1544 Bayview Ave, Toronto, ON M4G 3B6, Canada
Your run-of-the-mill neighbourhood, family, sports, patio, trivia, 4KTV, newspaper, live-music, games, pinball, lollypops, wonderful saloon & grill restaurant type place
Was looking for a place to have sunday brunch. Food was decent for the price, atmosphere is typical cozy bar. Our server Anna was very friendly and welcoming. Has a couple vegan options, but mostly typical bar food.
Went in for a late lunch on Sunday. Place was busy. Turns out everyone else was just drinking - 4 of us ordered meals, and 3 out of 4 were unsatisfied with the meal. Lacked flavour. Chicken Kabobs were very boring. Wings totally lacked any spices. The Catch of the day (fish) was very plain. Enjoy drinks only here, Folks.
The atmosphere was really good. However, the food was the worst I have had in a long time. Only go here for a drink, as there are better places to eat. The Kabobs had no flavour and were served on boring white rice. Very bland. And the chicken wings were awful, and they forgot to put the flavour on them. When mentioned to the waitress, it was in one ear and out the other. Again the prices we pay today to eat out there are definitely better places to go to.
Great brunch selections and tasty meals. Service was somewhat slow given that there weren't many customers here today.
Came here for brunch on the festival day. Open patio makes for a fresh and inviting ambiance. Price was reasonable given the quality of food. The pancakes tasted generic out of the box. The brunch egg plate was ok, I didn’t like the sausages and the home fries felt like out of the bag McCain. Service and atmosphere while good, don’t quite make up for the lack of quality of food.
This is a wonderful neighbourhood pub. Decent food, really good value, and caters to pretty much everyone, including families. Every neighbourhood needs a place like this. If the beer selection had more local craft brews instead of interchangeable indistinguishable lagers, it would be even better.
McSorley's is OK if you go in person. Which is sad because they're food is great. But if you order be aware they're service is not great. McSorley's is usually a last resort if another pub in the area isn't available. They never follow the order instructions and they're often missing the sides that come with dishes. Tonight we ordered pepperoni pizza, fish and chips, and mozzarella sticks. The tartar sauce was missing from the fish and chips. The ranch dip was missing from the mozzarella sticks which my husband always looks forward to. I'm not sure why things are always missing with our orders. Once or twice is fine. But this is happening quite often now. Their in house customers seem to be more important than those that order even though we all pay.
We dined here for the first time and were impressed by their cozy atmosphere. I ordered the Cobb salad with chicken, and my partner ordered the chicken schnitzel sandwich. Their chicken (from the Cobb salad) was tender and juicy, which I immensely loved. The salad portion was also very satisfying. My partner also loved the chicken schnitzel sandwich, which was a huge portion and a great deal. And the most important thing is, which was so delicious! The servers there were amiable and chatty (-in a good way), and we felt relaxed and at ease the whole time. Highly recommend everyone to come here. The atmosphere, food and service of the whole bar are great!
McSorely s is one of those comfort places where I could walk in, grab a bite and a drink, and leave happily. Diego was my server, he was friendly and thoughtful all night.
Fun, comfortable place to go with friends and take the family. Kids of all ages are welcome. Go a few times and the staff gets to know you. New menu - some of the old favs are no longer available at all times and days
Excellent service and friendly too! Food was good! Would return!
Sadly, this is no longer your Dads McSorleys. What used to be the charm of Torontos best loveable and intentional dive bar, with a staff with heart-of-gold and self-deprecating humor you can only pull off when you are authentic, and a kitchen staff with cooks who took pride in ingredients and cooking delicious daily specials, this restaurant as been replaced by an expensive renovation inside which took away all character. The authenticity of Simon, peanut shells on the floor, magicians and trivia nights, and fast, cheap or good - pick two and the Dagwood are gone. New ownership seems to have cut costs, cut quality, cut staff... and after two food poisonings from what used to be the best wings in North Toronto three months apart, and expired cole-slaw served to a friend of mine that would keep flies away, it appears theyve cut cleanliness and quality standards as well. All good things must come to an end, I guess. This one hurts though, because I loved this pub so much, for so long. I will visit again, because Leaside is my home, so I hope they can turn it around (but Ill only be having drinks served from a can or bottle for the time being), and Ill be the first to delete this post and make a new one - or that they sell it - if they fix whats wrong... ...but this is an honest review. Cheers.
