basement, and a narrow staircase takes you downstairs. Might look shady but its anything but that!! Great collection of craft beer, live music, good food, old Nintendo setup and very very polite and friendly staff. Their live music hours have a cover charge, so if you arrive or stay after 9:30 , its $5 per person added which is worth it. All said, I was very surprised why it wasnt full, the place is too good to have so many empty tables. A hidden gem!! Vegetarian options: Hummus

Function Bar + Kitchen is Yonge and Eglinton s Hidden gem. Located in the Young and Eglinton s downtown core, Function Bar+ Kitchen is a unique experience to have gone through. With live bands during the week nights and Head liners on the weekends , Function Bar + Kitchen offers you an experience to have like no other. The menu at Function Bar + Kitchen is really great, not expensive, but the chef they have hired curated some really unique meals for you to enjoy. The best part of Function Bar + Kitchen is that they have a cool beer menu as well as an extensive cocktail list for you to choose from. Ill definitely be back at the Function Bar + Kitchen !

Went to this very cool place after dinner in Toronto. Tucked away on Yonge st and down a few steps youll find this very cool bar that hosts local bands. Great selection of beers and cocktails and awesome music. We didnt try the food this time around but we will def be back to visit it again.

Just the best time at Function Bar last night. We had the privilege of watching Quincy Bullen and his Family - who not only are tier one talent on a global scale but also blew the roof off the building from the basement. Fantastic cocktails and a top kitchen - - Nick and his staff are the best. If you re reading this - and looking for a great night in mid town - go - it never disappoints

Ive been to Function bar twice now and had a great time both times. But, I do feel I need bring up what happened this past weekend. I went with a group of friends and we got separate bills. I paid mine without examining it and tipped 20%. It wasnt until today that a friend that was there with me said they looked at their bill and there was already an 18% gratuity included on the bill, so they double tipped. With the 18% gratuity already tacked on (which was never pointed out to me), plus my 20% gratuity that I tipped, my server got an $80 tip from me. Whats worse is I feel awful for inviting my friends that were taken advantage of as well. When people are drinking, theyre not going to closely examine the bill. We should have been told that there was already a gratuity included. Unfortunately, I wont be going back, even though I was really excited about this bar.

Had a wonderful time here, they had Latin music with a live band playing which we loved! Friendly staff and nice atmosphere, drinks were good too, didnt get to try any food yet. Cant wait to come back, great place to dance!

Love coming here! The cocktails are creative and tasty, and they have a very nice beer selection. They have live music a couple times a week, so definitely come if you want your ears blown.

We went early on a Sat nite for my bday. The food was incredible and the server/bartender/host was INCREDIBLE. Atmosphere took a hit because we were super early and there was no one else there. Looking forward to going to listen to live music.

Ordered a burger, came out like piece of leather. Servers were never existent. Sald was all salt. I would not recommend for food, or if you want decent service. I had to pay full price for half eaten food that I complained about. This was a Thursday night, maybe 10 people in the restaurant, bad service,food was less than 5/10

Organized a private party for 70+ friends at Function one week before Christmas. The party was a huge success with outstanding food and service. Nik was a pleasure to work with and was very attentive the entire night. Food was plentiful and delicious. Servers were super friendly and worked hard to ensure a good time was had by all. The atmosphere was very cozy. I would highly recommend this venue for a private party or a casual week day/weekend dinner. Its a great gem in mid city. Nik and staff thank you for making our party so memorable.

I had my office new year party there. I do a lot of work functions in different places but I have to say this was the best experience ever. It was on a Saturday night and they have a live band which was phenomenal. The food and service was amazing and everyone had a great time. Most importantly the manager Nik was very friendly, cooperative and made everything go smoothly for me. He was so easy to plan the party with and made everything work the way I wanted! I will DEFINITELY go back there just with my husband or friends or have my office parties there again.

