120 Centre Island Dock, Toronto, ON M5J 2E9, Canada
Centre Island’s seasonal, waterfront eatery offers BBQ, burgers & brews, on one of Toronto’s most spectacular patios & city views.
Please do not waste your money on this place! $20 for a burger that we couldn't even finish. Cold bun, barely warm previously frozen meat - it was just horrible. Ribs as well, barely warm, you can feel the meat is old and was frozen for a while before it was cooked. And the prices!!! Insane So sad that the owners have the privilege of a beautiful location and the amount of tourists do not care at all about the quality of food or service.
Honestly, I don’t normally do food reviews, but our experience unfortunately warranted it. We got the Island Tacos (Brisket), BBQ Baby Back Ribs, and the Pacific Power Bowl. Ribs were cold and not slathered with enough sauce, not enough flavor. Island tacos were also cold and flavor profiles were ok. Power bowl had basically al dente brown rice and the flavors did not mesh well together of the other elements (kimchi and radish were too salty, not enough flavor on edamame.) Flavors did not balance out. Service was okay, a worker was rude to my dad when he was inquiring about the drink options in the patio. Basically, you’re better off eating something on the mainland or packing your own food if you’re visiting the Toronto Islands. Not worth the price, save yourself the 70 bucks! Only nice thing was the view from the patio.
Oh, boy. Strap in because this review is going to save you $$, and possibly your sanity. My family and I made the brave decision to visit this "establishment" on August 24th, ’24 and let me tell you, it was an experience. Not the good kind, though. More like the kind of experience that makes you question all of your life choices up to that point. So, this review is my way of helping you avoid wasting money. First off, this place? Total pit. And I don't mean a BBQ pit where delicious things happen. Nope, this is more like the kind of pit you accidentally fall into and spend hours clawing your way out of. They are producing some of the worst excuses for food I've ever tried to eat. Seriously, halfway through, I started looking around for hidden cameras, convinced I was being punke’d! Now, let's talk about The Bad: I ordered the ribs ($27), fully expecting smoky, juicy goodness with BBQ sauce dripping off both sides. What I got instead? Ribs so dry they could double as sandpaper. No sauce on the other side & a few strokes on the top. Not even full coverage. I asked my daughter to go ask for an extra sauce and they declined to give her one saying, "We do not just give out free sauces". LOOK AT THE PIC. YOU DIDN'T EVEN SAUCE MY RIBS! (My wife then stepped in and got me the sauce in the pic). DRY DRY, I'm talking Sahara Desert levels of dry here. I'm pretty sure these ribs were cooked sometime back in the prehistoric era and then reheated by “Chef Mic” minutes after my order. They were so dry, beef jerky would've looked at them and said, "Whoa, maybe hydrate a little?" Even the birds circling outside took one look and decided they'd rather starve than touch those ribs. If you see the pic And the burgers: Yeah, that's not beef. That's... something. I'm not entirely sure what, but if I had to guess, I'd say it was a mix of filler meat and regret. As for the taste, well, let's just say the best thing I can say is that it was unforgettable, but not in a good way. The chicken strips: The coating was doing its own thing, clearly not interested in hanging out with the chicken. This isn't food, folks; it's a breakup on a plate. **Washrooms should have police tape around them. But hey, not everything was terrible. The Good: The sweet potato fries were decent, as were the regular fries. Also, the drinks and beers were solid, probably because they didn’t try to cook them. So there's that. Listen, do yourself a favour. Get Pizza Pizza, Subway, or just chew on your shoe - anything is better than what you'll get here. Don’t waste your money at this place; they clearly don't deserve it. And if you decide to go anyway, well, that's on you. Consider this your warning. Total bill $137 HARD EARNED DOLLARS!
The patio was very nice with a great view. Lots of seagulls though and you have to watch your food or they will come snag something off of your plate lol. The food wasn’t the best I’d say. I had the pulled pork sandwich and my boyfriend had a beef burger. The pulled pork was ok but I wish it was more flavourful. My boyfriend said the same about his, very bland and also made his stomach hurt.