Great neighborhood spot. Foods not that great but drinks are goods and the atmosphere is relaxing
Classic local joint, Good for families with small kids and good place to watch the game
Great service
I guess it s the only pub in this neighbourhood; has a bunch of regulars who always seem to be prioritized over other walk ins . Terrible service as a result of this. Impolite staff. Food is your average pub food which is the only upside. I wouldn t recommend.
Nice to visit our old hangout from when my wife went to Glendon 25 years ago. Sure, the paint has changed and your feet dont crunch when you walk on the floor (the floor used to be covered in peanut shells), but they seem to have retained the spirit and certainly the good food. They lie about their bad service (running joke) - its really quite good, too.
Decent local spot. Good beers on tap. Not great on the food. Service is good. Friendly staff in general.
Great food, great atmosphere, lousy cocktails. Stick to beer! 2 years later. Good place to meet friends. Good beer. Dont come for the food. Food is mah... Dont order cocktails.
My friends and I always have a great time every time we are there. I really like the staff. Patty Emily and Elyse are always great for a suggestion what to eat or just a quick conversation. We enjoy watching the sports together as well as some great video games. Watched the Copa America and Euro cup yesterday the crowd was great with lots of cheering and having fun. Some of my personal favourites have to be the pizzas and the burgers. Can t say enough about the weekend breakfast always lots on the plate. I usually share my food with friends and staff as well. SERVICE QUALITY PRICE. You can t have it all but 2 OUT OF 3 ain t bad. See you soon McSorley s
The food is fantastic there burger is so juicy and fresh I recommend I have been here lots of times and I love it here it s so cozy and nice
The experience of being together in an old-style place where you have grilled wings instead of fried. The variety of beers is good, so you can choose according to your taste.
Love this place and the people that work there. Patty is a phenomenal Trivia night host. Thanks for making Monday nights fun for the whole family!
Great staff, beer and food.
Quality dishes with tasty choices and good selection of Daily Specials. Excellent service by all the wait Staff but Rebecca tops the list with her extra ever pleasant demeanor, always smiling face and choice of suggested menu items. Thanks to all at McSorleys. I am there a couple of times a week and have never been disappointed. The service by Rebecca adds to my overall positive experience of looking forward to my next visit
Restaurant doesnt follow the AODA Accessibility for Ontarins with Disabilities Act law.
Since I was a child, I have always wanted to go here as it was the local watering while growing up in this neighborhood. They have updated the place, and the food is good. The atmosphere is very inviting and pleasant. The only thing I missed was all the peanut shells all over the floor when I came as a teen.
Been going here since it opened. Tried most menu items and they ve all been good but my friends who were vegetarian, keto and had allergies felt limited in options. However they enjoyed their food! Great welcoming place for kids. Even many people eat on the patio and have their dog out front and that s welcomed too. Miss the Dagwood sandwich. Wish there were more dessert options. It s my local and I m partial to it Vegetarian options: Salads, wraps, nachos Dietary restrictions: Limited for vegetarian and those with extensive dietary restrictions as it s a meat and potatoes leaning menu Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly
Very bad quality food. The chicken fingers tasted like frozen boxed microwaved chicken fingers which they probably were. So we re the fries tasted like they came from a frozen bag and heated.
McSorelys is family friendly and a community hub. Always features excellent service and food.
Havent been in years. Went yesterday for the wings with a friend, they were great years ago and now I would be embarrassed to serve them. Absolutely Horrible. Server was nice.
I have always had good experiences here. Big schnitzel is good as usual and flame chicken wings(honey garlic) are amazing!
Great atmosphere with outstanding service at reasonable price - beer and chips etc.
Kid-friendliness: Loved this place to take my kids when they were younger and I lived there Food
I used to take my kids there on a regular basis and was pleasantly surprised by the renovation and the continued high level of service sans peanut shells.
Nice neighbourhood restaurant. Id go back. What everyone around us was eating looked and smelled delicious. Waitress was very pleasant.
Nice atmosphere, very food
We got all three! Great food, service and value!
Nice bar.
Great spot along Bayview! We have ordered through Uber Eats in the past and decided to come for brunch today. We really enjoyed it. Everything was delicious and the staff were lovely.
Been going to McSorleys for years! Love the food and the Trivia night is not to be missed!
