Follow @bredgyeats for more food pics! No better way to celebrate your carnivorous caprices than with smoky, juicy, and fall-apart tender American BBQ. There's nothing else that can replicate the buttery sensation of that juicy brisket melting in your mouth, like placing a smoky, meaty ice cube in your mouth to dissolve away. The pork ribs are no different, with a deliciously savoury and smoky dry rub that provides a slight sweetness and mustardness to balance out the fat of the juicy pork that squishes out.
Got the sampler platter and did not disappoint! Definitely recommend getting the mac & cheese as a side!! So yummy!! Everything was super good only thing I wouldn’t recommend is the sausage. Definitely worth a try!!! Ribs and brisket were amazing!
All of the meat on our platter was cooked very well. Friendly service. Things often not available or sold out so be prepared for backups. Burnt ends only Thursday and Saturday, so we will be coming back. There are unique soft drinks available as well.
I absolutely LOVE Benny’s BBQ but I guess we need some fact checking here 👀 It’s absolutely one of the best BBQ spots of Toronto. Delish👌In terms of the food quality, I don’t think anyone would question this restaurant. Seriously! I’ve never seen anyone sitting with leftovers. BUT is the atmosphere cozy and inviting? Mmmm I think you guys should stop writing your reviews with ChatGPT because it’s not warm, cozy and inviting and honestly I think there is a lot of room for improvement there. At the end of the day, it’s a BBQ place no one is expecting velvet cushions and white ironed table cloths but it could be a little nicer and organized. It’s giving like they’re getting ready to shut down when you first step in. 😅 Anyway, go there for delicious brisket and mac&cheese… the rest is story.
Benny’s is hands down the best bbq in Toronto right now - the brisket is fall apart tender and dripping with juice, while the side ribs have a flawless pepper bark with sweet smokiness. I’m normally a sauce guy but none of the meats here need it. What’s really special though are the burnt ends. They’re clearly made to impress, with a sweet caramelized glaze coating absurdly tender and flavourful hunks of fat and meat. It’s just what you want from burnt ends. Oh, and I’d say particularly unique to Benny’s is their commitment to making the sides stand on their own. The coleslaw is well seasoned with a lot of dill (I love dill), the macaroni salad has a unique and tasty dressing, and the cornbread’s jalapeño bits add a great kick. This place is legit, and I’ll be coming back regularly.
Love, love, love!!! We shared the Sampler Platter with coleslaw. Each meat was fabulous. Tons of food for two. We no longer need to travel to Nashville for BBQ. Benny’s is phenomenal. We will be back!!
With so many good reviews I don’t know what happened. Went on a Thursday right in the middle of lunch time. Ordered the $30 bbq for one: 2 meat(brisket, rib), Italian sausage, honey cornbread. Brisket was room temperature cold and dry, rib was tender not much flavour but decent , the Italian sausage was so salty (everyone at the table made the statement). Cornbread was legit though. In any event look at the picture…look at that brisket.
Benny’s BBQ is hands down one of the best barbecue restaurants In the city! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with a rustic charm that adds to the overall dining experience. The staff is friendly and attentive, always making sure that you have everything you need. But the real star of the show is the food. The barbecue here is absolutely mouthwatering. The Creekstone brisket is a game-changer - so tender and flavorful, it practically melts in your mouth. I’ve had my fair share of barbecue in Texas, and I have to say that Benny’s brisket will stand next to the top spot in Texas. The ribs fall off the bone and the pulled pork is so flavorful. And don’t even get me started on the sides - the mac and cheese, coleslaw, and cornbread are all delicious. I have been to Benny’s BBQ multiple times and have never been disappointed. It’s the perfect spot for a casual meal with friends or a special occasion with family. I highly recommend Benny’s BBQ to anyone looking for some top-notch barbecue in a welcoming atmosphere. You won’t be disappointed!
The food is delicious by all means , but the smoked bbq always come with baked potato they don t have it in the menu , if they added baked potato with different meat, chicken or even bbq sauce topping it would be amazing . the portion is too little for the price , the sides are very small like they give you one small corn bread only for the sharing meal platter I would suggest to add like basket of bread and corn bread and butter on each table . the decor could have been more cozy , fire place should be there to cope with the atmosphere And tables could be covered with nice sheet It will be more inviting for bbq place But food is 10/10 smoked tender fall of the bone turkey is delish corn bread is delish All the best and we will definitely come back. Kid-friendliness: You have to find a parking
Best ribs in the city! Everyone needs to try these ribs. Presentation Amazing! Taste Perfect! Cooked to Perfection! I am mesmerized by how good this meal was.
We ve been trying to get to Bennys for a while so we were anticipating the meal. In our group of three, two of us got a platter for one and one person got a brisket sandwich. The sandwich was tasty but small for the price. The side was a tiny coleslaw and some pickled onion/pickles. The platters were also pretty small for $30. It consisted of two ribs, and not large but maybe medium sized, with a lot of marinade/rub on it. Not a fan, but they were cooked perfectly. The brisket was very nice but very plain, with an edge of the same or similar rub. Luckily there was bbq sauce on the table. The pulled pork was really nice but again, no sauce but the table stuff. The sausage was so salty it was almost inedible(Italian). The beans were too seasoned and I prefer my beans a bit sweeter. But that s a personal preference staff checked on us twice while we eating, which was nice. The first time we said we were good because we had just started. The second time we made a comment about the over marinating and the staff Guy seemed a bit defensive. Overall we three agreed we would not be interested in going again. Also, the washrooms are gross. They are old granted, but easily able to be brought up just a notch by replacing the toilet seats which are a super cheap fix are extremely stained. YUCK! Just makes you not want to eat there
Great food and the owner is so nice. Definitely will go back!
Everything was delicious... The Brisket was incredible, super soft and seasoned deliciously, we will definitely be back.
Have been wanting to try Benny s for a long time. Finally got our order in before it s all sold out ! AMAZING. Our order was ready at the exact time. Side ribs incredible. Back ribs maybe even more incredible. Haven t eaten the brisket yet, but I have no doubt it s also 11/10. The cole slaw was perfect creamy and crunchy. The BBQ sauce is excellent. Even the pickles were perfect. A fantastic meal and experience. We will be back! Often!!