Good atmosphere on the patio. It is very calming and nice view of the main city. We ordered the tandoori chicken wings and it was amazing. The portions are a bit small for the price. They offer alcoholic drinks too such as beer and cocktails.
served quickly but the brisket was completely cold. strange that in a place that claims to serve “10 hour smoked brisket” there is no smell of smoked meat but you can very much smell the pizza pizza across the way. probably the worst burger i’ve had, similar taste to a frozen one cooked at home. my partner had the chicken burger and said it was very soggy and overall not enjoyable and the fries looked and tasted exactly like mcdonald’s. on our way out we noticed that they’re saving, washing and re using the cheap disposable plastic wine style glasses for alcohol. gross, won’t be back, should have just gotten pizza pizza
Usually I expect food at touristy locations to be bad, and this held up here. The food was mid, not inedible or anything but definitely not good. We got the brisket and pulled pork sandwiches ($18 each iirc) the fries were decent but the meats didn’t taste fresh even though we went right at open - I assume they were smoked yesterday and just warmed up, so what should have been a tender, melty brisket was kind of tough and dry. The atmosphere was cold and empty (think cafeteria), but the service was fast though and the staff was very nice. I would recommend packing a lunch and having a picnic on the island instead, you will save money and have a much more satisfying meal.
First I'd like to say, the cashiers were great and friendly. Okay... now... THE FOOD IS TRASH!!! We ordered the Pulled Pork sandwich and Brisket. My sandwich was fridge cold and so was the Brisket. They didn't even attempt to RE HEAT IT. Trust me this meat isn't fresh... slow cooked maybe last week. The ONLY thing that was hot and fresh was the fries. It is so bad we didn't even bother to finish it. The cooks really need to improve or gtfo the kitchen. Whomever says the food here is good just smoked a joint and needed some food. It's definitely NOT worth the money. Oh wait... the Fanta drinks were good lol. They make you pay first because they KNOW how bad the food is. Any who.... this don't waste yall money!
closed all winter season and we didnt know it :(
Probably one of the most rude bartenders and terrible experiences Ive ever had at a bar. Totally unprofessional and sarcastic in a nasty way. Will never come back here again
Poor service bar staff very rude food bad
Nothing says summer fun than chilling out on a lakeside patio. Really cool place to visit.
Horrible customer service, a massive waste of money. Eat in the city. We ordered two meals, specifying a burger with no pickles and a sandwich with sweet potato fries. When our meals came there were pickles and normal fries. We addressed it right away, and were basically just told this is what s on the ticket . I explained that we had both very clearly stated our requests at the till and I even repeated mine. If you are not capable of taking orders correctly maybe don t be the person taking the orders they basically just shrugged and said it is what it is . Definitely not worth the $70 paid. Not to mention they ask for a tip before you are ever given your meals. Terrible
Excellent location but strictly okay food at 4x the price of a regular restaurant. I understand that destination restaurants cost more but 4x is a far stretch
I would have liked the dish I ordered, Quinoa, to come hot, even though the accessories were cold. The views are incredible!!!
Nice place for a drink whilst waiting for the ferry. Prices are good and they have a good beer selection. Good city views too.
A nice place with good food, they sell Sol, Mexican beer! It has an incredible view of Toronto.
The food tasted completely off. Spent way too much. No flavour with anything. Especially the Mac N Cheese which had plastic cup that contained its contents and that cup was burnt which is simply not safe to consume. Just go for a beer and patio view. Stay away from the cafeteria food that s way too expensive. Place is also not sanitary.
$26 for two mixed drinks...are you mad? Theft!!!
Awful experience. The timings listed on Google (closes at 8 p.m.) aren t accurate because they didn t care to update them. Most of their patio area was closed off due to wet paint . We walked in at 7:10 and ordered a pitcher, only to be kicked out at 7:30 by a server who barely spoke proper English. Hiring better servers who know basic customer service skills would go a long way.
Worst place ever. We bought burger which we paid over $50. It was the worst burger i have ever had in toronto. Dont waste your money. Servers are rude. Beers taste like pee
Food is an abomination It s a tourist trap it s not worth it at all Food was cold and overpriced If you wanna enjoy the view just seat on the grass area nearby
50$ Are you kidding me?
Food. Meh. Service is ok. You order at the front and they give you a number. Beer is ordered at a different counter. The best part is the view. You eat next to the water looking at the CN tower.
Great view of city and decent atmosphere love the deck
The food was very bad, we ordered burger for my child and the meat was really bad, the menu looks like from 90s. Imagine you get one of the best spot for restaurant and you ruin it, this is the best example. No wonder its empty. And people are just getting beer
We are in the middle of high season Summer and the place is disgusting, the food is not good quality but we knew we expected a better view and experience of the island, the place is very dirty for a food place it is really disgusting. The bathrooms smell bad, are dirty and some dont work. Tables not cleaned, food on the floor, napkins etc. The staff is inexperienced, so I dont recommend it at all.