We hosted a 40th birthday party (13 people) on Saturday and loved it! None of us had ever been there before. Nik (the manager) was amazing to work with - positive, patient, flexible, easy going, responsive - by email, phone and in person. The staff that night were also lovely (place was pretty full). Music was classy and chill good vibes - Shane Phillips is a talent. Food and drinks were good! We loved the calamari, shrimp / beef tacos, hummus, fries, chips + salsa and brownie (best ever). The fried chicken and pulled pork sliders were alright (well have to come back to try the rest). Highly recommend this hidden gem for a date night or birthday! Thanks again :)

The ambience is great and food options are quite extensive. There is live music almost every day of the week and even Mario Kart at the bar. Loses one star because the cocktails are gravely overpriced and nearly $15-$16. Many other bars price their cocktails at $10-$12.

Went here with a few friends based on a recommendation. This place isnt very big, but the vibes are fantastic and the energy was amazing. The live music on the day we went was incredible. I would absolutely come back here. Make sure you go with people who like to dance for maximum enjoyment! Also met the owner when we went. He was a great dude.

I have been asked by Google to rate Child-Friendliness. I cant really see a baby or a little one asking for a cocktail from the bar but everyone who works at this venue seems to show the integrity that they would not prepare a gin and tonic for a toddler. As far as my experience goes, I would recommend this bar to anyone.

So maybe I just went on a bad night considering all the wonderful reviews on here that led me wrong! The washroom is horrible!! The smell!! Its like the ninja turtles home! (a sewer) Also, they didnt have any toilet paper in the womens bathroom ?!? The portion of food ( Korean style, tofu) for the price ridiculous! However, the fries were delicious! I had a pineapple mule drink, definitely not some thing I would ever drink again, especially at that price. Oh, and just to let you know, the bathroom is right behind the stage. Everybody in the place knows youre going to the bathroom from the outside this place looks like its discrete but not on the inside.

Function Bar is a real gem in the Yonge/Eglinton area, amazing selection of local brewerys on tap and recently they started weekend brunch which I tried with my partner last weekend and WOW, the Eggs Beneddiction was incredible and so were the Juevos Rancheros. Some of the best brunch we had both ever had, seriously. Compliments to Chef Adam for working some serious magic in the kitchen, not quite sure how he does it. We also somehow ate a bit of the pancakes as well and they were fluffy, buttery and melt in your mouth delicious so do not hesitate to get over there for brunch!

We ve been to Function a bunch of times. Best spot in Yonge and Eglinton/midtown area for cocktails, craft beers and snacks. Great service and the owner, Nick, is a great guy. We mainly know this place for the live music, which is incredible. But we just tried their new brunch menu (Saturday and Sunday only), and I must say, we were blown away. I had the eggs Benedict, my wife had the breakfast burger and we ordered French toast for our 1.5 year old. Everything was outstanding. Most mains come with great portions of salad and fantastic potatoes. Was super impressed. Will absolutely be making this a regular weekend brunch spot. And pomegranate mimosas dope!

Not only do they have a great craft beer selection on tap, they have amazing brunch cocktails and the food was just what my heart needed. The espresso martini was amazing and the portions for food were great! The home fries were chefs kiss. . This cute joint might be in a basement but it definitely seems lively and a great local spot if you are in the area. They have live music daily, tv s to watch the Jays games and even open mic on Sunday nights I heard. Will for sure be hitting up this spot again to dance to some jazz under the disco ball. . Thanks again for having us!

Genuinely awesome. The owner and then staff are super friendly, courteous and welcoming thats rare these days. - Clean - Tastey food and great menu - Good taste in music - Weekends the bar the brings dopest bands from most of the genres on the spectrum. Definitely a yes and a mist go for ppl with special taste in music, drinks, ambience, and food. ONE OF MY FAV LOCAL BUSINESSES.

Came here for the first time, place has a nice vibe, and food was good but had small portions and the sandwiches dont come with any sides. Ordered Korean friend chicken which had good flavour and the chicken was nice and crispy, and the pulled pork sandwich was also good, pork was tender and the sauce is more tomato based, but was still hungry afterwards. Drinks were a little overpriced Would come back again l, but its more of a spot to come to hangout for a drink, I wouldnt come back specifically for the food.