Our favourite BBQ spot, so happy to have it in the neighborhood. Their Texas platter for two is such a bang for your buck! Marco took really good care of us and gave great suggestions.
If youre in the neighbourhood and not sold out, you cant pass up the opportunity to eat here.
Literally the best bbq I ve ever had. If you like good bbq this is the spot. I m talking Texas standards here. Wow
Such a great spot! Highly recommend, tucked away at Yonge and Eglinton
After reading the incredible reviews, I was disappointed. As suggested, the Texas Trinity meal was great, but I expected it to be incredible! I also struggled with the amount of waste produced by the restaurant as you eat with paper plates and plastic cutlery, which are single use and thrown out afterwards. Benny s BBQ fell short when comparing it to Lancaster Smokehouse in Kitchener which has better BBQ meats and overall better experience.
Best bbq on Yonge street.
I almost don t want to recommend this place so people don t know about it.
Wow mouth watering tender brisket . Great atmosphere and absolutely incredible food 5
Hands down to the best barbecue i ever tasted We had an amazing lunch.. Everything was delicious, packed with flavours, juicy and tender
nice dudes and really wanted to like it but my friend and i felt the barbecue fell short. Brisket felt dry and tougher (echoing some of the other reviews on here, mac n cheese wasnt creamy or cheesey but kind of wet and bland. and the food came out lukewarm. Ribs were not fall off the bone. coleslaw was good. cornbread was bomb as hell though. moist and yummy. would go back for those fixings potentially. Maybe it was just a bad batch, might try this place again based on the reviews i ve been seeing.
Came with high hopes after seeing all the Social Media hype. Wasn t busy, and can t say he was the friendliest in terms of being welcoming. Decided to get the Ribwich. Holy-overrated. Untoasted bun, tiny piece of meat, sauce etc and $18? I don t like to dole out negative reviews-this is my constructive feedback. Toast and butter the bun- make sure a proper piece of meat is in there (not a dry end piece) maybe include a side, beside coleslaw at that price. Price point for that much sandwich is offside. I will return to try the other items and update.
We ordered a trinity for 2, ribs were too dry no juicy at all, love the brisket. Staff was friendly, lots of place to seat, side was just alright
I had BBQ Chicken wings with potato salad......Chicken was bloody...not fully cooked and not bbq . I feel like it was pan fried or who knows ....it wasnt cooked well at all.....no flavor no salt....it was terrible...potato salad wasnt good either....! Very disappointed
I was pleased but also disappointed. The ribs were amazing, really delicious and cooked beautifully. The wings were a different story. They were undercooked and needed another 5-10 minutes of cooking. I had to toss a couple of wings out cause of the blood in a couple of them. The Mac n Cheese was good but the sauce needs to be smoother. Would I go back (Yes) but for the ribs and I need to try that brisket.
Good!
GREAT RIBS GREAT OWNER!!! Go here asap and try them! I am so so so sorry I did not change this review sooner. Almost a day after I left a bad review after what was a terrible experience the owner reached out and was extremely receptive to feedback. The send my a gift card, they asked what was wrong and what was missing and were never rude even though this review has most certainly hurt their business. I cannot apologize enough. Amazing owner and amazing food!!!
Brisket was a hit with the family!
Food is good, but I ordered 2 orders of meat and only got 2 slices of bread and no pickled vegetables or barbecue sauce. Also, the portions are a bit too small for the price. Last time I ordered, I definitely got more for my money. I felt I should have gotten more food for $60.
Recently tried it out due to the hype this restaurant was getting on social media and I m not sure what it was all about. I tried their baby back ribs and side ribs, and turns out they are just OK. Not bad, but not great. The staff was really nice, and it s more of a poace for take outs than dine-ind (which is not a problem in itself). Wasn t the cleanest place though. While the price is pretty good, you can easily find better ribs elsewhere.
I went there first time today after all the hype online but I was disappointed. Ordered 2 sandwiches they were both cold (room temperature)The ribwhich was dry and tasteless but the chopped brisket was ok nothing special except the fact that was cold (room temperature). I really liked the onion which comes on the side
I was really looking forward to trying this place. Overall, the barbecue here is decent. Not great but decent. Most things were a little dry, The wings seem barely seasoned and ribs were a bit tough. Food : 3/5
Great spot with good classic BBQ, super friendly staff.
The best barbecue - side ribs were juicy, flavorful and fall off the bone. The potato salad was great too! Arrive early or call ahead as they only stay open until there is no more stock. Super friendly staff as well.
Bennys BBQ is always a fantastic experience!! Food 10/10, service 10/10, atmosphere, 10/10. Would highly recommend if your a big BBQ fan always hits the spot.
Unreal bbq reminds me of Houston Texas
This place has the best Texas BBQ in Toronto hands down. Very friendly, he even gave me a tour of the kitchen. I will be back 100%
Some great bbq from some great people will definitely be back for more!
Best bbq in Toronto ben and Jason are great !!!! New favorite spot
Great service excellent food
The best brisket in Toronto!!! Love it!!!
This has to be the best bbq spot I have ever had. Interior is lovely with the cool firewood touch inside, just great vibes all around. Will be back for sure
This is great BBQ. It reminds me of being in Texas. We ordered a platter with ribs, brisket, and replaced the sausage with pulled pork. Often, in Toronto, brisket is dry and overcooked. This brisket was moist and tender. They have a large beer selection and the sides of coleslaw and mac & cheese were generous and tasty.
Best BBQ in Toronto.
Best ribs/brisket in town
For us it was a very ok ok place! We tried the Texan platter for 2 and the portion was really good for 2 people! However I was not a fan of the brisket even though that was what I was most pumped for! The portion was extremely fat and as a result over powered the flavour of the meat. Another dish that I wasn t a big fan of was the Mac and cheese! It was a little too gloopy and not as cheesy as I would ve liked! But it might just be a preference! For us the star dish were the ribs!! They were so good and tasted amazing! The meat was melt in mouth and so flavourful! The people at the counter were nice and kind! The tables did look like they could use a cleaning and the place over all as well didn t really have a restaurant vibe. It was more like a covered shack with picnic benches!
