BBQ is our Passion and Smoking is our Style For the past decade the Flom brothers have perfected the best BBQ sandwiches in Toronto. Through their passion for smoking meat with local ingredients. Leslieville Pumps has grown out of their humble beginnings in an old gas station and into the true vintage general store and smoke house they are today. Come on in to "where everybody know your name” . Take a walk back in time where the local general store is the hub of Leslieville. When it comes to Canadian comforts The Pumps has it all, from The BEST SANDWICHES & POUTINE in the city to nostalgic candy and convenience items.
You HAVE to stop in and check out Leslieville Pumps if you're in the area. The shelfs are stocked with rare treats, pops and candies, which is definitely a throwback to your childhood. The BBQ is on point, too. I had a delicious Brisket Sandwich which is perfectly priced at $17 and will definitely make me a repeat visitor. Do yourself a favour, shop local, support the neighbourhood and benefiting from meeting two very kind owners who are trying to make a difference to the community and your belly.
Small portion of mac and cheese for $15 and it’s full of peas. I’m an adventurous eater and I consider this kind of just weird and unnecessary. More like mac and peas. It throws off what is supposed to be a classic comfort food. This place fell off. $5 bill for scale.
If I could give The Pumps more than 5 stars, I would! You get amazing food, that's always fresh and affordable for the quality and presentation. The staff and owners are some of the nicest people too! They ensure that you are always satisfied and leave feeling happy and content. It's truly amazing the variety of treats you can find within the store. There are things you never see on shelves at other places! I make it a tradition that when I am down in Lesliville, I always head to the pumps. I have never been disappointed! Looking forward to visiting again, soon!
Meat was dry, tough and cold. Bun was dry and made majority of the sandwich. Not worth it. All you need to know, it’s Indian owned. Zero passion. Read reviews before trying.
Brisket was really lean but quite tender, covered in a bbq sauce which compensates for the dryness. Overly sweet and lacks a smoky and salty flavour. The bun was also burnt/overtoasted, introducing bitter flavours that were off-putting. Otherwise bun was quite fluffy. Portions/proportions were also acceptable, but not the greatest.
Not often that I find myself in Leslieville these days, but here I was on a Monday morning with time to kill, walking by and decided to grab a breakfast sandwich. Had the BLT. Pretty good, but I was halfway through it before I noticed that they had BBQ brisket sandwiches. Dang, now I have to go back for lunch!
Friends brought us a treat from the Leslieville Pumps General Store & Kitchen so I can only rate on the Pumps loaded poutine with beef brisket. Overall, I'd give the poutine a 4/5. The poutine has the signature gravy and cheese curds. The online menu says there's a dark rich gravy and jus from their smoker. Was it drenched with gravy like how I like my poutines to be? Honestly, no. Since it seemed to be a bit lacking on the gravy, not all of my cheese curds were covered so I felt it to be a bit dry overall. You can see from the images that quite a few of my fries are a bit naked and dry looking. Others may be okay with this level of gravy. I just happen to like my poutines drenched. The highlight, of course, was the beef brisket. That certainly didn't disappoint. It was soft and flavourful with that classic smoky bbq taste. Overall, a pleasant experience thus ranking it 4/5 stars.
Just not worth it. $15 for a sandwich with nothing besides some beef and sauce is obscene. Maybe try something else on the menu. It’s good brisket and great sauce. But every bite had way more bun than anything else. Service was slow, which was strange because of how simple it seems to throw together something this simple.
Great little hole in the wall. They have such good food and even more amazing customer service. 10/10
Cool place! Food was awesome, tons of unique snacks, great service
Fantastic sandwiches. Love the Peameal Bacon on a bun or the Brisket.... Fries/Poutine are delicious.
Taste is good but $17 for this meat-to-bun ratio with fries and extra $7 is a ripoff.
The brisket sandwich and corn fritters are 10/10 I ll definitely be back to eat them both.
This cost $22. Thats my review.
The sandwiches were great, the mac and cheese was very creamy and they have fun snacks.