Had not been in since beginning of COVID... everything was great...better than before...staff, food, atmosphere....miss the peanuts though
My first visit to McSorleys was over this past weekend( May 20th, 2023). Arriving around 8 pm, I expected the place to be packed. To my surprise, there were still spots available with a choose your own seating policy at this time. Quickly sitting down and looking over the various options outlined, I settled on a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich with fries as a side and a nice cold Richards Red. The fries and drink went down with ease with being lightly salted and smooth flavour respectfully. The sandwich felt a little dry, which was unfortunate since the bun was soft and buttery, and the cheese melted to a great consistency. Gravy was obtained to remedy the dryness of the meat, thus making the meal all the more delicious. Id say the local saloon would definitely warrant another visit as the hostess made the experience a pleasure and comfortable evening along with the great food.
Stopped in for lunch on the holiday Monday. A typical pub on the Bayview strip. Food was pretty good, I had the chicken and avocado sandwich. We also tried the buffalo chicken appetizer, wasnt the greatest, chicken was a bit tough. Waitress was great and helpful!
This is one of the rare places where we have been, and the atmosphere of the waitresses nice to see them happy and very professional with every single customer. Cheers to Trish, she is so easygoing and knows how to treat customers, very friendly. All of the staff was wonderful
Had a wonderful Arctic char special with quinoa and grilled vegetables. Everything was cooked perfectly!
reliable pub food in a dull ambience. limited number of patio tables. positive note: no music
This place was recommended by a Pro that did some work for me. Great suggestion Thanks again George! Thanks
One of my local favorites!!!
The service here is great. Especially the server Liana! She is very attentive and always has great recommendations. She is also very funny and is just an overall great server. The food here is also very good! It is obvious the cooks care a lot about their jobs as the food is always very good! This is my favourite neighbourhood place to go to watch a blue jays game. Also don t forget Monday night is triva night! Overall I highly recommend this place and make sure you tell Liana I sent you!
good place. good food. good atmosphere. some drinks are ok.
Awesome staff
The people are amazing sweet kind and friendly there is a pub in side for adults and games in the back for kids or the inner kid in you this is an amazing place for families to go
Good specials though online menu has wrong prices.
Great pub in Leaside. Friendly service.
We ordered bayview burger . It was kind of cold and taste just regular. It came with fries on side and the fries was super cold! And dry and really disappointing. About the service I have to say they were nice but they forgot to bring napkins and cutlery (for salad at least) and we needed to ask twice.
Free peanuts that are not peanuts money wise, free refills and nice place overall after recent renovations
Best grilled bbq chicken arms! Great spot to watch sports.
Too noisy!
The waiting staff was a bit antsy even though the place was empty. Everything else was average
My favourite pub in Toronto! Great for after-work drinks with pals, kid friendly but not too kid-focused. A nice spot to watch the game, catch up with friends, great drinks and amazing food on the patio in the summer.
This place used to be really great, but with rapid changes in staffing (presumably the fault of the owner, who I have heard is not pleasant to work with from former employees), the quality has absolutely nosedived. Our orders were taken incorrectly, took 20+ minutes to come out, and came out staggered so some of our party were served while others were not. Additionally, the food tasted like it was cooked with hatred as opposed to love. If you are looking for brunch, do not come here. There are many better places. Blech.
Of the 4 meals ordered, not one was delivered the way that was requested. Eggs cold, bacon undercooked, toast forgotten, fries undercooked, perogies poorly cooked.
Free peanuts to make you thirstier! Great sports bar with a nice selection of food. Friendly staff and cold beer, or not too cold if you order a Guiness... Parking: Street parking on busy Bayview Ave. Luck of the draw, depending on time of day.
I love this place!! The vibes are cool, the people are kind, and the food is AWESOME! I definitely recommend this restaurant. THEY HAVE THE BEST DECOR AND ARE VERY KIND PEOPLE!! COME HERE ASAP!! Kid-friendliness: My kids love this place! They have lots of food options as well!
Great food and service. Went on Trivia night on Monday and had a great time. Highly recommend this spot for their wings and nachos
Excellent service friendly personal. Wonderful environment. Definitely you want to visit more and more
After nearly 20 years of Mc Sorleys customer and friend, this place has turned exactly the opposite of what it was. Is just very sad really sad.....and shame on the one who did that to this really amazing and super friendly bar
Pretty solid place. Service a bit slow but super friendly. Had Leaside bfast, eggs and sausage, for 12 bucks. Standard food at v good prices. Looks like it has regulars at the bar.
Great little place if you re looking for some good beer and pub food.
Awesome folks that treat you well!
I Love Mcsorleys and it is the GREATEST PLACE EVER. And. Great for The family and kids.