Absolutely horrible place I called in because my order was cold the meat was so dry I had to put my own sauce on it and the bun was stale the guy told me I m trying to stage something and he wanted to fight with me! After reading all these reviews on here I m not the only one to have the same complaints please don t waste your money here it s a total scam place
I ordered a few sandwiches because I usually grab them in store. It is a comforting feel knowing that I will get the same quality food from when I order online and coming into the restaurant. There s a compulsion to get the chop brisket sandwich. The amount of tender brisket they put in it is just right and the bun wraps everything together nicely. It s a good feeling knowing that a first try visit has turned into a routine weekly thing.
Great, quick service, and surprisingly low tip prompts!
Came in the other day, and had an amazing experience. Definitely the best BBQ spot in the city, and Jason at front cash was super friendly and helpful.
This is quite literally a hidden gem! Dont come before closing because I heard it can be sold out?! I ordered the special for two - there was 3 of us and we left stuffed. The food is great and as an added nice touch, they have some cool, rare canned soft drinks! Great selection. Service was A1 too - well done all around.
Ill make this short and easy everything on the menu is
Food was delicious and Jason and the guys were great.. recommend the Texas trinity with the baked beans and the potato salad. Great combo and nice guys
Good food, good service, good beef
Adamson or some one who worked there..has to be. Exact same menu.
The perfect bbq joint. Rustic with a hidden gem feel everything is great and excellent value for money. I d eat here every day but I would die. 9.5/10
Best BBQ in the city!
Finally made it to Bennys BBQ and it didnt disappoint. Ive been wanting to come and try this place for a long while now and I finally got the chance. The food and staff (especially Nicholas) were awesome! I was really happy to see they have some space to dine in after you get your food. The place is clean and spacious. To avoid disappointment, I strongly recommend calling to pre-order whatever it is that you want. They sell out fast. I ordered the day before we planned to arrive. There were 4 of us dining. We pre-ordered the Texas Trinity for 4 and added extra brisket and pork belly burnt ends. We especially enjoyed: - Beef brisket - very flavourful, juicy and super tender - Pork belly burnt ends - sweet and a bit chewy on the outside and very tender on the inside - Pork side ribs - literally fell of the bones and very tasty THANKS Bennys staff! Cant wait to go back! Parking: Streets parking - be careful parking on the northern bound side of Yonge Street in front of the restaurant area towards the end of the workday. There is no parking between 4 PM and 6 PM. You can park on the southbound side during those times with no issue. Make sure to read the parking signs very carefully.
I really wanted to like this place. I live in the area and showed up to the restaurant at around 3pm. I got the brisket sandwich. The people working there were nice. None of the food was served hot. The beans were lukewarm at best, the coleslaw was fine, cornbread was extra, and the brisket was straight up cold. not juicy and more stringy than tender. Please give me a reason to come back to this restaurant. I really want to like this place! I want a good bbq place to go to in my area. All the others are downtown
the banana pudding is my best friend
We ordered the Texas trinity for two which included 1/2 lb of brisket, 1/2 lb side ribs, 1 sausage, and the Mac and cheese plus beans, and a banana pudding with two drinks for $80ish total including tip. This was for two people and the portion was honestly so much we had a full meal leftover for a third person. Great bang for your buck. The food was pretty much flawless. The brisket and ribs were phenomenal and cooked to perfection which paired really well with the BBQ sauce served at the table. Really nothing to say here besides 10/10. The beans were delicious and served with this crispy onion on top that was a great mouth feel. Would order these again in a heartbeat. Solid 8.5/10 The Mac and cheese was a little disappointing but honestly I think it was due to the comparison against the other dishes. Didn t have too much of a cheesy flavour and had a bit of a graininess to it, but honestly it was a decent palette cleanser. 6/10. The sausage was immaculate! We got the jalapeño and cheese sausages which were delicious. Would definitely order these again. 9/10. The banana pudding was DIVINE! So creamy and caramely with just the right amount of banana and pudding all around. It was our go to between bites to take a break from all the meat and salt and it was just fantastic. Would honestly come back here just for this. 10/10. Now onto the service: these guys are fantastic. Super nice and kind as well as courteous. They checked up on us quite a few times to make sure the food was delicious (which it waaas!) and were super smiles and positive vibes all around. What really impressed me was when I went to pack my food and a member of staff saw me wrapping it up and dropped off a box without me even asking! Super observant and caring about their customers this restaurant is! All in all I d give this place a 10/10 and would highly recommend everyone come here for the best BBQ and service in Toronto.
For Barbecue lovers, Bennys is certainly a place to visit. The restaurant is close to the Egliton subway and has access to several bus stops, as well as shops, cafes, banks and other businesses. The space is rustic and relaxed, with an indoor and outdoor area for summer days. All orders are placed directly at the cashier. They have alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, meals for two people, one person and more people. Unfortunately, the place does not have a large infrastructure to serve customers with disabilities. They do not have automatic doors, they do not have adapted bathrooms and the safety wheels are not practical. For those with children, they do not have changing tables or highchairs for babies. There are some private parking lots in the region for those traveling by car, in addition to paid spaces on the street. The meat is extremely tender and tasty and all the accompaniments are delicious. Damn good food! Got the Texas Trinity plater for 4.. amazing
Its ok. Not saucy just meat.
Terrible customer service, the people at the front were arguing and they just basically told me the were sold out like if I was a burden to them. This was my first time and I just wanted to try it, but I will never spend any money in this place. And if you re out close the door so there is no confusion and misunderstanding!
They truly are the best barbecue spot in town. Their side ribs and brisket are an absolute must-try. Every bite is bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the service is top-notch. Whether youre a barbecue enthusiast or just looking for a delicious meal, Bennys is the place to go. Highly recommended
Cool little BBQ joint, reasonable prices, we shared the Texas Trinity which was really good. Their beans are out of this world, and the slaw was very tasty too!