All I bought was a muffin (cornbread), and based on the taste and texture of this muffin all I will say is ask how old any of the baked goods are before buying. I will be back to try the BBQ sandwich which is hopefully a much better experience.
Delicious Brisket Sandwich - beautiful dash of Horseradish - will definitely be back to try other items on the menu
A great local spot with a lovely owner! He s so passionate about his food and it what s fresh ingredients.
Poutine was waaaayyyyy too salty! Like really salty The brisket sandwich is dry and the meat to pun ratio is off. Disappointed as I was starving and excited to try it out Food
I got the smoked Salmon on bagel and a poutine and my buddy got the smoked brisket - both of us left there feeling great and very full. Jud is very passionate about the food he serves and his enthusiasm is infectious. Go eat here. Vegetarian options: There is a veggie sandwich
Great, hearty poutine and breakfast sandwiches. Love the snack selections as well
Great place to get breakfast or lunch or a delicious snack! The owner is personable and the food is delicious!
Such a gem! Great service, amazing poutine and sandwiches and the best vibe!
This place is a 10/10. Awesome food. Reasonable price and incredible staff! Highly recommended.
This restaurant also serves as a convenience store. Selling Snacks, Tobacco, lighters/papers, and some select grocery items; like Penautbutter. I dont often write reviews, unless a restaurant really wows me, for better, or for worse. This time it was for the better. The fries were perfectly seasoned. They were so good that I forgot to even use ketchup, and I usually have my fries with extra ketchup. Perfect light-golden fry on them, still flexible, but not at all soggy; even after walking 350m back to my truck. If you like your fries rigid, more browned, and extra crispy, ask for them well-done, but they are perfect just the way they make them. The Brisket Sandwich was also very good. The whole thing cost me a little over $23 but I eat at a wide variety of restaurants for work, and $23 is pretty standard for a Brisket Sandwich and Fries, and a good deal when the food is this good. I forgot my water, but thats on me being in a rush to get back to work, not on the owner. Looking forward to hopefully ending up here again soon, so I can try the Pulled Pork. Dietary restrictions: They have a few veg options, probably not vegan options, but why would you do this to yourself? Get the Brisket, or Pulled Pork. Get what you really want to eat.
Pros- the guy working at the cash was really nice. Cons- price point, portion size. Advice- don t waste your money Food : 1/5
Been several times in the mornings on weekends and they are closed. I give up.
Not from the area, but decided to stop in for lunch with the kids, and we were not disappointed! There s something for everyone on the menu, and the concept was so fun and well done. Amazing candy selection for the kids, and award winning brisket for the parents!? Count me in! The customer service and passion for food was second to none, and something you don t see often anymore. Fries, baked beans, chicken fingers, Mac and cheese, brisket, all amazing! Thanks to Judson and Greg for the great food and conversation, we will be back!
This was SUCH an incredible meal! Perfect in every way! Large portion and be careful!: those fritters are addictive! One of the best meals I have EVER had!! The brisket was sensational!! Well be ordering again soon!!!
Real BBQ is understandably expensive, unfortunately this simply isn t real BBQ
Judd is awesome. Really accommodating to our emergency. Foods awesome Service is fantastic The vibe is great
Hidden gem with great BBQ + sammies, loads of speciality American candy bars & drinks, and super positive staff!
Food here is hit or miss. The menu sounds great and the shop has a cool aesthetic. Unfortunately the quality of the food is all over the place. Theyre the type of place you go, have a bad experience, think about going back to to give it another chance, but then decide its not worth it
Food is incredibly overpriced. Paid $13 for mac and cheese that was very small and $9 for 3 chicken tenders. Everything is a la carte which is really crazy considering the price and portions of their food. I would put it on par with the McDonalds value menu but honestly I wouldve eaten that over this stuff. The food is bland and boring and I ended up throwing most of it out. Couldnt finish the chicken tenders because they were mostly chunks of fat rather than chicken breast, sauce was watery. The mac and cheese was mostly just plain noodles under a top layer of cheese. Total waste of money and time. The cashier was always watching some movie or tv show while we were ordering which I thought was a little rude and unprofessional
overpriced. Should of read the reviews before coming here. The sandwiches are incredibly dry and small, mac and cheese was bland and a tiny portion, complete rip off. 60$ for nothing, never again, stay away try something else on the east end LOTS of better options. Lady just watching indian movies in the back gave us attitude when we asked a simple question.