My review might be a little different, there was no live music, we were the only ones at the bar! We stopped by before an absolute comedy show for my birthday, and they said it was before their opening hours but took us in immediately. The entire staff was beyond friendly and caring. Once our server heard it was my birthday, they brought shots for us all, and we were brought a free plate of nachos as well. Couldnt ask for more - thanks for making this birthday girl feel special!

I would have given the bar more stars, but I am not a fan of IPA of craft beer. We would have stayed longer if there was regular beer. They have a cool layout to the restaurant but the stairway down, isnt very welcoming. To very different looks from the stairway to the restaurant.

Such a fantastic night at a hidden gem. The staff is extremely friendly, the owner sat down and chatted with us for a bit. The cocktails were great, and the live music was amazing. Glad I was brought here by some friends, will not hesitate to visit again!

This bar have good food and drinks but the music SUCKS ! I was there for three hours and all they DJ played was Techno music. I think he just plays for himself and not the crowd.

Amazing Brunch!

Ive been there once and will definitely visit again. Its such a shame that I live in the area and had no idea about this place until recently. The staff are nice and polite. The place has a younger vibe in comparison to some of the bars in downtown Toronto. It is a nice little place to have a few drinks and listen to local bands. The food is decent, too. If you live in the area and want to relax after a long day of work, I would highly recommend this place.

I read some very negative comments about this place and I believe they re complete nonsense. Some people are just professional complainers. Anyway, I went there for the first time tonight and had a great time. Live band was amazing, atmosphere was good, I had a Gin and tonic and it was tasty. I even got to play some N64 at the back with a couple of friends. I do recommend this place.

Atmosphere is good with jazz but the food is awful

Great place. Went there on a Friday evening and they had a $10 entry as they had live band playing. Atmosphere was good and so were the drinks but the music was a little too loud for a place thats in the basement. This did not make for a good set up to have conversations. Price point is a little bit up for simple coctails but has a good menu for all kinds of drinks. Really nice staff!

I recently visited Function Bar, and I must say, the atmosphere and music were truly fantastic. The live performances created an electrifying ambiance that had the entire place buzzing with energy. However, there was a noticeable downside to the evening that left a bit of a sour taste. Despite the fact that the bar was only half full, the hostess was quite unaccommodating when it came to seating. My friends and I had a particular seat in mind, given its great view of the stage, but the hostess insisted on placing us elsewhere, with the explanation that the table was for more people that our party actually had. This left us feeling slightly frustrated, as there were many empty seats through the bar. In spite of this, the live music and overall ambiance of the bar managed to salvage the evening and make it an enjoyable experience. Its just a shame that the hostesss attitude and unexplained seating choices had a negative impact on an otherwise delightful night out.

Function is the only place in midtown that s consistently amazing. Adam makes the most delicious burger I have ever had in the city. It s so juicy and literally melts in your mouth. Miranda is always so bubbly and welcoming and slays every cocktail always delivering a well balanced drink. This place is THE place if you want great food and drinks!

Where do I start with this place. In the basement with not many people. Food was ok, drinks avg. a band member that identified as part of the establishment kept sitting beside us, interrupting conversation with awkward and inappropriate comments. No thanks I ll go elsewhere.

The place serves as a bar, lounge, snack bar, and restaurant. It offers a full menu, including apps, mains, and a good drinks selection. Both Guac & Salsa and Tacos we ordered were yum, and the drinks were well made. Prices were reasonable, and the service was great too. Highly recommend if you are looking for a chilled place for a night out. Not many bars in this neighbourhood thy offer what Function Bar can offer. They do have nice service. Waitresses were great. You can also ask for few games to play and enjoy your time. The bar hosts live music, but the acoustics of the place is bad. So not that pleasant live music experience.

Loved the bar ambience and music here. One can enjoy this place with friends. Suitable for couples too. I really enjoyed the music and band there along with their cocktail drinks and food. Loved this bar! Loved the sliders, and the staff was very friendly.

Although the design is nice, there are major things that would make you choose other places over here. The most important part is that they FORCE you to pay 20% FIXED TIP! and the annoying thing is that I didnt see the waitress much. Also I must add the place is super noisy, and the glasses were dirty, and paying 20% for it is unfair. Anyways I had a terrible experience here.