Very solid BBQ spot and I would be happy to return if Im in the area. We ordered a sampler of many different meats and sides and were not disappointed. Standouts for me were the brisket, side ribs, beans, coleslaw and banana pudding. It was super quiet after lunchtime but the downside is that the days special was sold out already. The guys behind the counter were nice and friendly but Id say there is no real service. Removing one star only because for the price ($85 for 2 people) I felt they cheaped out by giving us plastic cutlery and paper plates. It feels like a food court more than a restaurant in that aspect. Otherwise though the food is 5 stars for sure!
17 bones for a stale bun.
All I can say is Go there. Brisket and beef ribs are unmatched. Prices are fair. Service is fast. Parking two blocks away.
Eating from here is like getting a primordial hug from Ben, reminding you what life is all about. Dont be surprised if they sell out of side ribs and banana pudding by 2 pm. Immaculate!
I was really excited to try Bennys, as a new midtown BBQ joint, and was completely let down. The brisket was dry and tough despite having a good layer of fat on top. The chicken wings were also dry. The BBQ sauce and the pickles were decent, but I shouldnt have to eat them with the brisket in order to give it much needed moisture. The cornbreads and key lime pie were good, but they shouldnt have been the best parts of our meal, the meat should have been
Ive been on a search for good BBQ in Toronto ever since Adamsons closed down I think I finally found it My friend and I got the Trinity platter with 1/4 lb beef brisket, half rack of ribs, sausage and 2 sides for $50, also add 1/2 of pulled pork for $9 Beef brisket had a nice outer ring bark with some good spice, the fatty slice was more flavourful than the lean slice. 9/10 Pork ribs had a great rub with good spices, tender and good smoky taste 9/10 Pulled pork was super tender and melt in your mouth. 9/10 Sausage were decent, nothing special 7/10 Mac and Cheese and Potato Salad were good too 9/10 Overall this place was fantastic..Ill definitely be back to try more things Came a second time and got the baby back ribs, super tender and fall off the bone but only when you bite into them. 9.5/10 Came back again for their 2 year anniversary and finally got to try the beef rib, super tender and melt in you mouth. Dont even have to chew. 10/10
Absolutely fantastic BBQ spot! The brisket was tender, smoky, and just melted in my mouth. Sides were equally impressive - the mac n cheese is a must-try. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere had that authentic, cozy BBQ joint vibe. Definitely deserving of a five-star rating!
BBQ was good. Salt and Pepper rub was different than what I am used to, I prefer more of a Southern+ rub (although Texas likes its S&P simplicity). Meat was cooked properly, so a plus there. The Mild Italian sausage has the most flavor so extra points there. Modest atmosphere. The service was Tops, nice and engaging 2 gentlemen. Brisket Beans were a nice touch.
This place was recommended to me by a friend. A little hard to find, because it s tucked in but definitely worth it!! Portions were generous, food was HOT and my server Jason was fantastic. Can t wait to come back :)
2 HORRIBLE EXPERIENCES: We tried going there a few weeks ago at 4pm, and they were sold out of 70% of their menu. The gentleman informed us that items usually sell out by the end of the day, so its best to order before 2/3pm. We took the gentlemans advise and tried placing another order today at 12:00pm (exactly when the location opens). Tried calling numerous times, no one answered. Then tried placing the order online which did not go through with no explanation provided as to why. When I got to the restaurant to place the order in person at 12:35pm, I saw 3-4 guys standing around not answering the phones as they were too busy. Then, upon placing my order, they informed me that once again that the items I wanted were sold out. All they had to do was pick up the phone and say sorry, we are busy and sold out of multiple items today. This is disgraceful customer service and I will never recommend going there.
Took the family today, food was amazing, worth the drive from Bolton
Best bbq in the city
For the $50 platter for 2 you get a rib each 2 sides a sausage and 3 slim pieces of brisket. Definitely on the smaller side for the price. The coleslaw we threw away the Mac n cheese was okay. The sausage was room temp but had good flavour. The brisket was dry as heck and tough. The ribs were the only thing that really stood out because they were tender flavour wise everything was just okay. The prices must be based on their cost and rent. Check out Memphis BBQ in Woodbridge instead. Way better flavour and more food for cheaper price.
Those ribs are something else and Im surprised I havent visited this hidden gem earlier. Had the BBQ ribs and the side ribs! My favorite was the side ribs, but they both were flavourful. A tad bit on the pricier side, but you get what you paid for. Highly recommend this place!
This place is heaven for bbq lovers. Everything they serve is tender, juicy, fall off the bone good. Its a very unassuming place that you wont find if youre not looking for it. Take the time to find it. It is in an alleyway on Yonge Street, hidden from view. If they ask if you have a preference for the type of meat you want, ask for the fatty. You wont regret it! Highly recommend!
Google finds.. brisket was delish. Happy we went. Parking: Street parking
Very nice people and great brisket. Super soft and juicy would recommend to get every TIME!!
Food and service are great here. Orders are always ready on time from my experience. 4 stars because it is overpriced just like every other bbq spot. Wcyd
So far the best BBQ Ive had in Canada. Maybe ever. (Note: Ive never been to Texas, but I did go to Adamsons once when it was around). Got the Sample Platter with Brisket, Side Ribs, Cheddar and Jalapeno Sausage, and Beans. Side Ribs and Beans were my favorite. Ribs were very tender, but not fall of the bone - which I think is just right. Beans were very rich, well seasoned, and satisfying. Brisket was tender as well, and the fat well rendered. The sausage was fine, but didnt do much for me. If I was to order a la carte, I would skip the sausage. The smoke flavor came through very nicely on all the meats and the beans. The plate comes with some simple white bread and pickles. Theres also a bottle of BBQ sauce at every table. Overall I left very happy.
The italian sausage was great, lots of flavour especially the fennel. Mac n cheese was good but the cheese sauce is a bit on the gritty side, not creamy. Pulled pork was very good and juicy but lacking depth of smoke flavour. Brisket was quite salty and not very tender, but it could have been because I was given a cut from the flat and not the point. Smokiness was there. Bbq sauce is heavy on the tomato/ketchup side, could be more balanced. Overall a decent bbq place.