Food is mediocre and expensive. Atmosphere is ok.
This place is like a BBQ themed Indian McDonalds (in a bad way). The truffle parm fries must be a prank. They have neither truffle nor parm, and the portioning is approximately the size of a medium fry from Burger King. Brisket is obviously microwaved. We know because ours was cold as the hands of a dead lover. So we asked the guy in the Coors Light shirt to give us a new one, and when he came back he just straight up told us he reheated it. The spice on the wings is fine. The wings suck. Like the actual meat is really bad. My advice: Steal the prison trays they serve the food on and try to recoup the cost of your dinner at the scrap metal yard.
Wonderful view. Concession stand food. Filthy. It s not a brewery or tap house. There were two bottled Canadian beers, Blue Moon, Heineken, Miller lite, etc. They also have mixed drinks. Food is mediocre. There was cobwebs and dust everywhere, it looks like it hasn t been cleaned in years. Gorgeous view of the skyline.
Canteen easy to access, but very expensive for what it is! 25 Canadian dollars for salad and croutons!!! 11 Canadian dollars for an interest-free chicken supplement!
Nice restaurants at a beautiful location - obviously you will pay premium prices for the beer and finger foods which are decent however I have had better !! Still suggest to check out to soak the views and enjoy a beer !!
Great spot for a drink and a view. Odd that its a cash only place.
Id totally recommend this place to everyone! The food was clean and tasty, and the staff were super friendly and professional. The bar by the water is a must-try. Ill definitely be going back to try more of their dishes!
I paid 27 dollars for a burger, it was a frozen burger, absolutely terrible burger. View is lovely, and location in also lovely.
Food is absolute garbage. Not worth the price even with the view.
A nice place with skyline view. Poutine was good
Pathetic service and bad tea!! Not sure if it was a server or the manager - he asked us to vacate at 8:40pm, even though we just got our tea and sat down. And the official time at the restaurant is stated to close at 9pm.
Rude manager and impatient staff.
Good views but below average, overpriced food.
I wish i could give zero stars. Rude management and servers, everyone was extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. Would not recommend to anyone and the food was edible at best. No thank you! Vegetarian options: It was only French fries no protein absolutely terrible.
Guys.. food was great, price was great, view was great. Yea I get it, why give the atmosphere a 5 star ? You know why ? Becuase they are on a literal island. How can you expect Gordon Ramsey, New York city type atmosphere ? They did they best they could on an island . Try the Tandoori wings with a beer.. Excellent !
excellent service, food was very good, beer was cold and a great view of the harbor.
Please don t leave your leftovers on the tables on the patio unless you want the very invasive seagulls to swarm the place. Otherwise, good food!
I visited on Friday morning and it opened at 11:45 and ran as soon as it opened. But it wasnt as good as I thought. The view and location are the best, but the quality and plating of the food is a little disappointing for the price. And I was scared because seagulls kept coming up to me throughout the eating.
View was great, and on a nice day the atmosphere is cute. That being said, I did not enjoy my experience at this establishment. Repeated my order to the girl at the register twice, and still got the wrong food. Went back to have it fixed, and was told that they could not do anything for me except charge me for a whole new dish. The employees were quite rude every time I spoke to them, and overall I don t believe I ll be eating here again.
Nice location
The view in the only thing that s worth it. Food is below average and the prices are crazyy. Would recommend just enjoying the view with drinks n maybe fries but nothin else.
One of the poorest quality foods Ive ever had at a restaurant in my number of years on earth. Customer service was meh but the staff were nice when you did interact with them...
Had a feeling that food wouldn t be great just by arriving at the place. Views were great of course but the food wasn t good at all. I had the pulled brisket tacos ($20) which wasn t even warm or hot at all. No taste and it wasn t even pulled lol got two big chunks of the brisket for each tacos. We also got wings and burger also wasn t tasty. Drinks were $40 for two beers and a cocktail.
For the pulled pork sandwich and the Mac and cheese. I guess this is more of a drink spot only since the food was very upsetting. The Mac and cheese was soft and not very pleasant. I was so excited for the pulled pork and I was nothing but disappointed. Thank God we got a kids order of chicken fingers because that was the only thing we ended up stomaching. I feel sick! This was a terrible waste of money please do not spend your hard earned cash on this you will come in hungry and leave hungry, lighter, and with less money.
