Great service. Great food.

The ricitini and Stella were so, so, so delicious!! The staff took good care of me, and the bathroom and space were reasonably nice. The sangria in the first photo was delicious, but dont order vodka soda because its just expensive carbonated water.

Simphatic, happy, cool place with an amazing, heartful, cool owner, who is a real good man and advice giver! We are grateful so much.

Rex s is a wonderful place with a ton of natural light and a classic charm. The classic burger was superb and the staff were friendly!

Reviews on this place are bad. Perhaps they ve changed something? We had a decent experience. The 4 of us ate here for lunch. Food was decent, price is fair, service was good.

Me and Rex go way back.. Love the whole menu. Love the drinks and music. Very relaxed and laid-back over there. I always imagined that his bar was on a small island in the middle of the Caribbean sea surrounded by a beach and palm trees. Maybe one day..

Shrinkflation really hit the size of the chicken wings and stringy fries. Felt ripped off. Feel as if the owner is trying to cut corners with the food. The quality of the food really deteriorated since pandemic times. Used to be my spot and went back for old time sakes but decided that will never return.

The server forgot to take our drink order. Despite it not being busy. Thank good ness the bartender was there. We were going to order food as well but, the server never came back. 45 mins later she came over and asked if we wanted another drink or order food. By this time we had had enough and decided to leave. I advised her that I didnt appreciate her lack of service. No tip for her. We went to the Queen and Beaver around the corner on Bay and Elm. The server there was so great, attentive, funny and engaging. He was extremely busy but never missed a beat. I would go there next time.

Nice place within walking distance from my hotel

I found it very nice there. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. The food was ok. Not a culinary delight, but completely fine. I would go again!

Very poor service we were visting from Scotland & popped in to get out the rain for a drink and something to eat. My wife sent the red wine back as it tasted like it had been opened & left to sit too long. The waiteress took it up to the bar manager (luck if she was 25?! Definetley not a wine connoisseur!) and then brought it back over to us and said her collegue said it was fine. (No alternative offered ) My wife put it to the side & clearly indicated she wouldnt be drinking it and asked for a water! But it got worse 20 mintues later the poor girl who looked as if she was in training came over and asked us to settle our bill as her collegue was finishing her shift!... Sadly the wine was still on our bill very poor customer service! We were more polite than the bar as we stupidly still left a tip...

100% worth every bite. Great customer service a shout out to Chantelle my server for beyond service with a smile and rose her go to girl I must say great atmosphere and for Toronto the scenery is perfect. I ve been to and Tasted a lot of burgers from a lot of different places this is a must go to if you re gonna go anywhere in Toronto come here and get their ultimate burger, the bacon and the cheese makes it the real deal but the homemade burger is beyond perfection juicy and cooked to a t. The french fries, homemade crispy and seasoned. I don t write that many reviews but this is sublime!!! so tourists or residents if you re in Toronto or simply passing through, give this place a shot. There may be a lot of spelling errors on the menu but I guarantee that the food is worth the price and you won t be disappointed by the service if Chanele has anything to do with it! I give this place my stamp of approval five stars.

Good place at bay st , but service is just ok

Now renovated and rebranded as Rexs Bar and Kitchen under the same management. Popular venue for local service industry folks, business folks on the Bay St. corridor, and travellers from the Metro bus terminal. Menu is mostly pub-grub with a gourmet twist. The bar has 8 beer taps, a good selection of wines, and a few decent Scotches among other spirits. Rarely dull.

They charge you additional for the tap water.

Great service

Free rotisserie lamb dinner once a month with purchase of a beer. Wonderful idea. They had an entire animal on the barbecue on the patio on Saturday late afternoon. Too bad everyone was smoking cigarettes next to it but generous nonetheless!

Had the cauliflower bites, deep fried pickles and nachos . Great food made from scratch. Great service.

Really wanted to try the BBQ lamb dinner because I passed over a cpl times seeing the BBQ at the patio, but terrible service over the phone call as the server even didnot want to say one more word just saying it is uncertain and then hanger over directly, when I asked when they normally have the BBQ. Disappointed..

Good spot

The food was good, and the service was great as well. I just felt very uncomfortable being served because the server did not wear a mask. In feel that the restaurant should follow the rules for the customers protection.

Delicious food

I honestly have no idea what i walked into with this place. Zero dress code or consistency in outfits of the staff. Not a mask in sight, which I feel like is a violation but well skip past that... However, with all that being said, the service was super friendly and the drinks were good. I dont think Id ever actually eat here but Im giving it 4 stars because Im honestly speechless and the music playlist was on point.

Came back in August, had the linguine primavera and a glass of wine. Was pretty good. Staff was very very nice.

Decent patio vibe

Overpriced food. Rude service. I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken and there was no chicken even when I asked the waitress she said there is supposed to be chicken and salmon. Honestly the boxed Walmart salad is better and way cheaper. Mold in the vents when we looked up. Will not be returning.