Killer BBQ!! Wish they were closer ! Make the Saturday pre order trip ! Absolutely fantastic!! Love love love!!!! Food
Very expensive and the food wasnt fresh
As someone who usually prefers Asian bbq (I got dragged here), I have to say the food was phenomenal so I had to leave a review! Havent had Southern BBQ much but this has been the best Ive had! We got the Texas Trinity for 2 plus some Burnt Ends and a bottle of Jarritos Gauva (personal preference). Everything was so tender and flavourful! The thick pepper crust on the ribs and brisket were much appreciated! We chose the honey cornbread (very slight honey taste) and brisket beans (dont expect too much brisket. I was expecting none and theyd just stew the beans with brisket so the lil meat pieces were a pleasant surprise). Im never really a fan of American-style beans but these were incredibly soft and flavourful! Not a fan of Italian sausage personally. The Burnt Ends were chunky, fatty, and sweet. Will definitely be back! Tip: come early! The pulled pork, brisket beans, and cornbread ran out within the 1-2 hours of opening!
As legit a bbq spot you will find in Toronto. Side ribs were probably the best Ive ever had.
Ok so I took one bite of the pulled pork and was transported back to my childhood in Texas. Wow! Yum! The chopped brisket was also on point - smokey and delicious. I tasted the smoked turkey breast and side ribs as well which were both very legit TX quality BBQ yumminess. Atmosphere - a little bare naked but all good. Music was fun and the service was great. Im looking forward to coming back in the warmer months to have a true TX backyard BBQ experience but it was a warm and welcome escape during this chilly winter day in Toronto! The Mac and cheese is also very good. Yes, I ate way too much and now Im gonna go sleep it off! Check this hidden midtown gem out, yall! Vegetarian options: Potato salad, Mac, Mac salad, coleslaw, cornbread
I was missing Franklins & Terry Blacks so decided to stop by for BBQ lunch. Well, I m glad I did because this was sooo good! The side ribs & fatty brisket were on point, loved the peppery bark & the glaze on the ribs . Usually I m not a huge fan of sausage but the spicy Italian one was amazing, so much flavour I didn t even need to dip it in the BBQ sauce. I wish I didn t live downtown because I would be here every week!
Best bbq in the city hands down.
bussing food, great music and a lot of space to eat food with friends or loved ones. Great guys who give recommendations and they listened to everything we said.
I live in the area and have visited often. It s never open. Doesn t matter what the hours say on here - it s never open.
Yes my plate is EMPTY,,,,I ve been Southern Georgia and Alabama for smoke BBQ and Benny s has a really great taste just like the southern! Do me a favour and enjoy the meat without any sauce and appreciate the FLAVOUR!!! Thanks Benny 2024!
This place is straight . Somewhat of a BBQ afficionado having tried over 100 BBQ places and this is place is right up there. The ribs are insane. I usually prefer back ribs but their side ribs on another level. Brisket tender with a great bark. Pulled pork pretty good and burnt ends dynamite!!! Highly recommend if you like BBQ. Best in city and I ve tried everything.
Benny s bbq is a true hidden gem. The food was unreal!! I had brisket and sausage and will 100% be back for more. The service was great and great vibes overall. This is a must try! Thanks Benny
Got the special of the day (burnt ends) smaller portion (by the looks of it) but quite hearty and filling. Comes with a slice of bread and some pickles/pickled onions. Add some BBQ sauce for extra flavour. Meat was tender, fat rendered and crispy on the outside. Incredible flavour and definitely worth a visit. Looking forward to trying the brisket next time.
Had the ribs and potato salad, it was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed it I own a seasonal bbq place(won t list it) but I would order from here anytime.
Great bbq spot I tried the beef rib special, and it was amazing. Great coleslaw too. Amazing staff Food
Please dont tell anyone about this place. I need my fix, and I dont want them to run out before 4pm Seriously though, this place is a neighborhood keystone. Its like having a backlot smokehouse, out in the country. The space smells like wood chips, smoke, an BBQ sauce. The buzz of people after 4pm is energizing, the music is playing, and the food is amazing. The side ribs and potato salad are literally all you need to keep a smile on your face all day. The platter for one is a LOT of food, thats why I prefer to get the ribs + potato salad. And remember to ASK for your brisket fatty, to get that silky smooth sweetness to the maximum.
Ive never had anything from their menu that didnt make me bounce around uncontrollably like a happy little puppy...
Went today with my dad. My turkey sandwich was amazing, just perfect, so tasty and smokey. Well priced. The service was perfect the guys were so cool and friendly. Its so clean there too. Soo refreshing to see a restaurant do normal tip options too. I do feel like its the exact food I wish came with french fries, but i cant wait to go back with all my friends.
Amazing customer service. We ordered from Door Dash and there was a missing item. We called the restaurant directly and they went above and beyond to make it right - they not only couriered us our missing item but also added a few extra items for good measure. They even called us back to make sure we got everything OK. Definitely was impressed with their service. Food was delicious too - we love their cornbread. Thanks again! First time there and we will be ordering again
Brisket 8/10 dino ribs 10/10 honestly really good texas style bbq corn bread was also fantastic probably the best corn bread ive ever had tbh
Honestly food is ok
Brisket so good it would make Meemaw give a pause for thought. Wish I could give six stars because my order got both ends of the brisket.
Very good food.
this place was amazing, had the ribs turkey pulled pork and brisket, was not disappointed. best ive had. highly recommend this place bigly!
This little gem is what Midtown Toronto needed for a long time. Amazing food, amazing service. Got a takeout for a party last Saturday and my guests could not stop raving about the food. Well done Team Bennys.
The experience at Bennys BBQ was well worth it. The two staff members were excellent throughout the entire time, providing me with helpful recommendations. The food arrived quickly, and the platter was amazing - everything was 10/10. The brisket was on another level (a must have). It was cooked to perfection. The location was a bit hidden, but definitely worth checking out. Ill definitely be back!
Excellent barbecue, warm and friendly service. Potato salad, meat and ribs were simply spectacular. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend it.
Literally this restaurant is located in an alley, but dont let that fool you, the BBQ is world class. Brisket and ribs where tender and delicious. Prices are reasonable. Will return.