What a great location BUT very poor service, dirty atmosphere below average food and over priced drinks. Disappointed on multi visits over the years. Hope the Manager/Owner reads these reviews and makes a change for the good. Will be happy to support and change my rating as a local who visits the islands 25+ times a year. Cheers
The view is great but it would be nice if they tried with their food. Also dont like that you have to line up twice if you want drinks. The fish tacos were more like fish stick tacos and the burger was very bland and a bit gamey.
The view is nice, the food is mediocre, but the washroom is disgusting.
Only went for drinks so can t comment on the food but is a great place to chill, look over Toronto, with a drink.
Expensive but food was nice.
A nice spot to enjoy the view and the sunset, be careful though because it is very popular and there are few tables on the terrace. There were a lot of seagulls on the tables but that s part of the picture
The place was average. Beer was cold and expensive but it s a tourist spot. We had the pulled pork sandwich and it was the worse we ve had. No bbq sauce and it s served cold. The hot Nashville sandwich was also blah. Grab a drink and enjoy the views but don t expect a great meal.
2 stars for providing hot food. I mean how can you go wrong with fries.
This is the restaurant that you can sit down and enjoy the breathtaking view of Toronto! New flavour of ribs, fresh draft beer
Food is fine, and a great place for a great view of the skyline CN tower and sit while waiting for the ferry. What I just didn t like was the slow service and no one checked on us.
Not worth the price. They get the tip upfront, when you even dont know their service and their service is awful. They just bring your food and provide no more services. Theyre forgetful and clumsy. the food presentation is like youre eating the jail food. The food does not have a good quality.
Toronto Island BBQ & Beer Co. is Centre Islands premier waterfront eatery, offering a delightful selection of BBQ, burgers, and brews. With its prime location, the restaurant boasts an expansive patio that provides unrivaled views of the entire Toronto City skyline an awe-inspiring sight that rivals even the CN Tower. The patio exudes a sophisticated ambiance, elevating your meal or refreshing beverage to a truly memorable occasion. For tourists and locals alike, a visit to Centre Island would be incomplete without experiencing the culinary delights of Toronto Island BBQ & Beer Co. While its worth noting that prices may be slightly higher due to its popularity as a tourist spot, the quality of the food more than compensates for it. However, during peak times, when the restaurant is crowded, service may be affected. Undoubtedly, this is a must-visit destination on Toronto Island, offering the most picturesque view of downtown Toronto. The summer season enhances the ambiance, making it an ideal time to savor the flavors and indulge in the breathtaking sunsets that will leave you mesmerized. Immerse yourself in the extraordinary experience of Toronto Island BBQ & Beer Co.
Theyre forgetful and clumsy. the food presentation is like youre eating the jail food. The food does not have a good quality.
The food was pretty good but the views are unbeatable. You get to eat outside in the sun while enjoying the entire Toronto skyline. Definitely recommended.
Food was good service was friendly but it is not full service, you order your food and soft drinks from the inside counter they give you a number and they bring your food to your table. If you want to order beer and other alcohol is is located at the outdoor bar on the patio. The view is fantastic. My only complaint is they need to clean off and wipe off the tables more frequently.
Cold burger. A touch of nothing in the salad. Uninterested staff. Taste, yes. You eat better with a chain with the M. No recommendation. The only highlight... the view of the Toronto skyline.
Love the owner! So professional and friendly. Thanks for a great first experience!
Average restaurant, the food I had was good but not exceptional. The view of the Toronto Skyline was exceptional. +You have to watch out for seagulls so they dont steal your food.
Highly overpriced food that just isn t good.
Grungy. Staff kept calling customers boss as in yes boss which I found cringy. Food
Beautiful place.
The patio has a good view but the washrooms are far away and the beer selection leaves much to be desired. I d recommend going to the Toronto Island Marina for drinks.
Line up and place your order and pay for your food. Then it is delivered to your table. Jug of beer 35$. Wow!!! Other than that, its a great place.
Fantastic Service! Held a team event here and the staff was so attentive. Food was served buffet style hot. Beautiful view of the skyline. Oh and have the sangria!
Food is too mediocre, patoi is beautiful, it s an amazing view
Food is all premade on hot tables in the back and they just put it together for you as ordered. A little pricey but it s reasonable since it s on the island and it s better than a overpriced Subway sandwich just because you re on the island. Would definitely return. The food was generally good for what you could expect. Only thing I would mention is the coleslaw portion being a little small for the price. I believe it was about $15-20 per person.
The only thing nice here was the beer LOL , because it wasn t made by them. Otherwise the food is total waste of money.