2nd time ive been here, first time was the brisket and loved it. Bout to try some chili, price is adequate but it references old western times when 20 dollars was like 100 dollars. The cashier is so upbeat and so was the cook, i love this place
This meal cost $37 ..also while me and my family were eating we had to keep listening to the cashier and cook keep talking in Punjabi to each other and over the phone .horrible experience and absolutely not worth the price never going again
I read the reviews of this staple in the Queen East area. The food was tasty, and the quality was good. My only disappointment was that everything was ala carte which made it expensive. For the price of a sandwich, I believe that it should include a small order of fries.
Very disappointing brisket sammy. Very little meat, shredded rather than in chunks, no crispy onions, burnt bun. Not gonna give the a second chance.
Very dry and expensive brisket sandwich Front of the house morning guy has bad body odour. Food
INCREDIBLE CORN FRITTERS! Sandwiches were very good but my husband and I recommend the beef brisket. The pulled pork was good but not as good as the brisket. The service was slow, but honestly it didnt matter to us -- the food was incredible.
Had the classic poutine and it was delicious! Perfect amount of cheese curds, lots of gravy, great fries.
Best poutine in the city!! We ordered loaded beef brisket chilli and chicken poutine. That was amazing! Highly recommended! The staff is also very helpful and friendly:)
amazing place ! the owner was so nice, you can really see how passionate they are about their food ! which was SO delicious! will absolutely be back to try the rest of the menu ! thanks Judd !!
Worst brisket sandwich I ve had to date. Bun was old and hard, meat was dry even in all that sauce. And it said it was going to be cubed up chunks of brisket, but it was shredded brisket which leads me to believe this is not cooked on site. You should never shred brisket.
Great BBQ
I used to go to the original and loved it Came to the new location and we loved it just the same. Had the brisket, butter chicken and fried pickles. As far as fast food goes, this place is the best.
Don t sleep on the bacon corn fritters, awesome little candy selection for rare imports from the states. Big fan of the regular poutine. Good breakfast sandos/bagels as well. If you do get the Mac and cheese, there are peas in there as an FYI
Charming spot, great food and the staff is friendly. A must stop if in the area.
Breakfast sandwich was very basic for a high price. Bun was not good and the egg on it was tiny. Wouldn t recommend this place for prepared foods
Theres something fascinating about a small kitchen inside a convenience store that is able to make food so delicious that will blow fancy restaurants out of the water! Ordered the hickory chicken and the brisket sandwich this time ,but the food is consistently delicious here! They deserve all the love from the community
This place has been on my radar for some time and finally went there over the weekend. The bun was soft inside but crispy on the outside, so nicely done. There was so much flavor with the beef brisket it was so good.
The brisket Sammy is bussin
Outstanding!!! Owner Judd is amazing! It was our first time and he was sure to make us welcome. He helped review the menu and how each item was prepared. The meats are smoked in house and everything on the menu is made with something special to stand out above the rest. His sales skills are beyond belief. I will definitely have a craving soon for the Turkey Club served on Challah bread, perfectly not too sweet. It was perfecton. And the fries, oh the fries.....better than anyone elses. A must try! Thank you so much Judd!!!! We will be back to visit you soon!
This place is amazing like going back into time
This place is a must eat if you are in the Leslieville area. Best turkey club I ve ever had. Owner is full of positive energy and you can tell he puts his soul into his business. Amazing place and we will be back!