The food here is incredible. I have tried every item and the highlights are the brisket, the side ribs, and (surprisingly because Im usually not a fan) the smoked turkey! For sides, the Mac n cheese is also fantastic!
Had the ribs and pulled pork. Best BBQ Ive ever had. Ribs we ridiculously tender and flavourful. I will have to hit this place up any time Im in the area.
A friend let me try their burnt ends (Thursday special) and I had to go back and get my own container of goodness. It was soft enough to cut with a plastic knife and it was seasoned through and through. My only complaint is the macaroni salad was way too salty...couldnt eat it. The sliced bread and the pickled veggies were the perfect additions...Ill be back ...FUH SURE!!!
Finally found some legit bbq after Adamson left. Ive tried all the bbq spots in Toronto and none of them compare to Bennys. You can taste the wood smoke and not gas like some of the other bbq places. The burnt ends were the best Ive ever had and I can now die happy. I cant wait to try more next time!
Amazing food. Friendly staff. When youre there it doesnt feel like youre in Toronto.
Really good ribs and brisket
Bennys Barbeque in Toronto exceeded all expectations with their Texas Trinity platter. The portions of juicy meats were incredibly generous, and the sauce added a delightful burst of flavor. The clean and inviting restaurant atmosphere made for a pleasant dining experience. Ill definitely be returning for another mouthwatering BBQ feast!
Got take out and it was the best BBQ Ive had in years. Thank you Benny, from Zenny :)
Top notch texan style barbecue... Bennys is my favorite barbecue place in town, and the staff is super friendly. This makes it hard to be a vegetarian...
I really enjoyed my 1/2 lb pork belly burnt ends (disclaimer: there is a fat cap, but delicious), the pickled vegetables were great to cut the richness of the pork, and then the potato salad was a great side and the bread was soft. I left stuffed. Service was attentive to boot. Glad this spot is in my neighbourhood!
Had brisket and ribs. Ribs were overcooked, brisket didnt have much flavour. Not terrible, but there are better bbq places.
Side ribs here are probably the best BBQ in town
Service and food was great thought the BBQ platter for 1 was delicious albeit a bit pricey. Still better to support local small business than a corporation
Been ordering from Benny s for the past year or so. Tastes amazing - I have zero complaints about the taste. Probably the best I ve had in Toronto. The only recent complaint I have is with the frozen briskets (1 lb each). Got two of these to enjoy with my family along with few other items. One of the brisket looked much smaller in portion and felt much lighter in weight. I didn t care much since I really love these, but my brother decided to weigh them and see if these are both equal in weight. Turns out the lighter/smaller looking one was only ~300g, which is only 2/3 lb. -150g of meat missing feels like a pretty sizeable discrepancy and I wish they d let me know if this is the case ahead of time or fill up my other order with extra 150g of something since I made other purchases. Other than this one incident, no complaints at all. Fabulous barbecue and will be coming back very shortly. Edit: As a follow-up, I d love to highlight Benny s Barbecue s excellent customer service and professionalism. I ve been reached out to ensure that I m fully satisfied as a customer. I m revising my review to give them a 5 star on everything. I continue to endorse Benny s barbecue and I highly recommend everyone to try them out!
Order uber. Mac and cheese was clumpy, floury dry and tasteless. Sausage had gristle and ribs were so dry and tough whole think went in the garbage. Waste of $25
Benny s BBQ is the best Texas-style BBQ food in Toronto. I ve had BBQ food in BC and in various states, and this place has the best quality meat by far. The brisket is always soft and tender, and the ribs fall-off-the-bone each time I have been. Careful not to go too late as they usually sell out by early evening!
Best BBQ in the city, hands down. We ordered a huge platter. And we were very impressed with the amount and the flavour in each component. SO good we ordered more brisket and ribs! Will definitely be back for more.
Best BBQ in the city!
Pork platter was so good. The meat just fell off the ribs. Pulled pork was delicious. Slaw and Mac & Cheese as well are great. Nice low key atmosphere with pic nic tables.
Food was absolutely delicious, no doubt. My favorite was the brisket and the mac and cheese. Its very delicious, however the portions arent as much as you would hope for. The photo is the meal for 2 people, and it was $50. We got 2 soft drinks as well and the total after tax was over $60.
Really great food and people!
Solid barbecue spot. Best item is the smoked rib, an unorthodox amount of pepper on it but I like it. Perfect doneness. Brisket was on the drier side for me, and not quite pull apart. Also not much smoke on it, maybe the wood is not quite smokey and burn too high temp. Would like a sauce that is less sweet or some pickled pepper or onions on the side. Craving a bit of acidity.
The BBQ ribs were amazing and flavourful. Highly recommend coleslaw and mac n cheese for side dishes
excellent quality and value, authentic, personable service and a great addition to the neighbourhood - bbq done right!
The ribs are really good and everything is extremely affordable
Had the Brisket and Side Ribs...both amazing, and truly authentic Texan bbq....will be returning...multiple times
Great BBQ...do not need to say anything let the food speak for itself..just try it
Me and my husband often pass by the area as were only 5 mins walk away and always say well try it some time. Finally, the time came and the only thing we regret is not coming sooner! The pork belly burnt ends, side ribs, and brisket are to die for! Absolutely delicious! We also had pulled pork and sausage, they are also good. We are not big on carbs so cant say much about the mac & cheese. Well definitely be back soon!
Nicely done the smoke meats are done very well ribs was fall off the bone I was just using plastic fork but it came off easily brisket was amazing and that BBQ sauce they gave you on squeeze bottle best idea ever corn bread was one of the best I had. highly recommend this place if your looking for a good smoke meat this is the place.........
I enjoyed everything I tried ( brisket, pulled pork, Baby back ribs, turkey, mac & cheese). My favorites was the brisket. Will go again.
Awesome brisket and pork belly burnt ends (Thursday special). Everything else was great but they were the stars of the show for us!
Everything taste awesome.