My local and favorite Friday night hangout. Curry night Fridays, trivia night Mondays. A fun night out!
Great atmosphere, great food great service.
Everyone was so kind!
Despite their poster proclaiming decades of bad service it was excellent . Food satisfactory. Ample sized kids and adult portions.
All the locals eat here. Its a standard place, with standard pub fare. Prices are reasonable and service is always good. Consistency and reliability make this our regular go-to for dinner and a pint (or three). The menu has something for everyone which makes it easy for mixed groups of kids, health concious, vegetarian or grease seeking carnivours!
A great local pub for anyone in Leaside or Davisville Village. Very family friendly and the staff are great.
Favourite pub in Toronto! Great for after-work drinks with pals, kid friendly but not too kid-focused. A nice spot to watch the game, catch up with friends, and slam some pints on a patio in the summer.
Kid friendly, good selection of beers. Light lunches available, daily specials.
Great place and atmosphere to watch games and have good food
It was ok but not great.
Great neighborhood spot with a local feel and great food. Used to come here years ago when I had cable to watch games. Glad to see they made it through the worst of the pandemic. Good luck to them!
Great atmosphere and a wonderful community spirit. Dropped by cause I was in the neighborhood. Everything you need in a local bar. Brighter than expected, guess im too used to dark and dingy pubs. Food is a bit expensive. I rated lower b/c whatever I ate or drank made me feel ill. And I never have bad experiences. My number was finally called. Nice joint though. Id give it another chance.
I had wings and it comes with the whole wing attached was interesting eating it. My husband had a club. The food was good and the beer was cold and served with a smile
The volume of the trivia night host was far too loud. A table conversation was not possible. I would recommend having the game start later in the evening. The fries in my meal were overcooked and coldish.
Great for a pint. Eat the cauliflower.
Nice patio set up. Great lunch menu and service was perfect. Very enjoyable.
Great place for a nice casual date or beers with the fellas. Great for anytime but also during sporting events. Very chill and good prices.
Fantastic staff....and... Goodness gracious! They have a pinball machine. I feel bad for the staff, but it was damn good. Jurassic Park. Had the burger, great! 30-40 for a meal with tip?
Good pub food, good beer, friendly attentive staff
great neighborhood pub!!!!!!!!!
It is always a great experience dining here. The food is amazing & service 5-star!!
Amazing beef dip
Nice restaurant/pub; kid friendly, good food and good value. Staff are friendly, and in our most recent instance, we were treated to a magic show by one of the staff who was going around entertaining some of the kids. Would recommend and will be returning.
Always a great time here day or night the staff is awesome.
Not my first time visiting and definitely wont be my last Had the Banquet burger this time - housemade chuck with no fillers. Delicious and huge! Friendly, helpful service My only regret is forgetting to take pics....wolfed it all down before I remembered
Great location. Was heading to the Pottery Road Festival. Stopped off couple of martinis fish tacos service was outstanding
Good food nice people!
Its changed inside, but still good to see my old local
It is great food with plenty of tvs and sports 5 Stars!
In the hood. This is the clubhouse. Pub food, lots of screens, good service, patio and friendly bar crowd. Always family friendly. Try the Chile and The Nashville chicken bite. Spicy
Food was somewhat uneven. Carrot coriander soup was bland. Pad Thai was ok but I wouldnt recommend it. The shrimp appetizer was something I would go back for. Why is it only available Wednesdays? Liked the atmosphere and the friendly service.
Truly wonderful. Great service and great pub games, too. Only drank a pitcher, so cant speak to the food, but I have a feeling it would come quick and be delicious.
This place has been a staple for years a friend brought me here and Ive brought many friends here. Great food and good environment and has never disappointed
Its all good but smells like cum
Very friendly staff but let down by food that took a while and was cold. Kid-friendliness: Highchair ready to go and coloring things for my son Food : 3/5 |
Great place to watch games and share some food. I watched the final FIFA World Cup there. They serve a good breakfast. Kind staff, and clean space. Food : 5/5
Very friendly....
We met Kathy today. She was wonderful and pleasant. Thank you Kathy for the lovely experience. Wish you luck. Lovely food.
Great place, great service. Will return.
Good food, good atmosphere.
Love this local place!
Ordered a few Caesars on a Sunday evening at 12 bucks a piece on a day they advertise 8 bucks for a double shot Caesars. Not impressed.