Place used to be decent back at the old location. Went in for the first time in awhile and had a brisket sandwich, was $15+ and it was verrrrrry dry and the portion wasnt anywhere close to $15+ worth. They also charge and extra $3 for bacon on their already $9 breakfast sandwich. Rip off
Very expensive for only the bun without any fries or salad included, and it was not fresh on the vegetables
Food was disappointing, it was made by people who don t know what bbq is or how to make a sandwiches Cost was ridiculous for 2 sandwiches about $35 Food
Sorry for my poor review The place has a great atmosphere and cool snacks but $7.50 for a cup of broth??aka so-so chicken soup, I find this overpriced Food
Best sandwiches in town!
Very convenient pass by shop to get quality sandwiches and burgers that have a bit more umph to them than the usual BLT or w.e.. The service there went above and beyond, with recommendations, customizations, upgrades etc. Washroom is great, lots of seating available. Beef brisket or smoked salmon are gonna be my choices there.
so effing good. had the owner come over and chat with us for a bit and the food was a solid 10/10. still as good as my first time here just under a decade ago
Had the loaded poutine with beef brisket . Wow that was so good . Bit pricey but worth it .
Wow! The perfect breakfast bagel with smoked salmon, capers, onions and herbed cream cheese. Excellent service. Food
Amazing brisket sandwich! Also loved the fried pickles
Huge disappointment. Cornbread was stale, brisket sandwich and pulled pork tasted only of their far to vinegary bbq sauce. Ive heard so many great things about this place, but its clearly gone an long way downhill
Nice place. Excellent food. Nice staff. Fun selection of candy as well.
If you like smoked sandwhiches, you should check this place out. If you havent had a smoked sandwhich youve liked yet, you really need to check this place out. And the retro vibe was everything... took me back to a place I belong! (Not West Vargina). Staff and owners were great too. I am now a converted smoked sandwhich fan - but only at Leslieville Pumps! Thanks LP and J. Ill be back!
Ordered two turkey clubs. Was quite disappointed. Very expensive even for Leslieville (43 dollars for two sandwiches). Sandwich was poorly engineered, not ever really a turkey club. Okay sandwich at best. Food : 2/5
Honest review: Pros: fries, flavour of brisket sandwich Cons: service slow, front of house guy had bad body odor, took 25 mins for a sandwich and fries, meat in sandwich cold. Place has potential but changes have to be made.
Apple cider drink
Beef brisket sandwich was really good. Will definitely be back again!
My only regret is it took me so long to try this place. Corn fritters are incredible, the garlicky herby sauce would go well on anything. Veteran move by keeping the bag open for takeout as even after driving 10 mins home while eating bag fries there we re super crispy. Brisket sandwich is great, mustard is a nice compliment. If I was to be super not picky it was a tad dry but definitely eat at this place!
I order grill cheese and made a note for crispy bacon. And the bacn is raw. This place isn t as good as it used to be
Good food but expensive and they wont give you their wifi
So delicious!! And an incredible selection of candy to pick from
Great Corn Fritters!! Also okay chilli, goes great with the fritters!
I didn t try anything off the menu, and by the looks of the other reviews, this appears to be a mistake. The general store had an exciting selection of goods, including Ting, which can be challenging to find.
Great quality food and a fun place to visit!
Advertised as Texas bbq but is anything but. Traditional Texas brisket is never diced up and thrown into a to go box because at that point it looks like disgusting mush. Literally threw it away when I got home. Baked beans were disgusting. They gave me ice cold bbq sauce. Shoulda known something was wrong when I walked in, saw no customers and didn t even smell bbq. First and last time I ever step foot in that store
The Fried pickles taste good. But yeah the portion size has changed. A single fried pickle, Is not fried pickles. No matter how many times you cut it.
Would give less stars of possible. Sorry in advance to the owners but really bad food. We waited forever for the food and it was very poor quality and felt was frozen and warmed for us. Corn salad for almost 10 bucks is a tiny plastic container of pre-made refrigerated corn kernels with canned hot sauce, very gross and oily. Corn muffin was so stale w Indian spices for some reason? Was saran wrapped and non edible. Other food was bland, old, reheated, over priced, made us sick. Pulled pork was meh. The best things were the fries and they were just fries that you could get anywhere. Hopefully, they rethink their whole menu, concept, use fresh ingredients, cook things fresh bc it doesnt seem like they are doing that. Minimize your menu and make things you know how FRESH. Customers can tell the difference!