What has me salivating every time I think of Benny s is their St. Louis style side ribs ($12 for ½lb pictured). They are some of the best ribs I ve ever eaten, the barque wonderfully caramelized containing a hint of sweetness and a bit of spice that lingers. It s so flavourful that no sauce was required, just bites of the tender pork and its juices was enough for me. They re so good that a pound to myself is what I ll need next visit. Everyone raves about their brisket ($19 for ½lb pictured) and I can see why it s such a hit. The amount of juice that comes out of each slice is incredible. Maybe it s the cut we received, but there was a sliver of fat running through the centre that kept it moist to the final bites. I did find the brisket s rub a tad strong overly salty and heavy handed on the pepper but this does help ensure the entire brisket is flavourful. Next time I ll wipe off some of the rub prior to digging in for the first bite. The smoked chicken wings ($15 for 1lb) are a Friday special and after two flavourful meats, these still impressed. A fair size, the wings were tender with a light smokiness. These babies were perfect for dunking into Benny s barbeque sauce, which has a tangy mild sweetness. Our order arrived with pickled cucumber and onions that were great for cutting through the greasiness of the meat as well as two thin slices of white bread that soaked up the leftover rib and brisket juices. Who would have thought good to the last drop is a slogan that works for barbecue as well? Despite my fill of meat, the banoffee pudding ($8.50) sounded intriguing a banana pudding with a toffee glaze. While I found the top portion of the dessert slightly gritty, the bottom was creamy and contained chunks of soft wafer. The bananas could be sliced thinner, or the thicker slices halved, so that there s a more even distribution of bananas against the custard. Yet, the toffee sauce was fire, thick and perfectly flavoured.
I ll be damned, this is the best Texas BBQ I have had in Toronto, and yes I am also comparing it to the ribfests I have attended. Matter of fact for July 1st I was at the rib fest in Centennial park. Too bad we can t review those events. Back to Benny s now, the food was amazing. The ribs were so tender and juicy, meat falling off the bone. The brisket was ok, next time I go there I will skip it let me just put it that way. Focus on getting more ribs instead. Matter of fact, I have to try the beef ribs too, but definitely skip the brisket. The sides were really good too, but heads up the sausage is spicy. I liked it but my daughter discovered spicy on this day and she wasn t a fan. Overall just great food at a reasonable price. I got a list of other bbq places I am going to try next but as of right now I am naming Bennys the best ribs in Toronto. Parking: It s Yonge and eglinton. What do you expect? Lol Kid-friendliness: Be careful there is lots of stairs so don t let kids run wild. The sitting area is up a small number of stairs so just keep an eye on the kids.
THE BEST BARBECUE IN TOWN
Best barbecue in TO!!
Highly recommend this place. The pork was amazing. Good service, would definitely come back.
I had higher hopes for the food, but unfortunately I found most of it to be flavorless. - Corn bread had zero flavor - brisket was ok - Ribs were small and lacked any flavor - Brisket beans were also lacking flavor and...brisket - Somehow the sausage was lacking flavor Staff were friendly enough but when you are looking for solid BBQ, this is not the place!
Best f... barbecue in toronto. Better than any other in downtown and the price is fair. Meat specially brisket is 20/10. Sides are OK but not the best! Food
The beans are amazing!
What a superb find! Upon entering you are enveloped in that unique wood and smokehouse smell. Lunch was the Texas Trinity platter - busker, St Louis ribs, Jalapeño sausage, slaw and beans. OUTSTANDING Combined with friendly attentive service I m a new regular
Delicious brisket and ribs. Chill atmosphere. Nice service
Food is ok but price is ridiculous and portions are small.
Great food, great staff. The BBQ is the best in the city by far.
Was so good went twice this past weekend. Everything was good, but the side ribs, pulled pork, and brisket were exceptional
First time stopping by and will certainly not be the last. Fast and friendly service. We had the Texas Trinity (brisket, ribs, and sausage + a choice of two sides). Everything was delicious and hit the spot to satisfy our craving for some traditional Texas BBQ. The portion size for two was perfect for us. We will be back next time our in-office day matches with Benny s opening hours.
A Solid 10 out of 10! When it comes to BBQ in Toronto, Bennys Barbecue is the place to be, especially if youre a brisket lover like me. This place knows how to make brisket thats juicy and bursting with flavor. Its the real deal! But thats not all theyve got. Bennys offers a tasty selection, from St. Louis Style Side Ribs to tender Pulled Pork and heavenly Baby Back Ribs. Its a BBQ lovers dream come true, with something to satisfy everyones cravings. What sets Bennys apart? Its the owner, Ben. Hes not just welcoming but also exceptionally passionate about BBQ, and that passion resonates in every dish they serve. I have visited here several times, and every single visit delivers the same outstanding experience. If youve been missing the beloved Adamson BBQ since it closed after COVID, Bennys is here to fill that void. Trust me; youve got to try it for yourself. Pro Tip: Get there early because this place sells out quickly! And if they have beef ribs available, dont miss out. You wont regret it. Also, if you cant wait until you get home to savor that mouthwatering brisket, dont hesitate to dig in right in your car its that good! Menu
I recently got catering from Benny s. The end to end service was great. I couldn t pick up the food the day of the event, but they made some great recommendations on what would be good when reheated. The food was packed well and was simple to toss in the overnight to reheat. The brisket, ribs and pulled pork was perfect when reheated. The food and sides were all delicious! The meats were amazing - perfectly cooked, tender and flavored. The meats were all great quality. Even the sides were awesome - from the cornbread to salads to the beans, a perfect accompaniment to the mains. The pick up was quick and easy, in and out in 10 mins. Thanks the Benny s BBQ for making the whole event a success! Definitely be coming back to try the other food.
Great food great people
The food is amazing! We had some of everything (except the cornbread they were sold out sadly!) It wasnt busy at all when we showed up so there wasnt a wait.
Stay away from this Place . It s a Rip off ! We ordered the 15.99 Sandwich with Brisket . It is small and the Bun was cold . I don t think they cook their own food there . 20$ wth the parking fee for a small 4 bite Sandwiches ?? Scam ! It was Saturday at noon and there was only two people and us . And Don t Believe their Reviews too , it s Mostly Fake !