Came here with a few friends and got seated right away outside on the patio. Our server was very attentive and lovely! Other than that, the drink menu is quite limited. Food was okay but nothing special

Incredibly overpriced and half of the drinks weren t even available! Server had no knowledge on the menu, which also didn t include details about the drinks (ex: alcohol %, type of beer, size of bottle ). Definitely not worth your money, much better places in Toronto. Empty patio speaks for itself

The best place for a late drink

We stopped in to warm up after a concert. Very friendly attractive staff. We didnt eat so couldnt rate.

Rex and his staff are always helpful, attentive and communicative. Always a pleasure having some late night conversations with them. They have a nice variety of drinks but sometimes they run out of a lot of things. Its still a great late night spot.

Great staff

Chicken in caesar salad was terrible (chicken has gone bad) and the server was very rude (Asian server). I regret visiting here as it ruined my day. I visited the restaurant on June 23rd around 9:30pm. I hope the restaurant train their server properly to have some basic manners.

I usually just come here to drink. There was no variety in alcohol or menu. It was tastier than I thought.

Get the shrimp!

Came to this place on a whim but was highly disappointed when I was informed by the server that my boyfriend and I could not order any mocktails because they were saving the ingredients for cocktails only. She said we could order a pop or juice and that if we wanted food it would be a long wait so it was discouraged since the kitchen was backed up. There were many seats open on the patio. No one actually had good on their table. And it was the only patio that didnt have an hour plus wait least. I see why now. Horrible service. How could you say you dont want to serve us something? Some people just dont want to drink or dont drink alcohol and shouldnt be refused service because of that. Obviously we left without ordering anything and choose to go to Jack Astors down the street after waiting for over an hour the bartender made us custom mocktails!

The worst Bar and Grill that you could visit in Toronto, ON. No hospitality, overpriced and no cleanliness in all means. Personally, I have not seen anything there to vibe on. Rex s is like something they setup just as a lucrative business. They must focus on the details of everything. Humble request to Rex s; just for the fact that you located in Central Downtown please don t overcharge.

I had the smoked salmon club sandwich. It was very delicious. I d compare it to the rusty nail s tuna melt (only a special when in season I think) in Clifton Park, north of Albany on route 9. Or my favorite the wreck sandwich special near KAPL in Schenectady ny.l off of hey 7. I m not sure of the name but it is a golf atmosphere restaurant is open. It s been a few years since I ve been there. It might be closed or have a new name. soo sad for me. It was a salmon fillet with bacon groceries and a basil mayo sauce on a bun. Mmmm!

The first lady that served us was great. The second one was unpleasant and seemed as if we were bothering her. The same for the drinks... first was good but the second was horrendous. Meh experience

This place is trash. Our waitress was vaping inside. Most staff not wearing masks. Food was meh and overpriced. 1 lb of wings shouldnt be 6 tiny ones.

The atmosphere is good

i came here on new years day 2020, in fact i am writing the review from the bar. This is my first new year outside india and i was very excited but the owner or manager or whatever he was, he was mean towards me. He even suggested that i leave the place because there was no place but there was a table. He was very nice to other people so i thought maybe i caught him in a bad moment.. but when i went to order he was still mean with a very negative attitude. I even asked him if i offended him and his response was no young lady its not you its just people asking for orders dude its a bar, ofcourse people are asking for orders. Long story short this place sucks if you are not a regular... well done canada ... nice welcome...

A very busy and smaller than it looks pub right across the bus station. They only serve drinks here but they did let us bring Uncle Testu cake from across the street. Staff was pleasant.

Service is excellent.

I came in on Sunday September 8th in the evening. The waitress was drunk and on drugs. I could tell because her pupils were dilated and she was incredibly obnoxious. When we asked what she would recommend since it was our first time at the restaurant she replied with oh idk I wouldn t eat here if I were you there s better places to eat. Then when I tried to ask her about the menu items since I have some food restrictions she looked at me and said girl idk what you want or talking about. Then she walked away. She came back to take our orders and I was the only one who wasn t ready to order since she wasn t being helpful and she still snatched my menu from me. Then when I grabbed another menu to look at she snatched that one too then walked away! I ended up leaving to get food elsewhere down the street. I will never eat here nor will I ever recommend anyone else does. I never got to eat the food but the service was AWFUL. if you find out who worked that night maybe fire her if you want returning customers.

Salmon club is the way to go! Super delicious! Fries are soft but not soggy. Sweet potato fries were a little crispy. I personally prefer them to be a little more thick. Will go back!

This is a beer bar close to the hotel. Although it doesnt have the same hospitality as in a British pub, I was able to have a great time alone. Shock Top Delicious. I want to give it 5 stars, but Im afraid it will look cheap.