I ve been going to The Pumps since it opened and was at the gas station a few doors down. I ve always found the food to be consistently delicious, fresh and hits the spot when I m craving bbq. The beef brisket was tender and PERFECTLY spiced. We also ordered the chicken tenders, corn fritters, deep fried pickles and fries. The portions are large so we were able to get two meals out of it. One of my fave lunch spots in town! They also sell local backed sweets.
Very ordinary food with higher price
Got two poutines. One with pulled pork and the other one with brisket. They were great, too much sauce though. But definitely recommend it!
Best Pulled Pork Poutine in Toronto!! Hands down. Lots of gravy and asked for BBQ sauce with hot sauce on top. Just AWSOME.
Got to try an assortment of sandwiches ranging in price from 16 to $18 each all pretty good but a little pricy. Would recommend if youre in a pinch
This is our first time ordering from this place and we LOVE it. The brisket sandwiches are to die for! Also, if you order a poutine through skip, they dont put the gravy on the fries but on the side instead.
Literally had the worst breakfast I ve ever ordered from a restaurant here this morning. Generally breakfast sandwiches are hard to ruin, and same goes for a bagel, I ordered both and they were practically inedible. Mind blown.
Very cute. love the new storefront and the BLT breakfast sandwich!
Small but good menu at a great price. Cant go wrong here.
Very cute concept. My boyfriend and I got the regular poutine and poutine with brisket, both were very yummy! They have lots of other goods there made by local vendors. Worth checking out :)
Quality of food has gone way down since they moved from the gas station. Had a brisket sandwich which barely had any meat and with a bun that tasted way too stale. Very disappointed. Hope they fix up their kitchen. Only giving 2 stars because they still have some good choices of pops and candies.
Stale food, small portions, misrepresenting menu descriptions. Simply avoid.
One of the best restaurants in Toronto, highly recommend this place, the food is simply amazing !!
Garbage since y all moved. Lazy cooking. Never listens to special instructions
Ordered their poutine on International Poutine Day and it definitely did not disappoint. I got the traditional poutine. The gravy had a lot of flavour and the fries were nice a crispy. I of course ordered for take out and had to bring the poutine back to my house. I ordered the gravy on the side to avoid the fries becoming soggy. I would highly recommend.
We eat here fairly often and the food is great. The only bummer is the older fella who loiters the same table every day. He rarely buys anything and mumbles insulting things to families with younger kids. He just sits there playing solitaire and takes up a table for 4. When we see him there, we eat outside.
we had the turkey sandwich and the poutine and both were banging, would recommend
Love the service and owners. The pulled pork is epic. Can t say enough good things about this place.
The best Poutine Ive ever had out of northern Ontario or quebec. And I cant explain the best sandwich I had out of there was there smoked turkey club. Thanks Leslieville Pumps
Completely not worth the money!!! Bought the morning sandwich for over 10 bucks! Not worth the money at all!!! One egg, little cheese, thinnest piece of bacon. Will not return
When I first saw they were selling the old location I was devastated - where was I got to get my breakfast sandwich or my late like pulled pork or that greasy delicious grilled cheese with bacon? So thankful they ve kept the brand alive and seriously almost next door.
brisket was 4 stars the poutine was 5 star .
Its a nice store but kinda really ruins the atmosphere of riverside
Great spot if you ve got the late night munchies, or crazing a perfect, simple breakfast sandwich.
Great food, friendly staff and some unique candy and drinks. The hot food menu is full of delicious items, along with yummy baked goods and great ceasar salad.
Food was bomb!!
Awesome food!! Especially morning classic and butter chicken sandwhich
breakfast sandwich hella sus Bagel isnt a bagel
Can t go wrong with anything on the menu. Love this place.
Omg
Really disapointed with their customer service.ordered 99 dollars of food to be delivered via ubereats. the uber delivery guy showed up with another persons order (different name), with my address and only 40 dollars worth of food. i called pumps up, and they said its not their problem and to call uber and hung up on me. Their food is generally very good and we eat (used to) their often, but this was poor service with no ownership or accountability taken.