We had the sampler which is a nice dish if you want to try all the meats. I really liked their house made sausage & Brisket. Ben is really nice owner/Host and will help you order as per your preferences. Food : 5/5
It was expensive compared to the portion of food that you received. I bought a chopped brisket (sliced) sandwich; it was less than 100gr of beef for 21 box.
The only downside about this place is that everything sells out too quickly. Everything here taste so good! Food
Food came out a tad cold but it s tender nonetheless. Friendly service and funky deco
One of the bests bbq brisket in town.
Food was tasty. Everything is smoked the night before or in the morning and they often run out if you go too late. The staff was warm and friendly. Would recommend you pop by if youre in the area.
Really great BBQ uptown. As good as any top tier BBQ anywhere in Toronto. Maybe the best ribs in the city?
Went on a Saturday at 1pm ordered one beef rib, a brisket sandwich, cornbread and a banana pudding - total $87.41. The service was great but the food was very mediocre. You d think everything would have been a bit hotter considering they opened for service at noon. The beef rib wasn t warm and it did not have the smoke flavour I expected it to. It was cooked well but the flavour just wasn t there. It needed to be eaten with BBQ sauce. For the price (1.4lbs for $47.60, which is $34/lb way overpriced) I expected way, way more. The brisket sandwich was cold, bit dry and the flavours were subtle too. Cornbread was cold and dry. Coleslaw that came with the sandwich was the best thing. Banana pudding was too sweet. Really not sure how they have such a high rating. I wouldn t go back and I wouldn t recommend. Overpriced for subpar food.
Bennys BBQ is the best BBQ in toronto hands down. Its not local to me, but I make the drive for the sake of good food! That being said, its in a great location. Parking can be located for free at certain times of day, or paid street parking at other times. (Thats yonge street for you). The aroma upon entry is enough to make you want to order everything on the menu. The meat is all quality soucred, prepared, and cooked. The flavor is ALL THERE when enjoying. Nothing missing. The brisket is my personal favorite as its just cooked to perfection which is often not found in other places. The ribs are aswell cooked to perfection, which is very hard to come by in other establishments. Turkey, sausage links, pulled pork, or the side ribs are usually a second meat item I will pair with my brisket, just for variety. If you happen to stumble in on a day where they are serving one of their specials of the week, definitely give them a try as they are only around once a week or less even sometimes! For instance, the smoked wings and the pastrami are personal favorites. I still have yet to try the beef ribs!! When it comes to the sides, I find myself ordering multiple as they are all so delicious I can never make up my mind. The coleslaw is addictive. The potato salad & The Mac n cheese are classic with a twist. The beans and brisket is probably the most interesting side with the most flavor (and bonus meat included inside!). Bennys signature BBQ sauce is also worthy of mention, as its provided on the table top while eating and I usually add a bunch to my sides and meats because I cant get enough. Their dessert options are killer aswell... the banana pudding is a personal favorite, or their pies and cookies. Honestly cant choose! Their fridge is stocked with all sorts of variety of sodas, from classic favorites to exotic flavors less likely to find anywhere else. The men at Bennys are friendly, great and knowledgeable in their craft. Ben himself is a wiz in the kitchen and its great to see all the creative flavors he has created. The atmosphere in their restaurant is cool. Vintage signs on the wall, good music, and a nice open space perfect for larger functions.
Outstanding service, flavor and food quality. By far the best BBQ anywhere in Toronto. Rivals proper Southern BBQ.
By far the best BBQ I ve had in Toronto by a long shot. Their brisket is legit and their bbq sauce is great.
First time coming in here, Jason and Nick were beyond amazing wonderful service. The food was amazing. Would highly recommend to anyone to come try it.
Wow! What a great spot to get some good bbq! The brisket was delightful, it was juicy and flavourful. Great service by everyone I would recommend 100%
Best barbeque in Toronto!!! I have tried Adamsons and Cherry St BBQ and Bennys beats both easily! All food was delicious, tasty and moist. Too bad there are no burnt ends at Bennys!!
We went with 5 people. We ordered set meals it s 90$. These set are volumey and so delicious with cold can beer. I recommend you.
Great service! It was my first time and I asked the cashier what he recommended he was friendly and gave some good recommendations. I got the 1/2 ribs which was tender and well seasoned. The baked beans was flavourful and had pieces of meat in it which was a nice surprise. Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant has a ramp but there is a curb in front of the restaurant it s not very high but can be a challenge for some.
Benny s Barbecue offers tasty food with big portions that I really enjoyed. Its worth checking out. Just keep in mind they have a limited schedule, and some items may not always be available. Overall, a good place to try if youre in the mood for delicious barbecue. Edited: Upon revisiting, I found all items in stock. Upgrading my rating to 5 stars due to the delicious food, chilled beer, and attentive service. Highly recommend this spot.
Very good brisket and pulled pork, brisket beans and sausage were just ok! Was very pricey though.
Understanding the time it takes to make good BBQ, and the shrinkage there is in the meat (cooking & trimming the fat off a whole Brisket when raw) I can confidently say they are fairly priced and make a great product. Im a fan & a regular. BBQ isnt set it and forget it, and I dont have the time or the skill to produce this caliber of BBQ. 1 taste & youll be hooked. These guys care.
I had one of the best BBQ experiences in the city. The brisket was incredibly delicious, and the sausage was amazing. The sides were also fantastic. The staff was exceptionally friendly and professional. Just writing this review makes me plan to visit again this weekend loool. Definitely recommended!
Went to get a pulled pork and macaroni salad for takeout. The pulled pork was not even lukewarm, so you definitely had to heat it up. Id expect if it was takeaway that it came hot. No smoked flavour to the pulled pork. The pork was just cooked and pulled. The small container of sauce is not enough for the 1/2 pound of meat. Nice that it came with two potato rolls. The macaroni salad came cold as expected and was a bit greasy, so not the best feeling for your next bite. Not value for money. Had high hopes given the reviews. Came across better flavoured smoked meats. Vegetarian options: The salada Dietary restrictions: Ask Benny or the counter staff Parking: Paid street and garage parking around the Yonge area Kid-friendliness: Picnic tables - kid friendly Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
Food of good quality and reasonable price. Staff is nice and friendly. Will surely come again.