What can I say? In the midst of an overpopulated, soul eroded area you stumble across a place like this and it brings your Hope back for humanity in general. Yonge and Eglinton is cluttered with construction, tall lifeless buildings and constant traffic. Diving downstairs into the function bar is an urban escape in the best way possible. Great craft beer, great staff and incredible live music. You don t have to think twice about making the decision. Just go.

Asked if Kitchen was open, they said yes. Second waiter rushed us into ordering within 30 seconds saying they are closing and need order in fast. No recommendations.

Came to this restaurant in March to catch up with a friend and see some live music. Staff took our order and didn t come back. We were thirsty just waiting there for anyone to acknowledge us so we could order more (was busy but not busy ENOUGH for them to never come back). Finally interrupted a random employee to ask for our bill so we could wrap it up. After we paid we were chatting at the table and were asked to leave because they needed to seat other guests. I understand if you want to use the table for people who spend more- but we were never given the opportunity to keep ordering because staff never came back to us? So awkward and a little embarrassing for everyone involved. Food was mid. Won t be returning.

I do suggest to come here for drinks but not to eat. The place has great vibes but their food selection is very limited and it s not that good either.

I ve been to the function a couple of times. The drinks are okay. After 11 PM they don t serve food so be aware if you are looking for a late night snack. Their live music is pretty decent however we weren t told upon arrival that we need to pay an additional 10$ for the live music per person. After our orders arrived they told us if we want we can stay and pay the 10$ or leave. Keep in mind we didn t even have a chance to take a sip from our orders yet. Overall my experience has been okay but letting guests know they will be paying 10 bucks each for the live music upon arrival would be so much better than letting them know when they are already seated. They have Jenga and cards against humanity if you want to play board games with your friends. The space is also lovely and great for dates. The music is decent and food is okay too.

I loved everything about it! I just wished they would properly hang up their wall art pieces a little more tight. Two frames had fallen on my girlfriends head that night. It was funny at the time but not everyone has a sense of humor.

Weird vibe when I went last Saturday with my partner and his brother. Bartender wasnt paying attention, like he had his mind set on certain group of people. And no one was there at the door to take the cover $$. Someone came to greet us after 10 mins, we walked off at that point. Wont be back.

What a great spot. Upscale cool. Great cocktails and taps. Looks like the type of spot locals hang out and have fun. Great service. Live DJs, Live music, Open Mic Tues. I saw Albert Brook and man... Felt like I was downtown town and cooler than cool. Recommended. Bring Friends. See Greg at the front of the house. Hes great.

Honestly one of the best burgers Ive had while living in Toronto; the menu exceeds all expectations; midtown MUST HAVE!

Went with partner and had the pulled pork sandwich, fries and the vegetarian tacos. The sandwich was delicious tender, melt in your mouth, great sauce and the coleslaw topping was a nice compliment loved the crunch. Make this a staple on the menu, please.

Cool vibes ahead at Function Bar + Kitchen. Its cool they have an N64 and other games to enjoy. Their cocktails are nice, although a little on the pricier side. However, given that its prime Yonge and Eglinton area, it makes sense.

Best place in Mind Town to enjoy the Soul, Jazz, Blues, and Rhythms vibes in a Saturday Night. Very cozy low light environment. There is also tables for having food and drinks. Have literally nothing to complain from my first experience and I will definitely be back. Keep up! Cheers!

Fun bar and kickass cocktails

Didn t expect any cool bars near Eglinton station. Vibe was good. Music was sexy to chill and enjoy. Food took some time; but the quality wise? No complaints. Beer: they have interesting beer selections You should try their The sweet spot stout beer if you like stout.

Fun place with great live music! Awesome spot for a night out with friends

A lively spot at the corner of Yonge and Eglinton to get a pint. It is a bit hard to find as you have to go down a flight of stairs before you find it. Primarily a spot for basic drinks and music --- dont bother ordering anything fancy. We made the mistake of ordering some scotches and they had no clue what they were doing. But those who ordered beers did just fine.

I tried three different cocktails and they were all delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive. They had a band playing. They added a great vibe (and worth the cover fee). Food was delicious. Definitely going again.