Very very good poutine. So good. Thank you, from Pennsylvania
Checked out the new location just down the street from the old location. Got the basic poutine, my brother got the breakfast sandwich. No frills about it, but definitely a decent bite to eat at fair prices. Cool American snacks in there too. Did well with the renovation, the inside looks great.
Omg, this place is killer.
I ordered the Veginator and a piece of carrot cake. The sandwich was definitely freshly made, which I appreciated. But it was just okay. And for the price ($10) it was pretty small. The slice of carrot cake was very large, but it was very bland. Very bland. Overall, the quality of the food was good, but it was lacking in flavour.
Such a great neighbourhood gem! I love The Pumps! Have ordered food from here quite a few times - especially lunch lately, which we ve picked up. Love their fries and their chicken fingers. Tasty sandwiches! Just a great overall little local gem.
The beef brisket sandwich is very good. I also like the corn fritters, the sauce that comes with it has this yummy fresh taste. The store in there also sells American candies and chocolate bars. And they have pastries too. The beef brisket is must try!!!
A hidden gem of Toronto, if youre not been here and you are visiting Toronto or live in or around GTA you owe it to yourself to be here for a ME TOME escape to heavenly food and move!!!
If you want really fresh delicious fast food, the pumps has got you covered! I just had the rise and shine breakfast sandwich and it is the best in Leslieville. Also, the late night curry chicken is the best comfort food on Queen after 10pm. Ill be returning for lunch this week
Good local spot. Most of the stuff in American imports and overly priced for what it is. Sandwiches are decent. But the late night menu which includes butter chicken and rice is awful. Possibly only consumed by the extremely intoxicated.
The most delicious pulled pork and pulled chicken sandwiches!!
When I read the menu the way your food was described I ordered. The food that arrived was nothing as described. Fries cold and over cook fed.no lovly golden fries with herbs cold over cooked. The sandwhich was dry cold and no flavour. I paid 32 dollars for my order and not worth it
They have come a long way.
Love the concept of this convenience store/general store combined with a menu of sandwiches and baked goods. The poutine is amazing. I usually go for the vegetarian (portobello mushroom) or beef brisket sandwich.
Delicious sandwiches and friendly staff. Their pulled pork sandwich is excellent.
The corn fritters are absolutely delicious, love the green sauce that comes with it. The sandwiches are just okay, felt like they were slightly overpriced for how much you get (they re around $13 on Uber eats, and it was mostly bread). The sandwiches were also not very hot by the time I ate them at home (which was only a 6 minute walk so it leads me to believe it probably wasn t very hot to begin with).
Brisket Poutine is delicious!!!
Quaint hole in the wall with an interesting selection of snacks and sandwiches. The beef brisket is tasty.
This is for all my gluten free friends out there. THEY HAVE GLUTEN FREE BUNS AND OPTIONS FOR MOST THINGS ON THE MENU!! of course, somethings arent but ask. I got the Pulled Pork sammie and the Brisket, intending to get it on its own, then they said, Oh no man, we have gluten free buns. I cannot explain how exciting this was. Then a few minutes into waiting, someone from the back asks to make sure, the fried onions arent GF, so you dont want it right?. When I finally got to eat, a whole 5 min wait, it was completely worth it. HIghly recommend and there is a bunch of cool things inside to buy too.
Great sandwiches
Awesome sandwiches - eating the hickory smoked turkey right now and its so good that I had to leave a review
I highly recommend the smoked brisket poutine! A meal in itself. Super friendly staff and good service. Food is always hot and fresh.
If there was half a star I would give them that. TERRIBLE experience. I order The Veginator, it was more like The Disappointer. The bread was 3 times the size of the patty. When I bit into it, I thought I bit a piece of wood and from then on it went down hill. I opened it up there were literally 4 small pieces of mushroom, buttered like avocado and a hint to sprouts. You know when you eat a lot of bread and you know you will be starving in an hour. Well that is exactly it. I went to the place and told the Owner or person in charge what happened and he told me. I can make you a new one now. By this time I was thinking they were going to spit in my food so I said Nah Im OK. Youre burger sucks. He just shrugged it off. I left. Never again put a step in that place.