Great food and view
Perfect spot for dining in Toronto Island. Lots of beer option along with delicious food.
The food really sucked and the prices were outrageous for what you got. The atmosphere and the view somewhat made up for it but I think you get it without having to pay for it LOL if you want to be safe get pizza pizza or a Subway sub youll probably be happy.
Food is pretty average, it does the trick when youre hungry. Portions are fairly large but itll cost you an arm and a leg in exchange. The view is unmatched and easily the best part of dining here.
I only gave one star because the food was edible, but barely. Went for lunch with my wife and two kids and it was like we were in a ghost restaurant - very creepy vibe. Service was super lax and the restaurant was filthy. My wife went to get a beer and the bartender said she wasnt ready to serve, although the place was open for 30 minutes already. $100+ total for barely edible pork sandies and run of the mill chicken tenders and fries. Stick with some gourmet eats like the Subway next door!
I got a Nashville sandwich without the coleslaw on it due to preference and was still charge the regular price ($20) with hardly any sauce on it. I asked for more sauce and was told to pay extra for sauce. Even though I paid the price for coleslaw that I didn t get I should not be paying for more sauce that they barely put on my sandwich. Food tasted okay but service was horrible. One of my family members sandwich bun was frozen. Won t be coming back for a while
Hilarious quality of food You are essentially coming here for the view and atmosphere, which could have been nice if there weren t wasps and seagulls attacking and extorting the overpriced food every five seconds. We had to relocate and retreat every minute. Experience was terrifying; food was terrible.
One of the best hidden spots in Toronto
Nice and calming place
Good place to eat on Toronto Island, the pulled pork on a bun was great. Sadly they were sold out of short ribs the night I was there, but maybe next time.
Best menu! best view of the city! best place to be on the Island! Island Tacos (brisket) Superb! Real Island feel- kids love it here. Close to the ferry- excellent end to a fabulous day. Highly recommend!
Great view . Good food
Super awesome place to eat, chill and enjoy a beer before catching the ferry back.
The patio has great view of the Toronto skyline and the food was outstanding. Brisket, Korean short ribs... delicious. Great food, considering its on the island its really special. Kid-friendliness: Good kids menu the portions are generous.
This is an interesting place. No competition, so why improve - management style. Having said that, dont expect greatness out of this place. Have your beers, nachos and enjoy the view. The staff is nice, but to them its probably a summer job so not 100% there. Watch that your drinks are actually prepared with the booze of choice you paid for, again not 100% there. Happened to me twice and one time I got an o.j. with ginger ale instead of a o.j and rum. LoL... go figure! Yeah, better stick to the beer and nachos. Vegetarian options: Not much. Salads are small. Think side salad for the cost of regular salad...meh. Kid-friendliness: Typical kid friendly chicken fingers and fries. Ours were a bit spicy so our child could not eat them. Parent tip. Wheelchair accessibility: From the ferry to the restaurant patio the place is barrier free.
Over priced low quality cold food.
Service is friendly and quick. The pulled pork wasnt as fresh as it could have been. If you sit outside by the river, watch for *fire ants* -- we did and still got bit two or three times. Fire ants love water, so I sympathize with the owners of this waterside restaurant. However, they could do two things besides regular cleaning: 1. place ant baits around the perimeter of the patio. These contain a slow-acting poison that ants carry back to the colony, eventually eliminating the entire colony and making way for Toronto Islands other, less bitey, insects to take over. 2. in the vegetation by the patio railing, plant mint, lavender, and rosemary, which have ant-repelling properties.
The food here is the worst I have ever tasted in Toronto. I ordered the half chicken that was not cooked properly. It was still pink inside. I asked for a hamburger instead which tasted like the coals and the fire starter fluid. Just awful I will not be returning to this restaurant. For $75.00 I told my boyfriend next time we are coming to the island we will eat on land at a restaurant that we are familiar with before we go to the island. Or pack a picnic basket.
Very enjoyable experience. The pulled pork sandwich was delicious and the views from the patio were amazing. Keep up the good work.
Dont miss the brisket
The smoked meat was hard, cold and full of fat. I recommend saving the money and eating somewhere else.
Tourist catcher in all its glory. Caesar Salad is actually just green salad and croutons Terrace level you must fight with the food-stealing seagulls. What more can I say? We should have come back to eat in Toronto. A positive bridge, speed of service and view of Toronto
We shared a brisket. It was tasty Food
The staff there was friendly and the food came pretty quick which was great. The scenery was so beautiful, the night sky was breathtaking.