Pizza is out of this world. Easily the best pub pizza I ve ever had, and possibly the best pizza in the neighbourhood. Other stuff on the menu is also really good. Perfect spot to grab a drink and watch a game.
Excellent staff. Courteous and professional. Great food. The steak is beautifully seasoned, however Id prefer it a bit more pink.
A nice location with good food and excellent service. The patio was a little too crowded for me (but not to the point that I wouldn t go back). Pricing is fair. And portion sizes are good.
Drinks were reasonably priced - not sure about the other reviewers, but we certainly enjoyed our cocktails. The cauliflower appetiser was amazing as well! Great spot for social drinks + quick bite.
If you like bar-food this place might be for you! Tasty food lotsa beverages as friendly fast service.
Solid food. Pilsner in the proper mugs. Lots of TVs so each seat can see a screen. Great spot!
Great atmosphere, drinks and food! Will always go back.
Great food !
We made reservations for patio and it was very busy. Food was very delicious.
Unfortuneately, an experienced cook is needed, the brunch food is definitely not as it was and have been eating happily there regularly for nine years. If someone cant make a tasty egg omelet, then they need cooking lessons.Very disappointed. Menu limited. I will be glad to come back as a customer when the cooking improves, I used to enjoy all the food items prior to Covid. Restaurants need to offer good, tasty food if they want returning clientelle. Staff is friendly, atmosphere nice for families.
Well they dont skimp on the amount of food but I got a chicken, bacon avocado sandwich and the bun was damp on the bottom half and the poutine was alright, better than some but lacked in flavour
Buenos!
This place is awesome kinda yuppies thats in my dreams great place I would go back
Best restaurant ever
Good eats the broccoli soup was good and steak and shrimp
A wonderful family atmosphere with great daily specials.
Highly recommend to anyone
Great neighborhood pub in Leaside. Being a staple on Bayview Avenue for nearly 30 years, this place is cozy, reasonably priced, and conveniently located in the heart of midtown. The food is very good but if youre not extremely hungry or would like to save your money for alcoholic libations instead, McSorleys will treat you to enjoy as many free peanuts as you can eat. Having said all that, the magic of this place lies on the people who runs it and a very, very friendly staff that cares for your needs. If youre looking for a poshy boring place this is not the place for you. However, if you want to feel cared for in a pub that not only has great food, ambiance, draught selection, and above all friendly staff, then this is the place for you. I know Ill continue to happily come back to McSorleys for years to come. Maybe you will too if you give it a try tonight.
Great atmosphere and eats.
Fantastic as always. Wonderful place for kids couples and singles. Proper adult establishment
A chill, casual pub with friendly staff. In the summer, people do smoke quite close to the patio but to no fault of the restaurant. The peanuts are a fun touch.
The perfect local pub in Leaside! Chicken wings are charbroiled and big full wings. Big carrot and celery sticks . Healthy portion of delicious fries! Great make your own pasta on Thursdays. Always busy and vibrant! Servers take turns and you never have wait. Love this place!
Foods good fun local bar restaurant
Excellent
Up there with the best wings Ive had since moving to Toronto. Very tasty and reasonably priced. Looking forward to coming back.
I was a little worried about finding vegetarian options at McSorleys based solely on the appearance of the place, but looks can be deceiving. Its primarily a meaty menu, but there are a few veggie options. I had the beyond meat burger with sweet potato fries and it was delicious. The service was great, and I have to leave it at that because the review page wont let me see what Im writing as Im writing it, since its covered by the pop-up keyboard and not scrollable. Great job, Google/Android.
Great food and nice people
Good as usual
Saw it as a stereotypical American style place i.e. wings and beer but the food was much more than that and great quality. Good spot to watch the football aka soccer.
Great spot to catch a game and enjoy a few drinks!!
Good pub food, okay selection of beers, nice ambiance and great service!
Great neighborhood pub / restaurant. The char-grilled wings are a favourite.
Always great at Mcsorleys. Very mindful of covid restrictions! Good service
Nice covid setup
This is a friendly, unpretentious pub and restaurant.
This is our go to, on the block, second from our home sweet home, local restaurant. We are not alone in calling it home away from home local grub. Servers are always serving. The food is never bad enough to send back to the kitchen and we are never ignored. Mcsorleys has every personality of server you could ask for.
The food is always satisfying, tonight was a delicious mushroom soup then a wonderful confit of duck with Greek potato and amazing Brussels sprouts. Samantha is always pleasant as are rhe rest of their attentive staff.