This review is based on a night visit just past midnight. Only the gas station is open 24hrs. The food counter is closed at night but they do have some baked goods and one hot dish of butter chicken on rice available from a hot table. During my visit the cashier was on his phone the whole time and barely paid attention. Disappointing. The hours for the food counter should be posted on the website.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!! Referred to me from a friend at work! Had the Smoked brisket poutine, it tasted amazing! Definitely coming back!
I ordered loaded barbecue chicken poutine and am not impressed at what I recieved. 10 min wait for 3 pieces of chicken is not loaded What a disappointment..
Yummy food, but experienced poor customer service when I went in for lunch. I ve updated the review because I did receive a response from management. I will try again and hopefully it will be a positive experience!
Poutine is 4 out of 5. Wouldve been a 5 if the curds were melted more.
Pretty satisfactory food but very limited places to park and sit.
Best brisket sandwich I ever had
Way over priced...
Amazing staff. Ordered lunch with my staff fast and Delicious. Highly recommend stopping in and trying there Poutine! Will be definitely returning!
I didn t even realize this place serves food. They have all day breakfast and sandwiches. I enjoyed the veggie sandwich that I ordered. A little bit pricey for a sandwich but still pretty good.
This place is a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one! You wouldnt expect a gas station to have some of the best bbq in the city but they do. Its great value and taste better that any other BBQ place Ive been to. I had the beef brisket sandwich with fries and a Pepsi. The sandwich was on a fresh bun, the sauce was perfect ie not too sweet, and the mustard added the perfect kick. The fries are great, and the Pepsi hit the spot.
one of the best places to work and eat all together. right near the road intersection of queen and carlaw. its a bit hard to find at first. since its behind the pumps. poutine is the best here. you can be sure the quantity will bbe more than enough.
Poutine with beef brisket..simply awesome.
This place is blessed.
The beef brisket sandwich is amazing!
Beautiful place. I only stopped for gas.
Great food and quick service. The pulled pork and beef sandwich were both delicious. Dont miss the fried pickles.
We came here for dinner this evening and I was a tad bit disappointed.. I used to eat here regularly back in 2013-ish and the food quality is no longer the way it used to be... the beef brisket didn t taste too fresh and they were trying to mask the dryness of the meat by dousing it in bbq sauce.. the corn fritters, however, we re delicious (the additional is for the frits).
Great brisket burger. These guys fries was a religious experience:)
Take note people... THIS is how you make a poutine!!!
Had pulled pork and brisket sandwiches / poutine . Everything seems to be mixed with a bottle of oversweet syrup . sweet and sugar everywhere . Poutine had regular brick cheddar cheese. No curds . Place looks great though.
We had a number of idems from there menu, it was very good. Pulled pork sandwich, home made baked beans, home made hand cut french fries were great. I had fried pickles, the best Ive ever had. There were many other things from the menu that were eaten by the group including homemade banana bread and carrot cake yum. Keep up the great work!!! West Barnstable, MA
Great spot for quick breakfast or braised beef sandwiches or poutine for a good price.
very good and friendly environment
Someone wrote that theres a lovely ambiance. Have they actually been there? I have tried poutine all over and although this place was once a gem, that is no longer the case. Service is horrible. Only one gentleman was concerned for the customers. Too bad he could not make up for the rest of the staff. They have found ways to get you to pay premium for additional items that other establishments do not charge for. Very little cheese, which is why they offer you additional cheese for a fee. The gravy couldnt be more overwhelmingly salty. Imagine a package of gravy mix with less water added to it than the powder itself. It is not authentic. I watched people neglect to complete their orders once they saw the price increase time after time for small requests. The portion is minimal. The price gauge is misleading. This is no longer the place everyone knew and loved. Dont waste your time.