The outdoor seating was nice. service was ok. What you expect for a quick service restaurant. I will say the girl working the bar was super sweet. But the food . Half of it inedible the other half tasted mid. House pickles were bad and idk how you mess up pickles. And the $7 coleslaw had definitely gone bad. We told someone but nothing came of it. Wouldn t go back for food ever. Go to subway or pizza pizza and then at least you know what you re getting.
Staff were not friendly. Ordered guacamole and nachos and the salsa was warm and weird tasting and the nachos clearly came from a bag of store bought chips. The view was nice but seagulls were swarming us everywhere
Beer and non-alcoholic very expensive!
Terrible food. Brisket was not shredded and tasted like it was out of a can. Go here for a drink and sit by the water but don t eat. Even the poutine was terrible, how do you mess up poutine?
Food was cold.
Amazing view
Saw a U2 cover band here, awesome night.
Food isnt the highlight, but the stunning view makes it a great place to chill with a small meal and enjoy the scenery.
Smoked ribs and half chicken had never seen the inside of a smoker. They did however seem to have been cooked in a microwave. Pretty bold move to advertise Smoked BBQ ribs, Brisket and Chicken and not even have a smoker on the premises. Good view of the Toronto city scape but thats about it.
Most disgusting food ever. The angus burger was inedible. It reminded me of those plastic wrapped burgers you can get in a vending machine. Crazy expensive. Great view though.
The food is terrible; eat elsewhere. The ribs were dry like jerk meat, which means they were already cooked and only reheated. I brought some friends visiting me, and I was sorry to get them to this terrible place. The only good thing is the location, aside from that this place has no good points. It is not a restaurant but more like a fast food counter. You need to order at the counter when you arrive and they give you a number. Do not waste your time and money here. Kid-friendliness: The kids will be happy here, with a lot of sun and a nice view of a beautiful city.
Amazing Caesar Salad. It was just lettuce, some croutons, and Parmesan cheese... Nothing more!
Some of the worst food I ve ever had. The pulled pork and the wings are dry.
Worst bar service. The server was extremely slow and was only serving one party for 30 min. Did not bother to ask others waiting if they wanted anything. Food was served cold and was totally bland.
Worse food you can ever buy , nasty , dirty utensils, dark place , no food presentation is like paying for garbage to be serve in a metal plate all the family hoy sick hard chicken bad flavour ribs putine is nasty over all nasty no manager. To speak with at the location .
The only thing that this place offer is a spectacular view, but the food was unbearable. They need a shake up of their chefs to survive or get any customers to come.
So much potential for this location and space!
Edit: Gave this place a second chance. The ribs were much more flavourful than they were 5 years ago. I really enjoyed the Island Wings with Blue Cheese Dip. Also, the Creamy Mac and Cheese was yummy. Poutine was good but could ve used more gravy. Overall, food was satisfactory and it s nice eating by the water. Still very pricey. *Note: smoked meat items are only served with pickles, doesn t come with any sides.
Right by the ferry dock/water taxi if you want to grab a drink or some food. I got the fries with pulled pork on top - the flavor was fine but the pork was pretty dry. Portions are decent though!
Great views of the city. The best photo of the Skyline from its terrace.
Disappointed in a basic burger in a restaurant that boasts BBQ. and so few choices of beer when there are so many breweries in TO.
The worst food one can buy in Toronto. Everything we ordered was below quality and a total rip off.
Nice terrace for a drink with a great view of the Toronto skyline.
I love this place!!!!
The view was great. We had just eaten elsewhere and the food prices were very high. You have to stand in line to order food and you are given a number and they bring it to to. This is much like southern BBQ pits but with higher prices You also have to stand in line to order drinks . Several times the line was long with only one bartender. We had Sangria it was wonderful.
Had a corporate event here, the food was surprisingly good (very cheesy Mac and cheese, and well make sausages and chicken), and the space is ideal for large groups. They kept it open for other patrons but I would imagine the experience for them was a bit worse than normal. The huge patio is also a good spot with nice views.
Except located on island this restaurant has nothing. Food prices are much higher then the offered quality. Its nice to go for walk, sit in patio and have beer. Our wing were on our table after 2 mins, I mean they serve you literally left over food for $23
Pathetic food ..hell expensive and gave cold food pre heated.. a glass of beer cost $12..
SO DISAPPOINTING. My partner and I visited just this past Saturday (the weather was gorgeous so the island was quite busy). It was a toss up between this place and the Greek place. We opted for this place as we thought it might (read: should) have some interesting beers given its name... They had Coors, Molson, and Heineken on draft. There wasnt much more available in bottles. There isnt table service in the traditional sense (which isnt the end of the world) but the line was long to order food (they only had one person working the cash) and when the food did finally arrive it was cold. They give you a number when you order, and then someone has to hunt for your table to deliver the food. It seems like they were short staffed. There was only one bar open, and there was also a long line for this. We thought my partner got the wrong order as it was missing toppings listed on the men. My partner ordered the brisket burger, but it looked like a really sad premade/frozen patty. I got the pulled pork tacos. While they were tasty (and I could imagine they would have been decent if warm), they also arrived cold. Both items cost $18 (maybe $20 for the burger) I think, which given the quality, seemed a little steep. The inside of the restaurant is dark and kind of run down looking. They did have a nice wrap-around patio that was right on the lake, but it was entirely occupied by some sort of half St. Patricks Day event. This may just be a case of unfortunate timing as I assume this was booked way in advance. Unfortunately, I would not recommend.
The vibe is good, although the restaurant is a bit far from the main island, the food and the price is reasonable. I would recommend to try this while most of the other restaurants in Centre Island are not as good as described.
I have ordered vegan tacos that was so bad and even that was cold and no fresh
I recently dined at Toronto Island BBQ & Beer Co., and I have to say that the experience left much to be desired. Firstly, the food almost felt like the chef was cooking in the dark. The taste was subpar, to say the least. The ambiance seemed promising, but it s clear that the place hasn t seen a thorough cleaning or uplift in decades. That s definitely a downside. I ordered their Mac and Cheese for $15, and what arrived was hardly worth the price. It resembled more of a quick microwave Craft Dinner than a carefully prepared dish. I even paid extra for additional meat, only to receive what seemed like leftovers from another plate. When it comes to presentation, I can t give them any points, and the service was just mediocre, earning a mere 1-star rating. In hindsight, I would suggest opting for an overpriced pizza across the park even though it might not be worth the price, it s likely to be a better tasting option compared to my experience at Toronto Island BBQ & Beer Co.
The service is good but the way they serve people is not good, they advertise that they close at one hour and they close two hours before and automatically they no longer sell you anything and all the employees go out to the tables and they just look at you badly. Lets see what time someone leaves so they can go out and not let you enjoy the food. My recommendation is better to bring your food and enjoy the nature of the island and not see other peoples faces and grimaces.
Good service and atmosphere, not the place for food ordered taco and guacamole it was a mistake wings were ok
I paid $15.55 for one gin & tonic. After I had paid and the gin was poured, I was told there was no tonic and would soda water be OK... without much of a choice I agreed. Crazy money to pay a drink that I didnt even order. Scenic views, though.
I did like
frozen food for mid-tier prices.
Amazing food great service incredible view a place that I would totally recommend going to
Amazing staff hard working great place to take your kids to go eat they always make sure that the place is clean also incredible food
Great view and food!
Friendly staff and great food! I would recommend the fish tacos!
Restaurant was clean and organized, and my food came within 5 minutes. Great place for the family with a nice view of the city and birds chirping overhead. 12/10 would recommend
The worse food that you can get in whole GTA, we ordered pulled pork and brisket rolls plus chicken fingers for kids. Pulled pork and brisket were old, I think they were left over of a week ago or more, very chewy, to cover up they added a lot of BBQ sauce to remove the bad taste and soiled condition. The chicken finger for kids was the worse thing that I have even seen in its category, dry and old. I just give you heads up , do not ever order food there. One more thing, their fries were soaked in salt, you cannot imagine how much sodium they feed you, definitely it is health hazard, City has to do something about this restaurant, they ruin the Center Island reputation. Come on, we have visitors from other areas, why do you have such a bad disgusting food there. Fix it.
The staff was friendly enough. The patio has a great view of the city, probably one of the best. I didn t like that they cornered off the area with that view for a private party. That corner should be designed specifically to showcase the skyline and for guests to admire. Not to be restricted, the patio is quite large and large groups can be accommodated easier on the other end. The food is mediocre at best and I m trying to be nice. Be careful if you are eating on the patio not to leave your food unattended or the birds will eat it. Also, be prepared to clean your own tables. Best for drinks only and to enjoy the view.
Great location perfect skyline views for a few drinks. Food not so much the mac and cheese tasted like cinnamon and my 11 year old would not even eat it.... The brisket was perfdct! I recommend eating elsewhere.