Amazing bfast sandwiches
Amazing staff and even better food. If youre hungry for a sandwich and are in the area the pumps is a must try. Very generous and reasonably prices, they take the idea of gas station food and completely spin it on its head. Their southern beef brisket takes me right to my happy place and keeps me coming back for more.
Great pulled pork sandwiches and corn fritters. However, the breakfast sandwiches are not at all worth it. 9 bucks for one egg, some cheese, two strips of bacon and the tiniest slice of tomato Ive ever seen....its too much, Pumps! Lower your price.
Amazing breakfast sandwiches and best poutine outside of Quebec. Nice folks working there. I usually call to order in advance and its always ready when I arrive. Great Leslieville spot!
Amazing sandwiches !!
Great smoke BBQ and poutine.
Deep fried pickles are
Love having this place in the neighbourhood. The gas is cheaper than places nearby and the BBQ takeout is awesome. We picked up a big order for a party and received rave reviews. My favourite item is the smoked turkey club sandwich.
Great value, great food, cool atmosphere. Brisket sandwich is very very tasty, and the deep fried pickle is the best Ive ever had. We got 2 sandwiches, a deep fried pickle and coleslaw for $30. How can you go wrong?
Just walk in and the aroma will drive you crazy (in a good way!)! The best BBQ chicken sandwich ever! So tasty with a nice deep smoky flavour! Corn salad is excellent as well!
Super Amazing food! we love ordering our fave beef brisket sandwich and turkey yummy bacon sandwiches plus fries and to die for gravy!!! coleslaw !!!! love their delish fresh and tasty food!!! unique concept too it is a gas station!!
Today which is the June 6 2018, I work near by an I got a butter chicken sandwich.... came to work had one bite of it a suddenly I could tell something was wrong. So I felt my head hurting I felt sick an my throat started to close. This only happens to me once I eat peanuts so I called to ask of the butter chicken had anything with peanuts or had contact cause this normal doesn t happen to me... has it shouldn t when you eating a meal. An I spoke to the guy at the front that deals with the gas station, he told me that there s nothing they can do just because I paid for it. An I ask if I could exchange for something else or get my money back. But luckily my manager had some Benadryl so everything went away. They were really rude an trying to say it s my fault because butter chicken has peanuts in it... which some don t. It s was my first an last time here. I could have die. Don t wash your time going there.
I cant speak for the gas station or the garage but the food here is very good.
Brisket Sandwich - amazing Throwback dew in bottles*- excellent Creepy dude (customer?) sitting there with laptop not understanding your recycling intents? Minus one star. *I probably should have asked the staff where to recycle those bottles.
I went with a friend that frequents this place to try the brisket sandwich. It was definitely tasty but I was shocked at how small it was for the price. Great flavour, not overpowered with sauce, but just just couldnt escape the tiny portion of meat in a large bun... $5-$6? sure, all day long, $11?, thats enough to keep me away.
one of my fave breakfast spots. Always loved the style of this place. Reminds me of rest stops in Rachel Nevada.
Fantastic poutine.
Had a modified breakfast one morning this summer and the experience was pretty good. The lady was nice enough to charge my phone while I waited for a friend. Apparently this place has been around for a very long time.. its a unique experience, I hope they never renovate.
,. At this. .
Just had a poutine and drink. The fries are perfect. Good curd to fry ratio. Gravy is delicious though a bit over salted and wasnt hot enough to melt the cold curds. Overall a decent poutine, though the serving size is smaller than others, e.g Great Burger Kitchens is at least double the size - but Pumps tastes better.
They dont pay employees!!! Have ongoing labor board disputes. Kitchen is dirty and smoked meat is used for weeks.
Would be zero stars, but dont have the option. Refuse to pay employees, kitchen is a pigsty, reuse old meat from weeks before... Gordon Ramsay would have a field day with this place
What a great spot, tried the smoked chicken and side fries, both were great, decent menu but didnt see a classic burger which I was craving. Loved the selection of vintage sodas and candy also! Great spot for breakfast or a quick lunch. Service was fast!
Rude staff.
Ok coffee, ok snacks and great staff.
Best food, best gas station.