Stopped in for a quick lunch while waiting to catch the ferry. The menu has variety and the prices are fair. Tried the sausgae with peppers and onions, it was tasty. Nothing fancy, but definitely adequate. Would eat here again.
Grabbed their Brisket which was absolutely phenomenal. My friend got the Burrito Power Bowl with Grilled Chicken which he said was great tasting. We grabbed drinks and sat by the edge of the patio which has the greatest view of the skyline. We very much enjoyed our experience here
Best place to have food. I also enjoyed the magnificent view of Toronto from that place. I enjoyed having caesar salad with chicken and chicken putin. The food is amazing
I came here a week ago, i ordered hot chicken sandwich, angus cheese bacon burger, mac and cheese and haddock tacos. I love the way they present and the taste is excellent. I saw in the menu they do the specials as well but i have to admit that the timing for the food is very well maintained. I will recommend to everyone to come over here and enjoy the food and specially enjoy the patio. Thanks
Great restaurant with incredible view I had a Mac and cheese with pulled pork and it tasted great
Incredible view with great short ribs and fish tacos
This is so far the best restaurant where we can hangout with our friends and have the nice lakeshore view. We all know the food over there mind-blowing. So far my favourite food from here is haddock tacos, bollywood poutine, bbq short ribs, and specially bbq brisket sandwich its so amazing i never have the brisket sandwich anywhere else like that. I will recommend people to visit this place before the season ends. Its the best summer place to visit. Thanks
Hugely expensive mediocre place and the terrace is filled with seagulls. But the view is worth it in the end. Very nice place to enjoy those expensive Molsons.
Best food i ever eat but i love the beef Gravy and the location is awesome.
Unfortunately didnt have a good experience here. It was the only decent place to go to for dine in so we went. First the cashier got our order wrong and instead of 2 burgers she put one. We had to go and order again while everyone had their food. The second time she didnt put bacon and cheese for the burger and put only cheese. When we told our server she just said this is the only and didnt offer to add the bacon even though we paid for it. Unfortunately the staff are not so good at what they do. The food was ok and the view was lovely however the patio was very clustered with random things and not so clean.
Excellent food, very friendly staff
Amazing view! However, food quality does not match the price, and generally, the quality is very poor. It is an excellent option for a drink and refreshing the hot summer on the islands. I dont recommend it for dinner.
Decent sausage. Room for improvement on brisket.
We were a small group of students on a stroll on the Toronto Islands and we wanted to enjoy the landscape visible from the terrace. But the seagulls were disgusting: they flew around us, one landed on the head of a friend, took a piece of poutine in its beak to put it down further away, and to top it all off, frog on my fries and on another friends glasses. I threw everything away.
Even though only 10 people in it, tables were filthy. When asked an employee to clean them, he did clean them but blamed on seagulls for making them dirty. Lots of staff there but none to clean them without asking.
Food is alright, view is just beautiful. If you re thinking about going here I highly recommend going down to the little park right next to it.
Nice view and food good but not a craft brewery and no craft beer in September
Visited on a Friday afternoon with a group of 6 - plenty of room and were able to find seating right away with a nice view. Ordered some beers and a couple poutine dishes (classic and Bollywood), and both were so good! The seagulls were a little annoying, but overall, the experience and atmosphere were nice.
This place is awesome! We had a work event here and I highly reccomend! Good service, food and drink not to mention AWESOME views!
I love this place! Best bbq ribs in the city and the patio view back across the lake to the city cannot be beat! Go once and you ll be hooked!
Excellent restaurant with an excellent view. Order the brisket sandwich, ask for extra bbq sauce!
Nice spot with lots of seating and great views of the city. The food menu is fine but nothing special. It s a great spot for a drink on the island and on certain occasions there is live music.
Was pre made not on site, was poor quality and to be honest not good at all, however the pickels were fantastic. Bbq was gross. Pre heated nasty for the price I want fresh!
Very good service!
The place is old and rundown. They will bring your food cold and never come back again. Prices are ok. I ordered the Mac & Cheese and a hamburger, both sucked. Dont have big expectations when you go.
Disappointed that they only carry Molson products and can no longer serve the Toronto Island Brewing Beers. Food was okay.
Food is the worst and expensive. The person who seems to be the boss is really rude and rude. Please dont go. Its a waste of a star
Is it really that hard to post your hours publicly?
Good value! The staff helped us pack everything up and run to catch the ferry!
